Why does the serpent suddenly appear in the Garden of Eden? Where did Satan come from? What does the Bible actually teach about his fall? And how can Christians recognize and resist his schemes today?Drawing from Genesis 3, along with passages from Luke, Job, Jude, 2 Peter, Ephesians, Revelation, and James, this sermon explores the biblical doctrine of Satan, spiritual warfare, temptation, and God's absolute sovereignty over evil.Topics include:The origin and fall of SatanWhy the serpent appears in Genesis 3Satan's strategies against believersHow the devil twists God's WordSpiritual warfare according to ScriptureThe armor of God (Ephesians 6)God's sovereignty over SatanWhy God permitted the FallHow Christ has conquered sin, death, and the devilEven though Christians face a real spiritual enemy, believers have an even greater Savior. Defeating Anxiety Through Confidence in God
Defeating AnxietyDo you struggle with anxiety, fear, panic attacks, or constant worry? In this video, I share some of my own battles with anxiety—including panic episodes from my past—and explain how the Lord taught me to fight fear with confidence in God.As Christians, we need to think biblically about anxiety. Is anxiety always sinful? Not necessarily. Sometimes fear is simply part of living in a fallen world. But anxiety becomes spiritually dangerous when it causes us to distrust God or run from our God-given duties. In this teaching, we explore how to transform anxiety into something spiritually productive by turning fear into prayer, action, and deeper trust in the Lord.In this video, we discuss:• When anxiety is sinful—and when it isn’t• Why some fears are irrational and how to confront them• How avoidance often makes anxiety worse• Why God’s goodness and sovereignty are the antidote to fear• How to turn anxious thoughts into prayer (Philippians 4)• Five powerful truths every anxious Christian needs to rememberJesus tells us in Matthew 6:“Do not be anxious about your life...”That command isn’t harsh—it’s hopeful. Why? Because your Heavenly Father knows you, loves you, and cares for you. The cure for anxiety is not pretending fear doesn’t exist; it is learning to trust a God who is both good and powerful. If you are dealing with worry, panic, social anxiety, fear of failure, health anxiety, or overwhelming stress, I hope this biblical encouragement strengthens your soul.📖 Key Scriptures:• Matthew 6:25–34• Philippians 4:5–7• Romans 5• James 1• John 14• Romans 8📚 My book: Bold as a Lion: Christian Courage in an Age of CowardsIn this book, I discuss the roots of fear and how the gospel produces real courage in anxious times.👍 If this video helped you, please like, subscribe, and share it with someone who may need encouragement today.#Anxiety #ChristianAnxiety #TrustGod #BiblicalCounseling #Fear #ChristianEncouragement #MatthewEverhard #ReformedTheology #ChristianLiving #Philippians4 #MentalHealth #GospelHopeNEW BOOK: Bold as a Lion: Christian Courage in an Age of Cowards. Adam's Love Song for Eve. Genesis 2:18-25. [Sermon].
Marriage was not invented by culture—it was created by God.In this exposition of Genesis 2:18–25, Pastor Matthew Everhard explores God's original design for marriage before the Fall. We examine the beauty, joy, definition, and purity of marriage as God instituted it in the Garden of Eden. Why did God bring Eve to Adam? Why did Adam respond with poetry? What does it mean for a husband and wife to become "one flesh"? And why is marriage described throughout Scripture as a covenant rather than merely a contract? This sermon also explores how Christian marriage points beyond itself to the greater love between Christ and His Church, making Genesis not only the beginning of human history but also the foundation of biblical theology concerning marriage.God's purpose in creating marriageWhy Adam's first recorded words are a love poemThe biblical definition of marriageLeaving father and mother and "holding fast"Marriage as a lifelong covenantOne man, one woman, one fleshWhy divorce is so serious biblicallyThe meaning of "naked and not ashamed"How marriage points to Jesus Christ and the ChurchWhether you are married, single, engaged, or simply seeking a biblical understanding of God's design for the family, this message offers timeless wisdom from the opening chapters of Scripture.Scripture: Genesis 2:18–25If this message has encouraged you, please Like, Subscribe, and Share it to help others discover faithful biblical teaching.00:00 Introduction01:58 