The Cross and the Crescent Week One - What do you know about Islam?

You might know that they believe in Allah, that Muhammad is very important to them, and that they pray often. But did you know they are the fastest growing religion on earth? Did you know that nowhere in any of their holy texts do they claim to be a religion of peace? Did you know that millions of Muslims have moved to this country in the past few years and their population is expected to double in the next 20 years? Whether you are aware or not, Islam and its followers are something you will need to interact with in the near future. Are you ready to answer their questions with intelligence and kindness? In this episode you will learn how.

Your Choice - Episode 4 - Effects of maturity

We are at the end of our series and Israel has been through a lot. Almost a decade of war, hard lessons learned, and much obedience practiced. So what have they learned? What character attributes have taken root? In this episode we address a story that shows the culmination of everything Israel has learned under Joshua's leadership. It's a beautiful story of friendship, obedience, and dependance on God. And it answers some important questions for you: What would it look like for you to mature? What marks the life of a healthy believer that has followed God well for years? Tune in to find out!

Your Choice - Hardest question for Christians to answer

William lane Craig and Paul Copan are two brilliant Christian apologists and they have each admitted that the Canaanite massacre is one of the most ethically difficult and challenging stories to explain in the Bible. Did Godreally call for the deaths of thousands of Canaanites? Was it ethnically motivated or religiously motivated? Is God justified in what he did? Tune in to find out the answer!

Your Choice - What it takes to win

In this episode we analyze two battles that Joshua engages in. One he wins, and in the other he is soundly defeated. As Christians we will engage in multiple battles. Battles like controlling your finances, fighting lust, or being a good employee. Other times it's learning how to stay connected to the Lord or learning to trust him when he asks you to do difficult things. The question of this lesson is this: Do you know what it takes to win?

Your Choice - What it takes to be a leader

Throughout all of history, every person has been given a choice. God deeply values you, your agency, and your ability to choose. Will you follow your own will, or God’s will.In this first episode of the new series, we explore what it means to lead yourself well, develop deep convictions, and live with awareness of the times we are living in. True leadership begins with surrender and learning to follow God before leading others. We’ll look at passages about courage, endurance, discernment, and the importance of standing firm in what matters most. Just as you pay attention to the weather, you should also pay attention to the spiritual and cultural times around us.Joshua’s declaration still echoes today: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” The choice is yours.Follow along in Joshua 1 and 1 Chronicles 12:32

Freakishly Generous - Ep. 5 - Generosity and Wisdom

There are many practical things that a believer can do with their money to honor the Lord. One of those is to help the poor and the needy. But how do you help the poor and the needy? What if some of the things you're doing with good intention are actually hurting people. I believe that when people give, their hearts are full of compassion, but are they full of wisdom? In this episode we endeavor to help the believer develop their ideas on poverty alleviation. How do we help the poor and the needy, but also dignify them? How do we alleviate suffering, but not just give handouts? How do we develop someone's financial situation and their spiritual situation? All these things will be considered and discussed inthis episode of our series Freakishly Generous.

  9. 147

Freakishly Generous Ep. 4 - Who are the poor and how do we help them?

One of the great challenges of learning how to give to the poor is giving with great generosity and great wisdom. To give generously without being wise leads to the detriment of the poor and the pride of thegiver. We have a responsibility when we give to remember the mission of God, which is the salvation of people, not simply the alleviation of material poverty. In this episode we will discuss how poverty is actually a relational problem, not an economic problem. And if we try to solve a relational problem with money, we will end up stripping people of dignity and making the problem worse. If the problem is relational then the solution mustbe relational. We pray that this episode blesses you powerfully and leads to a change in the way that we handle poverty around the world.

  10. 146

    Freakishly Generous - Practical Giving

We've seen that God wants generosity to motivate us to give and that money has dark sides we must protect ourselves from, but what do we actually give towards? The church? The poor? Missionaries? Our pastors? Homeless shelters? What counts as tithing? Do I have to tithe? All of those questions and many more will be answered in week three of Freakishly Generous!

  11. 145

Freakishly Generous - Ep. 2 - Dangers of money

John Piper once said, "One thing I wish churches would preach on more is the dangers of money." So that's exactly what we're going to do. Money is like plutonium. Handled correctly it can power many lives and expand God's kingdom. Handled incorrectly it can destroy lives. As a believer in Jesus you must learn to handle this dangerous element and use it to bless as many as possible. To teach you this, God instructs us in how to find contentment and keep money from breeding evil in us. Thanks for joining us. God bless!

