In diesem Jahr kaufte er seine ersten Platten und setzte den Grundstein für seine Vinyl-Sammlung. Diese wurden dann regelmäßig mit dem DJ-Set eines langjährigen Freundes zum rotieren gebracht und fleißig verschiedene DJ-Skills erkundet und angeeignet. Peu at peu kam dann auch die erste eigene DJ-Technik (Turntable & Mixer) hinzu. Es dauerte nicht lange und es wurden die ersten Schritte als DJ in der Clubszene gemacht. Musikalisch fühlt sich Kay Funk in der Hip-Hop, Funk, Breakbeat, House/Electro und Drum & Bass Musik heimisch und gestaltet seine Sets genremäßig recht bunt. Er ist ebenso ein Teil „Der Montagsmaler“, ein Rap-Kollektiv aus Halle. Diese veranstalten jeden Monat eine offene Rap-Cypher, für welche Kay Funk jeden ersten Montag im Monat Beats auflegt. Ebenso ist Kay Funk ein Teil des Hip-Hop Duos „Deux Messieurs De Phonk“ und Mitbegründer des halleschen Hip-Hop Labels Styler Berg. 🎞️ youtu.be/39lTpmlayzc Episode 94 of Outro Podcast captures Augsburg at night — a walking tour through its canals and old town, soundtracked by a Dub Techno DJ set by @juergen-dietrich_jd. @juergen-dietrich_jd Being a regular guest in Frankfurt’s techno and house clubs in the early 90s, JD discovered and developed his passion for electronic music. Soon he had to get his own setup of 1210 turntables to get going – no way back then... From 1996 on he served his guests nicely mixed ambient sounds while also being a cocktail mixer at Wiesbaden’s legendary “Der Mensch verlässt die Erde”. Moving to another hip and progressive spot in town, he lived up to that very clubs claim: “2SE – 2 Serve Electronics”. And he did: The ornament-ridden rooms of the former Chinese restaurant saw him cutting down the almost cheesy atmosphere to pure minimalist house, trimmed with some selected electronica. In the following years JD played many radio gigs at hr XXL Chillout show or the “Chillout Weekends”. The lounges at Bingens “Palazzo” or breakbeat parties like “Knietief in Beats” had him acting the part: JD – a professional tranquilizer. Upon today, his versatile musical repertoire guarantees him regular bookings in several other clubs in the Rhein-Main area. In club context percussive, groovy house and techhouse sets are his trademark. His musical skills were in demand for his next job with “Nordisk Club” events. JD was responsible for artist booking as well as contributing his DJ sets to those legendary events of the Frankfurt underground electronic scene. After that, JD was a weekly resident at Sven Väth’s Cocoon Club, where he pleased the “Silk” an “Micro” guests in the early evening with ambient sounds and later on with house tunes – a style showcased on the mixed compilation “Silk Pearls 2” (Cocoon Recordings). Despite having been in the industry since 2003, Anna's sound remains fresh. Over the years, she has delved deep into the hidden paths of DJing, creating an atmosphere that is characterized by moments of 'touching the endless.' Anna is known for her strong techno sets at Berghain and eclectic combinations of house and uncategorized broken rhythms at Phi, Tel Aviv. Her sets are characterized by a strong club energy. Anna has a unique approach to music, treating all electronic genres as one and selecting tracks through her own 'honesty prism'. Originally from Ukraine, she moved to Israel in 1995. In the early 2000s, she began organizing raves in Jerusalem while studying art. Since 2003, together with Tsaji Soussana, Anna has been running Pacotek, a project that has had a significant impact on the underground scene in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. In 2018, he was one of the founders of einausflug.de, now one of the city's most thriving underground music event collectives. When Hendrik told his girlfriend that he was supposed to write something about the nightlife in Bonn, she said, that there was nothing to write about. Starting out as a conscious rap and funk DJ, I currently play mostly broken electronic sounds with a lot of bass from jazzy to cheesy. I also try to produce tracks like that but yeah, it’s not that easy :). For me, Nuremberg's nightlife is strongly linked to DIY culture. There are so many diverse crews and collectives shaping the night (and sometimes the day). While it seems to be rather quiet in the city, especially in the city center, you can be sure that there is always something going on in the surrounding neighborhoods. Sometimes I think if it's the city's industrial history that's responsible for the strong (electronic) music scene here. And sometimes I wonder whether it's because of the Bavarian government that the scene has to organize itself so often on a voluntary basis. Either way, it's there and it's beautiful. I met good people there, who helped me cope with depression, panic attacks and the faith I had lost. Jerusalem at night is an incredible city and like no other place on earth. It can be frightening first to see heavily armed security guards and CCTV basically everywhere, even to the point where they stopped me from filming and searched my backpack. He’s always been drawn to electronic sounds but it took him 26 years before he actually dove into the genres of house, tech house and finally techno. Not long after being