The Bible's Beautiful View of Marriage04:46 Review of Genesis 208:34 The Beauty of Marriage15:09 The Joy of Marriage22:13 The Biblical Definition of Marriage28:48 The Purity of Marriage31:50 Marriage Is a Covenant, Not a Contract34:25 Practical Applications for Christian Husbands and Wives37:15 ConclusionGenesis 2, Genesis 2:24, Genesis 2:25, biblical marriage, Christian marriage, marriage sermon, covenant marriage, one flesh, leave and cleave, husband and wife, Adam and Eve, creation, theology of marriage, family, Christian family, Reformed theology, Presbyterian, expositional preaching, Matthew Everhard, Bible study, Genesis sermon, Christian living, covenant theology, biblical manhood, biblical womanhood, marriage covenant, Christ and the Church, Ephesians 5, Song of Solomon, Christian relationships#Genesis #Marriage #ChristianMarriage #BibleStudy #ReformedTheology #Genesis2 #Family #Covenant #ExpositoryPreaching #MatthewEverhardIn this sermon:ChaptersKeywordsHashtags

Schism Defined: Response to Redeemed Zoomer and Jordan Cooper
Is the PCA Really Schismatic? A Biblical Response to Redeemed Zoomer & Jordan CooperIs it ever biblical to leave a church or denomination? Or is every separation from an established church an act of sinful schism? In this video, I respond to recent arguments by Redeemed Zoomer and Jordan Cooper regarding the doctrine of schism. Rather than beginning with historical theologians like Samuel Rutherford or Robert Baillie, I argue that we must first begin with Scripture itself. What does the New Testament actually teach about schism? We examine every major New Testament use of the Greek word schisma and ask several important questions:What is the biblical definition of schism? Is doctrinal error ever a legitimate reason to separate from a church?Does the Westminster Confession support Redeemed Zoomer's understanding?Which branch is actually guilty of schism when a denomination abandons biblical truth? Is the PCA a faithful continuation of historic American Presbyterianism—or is it the PCUSA?What can we learn from 1 Corinthians, John's Gospel, 1 John, and Christ's High Priestly Prayer? How should Christians pursue unity without compromising truth?Along the way I discuss:Redeemed Zoomer's recent statements on schismJordan Cooper's helpful contributions (and where I differ)The Westminster Confession of FaithSamuel Rutherford and Robert BaillieThe PCA, PCUSA, OPC, and NAPARCChurch discipline and the marks of the true churchFemale ordination, doctrinal fidelity, and ecclesiastical renewalWhy true Christian unity must always be grounded in biblical truthMy conclusion may surprise you. While I strongly disagree with Redeemed Zoomer's definition of schism, I remain hopeful that God is raising up a faithful remnant within the PCUSA and that genuine Presbyterian unity may yet be possible through repentance and renewed commitment to the authority of Scripture. If you enjoy careful biblical theology, Presbyterian history, Reformed doctrine, and thoughtful discussion of current issues facing the church, please subscribe for more content.Books Mentioned📖 Hold Fast the Faith📖 The Jonathan Edwards Study Bible (now available for preorder)Support Future PastorsIf you'd like to help train faithful ministers through the Jonathan Edwards Scholarship at Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, please consider supporting this important work.If this video was helpful:👍 Like the video💬 Leave your thoughts in the comments📤 Share it with a friend🔔 Subscribe for weekly videos on Reformed theology, church history, and Presbyterianism.#Schism #Presbyterian #PCA #PCUSA #RedeemedZoomer #JordanCooper #ReformedTheology #WestminsterConfession #ChurchHistory #BiblicalTheology #Presbyterianism #NAPARC #OPC #Ecclesiology #ChristianUnity #ChurchDiscipline #MatthewEverhardJONATHAN EDWARDS STUDY BIBLE: PRESALE! NKJV: Never Been Updated!
Why Hasn't the NKJV Been Updated? In this video we will discuss the origin of the NKJV Bible. This is one of the few evangelical, modern translations which has not had an update. Unlike the RSV, NIV, and ESV -- each of which made some mistakes when trying to roll out a new edition -- the NKJV has avoided some of the controversy when a new edition rolls out. Combined with its excellent reputation and avoidance of major gaffs, the primary audience for the NKJV has simply not demanded an revised edition. I hope it stays that way! Forbidden Tree: The Covenant of Works. Genesis 2:15-17. [Sermon].
