Taste and Seek
by Linnea Smith
Can we truly taste and see God's goodness in our lives, or is it an empty invitation that leaves us longing and wanting more? Does God care about the mundane moments? Is he there in the waiting room? In our conversations, we will be diving into various topics with guests who will help us see God and his activity. We will be covering a wide spectrum of our lives' experiences ranging from parenting, mental health, loss, and our vocations. As a teacher, a mom, a wife, a workshop leader, my passion is to encourage you to seek God throughout your days and then equip those around you.

Ep 52: Cover to Cover 1 Samuel 14-31 + 2 Samuel 1-20
Synopsis: A late reflection, but a meaningful one—tracing the rise of David, the fall of Saul, and the steady, unchanging character of God through it all.In this episode you will hear: 1) What does the Lord delight in?Not partial obedience, but wholehearted love expressed through obedience. Saul’s compromise with the Amalekites shows how easy it is to justify “almost” obeying when it benefits us. True obedience flows from loving God fully—not just doing what’s convenient.2) God’s justice and mercy are never in conflictDavid’s story—through tragedies involving Tamar, Amnon, and Bathsheba—reveals both human failure and divine consistency. Even when justice feels hard to understand, God remains righteous and merciful. Unlike David, God does not play favorites; He responds to genuine repentance with grace, yet sin still carries real consequences.3) David points us to a better KingThe hope placed in David ultimately falls short. His life reminds us that even the best human leaders fail. But God’s promise—the Davidic Covenant—was always pointing forward to Jesus Christ, the true King who reigns in righteousness, protects the vulnerable, and fulfills every promise perfectly.A sobering and hopeful reminder: our hearts long for a perfect king—and that longing is only satisfied in Christ.Resources mentioned:- Cover to Cover Bible Reading PlanConnect with T+S!Are you liking the episodes and want to connect more? Ep. 51 Cover to Cover Joshua 24-25, Judges, Ruth + 1 Samuel 1-13
Synopsis:A new generation has risen in Israel and shocker of all shockers- they have abandoned the God who rescued them to pursue their own ways. They did what was right in their own eyes believing they could serve both God and "gods." However, we must choose one. Although Judges shows how far we can stray, Ruth and 1 Samuel remind us that God has never forgotten his promise. In this episode you will hear:- First, am I listening to the Shepherd's voice or my own? How do I know if I am? In Judges, the next generation of Israelites abandoned the ways of the Lord taught by Moses and Joshua to follow their own ways. Though we don't like to think so, we are more like them than different. So, how do we learn our Shepherd's voice?- Second, the story of Ruth reminds us that in the chaos of Judges, God had not forgotten his promise. It's a bright spot to see God's faithfulness. Through the love story of Ruth and Boaz will come the world's greatest redemption.- Finally, in Hannah, we are reminded that God meets our greatest needs. While God grants Hannah a baby and even a couple more after Samuel's birth, it wasn't a baby that Hannah so desperately needed, but to know that she wasn't alone in her situation. God saw her and cared for her. Don't we all need that hope?Resources mentioned:- Cover to Cover Bible Reading PlanHave you gotten your Anchored Ticket yet?Coming May 2, 2026 at Horizon Church in Allentown, PA comes a gathering for women unlike any other in the Lehigh Valley.Anchored: in peace will fill you with encouragement and renewed hope as you worship and learn alongside your sisters in Christ. Ep. 49 Cover to Cover- Deuteronomy 5-34 and Joshua 1-20
Synopsis:A pile of stones. A city with a violent past. And a God who refuses to leave broken stories unfinished. In this episode, we explore how God invites us into covenant love, calls us to remember, and quietly works redemption in places we least expect. In this episode you will hear:- First, what does it truly mean to fear the Lord and serve Him alone? We explore God’s covenant love—a love marked by overwhelming generosity, deep devotion, and a call to find our identity in Him rather than in the lesser things that so easily entangle us.- Second, we consider the importance of telling our stories. From the rock memorials of the Jordan to the voices of the Psalms, Scripture reminds us that faith is meant to be shared—especially in the ordinary, everyday moments. This Holy Week, we ask: what has God done in your life, and who needs to hear about it?- Finally, we look for redemption in unexpected places. Through the story of Shechem, we see how God can transform even the most broken and painful histories into places of refuge and hope. Nothing is beyond His ability to restore.Resources mentioned:- Cover to Cover Bible Reading PlanHave you gotten your Anchored Ticket yet?Coming May 2, 2026 at Horizon Church in Allentown, PA comes a gathering for women unlike any other in the Lehigh Valley.Anchored: in peace will fill you with encouragement and renewed hope as you worship and learn alongside your sisters in Christ. Ep. 47 Cover to Cover Numbers 8-36 + Deuteronomy 1-4
