    ADHD and self-medicating with alcohol

Today’s episode is a heavy one. I’m opening up about my ongoing struggle with ADHD and OCD symptoms, and why I’m seriously considering medication to make everyday life more manageable. We also dive into a difficult but important topic: why people with ADHD are more vulnerable to alcohol misuse, and how that coping mechanism can quietly take hold. Most importantly, we talk about healthier ways to cope without alcohol.More resources: TheSoberScoop.comFB support group: @The Scoop TroopIG: @thesoberscoopPersonal IG: @indiagantsTikTok: @thesoberscoopYouTube: @thesoberscoopEmail: [email protected]

No one warns you about THIS in sobriety...

One of the things I struggled with in the beginning of sobriety was the abundance of time. My days basically doubled when I quit drinking, and it was really hard to fill my time when I was SO bored, yet also hyper and restless. What was once a burden on my life is now my favorite part about life!! Having the entire day to be productive and enjoy life has truly been a blessing. I went from "when is this day going to end?" to "I've done so much with my day."In this episode, I'll give you some advice for those tough early days and share how I transitioned from hating the extra time to absolutely loving it :)More resources: TheSoberScoop.comFB support group: @The Scoop TroopIG: @thesoberscoopPersonal IG: @indiagantsTikTok: @thesoberscoopYouTube: @thesoberscoopEmail: [email protected]

    Managing stress in sobriety

In today’s episode, we’re talking about healthier ways to manage stress without turning to alcohol. For so many of us, drinking has been the go-to because it works fast -it takes the edge off and gives quick relief. But that relief is temporary, and it doesn’t actually address what’s underneath the stress. Over time, it can leave us feeling even more anxious, overwhelmed, and stuck in a cycle. So today, I’m sharing simple, practical strategies you can use in those moments when stress hits -tools that help you actually move through what you’re feeling instead of escaping it. Because most of the time, it’s not that we truly want alcohol, we just want relief. And there are healthier ways to get there.More resources: TheSoberScoop.comFB support group: @The Scoop TroopIG: @thesoberscoopPersonal IG: @indiagantsTikTok: @thesoberscoopYouTube: @thesoberscoopEmail: [email protected]

    alcoholics love instant gratification

A lot of times, our "addiction" is not to alcohol itself, but rather the need for dopamine and comfort. We're addicted to saying yes to something that will bring immediate joy/ pleasure. As soon as we can learn to deny ourselves that instant gratification and stay focused on our long term goals, sobriety (and life in general) become easier!Controlling our impulses benefits us in more ways than one: our sobriety, diet, fitness, anger management, cleanliness... and in today's episode we're talking about it ALL. Alcohol is killing us... I was "scared straight" into sobriety

The purpose of this episode is to make you never want to drink again. So many of us reach a point in sobriety where we start wondering if we could drink again. But the real question isn’t whether we could -it’s why would we want to?Cancer. Cirrhosis. Hepatitis… oh my. The truth is, there is nothing good that comes from alcohol consumption. Once I started learning about the real health risks, it scared me straight into sobriety. That knowledge became my rock bottom. I didn’t need another embarrassing night or bad decision -these facts did it for me. And the pain I was experiencing in my liver felt like a warning sign pointing toward a dark future if I didn’t make a change. If this episode helps even one person quit drinking or stay sober, I’ll consider it a win.FB support group: JOIN HEREIG: @thesoberscoopPersonal IG: @indiagantsTikTok: @thesoberscoopYouTube: @thesoberscoopEmail: [email protected] resources: TheSoberScoop.com

    Alcohol is ruining your sleep

Alcohol doesn’t actually give you restful sleep -it sedates you. It can keep you in lighter, fragmented sleep and reduce REM, the stage where your brain restores mood and energy. So if you wake up at 3am or feel groggy every morning, alcohol may be part of the reason. Removing it often helps your sleep regulate again -and better sleep improves almost everything!OSEA's Dream Collection: https://oseamalibu.com/scoopThe Zero Proof (functional drinks): https://thezeroproof.com/SCOOP?q=best-non-alcoholic-adaptogen-nootropic-herbal-functional-drinks

The media's impact on Alcoholism | Is the media glorifying drinking problems?

In this episode, I’m breaking down how deeply the media has shaped our perception of alcohol. From scripted shows to reality TV, we’re constantly shown characters using alcohol to cope, unwind, survive stress, or numb uncomfortable emotions — and it’s all presented as totally normal.I explore how these repeated storylines influence our beliefs about drinking, why they make alcohol feel like an expected part of adulthood, and whether our society would have such a complicated relationship with alcohol if we weren’t shown this behavior everywhere we look. This is a conversation about awareness, culture, and the subtle messages that impact the way we drink ...often without us even realizing it.***Online Support Group: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1Bir1P7Rza/
