Part 5 Now that I am Saved + How Do I Grow in Faith and Walk with Jesus
Show notes for Melinda Heath podcast “LIFESTYLE OF DAILY JOY” Episode #28 titled “Part 5 Now that I am Saved- How Do I Grow in Faith and Walk with Jesus” FAITH-LED and faith-filled life-long wellness strategies for women. Helping women create sustainable, steadfast, unshakeable, authentic joyful abundant lives, the very joy that Jesus meant for us to have. Faith-led Podcast Life Coach You will not be able to break a woman who leans on and draws her confidence from the Lord for she is covered and clothed in his strength. Today, in part 5 which I am going to share a biblical story as well as one from my personal life to tie this series together and illustrate differing circumstances what it looks like to put one’s faith into action as we choose to trust Jesus with our life and fully surrender to the truth that God does forgive our past sins, that his grace and mercy are ours and will have an impact in our life when we act out in our faith, how our faith can grow, how our life will change or our mindset will change in the way which we live, the way we carry ourselves, what we do in life, leaving our old ways behind and living for Christ, when we have personally chosen to make Jesus the Lord and Savior over our life and then I will share with you some ways in how you will know you are walking with Jesus. Luke 7:36-50 Luke 8:1-3 Proverbs 3:5-6 The many sure ways you can know you are walking with him and have growth in your life and faith are: 1- You will know you are walking with Jesus when you put your complete faith and trust in him that he wants good things for you, when you lean on him for strength and confidence, when you believe that he is there to help you, that he will answer your prayer, that he will be walking beside you, that he will not abandon you, that he will for forgive you if you ask. 2- You know you are walking with Jesus when you have prioritized him to be first in your life. 3- You will know when you have intentionally invited him into your world, your personal bubble and asking him to be a part of it daily, actually having him participate in your life and not just having him wait on the sidelines. 4- You know you are walking with him when you find yourself praying, having conversations with him daily, about anything and everything, all things good, all things not so good, praying and leaning on him for help and guidance in all areas of your life. 5- A way you will know is when you are seeking him, seeking his wisdom rather than relying on just your own and not just seeking but following his wisdom, living out his wisdom. 6- You know you are walking with Jesus when you trust, believe, and have faith in his ways his timing that they are better than yours and you live your life in such a way. 7- A way you will know is if you include him in your decision making on a daily weekly or monthly basis for you life, asking if this what you hope to do, the goals you hope to achieve aligns with his plan for you, if what you would like to do in your life is the direction he would like for you to go. Because who knows maybe he had something different in mind for you, maybe even something better. 8- How you will know is if you consider him and his plans for you first before you choose to take an opportunity that may come up for you, by asking him if that is an opportunity he would like for you to take, if that fits in his plan for your life for there may be an opportunity that is up and coming in your future that he knows about that he meant for you- but you wouldn’t be able to do it because you may have accepted something else prior, so it is always good to check with the Lord first so you don’t miss out on something that could have blessed you or others with your life. 9- You will know you are walking with him when you are completely honest with him. 10- How will you know- when you have the desire to spend more time with him. 11- How will you know you are walking with him, when you care more about what Jesus thinks of you rather than what the world thinks of you. 12- You will also know when you start feeling the conviction of the holy spirit, the way he guides you in your thought processes regarding the things you know you should not be doing (to include the things you try to keep secret the things you don’t want others to know you are doing such things in your life), or the things you struggle with regarding temptation, or things that aren’t kind (the very things you may have used to have done before having accepted Christ and now you may be feeling the conviction to change them- your unkind ways) when you start feeling a conviction of things that aren’t of God that are more of the world and your heart and mind are changing about them as you may be finding you no longer want those ways to be a part of your life, when you start feeling convicted in your heart of how you are with others, no matter who they are, your activities that you do, your thoughts and patterns of behavior and you find yourself turning them around because they no longer feel good or right for you to be doing. 13- You will know you are walking with Jesus if you feel a conviction to disengage with certain people in your inner circle as you may feel the need to make a change regarding who you spend time with as you may come to the conclusion they are on a path you are no longer following. 