26 | God Gives New Life, Hope and Identity

In today's episode, Terry takes one verse from each chapter of the Bible and conducts an experiment to see if there is a thru-story.  What she finds is that there is a pattern that repeats throughout the Bible. Throughout all of recorded history, man continues to cycle through this pattern: Death / brokenness God speaks People drift Warning Judgment Preservation Humility Faith Hope Victory The Good news is that through it all, God calls a broken, prideful humanity into humility and faith.  He preserves them through discipline and judgment.  He gives them new life, hope and identity in His Son and through His Spirit.  He brings final victory through Jesus. The scriptures Terry uses in this episode are all Chapter 5, verse 5 of the book she mentions. 22 | Personal Awareness, Changing What you Cannot See

What if the way you see the world isn’t actually clear? What if there’s been a “plank” in your eye for so long that you don’t even know it’s there? In this episode, Terry explores Jesus’ teaching about judgment, perspective, and self-awareness. Jesus challenges us to examine our own hearts before trying to fix others. But what happens when the beliefs shaping our perspective were formed in childhood? When our “plank” is made up of survival strategies we learned long ago? This episode dives into how early beliefs shape our behaviors, relationships, and sense of worth—and how God invites us to see differently. Jesus asks why we notice the speck in someone else’s eye while ignoring the plank in our own. But sometimes we don’t see the plank because it has always been there. Childhood experiences often shape: How we define safety How we handle emotions How we measure worth How we respond to conflict These beliefs become protective strategies… but eventually they can become limiting patterns. Identifying with Martha Martha in Luke 10 shows this same pattern. She was busy, responsible, and focused on meeting everyone’s needs. She believed she was doing the right thing — being a gracious host, caring for others, and handling responsibilities. But Jesus gently redirected her: “You are worried and upset about many things… but only one thing is needed.” Martha’s history shaped her priorities. Her beliefs shaped her behavior. And Jesus invited her into something different — presence, learning, and relationship. Unlearning lifelong patterns is not easy. These behaviors once kept us safe. But God invites us to something new. Romans 12:2 reminds us: We are transformed by changing the way we think. Transformation happens when we: Notice our beliefs Question old patterns Allow God to reshape our thinking Practice new responses Prioritize what truly matters This is a process. Transformation doesn’t happen overnight. But as we allow God to change the way we think, we begin to see clearly — without the plank — and walk in freedom Scripture Focus Gospel of Mark 6:37–42 Gospel of Luke 10:38–42 Epistle to the Romans 12:2 Spring Reset and Refresh:  Emotions and Thought Patterns Join Terry for a group coaching experience looking at identifying your emotions and transforming your thought patterns!  You'll participate via Zoom and receive a handout for each evening.   Three sessions for $37 April 29 thru May 1 @ 7pm central time.   Sign up here: https://www.illuminatethepath.com/workshop-1   Resources & Next Steps: 💛 Schedule a coaching session with Terry STEP 1:  Visit Terry's website.illuminatethepath.com STEP 2:  Book your first session. https://www.illuminatethepath.com/services STEP 3:  Join Terry's closed FB page, it's a safe place! https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1H5wUdnwab/ STEP 4: Do your work.....you've got this! NOTE:  Just in cast you're wondering about the numbering being off on this episode, it was posted last week and never showed up on distribution channels.  I'm trying again!  Hope you enjoy this episode! Waiting is one of the hardest parts of life. Whether we are waiting for answers, healing, direction, or change, the waiting season can feel long and lonely. In today’s episode Terry discusses the uncertainty of so many things we face in our day to day lives.  God cares about all those things, whether they are BIG or small.  She reflects on what Scripture teaches about waiting and how God often provides in unexpected ways. Through biblical examples and practical encouragement, she reminds us that waiting doesn’t mean God is absent — it is often the place where He is quietly at work.   Scripture References: I Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you! 21 | Passion Week 2026, Easter Sunday Biblical Encouragement

I am posting scripture each day this week that align to what happened the final week of Jesus' life here on earth.   Today's audio, John 20: 1-23, 30-31, is John's description of what happened on Resurrection Day or Easter Sunday.  He describes the women finding the tomb empty and encountering angels in the tomb.  Also Mary being asked "why are you weeping?"   John chapter 20 ends with his own description of why he wrote this gospel...."so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that believing you may have life in His name." This is my prayer for you as you listen to these Passion Week audios.  May you know Jesus the risen Christ!   Regular podcast releases will resume on Tuesday. 20 | Passion Week 2026, Saturday Biblical Encouragement

I am posting scripture each day this week that align to what happened the final week of Jesus' life here on earth.   Today's audio is very short because not much happened on Saturday, which is the Jewish Sabbath.  The laws required Jews to do no work on this day.  Yet we find the Pharisees in Matthew 27:62-66 meeting with Pilate to make sure Jesus' tomb was secured appropriately.  This is in contrast to the disciples who rested according to the law.  Luke 23:56 As you listen to these two short passages, I ask you to consider if your heart is aligned to Jesus' teaching as you approach Easter Sunday. 18 | Passion Week 2026, Thursday Biblical Encouragement

