E192: Stop Digging Up The Roots
Send us Fan MailYou know the moment: you set a boundary, send the email, start the hard conversation, then your brain demands immediate proof that it worked. You refresh the inbox, reread texts for tone, scan someone’s mood, and call it “being responsible” while your body feels anything but calm. We’re naming that pattern for what it is: digging up the roots before anything has time to grow.I share a recent coaching story that starts with an employee engagement survey and ends somewhere much deeper. The real issue is not the survey results, it is the hidden belief that we must manage other people’s feelings and protect ourselves from disappointment. From there, we break down one of the most useful distinctions in leadership development and self-trust: care versus control. Care prepares the soil by creating clarity, honesty, compassion, and safety. Control tries to force tomatoes to grow by chasing certainty and needing everyone to leave feeling a specific way. Then we shift into a cleaner, steadier way to lead: agency over responsibility. Agency keeps your focus on what you can control, your integrity, your listening, your contribution, and helps you release what was never yours to hold, like someone else’s reaction or choice. You’ll leave with a simple practice to build the muscle of trust: a 48-hour no-checking window that reduces anxiety, strengthens boundaries, and makes your leadership feel grounded. If this hits home, subscribe, share the episode with a friend who overchecks like you do, and leave a review so more people can find the path from control to self-trust.Support the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. E191: You Can Change Your Life One Small Choice At A Time
Send us Fan MailBurnout is not always dramatic. Sometimes it looks like skipped breaks, a constant tight chest, snapping at people you love, and telling yourself you’ll rest after the next deadline. We wanted a grounded conversation about what actually helps, so we brought on life coach and Human Design practitioner Mary Okon to share the practices that helped her move from corporate burnout, daily migraines, and chronic pain into a healthier, more sustainable way of living and leading. We talk about why self-care can feel uncomfortable or even “wrong,” especially if you grew up in a work-first culture where taking time for yourself was judged. Mary breaks down how to start small, build trust with yourself through tiny choices, and use your focus intentionally so you stop reinforcing a loop of stress and complaints. We also get practical about leadership and authenticity: how to find safe spaces to practice being yourself, how community reduces isolation at the top, and how to become an observer of your reactions so you can respond with intention next time. Then we bring in Human Design as a self-awareness tool for leadership development, energy management, and decision making. Mary explains how people are wired differently, why some thrive on variety and movement while others need more rest, and how alignment signals, such as satisfaction or frustration, can guide your next step. If you’ve been forcing yourself into someone else’s “right way,” this conversation offers a clear permission slip to work with your nature instead of against it. If this resonates, follow the podcast, share it with a friend who needs a real break, and leave a review so more people can find it. Send us Fan MailYou already know the truth. The question is—are you willing to respond to it?In this episode, I explore the uncomfortable space between knowing something and actually doing something about it. E189: The Decision Before the Decision
Send us Fan MailNearly half of us want to change something about our lives, yet most of us do not move. I have been there, and this personal talk is my clearest look at why. Recorded as a TEDx-style origin story during an intensive spiritual direction programme and an 8-day retreat in India led by Dr. Ricci-Jane Adams, it captures the unpolished, human side of leadership: the nerves, the pauses, and the moment truth lands in your body before your brain can explain it.I take you back to the season when I was an HR professional with decades of experience, working at the world’s largest nuclear power plant, while also coaching leaders across 19 countries. On paper, it looked like security and success. Inside, I felt split. One part of me was performing and proving; another part came alive every evening in the work that felt like calling. Then a return-to-office policy change hit my inbox and turned a quiet discomfort into a real crossroads: choose comfort and certainty, or choose aliveness and expansion.Along the way, I share the idea that pressure is not always a problem; it is often information that you are out of alignment. We explore why awareness without choice keeps leaders stuck, what fear of losing identity and belonging really does to decision-making, and why self-trust is usually quiet. The core takeaway is simple and demanding: leadership is congruence, living what you say you value, even when it is not perfect. If a decision keeps circling in your mind, let this be a mirror. Listen, then subscribe, share with someone who needs a nudge back to themselves, and leave a review so more people can find this path of authenticity and self-trust.Support the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. E188: Why Did I Wait? A dream, a pen, and a lesson in self-trust.