14- You know you are when you find yourself in not nice situations with others, and instead of you responding like you normally would possibly with an ugly attitude you may be finding how you handle such circumstances has changed. 15- A way for you to know is maybe you are no longer wanting to get back at people, no longer wanting to seek revenge towards those who hurt you. 16- How will you know you are walking with Jesus if you are seeking peace rather than wanting to have the last word with someone, that this is no longer important to you. 17- You will know when you choose to use good over evil to fight the not so nice things off in the world, you find yourself wanting to instead fight them off with kindness, instead of the same ugly darkness that the world has and does offer; when your ways are different than that of world’s ways, when you find yourself no longer aligning yourself with the world’s darkness and the things they see as good and acceptable. 18- you are walking with Jesus when your once angry heart is able to forgive someone. You will know when you start praying for those who persecute you. 20 - You will know you are walking with him when your prayer life includes you thanking him, acknowledging him and who he is what he does in your life, recognizing his faithfulness first and then asking him for something, it is wanting to spend time talking to him, longing to speak with him and not just having the conversations you have with him on the things you want. 21- How you will know you are walking with him is when you have come to the understanding that your identity is in him, not in the world, that your worth and value come from him, not from the world. Now for announcements. I would like to let you know after careful consideration of all that is taking place in my life at the moment, the struggles I am facing, I have come to the conclusion that Friday’s will be the better day for me to publish my podcast episodes, I in my first episode did explain that it will be on Tuesday’s however, with all things considered at least for now, I will need to change the day of week. So, with that, I would like to give some time for my listeners to hear and receive this information before I make the switch. So, next week will be on Tuesday as usual well I plan on Tuesday as it is Wednesday this week that I am able to get this to you and then there will be a gap of a few days then that following week Friday June 5, 2026 is when the new date will be in effect. My second announcement is that the Facebook Community group I have set up I use it to post encouraging thoughts for all my listeners to read and enjoy however, since my only so far communication with you is through my episodes I will start posting any announcements I may have in the community group in case there is an episode you do not listen to and that episode just happens to have my announcements in it so, this way you can get the updated information. The third announcement I have well, it really isn’t an announcement it is more informational in helpful sense. I am not trying to get you to email me, however, if you were to connect with me via email and I had you on my email list when things such as this come up I can send out the information to you ensuring you will receive it otherwise if you choose not to become a member of the community group and you do not listen to all the podcast episodes it is highly probable that you will miss important information such as changes and the like. Things will happen-that the impossible is possible with God, good things will manifest, God does listen and God does hear me-God will answer my prayer, God will fulfill his promises to me, God knows what is best for me, God knows my future, God is with me, God will not abandon-leave or forsake me, God will strengthen me, God is walking with me, God goes before me, God does forgive and he will when I have forgiven all others and I ask him to, all of God’s word is true- all of his word is God breathed, that I do have eternal life in him, that I am his daughter, that he is my shield and protects me, that he is for me and not against me, that there is a way even when I do not see it, that God is not distant from me- he is near me all the time, God is good all the time, God is holy, he wants me to have life to the fullest- an abundantly joyful life and that I can have that by and through him, when I seek God I will find him, in him I have restoration for my spirit when it is broken, that he took on my past sins, scattered and has forgotten about them, that I am worthy- worthy enough for him to have died for me and my sins. God's Promises + Peace in Christ
