Episode 129. Hotel Circus Circus and Feral Child Oxana Malaya
In this week's episode Sandra talks about the famous Circus Circus hotel in Las Vegas. Known as one of the cheapest hotel options this hotel has haunted guests since the 1970's. Full of mysterious stories including the famous room 123 that is so haunted, the hotel won't even rent it out to guests anymore. Danielle explores the extraordinary and heartbreaking story of Oxana Malaya, a girl discovered in 1991 living in a dog kennel in rural Ukraine.Often sensationalized as the “girl raised by dogs,” Oxana’s story is far more complex than the headlines suggest. After experiencing severe neglect at a young age, she survived for years among the family’s dogs, adapting to her surroundings in remarkable ways. Danielle walks through Oxana’s early life, the shocking discovery that brought her story to international attention, and the difficult process of rehabilitation that followed. This episode also examines the broader reality behind so-called “feral children” cases, exploring how early childhood neglect can affect development and what Oxana’s life has looked like in the years since her rescue.Sandra's Sources:https://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/comments/qjx06o/my_paranormal_experience_at_circus_circus_in_las/. https://www.circuscircus.com/hotels/. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circus_Circus_Las_Vegas. https://www.scare-zone.com/2011/10/22/the-13th-floor-experince-at-circus-circus-las-vegas/ https://www.google.com/search?q=circus+circus+room+123&oq=circus+circus+room+123&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQABiABDIZCAIQLhivARjHARiRAhiABBiKBRiYBRiZBTIICAMQABgWGB4yCAgEEAAYFhgeMggIBRAAGBYYHjIICAYQABgWGB4yCAgHEAAYFhgeMggICBAAGBYYHjIICAkQABgWGB7SAQg0OTgyajBqN6gCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:1c59739f,vid:n_9TfPm_k7U,st:0.Danielle's Sources:https://allthatsinteresting.com/oxana-malaya Grice, Elizabeth (July 17, 2006). Episode 128. The Legend of the Hodag and Jodi Arias
In this week's episode Sandra talks about the Hodag. The Hodag is a fearsome creature that resembles a large bull horned carnivore and has been tied to Rhinelander Wisconsin. Listen as Sandra explains how this piece of folklore was also involved in a hoax and how the Hodag has been featured in pop culture like an episode of Scooby Doo and Harry Potter and the Fantastic Beasts. Danielle takes a deep dive into one of the most infamous and polarizing cases of the 21st century: the murder of Travis Alexander and the trial of Jodi Arias. What began in 2006 as a whirlwind romance between two young, ambitious people quickly evolved into a volatile, on-again, off-again relationship marked by secrecy, jealousy, and emotional intensity. By June 2008, that relationship would end in unimaginable violence inside Travis’s Arizona home. How did this whirlwind romance go from being hot and heavy to toxic and deadly? Not all love stories have happy endings. When infatuation turns into fixation and rejection becomes intolerable, the consequences can be devastating.Listener discretion is advised due to discussion of intimate partner violence.Sandra's Sources:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hodaghttps://explorerhinelander.com/meet-the-hodag/. Episode 124. The Screaming Tunnel and the Whistleblower Who Took on the Sydney Police
This week on Oy with the Terror, Sandra talks about the Screaming Tunnel that is located in the northwest corner of Niagara Falls in Ontario Canada. The tunnel was built in the 1900's and has since been abandoned and no one knows why. Local legend says that there was a girl who was on fire and died in the tunnel. Most people say that her screams can still be heard today if a candle is lit in the tunnel. Then, Danielle dives into the haunting and courageous story of Sallie-Anne Huckstepp, a Sydney sex worker turned whistleblower who dared to expose police corruption and paid the ultimate price.Once known for her connection to the criminal underworld, Sallie-Anne shocked Australia in the 1980s when she publicly accused powerful officers of murder and abuse within the New South Wales Police. Just months later, her body was found floating in Centennial Park, her death a chilling reminder of the risks of speaking truth to power.Danielle unpacks Sallie-Anne’s life, the explosive corruption scandal that rocked Australia, and the lingering questions that still haunt her case decades later. Episode 123. The Scandalous Rise and Fall of Lola Montez and the Legend of Robin Hood
