The penultimate episode of FateBreakers. The Circle breaks through Hundred Venom Stinger's defenses to face him and his Deathlord backer in person. With half a dozen other enemy Exalted backing them, victory is up to chance. Even with Broken Gear's reinforcements, a Third Circle Demon war general, and Gorgamoth as a turncoat silver bullet. The city itself still fights back. With Gorgamoth felled and Fallen Star's strike force exorcised from the behemoth's body, our Circle has a golden opportunity to harness their new ally towards piercing the Deathlord's immortality clauses and defeat her for good. Before the Final Battle and dual assaults on Stinger's lair and El Dorado can take place, the Circle must first survive the behemoth's assault. And while no such creature can be called ordinary, this is one enhanced and possessed by a half dozen Exalted and a Deathlord all at the same time. In an April Fool's Day episode released a few days early, the Circle communes at Zen-Mu's Urdr wellspring to seek aid and advice from otherworldly sources. Fallen Star and Stinger's plans have attracted many an eye from other worlds: some are willing to prevent the coming disaster, and others would happily throw firedust on the pile if they can trick the Exalted Host into opening the door...   Gavel stands up for her troops against an enemy greater than even the Deathlords themselves, and finds herself at odds with Ululaya over a serious clash with some of the Ashen Ones' priorities! In an effort to convince Sky Sundering Shadow to avoid irrevocably breaking the Elemental Pole of Fire, the Circle accompanies her there. In person. While her preparations prevent our heroes from immediately dying when they get there, surviving the heat of the literal hottest place in Creation still is a major obstacle! And that's not even getting into the army of fire spirits near the Pole, and Heshiesh himself is at the very top of it! Having successfully escaped Prasad after their sabotage of the Kamthahar's jade stores, the Circle begins their preparations to take on the Dreaming Sea's resident Deathlord. In the aftermath of Total Annihilation being invoked on Kamthahar's jade stores, the Circle is confronted by the rani-satrap herself, alongside the strongest Exalted she can bring to bear. Our heroes have succeeded in eliminating Prasad's famed jade stores, taking their big red button off the table. Now they just have to get out alive so they can get around to saving all of Creation.   Gavel faces down Galick once more, striving to regain her stolen power and free Aura's lower soul from the conjured warstrider the Liminal brings to bear! With all the chaos from the rapidly expanding shadowland from their escape from Fallen Star, the Circle has the perfect opportunity to break into the crown jewel of Prasad's most key holding: their literal mountain of jade. Even with the majority of Dragonbloods being distracted with the new rift in the Underworld covering a quarter of their capitol, their infamous surplus of one of the magical materials is not completely unguarded. That Alchemical from Mobo's retinue is still here, planning to give Prasad a steady supply of specific supernal might...and a far greater power is planning to replenish lost numbers as well.   Gavel finally gets within arm's reach of one of her life's goals: but can she live with the fallout of her final choice? In the Underworld, at the borders of Kamthahar, a horrifyingly dangerous faceoff is taking place. The Circle makes a move on Shrike's holdout in Kamthahar, wisely calling that the secret Abyssal is unwise to leave alone in the midst of all of their gurellia efforts against Prasad. Except...that holdout is more of...a stronghold. A Void Circle necromancy construct just...showed up in the Kamthahari Underworld mirror, a manifestation of imperial sins come home to roost. The firedust keg's fuel line has been lit: it's up to the Ashen Ones to snuff it out before it hits the dynamite.   Lythander risks being offered up as a sacrifice to secure deathly protection against Shrike's forces, and discovers just how complicated Underworld politics can get! Gavel tests the authority of the Yozi against the Neverborn, and finally meets her biggest rivals face to face after a whole campaign worth of buildup! Aura solves puzzles that are somehow both over and under complicated, and somehow manages to hide her Anathema status from an Immaculate monk for an entire session! And so does everyone else, the dice really didn't like that Dragonblood! Shrike has way more than just himself in his fortress of doom, it turns out: perhaps...an entire Circle of threats. It turns out that it's the end of Descending Wood when the Circle got to Prasad, which means it's time for a very unusually...sensual festival! As our heroes scamper around Kamthahar for intel to begin their raid on the Dragonblooded kingdom's jade reserves, they realize that Shrike's background plans are more immediately dangerous than they assumed.   Lythander seduces a very legitimate shopkeeper (no, not like that) to trade favors (again, not like that) for Artifacts that definitely aren't stolen! Gavel turns a war room into a war conference hall with all the intricacies of Prasadi and Realm politics she encounters: to get out of this guerilla raid alive, she'll need to use all of this information wisely indeed! Aura visits a hobby shop and learns some really bad news about El Dorado: the messed up hell immortality city has been subject to...corporate espionage! Nellens Liza breaks it to the Circle that the Realm's firedust keg is, somehow, exponentially bigger than the one the whole Dreaming Sea is right now! And, as hinted above, Shrike's exact plans become clear: if he wins, BOTH sides of this war lose. The Circle and their mustered forces march towards Kamthahar! After one or two extra stops along the way! As FateBreakers