Show notes for Melinda Heath podcast “LIFESTYLE OF DAILY JOY” Episode #22 titled “God’s Promises + Peace in Christ” FAITH-LED life-long wellness strategies for women. Helping women create sustainable, steadfast, unshakeable, authentic joyful abundant lives through grounded faith, mindset decluttering, whole wellness, and personal limits/boundaries. Faith-led Podcast Life Coach As Kenneth Copeland puts it…. You see, Faith opens the door to God’s promise to you. And patience keeps it open until that promise is fulfilled. Kenneth Copeland Hello! Hello! I am Melinda Heath welcome to Lifestyle of Daily Joy thank you for being here and spending your precious time with me listening to episode #22 “God’s promises + Peace in Christ” If you would like, take a minute to grab your favorite nutritional snack and beverage as well as a pen or pencil and some paper so that you have something to make notations with, just in case you have any takeaways from the episode and you would like to write them down. Alright, today we are focusing on God’s peace and his promises, which happen to be intertwined, and I will be providing lots of scripture verses, demonstrations or examples (if you will) to show how his promises and peace go hand in hand. Deuteronomy 4:2 (NIV-New International Version) “Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I command you.” And 2 timothy 3:16-17 (NIV-New International Version) “All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” His promise is to be close to the brokenhearted Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” God promises his presence in times of trouble John 16:33 “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble but take heart! I have overcome the world.” The promise of his spirit, the holy spirit John 14:26 as Jesus is speaking to his disciples “But the Counselor, the holy spirit, whom the father will send in my name, will teach you things, and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” God’s promise of his constant presence in our life Joshua 1:9 in this scripture verse God is commanding Joshua as he is leading a nation however, this verse also applies to our life, “Have I not commanded you? Why Easter Matters + The Power of Hope Part 1
Show notes for Melinda Heath podcast “LIFESTYLE OF DAILY JOY” Episode #20 titled “Why Easter Matters + The Power of Hope Part 1” FAITH-LED life-long wellness strategies for women. Helping women create sustainable, steadfast, unshakeable, authentic joyful abundant lives through grounded faith, mindset decluttering, whole wellness, and personal limits/boundaries. Faith-led Podcast Life Coach This power of hope was prophesied long before the actual events took place more than 2000 years ago, this history is alive and well and the meaning of the backstory of hope and of Easter matters still today, long until the earth is no more, and our life, the very one that is hopeful we will choose for our soul to live on in eternity- with who fulfilled the prophecy and showed the ultimate act of unconditional love in the most undeserving and sacrificial way. Melinda Heath Welcome yes, I am so glad you are here at Lifestyle of Daily Joy. Thank you for choosing to take your precious time out of your day to listen to episode #20 “Why Easter Matters + The Power of Hope Part 1 of 2 as I would like to conserve your time, there is two parts to this and I am praying that your spirit and soul are touched and inspired from what you hear and experience and it is also my prayer, this story as a whole regarding this amazing, most giving and loving person that you will get to hear about…. moves your heart in such a way you have never been moved in your life before. If you would like before we get started to go ahead and grab your favorite nutritional snack and beverage as well as a pen or pencil and some paper so that you can write down what catches your attention, interest, or any takeaways you may have or possibly something that was impactful for you. Okay, for part 1 I felt it would be best to focus on the back story of Easter, what all was taking place in the background if you will, the events happening that speak of and that lead up to Easter. As I felt this way would be much better for you so there isn’t so much information to absorb all at once and my thinking was that you then could appreciate all that you hear by having an opportunity to really take it in and have some time to process it before we move on with the story of Jesus, hope, and why Easter matters. I would like to provide the Holy Week scriptures that I mentioned in the episode as I did not share them with you in there however, are giving them to you here. The holy week scripture reading will start this Sunday, Palm Sunday and the last scripture reading will be Easter Sunday Sunday John 12:12-16; Psalm 118:19-29; and Philippians 2:5-11 Monday John 12:1-11; Isaiah 42:1-9; and Hebrews 9:11-15 Tuesday John 12:20-36; Isaiah 49:1-9; and 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 Wednesday John 13:21-30; Isaiah 50:4-9; and Hebrews 12:1-3 Thursday John 13:1-17; John 13:31-38; and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 Friday, Good Friday, Jesus Crucifixion John 18:12-40; John 19:1-37; and Isaiah 52:13-53 Saturday John 19:38-42 and 1 Peter 4:1-8 Sunday, Easter John 20-1-30 You can connect with me 3 ways Email [email protected] my landing page https://www.lifestyleofdailyjoy.com and the free and private Facebook group I created for us called Lifestyle of Daily Joy Community this is for those who are interested in building positive relationships, offering encouragement, support, and also a place to request prayer. Does God Hear Me + Does God Answer Prayer
