Ep. 31 Healing after birth: Jamie's Journey through prenatal trauma and postpartum PTSD
Send a textIn today's episode, Jamie, a mama of one, shares with us how her transition into motherhood was one that was nothing like she envisioned with medical complications. From the very beginning of her pregnancy, Jamie experienced continuous cardiac episodes that left her unable to do many day-to-day things and led to her developing postpartum PTSD. As a mental health therapist herself, she started noticing she was experiencing very similar symptoms to PTSD, even though her doctors were treating her for postpartum depression. She found herself having to really advocate for herself and finally found a therapist that truly understood what she was going through, helping her to finally get an accurate diagnosis and treatment. Throughout her healing journey she found different ways to help her move forward like breath work, exercise and a mama community. She is now three years postpartum and has been able to live a healthy and happy life. Ep. 16 Colleen's Motherhood Journey: From single mom at nineteen, to happily married as a working stay-at-home mom of three in her thirties.
Send a textThis week I get to talk to my close friend and health and fitness coach, Colleen mama of three. After getting pregnant at 19 and navigating motherhood as a single parent while putting herself through college, Colleen started experiencing some postpartum anxiety. It only got worse once she had her second baby twelve years later, but it really took over her life after having her third baby almost three years ago. As a stay-at-home mom, she found fitness to be a life saver for her mental health and enjoyed it so much she is now a health and fitness coach. It is honestly because of her that I am now on my own health and fitness journey and am loving it so much that I became a coach as well. Exercise is so beneficial for our mental health and as mamas it is so easy to get fully immersed in motherhood and completely forget about ourselves.
