How to deal with a narcissist
Everyone online says "just go no contact." Cool. Not helpful for everyone. Not everyone can snap their fingers and disappear, especially if you share kids, assets, a home, or a bank account with this person. So before we get to step five, let's talk about steps one through four. We're covering radical acceptance, grey rocking, not engaging, low contact, and finally, no contact. Plus why grey rocking getting worse means it's actually working, and what to have in order before you walk away for good. 🛠 For more resources and ways to work with me follow this link: https://linktr.ee/letsgetyourshifttogether

Enablers: The Motherf*ckers Standing Right Beside The Narcissist Clapping
We're not talking about the narcissist today. We're talking about the people standing right beside them clapping. Enablers are just as toxic as the narcissist because without them, the whole operation falls apart. We're getting into who they are, why most of them absolutely know what they're doing, and why your dad being "just an enabler" is not the pass everyone thinks it is. Plus how to deal with them (spoiler: same playbook as the narcissist). I didn’t ghost you, I was surviving
Yeah, I disappeared. No, I didn’t ghost you on purpose. Between a neurologically damaged dog who bit my face and then my hand, PTSD that kept me housebound, and a year of just trying to function, the podcast wasn’t happening. But I’m back! And something called S.H.I.F.T. is coming mid-late April. Welcome back to The Shiftshow. Link I mentioned in the episode: https://linktr.ee/letsgetyourshifttogether

A conversation about being childless by circumstance or childfree by choice and narcissistic abuse
In this episode I had a great conversation with my good friend Lorenn on her struggle with infertility and how it brought the narcissists out. We had a great chat about this plus the childfree angle and how that brings the narcs out too. At just 15 years old, Lorenn was diagnosed with MRKH syndrome: a rare, congenital condition that affects the development of the female reproductive system. Having been a victim of narcissistic abuse in the face of her infertility, Lorenn has since been discussing the connection between these topics and helping to bring them to more public awareness: What do you do when a narcissist rubs their pregnancy news in your face? How do you handle their sudden discard once the baby arrives? What do you do when the narcissist shames you for having a medical condition like this? It did NOT take you “too long” to realize it was narcissistic abuse!
It’s normal to feel like it’s “too late” or you’re “too old” to have learned about narc abuse because of all the lost opportunities and time. The truth is, this is repressed grief and as long as you’re a living breathing human, regardless of how old you are, it’s NOT TOO LATE! I’ve even heard people who are 20/21 years old saying it’s too late - it’s not! In this episode I explain why it’s absolutely not too late for you. Interested in learning more about my community? Why do narcissists view boundaries as a “punishment”?
In todays episode I talk about why a narcissist might tell you you’re punishing them when you set a boundary with them. There’s nothing more frustrating than mustering up all the courage to set the boundary, carefully considering the other persons feelings, and finally going ahead and setting the boundary after overthinking it for weeks and weeks only to be accused of being some type of ogre. It’s yet another classic manipulation tactic narcissists love to use to try and control their target with guilt! Listen to the episode to learn more. What does it REALLY mean when things seem to be going well with the narcissist in your life?
This is the cycle that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend! 🙃 Don’t be fooled by the love bombing! The narcissist has conditioned you to accept their behaviour as “normal” so the cycle can continue on as long as possible. In this episode, I talk about what's really going on when things are going well with the narcissist in your life. It's really just another manipulation tactic to keep the cycle of abuse alive and well. You can’t change the narcissist, the only thing you can control is how you react. No reaction is the goal, but it’s hard when your emotions are bamboozled all over the place and the narcissist is trying to provoke you. It’s important to see through the manipulation tactics, take your emotions out of it, and make the logical choice rather than the emotional choice you’re being manipulated with. Doing the inner work in baby steps is how you master this. One day at a time. Journaling is a great and free way to start doing the work! 🚨📣But if you’re looking for a supportive community with resources, guidance from a trauma informed coach with decades of lived experience who did the work, made it to the other side, and has worked with hundreds of survivors (hint: that’s me!!😆), courses, at an affordable price point, I invite you to join my new community membership! Interview with Laura DiBenedetto author of The Six Habits
TEDx Speaker, #1 Bestselling author of The Six Habits and Life Mastery Coach, Laura DiBenedetto teaches how to create the life of our dreams without sacrificing what we love. Laura is the founder and CEO of the award-winning marketing company, Vision Advertising, located in the greater Boston area. Laura created, built and ran the growth-oriented enterprise for 19 years with tremendous success, before retiring from active involvement in 2018 at age 37, passing the reins to her successor. Over the years, Laura personally sold several million dollars in ongoing contracts, was featured on Fox News and other Boston programming several times, was publicly recognized for business accomplishments, and was named a 40 Under Forty winner at only age 23. Having started her first business at 19, Laura began to search for her next big project in 2012, finally finding it right on the cusp of retirement. Interview with my friend Nat on her divorce from a narcissist
This episode is an interview I did with my good friend Nat! She shares her story about being married to a narcissist for 2 years. She had no idea her ex husband was a narc until they were in the process of divorcing. The signs were there, which she talks about, but when you are in the bubble of the relationshit the signs can be very easily missed. She also offers hope to anyone who is currently struggling with a breakup or divorce (or upcoming breakup or divorce) from a narcissist that it is absolutely possible to find love with a normal person who is not a narcissist once you take some time to yourself and do some healing. You are not doomed to repeat the pattern forever!

