Running Buddies featuring Damian Hall
On todays show we are thrilled to be joining ultra runner and activist Damian Hall as he runs in the soggy English countryside. We recount how Hall's previous career as a published journalist directly influenced his ultrarunning approach, and accelerated his training and racing by requiring compelling narrative "jeopardy" for assignments. We then dive into to Hall's activist pursuits, addressing his work with organizations like The Green Runners and Into Ultra, which promote sustainability and inclusion in the sport. Hall details Into Ultra works to counteract the financial barriers that often prevent individuals from underrepresented groups from accessing competitive trail running, advocating for greater equity and diversity. I finish by asking Hall about the increasing professionalization of races, particularly how major events align with high-carbon sponsors, leading to ethical issues like sport washing. And to top it all off we even get a "Running Scared" story at the end of the conversation. Rucking Around - Interview w/Chris Vick (Squatch Survival Gear)
On todays episode of Rucking Around, host Ari Fleman chats with guest Chris Vick, owner of Squatch Survival Gear. Chris, a former airborne infantry soldier, explains that his business was born out of modifying his uncomfortable military Alice pack and later using rucking to manage PTSD and chronic injuries following his service. The company's core mission is to overcome existing industry flaws by prioritizing comfort and endurance in pack design, recognizing that proper fit is crucial for both physical and mental resilience during long events. Chris emphasizes that packs intended for carrying significant weight must incorporate a true pack frame and be ergonomically designed to distribute the load across the body’s power zone rather than relying solely on connective tissues. They also cover market trends, noting the importance of considering biometric differences when designing gear, leading to new products like a specialized chest strap for women. they wrap it up by offering general advice for new ruckers regarding how to safely adjust the variables of weight, speed, and distance in their training.Follow Chris on Instagram @squatchsurvivalgearVisit the website: squatchsurvivalgear.comSupport the showSubscribe to Running Scared Media wherever you get your podcasts for more episodes!RunningScaredMedia.comVisit our shop to purchase our jogcasts and other merchEmail us at: [email protected] us:Instagram @runningscaredmediaJoin our FB Running Group

Running Buddies featuring Michael Wardian
Today’s episode is a fun one. We’re hanging out with friend of the pod, ultra‑runner Michael Wardian. If you’ve been following along, you might remember we teamed up with Mike a while back to create an audio drama about his run at Badwater 135 — called “Inferno.” When we launched Running Buddies, he was all in, so it’s always great to reconnect. This time, we tagged along for a run through the streets of Arlington with one of the true legends in the running world.Mike’s story is wild. He’s knocked out the Appalachian Trail, pulled off seven marathons on seven continents in seven days, and somehow balances all that with being a dad, an international ship broker, and a competitive athlete across different sports. Pickleball anyone? We got into his training routine, what’s next on his fitness horizon, and even his plan to row across the Atlantic (yup, you heard that right). He opened up about his philosophy on running, what fuels his competitive drive, and how he stares down fear. The big takeaway? Mike keeps coming back to consistency, setting goals, and chasing adventure. And for anyone just starting out, his advice is simple but powerful: make your commitments public — it keeps you accountable.Follow Mike on Instgram @mikewardianSupport the showSubscribe to Running Scared Media wherever you get your podcasts for more episodes!RunningScaredMedia.comVisit our shop to purchase our jogcasts and other merchEmail us at: [email protected] us:Instagram @runningscaredmediaJoin our FB Running Group

Sole Sisters - Treadmill Trivia
Justine, your host, is running for the entire podcast. But this isn't just a simple run—it’s The Trivia Treadmill Torture, a chaotic game designed by one half of the podcast duo who also happen to be trivia hosts at various pubs around town. The rules are simple: Justine must start running at a 3 mph brisk walk pace. Every trivia question she gets wrong, she must increase her speed. Her only hope for survival is to answer the questions correctly! Listen as Justine navigates four categories—Marathons, Miscellaneous, Music, and Twilight! Will knowing that a half marathon was once run backwards in under an hour and 40 minutes or correctly identifying a "negative split" save her from a grueling pace? Or will Kylie’s questions about the original enemies of the ancient Greeks, or the unexpected alcoholic fuel of choice for Victorian runners force her to speed up?Tune in to find out if Justine survives this hilarious, pace-changing chaos, or if the final, random question about the top speed of a spider monkey pushes her past her breaking point right before the cooldown. Episode 50 Anaconda (1997) featuring Miles Klee
A couple years ago we released our 50th episode and suggested a requel for Anaconda centred around the story of snake hunter Paul Serone. We even recorded an original trailer and song! While not completely in line with the plot of the new film we felt the snake needed to central in any reboot. Its a good feeling to know the big studio makers felt the same way! Have a listen and have a laugh! It's our 50th episode! We celebrate our milestone by returning to the movie that has not only consumed our lives by inspiring this podcast, but also regurgitated our friendship. That's right, we're doing Anaconda (1997) AGAIN. But this time, co-hosts Robert Lendrum and Jamie Roberts have brought along the very funny and intelligent Miles Klee of Rolling Stone magazine as our special guest to deconstruct the madness of Jon Voight's performance as Paul Serone. Plus, we brainstorm what a prequel (or requel) of Anaconda would look like with our own mock trailer. Finally, we create the definitive drinking game bingo card for your next Anaconda viewing party. (original show notes)The episode that was too fun to keep off the feed - the long awaited Anaconda Recast! Co-hosts Jamie and Rob take radically different approaches to recasting the 1997 cult classic with hilarious results. Does Rob know the names of any actors? What's Jamie's problem with Ed Sheeran?
