All Intros, Outros, and drops were AI-generated by SUNO Leave your questions at: Leave a Voice Message Leave your smack talk at: [email protected] Trivia Answer: It was 1962! Modern fantasy football can be traced back to Wilfred "Bill" Winkenbach, an Oakland, California businessman and limited partner in the Oakland Raiders. In a New York City hotel room during a 1962 Raiders cross-country trip, Winkenbach, Raiders public relations employee Bill Tunnel, and Oakland Tribune reporter Scotty Stirling developed the rules that would eventually become the basis of modern fantasy football. The inaugural league was called the Greater Oakland Professional Pigskin Prognosticators League (GOPPPL), and the first draft took place in Winkenbach's home in Oakland in August 1963.[6] The league consisted of eight members: administrative affiliates of the American Football League, pro football journalists, and individuals who had purchased or sold 10 season tickets for the Raiders' 1963 season. Each roster consisted of two quarterbacks, four halfbacks, two fullbacks, four wide receivers or tight ends, two return specialists, two kickers, two defensive backs or linebackers, and two defensive linemen. The scoring system was entirely dependent on real-life scoring, and[a] The original system rewarded 25 points for a touchdown pass, rush, or reception, 25 for a field goal, 10 for an extra point, and 200 for a kickoff, punt, or interception that was returned for a touchdown. As of 2015, the GOPPPL was still active and had maintained the original scoring system.

The Bengals, needing a win to make the playoffs, lost 29-21 to the Vikings, who clinched a spot with their win. Non-Football Trivia - In 1955, a misprinted phone number went to a NORAD phone, and the Colonel on duty decided to answer the kids' questions about where Santa was the next year after such a positive public relations coup for the agency it was decided to continue the efforts and thus every since NORAD has been tracking Santa.

The Yellow Jackets, in their second NFL season, played 22(!) games that year, ending with a 15-7 record and in 6th place behind the eventual champions Chicago Cardinals, who won when Pottsville Maroons were suspended for playing an illegal game, ironically for playing too close to Frankford! The Yellow Jackets won one NFL Title in 1926. Frankford, a suburb of Philadelphia, played in the NFL From 1924 to 1931, when they went under. Turducken
All Intros, Outros, and drops were AI-generated by SUNO Leave your questions at: Leave a Voice Message Leave your smack talk at: [email protected] Football Trivia The Steelers became the fifth team since 2000 to win multiple games in a season without scoring a touchdown, joining the 2000 Ravens, 2000 Titans, 2002 Buccaneers, and 2016 Rams. The Ravens and Titans both made the playoffs in 2000, with the Ravens winning the Super Bowl, the Bucs also won the Super Bowl the year they did this, and the Rams were the odd one out, going 4-12 with two of their wins coming as a result of three field goals. Non-Football Trivia - Pronounced tur-duhk-uhn, a turducken is a deboned chicken stuffed inside a deboned duck stuffed inside a mostly deboned turkey (its wings and legs are left intact). There’s usually stuffing inside the chicken and between each bird. It’s the ultimate poultry dish. It’s widely believed that Louisiana chef Paul Prudhomme invented this extravagant dish in the 1970s or 1980s. He trademarked the name in 1986 and served it at his southern restaurant, K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen. Madden first had the Turducken, not on Thanksgiving, but on Dec 1, 1996, during a game between the Rams vs Saints. The following year in 1997, was the first time he mentioned it on a Thanksgiving day game, not only showing the dish but eating it with his bare hands!!! The six legs of the Turducken also allowed Madden to give one to each O-lineman after a game! If you really want crazy, get the rôti sans pareil—the roast without equal—created by French gastronomist Alexandre Balthazar Laurent Grimod de la Reynière in the 1807 cookbook L'almanach des gourmands. Rôti sans pareil stuffs 17 birds inside each other: a bustard, chicken, duck, garden warbler, goose, guinea fowl, lapwing, lark, ortolan bunting, partridge, pheasant, plover, quail, teal, thrush, turkey, and woodcock ... plus all this other stuff including an olive stuffed with an anchovy stuffed with a single caper, plus pork stuffing—it's ridiculous!