The Forbidden Tree: Covenant of Works | Genesis 2:15–17 | Sermon by Rev. Dr. Matthew EverhardWhat was so significant about the forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden? Why would God place one tree off-limits to Adam? And what exactly is the Covenant of Works? In this sermon from Genesis 2:15–17, Rev. Dr. Matthew Everhard explores one of the most foundational passages in all of Scripture—the divine command given to Adam in Eden. These verses help us understand sin, death, covenant theology, federal headship, and the Gospel itself. This message examines five major themes in God’s covenant with Adam:🔹 God’s Prerogative – Why God has absolute authority to command His creatures🔹 God’s Provision – The abundance and goodness of Eden🔹 God’s Prohibition – The meaning of the forbidden tree🔹 God’s Punishment – Spiritual death, physical death, and eternal judgment🔹 God’s Promise – How Jesus Christ fulfills what Adam failed to doThis sermon also explores the biblical contrast between:➡️ Adam and Christ➡️ Covenant of Works and Covenant of Grace➡️ Condemnation and Justification➡️ Death and LifeIf you want to understand why the Fall matters, why every human being is born in sin, and why the Gospel of Jesus Christ is such glorious news, this sermon will help.If you enjoy serious Bible teaching, Reformed theology, Presbyterian doctrine, church history, and expository preaching, consider subscribing to the channel.👍 Like this video🔔 Subscribe for weekly sermons and theology content💬 Comment below: Do you think the Covenant of Works is essential to understanding the Gospel?#Genesis #CovenantOfWorks #ReformedTheology #Presbyterian #BibleTeaching #MatthewEverhard #CovenantTheology #ExpositoryPreaching #ChristianSermon #Genesis2Subscribe to the channel for more sermons, theology, and church history content:Matthew Everhard YouTube ChannelBooks by Rev. Street Preaching 101
Street Preaching 101In this video, I debrief our team's efforts to share the gospel in the open air during the 2026 Butler PA Jeep Festival. On June 12, 2026, about 2 to 5 thousand people came downtown to Butler for a festival. I myself, along with Pastor Lincoln and a few others from our church went downtown to evangelize and preach in the open air. We took a wooden cross, and several sets of tracts to share the gospel. In this video, I will share with you what happened as we preached to hundreds and passed out many tracts. We even prayed with one young woman to receive Christ! Praise God. I will share with you some of the basics of this daring but rewarding form of evangelism. After you watch, go out and do it yourself!

To Work It and Keep It: The Nobility of Work. Genesis 2:10-15. [Sermon]
📖 To Work It and Keep It | The Nobility of Work (Genesis 2:10–15)Is work a curse… or a gift from God? Many people today feel trapped in dead-end jobs, burned out by career pressure, or confused about their purpose. But the Bible gives a radically different view of work. In Genesis 2:15, before sin ever entered the world, God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden “to work it and keep it.”That means something profound: work was part of God’s good creation before the Fall. In this sermon, we recover the biblical doctrine of the dignity and glory of work—a truth desperately needed in an age of laziness, workaholism, purposelessness, and confusion about vocation. In this sermon:✅ Why work is a creation ordinance✅ Why all honorable labor has dignity before God✅ How the Fall made work painful and frustrating✅ Why sloth is a serious but neglected sin✅ Biblical encouragement for young men and young women✅ The difference between religious and secular vocation✅ Why your works can never save you—only grace in Christ canWhether you are a pastor, mechanic, homemaker, businessman, teacher, student, or retiree, this message will help you understand how your labor can glorify God.“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23If this message encourages you, please like, subscribe, and share to help spread biblical truth.🔔 Subscribe for more sermons, theology, church history, and Reformed teaching from Pastor Matthew Everhard.Related TopicsReformed TheologyBiblical Manhood & WomanhoodProtestant Work EthicChristian VocationGenesis Sermon SeriesCreation OrdinancesGrace vs Works#Genesis #ChristianWorkEthic #ReformedTheology #Sermon #BibleTeaching #Presbyterian #PCA #WorkEthic #ChristianLiving #MatthewEverhardChurch: Gospel Fellowship PCASeminary: Reformed Presbyterian Theological SeminaryYouTube: Matthew Everhard ChannelThis sermon was preached by Matthew Everhard at Gospel Fellowship PCA.

