Ep 111, The Switchbacks of the Valley of Shadow of Divorce

The Switchbacks of the Valley (Why Healing Feels Repetitive) Have you ever thought, "Lord, why are we talking about this again?" You thought you had forgiven. You thought you had healed. You thought you had moved forward. And then, suddenly, an old wound, fear, memory, or trigger appears again. Welcome to the switchbacks of the valley. In this episode, Dana shares a humorous hiking story from the mountains of the Pacific Northwest and reveals how the Lord often uses switchbacks in our healing journey after divorce. Although these seasons may feel repetitive, they are often God's way of strengthening our faith, building endurance, protecting our hearts, and preparing us for the next stage of the journey. The Shepherd knows the trail—even when we don't. In this episode, we'll discuss: Why healing is rarely a straight path Why God sometimes revisits old wounds The purpose of spiritual switchbacks How God builds endurance and stamina Why the long way is sometimes the safest way How to trust the Shepherd when the trail doesn't make sense Scriptures in this episode Psalm 23:3 Psalm 119:35 Psalm 121:1–2 Isaiah 55:12 Habakkuk 3:19 Remember, friend, you are not going backward. Ep 110: Following the Trail Markers and Learning to Trust

Trust is not a feeling. Trust is choosing to follow the next trail marker—even when you can't see the entire path. After the feast in the presence of our enemies, the Shepherd tells us it’s time to get up and keep walking. But that’s often when doubt and fear show up again—especially when betrayal, abandonment, and loss have taught us to be cautious about trusting. So how do we learn to trust God again when we can't see where He's taking us? In this episode, we follow five trail markers for learning to trust the Shepherd: Remember His character. God is good, merciful, and faithful. Follow today's instructions. God's Word is a lamp for our feet—not a stadium floodlight for the entire journey. Stop demanding a map. We may want explanations and blueprints, but God offers us His presence. Remember previous rescues. Your past testimonies of God's faithfulness become trail markers for the next part of the journey. Learn to trust His pace. Healing doesn't have to happen on someone else's timeline. As the Shepherd reminds us, "Limping is still moving." Then comes a mini pep talk for anyone who is afraid to trust again—to hope again, love again, serve again, or dream again. Because the Shepherd doesn't merely know the way. The Shepherd IS the way. You aren't following a map. You're following a Person. And when the trail suddenly turns into a switchback, remember: God never promised us a straight path. He promised to walk it with us. IT IS WRITTEN When doubt shows up, reach into your backpack and remind yourself: I may not know the path, but I know my Shepherd. — John 10:14 He goes before me. — Deuteronomy 31:8 He directs my steps. — Proverbs 3:5–6 He will never leave me. — Hebrews 13:5 He who began a good work in me will complete it. — Philippians 1:6 Goodness and mercy are following me. — Psalm 23:6 Trail Mix for the Journey Three things to keep in your spiritual backpack: Scripture. Gratitude. Remembrance. Because when doubt comes, you can reach into your pack and say: "The Shepherd fed me here once before. He'll feed me again." And somewhere in heaven, the Shepherd smiles and says, "Good thing I packed leftovers." 😊 Scripture Mentioned Psalm 100:5 Psalm 119:105 1 Samuel 17:37 Isaiah 40:31 John 10:14 Deuteronomy 31:8 Proverbs 3:5–6 Hebrews 13:5 Philippians 1:6 Psalm 23:6 If this episode encouraged you, please follow the podcast, leave a review, and share it with someone who may be struggling to trust God after divorce. Ep 109, Your Enemies Don't Get a Seat at the Table | VOSOD Series

