Is it ADHD or Life? - Medication Titration Part 2 (4 weeks of ADHD meds)
Send us Fan MailThis week on Is it ADHD or Life? – A Couple’s Perspective, we’re back with Medication Titration Part 2 — four weeks into ADHD meds, and it’s safe to say it’s been… a lot.Big note (and we mean it): this episode is based on personal experience only, with no medical knowledge whatsoever.Adam takes over this week (because apparently he’s a natural) and we catch up on what the last couple of weeks have actually been like on medication — not just for him, but for Donna and the whole family. We get into the titration process through NHS Right to Choose, the waiting, the limbo, the lack of contact, and that moment you realise you’re going to have to chase it yourself. Adam talks through what 50mg of Elvanse felt like, what happened when tablets ran low, and how differently we both experienced the same situation. We talk crashing, mood swings, irritability, and what Adam’s learned so far.We also chat about family life changes, being more present, and whether Adam’s lost that sense of urgency. Donna drops a truthbomb and Donna admits she prefers “new Adam” - but we’re also making plans so the same mess doesn’t happen again. Then we get onto the brand new “something something”: a top-up of 5mg Amfexa. The changes were great… but sleep took an absolute battering.Donna answers 5 quick-fire questions, we get into emotions, whether she hated old Adam (which definitely leads to in-car arguments), and Adam’s latest hyperfocus: David Ramsay, plus fully fan-boying Darren Connell. We also introduce a new segment with the very catchy title: “what Adam has learned this week about ADHD on Facebook”. Expect showers, handwriting, and the important question of the week:What way do you face in the shower? Let us know in the comments. This week we cover:NHS Right to Choose: delays, limbo, and chasing your own careElvanse at 50mg: effects, distractions, and the crashRunning low on meds and how that impacts mood and family lifeMood swings, irritability, and being more present at homeAmfexa 5mg top-up: benefits vs sleep chaosDonna’s quick-fire Qs (and the relationship truth bombs)Hyperfocus obsessions, Facebook ADHD advice, and shower debatesA surprise Good, Bad & Ugly from Adam (on the spot and real)Watch on YouTube:https://youtu.be/oHzNI9yl9nUListen on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnSMore on our website:https://www.adhdorlife.comJoin the Facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdrelationshipsunfilteredFollow us:Instagram: @adhdorlifepodTikTok: @adhdorlifepodTwitter/X: @adhdorlifepodYouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ADHDorLifepod#ADHD #AdultADHD #ADHDUK #ADHDMedication #Titration #Elvanse #Amfexa #RightToChoose #NHS #Neurodiversity #Neurodivergent #ADHDPodcast #ADHDRelationships #EmotionalRegulation #ExecutiveDysfuTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Is it ADHD or Do I just need a deadline? - ADHD or Life? A couple`s perspective.
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or Do I just need a deadline?New episode out now on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective 🎙️ and this week we’re getting straight into it… deadlines. The kind that magically turn you into a productive genius at the very last second, but also shave years off your life.Is it procrastination, poor planning, laziness… or the ADHD brain doing what it does best? This week Adam shares his personal deadline chaos from the last two weeks (including learning magic tricks in the van and learning new balloon models in a toilet, which feels like the most ADHD sentence ever). We talk about why this happens, the adrenaline/dopamine connection, and whether you always “get away with it”… or whether it just looks like you do from the outside. We get into ADHD motivators, importance vs stimulation, and whether challenge is genuinely motivating or just the only thing that makes your brain switch on. Because it’s not like you’re ignoring the problem… you’re thinking about it constantly.Donna also rage baits the ADHD community (you’re welcome), and we talk pressure, finances, and the chaos of being a poor financial planner. We also look at Donna’s “neuro-normal” brain leaving things till the last minute too — is that laziness, or has she caught ADHD? We talk different levels, Adam being a hypocrite, and whether this argument could lead to divorce (joking… kind of).We need your help settling an argument in this episode, so please comment what you think. Is communication key? Is it just the rush? And what does it do to relationships, the whole family, and even the podcast when planning only happens when the clock is screaming? We talk guilt spirals, irresponsibility vs paralysis, when it’s most likely ADHD, and we share some strategies including made-up deadlines, accountability, body doubling (including an embarrassing body doubling story), and yes… gamification (ick). We also cover Adam’s deadline that nearly ended in a house fire, getting lucky with deadlines, and what happens when deadlines go properly wrong.Five minute moans:- Adam leaving stuff about- Donna opening lettersWe finish with your good, bad and ugly stories (email more to [email protected]) and we talk about the serious side of living life permanently one deadline away from disaster.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/NxmaWdr3D4o Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnS More on our website: https://www.adhdorlife.com Join the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdrelationshipsunfiltered Follow us: Instagram: @adhdorlifepod TikTok: @adhdorlifepod Twitter/X: @adhdorlifepod YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ADHDorLifepod ADHD #Deadlines #Procrastination #ADHDProcrastination #AdultADHD #ADHDUK #ADHDPodcast #Neurodiversity #Neurodivergent #ExecutiveDysfunction #ADHDMotivation #Dopamine #Adrenaline #TaskInitiation #TimeBlindness #ADHDAndAnxiety #GuiltSpiral #Paralysis #BodyDoubling #Accountability #Gamification #ADHDRelationships #NeurodiverseCouples #CouplesPodcast #RealLifeADHD #MentalLoad #FamilyLife #ADHDCopingStrategies #ADHDTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Is it ADHD or Life? – Medication Catchup
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or Life? – Medication CatchupNew episode out now on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective 🎙️ and this one is a proper personal deep dive into Adam’s first two weeks on ADHD medication. Real-life updates, side effects, wins, worries, and all the stuff you don’t always hear people say out loud. This week we start by disagreeing on whether this episode should be called “part deux”, then we catch up on half term, the stresses that come with it, and how medication has changed things (or not). We talk about the new Elvis movie (don’t recommend), and we also went to London to watch a TV recording where medication definitely helped. Is Adam just… chill now? Then there’s Adam’s life-or-death toothache before we get into the main event: medication.Adam has been taking Elvanse for about two and a half weeks and we go through what week one really felt like, including blood pressure being high at first, the new found energy, and the reality that it’s not a magic pill. It’s had such an effect that Adam is now behind on Emmerdale, which is saying something. We talk dry mouth, fear of the crash, and then week two: does your body get used to it, or does Adam just always want more? Was more too much? We cover teeth grinding, heaviness, sleep issues, the best time to take it, lack of appetite, protein, and the weird moment of realising Easter eggs have gone flat.We also get into the bigger questions: does Adam have his spark back, and do Adam and Donna have their spark back? We talk negative feedback, fear, emotions, protein shakes, and whether you should depend on a tablet. Is the old Adam back? And is it normal to love something for ages, overdo it, then never go near it again?Five minute moans:- Donna’s driving- Adam’s total disregard of nappiesWe finish with listeners’ good, bad and ugly stories about medication. Is it ADHD or Life? with Special Guest Lauren O'Carroll
Send us Fan MailNew episode out now on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective 🎙️ and this week we’re joined by ADHD parenting coach Lauren O’Carroll.Lauren supports parents navigating neurodivergent family life, helping families understand ADHD, manage the day-to-day challenges, and build homes that actually work for ADHD brains (not the imaginary “perfect” ones we all think we should have). We start by getting to know Lauren and her journey into ADHD parenting coaching, then we dig into the common parenting challenges that show up when ADHD is in the mix. Lauren shares practical strategies that actually help, especially for parents who have ADHD themselves, and we talk honestly about what to do when you’re overwhelmed in the thick of parenting and everything feels like too much. We also learn a new term, mirror neurons, and yes… there’s a code word situation involving “BANANAS”. Is it ADHD or is Medication the Answer?
