129 | Can't Talk to Your Mom About Anxiety? Ask This {IN THE CAR WITH MOM}
This one is for both of you. Put it on speaker. There is a conversation you two have been circling for months. Both of you know it is sitting there. Neither one of you opens it. So you get the forty minute drive and about ninety seconds of real information, and everybody keeps breathing. Here is what is actually happening. One of you is scared of being a disappointment. The other one is scared of not knowing how to help. Same fear, two different outfits. And “fine” is a relief for both of you, which is exactly why it keeps working. So today we are facing the elephant in the room. Or the car. Or wherever y’all are listening from. This is a short one, but I am going to give each of you one question and make you actually answer it out loud, right there, to each other. Not tonight. Now. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why “how was your day” gets you “fine” every single time, and what to ask instead The one question your daughter is scared to ask you, and why counting to ten before you answer it changes everything The one question you are scared to answer, and why “I don’t know” isn’t the truth The three rules that keep this from turning into a fight in a moving vehicle: no fixing, no defending, no “but” Why being quiet was never a verdict on your parenting, and what to do with what she tells you Your one thing this week: Mom, next time you see it on her face, do the specific thing she named in the car. Do not improve it, do not add to it, just do it. Doll, tell her one thing you were going to round down. Just one. Friday - doll, that one is yours. We are getting into the stressed out feeling you cannot explain, where somebody asks what is wrong and you have got nothing. There is pressure on you nobody else can see, and I am going to help you name it. xo, Kristen Follow the show wherever you are listening. 128 | Intrusive Thoughts in Christian Teen Girls: How to Fight Back {TEENS}
That thought that just showed up out of nowhere? The one that said your friend group only tolerates you, or that you always come in second because somebody is always smarter, more talented, more athletic? You didn’t choose to think that. It landed on you. Here’s what I need you to know first: a thought showing up in your head is not proof that something is wrong with you, and it is not your fault. In this episode we talk about what an intrusive thought actually is, why I believe the Enemy uses them on purpose to keep you stuck in your own head, and the three step tool that lets you fight back with something better than positive thinking. We’re sitting in 2 Corinthians 10:5, and I’m going to show you why “take every thought captive” is the most practical verse in your Bible. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: What an intrusive thought actually is, in plain terms, and what it isn’t Why a thought that feels true is not the same thing as a thought that is true The CCS tool: catch it, call it, swap it, in about three seconds Why arguing with the thought never works, and replacing it does Why these hit hardest when you’re tired, and why that is not a flaw in you This week, your one brave thing: the next time one of those thoughts lands, don’t debate it. Run CCS on it one time. Catch it, that was a thought. Call it, that’s not a fact. Swap it, here’s what’s actually true. Just once, and notice what happens when you stop treating that thing like information. On Friday we’re getting in the car, and it’s one for you and your mom to listen to together. 127 | You Can’t Think Your Way Out of Anxiety. Try This 90-Second Reset Instead! {TEENS}
You cannot think your way out of anxiety. If you've ever sat in a desk before a test, running “you studied, you are fine, it is just a test” on a loop and feeling worse every single lap, this one is for you. I was the girl whose stomach rolled before state testing. Not nervous. Physically ill, on the verge of throwing up, praying nobody looked over. And I was trying so hard to reason my way to calm. It never worked, not one time, because the brain is the thing that is spinning. Asking it to fix itself is like asking the fire to put out the fire. What I didn't have at fifteen was something simple to actually do. Today I'm giving you the whole framework I teach my clients, all five steps of the PEACE Plan, start to finish, nothing held back. Five steps. Ninety seconds. Something you can run between classes, before the test, or standing in a bathroom stall. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why trying to reason with anxiety makes it louder instead of quieter All five steps of the PEACE Plan, walked in order What you are actually afraid of before a test, and it is not the questions How to pray the real thing instead of the polite version Why peace is not a feeling you wait for Your one step this week: Do not wait until you are falling apart to try it. Run the five steps once tonight while you are calm, so your body already knows them when you actually need them. Coming Friday: Intrusive thoughts, and why having them does not mean something is wrong with you. xo, Kristen Follow the show so it shows up for you every week. 126 | Why Doesn't Peace in the Bible Feel Like Peace to You? {TEENS}
When's the last time you actually felt peaceful? Not distracted, not tired into numbness, but peaceful? If you're anything like I was at your age, that answer might be "I don't really know." Somewhere along the way, most of us got taught that peace is something you get to after you've done enough, after the grade's good, after the group chat feels safe again, after the outfit's right. So we keep proving, and peace stays three steps ahead like it's always about to arrive. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why peace keeps feeling out of reach no matter how much you get done The lie that says "I'll feel okay once ___" and why the blank never gets filled What Matthew 11:28-30 actually says about rest, not reward Why God's peace is soul-deep, not just relief for the moment The one shift that moves you from proving to receiving This week's one step: The next time you catch yourself thinking "I'll feel okay once ___," stop and finish that sentence out loud. Then hand it to God instead. Tuesday, we go deeper: the full PEACE Plan framework, how to get out of your head in under five minutes, wherever you are. xo, Kristen 🎧 If this met you where you are, follow the show so the next one finds you too. 125 | How a Teen Can Talk to Her Mom About Anxiety Without Faking It {IN THE CAR WITH MOM}