Psalm 23:5 "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over." Why doesn't God simply remove our enemies? Why doesn't He silence the accusations, erase the pain, and close the mouths of the people who wounded us? Instead, He does something completely unexpected. He sets the table. In this episode of Redeemed Identity After Divorce, we continue our journey through the Valley of the Shadow of Divorce (VOSOD) and explore one of the most beautiful and surprising images in all of Scripture. Together, we'll uncover the rich Hebrew meanings behind the words shulchan (table), tsarar  (enemies), dishan (anoint), shemen (oil), kos (cup), and revayah (overflowing). We'll discover that God isn't waiting for the valley to end before He cares for us. He is offering peace, honor, protection, healing, and abundance right in the middle of it. After all, the Shepherd has become the Host. In this episode, we'll discuss: Why God prepares a table instead of removing the battle The cultural significance of hospitality in the ancient Near East What the Hebrew word tsarar teaches us about our enemies Why shame, fear, rejection, and regret are often our greatest adversaries The significance of anointing oil in Scripture The meaning behind an overflowing cup The beautiful picture of the shepherd preparing the tablelands before the sheep arrive Why your enemies may watch, but they are not allowed to sit at the table Truth Bombs 💥 Your seat at God's table was purchased by Jesus, not approved by people. 💥 God is not merely tolerating you after your divorce. He is restoring, healing, and honoring you. Identity Checks ❤️ Are you living as someone invited to God's table, or are you standing outside the tent because shame told you that you don't belong there? ❤️ What if the valley isn't evidence that God has abandoned you? What if it's the very place where He intends to reveal your true identity? Homework Assignment #1: Pull Up a Chair Place an empty chair at your kitchen table. Spend ten minutes talking with the Lord as though you were sitting at His table. Write down what you believe He would say to you. Assignment #2: Identify the Tsarar or the Enemies Make a list of everything that has been squeezing, restricting, binding, or distressing you. Then write these words at the bottom of the page: "You may watch, but you may not sit at my table." Assignment #3: Overflow Journal Every evening, write down three ways God provided for you that day. Remember this: God did not abandon you in the valley. He did not forget you in the valley. And He certainly did not leave you hungry there. The King has prepared a table. Your name is on the invitation. All you have to do is pull up a chair.   We are the fragrance of Christ, Dana   If this ministry has blessed you, you can buy me coffee through Ko-Fi: BUY ME COFFEE LINK: https://ko-fi.com/ribuymecoffeedonations   LINK TREE: https://redeemed-identity.com/links/   An encouraging word article: https://redeemed-identity.com/2024/02/19/a-word-of-encouragement-for-you/   Embracing Christ's Design: https://redeemed-identity.com/2024/03/26/embracing-christs-design-amid-divorce/   SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS:   Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/redeemidentity/ TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@redeemedidentity Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/redeemedidentityafterdivorce/#   Free ebook: Who Am I After Divorce? Ep 108, Leaving the Valley of Shadow of Divorce | VOSOD Series

You've survived the bandits, endured the echoes, wrestled with silence, discovered mercy in the cave, and surrendered everything God never intended you to carry. Now it's time to shoulder your backpack and leave the valley. In this episode of Redeemed Identity After Divorce, we're talking about what happens when healing becomes movement. The valley may have changed you, but it was never meant to define you. Together, we'll explore: Why the cave was meant to be a refuge, not a permanent residence The rocks of control, fear, shame, bitterness, and resentment that must be left behind The gifts God quietly places in our backpacks along the journey Why empty hands are often the beginning of God's greatest work How the Shepherd's rod, God's whispers, discernment, mercy, and His Word prepare us for the road ahead Why God gives us the next step instead of the entire map How Joshua's story reminds us that courage is discovered while walking in obedience If you've been camping in the Valley of the Shadow of Divorce, this episode is your invitation to stand up, shoulder your backpack, and take the next faithful step. Because the valley was never your destination. Identity Check "I am no longer defined by where I hid. I am defined by the One who called me out." Scriptures referenced: Psalm 23 1 Samuel 22 (The Cave of Adullam) Joshua 1 Psalm 119:105 Practical challenge: Don't try to conquer the next five years. Find your next trail marker. Take one faithful step. Remember, friend, divorce is a sandstorm ... and the map is upside down. But the Shepherd still knows the way. EP 107, What Are You Leaving in the Valley? | VOSOD Series

