Is Coaching What You Actually Need Right Now?

Send us Fan MailLast week, a woman got on a Clarity Call with me and asked point blank: Can you help me? After listening to her describe her situation — complicated, layered, with several elements that fell well outside the coaching lane — my answer was: Yes... but not yet. Not because I couldn't help her, but because she needed a specific kind of support first, and skipping that step would have meant wasting her time, her money, and her energy on coaching that couldn't land. Referring her to other professionals was the right call. It's also what any coach worth hiring would do.This episode is a guide to making one of the most important — and often midsunderstood — decisions you can make for yourself: whether to hire a coach, what kind of support you actually need, and how to tell the difference between a coach who will change your life and one who will quietly waste your time. You've probably already done the DIY version of whatever you're working on. The books, the podcasts, the advice from friends, the online rabbit holes. And maybe you're still stuck — or you're tired of being stuck alone. That's a common time to seek coaching. But coaching isn't the right next step for everyone, and knowing how to identify what kind of support you actually need could save you thousands of dollars and months of spinning. In this episode, you'll learn:The two clearest signals that it's time to stop going it alone and invest in coaching supportHow to distinguish between coaching and therapy — and why a high-caliber coach will always tell you if you need the latter firstThree questions to ask any coach before you hire them — and the red flags to watch for in their answersWhy the monetary investment in coaching is often the first psychological vote you cast for yourselfHow to calculate what sitting on this decision has already cost you — in time, energy, and indecisionCoaching is not a transaction. It's a transformation. And the right coach, at the right time, for the right reasons, can change everything.Changeology is a podcast about the real, messy, nonlinear process of personal change — hosted by Dr. Meg Trucano, developmental psychologist and life and career change coach.Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

    Never Felt Worse-with Alexa Martinez

Send us Fan MailYou can meditate for hours a day, journal every morning, see the nutritionists, take the supplements, do every single thing "right"— and still feel like absolute garbage. That's where guest Alexa Martinez found herself in 2023: running a successful coaching business, doing all the right things, and feeling worse than she ever had in her life. The problem wasn't her habits. It was that her business had become her God — the sun at the center of her solar system — and everything else, her relationship, her health, her community, her joy, was just orbiting it.Alexa Martinez is a success and leadership coach, host of the Full of Herself podcast, and one of the more genuinely disruptive voices in the conversation around what it actually means to build a successful life as a self-employed woman. Her work is a direct challenge to the metrics-obsessed, productivity-worshipping framework that the online coaching industry handed her — and that she, despite knowing better, completely bought into.I'm willing to bet you know this territory. You say you don't care about the hustle. You say you have values. But underneath it all, you've quietly reduced your worth to your output, your revenue, your numbers — and you can't figure out why none of it feels like enough. The finish line keeps moving. The milestone arrives. The feeling doesn't.In this episode, we discuss:Why burnout isn't a time management problem. It's what happens when your business becomes your entire sense of self and valueHow to identify your actual values versus the ones you think you should have...and why most high achievers are "full of sh*t" about this distinctionWhat it means to decentralize your business and what you put at the center insteadWhy traditional success is, as Meg argues, the easy path — and what it actually costs you to stay on itThe concrete practice Alexa uses with her clients to turn values from a one-time exercise into a daily decision-making frameworkSuccess isn't the finish line. It's the framework — and until you build your own, you're running someone else's race.Connect with Alexa: Website: https://www.alexamartinezcoaching.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/alexacoachesSubstack: https://substack.com/@alexamartinezPodcast: Full of HerselfChangeology is a podcast about the real, messy, nonlinear process of personal change — hosted by Dr. Meg Trucano, developmental psychologist and change coach. The Dish You Set Down (with Sarah Reuter)