Send us Fan MailNobody is actually stopping you, and that can be both freeing and confronting. I start with a dream that left me thinking about a familiar kind of stuckness many high-performing leaders live with: the sense that you’re under constant pressure, even when the external facts don’t fully explain the weight you feel. The shift that matters is simple but profound: pressure exists, but suffering often comes from what we add to it, the stories, expectations, proving, and the need to get it right. From there, I unpack how waiting becomes a leadership trap. Waiting for the promotion, the title, the invitation, recognition, certainty, or validation. I share a coaching story where a “typical” timeline quietly turns into an identity, and how a small realization can break the spell: an opinion doesn’t have to become your reality. That’s where inner authority starts to come back online, and where leadership begins to feel grounded again. Then we move into two metaphors that tie everything together: the pen and the microphone. The pen asks, who is writing your story? The microphone asks, are you willing to use your voice even while fear sits beside you? We define ambiguity, uncertainty, and fear, and why real leadership development isn’t about eliminating them, it’s about building self-trust that holds steady in their presence. If you’ve been outsourcing your knowing, this is your reminder: the mic is already on.Subscribe, share this with a leader who needs it, and leave a review if it resonates. E187: Why High Performers Feel Disconnected Inside
Send us Fan MailYou can be the person everyone relies on and still feel strangely far away from yourself. That quiet disconnection is what we’re naming today: not a breakdown you can point to, but the slow drift that happens when you keep overriding your own needs to stay capable, helpful, and “fine”.We start with a dream that captures an energetic truth many of us sense but rarely say out loud: billions of people functioning, performing, and producing while feeling internally detached. From there, we unpack the patterns that often show up in high-performing leaders and caretakers. If you stabilise everyone else but can’t feel grounded, if you keep searching for answers outside yourself, or if you’ve become exceptional at functioning while losing touch with what you feel, you’re not weak. You may be exhausted from self-abandonment, a learned survival strategy that workplaces and cultures often reward. We also reframe burnout and high performance through a new lens. Sometimes burnout isn’t just overwork, it’s your body drawing a boundary and saying it can’t keep paying the internal cost of constant overfunctioning. The heart of the conversation is rebuilding self-trust and inner authority. Self-trust isn’t certainty or the perfect plan. It’s staying connected to yourself in the mess, pausing long enough to ask what’s true right now, and making one honest choice at a time.If this lands, subscribe, share with someone who’s carrying too much, and leave a review so more people can find their way back to themselves. E186: Reiki, Self-Trust, And Building Real Capacity with Lori Ogden
Send us Fan MailYour life can look successful on paper and still feel misaligned in your body. That tension is what we’re naming out loud with Lori Ogden, a mother, Reiki and wellness practitioner, and corporate professional who understands what it’s like to carry a lot while trying to stay connected to yourself. We talk about inner knowing and why it isn’t mysterious or reserved for “spiritual” people. It’s the quiet signal underneath the noise, and when we ignore it, we often default to overworking, people-pleasing, and patterns that repeat. Lori shares how self-trust grows through small, consistent choices and how mindfulness can be as simple as noticing what your thoughts are doing during a meal, a meeting, or a hard conversation at home.We also get practical about nervous system regulation and energy healing. Lori explains what Reiki is, what a practitioner actually does, and how this kind of support can create clarity, shift reactive behaviour, and help you lead with more steadiness. We dig into fear versus intuition, self-sabotage, and the way grief and unprocessed emotion can show up in your work, relationships, and confidence if you keep pushing it away.Connect with Lori here:Lori Ogden InstagrammettahealingreikiBook a Reiki Session with Lori hereIf you’ve been stuck on the hamster wheel, consider this a reset: one breath, one choice, one moment of grace at a time. E185: The Subconscious Basement (and Why I Take You There Anyway)
Send us Fan MailMost leaders I meet do not have a competence problem. They have a pressure problem and it is being powered by something older, quieter, and more persuasive than any plan on your calendar. When you keep telling yourself to delegate more, speak up more, or get more strategic, but nothing truly changes, it may be because you are trying to fix the main floor while the basement runs the house. I walk you into what I call the subconscious basement: the part of the subconscious mind that stores what feels safe, what feels risky, and who you believe you need to be to stay okay. We unpack how outdated beliefs can show up as micromanaging, overexplaining, holding back in meetings, or driving yourself and your team at a cost you cannot sustain. You will hear concrete leadership examples, plus the key insight that hits hard: the very behaviours you use for safety can create the overwhelm, low accountability, or invisibility you are trying to escape. We also dig into the saboteur framework and why I listen for the protector behind the pattern. That controller or hyperachiever is not a flaw, it is protection and once you see what it is trying to prevent, you can finally choose a new response. I share how my free saboteur discovery session works (book yours here), and learn about how deeper intuitive, somatic-style guidance can help you meet fear without getting swallowed by it, so your intuition sharpens and your decisions get clean. E184: Stepping Out of the Spiritual Closet: Leading From All of You
Send us Fan MailThere’s a moment in every leader’s journey when the life, role, or identity that once fit begins to feel too small. You start to sense that the version of you the world sees isn’t the full story — that all of you isn’t being expressed. In this intimate episode, Cynthia shares her lifelong spiritual path — from a childhood pull toward faith, to years of devotion within the Catholic tradition, to the unraveling that followed divorce and the move that changed everything. She opens up about finding freedom in disorientation, rediscovering connection beyond religion, and the pilgrimage to India that quieted her ego and reminded her of who she really is.Through these stories, Cynthia explores what it means to stop editing ourselves — not just in how we lead or show up at work, but spiritually. She reflects on how true leadership is about discernment: knowing which part of us — the professional, the credible, the intuitive, or the deeply spiritual — is being called forward, and having the courage to let it lead.If you’ve been feeling that quiet pull to live and lead from your wholeness — to express the parts of you you’ve kept hidden to stay acceptable — this episode will speak to you.🎧 Listen now to discover what it means to stop hiding your light, claim every part of who you are, and trust that the world needs the fully expressed you.Mentioned in the Episode: The MatrimandirSupport the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. E183: The Pattern Beneath the Problem