  12. 144

    Freakishly Generous - Ep. 1

What if everything you own isn’t actually yours?Welcome to our new series! When you look at the broader themes of the New Testament, the #1 subject Jesus talks about is the Kingdom of God. The #2 most common subject He teaches about is money and possessions.God created it all, and it was all created for Him. That means He owns everything. Everything you have is either a gift from Him or something He has trusted to you to manage. So what does it look like to live like a steward instead of an owner? Explore what Jesus teaches about management.

How to Run with Horses - Final Episode

It's hard to believe but this is the last episode of How To Run With Horses. This series has been really special to me as a pastor and encouraged me to develop grit in my soul to last through the difficulties God has called me to. Hopefully it's done the same for you. We've covered the discipline of Israel in chapters 1-29, we've covered the discipline of neighboring nations in 34 through the end of Jeremiah, but there is one more section. Chapters 30-33. The tone completely changes from doom and discipline to hope and restoration. In these four chapters God lays out his plan for Israel, both in the near future and in the distant future. You have a front row seat to the prophetic working of God as he establishes and protects Israel in 2026. What is going to happen with this tiny little nation? Tune in the find out!

  14. 142

How to Run With Horses Ep. 7 - A global mindset

When God originally called Jeremiah in chapter 1 he told him that “You will be my prophet to the nations.” We have discussed God's plan for Israel but what about everyone else?In our current modern age, we are more aware than ever before what is occurring in nations around the world. And this global awareness can have many positive benefits such as our ability to respond to needs around the world, but it has one major downside. We are now aware of the suffering of 8 billion people. That level of pain can cripple the mind of any believer unless you are aware of God's plan and heart for the nations. When you see evil rulers around the world you need to know deep in your heart what God thinks about evil otherwise it will overwhelm you. In this episode we discuss how God deals with rebellious nations and what his plan is for everyone.

  15. 141

How to Run with Horses Ep. 6 - How Does God Answer Raw and Honest Prayers?

Let’s move beyond Christianity 101 and into the raw, honest prayers of a prophet who didn’t hold back. The book of Jeremiah contains six recorded prayers, and through each one, we see something deeply personal: how to pray when life is hard and how God responds.Sometimes God answers with protection. Sometimes with correction. And sometimes, with silence. But silence isn’t absence. God doesn’t need to defend Himself and He has never wronged His people. When He seems quiet, our calling remains the same: preach on, stay faithful, and continue running the race set before us.This episode will help you understand what faithful prayer really looks like, not polished or perfect, but honest, persistent, and rooted in trust.

  16. 140

How to Run with Horses Ep. 5 - Are You Listening?

How does God respond to repeated disobedience? In this episode, we look through Jeremiah 1–25, listening closely to two voices, the person speaking and the people he’s addressing. What message keeps rising to the surface? How does God respond when His warnings are ignored? And what does that mean for us today? God gives a sobering and deeply personal answer in Jeremiah 9.

  17. 139

How to Run with Horses Ep. 4 - What are You Thirsty For?

In the Christian life there's probably nothing more disheartening than repetitive sin. Like the person that has followed Jesus for years but still struggles with porn addiction, or the Christian that struggles with an unhealthy attachment to food, or the person that continually goes to money as a source of peace and strength. In this episode we discuss God's analysis of Israel’s repetitive sin and we learn what to do to break those habits and unhealthy cycles.

  18. 138

How to Run with Horses Ep. 3 - How to Become a Prodigal

One of the scariest verses in scripture for me is 1 Corinthians 10:12, it says "therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall." This warning comes to those of us that have been following the Lord for a while because one of the things that can occur for a Christian that's been following God for some time is that they can get overconfident in their own righteous behavior. We all must realize that none of us are invulnerable to sin and its temptations. This week in the series How To Run With Horses, we discuss how Israel went from a God honoring nation to a disobedient nation and what we can do to make sure we don't make the same mistake.

  19. 137

    How do I endure evil?