This week on Oy with the Terror, Danielle dives into the scandalous life of Lola Montez, the 19th-century dancer, courtesan, and femme fatale who reinvented herself into a living legend. From her Irish roots to her fiery “Spider Dance,” Lola seduced some of the most powerful men of her time, including King Ludwig I of Bavaria, whose obsession with her nearly toppled his throne. But Lola wasn’t just about scandal and seduction—she blurred the lines between performance and manipulation, politics and passion, villain and icon. Was she a dangerous con artist, or a woman simply refusing to live by society’s rules? Then, Sandra talks about the legendary Robin Hood. The legend of Robin Hood has been around for centuries. From ballads that were set in the 14 and 15th centuries to today's Robin Hood which is featured in popular movies like Disney's Robin Hood and the notorious Robin Hood Men in Tights. Episode 122. Oy With the Yacht Scandals Already: The Mysterious Death of Thomas Ince and the Elevator Game
This week on Oy with the Terror, Danielle takes us back to the glamorous — and grim — world of 1920s Hollywood to explore the mysterious death of film producer Thomas H. Ince. Officially, he died of indigestion. Unofficially? He may have been accidentally shot aboard William Randolph Hearst’s private yacht, in a scandal involving Charlie Chaplin, Marion Davies, and a media empire powerful enough to bury the truth. From suspicious cover-ups to silent witnesses and a yacht party that ended in tragedy, this case has all the makings of a classic noir. This topic inspired the campy, mystery film, The Cat’s Meow, where none other than Richard Gilmore (okay, Edward Herrmann) plays Hearst. Was it a medical emergency… or a murder swept under the red carpet? Then, Sandra talks about the Elevator Game. The object of the game is to use an elevator and follow very specific instructions to get transported to a different dimension. This game originated in South Korea and even inspired a movie that was released in 2023 by the same name. After listening to the podcast episode the only question to ask is would you play?Danielle's Sources:https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266391/https://www.latimes.com/https://www.nytimes.com/https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/was-hollywood-pioneer-thomas-ince-murdered-123977388/https://www.tcm.com/Sandra's Sources:https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14013772/ https://www.reddit.com/r/UrbanLegends/comments/1e0kndt/is_the_elevator_game_real/https://www.korea.net/Events/Overseas/view?articleId=18358. https://www.reddit.com/r/nosleep/comments/7vfmxb/do_not_play_the_elevator_game_words_of_a_big_time/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Elisa_Lam.

Episode 116. 1920's Honeymoon Couple Disappearance, Beast of Bray Road Lore and Australian Scammer Belle Gibson
We are back, with friend of the podcast, Liz! She regales us with the story of Glenn and Bessy Hyde. What happens when a honeymooning couple decide to journey across the Grand Canyon river? Well, for Glenn and Bess Hyde no one can fully agree on what happened. It’s the best kinda unsolved mystery. We have creepy thematic poem written by Bess before her disappearance. We have the grandson of one of the most famous mayors of San Francisco. We even have strong opinions about life jackets. Then, Sandra talks about the popular legend the Beast of Bray road seen in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. The Beast is described as being between six and seven feet tall, having a humanoid body, covered in fur or hair and having a head resembling a wolf and having red or orange eyes. The first sighting occurred in 1936 and there were several sightings in the 1980's. The legend has become so popular that the beast has been featured in several movies such as the 2005 horror film titled "The Beast of Bray Road." And, Danielle unravels the shocking rise and fall of Belle Gibson, an Australian wellness influencer who built an empire on lies. Gibson captivated thousands with her inspiring story—claiming she had survived terminal brain cancer through natural remedies and clean eating. Her brand, The Whole Pantry, led to book deals, a successful app, and partnerships with tech giants. But behind the scenes, something wasn’t right. Investigations revealed there was no medical evidence she had ever been diagnosed with cancer. Worse still, she had promised to donate proceeds to charity—funds that never materialized. In 2017, she was fined for misleading and deceptive conduct, yet she remains defiant, refusing to pay the fines and showing little remorse. Episode 115. The Unsolved Death of Hollywood Legend Natalie Wood and the Myth of Sally Carter