Send us Fan MailTen years ago, I called myself a coach for the first time.In this episode of Uncharted & Unfiltered, I’m reflecting on what that ten-year journey has taught me — not just about coaching, but about the patterns that shape how we lead, how we work, and how we treat ourselves.I share the story of a label I once wore as a badge of honour — the workhorse — and how that identity quietly shaped my choices, my pressure, and the way I moved through leadership and life.Inside this conversation, I explore:why certain patterns keep repeatingwhy most leaders don’t have behaviour problems, they have pattern problemsthe difference between managing symptoms and seeing what’s underneathhow the brain reinforces familiar loopswhy awareness is the first step toward real changeand why discomfort is often information, not instructionIf today’s episode resonates with you, I’ve included two resources in the show notes:• The Saboteur Assessment — a simple way to begin seeing the inner patterns that may be shaping your leadership • The TED Talk I mentioned in the episode — a powerful introduction to the ideas behind these patterns and how they operateAnd if you take the assessment, I’d genuinely love to hear what you discover. Many of the reflections that shape these episodes begin as emails I write to my community, so you’ll also find a link in the show notes to join my list if you’d like to stay connected between episodes.Because once we learn to see the pattern clearly, something powerful happens:Choice appears.Support the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. Between competence and alignment.Drawing from my own journey, including time in India, I unpack how subtle self-betrayals compound, how identity forms through meaning-making, and why leadership is spiritual vs. strategic. You’ll learn: • Why pressure is not your compass • How over-functioning erodes authority • What coherence actually builds • And how to assess your own alignment on a 1–10 scaleThe gap isn’t time. It’s devotion. What are you serving?Support the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. E181: Unlearning Executive Presence
Send us Fan MailForget the myth that executive presence is a script, a suit, or a set of perfect lines. We dig into what actually changes a room: self-trust under pressure. Through a candid client story and a real-time leap of faith—saying yes to a year-long intuitive training and an eight-day retreat in India—we show how influence grows when you stop outsourcing your authority to the room and start leading from the inside out.We break down the moments that matter—those senior rooms where your breath shortens and your words rush—and trace them back to old rules that once kept you safe: be careful, be prepared, don’t get it wrong. These rules worked, until your role began asking you to move without guarantees. The turning point isn’t perfection; it’s the belief you can recover. When recovery is on the table, you slow your cadence, choose presence over performance, and invite the room closer. Curiosity returns. Impact follows. You’ll learn practical ways to build presence at the body and mind levels: identify where you become careful instead of present, interrupt the rush with breath and grounding, and pre-commit to repair language that keeps you steady when you stumble. We also ask the question that unlocks authentic authority: What would this look like your way? Drop the textbook cadence. Speak from lived conviction. The leaders we experience as grounded aren’t the ones with all the answers; they’re the ones who stay connected to themselves when certainty disappears. If you’re ready to release polish-as-armor and claim presence-as-truth, this conversation is your starting point. E180: Your Nervous System Called; It Wants A New Boss
Send us Fan MailWhat if the version of you that crushes the meeting isn’t the one truly leading? We open a candid look at the gap so many high performers feel—the calm exterior paired with a bracing, overclocked interior—and chart a practical route from pressure to presence. Rather than chasing more hacks or borrowed scripts, we explore how to rebuild the internal architecture of leadership so your choices align with values, not validation.I walk through the “self-trust arc,” a five-phase framework forged from guiding hundreds of leaders beyond the quiet crisis: overdrive, awareness, choice, alignment, and embodiment. You’ll hear why fear often masquerades as responsibility, how that fuels over preparation and control, and what it takes to stop renting confidence from external answers. We ground the conversation in biology, not bravado, explaining why the sympathetic nervous system narrows your vision and how a regulated, parasympathetic state unlocks clarity, empathy, and creativity. The throughline is simple and demanding: clear leadership requires safety, and safety can be trained. If you’re succeeding yet feel strangely absent from your own work, this conversation offers both language and method to shift course. You’ll gain tools to recognise fear’s voice, practise decision-making before certainty arrives, and return authority to your inner compass. We close with one catalytic question designed to end endurance patterns and start a new operating system—one built on self-trust and principled action. E179: The Quiet Crisis of Leadership (and the Return to Self-Trust)
Send us Fan MailWhat if the real work of leadership isn’t finding better answers—but learning how to trust your own?In this week's episode of Uncharted & Unfiltered, Cynthia Jamieson reflects on completing five powerful coaching journeys and the pattern that changed everything: every leader came in looking outside themselves for clarity—and left knowing how to find it within. In a world that’s louder, faster, and more confusing than ever (especially in the age of AI), Cynthia makes a bold case for why connected leadership is no longer optional. E177: A Pause, A Choice, and a Christmas Message