What if you are both trying to prove something to each other? If there are two of you in that car right now, you are probably both performing. Mom is working hard to look like she has the answers. Daughter is working just as hard to look like she is fine. And you are sitting three feet apart, burning yourselves out trying to be okay in front of each other. Here is the part that gets me: all that proving is not doing the actual thing. Nobody is getting the support she needs. Nobody is learning the skills she is missing. It is just two tired people managing an image. In this episode I am giving you one tool, and it is the same tool for both of you. It is called Pause the Proving, and there is a spot in the middle where I am going to ask you to hit pause and actually say something out loud to each other. In the car. Yes, really. And before anybody gets defensive, I will tell you about the time I completely missed panic attacks in my own kid, while working as a school counselor who spots anxiety in teen girls for a living. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why moms and daughters both end up performing, and how it quietly raises anxiety instead of lowering it The one fear underneath both sides of the car (it is the same fear wearing different clothes) The Pause the Proving tool, with a specific move for mom and a specific move for daughter Why “I do not have all the answers” makes you stronger in her eyes, not weaker What honest vulnerability actually looks like for a teen girl (hint: it is one sentence, not a breakdown) Your one step this week: One true sentence. That is it. One of you says one honest thing to the other one before Friday. It can be at the kitchen counter with your back turned, loading the dishwasher. That counts. Coming up Friday: We are talking about what peace in the Bible actually is, and why it is not a feeling you sit around waiting for. Perfect timing now that the school year shine has worn off. xo, Kristen Follow or subscribe wherever you listen so you never miss an episode. LET’S CONNECT! 124 | Anxiety Coping Skills Wore Off by Second Period? Here's Why {TEENS}
Somebody told you to breathe. Maybe it was me. And you tried it, right there in second period, four counts in and four counts out, and your chest was still tight and your face was still hot and nothing happened. So you closed the app. You stopped reaching for it. And somewhere in the back of your head you decided it doesn't work on you. That's not what happened, doll. The anxiety coping skills you've been handed are good ones. But nobody sat you down and told you the part that actually matters: a coping skill has a window. There's a moment where it works, and there's a moment where you're too far past it. And if nobody teaches you the difference, it's going to feel like you're the thing that's broken. In this episode I'm telling you about ninth grade, my favorite red, white and blue checked pants, and the day I hid in a bathroom because the breathing didn't save me. Then I walked back into class and pulled out my geometry book, because nobody questions a girl hunched over geometry. We're covering the three real reasons the tools wore off, and the one thing running underneath all three that nobody talks about. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why one attempt at a coping skill was never a fair test of whether it works The difference between doing the thing and actually doing the thing, and why half-hearted breathing never had a chance Why a calm body plus the same old lie is exactly why your peace wears off by second period The timing piece nobody teaches you, and why you keep reaching for the tool too late How to pair a coping skill with truth so it holds longer than a hallway Your one step this week: Catch your four. One time this week, before anything is wrong, notice what a four feels like in your body. Your shoulders, your jaw, your stomach, the rereading. Find your tell. You can't reach for a tool at a four if you've never once noticed what a four feels like. Coming up Tuesday: an In the Car episode for you and your mom, about what happens when you're both sitting there trying to prove something to each other. She's proving she's got it handled. You're proving you're fine. And neither one of you is saying the actual thing. xo, Kristen 🎧 Follow the show so you don't miss Tuesday, and if you know a girl who's decided the coping skills don't work on her, send her this one. 123 | How to Get Over a Breakup & Feel Like Yourself Again {TEENS}
Hey doll, this one came from you. One of you asked for this exact episode, so if that’s you, I hope you feel how much I mean it when I say I see you. 🫶🏻 Because right now you might be lying awake replaying the hallway, a text, a look on his face, wondering what you could’ve done differently. Or you’re doing your hair and makeup for school, not because you feel like it, but because some part of you is trying to prove something to someone who’s not even watching anymore. I’ve been there. Not in theory. In the actual crying yourself to sleep, forcing yourself to get ready anyway kind of there. So today we’re talking about how to actually get over a breakup and feel like yourself again, not fake fine, not just distract and hope, actually feel like you. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why a breakup can hit way harder than people expect, and what your brain is actually doing about it - What grief for a relationship can honestly look like (it’s not a straight line) - A tool to set a real, visible deadline for the wallowing, without rushing the grief itself - Why rebuilding through hobbies and new things matters more than you think, especially right now - How to lean on your people without needing them to hold the whole thing together This week, your one step: pull out your calendar today and pick your date. Circle it, highlight it, bold it, whatever makes it impossible to ignore. That’s not a deadline on your grief, it’s a deadline on the wallowing. Friday we’re getting into why the coping skills you’ve already tried keep falling apart the second you actually need them, so don’t miss that one. love ya mean it, Kristen 🎧 If this one helped, follow the show so the next episode finds you too. 122 | Your Teenage Daughter Looks Fine. She's Not. {MOMS}