Send us Fan MailYou can hit every goal, nail every KPI, build the business, even travel the world in luxury with clients — and still stand at a sink one afternoon knowing something has to change. That's exactly where Sarah Reuter found herself before walking away from a multimillion-dollar events company with no plan, no safety net, and no clarity about what was next. All she had was a feeling she couldn't ignore anymore. In this episode of Changeology, host and transformational coach Dr. Meg Trucano talks with Sarah Reuter — events industry veteran, embodiment coach, and founder of the Revive and Thrive program — about what it actually looks like to trust your intuition when everything on paper says stay.In this episode, you'll learn:How emotional avoidance masquerades as busyness and productivity--and how to recognize it in yourselfWhat intuition actually feels like in the body, and why it doesn't come from your mindHow to rebuild your identity after walking away from a career, a role, or a version of yourselfThe "head trash record" exercise that surfaces the subconscious story you keep pressing play onWhy anxiety is a signal of misalignment, not a problem to suppressIf you've been carrying a quiet but persistent sense that something's off — and wondering whether to trust it — this conversation is for you.Connect with Sarah:https://www.experienceselevatedconsulting.com/ Changeology is a podcast about the real, messy, nonlinear process of personal change — hosted by life and change coach, Dr. Meg Trucano. The Answer Isn't In Your Head

Send us Fan MailMost people stall out waiting for clarity before they act. But clarity isn't something you think your way to--it's something you build by moving. In this final episode of Changeology's three-part series on the zones of change, host and life coach Meg Trucano breaks down the momentum zone: the messy middle of personal change where behavior starts to shift, identity begins to catch up, and the old version of your life fights hard to pull you back.If you've been stuck in analysis paralysis — mentally running every scenario, waiting for certainty before you make a move — this episode reframes what you're actually waiting for.In this episode, you'll learn:Why action produces clarity faster than contemplation ever couldHow the momentum zone's version of "interruption" is different from earlier stages of changeWhy self-trust is built after you move, not before — and what that actually looks like in practiceHow small, concrete actions in your career or relationships generate the real data you need to make better decisionsHow to identify which zone of change you're in so you're using the right strategyWhether you're navigating a career pivot, a relationship crossroads, or a quieter but persistent sense that something needs to shift, this episode gives you a framework for getting unstuck — without waiting until you feel ready.Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

The Tension Zone: Stuck between "This isn't it" and "Now what"

Send us Fan MailMost people assume that if they want change badly enough, clarity will eventually appear and it'll be smooth sailing from there. But there’s a phase of personal change where the opposite happens:You know something about your life isn’t working anymore. You think about changing careers, leaving a relationship, or redesigning your life entirely. You read books, listen to podcasts, and imagine different possibilities. And yet… nothing actually changes. In this episode, you’ll learn why wanting change isn’t enough to create it, how subtle psychological patterns keep people stuck in careers, relationships, and identities that no longer fit, and why the real work of this stage isn’t finding clarity.... but interrupting the automatic patterns that built your current life (that you want to change). If you’ve ever felt stuck between knowing something has to change and having no idea what the next step is, this episode will help you understand exactly where you are in the change process and what actually moves you forward.Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

Change Is a Practice: Waste Less, Spend Less, Judge Yourself Less (with Sophia Lin Kanno)

Send us Fan MailGrocery prices are rising. Food waste is everywhere. And most of us approach habit change the same way we approach cooking: all in or not at all.In this episode of Changeology, Meg talks with Sophia Lin Kanno (The Spicy Grasshopper), a home chef, food efficiency expert, zero-waste educator, and Food Network champion, about how sustainable change actually works. You’ll learn practical strategies for cooking on a budget, reducing food waste, and building sustainable habits that stick. But this conversation goes deeper than meal planning or grocery savings. It explores how small, imperfect actions build momentum, strengthen self-trust, and break the cycle of all-or-nothing thinking. If you’re trying to create lasting behavior change — in your kitchen or in your life — this episode offers a grounded, practical starting point.Connect with Sophia:Website: The Spicy GrasshopperInstagram: @thespicygrasshopperFacebook: The Spicy Grasshopper (group) Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

The Instability Zone: Why Wanting Change Isn’t Enough

Send us Fan MailChange doesn’t fail because you don’t want it badly enough. It fails when your system is overwhelmed and survival is running the show. In this episode, I break down one of the most misunderstood phases of change: the Instability Zone. This is the first episode in a three-part series discussing the three zones of change. Here, in the Instability Zone, we focus on what happens when change is imposed, rather than chosen. Layoffs. Health diagnoses. Caregiving. Institutional collapse. The moments when urgency is loud, clarity is gone, and everyone keeps asking what you’re going to do next.If you’ve ever felt frozen, panicked, exhausted by decisions you haven’t even made yet, or ashamed that you “should know what's next by now,” this episode will give you language for what’s actually happening. More importantly, it will tell you what not to do—and what does help—when you’re in true instability. This episode is for anyone navigating abrupt, identity-shaking change and wondering why motivation, confidence, or future-thinking feel completely out of reach right now.In This Episode:Why change is a process, not a single decision—and why desire alone can’t override instabilityHow to recognize when you’re in the Instability Zone (hint: urgency without clarity)What’s really happening psychologically when your brain cannot manage to think about the futureHow grief disguises itself as urgency and drives panic-driven decisions The difference between what ended and what didn’t—and why that distinction mattersWhy orientation comes before pivoting, rebranding, or “figuring it out”How rushing decisions in instability often makes change harder, not faster Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