Thursday is an important day in Passion Week.  In today's scripture reading, Matthew 26:17-75, you will hear about the passover meal Jesus shared with his disciples.  We use his words from this scripture when we take communion today.   Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemene and Judas betrays Jesus with a kiss.  You'll also hear Peter deny Jesus three times, exactly what Jesus had predicted earlier.   Let's all make sure we aren't betraying or denying Jesus in the way we engage in the world this week or any week.   I will be posting scripture each day this week that align to what happened the final week of Jesus' life here on earth.  Regular podcast releases will resume next Tuesday. Terry also shares a bit about the "Woes" or charges Jesus brings against the Pharisees.  He calls them hypocrites and blind guides.  Chapters 24 and 25 are Jesus' overview of what his second coming will be like.  I hope you'll find time to read these chapters before the week is out.   I will be posting scripture each day this week that align to what happened the final week of Jesus' life here on earth.  Regular podcast releases will resume next Tuesday. Terry shares a story about a damaged tree crashing in her yard to teach spiritual preventive measures for believers.  When our roots are damaged or not fed, we may eventually be unable to stand under the weight of stress or the storms that come our way.  This episode aired on March 17…..St. Patrick’s Day.  Terry also shared a bit about St. Patrick, who he was and what we know about his life.  The words he wrote on his breastplate are included at the end of the show notes to further encourage you in your walk.  Scripture References: I Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation,  but deliver us from the evil one Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. We find ourselves returning to again and again: I arise today  Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity.  Through belief in the threeness,  Through confession of the oneness,  Of the Creator of Creation. I arise today  Through the strength of Christ's birth with His baptism,  Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,  Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,  Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom. I arise today  Through the strength of the love of cherubim,  In the obedience of angels,  In the service of archangels,  In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,  In the prayers of patriarchs,  In the predictions of prophets,  In the preaching of apostles,  In the faith of confessors,  In the innocence of holy virgins,  In the deeds of righteous men. I arise today, through  The strength of heaven,  The light of the sun,  The radiance of the moon,  The splendor of fire,  The speed of lightning,  The swiftness of wind,  The depth of the sea,  The stability of the earth,  The firmness of rock. I arise today, through  God's strength to pilot me,  God's might to uphold me,  God's wisdom to guide me,  God's eye to look before me,  God's ear to hear me,  God's word to speak for me,  God's hand to guard me,  God's shield to protect me,  God's host to save me  From snares of devils,  From temptation of vices,  From everyone who shall wish me ill,  afar and near. I summon today  All these powers between me and those evils,  Against every cruel and merciless power  that may oppose my body and soul,  Against incantations of false prophets,  Against black laws of pagandom,  Against false laws of heretics,  Against craft of idolatry,  Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,  Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul;  Christ to shield me today  Against poison, against burning,  Against drowning, against wounding,  So that there may come to me an abundance of reward. Christ with me,  Christ before me,  Christ behind me,  Christ in me,  Christ beneath me,  Christ above me,  Christ on my right,  Christ on my left,  Christ when I lie down,  Christ when I sit down,  Christ when I arise,  Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,  Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,  Christ in every eye that sees me,  Christ in every ear that hears me.

Do you find yourself shutting down, running away, or reacting the same way every time you feel emotionally unsafe? 07| Awareness of Personal Pain may Become Treasure

Episode Description: Jesus’ words, “Do not throw your pearls to the swine,” can feel confusing—until we understand what He was really saying. In this episode, Terry shares a deeply personal story about loss, hidden treasure, and the surprising value of what we carry every day. Together, we explore how faith, like a pearl, is formed through discomfort—and why we must take that pain to God.  That pain might be Treasure!   Key Topics Covered: The cultural meaning behind “pearls” and “swine” Why Jesus used this powerful metaphor A personal story of loss and unexpected treasure Recognizing the value of your pain Wearing your faith daily—not hiding it Understanding who you can trust Key Scripture: Matthew 7:6 – “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs…” Reflection Questions: What do you treasure most right now? Do you recognize the value of your relationship with God? Are you taking your pain to God daily?  Are you wearing your faith daily—or hiding it away? Who are you trusting with your spiritual treasure? Closing Thoughts: Your faith is precious. Handle it with care. Wear it daily. Trust God to turn what once hurt into eternal TREASURE.   Listener Invitation: Share what God is asking you to do. Leave a comment or message so Terry can walk with you and pray with you. 03 | 3 Steps to Build Healthy Relationships

The beginning of a new year often comes with big resolutions—and just as much pressure. In this episode, Terry invites you to step away from unrealistic expectations and instead center your year with intention, clarity, and God’s guidance. Rather than trying to change everything at once, you’ll learn how to release what no longer serves you, refocus on what truly matters, and take one faithful step at a time toward the life God is calling you into. This episode offers practical tools, reflective questions, and spiritual encouragement to help you move into the new year grounded, focused, and at peace. HOMEWORK—WHAT MATTERS MOST?   Terry suggests you take one day for each of the topics below.  Spend some time alone with God asking for His insights around each topic.  Your spiritual walk—are you spending time with God daily? Are you loving the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength? Your family—the people closest to you? Your resourses—are you stewarding what God provides with intention? How are you spending your time? Is it aligned with your values? How are you spending your money? Does it reflect what’s truly important to you? Your health—physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually? What about your environment—is your home peaceful, functional, and safe? Your social life—who are you sharing the journey with? Your hobbies and creativity—are you creating the way God designed you to? Want to work with Terry?