begins its final act, so too does the Circle begin their counter-attack on the Empire of Prasad. After an all too brief respite and triage from fending off that devil star and her Sidereal handler, our heroes address Madara and the Tiger's Nest Coalition to chose targets and onboard further allies. Including a faction from undersea with close ties to former ally Mind-Over-Body Orator. But are he, and they, really still allies? The Circle approaches the Tiger's Nest Coalition, in hopes of building up an alliance to take on the Empire of Prasad directly. Getting there isn't the hard part, after escaping She Who Lives In Her Name's vengeful worldbody and hopping back into Creation. The hard part is that Prasad already has feelers out: even unaware of the extent of the Ashen Ones' victory over the Wyld Hunt, a polity with thousands of Dragonbloods and divine backers at their disposal have a wide reach. The assorted background schemes of the All-Thing have officially begun, as the corrupted Peaches of Immortality begin to make rounds at the con venue. Our Circle faces off against the rival Circle of Adrian Wheel-Turner, the Ouroborous, and Hundred Venoms Stinger...in a football match! To check off all the many, many bullet points on their to-do list, the Circle and the Ashen Ones venture into Cecelyne, ready to endure a hellish five day trek to get to...well, Hell. The Circle prepares to march on the Ouroboros's pocket dimension underneath Palanquin, in hopes of freeing everyone trapped in their nightmare shadow realm. But even if getting there is simple, another curveball lies in waiting. Another Solar crosses paths with our party, and unlike Amir, this one may prove to not be as friendly. Well, as "friendly" as Amir gets, anyways. Point is, this one's allied with Ouroborus and Hundred Venoms Stinger, so they're not a friend for sure! Also, there's still the problem of unsealing the locked gateway to Malfeas to get to HellCon in time!   Gavel gets hit with a tragic vision of the future, and struggles to reconcile her rosy view of her bosses with the mounting realization of how much Hell sucks to live in! Lythander gets radicalized by a magical flyer and has to taste his own trickster medicine when Spider and Dolam start pressing his buttons! Aura climbs a moving mountain, kills an evil wizard, and has a weird ranged martial arts duel with a singing jade demon lion! But, weirdest of all, her greatest challenge this episode: having to comfort a friend in need during a stress-induced nervous breakdown! Tepet Etep's Creation-wide capers reach the party, and other forces of Malfeas begin to breach their prison to wreak havoc in our heroes' path! Something is very wrong in Hell. The Umbral who appeared there is twisting the foremost souls of the Yozi against each other, inserting the worst elements of humanity and physical needs into the architects of Creation itself. The Circle did it! They beat the Wyld Hunt! Now to deal with the aftermath of having to finish Novari's play and end things off without having to execute anyone! That is, if they can stop Novari from getting executed first! Also, they still have to trick Heaven into thinking Gavel died in the final battle for this all to work! But, assuming all that works out, the gang can finally rest! Maybe! If their own allies don't end up ruining all their hard work in an attempt to "help" settle matters!   Aura helps Nue come to terms with her rocky history with Ysyr, and confronts Amir on his tendencies to go way, way too far with solving whatever he deems as "problems!" Lythander rolls a, quite frankly, SILLY amount of successes in Novari's grand finale, and realizes that Spider might be just as dangerous when he's trying to help the Circle as when he opposes them! Gavel learns of new developments in Malfeas that disturb even the Yozi themselves, and gets a sweet new sorbiquet! One way or another, the Wyld Hunt ends this episode. Prasad's forces launch their ultimate invasion on the Maw of Cecelyne. With the Circle only barely recovered from their costly victory over Joktan, and the Ashen Ones worn down by Malik's siege and prior injuries in battle, the Dragonblooded host might just be able to defeat our heroes. Especially with the final ace-in-the-hole they have up their sleeve. Or, rather, in their fleet. Can Aura keep protecting everyone and stop the oncoming massacre, especially given Orphis Shineback comes back and gets that Righteous Devil Stylist faceoff with her? Lythander squares off against Giatsu: which of his player's characters will come out on top? Gavel had a rematch with Malik: with both of them weary from wounds and Intimacy-destroying magics respectively, which of them will still be alive when the dust settles? Will Spider finally stop being turned into a joke by terrible dice rolls, and actually get to show why Dusk Caste Abyssals are horrifying threats in warfare? What is Sky Sundering Shadow's secret weapon, and is the creation of Third Circle Necromancy more trouble than it's worth? Joktan finally takes to the field of battle herself. She already caused a complete party wipe in the First Age: can the Circle prevent a similar TPK in the Age of Sorrows? It definitely won't be easy fighting an elder Celestial Exalt with two different Sidereal Martial Arts styles and Second Circle Sorcery at her disposal, and that's without counting the Wyld Hunt detachment she has as an honor guard! But there's still a chance! Our heroes can still prevail-they'll just have to break fate to do so! While our Circle prevailed against the Wyld Hunt's recent offensive, the victory was a costly one, and Joktan aims to strike before our heroes have time to recover to flip the table on the Ashen Ones. Namely, by clashing the Gaol's time-bending magics with her own Emerald Gyre of Aeons style, and cashing in a favor from the Directional Censor of the Dreaming Sea. Even with Aura's sealed oath compelling the Sidereal to the meeting table, she is far from done trying to sabotage present and future ventures, and this lesser elemental dragon is throwing a wrench into things too. Can the Circle repel another frighteningly powerful spirit to focus back on the Wyld Hunt? Or perhaps even...actually negotiate as planned?   