Aerial photos have shown a large pool and lazy river in the design, and now we know this area will be known as “The Wetlands”. The area is Inspired by Pocahantas. Heron Shores will be a play area with unique climbing features. Otter Springs will be a splash pad with a small slide for little ones. Daydream River is the lazy river that runs throughout the area. Lakeshore Lagoon will be the resort's main pool with a zero-entry feature and a spiral water slide. Finally, on the other side of the resort is the quiet pool, Perspective Pond, which will also have a whirlpool spa nearby. They also mention a historic plaque marking the location of the previous existing “River Country” on this spot. Source: Disney Parks Blog New Experiences at Boardwalk In the former Jellyrolls location, a new entertainment venue called “Hurly-Burly” will be opening at Disney's Boardwalk. Described as a “historic seaside theater with vibrant Boardwalk story that spans over a century”, this spot will host family-friendly events like trivia and other activities during the day with a charismatic host. At night, the venue converts to an adults-only venue with drinks, light bites, and musical entertainment. Also announced, Basin will be bringing a new retail experience to the boardwalk. Similar to the popular location in Grand Floridian, this shop serves soaps, bath bombs, and various skin lotions. Source: Disney Parks Blog Christmas dates at Walt Disney World Jollywood Nights returns again for 2026, this time for 15 dates, including two dates in January on the 3rd and 5th. Otherwise the parties are typically scheduled on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays in November and December. November 7, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 December 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 23 January 3, 5 Guests may enter at 5:30 PM and the party lasts from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM. Tickets run from $169 to $199 per night, with a $10 discount for children 3 to 9. DVC members get an additional $10 discount for all nights. Tickets go on sale to resort guests starting July 9th and general public July 16th. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party will run for 25 total nights starting Sunday, November 8th. Events are typically on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, including Thanksgiving week. Guests may enter at 4 PM and the party lasts from 7 PM to 12 AM. Tickets run from $189 to $229 per night, with a $10 discount for children 3 to 9. DVC members get an additional $10 discount for all nights. Tickets go on sale the same days as Jollywood Nights. Disney Parks Blog describes it as “a sprawling playground for adults and teens that features 60+ life‑sized mini‑games and real-world challenges. This place will test your body and your mind as you dodge axes, crack mind‑bending puzzles, and outsmart cleverly designed challenges— all amid an environment filled with bold, colorful art installations.” In addition, Disney Springs will be celebrating all summer with DESCENDance Party & Camp Rock Jam at the Waterside stage on select dates, celebrating the release of the new Descendants and Camp Rock DCOMs on Disney Channel and Disney+ this summer. Giveaway hours are between 6 and 10 PM. The actual lounge will not be open during those hours; the location is simply being used as a giveaway point. Members can save $10 on party tickets as well. In California, DVC members can visit a special treat stop when attending Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure at Golden Vine House from 6:00 to 8:00pm on party nights. Permits have been issued for former Big River Grille space referencing "Project Amazon" and former gallery space referencing "Project Bubbles." While no permits have been issued, the interior of the former Jellyrolls space has been partially demolished, leaving the side of the building open and surrounded by construction walls. This differs from previous announcements referring to 967 rooms. The difference could be related to lock-off units. The filing references a "Use Plan" and will have resale restrictions in place. New Direct Pricing and Incentives Released On February 10th, the base prices for the 5 current DVC resorts were increased, with Disney's Riviera Resort, Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, and Aulani increasing to $243 per point, an $8 increase. The Villas at Disneyland Hotel also increased $3 to $248 per point.  New incentives have also been announced. A $1,000 flat offer is now on the books for new members for 200-point or higher contracts, and existing members 150-point contracts. In addition, another $1,000 is available for Disney Visa holders for 150-point or larger contracts. Each resort also has additional point discounts off of the base price starting at 100-points for existing members and 150-points for new members in addition to the $1000.  For example, new Riviera buyers can get $15 off at the 150-point purchase price, while current members see a $19 per point discount. It should be noted that this is NOT the quiet pool near the DVC rooms, which is listed as the Dunes Cove pool and was last refurbished in 2023.  Source: DVC News On February 15th, Typhoon Lagoon closed for its annual refurbishment and Blizzard Beach reopened in its place. The two water parks will both be open at the same time again starting on May 12th. A reminder that free water park entry for resort guests is scheduled for May 26th through September 8th 2026. Disney celebrates America's 250th with new version of Soarin’ Last month, Disney announced that the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States will kick-off on Veterans day, November 11th, and continue through July 4th, 2026. The biggest piece of news is that Soarin’ will be updated to “Soarin’ across America” in summer 2026. In addition, both coasts will have extended fireworks presentations for from July 3rd through July 5th. In addition, there will be a 24-hour long media event across Disney platforms on July 4th, as well as merchandise surrounding the holiday.  To celebrate veterans, on November 11th Disney announced steep discounts for veterans, including a Walt Disney World ticket valid for 2026 for all active and retired military members for only $499+ tax. In addition Disney is also offering a 6-day Park Hopper pass for $449+ tax, as well as 5-day and 4-day ticket deals for military members.  These offers are valid January 1 through December 18, 2026, with an advanced theme park reservation and subject to blockout dates from March 29 – April 11, 2026 and November 22 – 28, 2026. Discounts are also offered on Disneyland tickets for active and retired military, with discounted 3-Day and 4-Day Park Hopper tickets valid for visits January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, and a 1-Day, 1-Park Disneyland Resort Military Adult Ticket. Disney Cruise Line is offering special military rates on select cruises, and eligible active and retired US military personnel can earn a $250 onboard credit per stateroom for all 2026 sailings from Florida aboard the Disney Wish and Disney Dream. Remy's fans will spot new props and lighting enhancements when they are added to the queue and attraction over the next few months. Source: WDW Magic Changes to Bars at Poly and Grand Floridian The Perch Lobby Bar at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort officially opened for business on November 10th.  The bar serves wine, beer and specialty cocktails. This new bar was inspired by the large birdcage that used to be in the Grand Floridian lobby. This is all part of the full refurbishment of the main salon area that has been going on at the resort.  In addition, Walt Disney World announced that the Wailulu Bar and Grill at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows Island Tower will end the current walk-up policy and begin taking reservations.  This will start on December 3rd for dates of December 4th and beyond.    Source: WDW Magic - Grand Floridian, WDW Magic - Polynesian DVC Members get a special viewing area for the Disneyland Christmas Parade On November 20, November 25, and December 11, 2025, Disney Vacation Club Members can watch A Christmas Fantasy Parade from a special reserved section in the Small World Promenade. Eligible owners must claim a wristband at Star View Station - A Member Lounge beginning at 11:00am on the event date. The member plus up to 4 additional guests on their resort reservation can be accommodated. Each member of the party must be present to claim a wristband. The parade starts at 3:00 pm and participants with wristbands must arrive 30 minutes prior to the show time. The viewing area is standing room only. Note there is limited parking for ECVs. DVC members get exclusive early access to Zootopia: Better Zoogether Walt Disney World has announced special Disney Vacation Club Member preview days for the new Tree of Life attraction called Zootopia: Better Zoogether. With the attraction set to open to the public on November 7th, previews for DVC members have been announced for November 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Guests must have rooms booked by October 19th and the Registration date is scheduled to open on October 23rd. It is expected to work similar to the queue for Moonlight Magic. If you have an annual pass, there are also AP previews scheduled for November 5th and 6th. The attraction will use a virtual queue system for those days. The queue will open at 7:00am for passholders with a theme park reservation. A second queue window opens at 1:00pm daily which does not require a park reservation. Source: DVC News Disneyland and Walt Disney World roll out price increases Walt Disney World has raised one-day ticket prices which affect tickets for October 2025 through December 2026. The ticket range for a single day ticket for each park is now as follows:  Magic Kingdom: $159 – $209 (increase of $10) EPCOT: $139 – $209 (increase of $15) Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $149 – $204 (increase of $5) Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $119 – $184 (increase of $5) Park hopper tickets and multi-day tickets for the last quarter of 2026 also show a year-over-year increase. Parking also increased from $30 to $35 for standard rates. In addition, Disney has removed the discount on ordering a magic band with your resort reservation, which usually save $10 off the price. Annual Pass prices increased as well, though, with the exception of the Incredi-Pass, the increases were moderate: Pixie Dust Pass: $489 (previously $469) Pirate Pass: $869 (previously $829) Sorcerer Pass: $1,099 (previously $1,079) Incredi-Pass: $1,629 (previously $1,549) Disney PhotoPass Downloads and the Water Park and Sports Option both increased from $99 to $109 per pass.    Disneyland Resort also got in on the game, with new Magic Key prices as follows: Inspire: now $1,899 (increased $150 from $1,749) Believe: now $1,474 (increased $100 from $1,374) Enchant: now $974 (no change) Imagine: now $599 (no change) Parking also increased by $5 in all categories with the base price at $40. Walt Disney World’s operating schedule shows it will return on November 23rd just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.  In addition, the Mickey Shorts Theater at Disney's Hollywood Studios, currently showing Vacation Fun - An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie, will be closed starting October 20th. Doors open at 4:00pm and 6:15pm for the two nightly performances, with the show beginning 20 minutes later. Members can stop by the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost in Echo Lake at Disney's Hollywood Studios for a sweet treat and hot cocoa. Source:  DVC News, DIsney Vacation Club website Add-on contract policy changed to allow for smaller contracts at all resorts  Current Disney Vacation Club Members have always been able to add-on small point contracts direct from Disney.  While a new Member has to purchase a minimum of 100 points to join DVC direct, a current Member can add onto their contracts with as few as 25 points through direct purchase at most resorts.   