Although it is unknown precisely where and when the phrase “trick or treat” was coined, the custom had been firmly established in American popular culture by 1951, when trick-or-treating was depicted in the Peanuts comic strip. In 1952, Disney produced a cartoon called “Trick or Treat” featuring Donald Duck and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and since then, it as been the standard greeting for trick and treating. Football Trivia - it has happened a 7 times that a time has had the number one pick in back to back years. 1939//40 the Chicago Cardinals (now in Arizona) took Ki Aldrich and Geroge Cafego 1976/77 the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers took Ley Roy Selsom and Ricky Bell. 1986/87 the Bucs did it again drafting Bo Jackson (who never played a down for them, insulted by their offer when to baseball) and Vinny Testaverde 1994/95 the Bengals add to the party picking Dan Wilkinson and Ki-Jana Carter 1999/2000 the expansion Cleveland Browns took Tim Couch and Courtney Brown 2017/18 the Browns again, with Myles Garrett and Baker Mayfield 2021/22 the Jacksonville Jaguars go with Trevor Lawrence and Travon Walker.

Only 29 times has a QB thrown for less than 5 yards an attempt and won the game. (Nix included) That means in the modern era, if your QB throws for 5 yards or less an attempt…you have a 2.5% chance to win… All time in the 16,000 or so games played this has only happened 534 times… The three worst…are all under 3 yards an attempt! 1. Miami’s own Ben Roethlisberger beat Cleveland 26-14 throwing 46 times for 123 yards, 2.7 yards an attempt in a 26-14 win. 2. The immortal Jake Delhomme and the Panthers beat the Raiders 17-6 while going 7-27 for 72 yards (2.7 an attempt). The Raiders QB Andrew Walter only managed 4.3 yards an attempt as well in a game with 7 turnovers. 3. Nix’s win this weekend was the lowest of all, with a measly 2.4 yards an attempt Five quarterbacks have won this way twice, including Farve, Bledsoe, Brad Johnson, Jim Miller, and Mike McMahon. The Bears have done it the most, four times! Cincinnati has done it twice, both times against the Browns. Intro music and drops by SUNO.com Leave your questions at: Leave a Voice Message Leave your smack talk at: [email protected] Trivia (yes, it's hard; yes, it's football): The Steelers' Chris Boswell (K) scored all 18 of his team's points Sunday on field goals and got off a 40-yard or more punt. How long has it been since that happened? Maybe keep Saquon next time. Giants quarterback Danial Jones has thrown 3 pick sixes compared to 2 TDs since signing a four-year, 160 million-dollar contract. Remember the Titans? - The Bears' win over the Titans was the first time a team with less than 150 yards total offense had returned from a 17-point deficit. Just skip to week three - The Patriots' win over the Bengals on opening day was the largest upset in six years. The Pats were 7.5-point underdogs. The Bengals are 1-10 under Zac Taylor in the year's first two games and 41-37-1 every other week… Young and Younger… - Mike Macdonald is now the youngest coach in the league at 38 years old. Sean McVey (Miami’s own), despite being a head coach for eight years, is still the second youngest coach in the league, only six months older than Macdonald. Scorigami!!! - 49ers 32 Jet 19 That's Scorigami!! It's the 1085th unique final score in NFL history. If you want to learn more about Scorigami - https://nflscorigami.com/ Trivia Answer – it has been 48 years since a player scored every point for his team. It’s only happened seven times since 1960. Dave Green did it for Tampa Bay in 1976 (the year they went 0-14), where he was 3-4 on field goals and punted five times for a 40-yard average. He was a punter who also kicked field goals, went to Athens High School (same as Joe Burrow) and Ohio University, and played six years in the NFL; his one winning season as a pro came in Cincinnati as well.