not to take with you? In this episode of the Valley of Divorce series, we're standing at the edge of the Valley and asking one life-changing question: What are you willing to leave behind? Divorce often leaves us carrying far more than grief. We pick up fear, shame, bitterness, false identities, unhealthy patterns, and the exhausting need to control what we were never meant to carry. But before God leads us into the next season, He lovingly invites us to lay those burdens down. Drawing from John 12, Romans 8 and 12, and the lives of Joseph, Jonah, David, and Jesus, we'll discover that the Valley isn't just a place of survival—it's a place of surrender and transformation. In this episode you'll discover: Why a seed must "break open" before it bears fruit. The surprising burden God asked me to surrender after my divorce. Why truth matters—but why you don't have to spend your life serving on the jury of your own case. How the Valley whispers false identities—and why God's Word has the final say. Why God doesn't waste valleys... He uses them to prepare us for what's next. Reflection Homework: Grab a backpack and a few rocks. This simple visual exercise may become one of the most powerful moments in your healing journey as you identify what God is asking you to leave in the Valley. Remember... You are not what happened to you. You are who Christ says you are. "It is written." Next time, we'll stop talking about what to leave behind and discover what God wants you to carry out of the Valley. Scriptures in this episode: John 12:20-26 Romans 8:28-29 Romans 12:2 Hebrews 13:5 Ephesians 1:4 2 Corinthians 5:17 Psalm 23 Romans 11:29 Luke 4:1-14 Blessings, Dana   Amazon:   Healing After Divorce Paperback: https://a.co/d/8mjG6dp     WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE SHOW:   PODCAST:   APPLE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/redeemed-identity-after-divorce-christian-divorce-encouragement/id1752761447   YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@RedeemedIdentityAfterDivorce

Ep 106, The Cave is no Longer Your Home! | VOSOD Series

After divorce, it's natural to want to hide. Maybe you've pulled away from friends, stopped serving, or found yourself retreating into what feels like an emotional cave. If so, you're not alone—and you may be surprised to discover that God has a purpose for caves. In this episode of Redeemed Identity After Divorce, we're continuing our Valley of the Shadow of Divorce series by exploring how God often uses hidden places to protect us, restore us, and prepare us for what's next. Throughout Scripture, caves were places of refuge. David found shelter in the Cave of Adullam. Elijah encountered God's gentle voice in a cave. These weren't places of defeat—they were places of transformation. But there's also an important warning. The cave that once protected you can become the place that keeps you stuck. God never intended the cave to become your permanent address. If you've been hiding, healing, or wondering whether it's time to step back into life again, this episode is for you. In this episode, you'll discover: Why God sometimes leads us into seasons of hiddenness What David's Cave of Adullam teaches us about healing after divorce The difference between resting and hiding How God's provision can become our prison if we're not careful Practical steps for recognizing when it's time to leave the cave and continue your journey with the Shepherd Key Scripture 1 Samuel 22:1–2 Psalm 57 Romans 8:29 1 Kings 19 Truth Bombs 💣 God hides people He intends to heal—not people He intends to abandon. 💣 Resting in the cave is healthy. Building a house there is not. 💣 The Shepherd never calls you to stay where He only intended you to recover. Ep 105, The Valley of Divorce: When God Feels Silent | VOSOD Series

Have you ever prayed for your marriage, your healing, or your future... only to be met with silence?   If you've wondered whether God has stopped listening—or worse, stopped caring—you're not alone.   In this episode of Redeemed Identity After Divorce, Dana continues the Valley of the Shadow of Divorce series by looking at the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. After one of the greatest victories of his life, Elijah found himself exhausted, afraid, isolated, and convinced he was alone. Yet it was in the quiet of the cave that God met him—not with wind, fire, or an earthquake, but with a gentle whisper.   Discover why God's silence is never the same as His absence, how fear distorts what faith once believed, and why your divorce has not canceled your calling. If you're walking through a season where Heaven feels quiet, this episode will remind you that the Good Shepherd never leaves the valley. In This Episode Why fear tries to distort what faith just realized How isolation magnifies emotional pain after divorce The importance of allowing God to restore you before redirecting you Why honest conversations with God deepen intimacy What Elijah's cave teaches us about hearing God's voice How God reframes our story and gives us a new assignment Practical steps for trusting God when He feels silent Key Scriptures 1 Kings 19:1–21 Psalm 46:10 Psalm 56:3–4 Psalm 62:8 Psalm 23:2–3 Matthew 11:28–30 John 10:27 2 Timothy 1:7 Hebrews 4:15–16 Hebrews 10:24–25 1 Peter 5:8–9 Jeremiah 29:11 Philippians 1:6 Truth to Remember "God's silence is not God's absence." "Fear tells you what might happen. Faith remembers what God already did." "God isn't writing your obituary. Ep 103, Lies and Echoes in the Valley of Divorce | VOSOD Series