However, newer resorts do not fall under that 25 point minimum, and existing Members have been required to purchase a minimum of 50 points at the The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Riviera Resort, or The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. This requirement has recently changed and now Members can add-on 25-points to any resort in the DVC portfolio. Source: DVC News Membership Magic Beyond returns in 2026 Disney Vacation Club has announced that the Membership Magic Beyond benefit will return in 2026. This program started in 2025 and provides special ticket discounts, a 30-day memory maker benefit, annual passes for points, half-price one-time use points, priority lounge access, and a special character meet and greet. DVC has not confirmed if the price will remain at $99 but did indicate that the meet and greet after hours at the Disney Vacation Club ImaginAtrium – A Member Lounge at EPCOT will change from Nick and Jody of Zootopia to Mickey and Minnie Mouse in exclusive DVC outfits. Disney has also hinted at new perks but nothing has been announced. Membership Magic Beyond runs with the calendar year, not use year or 12-months from purchase. Source: DVC News DVC Pool Closures, and Spaceship Earth reopening date DVC has announced that the Miller’s Road pool at Old Key West will be closed for refurbishment from September 29th through late November. Three other pools on property will remain available for guest use, including the sandcastle feature pool.  The Paddock Pool at Saratoga Springs is scheduled to close on October 13th with a planned reopening in early December. Though previously announced, the Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower will be closing January 26th through Early May.  Finally, Disney has announced that Spaceship Earth is scheduled to reopen on October 25th after a two-month closure. First up, three new 2025 Moonlight Magic dates were added at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  These dates are Wednesday, October 29th, Tuesday, November 18th, and Monday, December 15th.  Registration for these dates will be available starting on October 2nd at 11 AM for guests with resort reservations, and October 11th for members without reservations. The 2026 slate includes 10 total events. The dates are as follows: Winter Tuesday, January 20: Disney's Animal Kingdom Thursday, February 12: EPCOT Monday, February 23: Disney California Adventure Spring Wednesday, April 22: Disney's Hollywood Studios Thursday, June 25: Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park Summer Monday, July 20: Disney's Hollywood Studios Tuesday, August 4: Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park Thursday, August 20: Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park Thursday, September 10: EPCOT For the Winter dates, resort guest registration is scheduled to open December 16th, with general registration following on the 19th.  Resort guest registration for the Spring dates is on February 26th and general registration opens on March 5th. For Summer dates, resort guest registration begins on June 4th and general registration will open on June 11th. Eligible Members can register for one event per season. Source: Disney Vacation Club website Announcements from Destination D23 event in August In August, Disney held their Destination D23 event in Florida, but new parks and resorts information was minimal.  Among the announcements are the following: A Walt Disney Audio Animatronic is planned to be added to the Carousel of Progress in an opening scene for the attraction. There will also be some sort of updates to the attraction, but no further details have been given. Cinderella Castle is going to be repainted with “greys, creams, blue and a touch of gold” going back to its more traditional material.  Some samples of the Imagineering for Villains Land was shown providing the inspiration for the architecture of the land.  No attractions or other specific information was shared. TRON: ARES overlay planned for Tron Lightcycle run from September 15th forward using new red colors and a Nine Inch Nails soundtrack.  Source: Disney Parks Blog Closing Date for DINOSAUR   Dinoland U.S.A. has been gradually closing for the replacement with a themed land around Tropical Americas. The Boneyard play area closed recently on September 2nd. Walt Disney World has announced that the last day of operation for DINOSAUR and Restaurantasaurus is scheduled for February 1st, 2026.  Meet and Greets with Donald and Chip and Dale are planned to move to other locations at that time.  In addition, Disney has announced changes planned for the Harambe Marketplace with the many menu options from Restaurantasaurus moving to that location in Africa. Harambe Marketplace will close for the refurbishment in December and is expected to reopen around the beginning of February Finally, the Kali River Rapids annual refurbishment will be completed earlier than usual, with a closure beginning October 6th with an expected reopening in December.  Source:  Disney Tourist Blog, Walt Disney World website WDW Annual Pass Gift Card Rebate end date revealed Walt Disney World is currently offering a gift card rebate for all Annual Pass purchases. As a reminder, the Sorcerer Pass purchase earns a $75 Gift Card for each AP purchased by eligible Disney Vacation Club members. Other passes offer discounts from $25 to $100. Disneyland to eliminate early entry in 2026, close Pixar Pier entrance to DCA For many years, Disneyland Resort has allowed guests and Disney Vacation Club Members staying at on-site hotels to enter one of the two parks 30 minutes early, allowing a slight jump on the crowds. On January 5th, 2026, early entry will no longer be offered and will be replaced by a free entry to one Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction per person for the resort stay. The Individual Lightning Lane attractions are not included as choices.  In addition, the Pixar Pier entrance to Disney’s California Adventure will be closing on January 5th. Resort Guests will be allowed to enter through the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel entrance.  This is likely to do with the construction of the new Coco ride scheduled to be installed in that corner of Pixar Pier.  Source: WDW Magic Zootopia show in Animal Kingdom debut date set  Disney Parks Blog has provided some details on the new Tree of Life show, including the opening date.  Zootopia - Better Zoogether  is scheduled to open on November 7th.  The show is described by Disney as follows:  “Zoogether Day, a celebration of unity amongst the diverse biomes across the city, will be recognized with special performances such as ice-skating spectaculars from the heart of Tundratown! Synchronized swimming direct from Marsh Market! Tiny mouse drone shows soaring over Little Rodentia! And of course, a musical finale by superstar Gazelle – all of which we’ll see from the livestream watch party.” Disney also indicated to keep an eye out for more information coming later this fall about special previews for cast members, Annual Passholders, and Disney Vacation Club Members. First, Big Thunder Mountain is getting a new track and some new magic. The article describes changes to the opening lift hill with new concept art: “ One such moment comes when the trains rattle their way underground to spectacular natural caverns full of phosphorescent pools, shimmering and illuminating iridescent stalagmites and stalactites. The Rainbow Caverns certainly are beautiful… but they ain’t as friendly as they first appear. In fact, that menacing rumble from deep within the mountain may be a sign that we ain’t welcome.” In addition, the blog has shared more information about the changes coming to Rock and Roller Coaster when the Muppets take over: “…at G-Force Records, we’re treated to a VIP tour of the legendary rock and roll recording studio. Things might look a little different around this Hollywood institution, as the label has recently come under new management – The Muppets!” “With your VIP passes, you’ll be welcomed inside the recording studio, where you’ll find the Electric Mayhem are cranking out some seriously rocking tunes. Source: Big Thunder and Rock and Roller Coaster Samawati Springs Pool at Animal Kingdom Kidani to be closed Beginning September 8, 2025, the Samawati Springs Pool slide at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village will temporarily close for routine maintenance. Disney says that during the refurbishment, guests staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge can use the waterslide at the nearby Uzima Springs Pool, located at Jambo House. Both pools remain open throughout the project, with only the Samawati Springs slide unavailable. DVC Halloween Meet and Treat returns for 2025 Disney Vacation Club has announced the Halloween Meet & Treat event is back for another year. Moving from Atlantic Dance Hall to a new location in the Convention Center at Disney's BoardWalk Inn & Villas, the event gives owners a chance to meet with Disney characters while enjoying music, treats and other surprises. The event is scheduled for four dates in October: Monday, October 13, 2025 Tuesday, October 14, 2025 Monday, October 27, 2025 Tuesday, October 28, 2025 Each day, the event will take place from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The event will take place in rooms Promenade West/Salons I-III of the BoardWalk Convention Center. Costumes may be worn, but they must adhere to Disney's theme park costume guidelines. From October 2025 through May 2026, guest rooms at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will undergo refurbishment, followed by refurbishment work at Jambo House from May 2026 through January 2027. During these times, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area. All amenities will remain available throughout the refurbishment. Animal Kingdom Lodge has the oldest room decor of any resort on property and this is the first hard goods refurbishment for these resorts. Jambo opened in 2007 and Kidani in 2009. New Animation experience coming to Hollywood Studios Walt Disney World has announced that a new experience themed around “The Magic of Disney Animation” will take the place of Star Wars Launch Bay. Inspired by the Emmy Award-winning short film, “Once Upon A Studio,” the attraction will be housed in a building reminiscent of the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building, with a large Sorcerer’s Hat overlooking the entrance.  Inside, guests will be able to interact and explore the Disney Animation headquarters, which will include portraits that come to life, a short film, and character sketch opportunities. Young children can explore the “Drawn to Wonderland” playground filled with an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset and a Tulgey Wood exploration area, all inspired by the original “Alice in Wonderland” concept art from Disney Legend Mary Blair. This new area is scheduled to open in 2026. The restaurant does not currently take reservations.  Source: DVC News Holiday Dining at Grand Californian Disney Parks Blog announced two new holiday-themed dining experiences at Storyteller's Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. For breakfast and brunch, guests can enjoy "Daisy's Holiday Pajama Party." with a character lineup consisting of Donald and Daisy Duck, Chip and Dale and Pluto. Meanwhile, dinner brings the all-new "Mickey's Christmas Carol Holiday Feast." Guests will be joined by Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Scrooge McDuck and others, all wearing outfits resembling those from the animated classic "Mickey's Christmas Carol." Start dates, reservation availability, and pricing have not yet been announced. Source: Disney Parks Blog New, better DVC discounts announced After several months of less than spectacular direct purchase discounts, it looks like Disney Vacation Club is looking to boost sales with improved discounts.  All five currently selling resorts have some level of discounts for members. (Note starting prices are $235 for most resorts, and $245 for the Disneyland resort.) These offers will be valid through September 29th.  Most resort discounts kick in at 150 points for new members and 100 points for current members, but the best discounts kick in at 200 points and 150 points respectively. For example, at Disney's Riviera Resort, current members see a $24 discount for as low as 150 points, while new members only receive $11 off, though it jumps to $24 at 200 points. The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort have even sharper discounts for both new and current members, with discounts of $28 or $30 respectively for only 150 points. Strong sales at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows lead to weaker discounts, with 10 or $11 off per point at 200 points. Aulani incentives are a little less than the Cabins, but new and current members can save $26 on with a 200 or 150 point contract respectively. Existing members can even save $30 a point for a 150 point contract at The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel, with the same discount for new members at 200 points.  