78. Trolling Comments to Genuine Compliments
This episode covers a lot and it's a true peek into my brain and what goes on there!I move through a real-life contrast: a nasty Instagram comment about my past and a thoughtful compliment from a listener just hours later. I use that swing to unpack duality, emotional neutrality, and how we can protect our energy while still staying honest with ourselves. • posting online means inviting criticism and deciding what deserves a response • choosing neutrality without deleting your feelings or gaslighting yourself • how assumptions and shame keep people silent about abusive relationships • pursuing a dream with full focus and accepting what it costs • getting a hobby for pure joy in a monetized culture • learning creative skills slowly and wrestling with when art is finished • living in the liminal space and doing small things that match your future self Send us Fan MailIf you want the deeper lessons behind strength training, join my newsletter called Between Reps: Building the Unbreakable Woman. The decision that protects you can be the same decision that makes you feel sick to your stomach. If you have ever set a boundary and then spiraled with guilt, doubt, or the fear of being “too much,” this conversation is for you.I’m pulling back the curtain on what burnout really looked like in my fitness coaching career & I share what finally clicked for me.You’ll hear the bigger arc too, from leaving corporate America, going all in on personal training, burning out under an online coaching grind, stepping away into construction, and then coming back to the gym with a different lens. If you’re ready to protect your peace, trust your gut, and build a healthier work-life balance without losing your heart, listen now. 76. The Safety Tax
The most expensive part of getting across town is not always the fare. Sometimes it is the vigilance, the tight shoulders, the scanning, the calculation you do every minute just to feel safe enough to move through the world.I’m taking you with me on a real-life decision: driving into Manhattan during rush hour instead of taking the train. I talk through the hidden safety checklist many of us run from the second we step outside, why that constant hypervigilance is so draining, and how the commute can follow you home long after you’ve arrived. We also get into the emotional side of self-protection: what happens when people minimize your concerns, how gaslighting can make you question your own judgment, and why I’m done apologizing for boundaries. I share practical self-care tools that help me come down from a wired state.Tune in to get the big takeaway, which might surprise you.Send us Fan MailIf you want the deeper lessons behind strength training, join my newsletter called Between Reps: Building the Unbreakable Woman. 73. "Am I Too Old?" The Question That Breaks My Heart

I share four practical steps to start lifting safely, build confidence, and track real progress.• the “too old” myth and how social media fuels it • why muscles respond to training at any age and what hypertrophy means • how fitness marketing sells insecurity and fake body labels • why the deadlift is functional and confidence building • what actually gets in the way: coaching gaps, too much too soon, fear, mobility needs • four action steps• the deeper reason strength matters:Did you know you can send me a text message or a voicemail? 71. Pressure Is a Privilege
Pressure has a way of getting personal fast. Not the everyday stress of traffic or deadlines, but the kind that makes you wonder if you’re really cut out for the thing you want. I go back to a moment that still blows my mind: at 15 years old, I worked inside the oncology department at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, helping in a cancer research lab and sitting at round tables with doctors. It matured me, stretched me, and also introduced me to high-stakes environments way earlier than most people experience. That early intensity didn’t end when I clocked out. I talk honestly about growing up with pressure at home, the emotional cost of being pushed toward “acceptable” futures, and how repeated shut-downs can turned into an inner voice that said "you are not enough". From applying to West Point and considering big life paths to struggling through a major that didn’t fit, this is a real look at how family expectations can shape identity, confidence, and decision-making. We also go into the body side of pressure: how the gym can be a powerful tool for self-care and mental health, then quietly become another place to punish yourself through comparison, perfectionism, and never feeling done. I break down the difference between productive pressure that builds you and destructive pressure that tears you down, plus the inner work that helped me shift my self-talk, rethink worth, and start carrying pressure like a privilege instead of a threat. If you’ve been feeling anxious, stuck, or stretched thin, press play and sit with the questions I share near the end. 62. Echo Chambers, Intuition, & The Courage To Be Weird