Hey mama. If it's late and you're up searching for this, you are not failing her. You're paying attention, and that's everything. How do you know if what you're seeing is normal teen stuff or something more? That's the question underneath this episode. Because so many of the girls who are struggling the most are also the ones who look, from the outside, like they've got it all together. In this episode, we talk about why her hiding isn't dishonesty, it's fear of disappointing you. We unpack the three pulls she's juggling at once (you, her peers, and her faith), and why "I'm fine" so often means she wants to be seen, not fixed. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the quiet, high-achieving daughter can be the one struggling most The real reason she hides what she's feeling from you (hint: it's not dishonesty) The three pressures she's balancing at once, and why that's exhausting What "I'm fine" actually means when her smile doesn't reach her eyes One simple shift in how you respond that can open the door back up This week, try this: the next time she says "I'm fine" and you're not so sure, just say, "Okay. I'm here whenever you're ready." Then let the silence be okay. 121 | Perfectionism Isn't Real: You're Scared You're Not Enough {TEENS}
Hey doll, be honest with yourself for a second. Have you ever built a whole color-coded timeline for one test? Studied for hours after you already knew the material cold? Talked your mom into quizzing you one more time before bed, then still couldn't sleep because there was "just a little more" to cram in? If any of that sounds familiar, I need you to hear this: that's not dedication. That's anxiety wearing a really convincing outfit. In this episode, I'm walking you through why perfectionism isn't actually a personality trait, it's fear doing math, where anything less than 100% gets filed as total failure. We're talking about the straight A's that never quite feel like enough, the bubble guts before a test gets handed back, and what's really going on underneath all that overplanning. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why perfectionism is anxiety, not a personality trait or high standards The "100% or failure" math that's driving the pressure you feel Why the proof never actually lands, even when you make the grade What overplanning is really doing for you (hint: it's not studying) Where your worth actually comes from, and why no grade gets a vote This week, your one step: the next time you catch yourself overplanning something that's already handled, stop and ask, "Am I preparing, or am I just trying to outrun a feeling?" And come back Friday, because we're talking to the moms about this exact thing, the girls who look like they have it all together, and what's actually going on underneath. xo, Kristen 🎧 Loving the podcast? 120 | When Your Teen Daughter Says 'I'm Fine': How to Talk About Anxiety Symptoms Together {IN THE CAR WITH MOM}
She said "I'm fine." You don't believe her. She's not sure she believes herself. I was that girl in the passenger seat. On the way to a basketball game, stomach churning, so tense I thought I might be sick. My mom, who loved me, gave me a pep talk. I didn't say a word back. I shut down and looked out the window the whole rest of the way. She wasn't wrong to try. It just wasn't what I needed. I didn't need to be motivated. I needed somebody to listen. This one's for both of you at the same time, mom and daughter, right there in the car. Because the problem is almost never that she won't talk. It's when you're asking, how you're sitting, and what words you're using. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What "I'm fine" actually means, and why it's usually not a lie Why the moment you most want to ask is the worst possible time to ask The reason hard conversations go better in the car than across the kitchen table Why using her slang closes the door instead of opening it What a girl needs before she needs advice Your one step this week: Mom, take one drive and don't ask her anything. Not one question. Her music, eyes on the road, let the quiet sit. Baby sis, one time this week, swap "I'm fine" for "I don't know how to say it yet." Tuesday, we're talking about the girl who calls herself a perfectionist. High standards, likes things done right. Except she can't turn it off and she's exhausted, and what she's calling a personality trait is anxiety in a cute outfit. xo, Kristen 🎧 Follow the show so the next episode shows up for you. 119 | Back-to-School Anxiety: You're NOT Fine, You're Good At Faking It {TEENS}
Hey doll - be honest for a second. Are you already dreading the first day of school? And are you doing it quietly, where nobody around you would ever guess? I was that girl. Tenth grade, geometry on my schedule, my bestie in a different class, and a zit on my chin I was convinced the entire school was about to notice. And you'd never have known a single bit of it, because I put on a face. I always wore a mask. Here's what kept me stuck the longest: I thought my face was working, and I thought everybody else's face was real. In this episode I'm walking you through two things - why nobody in that building is watching you as closely as you're watching yourself, and what to do with the parts of your schedule that didn't go your way. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the girls who look the most "fine" are often the ones struggling the most What's actually running through your head the morning you walk in looking totally normal Why the girl you're sure has it all together is doing the exact same math about you How to flip the script on the schedule, locker, or lunch period you didn't want The baby steps that absolutely count as brave when you're already managing anxiety This week, pick one baby step for day one. Eye contact. Saying hi first. Answering somebody's question kindly. One - not three. And come back Friday, but bring your mom. We're talking about two words: I'm fine and what you mean when you say them. That one's meant to be listened to together. xo, Kristen 🎧 Loving the podcast? 116 | Friend Group Ghosting You? What Teen Girls Can Do When They're Suddenly the Outsider
You open the group chat and you just know — before anyone says a word — that something's changed. No fight, no explanation. Just quiet, and a lunch table that suddenly feels different. In this episode, we're naming that specific gut-punch of being frozen out by your friend group — and walking through exactly what to do with it, so you can find real peace that isn't hanging on whether you got invited this weekend. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why getting frozen out feels so disorienting — and why your brain treats it like a real threat How silence gets filled in with the worst version of the story (and how to catch it) A simple tool — Real or Likely? — to use the moment the spiral starts Three things to do when you're suddenly on the outside How to let God, not the group chat, define where you belong This week, the next time you catch yourself spiraling on what a friend "really meant," stop and run it through Real or Likely, and see what's actually true. 114 | Peace That Doesn't Make Sense: How Christian Teen Girls Calm Anxiety