Obviously, Christmas is a time of joy and family and generosity but something that cannot be taken out of the story is the amount of violence and evil. I understand why this is often overlooked because you don't want to tarnish or minimize the amount of joy that we can experience in this time as we celebrate the birth of our savior. But our world is not clean now, nor was it in the time of Jesus and we should never attempt to fully sanitize it. Jesus comes on to the scene during a time of intense violence and confusion. I'm not trying to end the advent season on an overly sad note, but I need you to understand that the conditions that existed during the time of Jesus are remarkably similar to the conditions that our world is experiencing right now. Violence and chaos and confusion do not forbid a movement of God. In fact I would argue it allows God to gain more glory when he moves in difficult circumstances. So for our last advent week, let's talk about Herod.

  20. 136

    Fight Discouragement with Mary’s Song

Sometimes on meaningful dates and seasons, the enemy works overtime to pull us into discouragement, anything to keep us from being renewed and inspired about what God is building.Mary’s prayer reminds us to push back, to stand firm, and to fight against depression and spiritual discouragement with the truth of God’s faithfulness. The goal this advent isn’t to learn something new, it’s to be re-inspired by the way God moved through the life of a teenage girl who said yes.Luke 1:46-56

  21. 135

What are You Waiting For and How are You Waiting?

If you have no dreams or vision in life, you need to listen to this. God has designed you for grand adventure to expand His kingdom.

  22. 134

Find Your Purpose from Jeremiah’s Calling

Let's take a look at God’s calling to Jeremiah and how we can find God’s calling for our own lives through his. Sometimes, the grit that is needed out of you, isn't even for you, it’s for someone coming after you. Just like Daniel watched Jeremiah, the strength you grow now might be shaping someone else’s faith down the road.We also break down the three areas where God calls us: relationships, vocation, and education, and talk honestly about how, because we’re human and we get scared, we sometimes reject the calling God has on our lives.*The beginning of this episode has audio technical difficulties, but the audio quality is restored after the 3 minute mark.

  23. 133

    How to Run With Horses

You know what I think? I think we are bored. I think we’re numb. I think much of modern Christianity has lost touch with the power of our God. We want to explain him, not know him. We want his blessing, but not his call to obedience. We want unending success, without knowing the hard reality of the suffering He calls us to.Enter Jeremiah. The book of Jeremiah gives a glimpse into God's heart for stubborn, bored, and numb people. Jeremiah stands firm in a culture that has abandoned God and shuns his prophets. At one point the evil culture overwhelmed Jeremiah and he cried out to God asking for help. God replies, (12:5) “If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses?"God is calling you to supernatural endurance and faith. To stand when everyone else quits. Through this series we will let Jeremiah train us to run this race with endurance. Are you ready to run with horses?

    Deep End - Final Week

We have now finished Romans. Heck yeah. But I wanted to trace back the most important ideas from the text so you have a full understanding of the book. Remember, this letter was designed to be read aloud to the church so they could receive all of the ideas in context. We hope you enjoy!

Romans Study Ep. 14 - Why submit to authority?

In our politically charged environment this episode hits with unusual intensity. The bible demands that we submit to all governmental authorities and it makes no distinction on whether the government is corrupt or not. How can you serve the Lord and honor the government at the same time? Tune in to find out!

How do you discover God's will for you? pt. 2

Last week endeavored to discover God's will for our lives and discovered that two things are necessary for that to happen. One, we must be a part of and serving a local church. God made us for each other and gifted us for that purpose. The second thing that we need to discover God's will is a commitment to love other people. So Paul goes on a love-rant and lists multiple different ways he wants us to behave with other people. If you learn to do what he suggests you will be prepared to receive God's will for your life.

  31. 125

How do you discover God's will for you?

Romans Study Episode 12 - Today we're going to talk about proper worship. Because proper worship is going to lead you to your heart's desire which is to know and live in the personal will of God for your life. So here's what's at stake- if you and I can learn to honor what the Lord has plainly said, then He will reveal to us that which is mysterious.

  32. 124

Are the Jews God's Chosen People?

Romans Study Episode 11 - There has been debate in the church for two thousand years to figure out who the real chosen people of God are. Is it the Jews or Christians? Did the church fulfill the covenant promises of God in the Old Testament or not? While those are good questions, there is one more question that helps make sense of this whole debacle. What lens are you asking the question through? In this episode we walk through God's plan for Israel and learn how to address one of the longest standing fights in church history.

