Morning Manna with Rick Wiles

In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles continues Proverbs 29 with verses 3 and 4, showing how quickly something that took years or generations to build can be destroyed. Solomon first contrasts the son who loves wisdom and brings joy to his father with the man who gives himself to sexual immorality and wastes his substance. Rick explains that the loss is greater than money—the prodigal can consume an inheritance built through the labor, sacrifice, and discipline of generations before him. The same principle then moves from the family to the nation. A king establishes a land through justice, but bribery and corruption can tear down what generations worked to build. Justice gives a society stability, allowing ordinary people to trust judgments, make plans, invest, and live with confidence. Corruption destroys that foundation by allowing money and influence to distort what should be decided righteously. Whether it is personal appetite consuming a family inheritance or political corruption consuming a nation, the warning is the same: building is slow, but destruction can come quickly when wisdom, righteousness, and justice are abandoned. In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart continue the Desperate Faith series with blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10. Sitting beside the road as Jesus passed through Jericho, Bartimaeus had only one way to reach Him: his voice. When the people surrounding Jesus ordered him to be quiet, “he cried the more a great deal.” His desperate faith stopped Christ on the road to Jerusalem and the cross. This lesson examines faith that refuses to be silenced, the danger of allowing others to stand between us and Christ, and the remarkable response of Bartimaeus after receiving his sight. Jesus told him, “Go thy way,” but Bartimaeus chose to go Christ’s way instead. Sometimes desperate faith means refusing to stop crying out until Jesus stands still. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart conclude Proverbs 28 with a powerful promise for believers living through difficult times. Solomon acknowledges the reality that “when the wicked rise, men hide themselves,” but he does not leave the righteous in hiding. The wicked also perish, and “the righteous increase.” This lesson explores why prudent withdrawal under genuine threat is not cowardice, why seasons of wicked ascendancy are temporary, and how God repeatedly turns suppression into multiplication. From Israel under Pharaoh to the persecuted church in Acts, Scripture reveals a consistent pattern: what the enemy attempts to suppress, God can cause to multiply. The hiding is real, but it is not permanent. The season has an end, and God determines when it comes. Rick Wiles and Dr. Raymond Burkhart take up two proverbs that look unrelated — one about self-trust, one about generosity — and show that both describe the same failure: a man managing what he is willing to see. Verse 26 calls trusting your own heart folly, not because the heart is worthless but because it is an interested party, being asked to rule on its own desires. Verse 27 locates the failure of generosity not in the closed hand but in the hidden eye, at the quiet arrangement never to see so that no decision is ever required. The lesson presses Paul's refusal of his own acquittal in 1 Corinthians 4:3–4, the genuine bewilderment of the condemned in Matthew 25, and the Septuagint's sharper readings — the presumptuous "bold heart" and the aporia of a man left with no way forward. In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart begin a new series, Desperate Faith: Faith That Interrupts. We meet the woman of Mark 5 who had suffered for twelve years, spent everything she had, and only grew worse. Ceremonially unclean and accustomed to living at a distance, she pushed through the crowd believing that if she could only touch Jesus’ clothes, she would be healed. What followed reveals something powerful about faith: the crowd pressed against Jesus, but one desperate woman truly touched Him. She came seeking healing and received far more. Jesus stopped, called her “Daughter,” publicly restored her, and declared, “Thy faith hath made thee whole. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 28:15–17 and Scripture’s sobering warning about the abuse of power. God intends authority to protect the vulnerable, yet Solomon compares a wicked ruler to a roaring lion and a ranging bear hunting the defenseless. This lesson explores how greed and lack of understanding transform leadership into oppression, why those entrusted with authority must hate unjust gain, and why Scripture treats the shedding of innocent blood with such severity. Whether the authority is political, spiritual, professional, or within the home, every leader faces the same question: Am I protecting the people God placed under my care, or am I using my position to prey upon them? In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 28:9–11 and three dangerous forms of self-deception. Solomon warns that prayer cannot substitute for obedience, that those who deliberately lead the righteous astray are ultimately constructing their own downfall, and that wealth can insulate a person from the correction needed for genuine wisdom. This lesson challenges us to open our ears to God before asking Him to hear us, guard our influence over others, and never confuse success, status, or confidence with genuine spiritual discernment. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 28:6–8 and Scripture’s radically different measure of a successful life. Solomon declares that integrity with poverty is better than wealth gained through crookedness, warns that our companions help shape who we become, and exposes the futility of profiting from another person’s desperation. This lesson examines why prosperity is not evidence of God’s approval, why character is worth more than possessions, and how God’s providence ultimately governs wealth acquired through exploitation. The world measures a person by what he possesses; Scripture measures him by what he is. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 28:3–5 and the progressive consequences of abandoning God’s standard. Solomon exposes oppression from those who should understand suffering, a culture that begins praising what God calls wicked, and the deeper problem beneath both: sin damages our ability to perceive moral reality correctly. This lesson reveals why what we applaud exposes what we truly value, why believers must both contend for truth and fortify themselves in God’s Word, and why genuine understanding comes through continually seeking the Lord. Moral clarity is not merely intellectual—it is formed through obedience and relationship with God. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart begin Proverbs 28 with verses 1–2 and Solomon’s powerful contrast between the instability produced by sin and the confidence that comes from righteousness. A guilty conscience can cause a person to flee when no one is pursuing, while the righteous can stand bold as a lion because their confidence rests in God. The same principle applies to nations: moral rebellion produces political instability, conflict, and constant upheaval, while wisdom and righteousness bring order and preserve what would otherwise decay. This lesson reveals why lasting national renewal cannot come through political machinery alone—it begins with transformed hearts, faithful individuals, and people willing to stand for righteousness where God has placed them. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart conclude Proverbs 27 with verses 25–27 and Solomon’s picture of faithful stewardship. The hay appears, the flock provides, and ultimately there is enough for everyone under the steward’s care. This lesson explores the partnership between diligent labor and God’s provision, the importance of tending the foundations that sustain what He has entrusted to us, and a biblical vision of prosperity centered on sufficiency rather than accumulation. Faithful stewardship works within God’s seasons, recognizes that He gives the increase, and measures success by whether His provision reaches those entrusted to our care. In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart continue the Obedient Faith series with Israel’s march around Jericho. God deliberately chose a strategy that left no room for human strength, ingenuity, or military skill to claim the victory. For six days Israel marched in silence; on the seventh, they obeyed the command to shout—and the wall fell. This lesson reveals why obedient faith sometimes requires restraint, precise timing, and trusting God when His instructions appear inadequate by human standards. When God designs the victory, the glory belongs to Him alone. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 27:20–22 and three stubborn realities of the human heart: desire that is never satisfied, praise that exposes character, and folly that punishment alone cannot remove. Solomon shows that getting more cannot cure uncontrolled desire, applause can test us more severely than criticism, and external correction can restrain behavior without transforming the heart. Ultimately, these verses point beyond human remedies to the work only God can accomplish—contentment, humility, and the inward transformation of a new heart. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 27:17–19 and three powerful pictures of how God develops His people through relationships and faithful service. Iron sharpens iron through necessary friction, the carefully tended fig tree rewards patient labor, and another person’s heart can become a mirror revealing our own. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart continue their study of Proverbs 26 by examining verses 17–19, where Solomon warns against two destructive habits that damage relationships and communities: meddling in conflicts that do not belong to us and disguising hurtful deception as "just a joke." Through the vivid images of grabbing a wild dog by the ears and a madman hurling firebrands and arrows, this lesson reveals the high cost of self-appointed involvement and careless speech. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart continue their study of Proverbs 26 by examining Solomon's unforgettable portrait of the sluggard in verses 13–16. Why does the lazy man always seem to find a "lion in the street"? How can someone stay busy yet accomplish nothing? And why does laziness often end in self-deception? Through these vivid proverbs, Solomon exposes the progression from excuses, to inactivity, to spiritual paralysis, and finally to a heart convinced it is wiser than those who faithfully do God's work. This practical lesson challenges every believer to confront the imaginary obstacles that keep us from obedience and to embrace the diligence that honors the Lord. In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart begin a new three-part series, Faith in the Dark Hours, by exploring the remarkable faith of Paul and Silas in the Philippian prison. Beaten, chained, and locked in the darkest cell, they chose to pray and sing praises to God before any sign of deliverance appeared. Their worship became a testimony that transformed everyone listening and prepared the way for one of the most powerful conversions in the Book of Acts. Discover how to develop a faith that worships in the midnight hour, trusts God's unchanging character, and believes that your darkest moments may become someone else's doorway to salvation. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 26:10–12, where Solomon brings his study of the fool to a sobering conclusion. These verses reveal God's sovereign rule over every life, expose the tragic pattern of returning to destructive sin like a dog to its vomit, and issue a startling warning that the person who is wise in his own eyes is in greater spiritual danger than the fool himself. This lesson calls believers to embrace humility, remain teachable, and seek the transforming work of God that changes not only our behavior but the desires of our hearts. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 26:4–5, two verses that appear to contradict one another but together reveal one of Scripture's greatest lessons in discernment. Sometimes wisdom requires refusing to engage a fool; at other times it demands a careful response to prevent folly from misleading others. This study explores how to recognize the difference, why the manner of our response matters as much as the response itself, and how believers can navigate arguments, criticism, and even social media without becoming like the very foolishness they seek to correct. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart begin their study of Proverbs 26 by examining three foundational truths about folly. Solomon warns that honoring a fool is as destructive as snow in summer or rain during harvest, teaches that a groundless curse has no power over the righteous, and explains why fools often respond only to consequences rather than reason. Drawing from both the King James Version and the Septuagint, this lesson encourages believers to value wisdom rightly, reject the fear of baseless accusations, and trust that God protects those who walk in righteousness. In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart conclude their series on Borrowed Faith by studying the remarkable faith of the Syrophoenician woman in Matthew 15:21–28. Faced with silence, apparent rejection, and repeated obstacles, she refused to stop trusting Christ on behalf of her demon-possessed daughter. Jesus ultimately declared, "O woman, great is thy faith," demonstrating that persistent, humble, and Scripture-shaped faith can prevail even in the darkest moments. This lesson offers encouragement to every parent, spouse, and intercessor who continues to pray for a loved one, reminding us that God honors faith that refuses to let go. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart conclude their five-week journey through Proverbs 25 with a chapter-wide review of its most important lessons. From the king's court to the home, from our relationships with others to the condition of our own hearts, Solomon teaches that wisdom is living the right way, in the right measure, at the right time. Rick and Doc revisit the chapter's three great themes—measured living, skillful speech and relationships, and the disciplined inner life—showing how every proverb points to the formation of godly character. This summary brings together the practical wisdom of Proverbs 25 and reminds believers that the strongest life is built on humility, self-control, faithful obedience, and unwavering trust in God. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart conclude Proverbs 25 by examining two final warnings that summarize the chapter's wisdom. First, Solomon warns against the pursuit of self-glory, reminding us that true honor is received, not sought. He then presents one of Scripture's most memorable images: the person without self-control is like a city broken down and without walls, vulnerable to every attack. This lesson explores why humility and self-governance are essential to Christian maturity, how daily discipline strengthens the inner life, and why the greatest victories are often won not over others, but over ourselves. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 25:25–26, where Solomon contrasts two powerful images: the refreshing joy of good news from a distant land and the tragic consequences of a righteous person compromising before the wicked. Just as cold water revives a weary soul, faithful believers are called to bring hope, encouragement, and the life-giving message of the Gospel to others. At the same time, this passage warns that when those entrusted with truth yield under pressure, they become like a polluted spring, depriving others of the clear water they desperately need. This study challenges every believer to be both a source of refreshment and a steadfast witness whose integrity remains unshaken in the face of opposition. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 25:23–24, where Solomon addresses two of the greatest threats to peace: the destructive power of gossip and the misery of continual strife. The study explores how righteous disapproval can silence a backbiting tongue, why believers must refuse to participate in slander, and what Scripture teaches about living in an atmosphere of constant contention. Drawing from both the King James Version and the Septuagint, Rick and Doc show that genuine peace requires both the courage to confront sin and the wisdom to recognize when conflict has become spiritually destructive. In today's Morning Manna, Doc Burkhart examines Proverbs 25:21–22, one of the most influential passages in the Book of Proverbs and the foundation for Jesus' command to love your enemies and Paul's teaching in Romans 12. Rather than responding to hostility with retaliation, believers are called to meet their enemies' needs with acts of kindness, trusting God with the outcome. This lesson explores the meaning of "heaping coals of fire," the promise of the Lord's reward, and why overcoming evil with good is one of the greatest demonstrations of Christlike character. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 25:19–20, where Solomon teaches two essential qualities of biblical love: being trustworthy in times of crisis and offering comfort with wisdom. An unreliable friend wounds like a broken tooth or a slipping foot, while careless attempts to cheer a grieving heart only deepen its pain. This lesson explores what it means to be someone others can depend on, why compassion requires discernment, and how Christ provides the perfect example of both unwavering faithfulness and tender comfort to those who suffer. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 25:17–18, where Solomon teaches two essential principles for preserving healthy relationships. Wisdom knows when to step back so that friendship remains a blessing rather than a burden, and it refuses to use words as weapons against a neighbor. From practicing measured presence to rejecting gossip, slander, and false testimony, this lesson reveals that genuine love is expressed through both respectful boundaries and unwavering commitment to the truth. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart explore Proverbs 25:15–16, where Solomon reveals two powerful lessons in self-control. A patient spirit and a gentle tongue can accomplish what force and anger never will, while even the sweetest blessings become harmful when pursued without restraint. From patient persuasion to disciplined appetites, this study shows that true wisdom is measured not by power or abundance, but by knowing the right way, the right time, and the right measure. As believers learn to govern both their words and their desires, they increasingly reflect the character of the God who is both longsuffering and perfectly wise. In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart continue their three-part series on biblical faith by exploring Wait Faith through Hebrews 11:13. Abraham, Sarah, and Simeon each demonstrate that genuine faith is not measured by how quickly God's promises are fulfilled, but by steadfast confidence in the God who made them. This lesson reveals why waiting is not a sign of failed faith, but often its greatest expression. Discover how God shapes His people in the long seasons between promise and fulfillment, and why the believer's confidence rests not in changing circumstances, but in the unchanging faithfulness of the Promiser. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 25:13–14, where Solomon contrasts the refreshing faithfulness of a trustworthy messenger with the disappointment of empty promises. A faithful servant brings life, encouragement, and confidence to those who depend on him, while those who boast of gifts they never deliver are compared to clouds that promise rain but leave the ground dry. This lesson explores why faithfulness is one of the highest Christian virtues, the importance of keeping our word, and how God's own perfect faithfulness becomes the model for every believer's life and witness. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart explore Proverbs 25:11–12, two of the most beautiful verses in the Book of Proverbs, where Solomon reveals both the power of a well-timed word and the value of a teachable heart. A "word fitly spoken" is compared to apples of gold set in silver—a picture of truth delivered with wisdom, grace, and perfect timing. The passage then turns to the one who receives wise correction, showing that an obedient ear is adorned like precious gold. Together, Rick and Doc examine why timing is as important as truth, how wise correction becomes a blessing rather than a burden, and why both the faithful speaker and the humble listener reflect the wisdom of God. Drawing from the King James Version, the Septuagint, the teachings of Christ, and the insights of generations of biblical commentators, this lesson challenges believers to speak words that heal, encourage, and instruct—and to cultivate hearts willing to receive God's truth whenever it comes. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 25:8–10, where Solomon provides one of Scripture's clearest and most practical teachings on conflict resolution. Rather than rushing into public disputes, wisdom calls believers to slow down, think through the consequences, address grievances privately, and guard the confidences entrusted to them. Through the wisdom of Proverbs, the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5 and Matthew 18, and the counsel of James 1:19, Rick and Doc demonstrate that many broken relationships and damaged reputations are the result not of the original disagreement, but of the way the conflict was handled. The lesson also explores the Septuagint's sobering warning that unresolved and carelessly escalated quarrels can become irreconcilable, bringing lasting regret and relational destruction. God's way is neither avoidance nor reckless confrontation, but humble, truthful, and private reconciliation whenever possible. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 25:6–7, where Solomon reveals a timeless principle that reaches far beyond royal courts into the very heart of God's Kingdom. Rather than seeking prominence or promoting ourselves before those in authority, Scripture teaches that genuine honor is never seized—it is bestowed. Through the wisdom of Solomon, the teaching of Jesus in Luke 14, and the supreme example of Christ's humility in Philippians 2, Rick and Doc demonstrate that the way up in God's economy is first the way down. The lesson explores the danger of self-promotion, the blessing of taking the lower place, the Septuagint's emphasis on humility in both position and speech, and why those who wait for God to say, "Come up hither," receive an honor that no amount of ambition can secure. True greatness belongs not to those who exalt themselves, but to those whom God chooses to exalt. In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart begin a three-part series on faith by examining what they call Threshold Faith—the faith that steps forward before the miracle appears. Drawing from Joshua 3:14–17, they explore Israel's crossing of the Jordan River at flood stage, where God did not part the waters before the priests moved, but only after their feet touched the brim of the overflowing river. This powerful lesson reveals that biblical faith is not passive belief or careful calculation; it is obedient action taken on the authority of God's Word when circumstances make success appear impossible. Rick and Doc show how God often places His people at flooded Jordans, where the promise is visible but the obstacle seems insurmountable, and how the miracle frequently waits on the threshold step. The study also examines the responsibility of spiritual leaders to go first, the connection between Joshua's narrative and Hebrews 11:1, and why every act of courageous obedience becomes a testimony for future generations. Faith is not proven when the waters have already parted—it is proven when the foot enters the flood. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 25:4–5, where Solomon uses the imagery of silver refining to reveal a timeless principle of personal, spiritual, and governmental integrity. Just as a silversmith must remove the dross before a vessel can be fashioned for honorable use, so corruption must be removed from positions of influence before righteousness can flourish. The lesson explores the deceptive nature of dross, which resembles silver while corrupting it from within, and the parallel danger of ungodly counsel surrounding those entrusted with authority. Drawing from both the King James Version and the Septuagint, Rick and Doc show that purity is never accidental—it requires deliberate refinement, difficult decisions, and the courage to remove what corrupts. Whether applied to leadership, the church, the family, or the individual believer, the message is clear: a vessel fit for the Refiner and a throne established in righteousness are both produced by the same process—the removal of what does not belong. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart begin their study of Proverbs 25 with a remarkable passage that explores the transmission of wisdom, the mystery of divine knowledge, and the responsibility of those entrusted with authority. Proverbs 25:1–3 reveals how the men of Hezekiah faithfully preserved Solomon's wisdom centuries after it was first spoken, demonstrating that truth must be received, guarded, and passed on to future generations. The lesson then turns to one of Scripture's most profound theological statements: “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” Together, Rick and Doc examine the relationship between divine mystery and human inquiry, why God's hiddenness is an expression of His glory rather than a deficiency, and how leaders honor God through careful, patient, and impartial investigation. Finally, they explore the unsearchable heart of kings and the humility required when approaching both the mysteries of God and the depths of human authority. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Proverbs 24:32–34, where Solomon moves from observation to reflection and finally to instruction. After carefully considering the neglected field of the slothful, Solomon receives a sobering lesson: great ruin rarely comes through dramatic rebellion but through countless small delays. "A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands" becomes the voice of self-justification that gradually produces thorns, broken walls, and eventual poverty. Rick and Doc explore how wisdom is gained by observing life's lessons with a teachable heart, why the seemingly insignificant "littles" are often the most dangerous choices we make, and how neglect accumulates until consequences arrive like a traveler steadily approaching his destination—and ultimately like an armed man impossible to resist. In today's Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart continue their examination of Proverbs 24:30–31, where Solomon's observation of a neglected field becomes a profound lesson on the cumulative effects of spiritual, moral, and practical neglect. The overgrown thorns, encroaching nettles, and broken stone wall reveal that decay rarely arrives suddenly—it advances one small act of avoidance at a time. Together, Rick and Doc explore the three stages of neglect, the covenant significance of broken boundaries, and the connection between the outward condition of the field and the inward condition of the soul. Drawing from both the KJV and the Septuagint, the lesson challenges believers to recognize the early signs of decline before small compromises become structural failures. The neglected field serves as a powerful reminder that every area of life requiring cultivation—faith, family, doctrine, relationships, and stewardship—must be actively maintained or it will inevitably be overtaken by what grows without effort. In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine Luke 21:16–18, where Jesus delivers one of the most remarkable promises in Scripture. He warns that His followers will face betrayal, hatred, persecution, imprisonment, and even death for His name's sake. Yet in the midst of these sobering realities, Christ declares, “But there shall not an hair of your head perish.” How can believers be delivered to death and yet lose nothing? Today's study explores this profound paradox, revealing the difference between temporal suffering and eternal preservation. Rick and Doc examine Christ's promise of ultimate security, the sovereignty of God over every trial, and the assurance that no persecution, loss, or death can separate the believer from the preserving power of God. Though the body may suffer, the soul remains eternally secure in the hands of Christ. Proverbs 24:30–31 presents one of Solomon’s most powerful object lessons. Passing by the field of the slothful and the vineyard of the man lacking understanding, he observes a sobering scene: thorns had overrun the ground, weeds covered its surface, and the protective stone wall had collapsed. The condition of the field did not result from a single catastrophic event but from continual neglect. In today’s Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine how unattended responsibilities gradually produce visible ruin, why spiritual and practical neglect always leave evidence behind, and how the condition of the field often mirrors the condition of the soul. This passage reminds us that what we fail to cultivate today will eventually reveal itself tomorrow. Proverbs 24:31 continues Solomon’s examination of the sluggard’s field, revealing a scene of gradual ruin: thorns had overgrown it, weeds covered its surface, and its stone wall had broken down. None of this happened overnight. The decay was the result of repeated neglect and unattended responsibilities. In today's Morning Manna, Doc Burkhart explores how spiritual, moral, and practical deterioration often occur slowly and silently, why small acts of neglect eventually produce large consequences, and how broken walls and overgrown fields become powerful illustrations of an unguarded life. This verse reminds us that what we fail to cultivate today may become tomorrow’s ruin. Proverbs 24:27 gives a simple command with profound wisdom: “Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.” Solomon teaches that successful living requires proper order. Before constructing the house, the field must be prepared; before enjoying the harvest, the ground must be cultivated. Wisdom rejects impulsiveness and embraces preparation, planning, and disciplined priorities. In today's Morning Manna, Doc Burkhart explores God's principle of preparation before possession, why foundations matter more than appearances, and how many of life's struggles arise from trying to enjoy the finished product before doing the necessary work that makes it sustainable. Proverbs 24:26 declares, “Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.” In the ancient world, a kiss symbolized affection, honor, agreement, and covenant loyalty. Solomon teaches that truthful, upright speech carries a power that wins respect and strengthens relationships. Honest answers may not always be the easiest to give, but they are ultimately the most valuable. In today's Morning Manna, Doc Burkhart explores the biblical significance of the “kiss of the lips,” why truth spoken rightly is a gift to both speaker and hearer, and how integrity in our words reflects the wisdom and character of God Himself.