For sold-out resorts, the only one with a current incentive is Animal Kingdom Lodge, but discounts $10 per point at 100 points, $15 per point at 150 points, and $20 per point on contracts of 200 points or more are available.  This offer is only available to current members. Blizzard Beach closing down for fall On September 8th, Blizzard Beach appears to be closing for its annual refurbishment. While no official announcement has been made, no the operating calendar lists the water park as closed. Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid will close for a short refurbishment on July 21st through 26th.  Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close for the addition of new technology on August 4th.  An opening date has not been shared other than in 2026. Spaceship Earth is closing for a refurbishment on August 25th. While this closure is not expected to result in any extensive changes, the refurbishment could last for a few months. The only information provided is that it will reopen “later in the year”. Hall of Presidents reopened in Magic Kingdom on June 29th. The show features the current president reciting the oath of office.  As a reminder, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle Riverboat will be closing on July 7th for permanent closure.   Source:  Touring Plans AP and DVC preview dates for Test Track  Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will have the opportunity to preview Test Track from July 13th through 16th and July 18th and 19th for a total of six days. Guests can join a virtual queue at 7 AM or 1 PM on the day of. Passholders must have a reservation at EPCOT to join the 7 am queue. Disney Vacation Club members will also have an opportunity to ride on July 12th. Members need to have a stay booked on that day with the reservation made by July 6th. Registration will open on July 8th, though exact timing has not been shared. In addition, Club 33 members and Golden Oak owners will have a preview date on July 11th.  In other news, the ride will debut to Lightning Lane as a Tier 1 along with Remy and Frozen, bumping Soarin’ down to a Tier 2 attraction.  Source: Facebook post, Disney Tourist Blog Eat to the Beat Lineup announced   With EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival only a month away, more details have been revealed.  The line-up for Eat to the Beat was announced, with concerts scheduled Friday through Monday. Many bands are returning, but some new bands such as KT Tunstall, Jordan Sparks, Bowling for Soup, and the Beach Boys have been added. This is combined with current roadway improvements around the resort.  Source: Walt Disney World website, Blog Mickey DVC sets stronger wording against point rentals  As of June 1, 2025, Disney Vacation Club updated the Terms and Conditions associated with making reservations using DVC points. Under the heading of "General Terms and Conditions and Responsibility", Members are asked to confirm that reservations "are solely for personal use and not for commercial purposes." Additionally, DVC added a required checkbox to the final step of the online booking process, asking Members to confirm that the reservation is for personal use only. Note that DVC has previously indicated that they have no problem with members who rent out their points when not being used. As such, it is assumed they are looking to crack down on points that are rented commercially.   Source: DVC News Fort Wilderness Meadow Swimming Pool Expansion announced Construction is about to begin on the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool, the main feature pool at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.  The additions will bring a new zero entry pool to the area as well as additional deck space. The remodeled recreation area will also include a tennis court and two Pickleball courts. Disney announces new park in Abu Dhabi In what may be the biggest Disney announcement in recent years, on May 7th Disney announced a seventh global resort in Abu Dhabi on YAS Island, where several other theme park resorts are already located.   The resort is in conjunction with and wholly paid for by Miral, a local Abu Dhabi company, and designed by Disney Imagineering. This will be the second park fully financed by another company after Tokyo Disneyland, which is owned by the Oriental Land Company. It is expected that the park will be open in about 5 years.  Source: Walt Disney Company, CNN Details on new Pirate Tavern in Adventureland announced Disney has release some details of the upcoming tavern that will open later this year. The tavern is called The Beak and Barrel and per Disney, was established by a pirate rumrunner, Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, and her talkative first mate, Rummy. Rummy appears to be an animatronic parrot that will greet guests in the main mess hall.  There will also be an enchanted Rum Bottle that serves as the source of the taverns brews.  A second room is called “The Captain’s Quarters” and will also have some magical bottles that may come to life as well, seemingly inspired by the Adventurer’s Club.  Alcoholic drinks will be served but limited to two per customer and no carry-out allowed. In addition, the guest experience is listed as a 45-minute time-cycle experience. No word on whether the bar will wholly refresh every 45 minutes with guests, but that seems unlikely. Reservations will begin on June 12th for resort guests, and to the general public June 16th.  Source: Disney Parks Blog Mickey’s Not So Scary and Food and Wine dates announced Walt Disney has released the dates for Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party for 2025 and they stretch for 38 dates from August 15th to October 31st. The exact dates are available in our show notes but are three nights a week through late September at which point they go to four nights a week per the usual schedule.  Tickets went on-sale to on-site guests May 15th which is when we are recording this, and will be available to the general public on May 22nd. Prices are listed between $119 and $229. Showtimes range from 10 AM to 6 PM with a total of 15 showing listed each day. The show is expected to take between 17-20 minutes and play as frequently as every 30 minutes so quick changeovers are expected. The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure is also on the schedule with showtimes running from 9:15 AM to 7:15 PM daily starting May 27th. This show is also listed on the Lightning Lane selections.  The entrance to Disney California Adventure located in Disney's Grand California Hotel has reopened after a two-month closure.  Advance Reservations for Summer Moonlight Magic events opened for resort guests on May 15th. Early entry 30 minutes before official park opening is available to Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels and select other hotels. The evening hours are available to all guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort or other select hotels. These benefits are all included with stays at a Disney Vacation Club resort regardless of Member eligibility. One child’s dining plan (age 3-9) can be added to the reservation for free for each adult paid package.  The Quick Service Dining Plan offers two quick service meals and one snack or non-alcoholic beverage per day, plus a refillable beverage mug for the entire length of the stay. The plan is priced at $60.46 per adult and $26.16 per child. The traditional Disney Dining Plan includes one table service meal, one quick service meal and one snack or drink per day, along with the refillable mug. This plan is priced at $98.59 per adult and $31.94 per child. Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows dominated the sales numbers with 91,000 points total, which is the second highest total since the resort went on sale. The Polynesian has sold 14% of the resorts 3.8 million points, and is on pace for selling out by the end of 2027. 33% of the resort inventory has been declared to DVC, so with additional declarations not expected until August or September.  Meanwhile, Disney’s Riviera Resort continues at a pace of 60,000 points in March, which is slightly below the average of the resort. The resort is currently 77% sold and, barring a serious drop, will be sold out by the end of 2026. The resort is also 87% declared into inventory.  There are still 47 units not yet declared. The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness continue to sell a small but steady 7,000 points a month and are now 3.3% sold. This offer is good through the end of 2026.  In addition, Disney Vacation Club is now allowing 15-year financing for direct purchases instead of 10-year financing. First in-park DVC “Welcome Center” coming to Disney World Disney Vacation Club announced the opening of the first in-park Welcome Home Center in the Canadian pavilion in Epcot.  The location will serve as a walk-in sales location for individuals to learn more about the Disney Vacation Club program and will be called “Chateau de Voyage.” It will feature a walk-through model room of the Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, similar to the Disney Springs location that opened last year with its own model villa of Disney's Riviera Resort. The breakdown of the units now available for booking is as follows: 15 of 39 Duo Studios  (38%) 26 of 91 Tower Studios (28%) 9 of 26 Dedicated One-Bedroom Villas (35%) 18 of 46 Lockoff Two-Bedroom Villas (39%) 2 of 16 Dedicated Two-Bedroom Villas (12%) 2 of 4 Two-Bedroom Deluxe Villas (50%) The remaining undeclared rooms are available for cash reservations from Disney.  Source: DVC News Opening Dates revealed for new Hollywood Studios attractions Disney Parks Blog revealed that The Little Mermaid: An Undersea Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will both open on May 27, 2025. The Little Mermaid show was originally announced to reopen last fall, but the extensive rebuild of the theater took longer than expected. While in the same location as the original, this show has been reimagined, including newly added renditions of “Kiss the Girl” and “Daughters of Triton”.  The Disney Villains show is replacing Lightning McQueen Racing Academy on Sunset Boulevard and is expected to feature Cruella DeVil, Captain Hook and Maleficent as live characters with other characters featured in the show on screens.  Source: Disney Parks Blog Major update announced for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom will be closing in August 2025 for a major upgrade. The update will include a new character named “Buddy” who will provide training at the start of the adventure and enhanced ride vehicles with video monitors. DVC Member Lounge in MK now open, more details on adults-only EPCOT lounge Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House – A Member Lounge had a surprise early opening on March 18th. The new lounge in Frontierland was expected to open sometime this summer. It hosts a number of seating spots, free beverages, and lots of charging ports. Sadly though there are stairs to a second level, members are not allowed upstairs and there is no balcony for viewing parades as they go by. Hours of operation are 11 AM to 6 PM. In other lounge news, Disney dropped a few more details about the Spaceship Earth lounge in a post on the Disney Parks Blog, including the official name.  