Send us Fan MailWe’ve been away for a few weeks… but we’re back 🎙️ and we’re catching up on what we’ve been up to (cars, weddings, and the usual ADHD-filled chaos). But the big news is this: Adam has finally started medication. So we thought it was only right to dedicate this whole episode to what it’s actually been like so far, in real life, in real time, from both sides of the relationship. We chat about what he thought would change, what his internal experience has been like so far, and whether his brain actually feels different day to day. We also look at how medication might be affecting things like out of sight out of mind and selective deafness, plus motivation, starting tasks, switching tasks, and whether anything feels easier yet. Then we get into the relationship side of it all, including whether the dynamic between Adam and Donna feels any different, how Donna’s found it living alongside the changes, and the big question of placebo vs real difference — what’s genuinely shifting and what’s still exactly the same.Five minute moans:Donna is calling out Adam’s dramatic behaviourAdam has TWO moans this week… is that even allowed? And as always, we finish with your good, bad and ugly stories.ADHD #ADHDMedication #ADHDMedicated #AdultADHD #ADHDUK #ADHDPodcast #Neurodiversity #Neurodivergent #ADHDRelationships #CouplesPodcast #Titration #LateDiagnosis #ExecutiveDysfunction #Motivation #Focus #EmotionalRegulation #RSD #OutOfSightOutOfMind #SelectiveDeafness #RelationshipDynamics #MentalHealth #RealLifeADHD #ADHDJourney #ADHDSupport #NeurodiverseCouples #ADHDCopingStrategiesListen on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnSWatch on YouTube:https://youtu.be/w04jCjaobQU More on our website:https://www.adhdorlife.comJoin the Facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdrelationshipsunfilteredTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Is it ADHD or selective deafness?
Send us Fan MailNew episode out now on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective 🎙️ and this week we’re asking a question that causes so many arguments in ADHD relationships…Is it tuning out? Is it inattention? Is it disrespect? Is it nervous system overload? We set up the core question: when someone doesn’t respond, didn’t register what you said, or says “I didn’t hear you”… is that ADHD, or are they choosing not to listen?- What ADHD actually does to listening and why it’s not as simple as “not trying”- Attention is interest-based, not importance-based (and why that’s so hard to explain without sounding rude)- Working memory gaps and the classic “it went in… then vanished”- Hyperfocus, task switching, and why being mid-task can make words feel like background noise- How it feels for the non-ADHD partner when it keeps happeningDonna’s side: the common interpretations like “you don’t care what I say” and why it stings so much- How it can trigger rejection, invisibility, and feeling disrespected, even when that’s not the intention- When it might be ADHD… and when it might be avoidance- Does “I didn’t hear you” ever become a shutdown tool in conflict?- What helps, what makes it worse, and how to talk about it without it turning into a blame gameFive minute moans:Donna is not happy with Adam leaving his mugs in the weirdest placesAdam is not happy with Donna shouting at his drivingAnd as always, we finish with our listeners’ good, bad and ugly stories.Listen on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnShttps://www.adhdorlife.comJoin the Facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdrelationshipsunfilteredADHD #SelectiveDeafness #ADHDRelationships #CouplesPodcast #AdultADHD #ADHDUK #Neurodiversity #Neurodivergent #Inattention #ExecutiveDysfunction #WorkingMemory #Hyperfocus #TaskSwitching #ADHDCommunication #RelationshipCommunication #EmotionalValidation #RejectionSensitivity #RSD #MentalLoad #NervousSystem #Overwhelm #Shutdown #Avoidance #ConflictInRelationships #RealLifeADHD #ADHDPodcast #NeurodiverseCouples #ADHDPartner #RelationshipAdviceTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Is it ADHD or Out of sight out of mind?
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or Out of sight out of mind?New episode out now on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective 🎙️ This week we’re talking about one of the most frustrating (and honestly, relationship-testing) ADHD things going… out of sight, out of mind.Because it’s not just “oops I forgot” — it can look like forgotten texts, not noticing the bin overflowing, forgetting important dates, not reaching out to friends and family, and leaving washing in the washer… for far too long (much to Donna’s dismay!).Listen on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnSWatch on YouTube:https://youtu.be/NfiS7m1fOcoMore on our website:https://www.adhdorlife.comJoin the Facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdrelationshipsunfilteredWhat we cover in this episode:What “out of sight, out of mind” actually means in ADHD (and why it’s not the same as not caring)Forgotten texts and the accidental silence that can make people feel ignoredThe bin that somehow becomes invisible until it’s basically a landmarkForgetting important dates and how that lands emotionally in a relationshipNot reaching out to friends and family, even when you love them loadsThe washing left in the washer (and the chaos that follows)How this shows up in our relationship: communication, emotional connection, household stuff, and the mental loadThe emotional impact on both partners: the ADHD partner feeling shame and pressure, and the other partner feeling lonely, unimportant, or like they have to carry everythingIs it ADHD or is it avoidance? Is it ADHD or am I just a complete control freak?