With Sunday’s win at Seattle, Tomlin moved past George Halas (16) into third on the all-time list of consecutive non-losing seasons. Who are the two Coaches ahead of him? Pop Culture Trivia - What year was the first Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop? When was that??? - The Lions won the NFC North, their first division title since 1993…to put that in perspective that year: Bill Clinton was sworn in as the President for the first time Michael Jordan left Basketball to play Baseball Beanie Babies were first released The first Jurrasic Park movie was released Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake join Britney and Christina in "The New Mickey Mouse Club." So You're Saying There is a Chance? - 20 teams are still in contention for a trip to the Super Bowl, which ties for the most with one week remaining in the last 41 years, since a record 22 in 1982. Of course, 82 was a strike year, and 16 teams made the playoffs in a weird shortened season. D Adams is the best thing about the Raiders - Adams is the fifth player with four career seasons of 1,300 receiving yards and double-digit touchdowns. Rice, Moss, Harrison, and Owens are the other four. Purdy Good - Brock Purdy passed Justin Herbert and tied Russell Wilson for the most games with a 110-plus passer rating in a player’s first two seasons. MVP - Lamar Jackson moved into a tie for the most games with a perfect passer rating in NFL history (three), joining the likes of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner, and Ben Roethlisberger. Pat’s Pretty Good as Well - Patrick Mahomes joined HOFer Peyton Manning as the only player with 4,000-plus passing yards in six or more of a player's first seven seasons. Mahomes' only season under 4,000 was his rookie season in 2017, when he only started one game. Records that could be set this Week - Tyreek Hill needs 247 yards to pass Calvin Johnsons' record for receiving yards in a season. Puka Nucua needs three catches and 29 receiving yards in Week 18 to set a new record. The WR’s 101 catches are second-most behind Jaylen Waddle’s 104 (2021), and his 1445 yards are third behind Ja’Marr Chase (1,455) and the record holder, Bill Gorman (1,473), who set the record in 1960 with Houston in the AFL. Lions TE Sam LaPorta needs one catch to break the rookie TE catch record. Football Trivia Answer - Tomlin is behind Bill Belichick (19, from 2001 to 2019) and Tom Landry (20, from 1965 to 1985). Pop Culture Trivia - First held on December 31, 1907, to welcome 1908, organized by Adolph Ochs, owner of The New York Times newspaper, as a successor to a series of New Year's Eve fireworks displays he held at the building to promote its status as the new headquarters of the Times. The ball drop has been held annually, except in 1942 and 1943, in observance of wartime blackouts when a moment of silence was observed along with the playing of a recording of church bells. The ball's design has been updated four times to reflect improvements in lighting technology; the original ball was 5 feet (1.5 m) in diameter, constructed from wood and iron, and illuminated with 100 incandescent light bulbs. By contrast, the current (fifth) ball is 12 feet (3.7 m) in diameter and uses over 32,000 LED lamps. Since 1999–2000, the ball has featured an outer surface consisting of triangular panels manufactured by Waterford Crystal, which contain inscriptions representing a yearly theme.