The new lounge will be called GEO-82 and will offer reservations open to all guests 21 and older. Per the website: “Disney Vacation Club Members are entitled to cancel any exchange confirmation issued 30 days or more in advance of the initial date of occupancy of the Host Accommodations. However, in all instances, the Member—through the applicable Disney Vacation Club Cast Member—must notify Interval of their desire to cancel such confirmation 30 days or more in advance of the Host Accommodations’ initial date of occupancy. The previous policy, effective through December 31, 2024, entitled Disney Vacation Club Members to cancel any exchange confirmation issued 7 days or more in advance of the initial date of occupancy of the Host Accommodations. Regardless of when the cancellation of the qualified exchange confirmation or request occurred, the Member’s Points will not revert to their Disney Vacation Club account. However, the Member will have the right to request a future use through the Vacation Exchange Program, including multiple exchanges (with the exception of a hotel exchange booking), until December 31 of the second calendar year following the calendar year in which the Member’s confirmation was cancelled.” Source: Disney Vacation Club website Announcements from Disney at SXSW  Disney Parks presented an advanced technology seminar at SXSW in Austin showcasing some of the technology from the upcoming new attractions, including the launch system for the Monsters Inc. roller coaster in Disney's Hollywood Studios, the off-road ride vehicles for the Cars ride in Magic Kingdom, and the Stark Flight Lab at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure.  While generally no timing was provided for projected opening dates, Disney did reveal an update to the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will coincide with the Mandalorian movie in May 2026. Changes to DVC Moonlight Magic Sign-up As evidenced by the spring Moonlight Magic sign up experiences, there have been some changes put in place to make the opportunity for sign up more fair to all members.  For both the member with rooms booking and the open registration, Members are encouraged to sign-in ahead of the 11 AM Eastern opening.  Logging into the link requires your member number and is only one valid for one browser.  At 11 AM, all members signed in are given a random spot in the queue, regardless of the timing of log-in. Spots are assigned until the event is full.  Reports say that most members who were signed on before 11 AM were able to get the event they selected. Source: Disney Vacation Club website DVC members receive 20% discount on VIP tours for a limited time  Disney Vacation Club is offering members a 20% discount on VIP Tours for April 28th through September 27th with the exemption of holiday dates.  VIP Tours can include up to 10 people and typically range from $450 - 900 per hour.   Inside sources say that the advent of the Premier Lightning Lane pass has created considerably less demand for the VIP tours, as park-goers can get front of the line access to all of the rides without paying for the VIP tours. For smaller groups there is a significant savings doing this.   Source: Disney Vacation Club website, DVC News Grand Californian refurbishment photos reveal only slight changes Images of a 2-bedroom refurbished rooms were released and the results are somewhat surprising. Although the Murphy-style bed has replaced the existing sofa beds as expected and new appliances have been installed, much of the flooring, walls, and cabinetry look the same or have been only refaced. The bathrooms as well seem to be unchanged from previous configurations, and while the room decor is a little lighter, it still maintains the mostly dark tones of the rest of the resort.  In addition, the exterior of the DVC wing and the Fountain Pool, one of the three pools at the resort, are also being refurbished Source: DVC News Blizzard Beach to host month long celebration for 30th anniversary Blizzard Beach first opened its gates on April 1, 1995, and Disney is celebrating with a series of limited-time events at the park. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will greet guests dressed in their winter attire. A DJ will play music throughout the day, along with dance parties and family-friendly games. Unique character-themed tubes will be found on Cross Country Creek, and limited time food and beverage offerings will be available for purchase. On May 1st, Blizzard Beach will be closing for the season, with Typhoon Lagoon opening to take its place. Since the pandemic, Disney has only had one of the two water parks open at any one time. Jellyrolls closing on the Boardwalk Jellyrolls Original Dueling Piano Showcase at the Disney's Boardwalk is closing after 30 years. Jellyrolls posted on their Instagram account:  "After nearly thirty years on Disney's Boardwalk, Jellyrolls is making a move! Come celebrate with us into the spring season and keep your eyes on our social media for exciting new updates!" After recording, Jellyrolls announced their final performance will be on April 19, 2025. No information on the new location has been provided, but in a separate post it was indicated that the new location will be off Disney Property.   Rumors have been circulating for last 6 months about the closure, but this was the first news we have heard. No word on what will replace Jellyrolls if anything, though the rumors have mentioned a Jazz Club in that location.  Source: Jellyrolls Instagram, DVC News 2026 DVC Member Cruise and “First Wave” River Cruise scheduled Disney Vacation Club has announced a Member exclusive river cruise through Adventures by Disney. The cruise is from June 4-11, 2026 in the south of France, including stops in Lyon, Avignon, and Arles. Per DVC, Disney artist and the voice of Mickey Mouse Bret Iwan will "join Members in the voyage’s guided adventures at each idyllic port and spend quality time adventuring together with some of the best Disney fans on Earth."  Bookings will open on February 18th at 9 AM Eastern time. Members may use either points or cash. Prices have not yet been released.   Also, the 2026 Member cruise dates were also revealed to be August 31 - September 7. The cruise will depart on the Disney Dream from Southhampton England and visit Denmark and Norway. Registration is scheduled to open Saturday March 22, 2025 via member services. At least one member must register for the cruise using points.  Source: DVC website - ABD River Cruise, DVC website - Member Cruise Disney Direct Prices for numerous resorts increase While it has been known for a while that the primary on-sale resorts would be increasing in price on February 11th, a number of additional resorts increased in price as well.  New Resorts at the Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, Disney's Riviera Resort, The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas all increased by $10 to $235 per point. The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel also increased to $245 per point, a $6 increase.  Meanwhile, prices per point increased for sold out resorts as follows: Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, up $5 to $255 Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, up $5 to $215 Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, up $10 to $215 The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, up $20 to $330 per point.  The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, up $35 to $265 per point.  There are still discount rates for all the new resorts available when buying a minimum of 100 points for existing Members and 150 points for new Members. Each meeting will be 45 minutes long, with the first one starting at 9 AM at the Boardwalk Inn Convention Center. A new projection show will be added in the area of the Millennium Falcon, called “Shadows of Memory: The Skywalker Saga”.  In addition, Luke Skywalker will be meeting during this time. Showtimes for both the projection show and the meet and greet have yet to be announced. Valentine’s Day Meet and Treat at Boardwalk Announced Disney Vacation Club has added another “Meet and Treat” event at the Atlantic Dance Hall on Disney's Boardwalk. On February 3rd, 4th, and 5th, the Valentine's event will take place between 11 AM and 1 PM. Disney characters will be available for photos and Members will receive special treats.  Members must have a stay booked on the day of the event at a Walt Disney World resort or Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Source: DVC News Muppets Courtyard Closure Dates Last August, Disney announced that a new Monster’s Inc land coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios, and now we have a better idea when construction will start. Disney has announced Mama Melrose will close after May 10th, with Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzaRizzo to follow after June 7th.  No expected date for the Monster’s Inc land opening has been announced. Based on the concept art shared, much of this area is expected to remain the same with the two restaurants and the theater being rethemed and repurposed for Monster’s Inc. The new door coaster is expected to be installed beyond the back of the area, so it is quite possible that portions of the area could re-open before the coaster is completed.  Source: Disney Parks Blog Grand California room refurbishment A recent Disney Parks Blog article mentioned all rooms at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will be refurbished this year, including the Disney Vacation Club villas. An image shared in the post shows the arts and crafts style with a brighter look. Exact dates were not shared but based on previous comments, the room refurbishments are expected to start in the spring and are long overdue.  Source: Disney Parks Blog DVC Directs sales for 2024 down from previous two years  Disney Vacation Club direct sales for 2024 showed a 13.9% drop in sales from 2023 with just over 1.9 million points sold. This is still a better number than 5 of the last 13 years, but maybe surprisingly low considering the opening of two new resorts in 2024.  However, December was a strong month, almost double of December 2023 sales, thanks to strong sales at the new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Disney's Riviera Resort sales remain brisk as well, with 83,000 points sold at the former and 67,000 points at the latter. Riviera is now 74% sold, and at current pace should sell out in about 2 years. The Polynesian declared another 14 units on December 10th, with 24% of the resort now declared into inventory.  The Villas at Disneyland Hotel continues to sell at a slow but steady pace of around 20,000 points per month and is 26% sold.  Current rates calculate the resort will be on sale at least 6 more years before it sells out.  Meanwhile The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort continue to be a bust. 5,900 points were sold in December, meaning the total for 2024 of 66,000 points is less than last month sold at either Riviera or Polynesian. DVC changes transfer point rules Disney Vacation Club has added an addendum to the multi-site public offering statement that governs all DVC resorts in regards to the transfer of points. Point transfers are transfers of points between Members. Transfers can only be done once per year per contract, whether transferring points in or out. Points retain their home resort and original use year when transferred and can be used by the receiving owner at the 11-month window.   Previously only points in their original use year could be transferred.  Now all points that are eligible, including points that are banked or borrowed. Note that once points are banked or borrowed, they cannot change use year again and would retain the use year even after the transfer.  Source: DVC News Moonlight Magic Adjustments and 2025 Registration Details Disney Vacation Club has updated registration eligibility guidelines for Moonlight Magic events for Members. Previously, Members were limited to only registering at one event in each park per year. New for 2025, Members will only be allowed to register for one event per “season,” with three seasons announced for 2025 so far. The registration dates were released as well. Early registration is available for Members with an eligible on-site reservation on the day of the event. Winter Season Disney's Hollywood Studios - January 26, 2025 Disney California Adventure - February 3, 2025 Disney's Animal Kingdom - February 12, 2025 Early registration for winter season is on January 15, 2025, followed by general registration on January 17, 2025. Spring Season EPCOT - April 30, 2025 Disney's Typhoon Lagoon - May 20, 2025 Disney's Typhoon Lagoon - June 9, 2025 Early registration for spring season is on February 27, 2025, followed by general registration on March 6, 2025. Summer Season EPCOT - July 17, 2025 Disney's Typhoon Lagoon - August 11, 2025 Disney's Hollywood Studios - September 1, 2025 Early registration for summer season is on May 15, 2025, followed by general registration on May 22, 2025. The intent behind this change is to give more Members opportunities to attend these events. The refurbishment is scheduled to start May 2025, with no definitive end date announced.  