The divorce may be over, but the voices often remain. In this episode, Dana explores one of the most overlooked realities of life after divorce: the echoes that linger long after the event itself has ended. Old accusations, painful memories, labels, rejection, shame, and fear can continue to reverberate through our minds, influencing how we see ourselves and our future. Drawing from Psalm 23 and the ongoing Valley of the Shadow of Death of Divorce (VOSOD) series, you'll discover why echoes are so powerful, how they shape identity, and how to recognize the difference between the voices of the past and the voice of the Shepherd. If you've ever found yourself replaying old conversations, reliving painful moments, or struggling to silence the accusations that follow relational loss, this episode is for you. In This Episode: Why the valley of divorce has echoes How old wounds continue speaking into the present The difference between an echo and the voice of truth Recognizing the lies that shape identity Learning to hear the Shepherd above the noise Identity Check: What voices from your past still influence how you see yourself? Are you listening to an echo or to truth? What labels have you accepted that God never gave you? Whose voice has the greatest authority in your life today? Key Scripture: Psalm 23 The valley may contain echoes, but the Shepherd's voice is still greater. Ep 102, Camping in the Valley of the Shadow of Divorce | VOSOD Series

When the Valley of Death Becomes Home After Divorce, The danger of camping in grief and unhealed pain. Have you ever felt like you've been stuck in the same painful place for years after divorce? Maybe you've survived the crisis, signed the papers, rebuilt parts of your life, and yet something still feels heavy. The grief lingers. The joy feels distant. The darkness keeps pulling you back. In this episode, Dana shares a deeply personal story about her own struggle with depression seven years after her divorce and the surprising revelation the Holy Spirit gave her: stale grief. Drawing from Psalm 9:9-10 and Hebrews 4:15-16, we'll explore what happens when we stop walking through the Valley of the Shadow of Death and unintentionally make a home there. We'll talk about the caves we hide in—grief, bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, trauma—and how God lovingly calls us back into the healing journey. If you've ever wondered why you're still carrying pain from your divorce, this episode offers hope, practical insight, and a powerful healing exercise to help you identify areas of unprocessed grief. In This Episode: What "stale grief" is and how it can affect your healing • Why unresolved pain often turns into depression, hopelessness, or emotional stagnation • The dangers of camping in the caves of anger, bitterness, trauma, and unforgiveness • Why real faith includes honest conversations with God • Lessons Dana learned during her own "cavern season" of healing • A practical journaling exercise to uncover hidden grief and begin processing it with the Holy Spirit • Truth Bombs for navigating the Valley of Divorce with purpose and hope Key Scriptures: 📖 Psalm 9:9-10 📖 Hebrews 4:15-16 📖 Philippians 3:13-14 Homework Challenge: Create a timeline of the significant losses, disappointments, betrayals, and painful experiences in your life. Then ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where grief remains unfinished and invite Him into the healing process. Remember: Divorce is a sandstorm... and there are days it will feel like someone stole your umbrella. Ep 99, Unforgiveness After Divorce, Why Your Soul Feels Exhausted

Unforgiveness doesn’t just affect your emotions — it affects your mind, body, and spirit. In this episode, we talk honestly about the hidden exhaustion that comes from carrying bitterness, replaying betrayal, and holding onto wounds from divorce, rejection, or deep hurt. Forgiveness is not pretending it didn’t happen. It’s not excusing abuse or giving someone access to hurt you again. It’s releasing the burden so your soul can finally breathe again. If you’ve been feeling emotionally drained, spiritually stuck, anxious, angry, or unable to move forward after divorce, this episode is for you. We’ll talk about: Why unforgiveness keeps your nervous system in survival mode The spiritual consequences of bitterness Why forgiveness does NOT mean reconciliation How trauma and resentment affect the body The difference between forgiveness and trust How the Holy Spirit helps us forgive daily Why letting go is part of healing Scriptures referenced: Matthew 11:28-30 Ephesians 4:31-32 Matthew 6:14-15 Colossians 3:13 Philippians 4:13 Luke 23:34 If this episode encouraged you, please leave a review and share it with someone who may need healing and freedom today.   We are the fragrance of Christ, Dana   BUY ME COFFEE LINK:   If this podcast has encouraged you, you can support my work here ☕💛 It truly helps me keep creating episodes for people healing after divorce. https://ko-fi.com/ribuymecoffeedonations   WEBSITE: www.redeemed-identity.com LINK TREE: https://redeemed-identity.com/links/   SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS:   Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/redeemidentity/ TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@redeemedidentity Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/redeemedidentityafterdivorce/#   Amazon: Healing After Divorce Paperback: https://a.co/d/8mjG6dp   WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE SHOW:   PODCAST: APPLE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/redeemed-identity-after-divorce-christian-divorce-encouragement/id1752761447   YOUTUBE:   https://www.youtube.com/@RedeemedIdentityAfterDivorce