Synopsis:In this episode, we explore three reflections from Israel’s wilderness journey. First, God asks Moses, “Is the arm of the LORD too short?” Secondly, obedience takes time to develop and often a wilderness to filter our idols. Lastly, we can't help but notice how the surrounding nations respond to God's provision over his faithfulness. In this episode you will hear:- Even after witnessing incredible miracles, Moses doubts God’s ability to provide. - The wilderness becomes a long lesson in trusting God’s provision—where Israel learns that God faithfully supplies their needs, often in ways far beyond what they imagine.- The Israelites' struggles with idolatry reveal something familiar: in seasons of hardship, our hearts often cling to things other than God.Resources mentioned:- Cover to Cover Bible Reading Plan- Counterfeit Gods by Timothy KellerHave you gotten your Anchored Ticket yet?Coming May 2, 2026 at Horizon Church in Allentown, PA comes a gathering for women unlike any other in the Lehigh Valley.Anchored: in peace will fill you with encouragement and renewed hope as you worship and learn alongside your sisters in Christ. Ep. 45 Cover to Cover End of Leviticus + Numbers 1-7
Synopsis:In this episode, we trace the thread of Jesus through the pages of the Law and into the wilderness camp of Israel — discovering that the Old Testament has always been pointing to Him.While reading in the Old Testament can feel unrelated to the New, we can use the technique to "wonder" and "notice" to help us dig deeper into the text.As we continue on, let's remember what Jesus reminded the Pharisees: Moses wrote about him!In this episode you will hear:- The unclean and clean laws point us to Jesus and his ability to make the unclean clean- God's desire has always been to dwell with his people. We see that in how he designs the tabernacle and places it in the very center of the camp.- Numbers 7 has specific Jesus moments! Synopsis:This Lent, I’m learning what it really means to rest — not in the absence of grief, but in the middle of it.In this solo episode, I’m sharing how to find rest even in sorrow. Ep. 43 Cover to Cover Exodus 4-40 + Leviticus 1-4
Synopsis:In this episode, we explore the holiness of God in Exodus and Leviticus and why it can make us uncomfortable. We reflect on how God’s detailed instructions for the tabernacle and sacrifices reveal not harshness, but His perfect goodness, love, and justice. We examine how Aaron the high priest points to Jesus—and what his story means for us as people who are forgiven, sealed, and called into a royal priesthood. Finally, we trace how the elements of the tabernacle ultimately point to Christ and the hope fulfilled in Book of Revelation. Anchored in the promise Psalm 37, this episode reminds us that even when we stumble, the holy God who calls us is the One who holds us fast.In this episode you will hear:- Why we get uncomfortable or even bored reading through Exodus and Leviticus- We're more like Aaron than we know... and that's a good thing- The tabernacle set up gives us a preview of the throne room in Heaven minus one important detail...Resources mentioned:- Cover to Cover Bible Reading Plan- Holier Than Thou by Jackie Hill PerryThank you to our Podcast Supporter:If you'd like to be a Podcast Supporter, you can do that here!Connect with T+S!Are you liking the episodes and want to connect more? Ep. 36 Preparing Him Room: Three Ways to Keep the Heart of Christmas Into the New Year
Synopsis:Merry Christmas my friends! In our conversation this week, we reflect on the meaning of “let every heart prepare Him room” and how preparing for Christ goes far beyond Christmas traditions. We explore how true joy is found in surrender—of our schedules, comfort, and control. From listening to his pings, packing meals locally to serving overseas, this conversation invites listeners to open their hands and hearts to the Holy Spirit, see Jesus in the overlooked, and discover how joy and suffering often walk hand in hand. As we look toward the coming year, the challenge is simple but costly: make room for Him, and let that space transform how we live, serve, and love.In this episode you will hear:"Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room” Is More Than a LyricExploring how familiar Christmas carols—especially Joy to the World—carry deep, challenging theology. Preparing Him room isn’t sentimental; it’s a call to surrender control, comfort, and convenience. Worship requires engaging both heart and mind.Preparing Him Room Costs Us Our ScheduleSharing real-life stories of serving locally—like Everlasting Life Ministries—and how service often feels inconvenient, uncomfortable, and unpredictable. Letting Jesus in means loosening our grip on time, expectations, and control, and learning to serve without a “savior complex.”Joy and Suffering Coexist When We See Jesus in