In this episode, we delve into one of Hollywood’s most perplexing and haunting unsolved mysteries—the death of actress Natalie Wood. On November 29, 1981, Wood was found dead, floating in the waters off Catalina Island, after a night spent aboard the yacht of her husband, actor Robert Wagner. The initial verdict was accidental drowning, but the circumstances surrounding her death have raised more questions than answers. Why was she found alone, far from the boat, in the cold waters? What role did Wagner and fellow actor Christopher Walken, who was also on the yacht that night, play in the events leading up to her tragic end? We explore the conflicting statements, the inconsistencies in the investigation, and the new revelations that came to light decades after her death. Was it a tragic accident, a case of foul play, or something more sinister? Join us as we revisit the case, uncover shocking twists, and attempt to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of one of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Later, Sandra talks about the story of the Myth of Sally Carter. The story goes that a young girl died in 1837 at the age of sixteen due to an illness and was buried in Huntsville Alabama. The story continues that after she died people would see her in the cemetery near her grave. Due to the stories the grave was eventually moved and the location is guarded and tourists cannot visit. Although there is a thread on Reddit that argues that Sally did not exist, many locals believe that she did exist and information is hard to find because the family is tired of the vandalism that would occur on Sally's grave. Episode 112. Vampires and the Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe
In this episode, we have a spooktacular bundle. From Vampires, a classic and beloved monster to the man of mystery himself, Edgar Allan Poe. In this week's episode Sandra talks about the history of vampires. Today's culture knows vampires from franchises like Twilight or old stories like Dracula. However the idea of vampires has been around for hundreds of years. Vampires have been featured in cultures all over the world, although the most common type of vampire is the vampire featured in the Eastern European world. Then, Danielle discusses Edgar Allan Poe's mysterious death. Poe was in the midst of a tour to gain money for a literary magazine publication. While in Baltimore he was found lying in a gutter in a semi-conscious and delirious state. Poe was found wearing ill-fitting clothes and wasn't able to explain what happened to him. He was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment but died days later. Many people who are Poe followers aka Poe-heads disagree about the cause of Poe's death. Many theories have circulated from, the impacts of alcoholism to Poe getting drugged and abused in an illegal voting scheme. At the time of his death, Poe was a well-known figure in literary circles and beyond which could have made him vulnerable to different schemes or attacks. How did this dark gothic novelist honed with creating the detective genre come to his untimely demise? And did the name Reynolds which he uttered shortly before his death have any meaning? Episode 111. Survivor, Susan Kuhnhausen and Witchy Familiars
Happy Halloween!! 🎃 This week Danielle covers the story of a survivor, Susan Kuhnhausen. An ER nurse who had to fend herself off of a killer hired by her husband. She arrived home after a long day of work to find the curtains she usually opened every morning drawn. Finding this odd, but not a cause for concern she proceeded toward her bedroom. At that point, she came face to face with an unknown man. Susan viciously fought her attacker when the odds were not in her favor. Susan not only survived a savage attack in her home but is now an advocate for domestic abuse survivors. Then, Sandra talks about familiars. Familiars were believed to be supernatural entities or spiritual guardians that would assist or protect witches. They would take the forms of cats, dogs, frogs or other animals. Some believed that they were good, others believed that they may be connected to the devil. Episode 107. The Radium Girls and the Sallie House