Send us Fan MailNew episode out now on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective 🎙️ This week Adam’s got his clipboard back (yes, really) and we’re asking the big question: is this ADHD… or is Adam just a full-blown control freak? We kick off with an update on Adam’s titration journey: more paperwork, more waiting, and the classic feeling of being stuck in the world’s slowest queue.Watch on YouTube (this episode):https://youtu.be/FXBZEFQBccsJoin the Facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdrelationshipsunfilteredWhat we cover in this episode:Does everything need to be perfect… or is it really fear of being judged?Work is where Adam’s control issues hit hardest: everything has to be perfect or “people will be talking about him”.Adam cannot cope with the responsibility of people management. He’s even given up jobs because he couldn’t handle the pressure. Is this ADHD, anxiety, perfectionism… or all of the above?Do recovery meetings help with accepting you can’t control what you can’t control?Sudden mood swings, stress spikes, and whether RSD plays a part.Donna asks the important question: why did Adam have zero control over the wedding… but wants control over everything else?Driving chat: is Adam’s driving really that bad? Can you stall a diesel car? Is insisting on driving everywhere a control thing?A couple’s perspective: Adam’s control is fear-based, and Donna’s version is more like “I’ll just do it myself because it’s easier.”Donna hates “work Adam”. We talk about the time Adam took a tantrum at a party because Donna burnt the popcorn. Was he out of order? We’ve discovered Adam can’t be a boss. We genuinely want to know: how do people with ADHD manage being a boss? Send your tips!Plot twist: Adam has zero control at home. Same brain, different costume.Reputation, all-or-nothing thinking, and “if I can’t do it properly, I won’t do it.”“I would phone a man.” (Also turns out Adam wasn’t a great DJ… we unpack that too.)Work Adam = control freak. Is it ADHD or does everyone spend it like Beckham? - An honest chat about impulsive spending!
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or does everyone spend it like Beckham?New episode out now on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective 🎙️ and this one is a proper funny, real-life reflection of what it’s like being a couple living with ADHD. No scripts, no pretending we’ve got it all together… just an honest chat that somehow turns into Amazon parcels, condensed milk, and a popcorn machine scandal.Listen on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnSWatch on YouTube (this episode):https://youtu.be/ohwOVdtrWLwMore on our website:https://www.adhdorlife.comSpacegoods (20% off):https://www.spacegoods.com/ADHDORLIFE20What we cover in this episode:We start with Adam’s strong feelings about the episode title (he hates it… which obviously makes it funnier).Quick catch-up on the week: Adam is still on Spacegoods, plus he’s added Lions Mane supplements and reckons he’s felt a big difference… or is it placebo? (We discuss.)Also: Adam’s unhealthy relationship with condensed milk. Yes, it’s a thing.Main topic: impulsive spendingAmazon parcels turning up like it’s Christmas every day.Adam’s dream car… the 15-year-old Fiat Doblo. The kids are not impressed.Business expenses and “dodgy dealings” to buy a popcorn machine… which Adam then broke and had to replace the night before the party. Stress levels: biblical.Adam’s official announcement: do not use eBay.Is it all the dopamine of shiny new things? Is impulsivity massive in ADHD?Does research lead to the right purchase… or is the final decision always impulsive anyway? Is it exciting or does it drive Donna mad? (Spoiler: both.)Temu chat, bargain dopamine hits, and flat pack drama.Should Adam be allowed to online shop unsupervised? Should you buy brand new? Should “future me will figure it out” be banned as a lifestyle?Out of sight, out of mind… especially with credit cards.Should Adam set up an ADHD hobby swap shop? (Because the hobby graveyard is real.)Obsessing over purchases: scouring Facebook Marketplace for days and weeks like it’s a second job.The shame cycle (massive), and the comedown after the excitement wears off.Does Donna feel betrayed… or is she an enabler? And will any bad purchases ever be returned? (Don’t be silly.)Adam and Donna make a deal. Also: does anyone want to buy a popcorn machine? The other side: money worries, relationship stress, and whether it’s all “fun” when the bills land.Is Donna the responsible one… or does she spend just as much, just on boring family stuff?Has one-click buying made everyone worse? Does anyone wait more than one day for delivery now?Does social media make impulsive spending worse? Is it emotional spending? Should Adam buy a tent? (This becomes a real question.)Does it affect our relationship? We get properly honest about the highs and lows.5 Minute MoansTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Is it ADHD or just Blue Monday?
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or just Blue Monday?New episode out now on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective 🎙️ We’re talking Blue Monday, why this time of year can feel heavier, and why ADHD can make it hit different (and harder). Before we get into the doom and gloom… we start with @Spacegoods! It’s had Adam absolutely BUZZING for a week and operating at a level of energy that frankly isn’t available in standard retail.Get 20% off Spacegoods here: https://www.spacegoods.com/ADHDORLIFE20 What we cover in this episode:- Blue Monday: real thing, marketing thing, or “either way I feel a bit grim”?- Why ADHD can make January feel like wading through fog.- Adam’s hyperfixations this week: we went to see Song Sung Blue (Neil Diamond)… and now Adam is fully convinced he needs to start a Neil Diamond tribute band.- But what’s the difference between an ADHD hyperfixation and Donna’s long-standing obsession with Ronan Keating… the one that literally got her in the newspaper? (Yes, really.)- Is it sadness… or are we just absolutely knackered?- Why this time of year can be so rough.- “Overstimulated but underwhelmed” — the most ADHD sentence ever.- Adam thinks work helps. Donna’s quietly enjoying him having a few nights off… - What song made Donna cry on the way to the podcast? (It’s a moment.)- The underrated power of having a day off.- Practical stuff that helps when you’re in the mud: starting your day fresh at ANY time, the 2-minute rule, and getting out of shame spirals.- Adam reveals his secret to avoiding New Year’s resolution shame.- Do you stop caring with age? Should you stop worrying what people think?- Donna’s perspective (as always: calm, neuronormal, and mildly baffled by Adam).- And yes… Emmerdale gets a mention. Obviously.5 Minute Moans:- Adam’s driving… and the important question: does ADHD control the windscreen wipers? Because the wiper decisions being made are NOT neurotypical.- Donna’s fashion choices: is it a cute co-ord… or is it giving cheap tracksuit? (We discuss. Thoroughly.)We finish with our listeners’ good, bad and ugly stories — and we’re genuinely grateful for every one. Is it ADHD or Imposter Syndrome? PART DEUX!