Show notes for Melinda Heath podcast “LIFESTYLE OF DAILY JOY” Episode #17 titled “Does God Hear Me + Does God Answer Prayer” FAITH-LED life-long wellness strategies for women. Helping women create sustainable, steadfast, unshakeable, authentic joyful abundant lives through grounded faith, mindset decluttering, whole wellness, and personal limits/boundaries. Faith-led Podcast Life Coach I would like to share with you a poem I wrote What an amazing feeling it is to realize how beautiful the silence really is, For there was a time it seemed you didn’t care, Only your hard to hear whisper in my ear, But the more I listened intently, your words became more clear, Saying…. just hang on, I can’t wait to share. In the meantime, Put your trust and faith in me, And lay your worry and anxiety at my feet. Though it may not seem like it to you, I am going to help and see you through. And I know you are wondering what is on the other side, If it will help you smile wide, Asking if it will bring peace to your life, Or will it cause you to cry, I hear you quietly and skeptically confide. It is my hope you will hang onto me, If you do, you will be able to see, I’ve got you, I’ve got this, Please don’t despair, I am working something out for you in hopes you will know that I am here by your side, do hear you and do care. Melinda Heath Hello! beautiful soul, yes, welcome to episode #17 “Does God Hear Me + Does God Answer Prayer”. Thank you for taking your valuable and precious time to hang out with me today and for listening to Lifestyle of Daily Joy. Alright… Since I have talked so much about prayer, in many of the episodes I thought it would be a great idea to have an episode focusing on this subject. Because these thoughts have come to my mind that as you are listening to Lifestyle of Daily Joy you probably heard me say I go to God in prayer asking for help, and then my sharing with you about my experience or one of my personal stories regarding how my prayers have been answered in my life and the ways in which he has helped me in different situations. And it is also…. could quite possibly be you have heard me encourage you or at least express that you too can ask God for help in your life because it is his heart to help you as well. I would like to share last week’s announcement again this week, in a month, I plan to do a group coaching type session and are inviting those who listened to the joy mini-series and are interested in getting on a call through zoom to talk about any takeaways may have had from that series. If you would like to participate, please send me an email so that I can know how many of us will be in attendance and this will also be the way I can provide you with updated information. Does Joy Exist + Why Can't I Feel Joy
Show notes for Melinda Heath podcast “LIFESTYLE OF DAILY JOY” Episode #16 titled “Does Joy Exist + Why Can’t I feel Joy?” FAITH-LED life-long wellness strategies for women. Helping women create sustainable, steadfast, unshakeable, authentic joyful abundant lives through grounded faith, mindset decluttering, whole wellness, and personal limits/boundaries. Faith-led Podcast Life Coach According to Jesus as he is quoted in the bible in the book of Matthew chapter 6 verse 21 (NIV-New International Version) “For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.” Today, is the last episode of the joy mini-series that we have been journeying through the last 9 weeks starting with episode #8 “Meaning of Joy in Life” and we will be wrapping it up by my expanding on the context and bringing new thoughts, ideas, a new perspective or a new angle to what I have shared in each of the episodes previously all the way through episode #15 “Faith-Based Self-Care” essentially tying it all together, the compilation of the ways in which true joy and self-care looks like in our life, how we can build, create, and maintain it. And I hope you have been able to see in this mini-series how each episode is built onto the next as it brings in another concept that ties into how creating joy works and how all the ideas are connected to each other. I sincerely apologize for the duration of the episode as I do truly do honor your time as I understand you have things that keep you busy in life and this week I did go way beyond my own time limit, today though we do have a lot of exciting ground to cover as we are compiling all of the joy mini-series and I do have lots and lots of good stuff for you today as well as an announcement and that is I am inviting you to participate in a no-cost to you, group discussion session. I am thinking about planning on doing this in about a month or so by zoom is what my intention is regarding it. So, yes, what this session will entail is as we will have completed our joy mini-series today, it will be comprised of us having a conversation or discussion if you will about any take aways you may have had, any insights that have come to you, anything that stood out to you, what may have inspired you or gave you motivation, something that helped you no matter how small that may be, maybe something you have tried and or implemented that is working for you, or possibly gave you some ideas that you hadn’t thought about, really anything that grabbed your attention from what I have shared in episodes 8 through today’s episode, #16. My thought process is for any of my listeners who are interested, that we could all come together and share our ideas. What are your thoughts? If this sounds like something you would like to do, go ahead and send me an email to let me know you are considering to be a part of it as this will give me an idea as to how many will be in attendance. I will provide my email address to you at the end along with the other