Ep 90, Understanding Porn Addiction and the Path to Healing from a Pastoral Perspective

⚠️ Disclaimer This episode discusses pornography, sexual immorality, betrayal trauma, and marital restoration. While no explicit details are shared, the themes may be emotionally triggering. Listen with care and step away if needed.   Episode Summary Pornography is one of the quietest home-wreckers in Christian marriages—not because people don’t care, but because they’re afraid to talk about it. In this episode, we sit down with Pastor Ben Brinkman of Canvas Church to unpack the spiritual, emotional, and relational impact of pornography from a pastoral perspective. We talk honestly about betrayal, repentance, biblical grounds for divorce, and the hidden damage that ongoing pornography use can cause. Whether you’re the one struggling or the spouse carrying the weight of secrecy and lies, this conversation offers clarity, hope, and a path toward healing. 👤 Guest: Pastor Ben Brinkman, Canvas Church – San Diego Pastor Ben and his wife Katie have been in ministry since 1999 and are passionate about helping people grow in faith and experience real transformation. Known for his humor, biblical clarity, and practical teaching, Pastor Ben brings a grounded, grace-filled perspective to this difficult conversation.   🗣️ What We Discuss in This Episode Why pornography is often a hidden root issue in struggling marriages Whether pornography use qualifies as a form of infidelity How betrayal trauma impacts the heart and mind of the wounded spouse Where pornography fits within Jesus’ teaching on sexual immorality in Matthew 19 The emotional and spiritual fallout of repeated lying, gaslighting, or secrecy What true repentance looks like—and when someone needs professional help How pastors and churches can better support BOTH spouses without pressure or shame Why “just reconcile” can be harmful when safety and emotional well-being are ignored What someone should know if they’re realizing, "This is my marriage..."   💛 Listener Reflection (Outro) Before you close this episode, take a breath. Whatever came up—grief, conviction, anger, clarity—those feelings matter. If you’re struggling with pornography, freedom begins with honesty, not hiding. If you’ve been betrayed, you’re allowed to seek safety, healing, and truth. You are not weak or unspiritual for needing support beyond prayer. Jesus’ teaching on sexual immorality is meant to protect hearts, not shame them. Sit with this conversation, pray through it, and reach out to safe, wise support if needed. Pastor Ben closes us with a powerful prayer for all listeners walking this road.   RESOURCES   Episode on Betrayal Trauma On YouTube: https://youtu.be/C1e1ZWziB7E   Ted Roberts, Pure Desire:   Covenant Eyes:   YouTube Version: https:  //youtu.be/M6MGb3pMz4E       🔗 Connect with Redeemed Identity After Divorce WEBSITE: www.redeemed-identity.com LINK TREE: https://redeemed-identity.com/links/ SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/redeemidentity/ TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@redeemedidentity Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/redeemedidentityafterdivorce/#   Amazon:   Healing After Divorce Paperback: https://a.co/d/8mjG6dp   Healing After Divorce ebook https://a.co/d/etcpVyR     WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE SHOW:   PODCAST:   APPLE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/redeemed-identity-after-divorce-christian-divorce-encouragement/id1752761447   YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@RedeemedIdentityAfterDivorce