Send us Fan MailThis week on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective, we’re back on the imposter syndrome topic… but this time we’re going full ADHD with it. Because imposter syndrome on its own is rough — but add ADHD, masking, late diagnosis, and a lifetime of being misunderstood… and it turns into a whole different beast.Episode Highlights:Imposter syndrome through an ADHD lens: that fear you’re “faking it”, being a fraud, and getting found out.The weird ADHD brain twist: when you have a good day, it can feel like “proof” you were never struggling in the first place.Diagnosis can actually make the imposter louder — because once ADHD has a name, you start replaying everything and doubting yourself even more.Years of being told you’re lazy, dramatic, too sensitive, too much… it sticks. And it makes you question your own reality. The “other people have it worse” trap — and how it shuts down your own needs before you’ve even admitted them.Masking: if you’ve hidden the struggle for long enough, you start believing the mask is the real you… and then you feel like a fraud when you finally admit you’re not coping.A good day doesn’t cancel a hard life. ADHD is patterns over time — not one productive afternoon where you answered emails and remembered your keys.Starting a podcast seriously upped the imposter syndrome ante: “Who am I to even talk about this?”And the reminder we keep coming back to: we’re not experts — we’re just sharing our experiences, honestly, in the hope it helps someone feel less alone. What might actually help (without pretending it’s a magic fix):Naming it when it shows up (because sometimes just clocking it helps)Catching the “proof” thoughts and challenging them (“one good day doesn’t erase years of struggle”)Being kinder to yourself than you’d ever be to someone elseRemembering ADHD is real, even when you’re functioningWe also have listener good, bad and ugly stories — and this week they’re imposter syndrome specials. They’re relatable, hilarious, painful, and basically proof that this isn’t just a “you” thing.#ADHDPodcast #ImposterSyndrome #ADHDAndImposterSyndrome #LateDiagnosisADHD #ADHDMasking #Neurodiversity #Neurodivergent #ADHDLife #ExecutiveDysfunction #EmotionalRegulation #ADHDSelfDoubt #SelfDoubt #MentalHealth #ADHDMentalHealth #RSD #RejectionSensitiveDysphoria #ADHDCommunity #ADHDAwareness #SelfCompassion #Mindset #AnxietyAndADHD #RealLifeADHD #CouplesPodcast #UKPodcast #AdultADHD #ADHDWomen #ADHDMen #ADHDCopingStrategiesJoin us / follow us:Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdrelationshipsunfiltered Instagram: @adhdorlifepodTikTok: @adhdorlifepodYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ADHDorLifepodTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Is it ADHD or Imposter Syndrome?
Send us Fan MailNew episode out now! 🎙️ This week on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective, Adam is absolutely pumped on coffee and ready to go… and Donna brings the topic because lately Adam’s been dealing with a BIG one: imposter syndrome. After a huge magic show at Craig Tara in Ayr (a proper dream venue for Adam), the excitement quickly turned into that familiar feeling of “Who do I think I am?” and “They’re going to realise I’m not good enough.” So… is it ADHD, is it imposter syndrome, or is it just life doing what life does best?Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnS Watch on YouTube (this episode): https://youtu.be/abglweUxMys More on our website: https://www.adhdorlife.com Episode Highlights:- What is imposter syndrome really — and does it only show up at work, or can it creep into every part of life? (Could it literally be Adam’s middle name?) - The Craig Tara magic gig: Adam books the show… then immediately thinks he’s not good enough. Excitement → instant regret → worry spiral. - Working well under pressure… and also leaving everything to the last minute (because of course). - Adam’s first instinct: spend a fortune on new tricks. Second instinct: leave practising until the last possible second. Classic. - That horrible feeling that things are “never going to happen” or that you don’t deserve the good stuff when it finally does. - Why imposter syndrome feels like torture: knowing something rationally, but not being able to feel it in the moment. - Starting a new job, not feeling like you belong, feeling like you’re on trial, feeling like you’re about to be “found out.” - Adam vs Donna: how it shows up differently, including Donna’s experiences when she was a singer. - When does the feeling leave — is it imposter syndrome, or is it just nerves? - Is imposter syndrome like a man in a dark cloak sat on your shoulder like a traitor, whispering nonsense into your ear? - Interacting with peers but feeling like you’re not on the same level… and how it drains your confidence. - Networking meetings, social awkwardness, and the fact none of it feels rational. If only you could pause life like a movie and have a word with yourself. - Adam’s shocking confession: he gets imposter syndrome at the BARBERS. (Yes, really.) Do they judge him for having no hair? We unpack it. - Ego states, putting yourself down, feeling inferior, and forgetting past wins like they never happened. - Can you actually enjoy good experiences instead of feeling sick about them? Should we all just be kinder to ourselves? - Strategies that actually help: name it, challenge the thoughts, and give yourself a proper confidence talk (even if it feels cringe).**5 Minute Moans:**- Why won’t Adam duet with Donna? - And why doesn’t Donna care when Adam nearly dies? Did he faint? (You’ll have to listen…)We wrap up with listeners’ good, bad and ugly stories — and honestly, they’re so good it’s pushed us into **Part 2 next week**: *Imposter Syndrome Part 2 – ADHD Special*.Join us / follow us:Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! ADHD or Life? – New Year’s Resolutions! (Happy New Year from Adam & Donna)
Send us Fan MailADHD or Life? – New Year’s Resolutions! (Happy New Year from Adam & Donna)🎙️ Adam and Donna are back with the first episode of 2026, and we’re doing what everyone does this time of year… talking New Year’s resolutions (and whether any human on earth actually keeps them). But first: Christmas with ADHD, the build-up, and the shock twist of the season… no meltdowns. Who even are we?Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnS Watch on YouTube (this episode): https://youtu.be/Q4WDRzig8zA More on our website: https://www.adhdorlife.com Episode Highlights:- Christmas with ADHD: the build-up, the chaos potential… and somehow, weirdly, no meltdowns. - The important question: who won Christmas? - New Year chat, including Adam’s big magic show and the joy of that one perfect day where we had absolutely nothing to do (best feeling in the world). - New Year, New Me: can anyone actually stick to resolutions, or is it just a January hobby? - Podcast plans for 2026, plus Adam’s ongoing struggle to stay in contact with people (out of sight, out of mind… but with friends). - The gym membership that’s basically a monthly donation- Donna’s resolutions are surrounded by mystery (very on brand). Personal and health goals… but you’ll have to listen to find out. - Christmas eating, and the dream of having a “caravan bag” ready for overnight stays at the drop of a hat. - Strategies to actually keep resolutions, the classic stumbling blocks, and how ADHD can make it harder (or just… different). - Hyperfocus, including hyperfocusing on the wrong things at exactly the wrong time. - Work patterns, juggling, and Adam’s official limit: (spoiler alert: it’s 2). - Couple dynamics: when reminders start sounding like nagging, and how to keep it kind. - Donna’s “neuro-normal” take on resolutions — she used to run and wants to do it again. Does everyone fail… or do we just set ourselves up to? - And finally: Adam gets VERY excited about vision boards and a new office that “must be completed today.” New office, new me.We finish with our listeners’ **good, bad and ugly stories** — and we’re genuinely grateful for every one. Is it ADHD or Is It Anxiety?