Hello! In this episode, Danielle discusses the Radium Girls. We go back to the 1920s in the United States. The world is reeling from World War I jobs are a hot commodity and factory jobs are more important than ever. Radium, a chemical recently discovered by Marie Curie was considered a miracle cure to aid in cancer treatment. In addition, radium was also used in household products like toothpaste, clock faces, and watch dials. So when jobs in radium factories boomed women jumped at the chance to earn a steady income. Young women in particular were needed in factories to paint watch faces using radium. Radium was used because the chemical properties made anything it came in contact with glow. This includes the numbers on the watch faces, but it also left a powdery residue on the girls' hair and clothes. They were unaware of any potential negative health effects combined with their employers' complete dispellment of radium being harmful. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and quickly women started getting sicker and sicker. Find out what happens to the radium girls. Then, Sandra talks about the Sallie house located in Atchinson Kansas. Known as the most haunted house in the United States, the Sallie house was built at the turn of the century and housed a doctor who lived in Atchinson. Today it is not inhabited by anyone but guests can visit during the day and can stay the night. Due to it;s violent history to stay or even visit the house guests need to sign a waiver. The hauntings include electric batteries draining, moving objects, and even unexplained scratches and bruises appearing during and after guests' visits. The house has also been featured on popular networks such as SYFY, The Discovery Channel, and the Travel Channel. Episode 106. Hellfire Caves and Chappaquiddick Part Two
We are back! In this week's episode, Sandra talks about the famous Hellfire Caves also known as the West Wycombe Caves located in High Wycombe in England. It is believed that the caves were first excavated between 1748 and 1752 and have been a tourist attraction since the reopening in 1951. Today the caves are most known for possibly hosting members of the Hellfire Club. Some members include John Wilkes, John Montagu the 4th Earl of Sandwich and possibly even Benjamin Franklin. Today when people visit the caves they may also encounter several spirits. Then Danielle covers part two of the Chappaquiddick incident, revealing more details about Mary Jo Kopechne's background and Ted Kennedy's sketchy reasoning. Episode. 105 Chappaquiddick Part One and a Glitch in the Matrix
In this episode, Danielle covers a classic crime cover-up, Chappaquiddick. In July, 1969 Ted Kennedy, the youngest of the Kennedy clan was involved with a mysterious and still questioned car accident on the island of Chappaquiddick, a small island off of Martha's Vineyard. The audio for this part is slightly wonky, I blame the Kennedy curse. Stay tuned for Part Two! Then, Sandra talks about three different Reddit stories that talk about a glitch in the matrix. The phrase "glitch in the matrix" is defined as an extremely bizarre event that seems to be only explainable by a glitch in the fabric of reality. All three of these stories discuss events that happened and cannot be explained. From a random house appearing out of nowhere to an entire town appearing out of nowhere. Hear about the murky and odd circumstances surrounding the newlyweds. Then, Sandra talks about the famous Dublin castle located in Dublin Ireland. The castle was first founded back in 1204 as a major defensive work by Meiler Fitzhenry on the orders of King John of England. Throughout history, the castle has changed hands many times over and today it is a popular tourist attraction. Episode 103. Whistling Superstition and The Kidnapping of Denise Huskins
In this week's episode, Sandra talks about the superstition of whistling. Although many people today enjoy the act of whistling, in many cultures it is seen as both negative. For instance, in the UK there is a superstitious belief in the "seven whistlers" which are seven mysterious birds or spirits who call out to foretell death. In Native American cultures the act of whistling was believed to have supernatural powers such as to summon spirits or to invoke protection from evil forces. Then, Danielle covers the Kidnapping of Denise Huskins. Denise Huskins' kidnapping was recently discussed in a recent episode of Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy as well as American Nightmare on Netflix. Denise's kidnapping was a unique one not only because she lived to tell her story, but due to the significant public backlash she received. Compared to the novel and film Gone Girl, Denise and her boyfriend, Aaron were accused of fabricating the entire ordeal. But, sometimes life is stranger than fiction. Episode 102. The Unsolved Murders of Barry and Honey Sherman and Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, Illinois