Use Your Voice Now--Because Permission Isn't Coming (with Sarah Ramsey)

Send us Fan MailSometimes change is personal. Sometimes it’s bigger than you. This episode of Changeology is about using your voice when the stakes are high and the world feels unstable. When staying quiet feels safer, but speaking up feels necessary. When the change you’re responding to isn’t something you chose, but something you’re living inside.I’m joined by Sarah Ramsey, a PR strategist and communications expert who helps women and people from marginalized communities reclaim their voice and presence in public, professional, and political spaces. We talk about why waiting for permission is a losing strategy, how “being helpful” often becomes a fast track to invisibility, and why practicing your voice in small, ordinary moments is what prepares you for the moments that actually matter. This isn’t about becoming an influencer or having the perfect talking points. It’s about being able to open your mouth when something is wrong. In a meeting. In your community. In public. In your own life.Because the truth is: when change is this big, silence is still a choice. In this episode, we explore:Why using your voice is a practice, not a personality traitHow women are conditioned to wait for credentials, permission, or “the right time” to speakThe quiet cost of always being the helper and never the authorityWhat authenticity actually means when the world is on fireHow small acts of speaking up prepare you for moments of real consequenceIf you’ve been feeling the urge to say something, do something, or draw a clearer line, but don’t know where to start, this conversation is your starting point.Use your voice now. Style as Self-Trust: Outgrowing the Rules Keeping You Stuck (with Ellie Steinbrink)

Send us Fan MailAt some point, most women realize their style hasn’t kept up with who they’ve become. And the default response after this realization is usually to immediately go shopping. Ellie Steinbrink says that’s exactly where things go sideways. In this episode, I’m joined by Ellie Steinbrink, stylist, personal branding expert, and host of The Visibility Shift podcast, for a conversation about why so many women are dressing by outdated, unspoken rules instead of self-trust. We unpack “corporate black,” the mom uniform, body-based style myths, and the quiet fear that keeps women playing it safe even when they’re ready for something bigger. This is a conversation about the messy middle of change: the gap between knowing you’re evolving and letting yourself be seen as someone new. Style isn’t superficial: It’s a mirror. It reveals where you’re still negotiating for approval instead of acting from self-trust.If you’re in the middle of a career shift, a leadership transition, or a deeper identity change and your outward presentation still reflects who you used to be, this episode will give language to what’s stuck and a way forward. In This EpisodeWhy change often shows up as discomfort before clarityHow outdated style rules keep you anchored to old identitiesThe role “corporate black” plays in signaling safety over self-trustWhy shopping feels productive but often stalls real changeThe moment between internal change and external visibilityHow self-trust becomes the real dress code during transitionWhat to do when your closet no longer matches who you’re becomingConnect with Ellie:[email protected]://www.elliesteinbrink.com/ Instagram: @style.decodedPodcast: The Visibility ShiftLinkedIn Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

Expansion Was the Intention, Resilience Was the Lesson--A Year-End Fireside Chat with Meg

Send us Fan MailThis episode is my honest look at a year that didn’t go the way I planned. I’m talking about the kind of year that forces you to sit still, drink something warm, and admit that the only silver lining you walked away with was resilience--aka, what you earn by getting dragged through situations you never signed up for. Add to that the human negativity bias, working hard to convince me the whole year was a wash.I walk you through the moments that shaped 2025 for me: a long-awaited family trip derailed by illness and rain, the emotional gymnastics of parenting toddlers through airport chaos, and the strange comfort of realizing I can’t control most of what hits my life...only how I interpret it. I didn’t find a bright side in any of it--because sometimes, that's the honest truth--but I did manage to find a way to see these events as neutral instead of catastrophic. That’s where resilience started to take shape. If your year felt heavy, or if you ended December convinced you failed more than you grew, this episode is for you. I break down how our minds naturally overemphasize the hard moments and undervalue the wins, and how you can overcome negativity bias so you see a more accurate version of your life. Not a positive spin--a genuine one. Because resilience becomes real once you stop letting negativity bias run the narrative. What You’ll Learn in This Episode• How negativity bias exaggerates what went wrong and hides what went right• Why resilience sucks to build, and often shows up disguised as disappointment• The role of neutral interpretation when positivity feels dishonest• What we can actually can control when life refuses to follow the damn script• How to see the year you actually lived instead of the version your brain fixates onBook a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