Send us Fan Mail(Final episode of 2025… and we’re going out strong.)New episode out now! 🎙️ This week, Adam and Donna tackle a big one: anxiety — how it shows up, how it overlaps with ADHD, and how it can look totally different depending on what’s going on in your brain (and your life). It’s the final episode of 2025, and we’re wrapping up the year with a proper real-life topic: Is it ADHD or Anxiety? We chat about taking some time off — we had a week off for the wedding, and we’ll also be off next week for one week (because life happens!). A bit of a check-in on accountability and social media, then we get straight into the main topic.ADHD + Anxiety (Adam’s flavour):The anxiety that comes from fear of forgetting (because forgetting isn’t just annoying — it can feel like a full-body panic).RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) and how it can turn small moments into big spirals. The classic ADHD-anxiety combo: “I know I should do this… but I can’t.” And the guilt/anxiety that follows.Neuronormal Anxiety (Donna’s flavour):The mental load — carrying everything in your head and worrying what happens if you drop one ball. The worry of being “too much” — especially the fear of becoming a nag just to keep life moving. How anxiety shows up behaviourally (for both of us):Avoidance (if you don’t look at it, it doesn’t exist… right?)ShutdownIrritabilityOver-explaining (because if you can just explain it perfectly, maybe you’ll feel less anxious… maybe)5 Minute Moans:Donna’s getting fed up with Adam starting a conversation… then drifting off mid-way like he’s been teleported to another dimension.Adam’s request of the week: Donna, please stop calling him her “Husband”. (Yes, really.)We finish with our listener good, bad and ugly stories — and we’re genuinely grateful for every single one. Is it ADHD or am I just getting old? - ADHD or Life? - A couple's perspective
Send us Fan MailThis week’s episode is a special one—it’s dropping on our actual wedding day! 🎉 We kick things off with a catch-up on our week and all the last-minute wedding chaos (spoiler: there’s always something missing, especially Adam’s e-cig liquid).Adam picked this week’s subject, and it’s a biggie: Does ADHD actually get worse as you get older? The official answer is “no,” but scroll through social media and you’ll see everyone seems to disagree. So, what’s really going on?We dig into:Life’s mounting pressures as you grow up (and whether self-medicating just masks the symptoms)Is Adam’s ADHD really getting worse, or is it just big life changes—like, say, getting married or maybe even having a baby? 👀Has Adam started leaning into his symptoms, or are we just more aware now?Dopamine regulation, chasing the next “hit,” and the legendary secret cookie-eating on Adam’s paper roundExecutive function demands, life structure, and the all-important authority figures (Donna, obviously)How symptoms shift with age—does impulsivity become emotional impulsivity? Does hyperactivity turn inward? Is forgetfulness just ADHD, or is it life getting harder? Are people who have it all together in their twenties just… boring? Do we just stop masking as we get older? The sudden, shocking realisation: are we actually old now?The support that’s out there (and how to find it)Plus, don’t miss our 5-minute moans—shoes, broken washing machines, and all the usual chaos. Is it ADHD or is Wedding Planning Stressful for Everyone?
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD… or is wedding planning just stressful? In this episode of Is it ADHD or Life?, we kick off with Donna dressed as a sheep (yes, really) before diving into why Adam hasn’t had the best couple of weeks – hello dopamine drought. We chat about the dopamine hit of having something to look forward to, how that links into our upcoming wedding, and why low-calorie ice cream absolutely does not hit the spot. From self-medicating with food and alcohol to Adam feeling strangely flat about the wedding, we unpack what’s ADHD, what’s emotional burnout, and what might just be being human.Donna is still a bit hungover from her hen weekend, and then we get into the main event: wedding planning with ADHD.In true ADHD fashion, we’ve left a lot of things until the last minute. Was that deliberate? Did Adam really believe it was going to happen? Has Donna “caught ADHD” or is she just mirroring? Donna also shares her worries about “disturbing the peace” by talking about the wedding too much.We explore:Surprises and why Adam does not cope well with them (and why on earth Donna said the word “STEN”)The pressure of trying to please everyone, RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria), and the weight of expectationsSpreadsheets, timelines, and whether it should really take five years to plan a weddingThe ADHD symptoms that show up hard during wedding planning – procrastination, overwhelm, decision fatigue, emotional dysregulation and moreHow things shift when the wedding suddenly becomes Adam’s hyperfocusLessons learned… including why you probably shouldn’t buy a kilt from ChinaAdam also shares his slight breakdown in the car on the way to the podcast, and together we ask: is it ADHD, or just being human under a lot of pressure? In our 5 Minute Moan, Adam vents about not getting the praise he craves and his ridiculous e-cig orders from Amazon. Is it ADHD or Just Solo Parenting Chaos?
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or Just Solo Parenting Chaos?New episode out now! 🎙️ This week on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective, Donna has been off living her best life on her hen do, while Adam has been “solo parenting” their 2-year-old… with a little (okay, a lot of) help from the older kids. So was it really solo parenting, and how much parenting did he actually do?Episode Highlights:Hen do vs home chaos: Donna’s away, Adam’s in charge… sort of.We talk about what it’s really like being alone with a 2-year-old toddler and what makes us completely lose our heads. How ADHD shows up in solo parenting:Executive functioning overloadEmotional dysregulationSensory overload and constant noiseWhat Donna does differently with her “neuronormal” brain that makes it look like a walk in the park. Is it really easier, or just different wiring? We agree: solo parenting is hard for anyone – ADHD just changes the texture of it.The mental load, the guilt, the pressure to “do it right,” and how ADHD parents can feel like they’re constantly dropping the ball (even when they’re not).5 Minute Moans:Adam vs the pile of washing that’s literally blocking his TV viewing pleasure.Adam’s incredible ability to lose something he had in his hand 10 seconds ago – keys, remote, you name it.We finish with our good, bad and ugly stories – all parenting themed this week. Is it ADHD or is it F.O.M.O? (Fear of Missing Out)