Send us Fan MailAfter a couple of quieter weeks, I’m returning to the microphone with clarity rather than urgency and with truth rather than explanation. This episode is an orientation.I share why I chose to pause, what was reorganizing beneath the surface, and how this moment reflects what I call post-institutional leadership: the phase that arrives after years of leading inside systems where authority was external, and you’re asked to lead without that scaffolding.I talk about why this kind of leadership often shows up later, not right away; why I’m choosing depth over volume with the podcast going forward; and what it means to be locatable rather than everywhere.I also share how I’m simplifying my work in a way that feels more honest and sustainable — and offer a Christmas and year-end message for anyone who feels tired of bracing, performing, or holding it all together. This episode isn’t about doing less. It’s about choosing more honestly. No rush.No pressure.Just a place to pause and listen.Support the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. E176: Self-Trust Begins When The Story Ends
Send us Fan MailIn this powerful behind-the-scenes episode, I take you into a six-month coaching journey that reveals something universal about leadership, self-trust, and the stories we tell ourselves. My client — an accomplished, caring, highly capable leader — came into coaching believing that every tense meeting, every system glitch, and every emotional reaction from her team meant something about her. Like so many high-achieving leaders I coach, she wasn’t overwhelmed by the work. She was overwhelmed by her interpretation of the work. What unfolded next was nothing short of transformational. In this episode, you’ll hear how she learned to:Stop taking responsibility for everyone else’s feelingsReplace “I don’t know” with the far more powerful “I can figure this out”Shift from pressure → presence, chaos → clarityRegulate her emotional landscape instead of absorbing everyone else’sLead with compassion, integrity, boundaries, and inner steadinessRecognize that self-trust isn’t about having the answer — it’s believing she can find oneYou’ll also hear truths I shared with her — the kind that disrupt old patterns and open the door to identity-level transformation:You’re not responsible for everything.Uncertainty is not failure.Chaos doesn’t mean you’re ineffective. And your story is not the truth.By the end of our work together, she wasn’t trying to “perform” leadership anymore. She was inhabiting it — fully, authentically, intentionally. If you are a leader who finds yourself overthinking, over-owning, or overwhelmed by the emotional climate around you… this episode is for you. You’ll walk away with three powerful invitations:Where are you confusing chaos with inadequacy?Where are you picking up emotional weight that isn’t yours?Where can you shift from “I don’t know” → “I can figure this out”?Because coaching isn’t about becoming someone better. It’s about becoming someone truer. If this episode resonates and you’re ready to lead from clarity, steadiness, and self-trust instead of pressure and perfection, I invite you to book a clarity call through the link in the show notes.Breathe deeply.Lead gently. And trust yourself more than you think you can.Support the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. E175: Leading With Intuition: Self-Trust As A Strategy
Send us Fan MailIn this special crossover episode, I’m sharing a conversation from The School for Psychics podcast with my former mentor, psychic medium and founder of the School for Psychics, Crystal Moreland. If you’re a corporate leader wondering what psychic development or spiritual language has to do with leadership, this one is exactly for you.Together, we explore what really happens when you strip away your titles, roles, and expectations and meet yourself beneath it all. We talk about the moments that change everything — leaving a long-term corporate career, saying yes to the unknown, and learning to trust the quiet inner signals that have been speaking to you all along. In this episode, we dive into:How heightened self-awareness directly improves strategic clarity and decision-makingWhy presence is a business advantage (and what pulls you out of it)The beliefs, habits, and protective patterns that quietly limit your impact, influence, and well-beingWhat it truly means to become your own oracle and trust your inner authorityHow to walk through transitions — new roles, career shifts, or identity changes — without abandoning yourselfThis isn’t about being “psychic” in a mystical, out-of-reach way. It’s about removing interference so you can clearly hear your Higher Self, your deepest knowing — and lead from that place. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lived many lives in one lifetime, or you can sense a change coming but can’t quite name it yet, this episode will meet you right where you are.Support the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. E174: From Autopilot To Authenticity: Listening To Your Nervous System
Send us Fan MailYour body has been telling the truth longer than your mind has been willing to hear it. In this episode, I share a candid story about ignoring subtle signals, defaulting to composure, and the exact moment my nervous system took the wheel—and how that became a turning point toward deeper self trust and more honest leadership. We unpack how high performers often mistake self sufficiency for strength, why “I’m fine” teaches people to leave us alone, and how fear narrows our options until we deliberately widen them with presence. I walk through six grounded lessons: treating the body as messenger, seeing the shadow of over-functioning, reactivating receptive capacities like rest and asking for help, catching automatic control patterns, using pivot points to install new practices, and meeting fear daily as information rather than an enemy. Along the way we explore practical regulation tools—breath-work OR movement to complete stress cycles, and how earlier, clearer requests for support—can move insight out of your head and into your life.If you’ve ever overridden discomfort to keep commitments, if you delegate only when underwater, or if your best ideas arrive after your shoulders drop, this conversation will feel like a mirror. Coaching shows up here as a catalyst, not a fix: a steady space to slow the autopilot moment, name what’s underneath, and choose again with clarity. You’ll leave with language for your needs, simple rituals to steady your nervous system, and prompts that help you trade pressure for presence so your leadership feels like you.Ready to build self trust and lead without abandoning yourself? E173: Trust Yourself And Watch Your Life Shift
