Understanding Compulsive Sexual Behavior with Dr. Robert Hudson
In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Robert Hudson to explore compulsive sexual behavior (CSB), its impact on intimate relationships, and the clinical realities that are so often hidden beneath secrecy and shame.Drawing from his new book, *Treating Compulsive Sexual Behavior and Its Impact on Relationships: A Clinical Guide*, Dr. Hudson helps us understand why CSB is frequently misunderstood as simply a moral failing or lack of willpower. Instead, we discuss how it is often rooted in trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation, shame, and complex relational dynamics.Together, we examine the profound impact CSB can have on betrayed partners, couples, and families. We talk about betrayal trauma, the role of secrecy, and why genuine healing requires much more than simply stopping the behavior.Dr. Hudson also shares the importance of trauma-informed, non-pathologizing approaches to treatment, the role of accountability in recovery, and practical therapeutic tools that clinicians can use for assessment, cycle mapping, stabilization, and couples work.Whether you're a clinician, someone in recovery, a betrayed partner, or simply looking to better understand the psychological and relational dimensions of compulsive sexual behavior, I hope this conversation offers insight, encouragement, and practical guidance for the journey toward healing.Website: https://relationship-recovery.co.uk/LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-robert-hudson-a19ba91a/

Beyond Sobriety-The Neuroscience of Addiction with Chris Chandler
Many betrayed partners are told that recovery requires sobriety, accountability, disclosure, and empathy, but they are not always given a clear understanding of what is happening in the addicted brain or why meaningful change takes time. In this conversation, Chris Chandler brings a neuroscience-based lens to compulsive sexual behavior, drawing from his clinical work with thousands of men, his collaboration with Dr. Patrick Carnes on Fulbright-supported sexual addiction research, and his role with the American Foundation for Addiction Research.Chris will explain how attachment wounds, trauma, shame, and nervous system dysregulation can shape maladaptive coping strategies long before adulthood. Using a simple model of the brainstem, limbic system, and prefrontal cortex, he will help partners understand why early recovery often requires intense stabilization, structure, repetition, and community before deeper emotional and relational healing becomes possible. This discussion will also explore Carnes’ view of recovery as a long-term process: the first one to two years often focus on sobriety, honesty, accountability, and behavioral stabilization, which can then open the door to deeper attachment work, grief, empathy, intimacy, and relational repair. The goal is not behavior management alone, but restored connection.Contact Info:Website: www.breathtobones.comSchedule a Consultation with Chris: https://breath-to bones.cal.com/chris/consultation

What Is Problematic Sexual Behavior Framework with Bill Herring
Bill Herring is a clinical social worker as well as a certified sex addiction therapist (CSAT) in Atlanta Georgia where he has maintained a private psychotherapy practice for he past 35 years.Bill Herring is the creator of the Problematic Sexual Behavior Framework (known as the PSB Framework for short). This is a way to assess any form of sexual behavior for the presence of problematic aspects without even needing to focus on the type or frequency of that behavior. The PSB Framework uses just five simple questions to assess a person’s pattern of sexual behavior for commitment violations, values conflicts, diminishedself-control, lack of responsibility to others and negative consequences. This approach helps to reduce resistance for people who know or suspect that they have a sexual problem but who are not ready to accept a label as a sexaddict – and may not even need to, as Bill will discuss today.Contact Into:Bill Herring LCSW2127 Vista Dale CourtTucker GA 30084(678) 773-3083Billherring.com

Understanding Betrayed Male Partners Who Are Fathers Too with Aaron Brewer
This conversation explores the often-overlooked experience of betrayed males, especially fathers, and how men uniquely process intimate relationship betrayal. While infidelity is commonly studied and treated through a female-centered lens, emerging insights suggest that men may experience betrayal as a distinct form of trauma—impacting identity, trust, emotional regulation, and meaning-making. From a clinical perspective, the conversation highlights common therapeutic missteps, the importance of addressing bias, and practical treatment considerations for working effectively with betrayed men. We discuss how betrayal trauma can produce PTSD-like symptoms, including intrusive thoughts, hypervigilance, and intense emotional reactions such as anger, grief, and disgust. The episode also examines how socialization, masculinity, and cultural expectations shape men’s responses. Ultimately, this episode offers a more balanced and compassionate framework for understanding betrayal—equipping clinicians, couples, and families to better support men navigating one of the most painful relational experiences.Aaron Brewer, MA, LPCC-S, NCC, CSAT, CPTT, CMAT, CCTP-II, DARTT, has worked in mental healthcare for almost 10 years. He is a doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands. He teaches graduate counseling courses at Grace College and works as a clinical counselor and supervisor in private practice in Ohio. Reclaiming Resilience and Rewiring Trust After Betrayal with Sara Stalker
Betrayal is more than a break in a contract; it is a physiological and emotional earthquake that can leave you feeling fundamentally altered. However, resilience isn't about "bouncing back" to the person you were before; it is about the grounded, deliberate process of integrating that experience and moving forward with a new sense of self. In this session, we explore how to shift from the survival-based hyper-vigilance of betrayal trauma toward a state of embodied safety and clarity. We will discuss the practicalities of reclaiming resilience through somatic grounding—focusing on the nervous system rather than just the narrative. By moving away from clinical jargon and toward "real talk," we address the complexities of restoring trust, starting with the most important relationship of all: the one with your own intuition. Drawing on over 20 years in wellness and my own personal journey through the landscape of betrayal, I share how these experiences became the catalyst for a deeper, more resilient way of living. We’ll look at how to set boundaries that protect your peace and how to begin "rewiring" your heart for love and security, proving that you are never as broken as the betrayal made you feel.Contact infowww.intuitivecoachingwithsara.cominfo@intuitivecoachingwithsara.com@intuitivehealingwithsara