Send us Fan MailNew episode out now! 🎙️ This week on ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective, Adam and Donna dive headfirst into the chaos of FOMO, with their usual mix of honesty, laughs, and a healthy dose of “did that really just happen?”Adam kicks things off with a classic: should this episode really be called “Is it ADHD or is the grass always greener?”Man flu diaries: ADHD hits hard this week with lost car keys, taxi drama, ignoring the kids (oops), and the epic struggle to change the TV remote batteries.Main topic: Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) – that constant itch for something else, the urge to be everywhere at once, and how social media turns it up to eleven. Is FOMO just part of ADHD, or does everyone get hit by it?Settling vs. seeking: Is the grass really greener, or are we just chasing after shinier things? (Speaking of which: Adam reveals he only realised he had issues when someone else’s pool balls were shinier than his. Yes, we’re talking about actual pool balls here… but the innuendo is strong. Should Adam just be happy with his own shiny balls? Donna’s not convinced.)How RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) and guilt fuel those FOMO feelings.Leaving jobs, impulsivity, and doing “extensive homework” before making a totally rash decision.Saying yes to everything at work, difficulty prioritising, and that endless craving for novelty. Can you admit when you’ve made the wrong choice, or does your ego get in the way?Recovery, finding serenity, and the magic of mindfulness, breathing exercises, and meditation. (Plus, Meatloaf makes a surprise appearance – the singer, not the dinner, but honestly, who knows anymore.)Is it okay to just stay in and sit on the couch? Does parenthood crank up the FOMO, or is this just life?Adam’s big wisdom: Sometimes, wanting is better than getting. Donna’s verdict: Maybe FOMO is just part of being human.5 Minute Moans:Adam’s e-cig saga (the baby gets involved, naturally)Donna’s ongoing struggle: having to ask permission for a Mars barWe wrap up with our good, bad & ugly stories – and we want yours! Is it ADHD or do I just have a terrible memory? - ADHD or Life? A Couple's Perspective
Send us Fan MailWelcome back to ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective! In this episode, we kick things off talking about those rare days when you’re really on form – and how, with ADHD, you’re always bracing for the inevitable crash. Adam’s especially distracted today by the shiny new screen in front of him (classic ADHD moment!).We get a bit reflective as Adam shares how long it’s been since his ADHD diagnosis (spoiler: it feels longer than it is!) and we look back on the last two weeks. Adam opens up about being ridiculed for his appearance on another podcast and how it hit his rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD) hard. Not a fun time – but we’re talking about it, because that’s what we do.Our main topic: working memory. Is your memory just a bunch of sticky notes floating around your brain? We talk about the struggle to remember dates and birthdays, and how ADHD memory can feel totally different from “neuro-normal” memory. Adam even thought he might have Alzheimer’s at one point – but what kept him from going to the doctor? We get into the chaos of juggling a million things in your head, the drama of directions (is getting lost an ADHD thing?), and our total dependence on sat nav. Is forgetting things with ADHD just random, or is it more about distraction? Adam shares how forgetfulness makes him feel and the real impact it has on our relationship. Is it laziness, or is Donna just not getting how little Adam can retain? Should Adam be doing more to help himself remember? We’re honest about the negative side – feeling silly, frustrated, and wondering what’s actually stuck in there. Donna gives her perspective: does she feel ignored or dismissed? We dig into whether communication is the solution, and ask what strategies actually help. Side note: is Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” the new anthem from mums to dads? And yes, Adam might officially be “note guy” now.We wrap up with relationship dynamics, practical strategies, and our signature 5-minute moans – including Donna’s new word for coffee (which Adam can’t stand), and Adam’s ongoing struggle to put things away (is he getting worse?). Plus, our good, bad, and ugly stories, featuring hyperfixations (are Ring doorbell videos the best thing ever?).Share your own memory wins and fails with us! Is it ADHD or Life? – Is the Diagnosis Process Set Up to Fail?
Send us Fan MailThis week, Adam and Donna get brutally honest about the ADHD diagnosis journey: why does it feel like the entire process is designed to trip up the very people it’s supposed to help? From the endless waiting lists and the sea of paperwork to the sheer unknowns (and let’s be real, the frustration), we’re sharing what it’s really like trying to get an ADHD diagnosis in the UK.Adam talks through his experience with the Right to Choose pathway (find out more here: https://adhduk.co.uk/right-to-choose/), why it’s a game-changer compared to the “usual” NHS route, and why it’s still far from perfect. Donna shares her perspective as a neurotypical partner—spoiler: the waiting and the constant not-knowing is hard for everyone. We get into:Why filling in endless forms feels like a cruel joke for people with ADHDWas it just our experience, or is it this bad for everyone? The actual diagnosis appointment: detailed, supportive, but… weirdly short?Could you just say whatever you want? Should you?The “treatment” options: medication or a super expensive app (seriously?!)Doctors who seem as confused as we are, and what the heck a shared care agreement isThe never-ending wait for titration… is it all just one big anticlimax? If you’re thinking about getting diagnosed, in the middle of it, or supporting someone who is, this episode is for you. Is it ADHD or Addiction?
Send us Fan MailAdam has finally received his ADHD diagnosis—and yes, it’s official! (Cue shock, tears, and a whole lot of numbness.) This week, Adam and Donna get real about the emotional rollercoaster of the diagnosis process—how it felt, what it means, and the big, looming question: What’s next? Will Adam become a recluse? Is medication about to change everything? But that’s just the start. In this episode, we dive into a topic we’ve been avoiding: Addiction. Adam always believed ADHD explained everything—maybe even that a diagnosis would be a “cure.” Spoiler: it’s not that simple. We unpack the real connection between ADHD and addiction, bust some myths (“Not everyone with ADHD is an addict, and not all addicts have ADHD”), and dig into Adam’s own journey with alcohol. We talk social anxiety, the confidence boost (and chaos) of drinking, and how addiction isn’t always what you think—it’s not just daily drinking. There’s bingeing, blackouts, embarrassing moments, “beer fear,” and those brutal hangovers. Was there really “two Adams”? We get honest about not being able to stop, and how that spills over into other addictions like food and gambling—always chasing “more.”We get vulnerable about impulsivity, the progression of alcoholism, and the blind spots we all have when judging others. Adam opens up about his first 12-step fellowship meeting, relapsing, hitting rock bottom (hello, living in a caravan and drinking at work), and the loneliness that comes with it. But there’s hope: getting back to meetings, finding community, and choosing sobriety—plus, how Covid could’ve looked very different if Adam wasn’t sober. We also talk about the ADHD side of recovery—backing off meetings, chasing dopamine in new ways, and the rush of problem gambling. Donna shares her perspective: is she an enabler? Do you need a drink to have fun? What’s it like living with a “manchild”? We get real about honesty, self-medicating, and how recovery changes you.Plus: a listener’s email, and our 5-minute moans (featuring towels and socks—you know the drill).Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/g8s2yF1lQiwJoin the conversation and share your story:Instagram: @adhdorlifepodFacebook: @adhdorlifepodTikTok: @adhdorlifepodTwitter/X: @adhdorlifepodWebsite: www.adhdorlife.comListen on Spotify, Amazon Music, or your favorite podcast app!If this episode resonates, let us know! Is it ADHD or Am I Just Terrible With Money?