Lythander begins to further tweak his mushrooms for offensive (and civil) purposes, and finally gets some use out of the dozen or so curse-shape familiars he's gathered over the course of the story! Aura receives another reminder of just how much damage the El Dorado project her First Age self caused, and plays tower defense with Jeffery against the Iselsi's iceberg maker onslaught! Gavel finally realizes her plan to raze Yu-Shan indiscriminately might in fact be a bad thing and has to find a way through a disturbing geass to safeguard Novari's minimum casualties rom-com plan! Spider continues to be a bad influence on everyone, but that might be an advantage after he deleted one of Malik's key Intimacies! And regardless of how many hat tricks Joktan has, that number can't be infinite! With Iolda sent packing back to Malfeas, the Wyld Hunt immediately resumes trying to kill the Circle and their allies as soon as they can. And the Dragonblooded host of Prasad are finally taking to the field to do the job themselves! Naturally, this only sort of looks like normal warfare, when you have bound elementals, magical naval superweapons, and a First Age suit of powered armor on your side. It might be too much for Gavel, Lythander, and Nue's protective wards on their behemoth island to take. Can they hold the line with their own strength? Or will the Wyld Hunt manage to take these Anathema down?   Aura makes a new animal friend and goes for a nice, relaxing swim! Lythander cuts yet another dramatic speech short and fights to save his mushroom children from a horrifying Wood Essence-powered weapon of war ! Gavel gives all the Ashen Ones a supernatural upgrade, finally exchanges blows with General Malik, and falls down a big hole! Spider actually manages to land one of his Albicant Sepulcher of Extinction attacks, and to incredibly useful (and scary) effect! Nue fights a raincloud! Malik proves why sufficiently powerful Dragonblooded are threats to even the Celestial Exalted! Despite the crew's best efforts, Joktan managed to use her final contingency to drag Iolda, Third Circle Demon, and the Second Soul of She Who Lives In Her Name into Creation. Well, at least the Wyld Hunt called that ceasefire after all! With only the Eclipse truce field keeping the demon prince at bay, it's up to nearly a dozen Chosen to work together to fend off Iolda's horrifying powers and send him back to Malfeas before the entire Dreaming Sea explodes.   Lythander struggles with swallowing his pride and preference for violent solutions, and Gnosis egging him on constantly to cause a TPK definitely doesn't help! Aura puts her silver tongue to the ultimate test in verbal sparring with Iolda, and also with herding all these cats batting at the ultimate powder keg collection! Gavel confronts Malik and prepares the Ashen Ones for Novari's grand romcom performance: only a Bollywood dance number could possibly win this war bloodlessly! Someone finally asks Sky Sundering Shadow about her grand plan to remake the world: turns out it might have a few big, planet-shattering problems with it! The consequences of Spider breaking his grand oath to Aura begin to manifest, as his martial arts duel with the Shepherd goes wildly off the rails! With the Wyld Hunt successfully on to Joktan's scheme to summon and assassinate Iolda, their "captured" Infernal decides now is a good time to drop the act and harvest as much blood for the summoning ritual as possible. The Circle debates on whether or not they should help the people trying to kill them in service of stopping a much greater evil. And, for that matter, how to stop him. Gnosis has a lot of backup plans, it turns out!   Aura duels her greatest opponent yet: someone as equally skilled on the battlefield as they are with wordplay! Let's see if she can disarm both of Gnosis's skillsets at the same time-it may be the only way to stop the conflict in any way approaching a peaceful resolution! Lythander learns why making an Abyssal your friend is possibly more dangerous than being their enemy, and almost gets the entire party (and the surrounding countryside) killed! Gavel has a very frustrating conversation with one of her bosses and runs afoul of the law! Exe is still around, somehow, and faces the most dangerous trial this entire story so far: being Spider's babysitter! General Malik has to prioritize which Anathema to go after first, and whether or not that list includes that Sidereal trying to order him around constantly! With a few key victories already under their belt, the Circle enacts a clever scheme to expose Gnosis's trickery and (hopefully) end this war without further demon-attracting bloodshed. Surprisingly enough, however, the army of religious fanatics won't back down easily, and Joktan has horrifying backup plans in the wings to ensure she can still draw the war out for her win condition. Also, the April Fools day interlude was canon after all-now there's also Spider ('s comatose body) to deal with.   Lythander puts some valuable time aside to tend to his mushroom garden; in doing so, he almost gets everyone killed before the Wyld Hunt can do it! Gavel gets into a heated discussion with Exe on what to do with Spider, and somehow the joke episode edgelord robotman becomes the most reasonable member of the cast! Aura makes a big press conference to the Wyld Hunt to explain the Third Circle Demon thing, only for Joktan to hit her with horrifying countermeasures! The Wyld Hunt's latest strike is a surprise elemental hyperweapon out of nowhere!