  33. 123

    Sovereignty of God (Romans)

A Study in Romans (Deep End) Episode Ten - God sovereignty is arguably one of the hardest things about him for us to accept. Why is this the case? Because I am limited by time and limited by my mind. Meaning I die and I don't know everything. God doesn't struggle with either of those. He is eternal and knows everything. Because of that it allows him to judge the life of a human being before that human being is even born. The examples we have of this are when he judges Jacob and Esau before they're born. Or when he determines that pharaoh needs to die before hehas lived a full human life. The way that the Christian can begin to understand this incredible characteristic of God is by asking really healthy questions.1. What is God doing in the lives of other people to point me to himself?2.  What do I do with the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus?

  34. 122

    God's plan for Israel

Over the 2000 year history of the church we have seen some wild ideas come from the church. One of those ideas is called "Replacement Theology." It's the idea that the church has replaced Israel as the covenant people of God. Is this idea true? Does scripture support it? Does it actually matter for your life today? Today we jump back into Romans to figure out, what does God think about Israel and what are his plans for her? Tune and check it out!

  35. 121

Romans Study Ep. 8 - The Battle Within: Flesh vs. Spirit

If you’ve ever read Scripture and walked away feeling guilty or like you’re failing, this episode is for you! Pastor Tyler walks through Romans 8, a chapter full of hope and freedom. It shows us what life in the Spirit really means—a life free from condemnation. We’ll talk about the battle between our desires that pull us away from God and the Spirit who is changing our hearts to love Him.This isn’t about trying harder or earning God’s favor. It’s about letting the Spirit lead. We’ll see how the Spirit helps us say no to sin (Galatians 5:19–21), reminds us who we really are in Christ, and even helps us pray when we don’t know what to say.

  36. 120

Romans Study Ep. 7 - The War You Didn't Know Was Happening

Have you ever wondered why reading scripture, going to church, and being in relationships is so hard? Could it be because those things expose a part of us that we don't want to see? In Romans 7 Paul exposes a war that occurs in all of us every day and it explains so much. It explains why it's hard to go to church sometimes. It explains why we don't read our bibles. It explains those moments when we sin and we surprise even ourselves. Our sin is at war with our redeemed spirit. Tune in to find out how to fight this battle and how to win.

  37. 119

Romans Study Ep. 6: What Do I Do With Sin?

If you believe you need to be sinless to be a Christian, you are going to be miserable. Listen to this episode where Pastor Tyler unpacks Romans 6 and teaches us how to view sin and seek restoration. Every human is living in one of two kingdoms, the kingdom of life and light, or the kingdom of death and darkness. Some are ruled by sin. Expect both challenge and hope as this message invites you into deeper growth and transformation.

  38. 118

Romans Study Ep. 4 - Real Peace

We’re continuing in Romans 5 as Pastor Tyler unpacks the themes of redemption and real peace with God.Christianity offers something radically different—real peace doesn’t come from effort or achievement, but from a restored relationship with God through Jesus. The work is already finished, completed by Jesus on the cross. Redemption comes through surrender, not striving. So here’s the question: Are Christians the only ones who got it wrong… or the only ones who got it right? This week’s challenge is simple: pick a Bible plan and commit to reading it each day, and come to at least one of our Holy Week prayer times at church. Let’s prepare our hearts for Easter together.

  39. 117

Romans Study Ep. 3 - What actually saves me?

A Study in Romans Episode Three: What actually saves me?In an effort to describe the complex nature of salvation the following metaphor has been used. Salvation is like a cure to a disease and our sin is the disease that needs curing. At the risk of oversimplifying things, the first two chapters have been describing the disease of humanity. Our wickedness and immoral behavior is something that God needs to process with us and help us deal with. In today's episode we will discuss the cure. How do we humans actually come into right relationship with God?You would think that this question might be easy to answer, but it's not. In fact humans hate the answer. Christianity is the only religion out of every other religion on earth that holds to this simple truth: God has done all the work and all we have to do is trust him. So, dive in with us as we discuss what actually saves people, works or faith.Recorded April 6, 2025

Romans Study Ep. 2 - Judgement, Repentance, and Conscience

The Deep End - A Study in Romans Episode Two: Judgement, Repentance, and Conscience How do you genuinely change someone's mind? Maybe we could argue someone into submission. What if we yelled at them? What if we gave them the silent treatment until they realized they were wrong? There's a number of different ways that we try to change someone's mind or behavior. But do those theories actually work when applied to other people? Do they work when you apply it to yourself? In today's episode we process how God helps humans analyze themselves and come to repentance which is a changing of the heart. Through this lesson you will learn more about how God helps you change and you will also learn how to give that gift of change to other people. We will also discuss what happens when people don't change. What happens to people that spend their entire lives rejecting God? Thanks for tuning in!Recorded: March 30, 2025