Ever been overwhelmed by everything at once — the group chat, the test, the friend who went quiet — and had someone tell you to "just have peace about it"? Like peace is a switch and you're the only one who never found it? In this episode we sit in Philippians 4:6-7 and talk about the kind of peace that doesn't make sense on paper — the calm that shows up while everything is still messy — plus a simple tool to calm the anxiety the second it hits. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why "just calm down" never works when you're overwhelmed Why feeling anxious doesn't mean your faith is weak What Philippians 4:6-7 actually says about peace (hint: it's an invitation, not a scolding) The "Name It and Hand It" tool for the moment the wave hits Why God's peace is a guard, not a mood you have to force This week, your one brave thing: the next time everything feels like too much, don't try to fix it all — name it, and hand it over to God, out loud. You're not a weak Christian for feeling overwhelmed. You're a girl learning to hand it over — and that's strength, not failure. xo, Kristen 🎧 Follow/subscribe so you don't miss a thing. 113 | "What If" to "Even If": Finding Peace from Panic Attacks & People-Pleasing {Guest Ashanti Watson}
Have you ever been the girl who looks totally fine on the outside — smiling, showing up, holding it all together — while inside you're panicking and praying nobody notices? My guest this week, Ashanti Watson, lived exactly that. She was the sunshine in every room while quietly having four and five panic attacks a day, carrying a shame she thought she had to hide. In this episode, Ashanti shares the moment everything shifted — a breakdown in her car that became a turning point — and the simple, powerful tools she used to trade fear-based thinking for faith-based thinking. If your brain runs on "what if," this one's going to feel like a breath of fresh air. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why anxiety can hide behind a smile — and why "just pray about it" leaves so many faith-filled girls feeling ashamed instead of helped How people-pleasing and "good girl syndrome" quietly get fueled by the fear of rejection The "what if" → "even if" reframe (straight out of Daniel 3) that settles anxiety in the moment A simple self-awareness question — "What is good right now?" — to ground yourself when panic rises and you can't even name why What real faith actually looks like (hint: it's not being happy and positive all the time) The line worth framing: "Do your best and let God handle the rest." Take This Into Your Week The next time your mind starts spinning out with "what if she doesn't like me" or "what if it all goes wrong," try catching that thought and swapping in "even if." Even if it doesn't work out, God's got another plan. Even if it's hard, you're still going to be okay. You don't have to control the outcome — that part was never yours to carry. Do your best, and let God handle the rest. xo, Kristen 🎧 If this episode spoke to you, follow the show so you never miss one, and share it with a friend who needs to hear it. 112 | You're Not Your Feed — 4 Tools to Ditch Social Media Anxiety & Feel Confident
Hey doll — last episode I told you that you'll never find your self-esteem on social media, and so many of you wrote back with the same question: "Okay, but I can't delete my whole life. So now what?" This episode is the "now what." I'm not here to tell you to throw your phone in a lake. Social media is a tool — the problem is when you get wrapped up inside it and who you are online starts deciding how you feel all day. So today I'm giving you four practical, faith-based tools to ditch social media anxiety, unwrap your identity from the feed, and feel confident in your own skin again. Because you're not your feed. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why social media anxiety hits teen girls especially hard — and why that's development, not weakness The "Posting Pause" — one question to ask before you post so you're not fishing for proof you're okay How to pair it with the "Scroll Check" for going in and coming out of the feed Three ways to unwrap your identity from social media: guardrails, curating your feed, and anchoring who you are off the screen Where real, unshakeable confidence comes from — and why no algorithm gets a vote This week, pick just one small step: set one guardrail, or unfollow one account that steals your peace. Just one — that's how this starts. You don't have to quit social media to feel peaceful in your own skin; you just have to stop letting it be the mirror. xo, Kristen 🎧 Loving the podcast? 111 | 3 Reasons Social Media Fuels Your Anxiety & Steals Your Self-Esteem
Hey doll — be honest with yourself for a sec. How many times today did you open an app, start scrolling, and somehow end up feeling smaller? Like everybody else has it figured out and you're the only one who doesn't? If you've been quietly using social media to feel better about yourself, I have to tell you gently: you're never going to find your self-esteem there. It's not there. It never was. But that's actually good news. In this episode I'm walking you through three real reasons scrolling fuels your anxiety and steals your self-esteem — and where that steady, God-given confidence actually comes from. Because your worth was settled long before your first post. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why social media can never give you the self-esteem you're aching for The "Scroll Check" — one question that breaks the comparison spiral in the moment How chasing likes and followers quietly fuels anxiety instead of easing it Why thousands of followers can still leave you feeling like the loneliest girl at school Where your real, unshakeable worth comes from — and why no algorithm gets a vote This week, do the Scroll Check: every time your phone leaves you feeling smaller, ask, "Real life, or highlight reel?" and let that put your feet back on solid ground. And come back Friday — we're talking about how to manage the anxiety social media stirs up and how to unwrap your identity from it. xo, Kristen 🎧 Loving the podcast? 110 | Social Anxiety Is Lying to You About Who to Trust
