When we resist what is happening, we can go into patterns of denial, repression, or unconscious reaction. This podcast, based on The Sedona Method (Sedona.com), is a series of short mediations exploring some of the most commonly wish-to-be-avoided thoughts and feelings. By bringing attention, curiosity, and even acceptance to what is already happening, we can begin to become the peace we seek. For more resources, find us at WelcomingWay.com

Get Focused Before A Meeting (Exploration)

Two Ways this Recording Can be used: 1. For high-functioning teams, play this recording at the beginning of a meeting for everyone to listen at once. 2. All participants are coming from somewhere else and have been focusing on something else. Taking a few minutes to consciously shift focus can make the meeting more productive and better use of everyone's time. This is the "Get Focused" track from the "Welcoming Way Meeting Series: Helping to Create Meetings that People Actually Want to Go To"

The sense that "There is a Problem" (Story)

Last week I asked my team if there was a way I could help improve "The Welcoming Way." My cofounder, Sharon, asked me THE BEST question in return: "Is there a feeling behind your question?' When I checked, I found that she was right. My question wasn't coming from curiosity or inspiration, it was coming from the agitation of an unfelt feeling. In this episode, I share a one of the most common overlooked beliefs... This episode brought to you by Leah Pearlman at the Welcoming Way.

EP 6: Tasks Mean "I Matter" (Podcast)

On the morning of this recording, I woke up with the thought "I have too much to do!" And then I thought, "I don't like that thought or how it makes me feel." So I got curious. In this episode I explore what seems to be keeping that thought in place, and how I might use a different thought to get the relief I actaully have been seeking from having TOO MUCH TO DO! In this episode I reference: - Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm () - Existential Kink - Previous Podcast Episode: EP 5: Too Much To Do and Not Enough Time (Podcast) This Episode features Leah Pearlman from the Welcomingway.com.

EP 5: Too Much To Do and Not Enough Time (Podcast)

This episode explores the energetic pleasure of living in a high stress state. Wait, did she just say "pleasure?" Yup! Sure did. Inspired by one of our community members, I recently took a personal deep dive into feelings generated by these stressful thoughts: "Too much to do!" and "Not enough time!" What I found was surprisingly...thrilling! This episode is inspired by the work of Carolynn Elliott PhD and her book "Existential Kink" This Episode features Leah Pearlman from the Welcomingway.com.

    Welcoming Anxiety

Those of us who frequently feel anxious, really wish we didn't. And when anxiety arises, we WISH it would go away. Of course we do. Unfortunately resistance of anxiety doesn't usually help because it's kind of like layering tension on top of tension. This, in and of itself isn't wrong, and we can't really avoid it; If we want it to go away, we just DO and there's nothing we can do about that. So in this exploration we experiment how to allow anxiety to be here, as best we can, as well as our resistance to it, while also expanding our awareness to the space in which no anxiety exists. By broadening our focus the anxiety is more free to relax on its own. This episode brought to you by Leah Pearlman at the Welcoming Way.

What If Fear Isn't A Problem?

Most of us don't love the feeling of being afraid. For one thing, it can be pretty uncomfortable. For another, we often have many beliefs about risk of feeling fear: it will limit our lives, or it will consume us. As a result we often resist fear when it arrises, trying to rise above it, talk ourselves out of it, or move faster to get passed it. But this resistance or "fear of fear itself" has its own energetic cost. In this exploration, we make our lives a little easier by making space for fear when it arises. This episode brought to you by Leah Pearlman at the Welcoming Way.

    Celebrating Frustration

"Frustration" often gets a bad rap. But what if it isn't a problem? What if it's an appropriate reaction to some circumstances and deserves it's own life. Here we explore the feeling of frustration: where it comes from, what it means, and how to be with it. This episode brought to you by Leah Pearlman at the Welcoming Way.

In this episode, we explore the nature of thought and how setting our thoughts free to be what they are can leave us greater peace. Podcast Episode 3 Integrity Is An Inside Job (Podcast)

I used to believe "Living in Integrity" meant a person's thoughts, words, and actions all line up. I used to imagine if I practiced enough, I'd acheive some nirvana where I float through the world in easy harmony and moral perfection. Yet no matter how hard I've tried to "live in Integrity" I always find myself with room-to-improve. Recently, I've been exploring a new definition of Integrity; one that leaves me feeling whole, heard, and loved (by my own self). In this episode, I offer this alternate interpretation. Having What You Want

Most of think we'll be better off when we get what we think we want. But better off how? Usually what we REALLY want is to feel a certain way, and we've believed we can't feel that way until our life changes. For example, maybe you're waiting for a partner to feel loved, a job to feel successful, or wealth to feel safe. Maybe you're waiting to be accomplished to feel proud, or out-going to feel connected. What if you could have what you want, what you really want, now? This exploration helps you begin to practice new feelings now, while also making space for the resistance that reliably comes up in the face of change. Open to the possibility that you are just a few minutes away from feeling more ease. This Exploration is brought to you by Sharon Cavanaugh at Welcomingway.com.