Ep 84, Healing After Divorce, Guest Appearance on From Run Down to Renewed

Guest Appearance Spotlight: From Run Down to Renewed This past week, I had the honor of joining Mackenzi and Denise on their podcast, From Run Down to Renewed. With their permission, I’m sharing this conversation with the Redeemed Identity After Divorce community. This episode originally aired on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, and it’s one of those conversations that feels more like an exhale than a teaching. This Episode Is for You If: You feel tired, worn down, or emotionally drained You’ve walked through loss, divorce, trauma, or a painful life transition You’re longing for healing but don’t know where to begin You desire to live abundantly—but not the world’s definition of abundance This conversation is an invitation to pause, breathe, and remember a powerful truth: God is your source—not your circumstances. We talk about how abundance isn’t about having more—it’s about living from fullness instead of emptiness. Together, we explore how healing begins when you: Shift from striving to trusting God Allow Him to fill what life has drained Root your identity in Christ—not outcomes, roles, or relationship status 👉 WATCH the full conversation on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxCdy9WggE-Q5g9-t6UVx6MTXu9i9hE6L_ Stay Connected with From Run Down to Renewed Website & Socials: 👉 www.fromrundowntorenewed.com 🎓 Upcoming Webinar – February 28 👉 https://www.fromrundowntorenewed.com/… Stay Connected with Dana Website: www.redeemed-identity.com YouTube: @redeemedidentityafterdivorce Apple Podcasts: Redeemed Identity After Divorce

Ep 83, Exhausted After Divorce? The Missing Key to Healing, Pt 2

Divorce is exhausting—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. And yet, rest is often the first thing we sacrifice while trying to “hold it all together.”   In this episode, Dana sits down with life and leadership coach Misty Hughes to talk about why rest isn’t optional during or after divorce—it’s essential for healing. Misty shares her personal journey through divorce, motherhood, and rebuilding her life, along with practical wisdom for women who feel overwhelmed, depleted, or stuck in survival mode. Together, they unpack what real rest looks like (hint: it’s more than sleep), why grief requires personalized rhythms, and how trust, community, and reflection play a vital role in emotional recovery. This conversation is honest, grounding, and permission-giving—especially if you’ve been pushing yourself to “be strong” while quietly running on empty. If you’re exhausted after divorce and wondering why healing feels so hard, this episode may help you exhale and reset.   In This Episode, We Finish with Misty and discuss: Why rest is critical during and after divorce The difference between collapsing and intentional rest How grief and healing look different for everyone Creating life rhythms that support peace and stability The role of trust in emotional recovery Why community support accelerates healing Journaling and reflection as tools for processing pain Making space for joy and fun for yourself and your family How coaching can provide clarity and support during hard seasons.   Misty's Contact Information:   Misty Hughes, Transformational Speaker, Podcast Host, Gratitude Guide, Celebration Coach P: 816-297-9919 E: [email protected] lead-herministries.com mom2mommentoring.com

Ep 81, Healing from Divorce is a Different Kind of Battle

Healing after divorce can feel like a nonstop fight—emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. You’re doing your best to stay strong, pray harder, and keep moving forward… yet you still feel exhausted and overwhelmed. In this episode, we look at 2 Chronicles 20 and the powerful story of King Jehoshaphat—a leader who faced an impossible battle and discovered that victory doesn’t always come from fighting harder. Sometimes, it comes from trusting God in a completely different way. We talk about the importance of prayer, worship, honesty with God, and community while healing from divorce—and why isolation, silence, and self-reliance can actually slow your healing. If you’re feeling outnumbered in this season, this conversation will help reframe the battle and remind you that God meets us in the middle of the fight. In This Episode, You’ll Learn: Why healing after divorce feels like spiritual warfare What 2 Chronicles 20 teaches us about prayer and worship The danger of isolating while trying to heal Why honesty with God matters more than “perfect” prayers How worship shifts the battle—even when circumstances don’t change What it looks like to trust God when you don’t know what to do   Reflection Questions: Where do you feel most overwhelmed or outnumbered right now? Why is it hard to be completely honest with God in prayer? What does worship look like in your daily life—passive or active? Are your prayers rooted in fear, frustration, or trust?   Homework (Yes, Really): Find a prayer partner and commit to praying together Practice honest, unfiltered prayer Spend intentional time in praise and worship Pray Scripture over your situation instead of rehearsing the problem   Scripture Referenced: 2 Chronicles 20:1–30 (NIV)   Keywords: healing after divorce, Christian divorce recovery, worship and prayer, divorce healing, spiritual warfare, biblical healing, Christian encouragement, faith after divorce   We are the fragrance of Christ, Dana     FREE EBOOK:   https://dl.bookfunnel.com/4k769kpebf   Are you a divorced Christian needing encouragement? Ep 78, Your Truth vs. God’s Truth: How Pain After Divorce Delays Healing