Here's the thing about social anxiety — it doesn't stay in the hallway at school. You know that feeling, right? Like everyone's eyes are on you, and your brain's already running through every way you could mess this up? That feeling doesn't clock out when the bell rings. It follows you home. It follows you straight into your closest friendships — the ones that actually matter — and has you replaying a text for the hundredth time, wondering if she's mad at you. And here's what's so sneaky about it: social anxiety doesn't just make you doubt yourself. It makes you doubt the people who are actually safe — the ones who really do have your back. So today, I'm giving you 3 clear signs — no guessing, no overthinking — that tell you exactly who you can actually trust. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why social anxiety doesn't just make you doubt yourself — it makes you doubt the people who are actually safe The real reason your mind won't stop replaying that text (and how to bring yourself back to the present) A simple pros-and-cons tool to check anxious thoughts against what you actually know to be true The 3 signs that tell you exactly who you can trust — Active Support, Honesty, and Mutual Respect Why trusting your gut again is the first step back to real peace Here's what I want you to do this week: think of one friend, just one, and run her through these three signs. Not to go looking for reasons to cut her off — but to actually see her clearly, instead of through the fog of lies your anxiety's been telling you. And girl, that clarity? That's where your peace starts to come back. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! 109 | Why Does Nobody Tell Teen Girls God Leads You Through Anxiety, Not Around It?
Hey doll! I spent last week as a fully unhinged VBS volunteer — and the Ireland theme (sheep, highland cows, Psalm 23) would not let me go. Because I kept thinking about you. Here's something nobody tells teen girls enough: God is not trying to get you around your anxiety. He's not promising to remove the hard stuff before you walk through it. Psalm 23 is actually really clear about this — and once you see it, you can't unsee it. In this episode: Why David wrote Psalm 23 in the middle of danger — and why that changes everything How the enemy really shows up (hint: not with a pitchfork) Why Psalm 23 is a battle plan, not a calm-down script What "He leads" actually requires of you The Shepherd's Pause — a 4-step tool for the next time anxiety hits xo, Kristen Let's connect: Get on the email list: anxiouschristianteen.com/insider Join the free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community Find out what type of anxious teen girl you are: anxiouschristianteen.com/quiz Coaching: anxiouschristianteen.com/coaching

108 | Self-Doubt Is Lying to You — How Teen Girls Can Stop Believing the Worst
Self-doubt is lying to you. And today, I'm going to show you exactly how it does it. You said something in the group chat, walked into a room where everyone seemed to have it together, or typed a text four times before deleting it — and that voice kicked in. Something is wrong with me. I'm so embarrassing. I don't belong here. That voice feels like truth. It sounds like you. But baby sis, it is not. In this episode, we're talking about where self-doubt really comes from, why it's so hard to catch, and one simple question you can ask when the spiral starts. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why self-doubt is a lie — not a personality trait or a diagnosis How Satan uses your own voice to make the lie feel believable The pattern that shows up every single time (hint: it's always right before the brave thing) What Romans 8:1 says about the voice that tears you down One practical question to ask yourself when the self-doubt spiral starts You are not broken. You are not too sensitive. You are a girl with an enemy who knows your weak spots — and a God who already told you the truth about who you are. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! 107 | Obsessing Much? Stop Stressing the Talking Stage as a Teen Girl
If you've ever found yourself rereading his last text for the fourteenth time trying to decode whether "haha" means he's interested or done — this episode is for you. The talking stage is genuinely undefined, unanchored, and anxiety-producing. And when things feel uncertain, overthinking rushes in to fill the gap. Today I'm giving you two practical tools to help you stop the spiral, guard your heart, and stop spending your peace on someone who may not even deserve your attention. What You'll Learn in This Episode: ● Why the talking stage produces so much anxiety (and why you're not overreacting) ● How to build your "My Non-Negotiables" list before feelings take over ● The one thing that tells you more about a guy than anything he ever texts you ● A simple 2-week tool to cut through all the noise ● What the Bible says about guarding your heart in uncertain seasons You don't have to be a detective, doll. 106 | Overthinking Every Text You Send? 3 Ways to Hit Send & Let It Go
If you've ever typed a text, deleted it, retyped it, and then panicked the second you hit send — this episode is for you. I'm sharing three practical strategies to help you stop overthinking every text you send, so you can communicate more honestly with your friends and finally let it go once the message is out. We'll talk about why texting feels so high-stakes when you're already dealing with social anxiety, how to tell the difference between a fact and an assumption when your brain starts spiraling, and why being direct is actually one of the kindest things you can do — for yourself and your friends. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why emotionally charged conversations don't belong in a text thread How to spot the difference between what's real and what your brain is filling in Why vague texting actually creates more anxiety — and what to do instead How Proverbs 17:17, 2 Corinthians 10:5, and Ephesians 4:15 apply to your phone You have more to offer than a perfectly worded text. 104 | Is Your Inner Critic Actually Satan? Here's How to Tell {Guest John Merrill Kirkman}