The last time that happened, America was at war…in 1943! It was the first 3-0 game since Pittsburgh beat Miami on Nov. 26, 2007, the third in the past 40 years and the seventh in the Super Bowl era; it was also the only such game played indoors. All the others (the Steelers/Miami game, for example, was played in rain so intense that a punt stuck in the field like a lawn dart!) were outside and in some sort of weather. Mostert is the Most - Raheem Mostert’s rushed for his 17th touchdown of the season, a Dolphins team record. It's the fourth-most in a season by an undrafted player in the common-draft era. Tua may have an arm - Tua Tagovailoa’s 60-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Waddle traveled 48.59 yards in air distance. It was only Tagovailoa’s seventh-farthest tracked completion this year, he has six he has thrown father...which is crazy. Tee Higgins finally got going: Lost in Jake Browning's incredible second-half comeback was the resurgent play of Higgins, who caught his first touchdown pass since Week 2 in Saturday's victory. Higgins caught not one, but two, touchdown passes as he finished with four catches for 61 yards. Playing in just 10 of 14 games, Higgins has just 36 catches for 497 yards and four touchdowns, but significantly stepped up with the absence of Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder). The Bengals will need Higgins to be the No. 1 he's capable of being down the stretch, especially with Chase expected to miss time. Maybe he should have gone before Round 7? Week 15 marked Brock Purdy's 13th career start with a 100-plus passer rating. Purdy's 13 such games only trail Patrick Mahomes (16) and HOFer Kurt Warner (14) for most games with a 100-plus passer rating in a QB's first 20 starts since 1950. Remember the Titans – How crazy was the Titans’ 28–27 comeback win over the Dolphins last week? Teams down 14 points with less than three minutes to go in regulation were 0–767 since 2016 until the Titans pulled off their win. The Titans were also the first team to be down 14 points with less than 2:55 left and win without overtime. Trade Joe Burrow??? - Bengals backup quarterback Jake Browning has a 79.3 completion percentage in his first three career starts, the highest by any quarterback in their first three starts. Browning is the second quarterback since 1950 to complete at least 70 percent of his passes in his first three career starts, joining Chad Pennington, who did so in 2002 with the Jets. In addition to his 79.3 completion percentage, Browning has 856 passing yards in his three career starts. Browning and Justin Herbert (2020) are the only quarterbacks since 1950 with at least 800 passing yards and a completion percentage of 70-plus for their first three starts. Oh, and as of today… the Bengals are in the playoffs. Who would have thought that a few weeks ago? Football Trivia Answer - 14 is the record, and three games are tied for that “honor” all before the Super Bowl Era. Washington Redskins (8) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (6), November 14, 1937 Chicago Bears (7) vs. Cleveland Browns (7), November 24, 1940 St. Louis Cardinals (8) vs. New York Giants (6), September 17, 1961 Pop Culture Trivia - Four movies have won 10 or more Oscars. 1. Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003) - 11 2. Ben-Hur (1959) - 11 3. Titanic (1997) - 11 4. West Side Story (1961) - 10

CMC one of the few – Christian McCaffrey scored his 50th rushing touchdown this week. He also has 27 career receiving touchdowns, making him one of only three players ever to do that. The others? Hall of Famers Marshall Faulk and Lenny Moore. Belichick heading for a bad record – The Patriots are now 2-10, the first time they have had double-digit losses since Belichick's first season in New England. If he finishes with three or few wins, he will tie the record for worst season ever by a coach who won Super Bowl, tying Tom Landry, who was 3-13 in 1988, Landry’s last year. Belichick is also three losses away from the all-time record 165, held by Jeff Fisher and Dan Reeves. Commanders get blown out. The Commanders gave up 45 points to the Dolphins, marking the second straight week that they surrendered at least 45 points. Washington has only given up 45 points in consecutive games one other time in franchise history, and that came all the way back in 1954. Football Trivia Answer – Three…they have only had three. Starting in 1969, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had only three coaches, all of whom won Super Bowls. Chuck Noll had four, and Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin each had one. The next team with the fewest head coaches is Seattle, with 7…but they only started in 1976. For the home team, the Bengals have had ten coaches since 1969, and tied for the most are the Arizona Cardinals and New York Jets with 17, with the Bills close behind with 15. Pop Culture Trivia – There have been 33 official Marvel movies, with around 11 more in development or shooting right now! This does not count five Spider-Man movies, two Hulk and Fantastic Four movies, or the various other films made by other studios, or the number would be much higher!