Walking Away from the Success You've Built: The Art of Making Countercultural Decisions (with Jordan Schanda King)

Send us Fan MailShow NotesWalking Away from the Success You've Built: The Art of Making Countercultural Decisions (with Jordan Schanda King)Some seasons of life don’t ask politely. They rip open the seams of your identity and force you to decide what you’re willing to carry into the next chapter. This episode is about that moment. It’s about the woman you become when the version of you that built your success isn't a fit anymore.Jordan Schanda King is a serial entrepreneur, author, and former founder of Easy Scaling and Scaling School. She’s built and sold multiple companies, supported hundreds of women in scaling their businesses, and lived most of her working life in the dual roles of visionary and integrator. Somewhere between her second and third child, her ambition shape-shifted, her identity cracked open, and the business she once loved no longer fit. Her decision to sell Easy Scaling at the peak of its success became the catalyst for a full internal reorientation. This is for anyone who feels the quiet tension of outgrowing the life--and success--they've built. Women whose ambition feels different than it used to. Mothers who sense they’re changing in ways no one talks about--and in ways they couldn't have predicted.Jordan’s story is a clean, honest look at identity shapeshifting, trusting your gut, and giving yourself permission to evolve without apology. What You’ll Learn in This EpisodeWhy identity shifts often show up as confusion, restlessness, or a sudden lack of attachment to work you used to loveThe profound shift to motherhood, and how it can fundamentally alter your ambition, energy, and sense of selfThe difference between pressure-driven ambition and grounded desire, and how Jordan recognized the lineWhat really happens emotionally and practically when you sell a business at your peakWhy most women already know the answer to the change they’re avoiding Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

Changeology Clinic: F*ck the Shoulds--The Psychology Behind How Small Acts of Rebellion Change Everything

Send us Fan MailChangeology Clinic:When you’re stuck in “I can’t,” you’re not broken—you’re obeying invisible rules you never agreed to. Those rules usually start with a “should.” In this episode of Changeology Clinic, Meg unpacks how those subtle, inherited scripts quietly dictate your behavior, shape your identity, and block your ability to change. Drawing from her background in developmental psychology and years of coaching women through identity-level change, Meg introduces one of her most practical tools: Small Acts of Rebellion. These are the tiny, intentional choices that challenge the “insidious shoulds” and rebuild two essential ingredients for real transformation—self-efficacy (trusting yourself to follow through) and psychological safety (feeling safe enough to try). If you’re exhausted by perfectionism, stuck in people-pleasing, or constantly negotiating between what you want and what’s expected, this one’s for you. You’ll learn how to stop asking for permission and start taking small, deliberate steps that return you to your own authority. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE-How “insidious shoulds” unconsciously shape your behavior and identity--without your consent-Why rebellion (done right) is a powerful psychological tool—not just an act of defiance-The two building blocks of meaningful change: self-efficacy and psychological safety-How small, low-stakes acts of rebellion rebuild self-trust and confidence over time-Real examples of small rebellions that disrupt overwork, guilt, and perfectionismBook a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

Intuition vs. Anxiety: How to Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway

Send us Fan MailWhat if the voice you’ve been quieting is the one that would change everything? Today we talk about the messy middle between “I can’t” and “I’m doing it”—where intuition lives, fear gets loud, and small, repeatable moves create outsized momentum. My guest is Amanda Riffee—bestselling author of Unleashing You, internationally certified expansion & empowerment coach, speaker, and host of the Unleashing You with Amanda Riffee podcast. After 18 years in corporate leadership (17 with the same company), Amanda hit burnout on repeat and made a radical, values-led pivot that turned into retreats, a hit podcast, a book tour, and a business that actually fits. If you’re on the cusp of a leap—or you’re done outsourcing your decisions to fear, ego, or someone else’s expectations—this conversation is your permission slip. Changeology Clinic: Radical Permission to Disappoint Others