OthersReflecting on how serving—especially globally—reshapes our perspective. Seeing joy in places of deep hardship, learning from others’ stories, and recognizing that when we serve the overlooked, we encounter Jesus Himself. Preparing Him room changes how we live, love, and see people going forward.Open Hands Lead to Open Hearts (Local and Global Service)Discussing how listening to the Holy Spirit often begins with small, ordinary steps—serving where help is needed, saying yes before having all the answers. From local church service to global missions like Asia and Africa, obedience grows through availability, not certainty.Resources mentioned:- Tommee Proffitt Christmas- Everlasting Life Ministries- Watch for the Light: Readings for Advent and ChristmasConnect with T+S!Are you liking the episodes and want to connect more? Ep. 34 How Do We End Well: 4 Thoughts to Prepare for Family Gatherings
Synopsis:In this pre-Thanksgiving episode, we talk about what it means to end well in light of the holidays—with our families, our friendships, and the people we love most. We will talk about choosing grace, releasing expectations, and asking Jesus to help us end well. When family feels complicated and gatherings feel fragile, may this episode offer warmth, wisdom, and hope.In this episode you will hear:Ending well begins with the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We can’t control other people’s actions or reactions, but we can invite the Holy Spirit to shape our own responses, soften our hearts, and lead us toward peace—even when it’s painful.Adjusting expectations brings freedom and gentleness. Many relational tensions come from unrealistic or unspoken expectations. Accepting loved ones as they are (not as we wish they were) creates room for peace, compassion, and healthier connection.Honest reflection helps us take ownership of our part.Rather than focusing on who’s “most at fault,” we’re invited to look at the log in our own eye. Humility and self-awareness help us contribute to healing instead of fueling hurt.Relationships are strengthened through intentional memories.Shared meals, simple traditions, kindness, and joy-filled moments become “deposits” in our relational accounts—especially in seasons where things feel fragile or tense.Grief, boundaries, and acceptance are part of loving well. Some relationships won’t be what we hope, and that loss needs to be acknowledged. Yet even in disappointment, we can choose grace, prayer, and a posture of hope—trusting that Jesus can redeem what we cannot fix.Resources mentioned:- My sister Danielle's Substack: Phantom of the Coffee- The Chronicles of Narnia Series- Sally Clarkson PodcastT+S Shoutout! Ep. 33 No Matter Where I Go: A Foster Care Story of Hope with Author Jessica Mathisen
Synopsis:This week, we’re sitting down with author Jessica Mathisen to talk about her beautiful new picture book, No Matter Where I Go — a story that reminds children (and grown-ups, too) that God never leaves us. Through gentle words and heartfelt storytelling, Jessica shares how her faith, family, and love for kids shape her writing and her message of unconditional love.Jessica always had a heart caring for children and when infertility led her and her husband to foster care, they followed the Lord's leading. She is a wife, speaker, podcaster, and author as well as a foster, bio, and adoptive mama. This year, she launched her new children's picture book, No Matter Where I Go, a story written from the perspective of a little girl in foster care. Her desire was for other kids in care to feel seen and encouraged that no matter where they go, God knows exactly where they are.Her book is not only for kids in care, but for everyone! It is a gentle way to teach all children about a different reality for so many around us.In this episode you will hear:A Family’s Journey into Foster CareJessica shares how she and her husband first felt called into the world of foster care, what that journey has taught them, and how it’s changed their understanding of love and family. The Story Behind the StorybookDiscover how No Matter Where I Go was born — the inspiration, the heart, and the message that grew from Jessica’s real-life experiences of caring for children who need a safe place to land.Trusting God with Every OutcomeJessica offers gentle encouragement for parents and caregivers to release control and trust God’s plan — even when the path is uncertain or the story doesn’t unfold as expected. The Power of CommunityLearn why none of us are meant to walk this road alone, and how strong, supportive communities make all the difference for families involved in foster care.A Call to CompassionJessica challenges us to open our hearts and hands — reminding us that everyone has a part to play in the foster care story, whether by fostering, supporting, or simply showing up in love.Resources mentioned:- Jessica's book No Matter Where I Go-Jessica's website- Follow Jessica on IG and her podcast Fullness of Joy- Ready or Not by Pam Parish- Corrie ten Boom The Hiding Place - Katherine Wolf Hope HealsT+S Shoutout!