Hurts has 11 rushing touchdowns on the season, marking his third consecutive campaign with double-digit rushing touchdowns. No other quarterback in NFL history has had 10-plus rushing touchdowns in even two consecutive seasons. T.J. Watt is in a league of his own with multi-sack games - In a win that will be remembered as the day the Steelers finally totaled 400 yards of offense, Watt recorded two-plus sacks for the 20th time in his career (the most in the NFL since 2017). Watt has now played in 98 career games and has 91.0 sacks to his name. Only one other player (since sacks started being recorded in 1982) has brought down opposing quarterbacks at least 90 times within his first 100 games -- Hall of Famer Reggie White, who had 105.0 career sacks in his first 100 games. Bland sets INT record - During Thanksgiving, Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland set an NFL record with his fifth interception return for a touchdown. He surpassed Eric Allen, Ken Houston, and Jim Kearney, who had four interception returns for a touchdown in a season. Football Trivia - if you are a Bears fan, avert your eyes. The Bears are the only team that has never had a 4,000-yard passer. The closest the Bears have come was in 1995(!) when Erik Kramer threw for 3,838 yards with 29 TDs, leading the Bears to a 9-7 record. It was the only year of his career where he played a full season. Kramer has had a problematic post-playing career, suffering from depression and the suicide of a son, as well as attempting suicide himself. He is now an advocate for mental health and released a book about his life this month that has been very well-reviewed. Pop-Culture Trivia - It’s been 23 years since Hallmark released its first original Christmas movie: “The Christmas Secret,” starring Beau Bridges and Richard Thomas, about a professor who sets out to prove that reindeer can fly and then meets Santa. This year, there are 42 Christmas movies on the channel, which joins 21 more on the rival Great American Family. There are rumors that a second plot for the films have been developed, but that is unconfirmed at this time.

If they do end with a losing season, it will be Boise State's sixth losing season since 1947, when it was a junior college and first since 1997. Good luck “Chase” ing him - Ja’Marr Chase got behind the Texans defense on second-and-12 at the end of the third quarter, making a 64-yard house call to get the Bengals their first touchdown since the opening drive of the game. That score was the seventh of Chase's career to go for at least 60 yards. Chase has the second-most receiving touchdowns of 60-plus yards by a player age 23 or younger, trailing only fellow LSU prodigy Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham had eight receiving touchdowns of at least 60 yards before he turned 24 years old. T.J. Watt surpasses his brother - T.J. Watt notched his 88th career sack in his 96th career appearance, surpassing J.J. Watt for the second-most sacks in a player's first 100 career games (since individual sacks were first officially tracked in 1982). The only player with more sacks than either of the Watt Bros. in his first 100 career games was the Minister of Defense himself, Reggie White (105.0). NFL Trivia - Hall of Famer Jim Brown won not only MVP but also Rookie of the Year and All-Pro his first year out of Syracuse. Leading the league in rushing, he beat YA Tittle of SF and Johnny Unites (Colts) for the AP MVP. That year, 2 MVP awards were given, and Tittle won the UPI award. Neither Brown nor Tittle won the title, with the Detroit Lions winning their last (so far) NFL title that year. Brown would go on to win two more MVP trophies in a nine-year career that saw him finish as the all-time leading rusher in NFL history. Brown never missed a game during his career. He is still 11th all-time in rushing, with 12, 312. That number was so dominant that when he retired, the next-highest career rushing total was nearly 3000 yards behind him, and he is also known for being maybe the best Lacrosse player in history and an actor with movies like the “Dirty Dozen.” Pop-Culture Trivia Answer - So there are a few answers…in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln officially made Thanksgiving a national holiday. This was primarily due to the efforts of Sarah Josepha Hale, who wrote dozens of letters to the President and other officials asking for an official holiday. Hale was also famous as an author, her most famous work being “Mary Had a Little Lamb”! But, despite the proclamation, it wasn't really celebrated until the 1870s due to the Civil War and its aftermath, and then generally on the 30th of November until FDR came along. Franklin D Roosevelt signed a presidential proclamation on Oct 31, 1939, that set the date to the last Thursday in November, primarily to provide an extra seven days of Christmas shopping! The new date was controversial; many states observed the 30th and the new date in protest. This ended when FDR got Congress to pass a joint resolution to force the new date starting in 1942. “Black Friday” was first used in 1951 or 52 when the journal Factory Management and Maintenance coined the term, initially for workers calling in sick to get a four-day weekend! Using the term for shopping started in the 70s but didn't take off as a cultural touch-point until the mid to late 80s!

