Jesus talked a lot about what we can look forward to. Paul and Isaiah gave us a glimpse of the future for those who love and look for the Lord's return. "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."  "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former thing shall not be remembered or come to mind, but be glad and rejoice forever in what I create;" (Is 65:17)  Jesus teaches us that those who mourn, are hungry, and suffer persecution will be comforted, filled, and rewarded for the suffering they endured.    Look at what you are looking at. Are you getting bogged down by the disappointments and struggles in your life? Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but the desire accomplished is sweet to the soul. The people of Jeremiah's day considered the word of the Lord to be a reproach. They were given to greed, and everyone dealt falsely with their neighbor. No one was radical for the truth, or, as we would say in our time, no one was radical for Jesus, who is the truth.    We contrast that with the conversion of the Apostle Paul, who was not lukewarm, but already radical for the religious self-righteous version of God's law. He had everything going for him in his religious zeal but was not passionate for the Christ he found himself resisting, until the day he was struck down. He realized he was not following the revelation of God's new commandment as given by Jesus Christ.    Paul let go of the things he assumed were of heavenly value and now counted them as refuse. He traded those achievements for the excellence of the knowledge of Jesus. This radical encounter with the risen Christ turned him in the opposite direction. They'd never lie to me. Or would they? How gullible to think people would never lie to me. We grant blanket immunity and undeserved credibility to trust certain people because of their position. We must look at character, integrity, and the fruit of the Spirit in discerning the safety of the people we are trusting. But telling lies is not as dangerous as believing those lies. We are to be His witnesses. We have been trained to have to go to some intermediary to figure out what is going on with our lives, our body, our churches, and our government. What is the solution to this fearful position where we just accept the lies as the truth, content to be cooked alive in the kettle of deception? Jesus said, repent for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand. He is drawing near. Jabez was named Pain Maker by his mother! Some of us have had similar words spoken over us: trouble maker, you are never going to amount to anything, you are worthless, and  I'm so ashamed of you! How did Jabez handle the curse attached to his name? He cried out to God and said he did not want to be under the curse of those words anymore. He wanted to be blessed and not be shaped by the negative words that hid his identity and blocked his destiny.   So many of us try to change and cannot sustain the desired changes ourselves. We lose our resolve. Jabaz did not give up; he surrendered his future and situation to God, and God heard him and blessed him.   We can take hold of our destiny and secure our true identity in Christ, through Christ. How many times do we panic or worry, forgetting about the faithfulness of God, who is committed to keeping us in every situation? He said, "I will never leave you or forsake you. He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in us." The problem is not in God's faithfulness; the problem is in us.  We judge God by the things He must permit. Why is it so hard to admit we have been lied to? When Jeshurun grew fat, he kicked. (Deut. 32:13) When we become well fed, we begin to take our opulence for granted. God's people had been blessed, but their hearts toward God had become hardened. Stiffness of neck, stubbornness, and the blind leading the blind led to spiritual blindness. The ability to repent and admit we have sinned and been deceived moves out of our reach.    What is the key to keeping our hearts open to wisdom and our lives on track? Has becoming comfortable and satisfied with our own achievements outwitted us and blinded us to the dangers we are living in? Wisdom invites us to feast at her table. Where do apathy, indifference, and spiritual lethargy come from? We have been enchanted, sidelined in our lives, and struck down with the deaf and dumb spirits. These spirits make it hard for us to hear and dull our understanding even in normal conversations. The ears are the receptor sites for Words and sounds. If they are blocked or plugged up, the power of the words is lost.  Jesus cast a spirit of Deaf and Dumb out of the child who was plagued with a spirit that overtook him, casting him into the fire and water to torment him.   So many of us, Christians included, are plagued with these insidious spirits that snatch and neutralize the words and conversations out of our ears, and we don't even realize it. Dullness of mind begins with dullness of hearing.   What does this do to the child that affects their ability to communicate, hear clearly, and act decisively? Jesus' command is simple: "Come, follow me." "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Mt. 16:25 Simple but not easy because the bottom line on following Jesus is death to the old, carnal man, the reconstructed man, adapted and modified to live in the paradigm of the Snake Pit with its new goals and expectations. We are tempted to leave the path of following Jesus to fit in and submit to a different set of expectations and activities to be accepted and elevated by the god of this world to a false place and wrong destination. Jesus said, "Except a man be born again." This implies there must be a death before the new life can come. Most people try to "add" Jesus to their lives like you add a suitcase to your journey.   Jesus is not a good luck charm we hang around our neck to ward off demons and danger.  He is our life. Jesus said, "If the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness." Mt.6:23 Deception is one of the Enemy's greatest assets in the war against Truth. He dresses up the lie to look like the truth and the truth to look like the lie. He baits the hook with what we are hungry for. The Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. The Light exposes the hidden works of darkness and the evil deeds of those deceived by the Evil One.  So, how do we know if we are being deceived by a false light? Jesus tells us that "by their fruits you will know them." So, what is coming out of our mouth? What do we see going on in our behavior?   The light exposes what is going on in our hearts. Jesus told us He is coming as the Son of Man, to gather us up unto Himself. He tells us about the "catching away"  we call the Rapture. He tells us that the day of His return will come as a thief in the night. He tells us about the Great Tribulation and that Babylon would fall. He tells us about the judgment of the world system that corrupted the whole earth and the avenging of the blood of the martyrs.    Jude connects with the book of Enoch by telling us, "Behold, the Lord comes with 10,000 of His saints to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds." He said we would come back riding white horses. He tells us about the great falling away and the rise of the anti-Christ , who will deceive many, and if possible, even the "very elect."   He tells of the wiping away of all tears and the removal of all pain. These things are true and are about to become part of our experience. There are many biblical events set in stone for the days ahead. Jesus told us ahead of time what would happen. He said He was leaving to go and prepare a place for us. He explains to us that there are many mansions in His Father's House.   This is a real promise and will happen, but before the mansions get assigned, things will get turbulent, even to the boiling point of melting the elements with fervent heat, and the stars falling out of the sky.   Jesus tells us about His Wedding, the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Jesus invites us to come unto Him and let Him carry all of our heavy burdens, the cares of this life, and the torment of the irresolvable problems that so easily beset us. He invites us to recognize who we are and the deceptiveness of sin that hardens our hearts. Sin separates us from the love and revelation of God's presence and peace. Our life becomes a heavy burden we end up carrying ourselves. Hopelessness, despair, and unbelief are lifted off of us when we surrender to the will of God. Believers are being attacked by a new emotional psy-op. The Enemy is using our emotions to drive us to discouragement, depression, and loneliness to make us feel abandoned by God.   Those attacks can come from anywhere, from physical illness, emotional exhaustion, religious fatigue from trying to be good, feeling to blame for something we think we did wrong, or condemned by internal thoughts we do not realize are not our own.    This is a strategy of the Evil One to test our faith, our reliance upon the love of God to care for and be with us. How do we see ourselves? As worthy, precious, and priceless? Or as the product of what has happened to us and how other people have treated us?