Source: DVC News Extended closure for Big Thunder Mountain begins Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for a major refurbishment on January 6th, 2025, and is expected to last about 15 months. The refurbishment includes full replacement of the track and is expected to also include improvements to some of the show scenes. It is unknown if the length of closure will be affected by the Magic Kingdom closure of Rivers of America or the Villains Land expansion.  Source: Walt Disney World website Short pool refurb at Grand Floridian Walt Disney World has announced that the Courtyard Pool at the Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be closed from January 13th to late February for a brief refurbishment. Of the two pools at the Grand Floridian, the Courtyard Pool is at the center of the resort. DVC Removes the Ability to Pay Monthly Dues with Gift Cards Disney Vacation Club has removed from the system the option to enroll in monthly dues payments and still use a gift card to pay dues. In previous years, Members could enroll in monthly autopay and then pay dues each month with a gift card just before the deduction of the payment.  Now, DVC has indicated this will not be an option. In a statement, DVC has shared the following: While you are enrolled in Auto-Pay for Annual Dues, Disney Gift Cards and Disney Rewards Redemption Cards are not acceptable forms of payment per our terms and conditions. To make a payment with a Gift Card or Rewards card, please first un-enroll by selecting My Annual Dues > Manage Auto-Pay > Cancel Autopay. After making your payment, please re-enroll in Autopay by February 14 for any remaining balance due. If you are not re-enrolled in Autopay by February 14, any outstanding Annual Dues balance will be considered past due on February 15, subject to late fees and interest, and due in full. If you removed Autopay to pay in full, please remember to re-enroll if you want to continue with automatic payments for future years. Thanks to DVC News.com for gathering all this information.  Soft goods refresh on Copper Creek is expected to start in late Spring 2025. Changes include a new color palette, more Disney Intellectual Property, artwork, fabrics, and more. 12 to 16 rooms will be taken out of service at a time. The project is expected to take just under 12 months. There is no word on the installation of Murphy Beds. Bay Lake Tower refurb planned in four stages. The current set of rooms is expected to open  All rooms to get murphy style bed. Twin sleepers were added to 1- and 2-bedrooms, NOT studios.  The design of the studios won’t change (galley kitchen). USB ports are being added to rooms. Skybridge will close January 2025, guests will have to go to ground floor to walk to Contemporary. Hard goods for AKV will start in October 2025, starting in Kidani units. Kidani will also refresh the lobby and community hall. Expected to last 9 months. Jambo will start in 2026. Grand Californian hard goods refurbishment is still expected to start in 2025. Saratoga Treehouse villas are planned for late 2025 as well, with Old Key West on deck for 2026.  Board members spoke out about commercial renting of points: Shannon Sakaske, VP, Member Experiences & Club Management: "There’s two types of renting that members do. One that you alluded to, which is ‘I’m not going to use my points this year. They’re going to expire and I want to get some money to offset my dues.’ That’s allowed within our rules. We allow members the flexibility to rent.  The other category is someone who is doing it commercially. They own a lot of points and it’s a frequent occurrence. We are actively figuring out ways to go after that, and stop that to the best of our ability. Hopefully this is not a conversation we will be having in future years. We’re going to go after that and try to remedy it as best we can." Senior Vice President and General Manager Bill Diercksen confirmed that DVC has "added resources to our core team at DVC in order to pursue this and make sure that it is fair" to everyday members. According to Yvonne Chang, Executive Director, Business Operations "We’ve got a whole team of folks focused on this. Hopefully by next year when we have this conversation, we will see some improvement.” In a later session Sakaske was even more direct, saying that while they have no issues with members occasionally renting points, "[y]ou just can’t do it commercially. That is against our rules. We are actively pursuing plans to go after those people and stop that behavior." The Board was also asked about the practice of walking reservations. “Walking” involves booking a reservation weeks or months early, and then adjusting the times on the Resort Tool to ensure you get hard-to-get dates and/or room categories. The board seemed less interested in resolving this issue as the focus seemed to be on not causing “unintended consequences” with any changes. Sakaske said, "[w]e’re aware of that dynamic and the impact that it can have on others who are waiting on the 11-month window to book. We set those rules and we could change it if we find a better approach." Yvonne Chang later added: "One of the responsibilities obviously as a board is always to listen to feedback and act on behalf of the membership as a whole. To make sure that whatever rules are changed are…because of your input and because it benefits everyone. Everything that is done sometimes has unintended consequences." How do we maintain the spirit of what we want, which is fewer calls to the reservation center [or going online] to make the booking? But at the same time, make sure we aren’t creating any unintended consequences." Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge announced Disney Vacation Club officially addressed the construction going on at Fort Wilderness, and it’s what many predicted - DVC has restarted construction on the location of the former Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge.  The project has been renamed Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge and it was announced that plans are to open it sometime in 2027. This location was first announced in 2018 but was postponed indefinitely after the pandemic.  There has been no further information released so it is not known if the construction plans will be similar to what had previously been released for Reflections.  We posted the layout of the resort and some concept art on the Lakeshore Lodge resort page on DVCHelp.com.  The resort originally was going to be a shared cash and DVC resort similar to Boardwalk, showing at least 17 cabins as part of the layout. A Princess and The Frog inspired restaurant was also described.  Source: DVC News New operating hours coming to EPCOT Member Lounge With the new Membership Magic Beyond program, the Disney Vacation Club ImaginAtrium – A Member Lounge at EPCOT will have updated operating hours. Starting January 12th, the normal operating hours will shift an hour earlier from 10 AM to 5PM.  The lounge will then be closed for an hour and re-open for the Membership Beyond benefit with a character Meet and Greet that will run from 6 PM to 9 PM in the lounge. It is not known if there will still be drinks and snacks available during that extra time.   Source: Disney Vacation Club website More info on Membership Magic Beyond Disney Vacation Club has released more information on Membership Magic Benefits, including pricing for discounted park tickets and the option to purchase the Sorcerer Pass with points.  For Walt Disney World, the discounted offering is a 5-day weekday only park ticket that includes a free one-day Water Park benefit. The ticket discount is 5% for some dates and 10% for the remaining dates. Tickets may also be purchased with a park hopper and must be used within 8 days of first use. Tickets are only available for a maximum of 8 people and are restricted to those in the Member's household. (Note: Our sponsor, DVC Resale Market, offers ticket discounts of 10% on all dates with unrestricted use.) For Disneyland, a 3-day weekday only ticket is available up to 35% off, with two pricing options at $330 for dates through December 19th, and $415 through January 1st, 2026. Hopping can be added for $90. Similarly, the tickets have to be used within 13 days of first use and are restricted to those in the Member's household.  Finally, Members can purchase a Sorcerer Pass using 75 points or can renew for 65 points. Current purchase/renewal price is $1079/$929 plus tax. This means you are getting a value of $15.32 per point on new purchase, and $15.22 per point for renewal. Only one person per membership needs to join.  Source: Disney Vacation Club website, DVC News Points Charts released for 2026 For the most part, the points charts for 2026 showed little change from 2025 except for the shifting of holidays. “Standard view” has been changed at most resorts to “Resort View”, with Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa being the exception. At Bay Lake Tower, the room categories are now Resort, Preferred, and Theme Park. At Boardwalk Villas, the room categories changed to Resort, Preferred, and Boardwalk.  At the Boardwalk Villas, Studio points were adjusted slightly throughout the seasons.  Standard weeknights in three lowest categories increased by 1 point. (September, January, May, early December) Standard weeknights in Category 4 lowered by 1 point. (Early February and Summer) Standard weekends in Category 5 lowered by 1 point (October, November) These changes flatten out the weekly rate for the bottom 4 categories, which used to range from 71 to 92 points per night, but now range from 76 to 87 points a night.  At The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) rate increased from $2.87 per point to $2.96 per point. The Grand Villas increased between 2 to 4 points per night. It doesn’t appear any other room categories were lowered accordingly, and the change totals to less than 2,200 points across the whole year. EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth lounge will open “before summer begins” in 2025.  The new villains show coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios will be called “Unfairly Ever After,” opening Summer 2025.  The new Zootopia: Better Together show at Tree of Life Theater is still listed for “Winter 2025.” It's Tough to be a Bug is expected to close after the holiday season.  On May 16, 2025, Disneyland Resort will begin their 70th anniversary celebration with new entertainment. “Walt Disney - A Magical Life” will open in the Main Street Theater in Disneyland. In addition, a new show called “World of Color Happiness” will debut. The Paint the Night parade will also return on this date. DVC 2025 Dues Released On November 21st, Disney Vacation Club released the new dues per point for 2025. Overall, the numbers were pretty much in the normal range with most of the resorts increasing between the 4.0 - 6.0 %. The California resorts actually saw a lower rate with only a 3% increase. The lounge will be named “McKim’s Mile House - a DVC Lounge.”  The name is a nod to former Imagineer and Disney Legend Sam McKim who helped influence the design of Frontierland. It is located in the former location of the Frontierland Shootin' Arcade. Similar to other member lounges, the location will feature comfortable seating for guests, wireless internet, recharging stations for electronic devices and free beverages and snacks.   Source: DVC News Major changes for Muppets announced at Hollywood Studios Disney shared on the Disney Parks Blog that Monstropolis, the new Monsters Inc area coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios, will be taking over the Muppets section, including MuppetVision 3D, PizzaRizzo, and Mama Melrose. The concept art shows the area re-using the existing buildings for new shows and dining experiences. The new door roller coaster will be built behind the existing structures, likely into part of the parking lot.  However, the Muppets will remain in the park and will instead be replacing Aerosmith from Rock and Roller Coaster as the new “hosts” for the ride.   Source: Disney Parks Blog Other DVC announcements Disney Vacation Club announced that Copper Creek resort will undergo their soft goods refurbishment from May to September of 2025.  