Ever feel like Jesus is up there keeping score — tallying every mistake, disappointed in you again? That voice you're hearing? It might not be who you think. In this episode, I'm joined by John Merrill Kirkman, host of Walking with the Savior, for a conversation about anxiety, identity, and the sneaky lies that keep so many of us stuck. We talk about why repentance isn't a fire extinguisher for your worst moments — it's a daily shower. We break down "SCAM" (Spiritual Critic And Manipulator) and how to recognize when your own thoughts are actually attacks on your worth. And John shares a simple tool you can use anytime your anxiety starts spiraling — one that takes about 90 seconds and works with your faith, not against it. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why Jesus is your teammate, not your referee How to spot "SCAM" thoughts before they take over A 90-second tool to bring your anxiety down in real time Why repentance isn't about shame — it's about restoring relationship How shifting your focus outward (instead of inward) can quiet anxiety Why you don't have to wait for "your moment" to find purpose You are not too much, and you are not behind. That's insecurity doing its thing. And when insecurity shows up, overthinking usually comes right along for the ride. The good news? You don't have to live there. In this episode, I'm sharing three practical tips you can actually use to stop overthinking your insecurity and start moving through it. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why insecurity isn't a character flaw — and what it actually is How doing the small, scary thing builds real confidence over time The simple physical reset that sends your nervous system a different message Why saying your insecurity out loud to someone safe can shrink it fast How to check your inner circle — and what to do if it's part of the problem How faith and courage work together when insecurity has you feeling stuck You are not broken because you struggle with insecurity or overthinking. 102 | Does the Bible Actually Help with Anxiety or Is That Just Something Adults Say?
Hey doll! Can I ask you something? Have you ever felt anxious and then felt guilty about it — like maybe your anxiety meant your faith wasn't strong enough? Like a good Christian girl shouldn't struggle with this? Let me just tell you: that is not what the Bible says. In this episode, we're digging into what Scripture says about anxiety — and it might surprise you. God didn't just tell us not to worry and move on. He came back to this topic over and over again, which tells me He knows exactly what it feels like to be you. We'll look at what the Bible says, why having anxiety doesn't make you faithless, and walk away with three real, practical things you can start doing this week. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the Bible talks about anxiety so much — and what that tells us about God The truth about anxiety and faith (hint: you can have both) What specific scriptures actually say — in plain language Three practical tools rooted in Scripture for managing anxiety in your everyday life A simple challenge to try this week You are not broken because you struggle with anxiety. 101 | Always Saying the Wrong Thing? Your Communication Style Might Be Why
Hey doll! Have you ever walked away from a conversation thinking why did I say it like that? Or maybe someone took what you said completely wrong — and now there's awkwardness or drama you didn't even start. Ya girl has been there, and I'm here to tell you: it's not always what you're saying. A lot of the time, it's how you're saying it — and you might not even realize there's a pattern. In this episode, we're breaking down the four communication styles and helping you figure out which one you're defaulting to — and more importantly, how to start shifting toward the one that actually gets you heard, keeps your friendships healthy, and helps you stop replaying every conversation before you fall asleep. What You'll Learn in This Episode: The four communication styles and what they actually look like in real life Why the "just stay quiet" approach is still a communication style — and what it's costing you How anxiety shows up in the way you communicate (and why it makes total sense) What it looks like to say what you mean without starting a war Why your communication style might be different with your friends than with your family A simple, practical homework challenge to help you practice this week The way you communicate is a skill — not a personality trait. 100 | "I'm Enough" Is A LIE That's Making Your Anxiety Worse
You've probably said it. Maybe you've even had it said to you at just the right moment when you needed to hear something. "I am enough." It sounds kind. It sounds empowering. But what if it's actually making your anxiety worse? In this episode, I'm sharing what convicted me in Sunday School a few weeks ago — and why "I am enough" is a phrase that, through a Christian lens, is doing more damage than good. We'll talk about the Prove-It Trap, why the harder you pull to get out of it the tighter it gets, and what to say instead that actually sets you free. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why "I am enough" is a lie when viewed through a Christian worldview How believing you're enough on your own merit quietly separates you from God What the Prove-It Trap is and why you're probably already in one Why this trap looks like confidence from the outside — and exhaustion on the inside The simple reframe that repositions your worth from something you create to something you receive You were never meant to hold yourself up. 99 | How to Build Real Friendships When Social Anxiety Makes It Hard {Social Anxiety Series Pt 3/3}
If social anxiety has you convinced you have to feel confident before you can make real friends — this episode is going to flip that on its head. In Part 3 of the Social Anxiety Series, we're getting practical. You'll learn what real friendship actually requires (hint: it's not being perfectly comfortable), how to tell the difference between life-giving and life-draining relationships, and one simple habit that research says is the most reliable way to build connection fast. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why confidence doesn't come before connection — it comes from it What real friendship actually requires (and why social anxiety has been lying to you about your qualifications) How to identify life-giving vs. life-draining friendships using a very biblical concept: discernment The anxiety-driven behaviors that might be accidentally pushing people away What Proverbs 17:17 says about the kind of friend you already have the capacity to be The "Interest Question" habit — the one science-backed move that creates real connection You don't have to wait until the anxiety is gone to start building the friendships you actually want. 98 | Social Anxiety Is Destroying Your Friendships — Here's Proof {Social Anxiety Series Pt 2/3}