Send us Fan MailIt’s been a happy couple of weeks since our last episode—life’s been cruising along (for once!) while we wait for Adam’s ADHD assessment. So, we thought we’d tackle a topic that’s a bit… taboo: MONEY. Yes, it’s Donna’s actual worst nightmare, but here we are, diving in anyway. This week, we’re getting real about how both our brains work when it comes to spending, saving, and, let’s be honest, sometimes avoiding our bank balances altogether. Are the Scottish really more generous when it comes to buying rounds for strangers? (Adam has thoughts.) Who actually handles money better between us? Spoiler: Adam’s Amazon and Temu addiction might just tip the scales. Donna would rather spend money on bingo than something “grown up”—relatable, right? We also ask: could budgeting spreadsheets ever work for us, or is it just another failed “adulting” attempt? Plus, our classic five-minute moan returns—Donna’s got a rant about loose change, and Adam’s not letting Donna’s Now TV subscription go without a grumble. And because we love hearing from you, we’re sharing your listener stories this week—all about money mishaps, wins, and everything in between. If you’ve ever felt clueless about cash, you’re in good company.Ready to laugh (and maybe cringe) with us? Is it ADHD or am I allergic to housework?
Send us Fan MailIt’s Friday, so grab your coffee and join us for another honest, slightly chaotic episode of ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective! We kick off with our usual catch up: Adam’s convinced he’s been moody (Donna didn’t notice), and he’s been extra forgetful lately - classic ADHD. We chat about the rough patch of symptoms over the past few weeks, including RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) and that relentless racing mind. Oh, and did Donna really want to go to The Spa Garden, or was Adam just overthinking again? Then we dive into this week’s big question: Is it ADHD, or am I just allergic to housework?Let’s be real - housework is boring. But why is it so hard for some of us? We talk dopamine (can you actually get a hit from scrubbing toilets?), executive dysfunction, and initiation paralysis. Adam opens up about his “paralysis is real” moments, plus his weird love for doing the washing. (Is there a better feeling than hanging it out on a sunny day? Hands up if you’ve had to do a load twice!)We get into distractibility: Is Adam’s dish-washing method a recipe for disaster, or does Donna just not get it? And what’s the deal with polishing? are we cleaning or just moving dust around? We confess to buying all sorts of cleaning gadgets, and debate the all-or-nothing approach (deep clean or nothing at all). Skirting boards? Adam’s nemesis. (Spoiler: we get the kids to do them.)Cue the shame spiral: you feel guilty for not doing housework, so you avoid it, then feel even more guilty. We talk time-blindness, and how we always over- or underestimate how long things will take. Pro tip: never buy a cheap hoover. (Trust us.)And yes, we admit it - we have a cleaner. Should we feel ashamed? We talk about how this impacts our relationship, and whether mirroring behaviour is a thing (is Adam leaning into the ADHD or just unmasking?). Donna’s been getting annoyed. How do “normal” 9-5 families do this?!We wrap up with some practical tips: body doubling, co-cleaning, delegation, and outsourcing. Then we share some brilliant listener stories that prove we’re all in this together. Finally, it’s time for our 5-minute moan: Adam can’t put rubbish away to save his life, and Donna loves Kids TV at full blast.Join the conversation! Bonus Episode - What’s Tickling Your Eardrums? – Top 5 Podcast Recommendations (ADHD and non ADHD)
Send us Fan MailThis week’s bonus episode is a little different – we’re taking a break from the usual ADHD deep dives to chat about what’s been keeping our ears entertained lately! First up, Adam shares just how long it’s been since he started his ADHD diagnosis journey (spoiler: it’s a lot longer when you have ADHD and time feels like it’s moving in slow motion). We talk about how endless waiting can feel and why the whole process drags on even more when your brain’s wired a bit differently. Then, we get into the big question: do you watch or listen to podcasts? (We’re split!) We’d love to know how you take in your favourite shows.Next, we each share our top podcasts—both ADHD-related and just plain brilliant listens. Adam’s obsessed with the Have a Word Podcast for a proper comedy fix (link below). We chat about whether you should start a new podcast from episode 1 or just jump in wherever. Donna’s top pick is My Therapist Ghosted Me (link below)—she’s absolutely hooked. For ADHD-specific listens, we give a shoutout to You’re Wrong About ADHD (super relatable and fun, link below) and the ADHD Adult Podcast (link below). Adam’s also discovered Follow the Dream (not ADHD, but a wild ride about a guy called Jordan trying to interview Amanda Holden—trust us, you’ll want to hear this story!).We also debate: is long-form or short-form podcasting better? (Spoiler: we can’t agree. Classic.)And of course, we want to hear from you! What are your go-to podcasts? Any hidden gems, ADHD-related or otherwise? Is it ADHD or Is Sleep Overrated?
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or Is Sleep Overrated? We’re running on fumes this week (the title says it all), so join us for a slightly sleep-deprived deep dive into the wild world of sleep habits and ADHD!Fresh from a chaotic week with friends visiting from Spain, we’re sharing how days without naps and chasing after the baby have left even Donna questioning if she’s got ADHD (spoiler: she doesn’t, but sleep deprivation is a great equaliser). Adam’s birthday party gets a mention—did he survive the festivities and the “insulting” birthday cards? You’ll have to listen to find out. Then it’s on to the main event: sleep and ADHD. We only recently learned how much ADHD can mess with your sleep, and we’re unpacking it all. Does Adam pretend he’s cool by getting less sleep? Why does he need noise to drift off, and what’s with his infamous 20-minute alarm for midnight biscuits (but then becomes impossible to wake up)? And how does all this affect Donna, the partner of someone with truly weird sleep habits? We talk about:Different ADHD types and their unique sleep problemsActive minds between midnight and 4am (hello, insomnia club)The mysterious circadian rhythm (are we quoting science or just Facebook memes? Who knows!)Night shifts, sleep envy, and Donna’s 3am wake-ups (is it menopause or just life?)Caffeine, work patterns, and being “passing ships” in the nightOnline gaming, pool credit binges, and late-night anxiety spiralsRestless leg syndrome (the struggle is real), depression, and medication side effectsWhy misdiagnosis happens so oftenPlus, we share some brilliant listener sleep stories, a handful of practical sleep tips, and our 5-minute moans (spoiler: sleep features heavily).Tune in for laughs, honesty, and maybe a yawn or two.Listen here:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnSAmazon Music: https://music.amazon.co.uk/podcasts/494752b8-d33a-41ba-ba8b-ad7bbb246f30Podcast Index: https://podcastindex.org/podcast/6947950RSS Feed: https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/2412869.rssBuzzsprout: https://adhdorlifepod.buzzsprout.com/YouTube: https://youtu.be/U3uxZWTLt64Connect with us & join the conversation:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adhdorlifepodFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/adhdorlifepodTwitter/X: https://twitter.com/adhdorlifepodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@adhdorlifepodShare your own sleep struggles or tips with us—DMs and emails always open!#adhdselfimprovement #ADHDCouples #SleepProblems #RealLife #SleepDeprived #Podcast #Neurodiverse #RelationshipGoals #InsomniaClub #ADHDLife #ParentLifeTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Bonus Episode: Why Is Everyone Talking About Spoons? (And Why We’re Not Sure)
Send us Fan MailThis week’s bonus episode is all about spoons—but not the kind you eat with! Adam’s joined the Dubbi Club from ADHD_LOVE and started body doubling (think: Zoom calls with a bunch of people all working together to stay accountable). But suddenly, everyone’s talking about “spoon theory”—and honestly, Adam’s not convinced it fits.Donna’s not a fan of Adam’s “charging the battery” analogy either, so we try out a few more: WiFi signals, traffic lights, and anything else that helps explain what it’s like to manage energy with ADHD (spoiler: we’re still searching for the perfect fit).We share what’s working for us, what isn’t, and why some of these metaphors just don’t land. Plus, Adam shares how body doubling is going so far (and, as always, there are a few laughs and awkward moments along the way).Have you tried body doubling? Do you use spoon theory, or do you have your own way of describing your energy? Episode 17: "Is it ADHD or Is Social Media Addictive?"
