Your Nervous System Is Deciding Your Life (Before You Do) | Ep. 175
Welcome back to Xpand Capacity™ I want to start with something that might challenge the way you see yourself… You think you're making decisions. You think you're choosing your next move. You think you're in control. But the truth is… your nervous system has already decided before you even become aware of it. Every reaction, every hesitation, every "gut feeling" you call intuition… a lot of it is actually your nervous system scanning for safety. And it does this in milliseconds. Before your mind can analyze, before you can apply strategy, before logic even enters the room… your body has already asked one question: "Is this safe?" And based on that answer, it will either move you forward… or it will hold you back. This is why so many high performers feel stuck. It's not because they don't know what to do. It's not because they lack strategy. It's because their nervous system doesn't feel safe executing at the level they say they want. I see this all the time with my clients. I've worked with founders who are scaling to multiple seven figures… on paper, everything looks successful. But behind the scenes, they're procrastinating on the very decisions that would take them to the next level. Hiring the right team. Raising their prices. Stepping into visibility. And when we slow it down, it's never about the strategy. It's always something deeper. I had one client who kept delaying a major expansion in her business. Every time we got close to making the decision, she would find a reason to pause. More research. More time. More "perfect conditions." So they unconsciously recreate the very environment they say they want to escape. This is why awareness alone is not enough. You can read all the books. You can listen to all the podcasts. You can have the best strategy in the world. But if your nervous system is dysregulated… it will override your intentions every single time. This is where your real work begins. Not just in what you think… but in what your body believes is safe. Because your capacity to hold success, money, visibility, love… is directly tied to how safe your nervous system feels experiencing it. And this is the shift I want you to start making. Instead of asking: "What's the next strategy?" Start asking: "Does my body feel safe holding what I'm asking for?" Because if the answer is no… you won't sabotage consciously. "There's so much beauty when you physically remove yourself from your current environment, and you step into this new space, whether it's a new country, new relationship. There's so much new opportunities that your body's like, wow, this feels good. Wow, this actually feels amazing. And there's also things that you learn and you see and you come back that you're appreciating what you already have even more. Again, I cannot explain the importance of this sabbatical while we were traveling the world, taking time off from June till August, we were gone for three months and traveling the world, it is to really understand the importance of pausing and slowing down." Why am I trying to be perfect at all time, I'd have all this five different things, which one resonates with me the most is a fear of failure, is it low self worth is a need to for control, external validation, or some childhood trauma or any trauma that you've experienced in the past. So ask yourself, if you find yourself being perfect, trying to be perfect, which is causing the procrastination and the overwhelm, and you're putting your dreams on hold. Because quite awkward, you're trying to be perfect, right? There is a hidden feeling and trauma that you need to work on. You need to explore that. And when you start exploring these feelings and getting to the root cause of what you are experiencing, this is where everything shifts." 132. 2023 Year End Reflection
In our final episode of the year, I am taking time to reflect on all that happened in 2023. My word for this year was "surrender." I wanted to challenge myself to surrender to whatever outcome 2023 had in store for me. This didn't mean that I stopped setting goals and intentions, but rather meant that I surrendered up my worries. Instead of focusing on the negative possible outcome of me chasing my dreams, I focused on what was happening because I was chasing my dreams. The foundation of this podcast episode and the work that I do at STORRIE Institute is centered around the idea of creating your extraordinary life.