ways you can connect with me so that you can receive the information, any updates I may have, or details as well as receive an answer to any question or questions that may come to mind for you. I am sharing with you here as well as in the episode my personal formula to sustainable authentic joy. It is knowing you, who you are authentically + acknowledging and accepting all parts of yourself, even the ones you don’t care for + knowing and understanding not everyone is going to align with or accept you, and being okay with that + being able to allow people to have their opinions about you but not internalizing them as truth by not believing you are not worthy it is just that you are just not right or meant for them + understanding and accepting you aren’t perfect and there will be times you don’t always get it right and that is okay because you are human and God understands this + life isn’t always going to go the way we hoped that there is maybe a different plan God had for you + joy is being at peace with these things and in times when your life seems to be falling apart it is though not comfortable or fun, you are going to be okay because you have what you need to get through + placing necessary boundaries on yourself to protect yourself from your human natured tendencies to want to be accepted by all + and having an unwavering grounded faith in the Lord that he truly wants what is best for you, that he has a plan for you, and that he cannot wait until you decide to partner with him in your journey of life. The three ways you can connect with me By email [email protected] My simple landing page https://www.lifestyleofdailyjoy.com and in the free private Facebook group I created for us called Lifestyle of Daily Joy Community. Helping women create authentic joyful abundant lives through grounded faith, mindset decluttering, whole wellness, and personal limits/boundaries. Faith-led Podcast Life Coach According to Lao Tzu Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them- that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like. Lao Tzu Hello- Hello- beautiful souls I am Melinda Heath welcome to “Lifestyle of Daily Joy” episode #14 “Ditch Schedule + Mental Health” I have been having so much fun journeying with you so far, are really glad you are here hanging out with me, and I thank you for taking your precious time to listen. If you haven’t already, take a moment to grab your favorite nutritional snack and beverage as you get settled in. Today we are continuing our self-care series and will be talking about giving ourselves permission to ditch our schedule. I would like to clarify the context in which I am speaking about, I am not meaning no longer having a schedule or not living life by a schedule ever again what I am meaning is sometimes there are days, weeks or months even, as in my case that it might be good to toss it out the window for the time being and go with the flow in whichever way the day comes for each of us for the sake of our peace and so, today is about grace, giving ourselves grace by allowing us to have permission to prioritize and only focus for the time being on the things that are truly important that truly matter to us during different seasons or situations we may find ourselves in life. I would like to share with you that I have been struggling a great deal with different things in my personal life, things feeling heavy for me these last couple of months which is what brought this subject front and center as I was throwing my hands up in the air recently leading me to embrace and say my new motto which is, “do what you can and let that be good enough”. How to Stop Hiding Your True Self
SHOWNOTES FOR MELINDA HEATH PODCAST “LIFESTYLE OF DAILY JOY” EPISODE #12 TITLED “HOW TO STOP HIDING YOUR TRUE SELF” My thought and questions to you as well as to myself are…. You only get so much precious time here on this earth so…. How would you like to use it? And what type of energy would you like to create and bring to it? Melinda Heath Welcome, welcome, my beautiful souls TO “Lifestyle of Daily Joy” episode #12 “How to Stop Hiding Your True Self” I am Melinda Heath and are super excited about today because I will be sharing about a subject that is very…. dear to my heart, one that deep down, my spirit speaks to-- and in my opinion feel that if many of us were to have a conversation with each other, we would learn we have something in common, that you are able to relate to this just as I am. Okay… If you haven’t already go ahead and grab your favorite nutritional snack and beverage as well as a pen or pencil and some paper because this message today is completely packed with so much information you may hear something you would like to notate- and we will dive right on in. In episode #11 “How Loving Yourself Authentically Looks Like” we covered what authenticity is and what living an authentic life looks like. In a recent episode “things that steal joy” we talked about what hinders, steals, and robs us of joy and worry was one of those things, so, in this episode we are going to be focusing on how worry ties into “how to stop hiding your true self” because of the things that we worry about. And throughout the episode I will be touching on how it plays into self-care, well-being, joy. Additionally, how it undermines our authenticity, in the sense of placing our worth in the