Murphy style beds have been seen being installed at Bay Lake Tower, confirming their installation in the latest refurb. Disney Sorcerer Pass price increase The cost of the Disney Sorcerer Pass, the annual pass available to Disney Vacation Club Members, increased from $999 to $1079, an $80 increase. The lounge has not changed significantly, mostly a new paint scheme and new seating, but it is available again for those with member benefits. The average price increase was 6-7%. Single day tickets remain on six tiers, with the most expensive single day ticket priced at $206.  A 4-day pass is now $445, and a pre-book Lightning Lane Multi Pass is now $32, up from $30.   Annual passes also increased by up to 20%, though they are currently not available to purchase. Source: Mouse Planet Permanent and extended closes announced for Walt Disney World  This week Walt Disney World announced the first closures related to the replacement of DinoLand USA. On January 12th, 2025, Triceratops Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will be closing. The remaining DinoLand attractions do not have a closing date yet. In addition, an extended closure of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been announced to be closing on January 6th, 2025 and will reopen sometime in 2026 with “a little bit of new magic”. Finally, a delay in the opening of the new version of the Little Mermaid stage show has been announced. Originally planned for fall of 2024, Walt Disney World is now saying this attraction will not open until summer of 2025. The refurbishment is scheduled to last until September 2025. Elevator bank closures have already been experienced and sky bridge closures also expected. In addition, Disney just announced the extended closure of the entire courtyard pool complex of Bay Lake Tower, including the Bay Cove Pool, whirlpool spa and the kids water play, from January to May 2026. A new permit has been filed with the Federal Aviation Administration to erect a 240-foot crane on the site of the stalled Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge project near Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Several other permits have been filed over the last few months which indicate possible construction in the area, but this is the most conclusive to indicate something large-scale may be happening here. DVC announces new 2024 and 2025 Moonlight Magic Dates  In an email to members, Disney Vacation Club announced that members with full membership privileges will soon be able to book a new round of Moonlight Magic dates for 2024, as well as sharing the dates for 2025. First, three new Moonlight Magic events at Disney's Animal Kingdom were announced for the rest of 2024. These dates are listed as October 24, November 21, and December 10, all on Thursdays. Members will be allowed to register for ONE of these events, even if they have already attended a Moonlight Magic in 2024. However, Members may not register for multiple nights. Guests with resort stays will be able to register on September 19th, while guests without reservations can register on October 8th. As for 2025, the following dates were announced: January 26th and September 1st at Disney's Hollywood Studios February 3rd at Disney California Adventure February 12th at Disney's Animal Kingdom April 30th and July 17th at EPCOT May 20th, June 9th and August 11th at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park There is no news of registration dates for the 2025 events.  Source: Member e-mail, Disney Vacation Club website Island Tower begin sales on October 1st The new Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows goes on sale for existing members on October 1st, 2024. The price is listed at $225 per point, which is consistent with Disney's Riviera Resort and The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness. Promotional discounts will likely be announced on October 1st. Early booking will begin on October 15th for existing Members that add on at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows or already own as a Home Resort by calling Member Services. First time DVC buyers will be able to purchase points at the new tower on October 19th, with booking opening on November 5th. On November 19. 2024, reservations for Island Tower can be made with points from other Home resorts, subject to the 7-month window and any resale restrictions. As a reminder the opening date for the resort is December 17, 2024. The resort includes four booking categories: Standard, Preferred, Premium, and Theme Park. Preferred includes partial/full view of lakes, pools, or golf course. Premium is partial/full view of seven seas lagoon. Theme Park has at least partial view of Magic Kingdom. Point charts are similar to Grand Floridian for Standard and Preferred, with Theme Park views higher than most GF rooms. Two-bedroom Penthouses are only a little less than GF grand villas or Poly Bungalows. New Villains show coming to DHS 2025 Disney announced a new Villains show taking over the Sunset Showcase theater in Disney's Hollywood Studios, the current home of Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy. As such, special DVC events during the cruise will not be offered. The 5-night itinerary is as follows: Departure: Fort Lauderdale, Florida Day 2 At Sea Day 3 Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point  Day 4 At Sea Day 5 Disney’s Castaway Cay  Return: Fort Lauderdale, Florida  Booking for this exclusive sailing aboard the Disney Destiny opens on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, at 8:00 AM Eastern Time. These events will take place January through September at three theme parks. Disney After Hours events typically run from 10:00pm to 1:00am at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and 9:30pm to 12:30am at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Attendees can enter the park at 7:00pm. Disney After Hours also feature complimentary snacks including non-alcoholic beverages, ice cream novelties and popcorn, and unique character greet opportunities. Costs range from $155 to $185 depending on park and date. Disney Vacation Club Members and AP holders get a $30 discount on EPCOT and Hollywood Studios dates, but not Magic Kingdom. More details about the Island Tower Disney Parks Blog revealed more details on the new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, which is scheduled to open on December 17th. The tower's restaurant will be called the Wailulu Bar & Grill, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating. Disney describes the restaurant as a casual walk-up pool bar with an all-day menu serving lunch and dinner.  Specialty coffee and on-the-go morning pastries will be available for breakfast. The tower will also feature the Cove Pool and a splash pad called Moana’s Voyage with a sculpture of Moana and her raft.  As seen in the blueprints, but now fully defined, the resort will have four tropical terrace gardens. Each terrace garden will feature vibrant artwork, lush foliage and uniquely themed seating areas. Disney also shared that these oases will have picturesque views, including Seven Seas Lagoon for firework viewing. The image and post confirmed Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America would be replaced to make room for the new attractions. Together, these new additions Construction is expected to start sometime next year.  Source: Disney Parks Blog, Blog Mickey  EPCOT DVC lounge renamed The Disney Vacation Club lounge at EPCOT is being rebranded by Disney as Disney Vacation Club ImaginAtrium - A Member Lounge. Currently the closure of the lounge has lasted longer than planned, with no re-opening date announced. Disney has shared that the lounge will receive a new paint scheme, as well as a new exhibit of archival photos.  Source: DVC News Strong July Direct Sales Disney Vacation Club sold a total of 206,000 points in the month of July, and over 109,000 of those points were for Disney's Riviera Resort. Riviera is now 68% sold and 79% of the resort is declared into inventory.  The Villas at Disneyland Hotel came in second with 35,000 points sold, followed by Disney’s Old Key West Resort with just under 27,000 points. The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort continue to lag, with only 6,500 points sold in July. Announcements from D23 New Horizons Panels The following attractions were confirmed or announced at the D23 panel on Saturday, August 10th. Josh D’Amaro was very specific to say none of these items are “blue sky” but are all in “active development”.  However, this statement still does not necessarily mean they will all happen as announced.  There were no announcements directly related to Disney Vacation Club, though a few new concept images of the Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows were shared at the DVC booth.   EPCOT Test Track Version 3 reopening sometime in 2025. No further images were shared and Disney continues to describe the revamped ride as “inspired by Horizons”. Spaceship Earth Lounge opening sometime in 2025. This is an existing VIP lounge for the sponsor of the ride, but will be open with views of the lagoon for fireworks.  Animal Kingdom Zootopia: Better Zoogether will replace the "It's Tough to be a Bug" at the Tree of Life. Opening is “next winter” so likely this is December 2025 timeframe.  Tropical Americas will be replacing Dinoland. Work begins fall 2025 and expected opening is in 2027.  Dinosaur will be rethemed to an Indiana Jones attraction. The new attraction will be different in theming from Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland in California.  Encanto-themed dark ride focused on the Casita Madrigal on the day that Antonio receives his gift. Concept art makes it look like Omnimover attraction. Central plaza will be called "Puebla Esperanza" or city of hope. Third ride is Carousel theme to Disney horses from different properties.  Quick Service restaurant will be one of the largest in Disney World - replacing Restaurantasaurus. Theme is said to be Columbian inspired.  Hollywood Studios Monsters Inc. themed land.  Work begins in 2025. No target date for opening. Guests will be able to tour the Laugh Factory via the first-ever suspended coaster in a Disney Park. No other attractions or experiences were announced. Location of this is currently unsure but people are theorizing either the Launch Bay/Animation building area or Grand Avenue area. New story coming to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run with The Mandalorian and Grogu. This will coincide with the new movie in 2026. Magic Kingdom New nighttime parade coming summer of 2025 - “Disney Starlight”. Will incorporate music from Wishes.  Pirates of the Caribbean themed tavern confirmed for 2025. Two new Cars-themed attractions coming to Frontierland area. One will be an off-road rally type race over mountains, past geysers and through mud-holes. Second ride will be for “the whole family”. Construction to begin in 2025.  Villains-themed land announced. Two attractions, dining and shopping. No other details except for one image of concept art. No date for starting or opening. Disneyland Park Show in Main Street Opera House with first ever animatronic of Walt Disney. To be played in rotation with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. No date given Tiana's Bayou Adventure will OPEN NOVEMBER 17, 2024 DCA AVATAR land will be themed to second and third movie. First images show a boat ride maybe similar to Shanghai pirates attraction. No date given. COCO boat ride attraction/dark ride. Work set to begin in 2026.  Two Avengers campus rides: "Avengers: Infinity Defense" is the ride with King Thanos and entering the multiverse that had been previously discussed.  “Stark Flight Lab” looks like a Kukla Arm ride (think Forbidden Journey) and Robert Downey Junior will play Tony Stark for the attraction.  Disney Cruise Line Stage show on Disney Destiny will be Hercules. DVC owners can be evicted from premises under new Florida timeshare law  New Florida legislation went into effect on July 1, 2024, that allows management to remove timeshare owners and guests for a wide range of inappropriate conduct including: Illegally possesses or deals in controlled substances Intoxicated, profane, lewd or brawling Indulges in language or conduct which disturbs the peace and comfort of other guests Conduct which injures the reputation, dignity or standing of the establishment Fails to make payment of rent at the agreed-upon time Fails to check out by the agreed-upon time Disney has had issues with being able to remove Disney Vacation Club Members engaging in inappropriate behavior in the past, and this new legislation should allow them to appropriately deal with concerning behaviors. Source: DVC News Jungle Cruise to close for multi-month refurbishment Walt Disney World has announced that the Jungle Cruise attraction will be closing for refurbishment on August 26th.  