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or Is Social Media Addictive? This week, Adam’s complaining about his sore back (Donna says it’s his “extra padding” 😂) before we dive headfirst into the wild world of social media and ADHD.We get real about how social media messes with our concentration, feeds our impulsiveness, and—let’s be honest—is absolutely brilliant. Adam admits to getting sucked into strangers’ arguments and falling down the rabbit hole (relatable, anyone?). We chat about that delicious dopamine hit from likes and instant gratification. Is this just an ADHD thing, or is everyone hooked?Donna confesses to using the baby for likes (no shame!), and Adam wonders if he should finally get involved in X (Twitter). Spoiler: he’s a professional lurker, but why? We break down our experiences on Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube, and even question if phone addiction is a real thing (especially when Marketplace and impulsive spending come into play).Plus, we’re launching our brand new Facebook group! But it’s not just about ticking boxes. Donna’s in the hot seat too, filling out her own form (and stressing about saying “no” to symptoms). We talk through the emotional side of digging into childhood memories, how weird/bittersweet it feels, and why this step is both exciting and a little daunting. We’ll share what the process actually looks like, why “Right to Choose” is a game-changer (and why we recommend Care ADHD: https://www.careadhd.co.uk/your-right-to-choose), plus what happens next on Adam’s diagnosis journey. Is it ADHD or is it a Superpower? 🤢
Send us Fan MailIs it ADHD or is it a Superpower? 🤢This week on “ADHD or Life – A Couple’s Perspective,” Adam and Donna get competitive as they launch a new challenge: counting calories using the Nutricheck app, with both hosts vying for a special prize. If you want to join in, you can get one month free with this link: https://www.nutricheck.co.uk/partner/adhdorlifepod. We share how turning food tracking into a friendly competition can actually be motivating (and sometimes hilarious). We also talk about our latest adventures—Adam being the only adult dressed as a tree at The Wiggles concert, and Donna’s unexpected new role as a candyfloss maker. Life definitely doesn’t slow down around here. The main topic this week is the “superpower” narrative around ADHD. We break down strengths like hyperfocus, high energy, risk-taking, and creativity—but also point out that neurotypical people can have these traits too. Adam shares why he finds the superpower label patronising, and we question if the real “superpower” is actually the tendency to overthink what others think and feel (which, honestly, can be exhausting). We don’t shy away from the negatives: Adam talks about the stress and masking involved in hosting his big Eurovision party, and we discuss how social situations can be overwhelming when you’re trying to hide symptoms. We also tackle the impact of patronising language, forgetfulness mid-conversation, impulsivity, addiction, and how hyperfocus isn’t always positive (especially when it comes to online shopping on Temu).Listener comments from social media feature heavily—many of you are firmly against the superpower label, with one person calling it “grossly offensive.” We debate whether the superhero tag can be empowering for anyone, or if it just adds more pressure. We wrap up with our “Good, Bad and Ugly” stories and “5 Minute Moans”—both of which revolve around coffee this week (because, let’s face it, coffee is always a hot topic in our house).Listen now:Podcast website: https://adhdorlifepod.buzzsprout.com/YouTube: https://youtu.be/r1VuBlpzpbYNutricheck free trial: https://www.nutricheck.co.uk/partner/adhdorlifepod#ADHD #ADHDCouples #ADHDLife #Neurodiversity #ADHDPodcast #ADHDCommunity #ADHDSuperpower #Hyperfocus #Masking #ADHDStruggles #MentalHealth #Neurotypical #ADHDStigma #Podcast #HonestConversations #ListenNow #CalorieCounting #Competition #CoffeeTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Is it ADHD or a Fad? Attention Seeking? Let’s Talk Stigma 🎙️
Send us Fan MailThis week, we’re diving into a more serious and thought-provoking topic: the stigma surrounding ADHD. The episode kicks off with Donna surprising Adam with a gift, but things take a reflective turn as we unpack some harsh comments we received on a recent social media post about ADHD. These reactions got us thinking—what do people with ADHD really face daily? We candidly explore questions like:Is ADHD just bad behaviour, laziness, or even “spoilt child syndrome”? Why is there extra stigma for those diagnosed later in life? Is ADHD a disorder, a difference, or even a gift—but definitely not a superpower? We also address the common phrase, "Everyone is a little ADHD," and why it can be so dismissive and harmful. Donna shares her unique perspective, and together we reflect on how we once held some of these same misconceptions. Plus, we tackle the hot topic of whether ADHD medication should be more accessible.Of course, it wouldn’t be an episode without our signature segments! This week’s 5-minute moan hilariously involves nappies (yes, really!), and we share some amazing good, bad, and ugly listener stories that you won’t want to miss.💬 Share your thoughts or stories with us!Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adhdorlifepod Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/adhdorlifepod YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@adhdorlifepod 🎧 Listen now on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/46i0iGiwmgvFrlOzoW2SnS, Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/494752b8-d33a-41ba-ba8b-ad7bbb246f30, or your favorite podcast platform!#ADHD #ADHDStigma #ADHDPodcast #MentalHealthAwareness #Neurodivergent #ADHDCommunity #ADHDLife #ADHDInAdults #ADHDRelationships #ADHDJourneyTune in every week for more conversations and revelations! Episode 14: 🎧 Is it ADHD or is Making Decisions Impossible? (Analysis Paralysis)