Send us Fan Mail*On alignment, approval, and why the most honest choice often looks wrong to everyone else*I thought I was just (procrastinating) planning a birthday party for my twins. Every time I thought about the party, I found myself knee-deep in shoulds: good-mom expectations, Pinterest-perfect pressure, and the quiet panic of wanting to do it “right.” Shouldn’t a “good mom” want to plan a big, fun party for her kids? Shouldn’t a “good mom” get excited about it?By the time I’d debated cake flavors, shade tents, and guest lists, I realized the party I was planning had nothing to do with my kids’ joy and everything to do with other people’s comfort and expectations, and with my own "shoulds."It was at that point that I realized that my procrastination was telling me something. I didn’t want to plan or host a big party. So I did something that felt completely countercultural: I didn’t throw the party. I made a different choice. A few humans our kids love, a day at the pool, and homemade ice cream…and it turned out to be one of the most joyful, aligned, and connected experiences of my life, both for me and for my kids. This Changeology Clinic episode isn’t really about parenting. It’s about the invisible expectations that shape your decisions, and how terrifying it can feel to choose what’s true for you instead. It’s about what happens when you stop twisting yourself into someone else’s definition of “good.” It’s about that moment you realize that being authentic might cost you approval…and decide to do it anyway. What You’ll Learn in This EpisodeHow “good” quietly becomes a performanceWhy procrastination is often your body’s way of saying “this isn’t it”What alignment actually feels like (and why it often starts as guilt)Three coaching questions that will help you make the choice that’s true over the one that looks rightWhy disappointing people might be the most honest--and rebellious--thing you ever doBook a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

Do You Deserve Joy? Asking the Question That Changes Everything

Send us Fan MailDo You Deserve Joy? Asking the Question That Changes EverythingWhat if the fear isn’t that you’ll fail—but that you might actually feel good? That you might like your life?In this conversation, Sarah De Block shares how one question—“Do I deserve joy?”—became the gateway to a completely different way of living. We talk about the hidden cost of “comfort,” the whisper of intuition underneath the noise of ambition, and how joy isn't a reward you earn for suffering—it’s something you get to choose. Sarah didn’t blow up her life overnight. She chose slow change, sacred pacing, and nervous system integrity over hustle. The result? A life she actually wants to be in.Sarah is the founder of Soma Yoga Healing Center in Alexandria, Virginia, and author of The Year of Sarah, a memoir chronicling her journey from corporate engineer to Ayurvedic yoga practitioner. Before opening her healing center, she spent years navigating burnout, performance pressure, and the disconnection that comes from living a life designed for someone else.If you've ever asked yourself, “Is this all there is?” or felt like success left you strangely numb, this episode is for you. The Power of Small Brave Acts: How Change Really Begins--with guest Jim Moorhead

Send us Fan MailThe Power of Small Brave Acts: How Change Really BeginsIn this episode of the Changeology podcast, I’m talking to Jim Moorhead—crisis advisor, keynote speaker, and author of The Instant Survivor: Right Ways to Respond When Things Go Wrong. Jim has navigated courtrooms, corporate disasters, and boardroom panic rooms, but today he’s here to talk about something far less glamorous and far more necessary: bravery. Specifically, the kind of bravery you can actually practice, in small, ordinary moments. We unpack how bravery is built—not born—and why that matters when you’re trying to change your life, your leadership, or your sense of self. Bravery isn’t about the grand gesture or the big leap. It’s a discipline. A muscle. A habit you form by saying the honest thing, leaving the room you’re supposed to stay in, or choosing discomfort when it counts. Change requires that kind of practice…and most of us are wildly out of practice. If you’ve ever waited to feel “ready” before making a move, or told yourself you’re just not brave like those people, this conversation is your permission slip to start smaller, and sooner. In This Episode:Why bravery is not the absence of fear, but action in the face of itThe cultural myths that keep women stuck in “being nice” instead of being braveHow small acts of bravery can build your capacity to take bigger leapsWhy rational decision-making alone won’t get you unstuck—and what self-reflection adds to the processWhy small acts of bravery are like tiny rebellions against your own status quoHow to build a culture of courage where everyone gets to take smart, supported risksThe role of bravery in leadership, and how to create an organizational culture that invites courageous actionA future-self exercise to help you make bolder decisions nowConnect with Jim: www.jimmoorhead.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/jimmoorhead/ Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