Send us Fan MailWhat if the most powerful move you can make as a leader isn’t to control more, but to trust yourself more? Today I share a client story that reveals how tiny, aligned choices can turn relentless overwhelm into a grounded, confident way of being. This is a real transformation: naming inner saboteurs, learning to pause before reacting, and choosing actions that nourish rather than deplete. We walk through the moments that mattered: recognizing the inner critic, using Positive Intelligence to build awareness, and replacing constant scanning for threats with listening inward. You’ll hear how everyday decisions—preparing a home before travel, cooking for nourishment, telling the truth in a relationship, starting therapy—stack into an identity shift. The breakthrough line still gives me chills: “I know what I’m doing.” Not because circumstances changed, but because she stopped giving her power to them.I define leadership as presence, truth, and steadiness under pressure. When you move from overdrive to alignment, your impact changes at home and at work. Meetings feel clearer, boundaries hold, and relationships become more honest because you’re no longer abandoning yourself. If this story stirred something in you, explore The Self-Trust Arc—our coaching framework and community where we practise awareness, emotional resilience, and inner authority. E171: Bootstrap Boogie. The Race Between Doubt and Trust
Send us Fan MailSometimes leadership looks like running a race you’re not sure you’re ready for.In this episode, Cynthia shares a story from her 17k Bootstrap Boogie run — a course made of grass, beach, clay, shale, trail, and boardwalk — and every emotional terrain in between. What began as a morning of self-doubt became a powerful reminder of what happens when we trust our presence more than our pressure.Through moments of laughter, falling, friendship, and reflection, Cynthia explores how physical challenges often mirror our inner ones: how to stay grounded when the path changes beneath you, how to lead beside others instead of ahead, and how to blaze new trails for those who’ll follow. This isn’t just a running story. It’s a love letter to courage, community, and self-trust — and a reminder that leadership is, at its heart, love in motion.Listen if you’ve ever doubted your strength, questioned your “yes,” or needed someone to ring the cowbell for you.Access the Playlist (aka musical love letter) here.Support the showPlease rate and review with your honest opinion. E170: From HR Metrics To Inner Compass: How Astrology Revealed A Truer Path To Leadership
Send us Fan MailAfter four decades in HR, I thought I’d taken every assessment that could tell me who I am: Myers-Briggs, DISC, StrengthsFinder, Predictive Index — all of it. But last week I discovered a map that went deeper than personality. It touched the why behind how I serve. In this conversation, I share what happened when I learned that the ruler of my 10th house — the part of the birth chart linked to purpose — is Saturn … and how that single discovery reframed everything I know about work, service, and the unseen parts of leadership. In it, I share:✨ What Saturn teaches us about service and purpose✨ Why unseen work is often the most impactful✨ How to move from pressure to presence and finally trust your inner compass✨ Why being “wired for depth” is your greatest leadership advantageThis episode matters because so many of us are leading from pressure, perfection, or performance — and wondering why it still feels hollow. If you take one thing away, let it be this:You’re not wired wrong. You’re wired for depth. And that’s exactly what the world needs right now.Take a breath, grab your coffee, and join me for a conversation about the spaces between systems and soul — the quiet work that changes everything.---------->>>>>>If you’d like to discover your own 10th-house ruler — the planet that offers clues about how you’re here to serve — here’s how to do it:1️⃣ Go to a free birth chart calculator like Astro-Seek. 2️⃣ Enter your birth date, exact time, and location. 3️⃣ Click “Calculate Chart.” 4️⃣ Scroll down until you see your 10th House (sometimes called Midheaven or MC). 5️⃣ Look for the phrase “Ruler of the 10th House.” 6️⃣ Take a deep breath, read what it says, and notice what lands — not what you think about it, but what you feel. That planet carries insight into your calling, your leadership energy, and the way you’re designed to make an impact. And if you’d like to explore what this means for you — how to connect your inner wiring, intuition, and leadership path — this is exactly the kind of work we do together in my 1:1 coaching containers. E166: Awareness Isn’t Enough — Why “Knowing Better” Doesn’t Change Anything
Send us Fan MailWe live in a culture that worships self-awareness — as if naming the problem should magically fix it. But here’s the truth: awareness alone doesn’t change a thing. In this episode, I share why awareness is often just self-criticism dressed up as insight, and what actually creates transformation: practice. You’ll hear stories from my own life (and my Saturday Park Run) as well as from clients who are learning to shift from proving themselves to practicing self-appreciation.Together, we’ll explore a simple four-step framework — Catch, Name, Question, Choose — and why slipping back into old habits isn’t failure, it’s part of the path.✨ You’ll walk away with:A spiky reframe on why “knowing better” won’t set you free.A practice you can use today to shift from old mirrors to new ones.Permission to see progress as returning, not perfection. If you’re tired of knowing better but not doing better, this conversation is for you this episode is your invitation to stop beating yourself up and start practicing differently. E164: The Ripple Effect: How One Life Creates Lasting Change
Send us Fan MailWhat makes a life meaningful? What creates a legacy that ripples for generations? These questions crystallized for me upon learning about Lorraine, a Canadian giant in disability rights advocacy who recently passed away after 50+ years of transformative work.Leadership has never been about titles or spotlight moments. It's about showing up again and again with persistence and conviction to make space for others to belong. Lorraine's journey began simply - with the birth of her son Ralph in 1968. That moment of love became her life's work, leading to decades of volunteer service, nearly 20 years with the New Brunswick Association for Community Living, and partnerships with governments and communities to advance human rights and inclusion. Yet what strikes me most isn't her recognition or achievements, but her persistence and balance. She pursued her calling with unwavering dedication while still embracing life's simple pleasures - curling, golfing, birthday lunches with friends, and her daily glass of "cheap red wine."Her story offers five powerful lessons for anyone leading through messy times: Your calling is enough - stop waiting for permission or titles. Persistence outlasts polish - consistency matters more than charisma. Progress requires constant tending - you can't "set and forget" inclusion or trust. Balance is fuel, not distraction - joy makes advocacy sustainable. And finally, you don't need to be known to matter - never confuse visibility with impact. Most of us don't feel like giants. We feel like we're just trying to keep our heads above water. But giants aren't born - they're built through tiny acts of persistence, one ripple at a time. What calling is tugging at you right now? E162: You Can’t Water the Roses If You’re Stepping on the Hose.