an enthusiastic guest at raves he decided to become a DJ and a host at events. Borrowing a very basic DJ controller from a friend he started learning the technical skills and then organized smaller raves. There he met the right companions for an even bigger idea: creating a cultural club for supporting the needs of the rave community and to form a network that could help create safe and sustainable spaces that had been diminished by economic motives. Since 2021, the community of EinKlang has been growing and Andy has refined his sound from a more playful style in the beginning to darker sounds. His focus is primarily on tech house and techno, where he combines high energy with a solid groove and interesting sound design ideas. Nonetheless, his love for electronic music doesn’t stop there and he occasionally finds new jewels in other sub genres such as minimal tech or downtempo. For this set, he tried to show the sinister side of his city which is usually a place of joy and happiness at daytime. This deep tech and techno selection will convey his feeling of Mainz: often you don’t get the night’s energy easily presented, you rather have to look out for it. It was immediately blocked for copyright infringement In the mix were two songs licensed by the label Pias which did not allow us to use them for this episode. I negotiated over months with the label and was ready to pay their licensing fee of 400€ per song for 3 years despite making no money with the podcast. In the end the communication ended and my emails remained unanswered. We replaced the two songs and pray the episode stays online now. Ueli grew up in a small town in between two lakes close to Lucerne. With his double-deck-tape-recorder from Aiwa he started his first mix tapes, fell in love with the craft and did not stop to this day. Of course the mechanics changed a bit over the years, but the idea stayed the same. Ueli worked for Radio 3FACH before he moved to Berlin in his mid-20s. He hasn’t returned, yet. After several stops including Labels and MTV he was head of music at MotorFM, later to become FluxFM. By the end of 2021 he left FluxFM to start his own podcast „Goldstückli“ with his colleague Winson. Lucerne is actually a small city in the heart of Switzerland. of course it’s beautiful with all those mountains and the crystal clear lake right by the city. but it’s music scene and night life is worth to mention, as well. In the 80s and 90s clubs like Sedel and BOA were elementary for kids and tour schedules from all sorts of bands. At a young age C-Rock knew that his career choice would either be music-making or football (soccer) but music had a much bigger draw. "No endless running sessions and no stupid training routines!" says C-Rock. This certainly proved to be the right choice. Over his long and adventurous career C-Rock has moved from humble beginnings, approaching his first set of nightclub decks in 1989, to become one of the heads of the 90s Frankfurt house movement. C-Rock's musical preferences and influences are many, underlying an exposure to a wide variety of sounds in his early years. His DJ sets and productions owe a debt to the early work of Curtis Mantronik and Kraftwerk, mixed with Chicago house, disco and the strong influence of the European electronic body music movement. Despite the different influence streams C-Rock simply calls his style "house music" – plain and simple. C-Rock started hitting his stride in 1994 with his debut 12" on Playhouse and his almighty "Funky dope Trakk", accompanied by the formation of his own long-running imprints stir15 and lofi stereo. It was also during this period that C-Rock was able to hone his DJ'ing talent by throwing legendary events together with Ricardo Villalobos and Yannick (Needs). House- und techno nights with legends like Chez Damier, John Acquaviva, and Carl Craig led to residencies in clubs like Monza and Frankfurt's Box. In 1998 C-Rock released his debut album Track & Feel on his own stir15 label. Hailed as a milestone in the evolution of 'new school' German house music the album received high ratings in SPEX, Groove and de:bug magazine. This was followed with a growing international demand for C-Rock as a DJ as well as collaborations with the likes of Swayzak, Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vaeth, and Chris Duckenfield (Swag). The new millenium saw the birth of a new project. Founded by fellow Frankfurt DJ Matthias Vogt their Motorcitysoul collaboration entered the new century with a loud bang (and more than a few kick drum booms). Albums and singles for INFRACom!, Simple UK and stir15 were universally acclaimed as well as more recent singles for renowned labels such as Freerange and Ibadan. Motorcitysoul also found time to collaborate with Chez Damier on a stir15 single under the moniker of Kids In The Streets. Besides his Motorcitysoul work C-Rock also joined forces with further house heroes in the likes of Brett Johnson, Sasse, Sascha Dive, Chasing Kurt and Neville Attree (aka Further). He was also one of the resident DJs of the famous megaclub Cocoonclub in Frankfurt where C-Rock shaped the musical appearance of Sven Vaeths club-spaceship for more than seven years until the club had to close.