  41. 115

Romans Study Ep. 1 - Wrath and the Wicked

Wrath and the WickedThe bible makes a distinction between easy to consume ideas and difficult or complex ideas. It calls them spiritual milk and spiritual solid food. Some passages of scripture contain milk and then there's Romans. It is a prime cut of steak surrounded by all your favorite fixings. It is Paul's doctoral work on salvation and christian living and it is not easy stuff. We are going to spend the next few months diving deep, hence the name, into this incredible book to develop for ourselves a deep understanding of righteousness and salvation. Topics will include:- What is wickedness- What is required for true salvation- Who are the true Jews and what do we do with Israel- How do I live out my faith- What does it look like to live on mission. In this episode, Paul discusses what real wickedness is and how to spot it. He explains that there are steps to rebellion and we need to be aware of how ignorance of God affects us. He pulls no punches as he describes how God interacts with rebellious people in a form of punishment he calls wrath. Thanks for tuning in to this episode and welcome to The Deep End.

  42. 114

Is Hell a Place of Eternal Suffering or Complete Annihilation?

What happens to those who reject Jesus' free gift of salvation? As Christians, understanding hell is essential to fully explaining our faith. In this episode, Pastor Tyler unpacks two major views—annihilationism and eternal conscious torment—helping us explore what the Bible really says about the fate of the lost.

  43. 113

What Will We Do in Heaven?

  46. 110

What Does Eden Teach us About Eternity?

Pastor Tyler takes a look back at Eden and the perfection at that time before sin corrupted the earth. We can look at how the Bible describes Eden to learn what future perfection will be like. 1 Corinthians 15:58, "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord".  1. God is creative 2. God loves work and so do we 3. God wants deep friendship for us 4. God wants to be with us 5. God loves us

  47. 109

What Will Heaven Actually Be Like?

Eternity: Episode 2 - Have you ever been anxious about what eternity after death on this earth will be like? In this episode, Pastor Tyler talks about how the enemy has spread lies about heaven and hell that led to misunderstandings about what eternity will be like.  Take some to time to dream about the future and learn 6 things the Bible teaches on Heaven and how it is a physical place where we will be content.  Pastor Tyler also explains why there is only one heaven, not multiple levels of it like some religions believe. Hear about the physical language the Bible uses to describe the space and duties we will have in Heaven.  Listen to grow your faith and share these powerful truths with others!

  48. 108

    How to Go to Hell

Eternity: Episode 2 - What does the Bible really say about hell? In this episode, Philip talks about the meaning behind the three places often translated as "hell"—Sheol, The Abyss, and Gehenna. From the shadowy realm of the dead in the Old Testament to the fiery imagery of final judgment in the New Testament, we explore how these terms reveal the justice, mercy, and sovereignty of God. Join us as we unpack biblical passages, examine their original Hebrew and Greek contexts, and discuss the eternal hope found in Christ.

  49. 107

    Why Study Heaven?

Eternity: Episode 1 Heaven is one of Pastor Tyler’s favorite topics, but in this new series, we’re expanding the conversation to explore the profound concept of eternity. Do you see it as a source of excitement? Or do you feel a sadness when thinking of being separated from loved ones who have rejected God? Why should we study Heaven? Not only does it give us the right perspective amidst a culture drawing bad conclusions, but it also aligns our focus with God’s command in Colossians 3:2: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Let’s learn from truths like Ecclesiastes 3:11, which reminds us that God has “set eternity in the human heart.” We are eternal beings created for a purpose beyond this temporal life. Let’s talk about eternity—and what it means for our faith, hope, and daily lives. Follow along in these passages: Daniel 12 Hebrews 9:27 Matthew 25:31-46

Song of Songs - Week Five - Real Intimacy

There is probably no topic that causes more excitement, pain, and confusion in our culture than sexual intimacy. It is especially difficult for the young adult because God, in his wisdom, put boundaries on sexual expression, but also gave you sexual drive that begins far before we get married. This coupled with the fact that our culture has butchered God's plans for sexual intimacy makes life very painful sometimes. Regardless of your sexual story, God created sex and has a design for it that is good and beautiful. And whether you made bad choices in this area or bad things happened to you, God can redeem any story and bring glory to himself and blessing to you if you follow his design. So tune in for the last episode in the Song of Songs series to see God's plan for real intimacy!