Send us Fan Mail“You can’t water the roses if you’re stepping on the hose.”This simple yet powerful metaphor captures what so many high-integrity leaders feel today: labouring under invisible weights while cutting off their own flow of wisdom, energy, and creativity. But what if leadership didn’t have to mean working harder? What if it could mean letting the water flow again? In this reflective episode, Cynthia Jamieson explores how our saboteur brains convince us that safety, success, and love come only through pressing harder. The roses are your leadership, relationships, and dreams. The water is your energy, wisdom, and love. And every time perfectionism, people-pleasing, or proving takes over, you’re stepping on your own source of power.Through four pathways of liberation—🌱 inner growth, 💬 collective wisdom, 🔧 practical tools, and 🌟 ripple impact—you’ll learn how to take your foot off the hose and allow your authentic leadership to bloom. Because most leaders aren’t short on strategy; they’re short on self-trust.This isn’t theory—it’s transformation. Send us Fan MailClarity doesn’t always show up neat — sometimes it arrives through the mess. In this episode of Unchartered & Unfiltered: A Journey Back to You, Cynthia shares the raw and magical breakthrough that came from a simple but powerful question:“Where are you in misalignment?”Together, we explore: ✨ How to spot the difference between alignment and misalignment in your life and leadership. ✨ A simple exercise (the “misalignment/action list”) that can shift you back into integrity. ✨ The difference between fear and intuition — and why self-trust feels so dangerous in systems built on compliance and overgiving. ✨ Why radical self-trust isn’t just personal growth, but a rebellious act of leadership. ✨ How to create the conditions for your own breakthrough, instead of waiting for one to arrive. With stories from Cynthia’s own journey, insights from Debra Landwehr Engle’s Be the Light That You Are, and the embodiment practices she draws from Be the Light toolkits (Power of No Workbook, Balance & Self-Care Toolkit, Career Values Toolkit and Renew You), this conversation is both teaching and coaching in one.And with an open heart, she invites you community, and within both the FREE or PAID spaces, you’ll walk away with language, practices, and inspiration to stop fixing yourself (you're not broken, you're just disconnected) and start remembering who you are — because your light was never meant to fit into someone else’s dimmer switch.Listen now and discover why self-trust might just be the most radical act of leadership you’ll ever choose. With love & light,Cynthia P.S. E159: Breaking the Fixer Pattern
Send us Fan MailHave you ever wondered what it would feel like to put down the heavy mantle of "the strong one" and finally breathe? That question lies at the heart of this deeply personal exploration of over-functioning and the quiet cost it extracts from our lives.Drawing from her own journey, Cynthia shares the story of how she became the ultimate fixer—the HR professional who held corporate secrets and smoothed conflicts, the capable one at home, the friend with all the right words. While the world rewarded her for holding everything together, something essential was slipping away: her connection to herself. Through vivid storytelling, she reveals how this pattern of over-functioning creates an imbalance where we carry more than our share while others carry less than theirs. The transformation begins with simple yet profound questions: What if you didn't fix this? Who are you when you're not managing everyone else's feelings? How does trust feel in your body? These inquiries open doorways back to our authentic selves—not through perfection or control, but through presence, compassion, and conscious choice-making. Cynthia unveils her vision for "Be the Light," a new community designed for those ready to stop shape-shifting and start living from their truth.Whether you're the one everyone leans on or you're searching for your own inner compass, this episode offers a gentle reminder that your knowing has never left you. It's been waiting patiently for you to remember it was there all along. Ready to reclaim your path? Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Unchartered and Unfiltered — A Journey Back to You, I’m sharing the journey of a leader who was stuck in the exhausting cycle of trying to manage how people saw them. E156: Ties, Lies, and the Armor We Wear to "Fit In"
Send us Fan MailWhat happens when the version of you that earns the applause… isn’t actually you?In this week's episode, we’re curling up on the couch together — just you and me — for a conversation about what it really costs to survive in systems that were never built with you in mind. I’ll share a moment from a recent coaching session that broke my heart, lit a fire in my chest, and reminded me why I do this work. You’ll hear the story of a woman who put on the metaphorical (and literal) suit, believing that blending in would finally earn her a seat at the table — and the truth that shattered that belief.Together, we’ll explore:How we learn to adapt, shrink, and armor up just to be taken seriouslyThe deep cost of that kind of survivalWhy coaching is the bridge back to your truth — and your powerAnd how to begin asking yourself the questions that bring you homeThis isn’t just her story — it’s mine. And maybe it’s yours, too.✨ You’re not too much. You’re not too loud. You’re not a problem to be solved. You are a force. E155: What a Dying Plant Taught Me About Leadership
Send us Fan MailHave you ever noticed something withering in the corner of your workspace and walked right past it? That neglected detail might be telling you something crucial about your leadership.During a recent getaway to Quebec City, I found myself in a once-beloved coffee shop that had clearly lost its way. The dying plant in the corner, the dusty windows, the debris on the floor, and the rushed, impersonal service told a story far more powerful than any mission statement hanging on the wall. This wasn't just about a disappointing coffee experience – it was a profound metaphor for how organizations quietly erode when leadership becomes disconnected from daily operations. What struck me most was the gap between this brand's celebrated origin story – built on craftsmanship, care and community – and the reality I encountered. Businesses don't collapse overnight. They diminish through a slow process of neglect that begins with seemingly insignificant details that no one addresses. The withering plant isn't just about horticulture – it represents care. The dust isn't merely about cleanliness – it signals attention. The rushed service reveals engagement levels and potential burnout. This episode invites you to ask: Where are you letting something wither quietly in the corner of your leadership? What metaphorical plants need your attention – in your team, your organization, or even in your personal wellbeing? If someone were to walk into your leadership today, what would they feel? Because leadership isn't loud all the time, but it is always visible – even in the things we forget to tend to.Join me for this thoughtful exploration of how true leadership reveals itself not in grand gestures but in consistent care. E154: Mirror, Mirror: The Genius You’ve Been Overlooking