Your social anxiety might not just be making you nervous — it could be quietly wrecking your friendships, and the hardest part? It's probably been convincing you that it's keeping you safe. In this episode, we're digging into one of the most consistent themes from our market research: the friendship pain that so many teen girls are carrying. The fake friends, the ghosting, the drama, the exhaustion. But here's what we're going to unpack together — how much of that is anxiety driving the bus without you even knowing it. What You'll Learn in This Episode: How social anxiety shows up specifically in your friendships — and why you might not recognize it The avoidance trap: why the relief you feel when you skip, avoid, or ghost is actually making things worse A compassionate but honest look at the ghosting and "fake friend" cycle — and how anxiety plays a bigger role than you think What 1 John 4:18 actually has to say about the fear underneath your social anxiety A simple, science-backed daily practice called "One Brave Thing" that starts retraining your brain — one small step at a time You are not the problem. But anxiety might be running your friendships — and that's something you can actually change. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! 97 | STOP Calling It Social Anxiety Until You Hear This {Social Anxiety Series Pt 1/3}
Is what you're feeling actually social anxiety — or just normal nervousness? Because there's a real difference, and in this first episode of the Social Anxiety Series, we're cutting through the buzzword fog so you actually know what you're dealing with. Social anxiety is one of the most overused phrases right now, and that's a problem. When everything gets called social anxiety, the girls who are genuinely struggling either get dismissed — or convince themselves it's no big deal because "everyone feels this way." Both are harmful. This episode changes that. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What social anxiety disorder actually is (and what it isn't) The real difference between normal nervousness and social anxiety Why the buzzword culture around social anxiety is making things worse for teen girls What the Bible says about the fear of man — and why it hits different than you'd expect The "Real or Likely?" 94 | Graduation Is Supposed to Be Exciting, So Why Does It Feel Like a Panic Attack?
If graduation 🎓 is coming and you feel more anxious than excited — this episode is for you. We're talking about the real reason graduation triggers anxiety in teen girls: it's not about lacking faith or being ungrateful. It's about your brain losing the familiar structure it's depended on for over a decade — and not knowing what comes next. In this episode, we cover why fear of the unknown is a normal nervous system response, how performance-based identity makes transitions even harder, and how one simple tool — the brain dump — can help you get out of your head and back into peace. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why graduation anxiety is a nervous system response, not a faith failure The fear underneath the fear (it's not really about graduation) How losing familiar structure triggers anxiety, even when you have a plan How performance-based identity makes transitions harder Step-by-step instructions for a brain dump How to use a brain dump as a form of prayer You don't have to have it all figured out to find peace. Peace is something you practice in the unknown — not after it. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! 93 | Sick of that Insecure Feeling? Here's What Actually Builds Real Peace & Confidence
That insecure feeling that follows you everywhere — into the hallway, into your group chat, into your own head at 11pm — is exhausting. And when anxiety is in the mix, it only gets louder. In this episode, we're talking about what insecurity actually is, why your anxious brain turns it into a full-time job, and what genuinely builds the kind of confidence and peace that doesn't depend on everything going right. Spoiler: it's not about finally saying the perfect thing or becoming someone else. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What insecurity really is — and why it's not a faith failure How anxiety and insecurity team up to keep you stuck in an overthinking loop Why the finish line of "good enough" doesn't exist — and what to chase instead What 2 Timothy 1:7 actually means for your confidence One simple practice to interrupt the spiral when it starts You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to start. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! 92 | I Thought Moms Were My Audience — You Proved Me Wrong
Ya girl made a call in April, and it didn't land. So today, I'm doing what I tell teen girls to do all the time — owning it, course-correcting, and moving forward without shame. Here's the truth: I looked at some data back in March and assumed moms were my primary audience. I pivoted the show toward them. Turns out? The majority of you listening are teen girls — and you let me know. I heard you, baby sis. And I'm coming back to you. In this episode, I share what happened, why it matters, and why owning your mistakes without falling apart is one of the most powerful things you can do. What You'll Hear in This Episode: The assumption I made — and why it was wrong What the real data (aka you) told me A genuine apology, no fluff attached Why course-correcting without shame is a skill worth building What this show is really about — and who it's really for If you've ever felt like you don't have a safe adult in your corner, this episode is for you. That's exactly why this show exists. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! 91 | Your Stressed Teen Girl Keeps Withdrawing - Here's What She Wishes She Could Tell You {Pt 4/4}
If you've ever watched your daughter pull away and wondered whether to push, back off, or just wait — this one's for you. In this episode, we're talking about what's actually happening when your stressed teen girl withdraws. Not the behavior you see on the surface, but what's driving it — and why your response matters more than you might realize. We'll break down the anxiety-avoidance loop, what emotional withdrawal actually feels like from Emma's side of the door, and the one tactical shift that can change the dynamic without forcing or enabling. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why avoidance isn't defiance — it's your daughter's brain doing exactly what it was designed to do The difference between behavioral avoidance and emotional withdrawal (and why both matter) Why pushing harder usually backfires — and why doing nothing does too The "stay curious, not corrective" approach and how to use it in real moments What Emma needs to hear from you before she'll ever open up Your daughter's withdrawal is not about you. It's about a nervous system trying to protect her from something that feels bigger than she knows how to handle right now. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! 90 | Her Body Is Telling You Something: Anxiety Symptoms Your Anxious Teen Can't Explain {Pt 3/4}