No reopening date has been shared, but Disney's website states that the attraction is scheduled to reopen for Guests before the winter holidays begin. Currently Jungle Cruise is not listed as part of the attractions open for either Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. The expanded area allows guests to tour models of a deluxe studio and one bedroom villa for Disney's Riviera Resort. The center also offers Members and guests a place to relax with light refreshments, seating, and a balcony overlooking Disney Springs. In addition, the Golden Vine House Disney Vacation Club Welcome Home Center is scheduled to open to the public in Disney’s California Adventure on July 26th. DVC Members will have access to a Members-only preview from 10:30 AM to 6 PM on July 24th and 25th. Members attending will receive a commemorative keepsake and a sweet treat. (OLC), have entered an agreement for OLC to build and operate a Disney-branded cruise business in Japan, beginning in 2029. A new Disney Cruise Line ship will be built of the same class as the Disney Wish, with certain modifications to appeal to Japanese clientele. OLC currently owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort. Walt Disney World also announced dates for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney's Jollywood Nights. Disney Vacation Club's direct purchase incentives remain relatively unchanged, other than new discounts at sold out resorts. Genie+ being replaced with Lightning Lane Multi Pass On June 26th, Disney announced Genie+. As of July 24th, Genie+ will be replaced will be replaced by two Lightning Lane systems: Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass.  Both products will be able to be booked in advance. Starting 7 days before the first day of their trip, Walt Disney World resort guests will be able to book passes for their entire length of stay (up to 14 days).  Non-resort guests will be able to book 3 days in advance of their ticket dates.   Lightning Lane Single Pass will remain consistent with Individual Lightning Lane. We expect that the current rides under this system will also remain the same.  Lightning Lane Multi Pass will basically return to the old FastPass+ system, with the ability to book three ride reservations in advance for each day you purchase the product for a single park. Guests will be able to pick from available one-hour return windows for the rides.  The initial bookings will have tier levels, with one tier one ride and two tier two rides selected each day, for all Walt Disney World parks except Animal Kingdom.  Other than the cost, a major difference between FP+ and Lightning Lane Multi Pass is once you use one of your booked Lightning Lane Multi Passes, guests can start booking additional passes. Additional rides appear to have no tier restrictions and can be booked at a different park.  Source: Walt Disney World website Disney Jollywood Nights returns and MVMCP dates announced After its problems with kickoff last year, Disney's Jollywood Nights hard ticket event at Disney’s Hollywood Studio returns this year with minor tweaks. The event will be held on 13 nights from November 9th to December 21st. The length has been extended to 5 hours instead of 4 and the Virtual Queue for Rise of the Resistance has been dropped. Pricing ranges from $159 to $179. Disney Vacation Club members and Annual Passholders can get a $10 off discount for all dates.  Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party also returns for 25 select nights from November 8th to December 20th. Discounts of $13 per point for new members start at 150 points and $17 per point for existing members at 100 points. In addition, a “Welcome Home” cash discount varies by the number of points purchased. The Villas at Disneyland Hotel have a similar price structure, but start at $239 per point.  With the recent success of Disney's Old Key West Resort discounted direct sales, Disney Vacation Club has added some discounts to some other sold out resorts. Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort current price is $205 a point, but existing Members can save up to $60 per point. Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas at $210 per point and a maximum discount of $55 per point. The all new show will contain many of the same characters, but will feature more of the Disney songbook, with songs such as “Try Everything”, “A Whole New World” and “Bare Necessities”.  Disney Parks Blog shared new images and some of the technology from the new Little Mermaid show at Disney's Hollywood Studios, but the only date provided was still listing it as opening in the Fall. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios is also scheduled to re-open from an extended closure on July 27th. The ride has been closed since January.  Finally, there has been a year+ long permit filed for work on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, extending to August 2025. While unconfirmed, it is expected that the ride will be going down at the end of the summer for a lengthy refurbishment that includes replacing the entire track. Island Tower rooms officially added to existing Polynesian condo association On May 24th, Disney Vacation Club filed an amendment to the existing timeshare license of Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows to add the equivalent of 222 timeshare units. Other sources have indicated that the new building would have 268 rooms, but the discrepancy between the two is probably due to two bedroom lockoffs. If 46 of the rooms would be two-bedroom lock-offs, then both numbers can be correct.  DVC has not announced when sales will begin, but this filing signals that this may be close. It also confirms that the new rooms will be part of the existing condo association, and owners of this resort will have 11-month priority across the entire resort.  Source: DVC News Polynesian Island Tower opening date and cash rates  Disney Parks Blog shared an official opening date of December 17, 2024, along with photos and a video of the room designs for the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The deluxe studios will include a small dishwasher, the first for DVC studios.  Cash rates are now available, and room categories of standard, preferred, and theme park are listed for Duo studios, Deluxe studios, and one-bedrooms. During that time, a temporary lounge will be open in the Odyssey Events Pavilion, which is typically used during the EPCOT Food and Wine Festivals. Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park was only mentioned as opening "later this year".  Source: Disney Parks Blog New details of the Polynesian Tower On Friday, May 11th, Disney released the first details of the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. This 10-story tower overlooking the seven seas lagoon is scheduled to open in December 2024 and will feature a variety of room types that will sleep from two to nine guests, such as duo studios, spacious one- and two-bedroom villas and brand-new two-bedroom penthouse villas. Cash booking for the resort will begin on June 4th for Disney Vacation Club Members, June 5th for Annual Passholders, and June 6th for the general public. On-sale dates, points charts, and the exact opening date of the property have not been released. Source: Disney Parks Blog Policy changes at Fort Wilderness Disney has updated some of their policies around golf carts, bikes, and RV rentals at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Guests may only rent golf carts from directly from Disney. Guests can provide their own golf carts, but starting June 1st, guests must provide proof of liability insurance with $100,000 individual and $300,000 overall minimum.  Drivers must be at least 16 years old and have a valid license. Each passenger must have their own seat. (No lap sitting.)    Bikes are allowed but must have headlights and taillights and be manually powered (no e-bikes). RVs can only be rented from one of Disney’s featured providers. They can be delivered without the guest being present by arrangement.  Additionally, beginning July 13, 2024, horseback riding will be temporarily unavailable Monday through Friday due to construction. Rides may be available on Saturdays and Sundays during this time. Expect announcements on the Disneyland Resort expansion at the D23 in August, though it is possible that the new parking structure work could begin even sooner.  Source: Disney Parks Blog Permit on Reflections extended 5 years During the COVID pandemic in 2020, Disney Vacation Club halted construction on a proposed project, Reflections - a Disney Lakeside Lodge. On May 8th, DVC submitted a request to the South Florida Water Management District to extend its construction permits for an additional 5 years. If approved, the construction window would be extended to May 29, 2029. While this move doesn’t confirm that constructions on Reflections will resume, it does indicate that DVC is still considering a resort for that site.  Source: DVC News Disney declares additional Cabins to Fort Wilderness DVC On April 3, Disney Vacation Club declared 33 more cabins for use at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, for a total 63 cabins available for booking on points. Disney changes made to the DAS system on both coasts Disney is implementing changes to the Disability Access Service (DAS) registration process at Walt Disney World on May 20th and at Disneyland on June 17th. Visits prior to these dates will not be affected. Highlights are below: Guests who have medical conditions that are not developmental disabilities will be accommodated in different ways. It will be beneficial (especially at Walt Disney World) to request a DAS via a virtual chat prior to a trip. Cast Members from both Florida and California will be joined by employees from Inspire Health Alliance, who will help determine the approval of a guest’s request if needed. Guest Services will not be assisting with DAS requests in person starting May 20 at Walt Disney World.  Disneyland will continue to offer an on-site DAS cast member, but it is recommended to use the pre-screen process.  Current DAS holders will need to re-apply. The DAS party size is limited to 4 guests with exceptions for immediate family members. DAS needs to be renewed in 120 days; previously, it was 60. The actual function of DAS setting return times while in the park using the My Disney Experience App will remain the same. The intent is to reduce abuse and overuse. DAS use has tripled over the last five years. Source: Touring Plans Disneyland Forward passes the Anaheim city council board vote unanimously  On April 16th, the Anaheim City Council voted unanimously to approve the plans for DisneylandForward, the massive $2 Billion expansion planned around Disneyland. A second council vote is needed to finalize the plan is required in May, but once that passes Disney will be able to start moving on these changes. This is expected to be the biggest change to the California parks since the opening of Disney’s California Adventure.  Source: NBC News LA March sales data indicates continued slow sales for the cabins DVC News shared their monthly data on direct DVC sales for the month of March. While The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort sales went up compared to the previous month, March was the first full month of sales for the resort. The Cabins only sold 12,326 points over 94 contracts. This brings the two month total to 19,485 points out of the 2.8 million points at the resort. If this month is any indication on the pace of sales, the cabins will take just under 20 years to sell. However, there could be a bump in sales next month due to improved incentives across the board.  On the bright side for Disney, Disney’s Riviera Resort sales had the most sales with 72,275 points, which is well above the previous 12-month average. This is also the average pace at which the resort has sold since 2019, and if continued, the resort should sell out in the next three years. Villas at Disneyland Hotel sales were also better than the Cabins, though only a little more than 16,000 points were sold. After almost a full year of sales, the resort is close to 20% sold.  