On December 15, 2017, Barry and Honey Sherman were discovered dead, hanging from the railing of their indoor pool. Initially, it was believed to be a murder-suicide, but the circumstances of the death scene raised many concerns for investigators. As the Toronto-based couple was well-known and affluent, many people had a motive to harm Barry. Furthermore, the injuries sustained by both Barry and Honey were unexplainable and pointed towards a murder scene rather than a suicide. Will the killer or killers ever get caught? Then, Sandra talks about the Lincoln Park Zoo located in Chicago Illinois. The zoo opened in 1868 and the first two animal residents were two white swans that the zoo received from New York's Central Park. It turns out that the zoo was actually built on the site of what was formerly known as the Chicago City Cemetery. Due to it being built on a cemetery, the zoo has a few ghostly spirits that also look at the animals. These spirits include apparitions of people dressed in Victorian-styled clothing and there is one particular patron that is most commonly seen in the lion's exhibit. Episode 100. The Tragic Story of Anneliese Michel and Granary Burying Ground in Boston
Woo! Episode 100! Cheers to hundreds more. Imagine us holding flutes filled with champagne. Danielle kicks off this episode on a somber note with the tragic tale of Anneliese Michel. A young woman from a devoutly religious household in Bavaria who underwent 67 exorcisms. She suffered from epilepsy and often experienced hallucinations as well as hearing voices. She became convinced she was possessed and had to convince a priest to agree to conduct the exorcisms. Her family willingly supported this plan, but unfortunately, this led to her swift demise. The story of Anneliese Michel was the inspiration for the film, The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Later, Sandra talks about one of her favorite places in Boston: the Granary Burying Ground in Boston. The Granary Burying Ground is located on Tremont Street near the Park Street station and the Boston Common. It was founded in 1660 and today is known for having very famous people buried such as Paul Revere and Sam Adams. There is also one local spirit that still roams the grounds. Episode 99. The Haunting of St. Augustine Lighthouse, FL and the Disappearance of Natalee Holloway Part 2
In this week's episode, Sandra talks about the St. Augustine Lighthouse located in St. Augustine Florida. The lighthouse was built between 1871 and 1874. Today it is open to the public and has several non-profits connected to the lighthouse. It is said that the lighthouse itself is haunted by several spirits, including a group of three sisters known as the Pittee girls and a spirit known as "The Man." Supposedly sightings of the Pittee girls date back to the 1960's. The lighthouse has also been host to several tv series including Ghost Hunters and The Most Terrifying Places in America. Then, Danielle wraps up the 2nd part of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Find out how truly sketchy of a character Joran van der Sloot is by his lack of empathy and misdirected anger. Episode 98. The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway and The Legend of Spirit Lake
In this episode, Danielle covers part one of Natalee Holloway disappearance. A case largely covered by the media almost immediately after Natalee, an American senior in high school vanished while on a school trip in Aruba. Various suspects were questioned and arrested, but one always stood out; Joran van der Sloot. He was considered a suspect from the beginning and acted suspiciously throughout his many interviews. Stay tuned for part two! Then, Sandra talks about the Legend of Spirit Lake located in Kootenai County, Idaho. Although the town is small with only a little over 1900 people living there according to the 2010 census, the town is known for one particular legend that involves the lake. Legend has it that the lake is haunted by a young Native American couple who ran away from the tribe and jumped into the lake. Episode 97. Palmer House Hotel and the Iceman
In this week's episode Sandra talks about one of the most haunted hotels in Minnesota located in Sauk Center. The hotel was built in 1901 and then shortly after burned down, it celebrated its 120 year anniversary in 2020. Today the hotel welcomes guests to a fun downtown area with a bar and some uninvited guests. For years people have reported having strange experiences and the hotel has been featured on popular shows such as Ghost Adventures and the Dead Files. Then, Danielles talks about the notorious Iceman, aka Richard Kuklinski. A for-hire hitman who worked his way up to work for multiple Italian mafia families. His preferred method involved freezing his victims' bodies. He also frequently changed his choice of weapon which made it difficult for police to catch him. Episode 96. The Disappearance of Patrick McDermott and Mystery Hill