Send us Fan MailHave you ever considered that your greatest strength might be something you're completely overlooking? Something so natural to you that you don't even recognize it as special? The quiet power of genius often hides in plain sight. In this deeply reflective episode, I share a personal breakthrough about discovering my own "genius mirror" – those innate gifts we tend to brush off as ordinary that actually create extraordinary impact for others. Using AI as a thought partner, I uncovered patterns in my coaching work that I'd been dismissing: creating spaces where people feel safe to exhale and speak their truth, asking pivotal questions at exactly the right moment, and guiding clients back to their own inner wisdom. There's a beautiful irony in discovering that the very part of me that was once silenced – told to be seen and not heard – has become the foundation of my impact. This journey reminds us that our most powerful contributions rarely come from certifications or credentials, but from the intersection of our natural talents, skills, and lived experiences. What you do effortlessly might be exactly what others find most valuable about you.Ready to uncover your own overlooked genius? Try these reflective questions: What do people thank you for that you tend to brush off? What comes so easily to you that it feels too insignificant to value? Your answers might reveal the brilliance you've been minimizing. Whether through quiet reflection, human design insights, or contemplative tools like AI, it's time to recognize the power that's already within you, waiting to be acknowledged. E153: Leadership and Freedom — Celebrating Canada Day by Claiming Your Authentic Voice
Send us Fan MailWhat does freedom really mean beyond fireworks and flags? On this Canada Day episode, we dive deep into the personal freedom that matters most—the freedom to be yourself as a leader, in your work, and in your life.Freedom isn't just about external permissions; it's about internal alignment. How many of us perform some version of leadership that someone else scripted for us? How often do we dim our light just to fit in? These are the questions we explore as we examine what true personal liberty looks like in practice.I share my own journey of hiding parts of myself—the intuitive, playful parts—because I believed being "professional" meant being palatable. But I've learned that credibility doesn't come from conformity. It comes from showing up whole, messy, bright, and intentional. This episode offers reflective questions to help you identify where you might need to reclaim your voice: What version of success have you outgrown? What hard conversation have you been avoiding that might actually set you free? What would it feel like to trust yourself just 10% more today?Whether you're leading a team, a household, or just your own life, this episode is your permission slip to break free from the molds that no longer serve you. E148: Start by Asking No One
Send us Fan MailHave you ever noticed how quickly we reach for external guidance when facing new challenges? That reflexive Google search, the Amazon book order, the desperate call to a mentor—all while ignoring the quiet voice of wisdom within ourselves. This episode challenges the fundamental belief that leadership success comes from outside sources. When a friend texted asking what she should read before starting a new leadership role, I found myself wondering: what if success doesn't come from doing more but from trusting more? We explore why we often seek new positions—not just for titles or salaries, but to escape environments where we've been shrinking ourselves just to survive. If you've ever felt the need to apologize for wanting a healthier workplace or a fresh start, this conversation is your permission slip to honor that desire. From childhood, we're conditioned to look outward for answers, gradually silencing our own knowing. But what if your leadership doesn't come from becoming someone else or thinking like others? What if it emerges from becoming more authentically yourself? Through guided reflection and a simple breathing exercise, we explore how to reconnect with your inner compass—the wisdom that's been there all along. The world doesn't need another perfectly trained leader following someone else's blueprint. E147: Breaking Free: The Saturn Return Journey
Send us Fan MailHave you been dragging an invisible suitcase behind you—packed with other people's expectations, outdated rules, and the constant pressure to hold it together? Today's episode invites you to set that heavy burden down.Amidst my second Saturn return—that cosmic checkpoint around age 58 asking "Is this still working for you?"—I'm sharing the profound shift from leading through grit and logic to embracing intuition and self-compassion. This isn't just my journey; it's a collective awakening happening right now among leaders everywhere. We explore the metaphorical "inner boardroom" where saboteurs (those internalized voices of fear and protection) sit at the table, thinking they're keeping you safe when they're actually keeping you small. Through frameworks like Positive Intelligence, Dr. Kristen Neff's work on fierce self-compassion, and the blueprint revelations of Human Design, you'll discover practical tools to distinguish between what's truly yours and what you've inherited. The striving, people-pleasing, and perfectionism? Those were hand-me-downs. The emotional armor? You don't need it anymore. What if there's a more aligned way to lead—from your authentic center rather than external validation?Whether you're navigating your own Saturn return or simply feeling that pull toward greater authenticity, this episode offers a compass for the journey. E146: From “Kill It” to Cultivate It: A New Leadership Lens