Pain has a way of reshaping how we see the world—especially after divorce. In this episode, we explore how living from pain instead of God’s truth can quietly delay healing, purpose, and forward movement. Using Matthew 28 and the story of the women at the tomb, we unpack how grief distorted their expectations—and how we often do the same thing when we’ve been wounded. They came prepared to bury what they believed was dead, unaware that resurrection had already happened. If you’ve been navigating life with a broken compass—led by emotions, fear, or past experiences—this episode will help reorient you back to true north: the Word of God. This is a call to stop carrying spices for what God has already promised to raise, to trust that the stone has already been rolled away, and to step into healing with faith instead of fear. In This Episode, You’ll Hear: The difference between your truth and God’s truth Why pain can distort perspective and delay purpose How the women at the tomb forgot Jesus’ promise—and how we often do the same What it means to stop praying only from pain and start praying with expectation Why emotions make a terrible compass after divorce How God is already working on obstacles you’re still worrying about The danger of carrying “grave clothes” into your future How to leave the past at the foot of the cross and press forward Key Scriptures Referenced: Matthew 28:1–8 – The women at the tomb and the rolled-away stone Hebrews 11:1 – Faith as the substance of things hoped for Isaiah 65:24 – God answering before we even call Philippians 3:13–14 – Forgetting what is behind and pressing forward Psalm 91:1 – Dwelling in the shelter of the Most High Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is near to the brokenhearted Hebrews 13:5 – God will never leave or forsake you Reflection Questions: Are you living by God’s truth—or by pain-shaped emotions? What are you still carrying spices for that God has already promised to raise? Are you focused on past hurt so much that you’re missing future purpose? What truth will you take into your next season? Call to Action: If this episode encouraged you, please subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who may be stuck between pain and purpose. She is a powerful speaker, worship leader, and storyteller who uses real language to talk about real-life heartbreak—and the radical love of God that meets us right there. What We Cover in This Episode Conversation Highlights Radically Loved by God Janis shares when she first truly “got it”—the moment she realized just how radically loved she is by God. The Story Behind the Words (Pages 8–9) Dana reads a powerful section from the book and Janis opens up about the deep, personal story behind those words. A special focus on the closing paragraph of the chapter (page 11) and why it matters so much. “Sometimes I Get Mad at God” (Chapter 3, Page 13) Janis speaks candidly about the aftermath of her divorce—feeling abandoned, unattractive, useless, and worthless—and being angry with God. How she rose above that season What helped her rebuild her faith and identity Why Forgiveness Is So Freaking Hard (Chapter 12) Dana reads a powerful excerpt that many listeners will deeply relate to. What prompted Janis to write this devotional How forgiveness became a process—not a performance Finding real freedom after deep betrayal Key Takeaways God can handle your anger, questions, and tears Feeling broken doesn’t mean you’re faithless Forgiveness is hard—but freedom is possible Healing begins when we stop pretending and start telling the truth Where you can connect with Janis and her book: Website: https://linktr.ee/jdennis8?utm_source=linktree_profile_share Book on Amazon: https://a.co/d/hwmKXok YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/kSwQFCNAfdE   Listen & Watch 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and all major podcast platforms 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/kSwQFCNAfdE If this episode encouraged you, please subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who needs hope today. She walks you through the “rebuilding bricks” God gave her over the last few years, how those words held her steady when circumstances didn’t, and why intentionally redirecting the mind is a powerful part of healing. You’ll also hear how the valley of dry bones in Ezekiel isn’t just a dramatic Bible moment — it’s a picture of what happens when we speak God’s truth over situations that look completely lifeless. Dana also shares new research on gratitude and how it literally transforms the brain — from boosting dopamine and serotonin to calming emotional triggers and helping you shift your perspective. It’s wild how God designed us to heal from the inside out. If you remember Episode 33, this episode builds on that foundation of praying Scripture out loud and watching the atmosphere change. Dana ties it all together for this holiday season, reminding you that you don’t have to pretend things aren’t hard — but you can choose what you cling to. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why redirecting your thoughts is both simple and hard — and why it matters How gratitude rewires your brain (yes, literally) What Ezekiel’s dry bones teach us about speaking life over impossible situations How the Word of God becomes your anchor when emotions try to run the show Ways to prepare your heart for the holidays after divorce without shutting down emotionally Listen in if you need: Hope for the holiday season A reminder of God’s faithfulness Practical tools to calm your mind and emotions A nudge to speak life over the places that feel dry or heavy Encouragement to believe again — even in a tough season Resources Mentioned: Episode 33: How Praying the Word Shifts Your Atmosphere Free ebook: Who Am I After Divorce — available on Dana’s website Scriptures: Ezekiel 37:4–5, Hebrews 4:12 If this episode encourages you, share it with a friend who’s navigating a hard holiday season. Ep 72: How God Builds a Well Out of the Very Pit Divorce Pushed You Into