That is the first time that has happened since 1998, when the Raiders and Charges combined for 13 points and 27 punts as Ryan Leaf (who threw four (4) ints) and Donald Hollas (who??) quarterbacked one of the worst offensive games in history. The Raiders won on a last-minute touchdown drive, 7-6. Hollas, a Bengals draft pick, played four years in the NFL and started six games for the Raiders in 1998…after not playing in the NFL since 1994! The Raiders somehow finished 8-8 for the season and the Chargers 5-11. Scorigami! – The Rams Cowboys score of 43-20 is the first time in NFL history that score happened. It is the 1079th unique score in NFL history. Will the Thrill. - With four TD passes against the Falcons, Will Levis became the third player in NFL history to throw four touchdowns in his NFL debut, joining Fran Tarkenton and Marcus Mariota. McCaffery Streaks On - Including the 2022 playoffs, McCaffrey has now scored a touchdown in 17 consecutive games -- tied with Hall of Famer Lenny Moore (1963-64) for the longest streak in NFL history. In one of Moore's games during that streak, he scored an offensive fumble recovery touchdown but not a scrimmage touchdown (rushing or receiving). That means McCaffrey's 17-game streak with a scrimmage touchdown is the longest in NFL history. Football Trivia Answer – Brett Favre, with 32, has the all-time record, so Stafford could still catch him! Favre also has a career record with 336 interceptions thrown! That is over 68 over the second-place QB (John Hadl). The current still-playing leader is Stafford as well, with 178. Pop Culture Trivia Answer – "It" is the all-time leader, with over 700 million at the box office. The top six: 1. It (2017) 701 million 2. The Sixth Sense (1999) 672 million 3. I am Legend (2007) 585 million 4. World War Z (2013) 540 million 5. It Chapter Two (2019) 473 million 6. The Exorcist (1973) 441 million

The Cheetah - Tyreek Hill failed to reach 100 receiving yards, topping out with a team-leading 88. But that boosted his season total to 902, making Hill the only player in the Super Bowl era with at least 900 receiving yards through his team's first seven games of the season. Hill trails only Oilers legend Charley Hennigan (1,044 in the first seven games of 1961!) for the NFL record. The Taylor Effect - In the four games Taylor Swift has been in attendance, Travis Kelce is averaging 108 receiving yards per game. In the games she was not, he's averaging 46.5. Football Trivia Answer – the legendary Reggie White also has 82 sacks before his 28th birthday. After being an All-American for Tennessee (Go Big Orange), He played for the Eagles, Packers, and Panthers. “The Minister of Defense” finished his time in the NFL with 198 sacks, good for 2nd all-time behind Bruce Smith. Garrett has some time to break this record, though, and his 29th birthday isn’t until December 29th! Pop Culture Trivia Answer– There have been a staggering 10 Friday the 13th movies since the initial movie was released in 1980. That included the crossover with Nightmare on Elm Street. The iconic hockey mask wasn’t introduced to the series until the third movie, “Friday the 13th Part III in 3D,” in 1982.