Want to Increase Empathy... Join A Help Her Heal Workshop to Practice the Skills with Cynthia Reetz
In this episode, we explore two deeply important areas of healing, protection, and education. First, we dive into the Help Her Heal-Informed Workshop—a powerful experiential program designed for men who want to better understand how to support a partner’s healing after betrayal. Rather than simply teaching concepts, this workshop challenges participants to practice honesty, accountability, and emotionally safe responses in real time. With guidance from three experienced CSAT therapists, men receive coaching, individualized feedback, and multiple professional perspectives that help them move from defensiveness to empathy and repair. We also discuss the growing dangers children face online, including harmful exposure, grooming, and the emotional impact of what many kids encounter in digital spaces. A major focus of this work is helping parents, therapists, and professionals understand why proactive conversations with children matter so deeply—especially because children often do not disclose what they have seen or experienced online. Through education and practical guidance, this conversation equips adults to better protect, support, and connect with kids in an increasingly complex digital world. At the heart of both topics is the same mission: helping families respond effectively to pain, vulnerability, and healing through education, awareness, and compassionate action.Cynthia Reetz, MA, LCPC, CSAT-Supervisorhttps://www.willowclinicalservices.com630 752 9874

What Makes Healing for Some Partners so Difficult? with Eddie Capparucci
In this deeply honest and compassionate conversation, I sit down with therapist and author Dr. Eddie Capparucci to explore a difficult but necessary question: Why is healing so hard for some betrayed partners?Together, we unpack the emotional complexity that follows betrayal trauma, the role of nervous system dysregulation, and how both partners can unintentionally get stuck in cycles of pain, fear, resentment, and hopelessness. Eddie and I discuss the importance of emotional regulation, empathy, accountability, and why healing cannot happen through punishment, shame, or permanent power imbalances. We also challenge some of the harmful messages circulating in recovery spaces and talk candidly about how therapists, support groups, and even healing communities can either contribute to restoration—or deepen division. This episode is not about blaming betrayed partners or excusing betrayal. It’s about asking bigger questions:How do we truly help couples heal? What keeps some partners trapped in trauma? And what does real recovery look like when both people are hurting? If you’ve ever struggled to find hope after betrayal, or if you work with couples navigating recovery, this conversation offers insight, honesty, and compassion for the long road of rebuilding trust together.Eddie Capparucci, Ph.D., LPC, C-CSASAbundant Life CounselingGunter, TXLicensed in TX, GA, NCwww.abundantlifecounselingga.comwww.innerchild-sexaddiction.comwww.SexuallyPureMen.com

Couples Work: The Common Denominator is You w/ CaroltheCoach
John and Elaine, in their journeys through recovery, have learned that to simply regret their past misbehavior does nothing to help insure that the misbehavior will not occur again. In fact, one of the lessons recovery has taught them is that the person I was will fall again. They have found that this principal seems to hold true in all areas of life, including romantic relationships. That is to say that the individual who finds himself/herself ending up repeatedly at an undesirable point in their romantic relationship(s) time and again should look for the common denominator: him or her. If they desire the relationship to change he/she should look no further than to start with himself/herself. Join John and Elaine Leadem as they discuss how to break old patterns and learn the necessary steps that keeps a relationship healthy and forward moving! A Roadmap to Sex Addiction Recovery with Carol the Coach
Sex Addiction affects the whole family. Often the addict lives a double life. The addict lives two lives; a public life (family, friends and work) and a private life that he keeps secret. The secret life has become a sort of friend for the addict. Anytime he/she is stressed or bored they turn to their trusty friend sex addiction to cope. They get caught up in the cycle of addiction. Stress or boredom leads to sex seeking behaviors, which leads to acting out sexually, which leads to remorse, shame, and fear of being found out which leads to more stress or numbing out (boredom) and the cycle begins again. The addict may have tried to quit always going back for more. The problem is that the shame feeling actually keeps the sex addict in the addiction cycle. Teresa Maples Certified Sexual Addiction Expert says, I teach people to tell their story. Often I am the first person they have ever told that they had been molested as a child. Research has shown, most addictions are a result of some trauma a person endured as a child. Telling the story of the trauma is healing. I developed a blog called “couples thrive” to address the issues surrounding couples and sex addiction. It is a difficult journey and many marriages topple without help and guidance. Couples need a roadmap or guide to find a way to stay together. Sexual Addiction is a disorder that requires strategies to assist you in maintaining recovery. Don't Be Fooled by the Sex Addict with Carol the Coach
If you suspect that your partner, someone you love and trust most in the world, is hiding a secret life as a sex addict from you, it can be devastating and traumatizing. The world can feel like it’s crashing down around you. Many partners of sex addicts have been fooled by the promises made by the addict even late in recovery, and find themselves starting the process all over again. The broken promises, the secrets and discoveries, the continuous lying—either deliberately or by omission—can be the most debilitating aspects of sex addiction. Many betrayed partners talk about their feelings of shock, confusion, humiliation, and anger. Discovering the deception is a lightning bolt that forever changes their world. Finally, there is a resource that can help partners whether they choose to stay in the relationship or not. Facing Heartbreak: Steps to Recovery for Partners of Sex Addicts (Gentle Path Press, 2012) takes readers through a series of specific tasks and exercises that educate, empower, and guide the partners of sex addicts through a process of recovery as they reclaim their lives from heartbreak and betrayal to hope and healing.