Interview with Beatrice Kamau - Inner Child Healing Coach
I had a great podcast interview with Beatrice Kamau! We discussed healing from narcissistic abuse, self love, and embodying what it means to heal. Beatrice Kamau is what she likes to call a Registered Dietitian by trade and an inner child healing coach by vocation- she chose one, and the other chose her. She spent most of her life living passively, letting life happen to her as opposed to letting life happen through and for her. Beatrice lived at the mercy of what other people thought about her, she was codependent on nearly everyone that walked into my life, she had no self esteem, and she was terrified of making mistakes. It was only during a very low point she experienced during grad school where she asked herself, “Where does your need for perfectionism come from?”. You see, this was a critical moment for her. For the first time in her life, she asked herself about the origins of my behaviour instead of blaming herself for them. That was the beginning of her self awareness, her transformation, her healing from inner child wounds & codependency, and her deep and unconditional love for herself. From that moment on, Beatrice realized the woman she was always searching for, the woman she had always wished to become was always within. She just had to dig in and find her- and free her. Now, she wants to help you do the same. Beatrice's deepest hope for you is that you find the truth of who you are and that you find restoration and deep healing from your inner child wounds. Interview with Vera Wilhelmsen - Healing From Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
I had a great interview with Vera Wilhelmsen about her healing journey from chronic fatigue syndrome. Vera Wilhelmsen is a Norwegian girlwoman (her words) with an incredible story. In her 20's she became bed bound for 3 years with chronic fatigue syndrome and was too sick to even sit in a wheelchair or leave the house. After giving up on the healthcare system she fought her way out of it completely on her own and is today fully recovered, works, exercises and shakes her butt at every opportunity. After her physical recovery she quickly realized that the cause of her illness and suffering was narcissistic abuse. Her healing journey from childhood abuse and medical neglect is still ongoing but she is now sharing her story and her joy on YouTube. In one year she has gone from (her words) a grey, people-pleasing, moldable blob to a color explosion! https://www.verawilhelmsen.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0cyHUj7rY2ER96B-O0FijQ https://www.instagram.com/verawilhelmsen/

Interview with country singer Emily Daniels
I had an amazing conversation with country singer Emily Daniels about her new song My Last Name. She was inspired to write the song after changing her last name to honour her stepfather after she had cut ties with her biological father. She is extremely talented and the song absolutely hits home for anyone in the adult children of narcissistic parents community. I hope you enjoy our interview, and whether you like country music or not - listen to her song! It's absolutely amazing! The lyrics are so spot on and I am sure so many people will be able to relate to her profound words. Nashville native Emily Daniels has the charm of the girl next door, fashion sense of a personal stylist, and the determination of an entrepreneur. Her witty and honest lyrics are perfectly blended with heartfelt, pitch-perfect, and infectious melodies. Interview with Jen Gileno, author of Finding Happiness Book
Jen Gileno is happily married with two kids, a 1st time author and manager at a toy company in Canada. Her book Finding Happiness is a book about hope, healing from narcissism, bullying and recovering from childhood trauma. She shares personal stories of what it’s like to be raised by a mother who is suspected to have narcissistic personality disorder in the hopes that it helps others. It’s hard sharing stories as we’ve been taught not to talk about these subjects and that everything that we experienced is our fault. Her hope is that by sharing her stories plus her healing tactics, it will inspire others to know that they are not alone and start the path the healing. To thank the Lets Get Your Shift Together followers, she is offering a chance to win a free copy of the book! The 1st 5 people to DM her at @finding_happiness_book will receive a free copy. In case you don’t win, she is offering a coupon code SHIFTTOGETHER until Aug 31 to get the book for $9.95 + shipping. Visit www.findinghappinessbook.ca to order.

Feeling guilty after setting a boundary? Listen to this!
This is the audio from a livestream I did on Instagram recently. In this live I speak about how it’s normal to feel guilty after setting boundaries. It literally means you’re human. It doesn’t mean you made a mistake or you’re wrong or a horrible person or whatever. It literally means you are considering the other persons feelings - so congrats you are not a narcissist or sociopath 😊 In this audio I discuss what to do with that feeling of guilt. Also remember: a healthy person will have no issue with you setting a boundary. A toxic or narcissistic person will. Your clue is the reaction to you setting a boundary. A negative reaction is a sign that this boundary should’ve been set yesterday and that you’re dealing with a selfish, toxic person and you don’t need to keep people like that in your life (even if it’s family)!