They are also the only team averaging over 300 yards passing (316.8) and 150 yards rushing (181.8) a game as well. No team has done that since 1941, when the Bears led a total of NINE categories to win the NFL Championship. Apocalypse Alert: Could the Best Team in the NFL be the Lions??? The Lions are 5-1 for the first time since 2011, and this win was the Lions' fourth straight by more than 14 points for the first time since 1969. They have held every opponent to under 100 rushing yards through the first six games of a season, which hasn’t happened since...1932! Pop Culture Trivia Answer – Beyoncé has the most Grammys with 32 trophies to her name. Taylor needs to win 20 more to pass her! Second, Sir Georg Solti, an orchestral and operatic conductor, has 31 Grammy wins. The Hungarian-born Solti led an amazing life. He fled his native Hungary in the Second World War (he was Jewish) and taught piano in Switzerland, where he wasn’t allowed to conduct (again Jewish). He had to win the Geneva International Piano Competition even to be allowed to teach piano to survive! After the war, with most of the major German conductors having been members of the Nazi party, he got the job of the conductor of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. This started his journey of recording and winning Grammys. Solti's most celebrated recording was Wagner's The Ring, made in Vienna. It has twice been voted the greatest recording ever made, the first poll being among readers of Gramophone magazine in 1999, and the second of professional music critics in 2011, for the BBC's Music Magazine. He passed in 1997 at 85, and several major classic music awards are named for him. Oh, where are the Beatles on this list, you ask??? Only 7 Grammys and they were beaten out of Grammys by the likes of The Girl from Ipanema (I Want to Hold Your Hand), A Taste of Honey (Yesterday), and Blood, Sweat & Tears (Abby Road), with the final indignity of Hey Jude losing Song of the Year to something called Little Green Apples. So, the Grammy’s can be weird…

The Dolphins, with the wonderful nickname "The Greatest Show on Surf," are crazy on offense. So far, they have: The most total yards (2,568) in any team's first five games in NFL history (passed the 2000 Rams, who had 2,527) The most yards per play (8.3) in any team's first five games since 2000 Rams, The most points (181) in any team's first five games since the 2015 Patriots and 2015 Cardinals, the 2000 Rams have that record still with an amazing 217 points! For reference, the other teams they have passed finished as follows 2000 Rams - Finished 10-6 and lost in the Wild Card. 2015 Pats - Lost to the eventual Super Bowl champs Denver Broncos in the Conference championship game. 2015 Cardinals - Lost to the Cam Newton-led Panthers in the Conference Championship game.

To show how the game has changed since 1990, only one player on either list who played before that year, Charlie Hannigan, caught 82 balls for a staggering 1746 yards receiving (good for 8th place still), an average of 21.3 yards a catch. Hannigan played for LSU before joining the Houston Oilers (now the Titans) in 1960. He played seven years before retiring, teaching English and reading in the Louisiana prison system before passing away at age 82.

Gay's five-field-goal day included kicks from 31, 53, 53, 53 and 54. Browns defense is off to a historical start. - The Browns have only surrendered 491 yards through three games, which is the fewest amount of yards that any team has surrendered through three games since 1999 when the Buccaneers held their first three opponents to 430 total yards. Trivia Answer – The all-time record for points by a team in an NFL game is the 1940 Chicago Bears, who, in the NFL Championship game, annihilated Washington 73-0. The Bears had lost to Washington in the regular season 7-3 three weeks earlier. Afterward, Washington’s owner, George Preston Marshall, said the Bears were quitters and crybabies…which may have fired the Bears up a bit. For the Bonus College Record - The college record is Georgia Tech, who went Thanos on Cumberland College, beating them (and I am not making this up) 222-0 in 1916. The story of the game is as crazy as the score... Cumberland, who had disbanded their team the year before, was stuck in a contract to play Georgia Tech and tried to cancel the game. But, John Heisman, Georgia Tech’s coach, was furious that year before the Cumberland’s baseball team had beaten his (he was the baseball, basketball, and football coach at Tech) the year before 22-0, using what he thought were professional players, and wanted revenge. He threatened legal action (he was also a lawyer and actor!) and even offered to pay Cumberland to come…all to get his revenge. Forced to play, Cumberland asked a student, George Allen (who would eventually be President Truman's confidant in the White House and Democratic National Committee Chair), to put together a team and save the school the $3000 (over 100K today) it would have to pay. He recruited his fraternity members and fellow law students and went to Atlanta to place the eventual league champions and national runners-up. To say it went poorly was an understatement. Sportswriter Grantland Rice wrote, "Cumberland's greatest individual play of the game occurred when fullback Allen circled right end for a 6-yard loss." Cumberland never even got a first down. Georgia Tech scored 32 touchdowns and scored on every possession. At halftime, up 126-0, Heisman reportedly told his players, "You're doing all right, team, we're ahead. But you just can't tell what those Cumberland players have up their sleeves. They may spring a surprise. Be alert, men! Hit 'em clean, but hit 'em hard!" Ah, sportsmanship... Heisman eventually called off the dogs, agreeing to reduce the time of the game by 6 minutes, but he and Georgia Tech had their revenge and a record that will never be broken. Cumberland eventually reformed their football team and plays today in Division III, where they are still known as a baseball power. As for Heisman, he would win the national championship the next year, and when he died in 1936, the New York Athletic Club named a certain trophy after him…