thought processes of others that can affect our decision making, and the very things we appreciate about ourselves. Essentially, how worry can cause us to question, compare, shrink, and ultimately no longer like or to even know who we are. So, we are going to discuss the person we don’t allow others to see, the person we don’t allow others to experience, the person we keep hidden and locked away deep within us, our truth. The exercises for the previous episodes as well as today's The exercises last week, you wrote down all the things you feel are hindering your joy, stealing your joy and robbing you of joy. The things that you tell yourself positive or negative. The things you feel true to be about yourself or the ones you hear that you feel aren’t true of you. And this week if you haven’t done it already, I would like to encourage you to write down why these things are hindering you, what has taken place for joy to be stolen from you, and why you feel those things have robbed you of joy. I would also like to encourage you to write down why you feel those things are true or are not true of you. And then this week the exercises entail getting out more paper, on one piece make two columns and write down one side all of your believed abilities, your talents, your gifts, everything you know you are capable of doing and in the second column write down all the things you feel you aren’t able to do. Then take some time to think about why you feel you can and why you feel you cannot do these certain things and then write your why’s down. Then consider out of what you can do, the things you feel you do well like wow I really nailed that or if you feel it is something you aren’t good at is it because you are comparing yourself to others or you just don’t really know how to do it and write this information down. For the second exercise today, I would like to encourage you to write down on another piece of paper making a column on one side Write all the things you like and love about yourself and in the other column write down all the things you do not like or love or would like to change about yourself. Then take some time to reflect on these things, consider your reasoning why you do and why you don’t and then write them down. The third exercise for you today has to do with your fears On a piece of paper write all of your fears. And then take some time to think about them and write down why you fear those things. These are just for you, you don’t need to share this with anyone, for your own knowledge, your homework, for you figuring out the type of life you are currently building, the type of life you are living as you are working on creating your joy and building your foundation. This is a picture that you are able to maybe say I don’t want to do that anymore. I do want to continue doing this. I want to do better with this. The purpose of my encouraging you to do these writing exercises is for you to be able to build your confidence if you feel you need to do that. To understand the limiting beliefs you may have about yourself by being able to see your thoughts in front of you. The purpose of getting them out of your mind and onto paper as there is just something about doing this. And I would really like to encourage you to reflect on what these things are true of you because just maybe all these things you originally did not think you were good at otherwise. To be able to see the things you do not like about yourself and why. To possibly discover it either is because people have said something like this to you or about you- or is it because it is from you internally something you personally do not like. So, that you can see where your liking, loving, disliking of yourself is coming from. By writing all these things down may help bring clarity to you. These exercises are meant to help you get to the bottom of who you are, what you are about, what you bring to the table, what you feel is really good about you, and it gives you a chance to see who you really are as a person, how you operate. They can help paint a picture of your true authentic self. So, for today, this is the exercise for you answering these questions and writing your answers down, as it helps to see what your brain is thinking. What does your life look or feel like when your self-care is fulfilled? What does it look like when your joy is overflowing? When is your well-being is optimal? What do you feel will be the first step for you to achieve any one of these things? What types of things are hindering you from being able to create this for your life? What types of things are in the way from you being able to design what you want for your life? What is in the way for you in being able to live the life that you can envision for yourself? What is it that you are holding back, that you are suppressing about yourself, the part that you are pushing down…what is that authentic part of you? What is that part of you that we do not allow others to see? What are the parts of you that you don’t allow people to experience because you worry fear of being judged? What steps can YOU take to stop hiding your true self? The reference for the movie I mention in the episode Legally Blonde Legally Blonde. 2001. The three ways you can connect with me are By email [email protected] My landing page https://www.lifestyleofdailyjoy.com and the free private Facebook group I created for us called Lifestyle of Daily Joy Community it is for those who would like to build positive relationships, encourage and support each other as well as a place for prayer requests. How Loving Yourself Authentically Looks Like