In today’s episode, we’re talking about something simple, steady, and powerful: how to build a prayer focus after divorce, one word at a time—just like laying bricks on a wall. For years, the Lord has given me one or two “focus words” each year, along with scriptures that anchor my prayers. What I didn’t realize until recently was how each word built on the last… and how God was quietly rebuilding my life brick by brick. In this episode, I’m walking you through my yearly “bricks” from 2020 to now—Hope, Endurance, Rebuilding, Transition, Focus, Shepherding, Obedience, and more—and showing you how this simple practice became a blueprint for healing after divorce. Inside this episode: Why we’re seeing so much shaking in the world—and why righteousness comes before revival How yearly “focus words” create a stable prayer foundation The scriptures God used to rebuild me over the last five years How to receive your own word for the coming year A prayer over your healing and your future In His Service, Dana Mentioned in this episode: 🎥 Redeemed Identity After Divorce on YouTube 🌐 www.redeemed-identity.com 📩 Email: [email protected] LINK TREE: https://redeemed-identity.com/links/ SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS:   Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/redeemidentity/ TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@redeemedidentity Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/redeemedidentityafterdivorce/# Book Funnel: Who AM I After Divorce: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/4k769kpebf   Amazon: Healing After Divorce Paperback: https://a.co/d/8mjG6dp Healing After Divorce ebook https://a.co/d/etcpVyR WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE SHOW:   YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@RedeemedIdentityAfterDivorce   If this episode blessed you, please leave a review—it helps other divorced believers find hope, community, and restoration.

Ep 71, When Pain Becomes Your Armor After Divorce

Have you ever realized that the pain you carry might be protecting you—but also holding you back? In this episode, Dana dives into how unresolved hurt can become armor, keeping us from fully embracing God’s love and grace. Drawing from personal experiences with judgment, gossip, and navigating post-divorce relationships, Dana shares how the Lord revealed hidden wounds, guided her to Isaiah 50:4-7, and showed her how to replace painful armor with a banner of His love. Learn practical ways to: Recognize where pain has become a defense mechanism in your life. Release offense and judgment from others. Stand strong in God’s grace and truth, even when others’ words sting. Cover yourself and others with God’s love instead of armor. If you’ve been carrying pain as a shield, this episode is a gentle, powerful reminder that God’s love heals, restores, and transforms. Ep 58, Spiritual Warfare After Divorce, Breaking Soul Ties to Find Freedom

In this information-packed episode, we dive deep into the hidden spiritual realities that often remain after a divorce—specifically, the soul ties that may still be binding you to your former spouse. Even after signing the divorce papers, spiritual connections can leave doors open for demonic harassment, emotional pain, and delayed healing. We explore: ✅ What soul ties are and how they form ✅ How adultery, occult involvement, and emotional entanglements affect soul ties ✅ Why spiritual warfare is necessary even after legal divorce ✅ How to break ungodly soul ties and shut the door on the enemy ✅ A 5-step Biblical process to renounce, repent, and rebuild Whether you’ve experienced betrayal, emotional trauma, or just feel “stuck” after divorce, this episode is for you.   🧠 Key Takeaways: Soul ties are deep, spiritual bonds that can be both godly and ungodly. Just because a marriage is legally over doesn’t mean the spiritual connection is broken. Unrighteous soul ties can create legal ground for the enemy in your life.