Steak, steak and more steak!!!!
Intro/Outro music by Scott Holmes - Upbeat Party Segment drops by Tri-Tachyon Leave your questions at: https://anchor.fm/thecommishreport/message Leave your smack talk at: [email protected] So you're telling me there's a chance? In the 94 comedy classic Dumb and Dumber when Mary tells Lloyd (played as only he can by Jim Carey) that he has a one-in-a-million chance to get a girl like her he responds as only he can - "So you're telling me there's a chance!" For teams who started worried about a 0-2 start, there is a chance that they will make the playoff but it is small. Since the playoff era began in 1970 400 teams started 0-2 and 38 of them made the playoffs, a 9.5% rate while not great it is better than Lloyds odds with Mary. The most recent team to start 0-2 and make the playoffs were the 2018 Houston Texans, who began 0-3 and then made the wild-card game, losing to the Colts, 21-7. While I don't think it is likely for Cincy to finish this bad, the average finish for the teams starting 0-2 is around 6-10 (remember, most of this happened during the 14/16 game a year schedules), and historically Cincinnati follows that pattern averaging right on that number when they start 0-2. Cincy also has never made the playoffs after a 0-2 start. They have started 0-2 19 times, tied for second most with the Giants after the Saints and Colts with 21 times. 8-8 is the best season after an 0-2 start for Cincinnati, and they have done that three times (03,96,84), never making the playoffs. But all hope is not lost. Four teams that started 0-2 made the Super Bowl, with the Cowboys being the first to do so in 1993, in the first year of their mid-nineties run, where they started 0-2 and finished 12-4 (best record ever for an 0-2 team, tied with the 2013 Panthers, who lost in the division round) and clobbered the Bills in the Super Bowl (sorry Andy) 30-13. The Patriots were next going to the 96 Super Bowl before losing to future Mean-Machine player-coach Brett Favre and the Packers after a 0-2 start. The Patriots in 2001 lost their starter, Drew Bledsoe, to start 0-2. The following week they started a little-known backup, Tom Brady, who finished 11-3 and had a bit of help in the Tuck Rule game to make the Super Bowl and beat the heavily favored St. Louis Rams in the Super Bowl. Finally, that little-known QB Brady was on the wrong end of this as the Giants started 0-2 before ending the Patriot's perfect season with the helmet catch in 2007. Of course, if you start 2-0 you have like a 63+% chance of making the playoffs, and something like 70%(ish) of Super Bowls teams all time started 2-0. 63% is a long way from 9.5%. But 9.5% is better than nothing, so hope springs eternal for the fans of the Bengals along with Titan, Panthers, Falcons, and Raiders fans. Like Lloyd, they have a chance, small as it may be. Note also like Lloyd's chances this may not actually apply to the Falcons, Panthers, and Raiders, as they all seem genuinely terrible, and thanks to Stathead.com for the data. "Robert" Roger (wow we won, how did that happen) Justus