Does the Roman Catholic Church Have a CLEAR Gospel?
Does the Roman Catholic Church have a clear Gospel? It is my anecdotal experience that many Catholics do not have a clear understanding of the Gospel. They struggle to articulate it. This is likely the case because the Roman Catholic Church has an overly complicated view of how salvation works. The Catholic Church teaches such things as:- Seven Sacraments- Purgatory- Priestly Confession- Mortal and Venial Sins- Confession to Priests- Treasury of MeritNone of the above are actually found in the Bible. The Protestant understanding of the Gospel is far clearer. We teach that a person is justifed by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (See Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 John 1:8-9; John 3:16). In this video, I will show a flowchart that clearly explains the difference between Roman Catholic theology and the Biblical Gospel.

NEW BOOK: Bold as a Lion: Christian Courage in an Age of Cowards. Now available in paperback and ebook! Get it here: https://amzn.to/49FjBA8In this video we will consider the power of sharing our Christian testimony with unbelievers. Sharing our testimony is powerful because it is relatable, humble, and meek. We share our own sin, and we are honest about what Christ raised us out of. Some of us have very gripping testimonies, and others have "boring" testimonies. It does not matter, Christ is powerful to save and deliver. Here we will use the testimony of the Apostle Paul from Acts 22 as the example for how to share our testimonies with unbelievers. We will also consider some reasons why this method is not foolproof. No matter what, we must be sure to preach Christ!

Genesis 2:1–3 | You Are Tired | MVE | May 24, 2026You are exhausted. Not just physically—but deep down in your soul. You sleep, but never feel rested. Evangelicals Vs Presbyterians: Four Main Differences
Presbyterian vs. Evangelical: Four Main DifferencesWhat is the difference between Presbyterians and Evangelicals? Many Christians assume the two are basically the same—but historically and theologically there are some important distinctions. In this video, I explain four key differences between Presbyterian Christianity and the broader Evangelical movement. While we share common ground in the gospel of Jesus Christ, these traditions approach doctrine, church authority, history, and worship in different ways. We’ll explore the following:1. Confessional ChristianityPresbyterian churches are historically confessional, meaning they formally subscribe to doctrinal standards such as the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. Evangelical churches often affirm a statement of faith, but typically with a lighter level of doctrinal subscription.2. Historical RootsPresbyterian theology stands within a long historical tradition that includes the Reformed churches of the Protestant Reformation, the Scottish Covenanters, the English Puritans, and the Westminster Assembly. Many evangelical churches emphasize present ministry more than historic confessional continuity.3. Connectional Church GovernmentPresbyterian churches practice connectional church government, where local congregations are overseen by a broader structure including presbyteries and general assemblies. Evangelical churches are often independent or congregational in their governance.4. Regulative Principle of WorshipPresbyterian worship is traditionally guided by the Regulative Principle of Worship, meaning that corporate worship should include only what is commanded in Scripture. Many evangelical churches instead follow a normative or pragmatic approach, allowing practices that are not explicitly forbidden.Even with these differences, both Presbyterians and Evangelicals share essential Christian beliefs centered on the authority of Scripture, the gospel of grace, and the lordship of Christ. If you’ve ever wondered how Reformed theology, Presbyterian church government, and Evangelical Christianity compare, this video will help clarify the conversation.👍 If you enjoy theological content like this:Subscribe for more videos on Reformed theology, church history, Presbyterian doctrine, and biblical teaching.📚 My Book: Bold as a Lion: Christian Courage in an Age of CowardsTimestamps0:00 Introduction1:00 Common Ground: The Gospel of Christ2:54 Difference #1 – Confessional Christianity9:00 Difference #2 – Historical Roots12:52 Difference #3 – Connectional Church Government15:00 Difference #4 – Regulative Principle of Worship17:00 Final ThoughtsSearch Keywords:Presbyterian vs Evangelical, Presbyterian theology, Reformed theology, Westminster Confession, Presbyterian church government, Evangelical Christianity, Regulative Principle of Worship, Reformed worship, church polity explained, Presbyterian beliefs