SHOWNOTES FOR MELINDA HEATH PODCAST “LIFESTYLE OF DAILY JOY” EPISODE #11 TITLED “HOW LOVING YOURSELF AUTHENTICALLY LOOKS LIKE” THE THINGS IN OUR LIFE THAT WE NURTURE WILL GROW POSITIVELY OR NEGATIVELY DEPENDING ON HOW AND WHAT MEASURE WAS USED IN THE NURTURING Melinda Heath I am Melinda Heath and welcome you to “Lifestyle of Daily Joy” episode #11 “How Loving Yourself Authentically Looks” thank you so much for being here and spending your precious time with me, it means the world. Today, we will be continuing our self-care series along with our joy mini-series with “How loving yourself authentically looks”. As I mentioned in the last episode we will be talking about three things that hinder or steal our joy and they are fear, worry, as well as inauthenticity and how these relate to self-care and our well-being. However, I do sincerely apologize as I was recording, I noticed how long this episode ended up being, so this week if you do not mind… we will only talk about fear and inauthenticity and next week we will dive into the subject of worry. It is just that I try to keep the length of the episodes 45 minutes or shorter because I do value your time and understand you have other things in your life that you need and would like to do. Okay, as we dive deep into these things the focus will be on what authenticity is, what it means, what it looks like, the hindrances you may be facing regarding it, and how we can have an authentic life and love it. When I speak about authenticity, I am meaning the very substance of us, who we truly are as a person, maintaining all our amazing qualities that we have been given no matter how many people like us or don’t like us. And I will be sharing many examples from my own life. The exercises last week, you wrote down all the things you feel are hindering your joy, stealing your joy and robbing you of joy. For the second exercise today I would like to encourage you to write down on another piece of paper making a column on one side Write all the things you like and love about yourself and in the other column write down all the things you do not like or love or would like to change about yourself. Then take some time to reflect on these things, consider your reasoning why you do and why you don’t and then write them down. The third exercise for you today has to do with your fears On a piece of paper write all of your fears. And then take some time to think about them and write down why you fear those things. Thank you so much for hanging out with me and listening in. You can connect with me three different ways By email [email protected] On my landing page https://www.lifestyleofdailyjoy.com And in the free private Facebook group I set up for us called Lifestyle of Daily Joy Community it is for those that are interested in building positive relationships, who would like to offer encouragement, support, or be uplifting to one another. Things That Steal Joy
SHOW NOTES FOR MELINDA HEATH PODCAST “LIFESTYLE OF DAILY JOY” EPISODE #10 TITLED “THINGS THAT STEAL JOY” According to Joyce Meyer… “WHEN WE FILL OUR THOUGHTS WITH RIGHT THINGS, THE WRONG ONES HAVE NO ROOM TO ENTER.” Joyce Meyer Welcome I am Melinda Heath and are so glad you are here at Lifestyle of Daily Joy listening in to episode #10 “Things that steal joy” I am not sure who needs to hear my message today, but I am feeling strongly led to share certain things that are on my heart and it will be coming from the deep love I have for you, my beautiful souls as I will be telling it to you straight and just so you know I am feeling nothing but love and it is my prayer that it will come across in the way I intend for it to. Alright, As I was thinking about joy this past week reflecting on how I was able to create it in my life those thoughts didn’t just stay there they also brought me to what I have learned in my personal journey about the things that not only can steal but also rob my joy, additionally the things that held power to also hinder it without my realizing what was happening. I discovered things that hinder, steal or rob one’s joy can be sneaky things, things that one may not even think would be able to do that. Thank you so much for listening today. You can connect with me three different ways. Self-Care that Brings Joy
Show notes for Melinda Heath podcast “Lifestyle of Daily Joy” Episode #9 titled “Self-Care That Brings Joy” “DEPENDING ON WHAT IS INSIDE OUR FILLED CUP, WILL DEPEND ON WHAT IS POURED FROM IT.” Melinda Heath I am Melinda Heath. Thank you for choosing to be here at “Lifestyle of Daily Joy” and for hanging out with me in “Self-Care That Brings Joy” Alright as I mentioned in my last episode #8 “Meaning of Joy in Life” today we will be starting our self-care series. For those who have yet listened in on my first episode “The Foundation for an Abundance of Lifelong Joy”, it was in there that I mentioned it is my belief one of the foundations of an authentic joyful life has to do with how we view ourselves, the messages we feed our minds and spirits as well as what we believe to be true about us. For it is my personal opinion… this is not only part of