The doctor said everything was fine. But she's still waking up with stomachaches on school days, still getting headaches before anything high-stakes — and you're starting to wonder what you're missing. You're not missing it. Her body is actually telling you the truth. In this episode, we're talking about the connection between anxiety and physical symptoms in teen girls — why it's real, what it looks like, and what you can do about it. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why anxiety symptoms often show up in the body before they ever show up in words The most common physical signs of anxiety in teen girls — and why they're not manipulation The patterns to watch for (hint: it's not that she has symptoms, it's when) Why "the doctor said you're fine" can actually make anxiety worse One simple, practical phrase to try the next time her body is saying what her words can't Your daughter is not being dramatic. She is not trying to get out of something. Her body is doing exactly what a nervous system under pressure is designed to do — and now you'll know what to do with that. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! 89 | The "What If" Loop Is an Anxiety Symptom — Here's How to Break It {Pt. 2/4}
If your daughter has ever asked the same worried question four times in ten minutes — and your answer didn't help — this episode is for you. In Part 2 of this series, we're getting into what's actually happening in your teen's brain when the what-ifs won't quit. You'll learn why reassurance backfires (yes, really), what persistent worry looks like clinically, and the one practical shift you can make this week that actually helps. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What worry is supposed to do — and when it gets stuck The 4 signs Emma's anxiety has become a pattern, not just a phase Why answering her questions may be making the loop worse What validation actually looks like (and how it's different from reassurance) A simple script to try the next time the what-ifs show up Anxiety symptoms like this aren't a faith problem or a parenting failure. They're a pattern — and patterns can change. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! 88 | Is Your Teen Girl Struggling with Anxiety? 3 Signs to Look For {Pt 1/4}
If you've ever watched your daughter worry, complain of stomachaches, or slowly pull away from things she used to love — this episode is for you. In this kickoff episode of a new series, I'm breaking down three signs that teen girls commonly show when anxiety is at work beneath the surface. These aren't dramatic or obvious — they're the quiet, everyday patterns that are easy to miss or misread. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What persistent worry actually looks like in a teen girl (and how it's different from normal stress) Why physical complaints like stomachaches and headaches are often anxiety in disguise The difference between avoidance and withdrawal — and why both matter Why each of these signs deserves a closer look This is your foundation episode. Over the next three episodes, we're going deep on each sign — what causes it, what it feels like for your daughter, and what you can do. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! 87 | Stop Walking on Eggshells & Talk to Your Anxious Teen Without a Fight
You've rehearsed the conversation five times before she even walks through the door. You choose your words carefully. You stay calm. And still — she shuts down, snaps, or leaves the room. If that's you, this episode is going to change the way you communicate with your anxious teen daughter. In this episode, I'm breaking down why the conversations keep going sideways — and it's probably not the reason you think. It's not a love problem. It's a connection problem. And the good news? It's fixable. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why your teen doesn't feel understood (even when you're trying your hardest) Why comparing your teen experience to hers can unintentionally shut her down How to validate what she's feeling without minimizing it Three practical communication shifts you can use tonight Why where you have the conversation matters as much as how You are not doing this wrong because you don't love her enough. You're here, you're listening, you're trying — and that matters more than you know. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! 86 | Why Telling Your Teen to Stop Is Making Her Anxiety Worse
You've seen it. The nail picking at the dinner table. The cheek biting in the car. Maybe the hair pulling when she thinks no one's watching. And you don't know whether to say something or let it go — because every time you try to address it, something goes sideways. Today we're talking about why teens develop these habits, why your most instinctive responses (even the loving ones) can actually make things worse, and what you can do instead to help your teen daughter feel safe enough to start changing. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs) are and why they're more common in teens than most people realize Why pointing out the habit in the moment can intensify anxiety instead of relieving it How your nonverbal reactions may be communicating more than your words The timing and language that actually opens the door for a real conversation with your teen Simple, research-backed pattern interrupters you can offer Emma — if and when she's ready You don't have to have a perfect response or a perfect plan. What your daughter needs most is to know you're in her corner — without conditions. xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! And now you're stuck between asking questions and giving her space, wondering if this is a big deal or just normal teen stuff. In this episode, we’ll talk about why gossip and drama hits teen girls so much harder than it looks from the outside. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why social rejection registers in the teen brain the same way physical pain does What Emma's silence, irritability, and "I'm fine" are actually telling you Why jumping to solutions often backfires — and what tends to work instead How to tell the difference between a one-time situation and an ongoing pattern worth paying attention to xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything!