In this episode, Danielle talks about the disappearance of Patrick McDermott. A cameraman in Hollywood who had a long on-and-off relationship with Olivia Newton-John. He would frequently go on solo fishing trips, so it didn't seem unusual when he left one another trip. That is until he didn't attend a family party the following week and his loved ones grew concerned. What happened to Patrick McDermott? Was something nefarious afoot or did he plan an elaborate disappearance as a way to start a new life? Later, Sandra talks about the Mystery Hill aka America's Stonehenge located in Salem, NH. Roughly about thirty acres, the Mystery Hill offers a different perspective of Salem, NH. The Mystery Hill is rumored to have been formed between 7.000 years ago and as recent as 200 years ago. There are many different theories on why it was created and suggest that it is man-made, but the most recent theory is that it was built by Native Americans. Today guests who visit can participate in hiking, snowshoeing, and visiting an alpaca farm nearby. Episode 94. The Mercer-Williams House and the Martha Washington School for Girls
After going to Savannah recently for a wedding Danielle was inspired to choose a crime based in Savannah. The Mercer-Williams house is well known for a murder that took place in 1981. Eccentric, antique collector, Jim Williams called the police after he shot his assistant and lover, Danny Hansford. They were known for their fiery and tumultuous relationship. Jim was eventually found not-guilty, but Savannah residents are still undecided on whether Jim is a cold-blooded killer or an eccentric partier. In this week's episode, Sandra talks about the Martha Washington School for Girls. The school originally provided resident supervision for delinquent girls first on Queen Anne Hill and then on Mercer island. The school then moved back to Seattle in 1914. The school was originally owned by Juvenile Court Judge Everett T. Smith from 1862 to 1933. The state of Washington then assumed control in 19578 until the school closed in 1971. The site is now the Martha Washington Park. Since its closure, the area where the school was located has shown some paranormal activity. This activity includes hearing disembodied voices and seeing the ghost of a young girl. Episode 93. McKamey Manor and Gypsy Rose & Dee Dee Blanchard
This week Sandra talks about the Mckamey Manor located in Summertown TN. Mckamey Manor has been around for a few years now and although it is known as a haunted house, the truth is it is nothing like today's standard haunted houses. Instead of a house filled with ghouls and ghosts, this house is filled with terror tailored to its visitors. The created Russ Mckamey started the attraction as a mom-and-pop type house in the mid 2000's has now turned into a place where the terror is real. Then, Danielle discusses the tumultuous and toxic relationship of Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee Blanchard. As seen in the Hulu show, The Act starring Joey King and Patricia Arquette. Dee Dee had everyone convinced that her daughter, Gypsy Rose was suffering from many health issues including leukemia and muscular dystrophy. She was also restricted to using a wheelchair and used feeding tubes to eat. But, these were all lies and Gypsy Rose was actually healthy and simply a pawn in her mother's web of nefarious lies. As Gypsy Rose grew older she sought independence from her mother in the only way she thought possible... Ep. 83 Why Do Witches Ride Brooms and the Ruby Ridge Shoot Out
In this week's episode, Sandra answers the question: Why do witches ride brooms? It turns out that the history of the witch's broom started back in 1453 when Guillaume Edelin who was a priest from Saint-Germain-en- Laye near Paris confessed to riding a broom. There are those that believe that the witch's broom is also connected to pagan fertility rituals, and because women would use brooms to signal to others that they were away from their homes. They would either place them in the fireplace or outside their door. Regardless of how the idea started, it is no secret that today when you ask someone to think of an image of a witch, they almost always have a broom. Then, Danielle discusses Ruby Ridge. A shooting in Idaho between the U.S. Federal government and the Weaver family resulted in several deaths considered unnecessary.