Send us Fan MailHave you ever felt the immense pressure to "nail it" when stepping into something new? That sensation of needing to be perfect from day one might be familiar—and as I discovered, it's exactly what was happening with my coaching client as she prepared to lead a team of seasoned professionals. The timing couldn't have been more serendipitous. While helping my client transform her leadership anxiety, I unwittingly created a framework that would calm my own nerves before an important assessment just hours later. This beautiful moment of reciprocity reveals how the wisdom we offer others often becomes exactly what we need ourselves. At the heart of this episode is a powerful reframe that changed everything: "What if this wasn't something to kill but something to grow?" From this simple question bloomed the PLANT framework—a leadership approach rooted in Presence rather than pressure. We explore each element: Pausing to get present, Listening generously, Asking questions, Naming what matters, and Tending with intention. For my gardener client, this metaphor resonated deeply, helping her see her team as diverse plants with unique needs rather than challenges to conquer. The framework proved its worth the very next morning as I faced my own assessment anxiety. By applying these same principles—pausing to breathe, listening to my body's signals, asking what I needed, naming what truly mattered, and tending to myself with care—I transformed nervous energy into focused presence. This episode is for anyone standing at the threshold of something new and important, wondering if they have what it takes. The answer is yes—not because you'll be perfect, but because you'll be present.Ready to transform pressure into presence in your own life? E145: Emotional Intelligence and Intuition: The Hidden Leadership Superpowers
Send us Fan MailHave you ever wondered why some professionals skyrocket to leadership positions while others—just as smart and capable—seem to hit an invisible ceiling? The answer isn't found in technical expertise or hours logged, but in something far more fundamental: emotional intelligence and intuition.Drawing from decades of experience both as an HR professional making critical hiring and promotion decisions and now as a leadership coach, I reveal why these two undervalued skills are actually the definitive factors in career advancement. This isn't about being "nice"—it's about developing the emotional agility to navigate high-stakes situations with clarity and purpose when everything is spinning.I break down emotional intelligence into its essential components—self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and relationship management—and explain how each directly impacts your leadership effectiveness. You'll discover why intuition isn't "woo" but embodied wisdom that helps you recognize patterns your conscious mind hasn't fully processed yet. Through real-world examples, I illustrate how ignoring these internal signals leads to costly missteps that could have been avoided.Whether you're a high achiever hitting unexpected roadblocks, a new leader finding your footing, or someone ready to elevate your impact, this episode offers practical strategies to develop these career-defining capabilities. The world desperately needs leaders who can show up with both clarity and compassion—who don't just get things done but bring people along with them. Ready to become that leader? E144: Priestess Rising: Reclaiming Your Power
Send us Fan MailHave you ever wondered what might shift in your life and leadership if you could transmute fear into love? This episode takes you on a raw, vulnerable journey through my most intense week of reflection in years, revealing profound insights that emerged while studying The Method with the Institute of Intuitive Intelligence. The hermetic principles serve as our guide: All is One (there is no "them"), As Above So Below (your internal world shapes your external reality), and All is Vibration (how you "be" matters more than what you say). Each principle illuminates a facet of sacred leadership that transcends tactics and enters the realm of energetics. Leadership isn't something you do—it's something you embody and radiate.Through exploring fear profiling, shadow archetypes, and the power of the Akashic Records, I share how these tools revealed my own deep-seated beliefs around disappointment and not belonging. The physical manifestations—pressure in my upper body, feeling silenced, even the return of edema in my legs—all pointed to energetic imbalances I had been carrying. The breakthrough came not through fixing or forcing, but through compassion and curiosity. I discovered how I had unconsciously placed myself beneath the organizations I worked with, giving away my power by seeing them as higher authorities.Authentic leadership emerges when we recognize our worth, name our patterns, and choose differently. We don't need more performative leadership in this world. We need embodied leaders where presence is the offering and love is the strategy. Your invitation is to ask: Where might your energy be leaking? What is your nervous system trying to tell you? What truths are waiting to rise in your body and voice? Remember that fear isn't the enemy—it's the teacher. And perhaps most revolutionary of all, we can awaken through joy, not just through suffering. E143: Taming the Comparison Monster
Send us Fan MailFrom an unexpected Canada goose attack to the depths of workplace comparison, this episode traverses a landscape of insights about how we respond when feeling threatened or inadequate. The journey begins with a morning run gone awry when encountering an aggressive goose, extracting three powerful leadership lessons: we all have blind spots that can lead to chaos, belonging drives protective behaviours, and brilliance can distract us from potential dangers. These insights perfectly frame the episode's central exploration of comparison and self-worth.At the heart of this conversation is a remarkable client story - a man facing cancer diagnosis, family health challenges, and parental loss who made healing his priority. Despite his commitment, he found himself spiralling into comparison with a colleague. The toxic cycle became clear: thinking "he's better than me" created feelings of inferiority, driving exhausting overcompensation and shame. The transformative moment arrives with a simple yet profound question: "What if this isn't about you?" This perspective shift illuminates how removing ourselves from the center of narratives creates freedom. When we zoom out and consider the bigger picture, we break free from what I call "an abusive relationship with self" - those harmful internal stories creating fear and inadequacy within.Remember: your brain might be wired for threat, but your soul is wired for truth. When comparison creeps in, ask what you're making situations mean about yourself, then consider that it might not be about you at all. You don't need to prove your worth - you just need to remember it.Ready to break free from comparison spirals?