Source: DVC News EPCOT Food and Wine festival shortened Disney has announced that the EPCOT International Food and Wine festival will run from August 29th to November 23rd. This period is almost seven weeks shorter than in 2023, when the festival started July 15th. It’s been a few years since the festival started as late as Labor Day weekend. No reason was given by Disney, but perhaps they have seen softening attendance in the summer for the festival while it remains extremely popular during the fall season. The usual parts of the festival -  the food booths, Eat to the Beat concerts, and Remy’s Hide and Squeak scavenger hunt - all were part of the announcement. The new festival center was also mentioned to be part of events this year.  Source: Disney Parks Blog Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Media previews scheduled While not an official opening date, many outlets are sharing that media previews for Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom will occur June 8th through the 11th. Media events for attraction openings are usually done after Cast Member previews and either right before or after Disney Vacation Club and Annual Passholder previews. Test Track set to close June 17th for extended refurbishment On April 5th, Disney announced that Test Track will be closing for refurbishment on June 17th. The ride will be updated with a “World of Motion” inspired make-over. There is no word on how long the closure will be, but it is expected to last at least a year.   Source: Walt Disney World website Roundup Rodeo BBQ added to DVC discount dining list with 10% discount Many restaurants on property provide a 10% discount for Disney Vacation Club Members and Annual Passholders. Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios has now been added to that list! First opening in March 2023, this is the first time a discount for DVC members has been available at this restaurant.  Source: DVC News, Disney Vacation Club website DVC Direct incentives being increased for Spring 2024 Disney Vacation Club is streamlining their new member and existing member discounts.  New members can receive a $13 per point discount on any purchase of 150 points or more on all four currently for sale resorts. In addition, a “Welcome Home” credit is also added for buyers buying 150 points or greater, starting at $2000. This usually applies to those buying points on-site.  Similarly existing members are looking to get $17 per point discount starting at 100 points, with the additional “Welcome Home” credit added starting at 150 points.  DVC is also offering deep discounts on points at Disney's Old Key West Resort. With a base price of $205 per point, existing members can take advantage of $40 per point discount for 150 points which is $165 per point. A 500-point contract would get an $80 per point discount down to $125 per point. The model still indicates Encanto and Indiana Jones attractions, as well as what appears to be a Coco-inspired carousel.  While there is no current timeline for in-park construction, permitting has been submitted to start prepping a backstage area with trailers and storage.  In addition, Disney is expected to begin filing permits for the “Beyond Big Thunder” expansion will be filed within the next few weeks.  Anything beyond this should be considered rumor for now. Vero Beach Character Breakfast returns  Starting April 20th, the character breakfast will return to Winds and Waves at Disney's Vero Beach Resort every Saturday. This breakfast was a regularly scheduled event prior to COVID, but now will return with a new menu. Goofy and Pluto will be making the rounds in their beach gear while guests enjoy tasty menu items like “Banana’s Foster French Toast” and “The Treasure Omelet”. Breakfast hours are from 8 AM to noon and are now available for booking.   Source: Disney Parks Blog $2 Billion Disneyland Forward Project passes Anaheim planning board approval On March 11th, the Anaheim Planning Commission voted 5-1 to approve a proposed $1.9 billion expansion plan for Disneyland Resort known as "DisneylandForward". As we’ve discussed before, the plan would expand both parks around the Disneyland hotel while also adding new parking and highway access ramps. It also includes potential for more hotel rooms as well as 150 new DVC rooms.  Source: DVC news Critter Country closing at Disneyland May 1st  Critter Country at Disneyland will be closing temporarily starting May 1st to finish the construction of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, including the addition of two new themed stores. Among the changes, “Ray’s Berets” will replace “The Briar Patch” as a place for Disney apparel and toys and themed to Ray the firefly and his family. “Louis’ Critter Club” takes over the left half of Pooh Corner with more apparel, accessories, home decor. Disneyland’s Tigger Tails will remain. The Winnie the Pooh attraction will be closed during this time as well, but no changes to the attraction are expected. The Hungry Bear is expected to remain open.  Source: Disney Parks Blog DVC Member Cruise announced for 2025  Disney Vacation Club announced the 2025 Member Cruise, a 5-night cruise on the Disney Dream featuring a stop at Cozumel, Mexico, a day at Castaway Cay and two days at sea.  Booking will begin on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10:00am Eastern Time. No pricing has been announced yet. In order to book a DVC cruise, members are required to qualify for Membership Extras. Only qualifying points can be used to book the member cruise and at least one member must book with points. Cash rates will also be available. The ship, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will have a “Heroes and Villains” theme, drawing on the legacies of beloved Disney stories, characters and theme park attractions. Onboard, guests will encounter both heroes and villains. Source: Disney Parks Blog EPCOT CommuniCore Plaza opens with special Encanto concert The re-imagining of EPCOT will finally be complete with all the construction walls down and the full opening of the CommuniCore Hall, Mickey and Friends character greet and the new CommuniCore Plaza Stage. This area will be the home base for EPCOT's festivals, and as a celebration there will be a new limited-time show “¡Celebración Encanto!” from June 10th to September 6th. The show will run several times throughout the day and will include opportunities to sing along with favorite songs and see Mirabel and Bruno. New Resort Perk for 2025 applies to DVC stays Disney has announced a new resort stay benefit for 2025 bookings. Disney is offering complimentary water park admissions on guests' arrival day at a Disney resort. This perk will also apply to DVC member reservations on arrival day. There is currently no indication how this benefit would be affected by a split stay at different resorts, or even at the same resort in a different room category. More details will be available “later in 2024” according to the Disney website.  Note that extra parks hours were also extended through 2025, including the deluxe evening hours which will still be available to DVC guests.  Source: Disney Parks Blog Soarin’ Around the World returned February 28th Soarin’ over California has now left the building! As of February 28th, Soarin’ around the World has returned to Epcot. The original show had returned as part of the 100th anniversary celebration. Source: Plan Disney New DVC welcome center opens at Disney Springs Disney Vacation Club has introduced a new "Gateway to Discovery" store. The building features largely an open space with a globe dominating the center and artwork representing many of the destinations available through DVC. Plans call for additional facilities to be added on the second floor for Members and guests. The expansion will open later this spring. This space is not expected to be the additional member lounge which was announced back in January. Source: DVCNews.com New Star Tours destinations coming April 5th Starting April 5th, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will offer some all-new adventures. These new additions will feature characters and locations from some of your favorite Disney+ new series such as “Ahsoka,” “Andor,” and “The Mandalorian.” With these additions, the attraction provides the opportunity to experience one of more than 250 storyline variations aboard the attraction, including a visit to the planet Peridea from the Ahsoka series. The return of 1900 Park Fare Disney announces that 1900 Park Fare is re-opening at Disney's Grand Floridian on April 10th after being closed for more than four years. Characters will now include an eclectic mix of Cinderella, Aladdin, Tiana (in her new look from Tiana's Bayou Adventure), and Mirabelle from Encanto as they celebrate the “power of a wish.” The artwork throughout the restaurant has also been updated, with a continued theme of a Merry-Go-Round. Breakfast and dinner will both be available, and special favorites including the Strawberry Soup will still be on the menu.  Reservations are expected to Open March 5th.  Source: Disney Parks Blog DVC Meet & Treat Event for Valentine’s Day Disney Vacation Club announced another “Meet and Treat” Member event at the Atlantic Dancehall, similar to the event offered for Halloween. The event will be held on four dates in February, the 13th and 14th, as well as the 20th and 21st, from 2PM to 4PM.  These events involve meet and greets with two or three special characters and treats for members. Disney commits to $1.9 Billion for Disneyland forward On January 23rd, Anaheim announced that Disney has committed to spending a minimum of $1.9 billion and up to $2.5 billion on the Disneyland Forward project should Anaheim city council approve the project. Money would be spent on "theme park lands, attractions, hotels, shopping and dining west of Disneyland Drive and on the Toy Story parking lot." From the Orange County Register:  “The DisneylandForward proposal calls for Disney to pay $40 million for portions of Magic Way, Clementine Street, Gene Autry Way and Hotel Way to clear the way for the proposed theme park expansion. The plan also calls for Disney to build a 17,000-space eastside parking structure with direct connections from the Santa Ana (I-5) Freeway that would be larger than the combined Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures." The DisneylandForward proposal is scheduled for Anaheim Planning Commission hearings in March with a vote by the Anaheim City Council in May. Source: Orange County Register, DisneylandForward website Pricing, Maintenance Fees, and Incentives for the Cabins  The newest Disney Vacation Club resort, the Cabins at Fort Wilderness has opened for sales to existing members, and with that, we have more information on pricing, maintenance fees and incentives. First off, the starting price for the cabins is $225 per point, which is the same current price as Disney's Riviera Resort and Aulani.  Initial incentives are not particularly impressive, with a 100 point contract receiving a mere $2 discount, and 150 point contract with a $10 discount. The biggest news is that the maintenance fees for 2024 have been released, and the initial rate is a whopping $12.16. This is the second highest priced maintenance fees of DVC resorts. There were no real surprises with the announcement except that the central area will be known as Celestial Park and will have two restaurants and three rides including a dueling roller coaster. The other lands are Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic, How to Train your Dragon - Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe featuring Universal's Classic Monsters. No real details on the rides or attractions in the various lands were released. Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Opening Date, Point Charts, and Sales Date Revealed Disney Vacation Club revealed new details on the The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. The new DVC resort is projected to open on July 1st. Sales begin for existing Members on February 1st and for new Members on February 27th. Existing Members who add-on can book reservations as early as February 15th. New members can book beginning on March 12th. Reservations will be open to all DVC members on April 23rd. Point charts range from 111 points per week in September to 232 point per week for the Christmas and Easter holidays.
