Ep.21 — Addictions & Vices
Addictions & Vices are something that almost every single person faces off with at some point in their life. Yet, it’s very rarely spoken about outside of closed doors. These addictions can range from being addicted to your phone, to your work, to alcohol, drugs, gambling, sęx and more. So often we see men within the Mindfit Gym HQ talk about how their addiction left them feeling isolated, alone, unloved, abandoned and locked within the vicious cycle of the addiction getting the better of them, no matter how hard they try to kick it. But you don’t have to do this alone. There are many avenues of support, including: • Psychologists, • CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), • Group settings (12 step, addiction groups, men's / women's support groups). • Learning about addictions and getting book smart 📖 • A good old fashioned friend / someone who has gone through it before During the episode we dive deep into how we ended up being addicted to XYZ, what we define as an addiction and what we define as a vice, the impact that these had on us and tips and tricks on how we overcame them. We also go deep and talk about suicide and how addictive behaviours can lead us to the tipping point and how we bounced back from that. And to lighten the mood up, Michael even gave us a dope rap on his journey of overcoming addiction. If there is something that resonates with you in this episode, please let us know.