the foundation of joy but also the foundation of self-care, the beginnings of true self-care…. And in this episode, I will be explaining why I feel it is. I tend to believe in the importance of understanding these concepts and ideas because Lifestyle of Daily Joy’s premise is how to create daily joy and a lifestyle of it and what our episode today consists of going hand in hand with that. So while we are going through this series of self-care and continuing the mini-series of joy we will be slowly uncovering what it is, what it isn’t, the characteristics of it, and whether it differs from happiness or not, in which we did talk about these four ideas in Episode #8 “Meaning of Joy in Life” and so now, we will be expanding these ideas, giving them life….by talking about ourselves and what I believe to also be the foundation for well-being, or whole wellness if you will. According to https://activeminds.org self-care is doing things to take care of your mind, body, and soul by engaging in activities that promote well-being, reduce stress, lower your risk of illness, and increase your energy. According to Southern New Hampshire University https://www.snhu.edu Self-care is anything that you do to keep yourself spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially healthy. Melinda Heath Welcome beautiful souls… I am Melinda Heath and are thankful you are here at Lifestyle of Daily Joy taking your precious time to listen in on episode #8 “Meaning of Joy in Life” In today’s episode “Meaning of Joy in Life” we will focus on what joy is and isn’t and the question whether it differs from happiness or not. So, here we go… let us start off with some definitions and characteristics of Joy from varying sources - According to Merriam Webster, joy is great pleasure or delight from well-being, success or good fortune, also contentment, elation, and gladness. According to Dictionary.com, joy is emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying. Elation. In addition, the definition of Joy in Psychology – It is deeper than happiness, a state of gladness, it is feeling satisfied and that joy has meaning to it rather than just a feeling. It comes from living authentically, it is finding purpose in life (even in the midst of suffering), it involves being content and being actively engaged in life. In psychology joy is said to boost energy, confidence and resilience, similar to endorphins or dopamine and even can be present while experiencing sorrow. It has to do with having life values, it is enduring as well as said to be tied to the inner self. Further… the definition for the deeper meaning of Joy is – The sense of well-being, feeling content and satisfied, is often spiritually and value connected. Joy goes beyond happiness as happiness depends on circumstance, the emotion of happiness comes and goes, but joy is something entirely different, it is on a different level than happiness for it is rooted within us, it isn’t an emotion per say, it is more a choice, a way of life, it is intentionally accepting the realities of life that life isn’t always going to be a bed of roses as it relates more to finding things you can be thankful for in life and have gratitude for, it has something to do with how one approaches life, it is an inside job, it is a life of inner peace (even in times of suffering and troubles) and it has to do with living authentically. The biblical definition of joy is– Deep enduring spiritual contentment and delight in God. It does not depend on circumstances, it is an inside job, it is supernatural, it is of the spirit not just emotional, and it manifests gratitude for what you have, an attitude of the heart, it is faith and hope. In Christianity joy means– being separate from worldly happiness, it is of the holy spirit, it is of the fruits of the spirit, as it pushes through trials with the attitude of resting in God’s presence and promises bringing a source of strength during times of trials. Just Do It Finding Joy In A Broken World
In light of us heading into a new year and with all that is going on in the world around us, all across the globe currently,….there may be a chance you have been asking yourself is it even at all possible to create and have an abundance of authentic joy, could I even really think about such things considering the climate of all that has been and is taking place…..???? The answer is a resounding yes and, in this episode, I am going to share with you a personal story, a recent conversation between God and I regarding this because I asked him a similar question prior to my launching Lifestyle of Daily Joy. So, you will get to hear all about the messages I received and the wonderment of the signs I experienced that guided me to his answer. I will also in this episode share how my podcast came to be, a different story as I had been in much prayer about my podcast and God being instrumental in utilizing 5 different people I have had in my life (in one form or another), one of them being a non-Christ believer (in which none of them know each other) as all their messages to me had a common denominator, to stop delaying, get my podcast launched, off the ground and up and running now. So, welcome to and thank you, beautiful souls, for being here with me today and listening in to “Just Do It: Finding Joy in a broken World”. I am Melinda Heath and glad you are here.