In this solo episode, I unpack what Shoulds really are, where they come from, and why they hold so much power over us. I also walk you through a three-step coaching exercise to help you identify, explore, and reclaim your authority over the SHOULDs running your life on autopilot.Whether you’re stuck in a job that no longer fits, people-pleasing your way through burnout, or second-guessing every decision you make as a parent, this episode offers both insight and action steps to help you start clearing the weeds. What You’ll Learn in This Episode:🌟 Why “I should…” statements are often a sign of unconscious programming, not actual values 🌟 The three types of SHOULDs—and how they quietly influence your choices 🌟 How to identify the weeds in your mental garden (and what it takes to clear them out) 🌟 A journaling-based coaching exercise to help you keep the shoulds that serve you—and ditch the ones that don’tIf you want support dismantling the stories that no longer serve you—and designing a life that actually does—check the show notes for info about working together 1:1.Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram

Stop Apologizing for What You Need: A More Compassionate Way to Communicate

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of the Changeology podcast, I speak with Kate Brown, coach, holistic therapist, and educator, about how we can communicate our needs clearly and without guilt. If you are like many women I coach, you probably hesitate to ask for what you need. You might feel guilty. You might feel selfish. You might believe that someone will think less of you if you stop trying to anticipate and meet everyone else’s needs first. This is a problem. It keeps women stuck in unsatisfying careers, depleted relationships, and patterns of burnout. In this conversation, Kate introduces a simple four-part framework called Compassionate Communication. It helps you name your feelings, identify your real needs, and ask for what you want in a clear and kind way.We also talk about what happens when you stop trying to manage everyone else’s emotions and start taking responsibility for your own. And we cover the very common experience of guilt that surfaces when women begin to prioritize their needs for the first time.If you are navigating a big change or simply want to show up more fully in your own life, this conversation will give you tools to start. What You’ll Learn in This Episode:-How to communicate your needs without apology-Why feeling guilty about needing things is so common for women, and how to move through it-How most people get their feelings and needs wrong, and how to build real clarity-Why meeting your own needs first allows you to give from a place of strength Connect with Kate: calmatworktherapy.com, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn. The Number One Thing My Clients Say After Making a Big Life Change

Send us Fan MailIn today’s episode, we dive into one of the most common reflections my clients have after making a major life change: “I wish I had done this sooner.” Whether it’s quitting a toxic relationship or pursuing a new career path, many of us delay making these big decisions because we fear what we will lose. In this episode, I explore why it’s so hard to take the leap, even when we know deep down that making the change would be better for us. The fear of loss, or “loss aversion bias,” often keeps us stuck in situations that aren’t serving us, making it difficult to see the potential benefits on the other side of change.I also touch on how this bias can manifest in both small and large decisions, whether it’s staying in a job you hate because it’s stable or continuing unhealthy habits because they feel familiar. It’s a natural human tendency to prioritize avoiding discomfort over focusing on what’s to be gained by doing something new, even if the change would result in a positive outcome. In this episode, I share how recognizing and confronting these fears can help you move forward in your own life with more confidence.By the end of this episode, you’ll understand why making a big life change feels so difficult, but also how to shift your perspective to focus on what you stand to gain rather than what you might lose. I offer strategies for overcoming loss aversion and the sunk cost fallacy to help you make decisions that serve your highest good. What you will learn in this episode:🌟 The most common reflection people have after making a big life change.🌟 Why loss aversion bias keeps you stuck in situations that no longer serve you.🌟 How to recognize and overcome fear when it comes to making life-altering decisions.🌟 The importance of focusing on the gains, not just the losses, when considering change.🌟 How letting go of the status quo creates space for new, fulfilling opportunities.🌟 Simple mindset shifts to help you start making changes in your life today.Book a free 30-minute Clarity Call here to cut through the noise and bring next steps into focus: https://www.megtrucano.com/book-a-call***The REAL Change Kickstart (45-Day 1:1 Intensive)***For women who know something needs to change and are ready to stop circling the decision.***The REALignment Private Coaching Experience (3 or 6 Months)***For women already mid-transition who want support integrating change in every aspect of their lives, not just initiating it.Connect with Meg:WebsiteLinkedInInstagram