Feeling stuck in an echo chamber where every scroll sounds the same? We dig into the cost of chasing trends, the courage to be weird, and what it takes to rebuild after a flop without diluting your voice. From raw early work to polished releases, we unpack why the projects that matter most often start as outliers—and how to hold your vision long enough for the right people to find it.I share why I left a few platforms, what pulled me toward Substack, and how separating art from content changed my creative energy. We talk about the difference between making for clicks and making for truth, and why choosing rooms that reward depth can revive your curiosity. This is a practical conversation, too: I map out the plan for 2026, how my in-person coaching and this podcast connect, and the decision to pivot a heavy online course into a private podcast designed for real schedules and real workouts. If you’ve wrestled with imposter syndrome or stalled projects, you’ll hear an approach for telling fear from intuition and a simple way to try again differently. 61. Find Your True Inner Voice
What if the voice guiding your choices isn’t yours at all? We dive into the messy, liberating work of separating true self-talk from the scripts we inherited from family, culture, and perfectionism. I share how returning to pen and paper slowed my mind long enough to hear what mattered, and how a simple morning routine created space for clarity before the day got loud. From autonomy in relationships to recognizing when “self-sufficiency” is armor, we trace how to meet discomfort with curiosity instead of judgment. 60. Holding The Vision: Five Tools To See Things Through
Ever feel like your goal is miles away and the road just got foggy? We go straight at that feeling and break it down into choices you can make today. We start by calling out self-sabotage in the messy middle—the quiet ways you undo a strong day with “earned” extras, the guilt spirals, and the over-corrections that follow. Then we reframe the standard: your word is bond. That doesn’t mean forcing through pain; it means adapting the plan while keeping the promise. From there, we build tools you can use immediately. We reject hustle culture and lean into strategic rest, reminding you to refine the plan, not the goal, when life gets heavy. If your 2026 goals already feel wobbly, this conversation gives you a reset and a route. Save it for the days when you want to quit, share it with someone who’s grinding alone, and tell us the one commitment you’re making right now. 52. Grow Without Abandoning Who You Were
A single song can crack open a lifetime. When a classic New York club sound resurfaced, it sent me back to the girl I used to be—and forward to the woman I’m becoming. That rush of memory set the stage for a frank, compassionate look at real growth: the kind that shows up in your boundaries, your breath, and the way you treat people.I share three grounding questions that helped my mindset as I integrate old self with the new. We talk about the dark side of “doing the work,” where therapy-speak and morning routines turn into checkboxes and status symbols, and how to bring healing down to earth through everyday choices. From leaving a toxic relationship to rebuilding a nervous system that trusts peace, this episode connects personal stories with practical tools you can use today. If you’ve ever felt like you had to abandon your past to become your future, this conversation offers another path: integration. We explore boundaries that are firm but humane, the identity shift that happens when suffering is no longer your baseline, and the quiet courage of acclimating to a life that finally fits. 51. Inside A Prison: Visiting My Dad When I Was Young
A snowy hill, a swing set, and two kids smiling at the camera—what you can’t see is the watchtower just beyond the frame. I share the story behind a photo taken inside a New York State maximum security prison, where weekend trailer visits promised a temporary version of home.We pull back the curtain on how those visits worked—groceries through security, IDs surrendered, counts called in the cold—and why a teenager would choose to spend precious weekends under prison rules. Along the way, I talk about what happens when the myth of a parent collapses and how I stopped confusing endurance with loyalty. The conversation moves from edge to softness, from hyper-vigilance to accurate naming of what hurts and what simply disappoints. We explore the idea that people love only to the depth they love themselves, and how to protect your heart without hardening it beyond repair. If this resonates, please let me know by sending a text. 50. Unsticking Your Creative Brain
Stuck and staring at a blinking cursor? We’ve all been there. We start with the jam: notes that won’t cooperate, ideas that feel foggy, and the impulse to grind harder. Then we pivot to changes that work in minutes—walking, doing small chores, or pulling out a canvas and letting color lead. From there, we dive into the question that anchors my coaching: How is that working for you? If you’re ready to trade pressure for presence and build momentum one small step at a time, press play. Ever been asked for your advice, poured your best thinking into it, and then watched the asker ignore everything? In this episode, I open up about advice fatigue, why “picking your brain” often becomes extraction, and how to decide who gets access to your expertise without guilt. From there, we dig into the link between safety and trust. I talk through routines that protect mental health and performance—early nights, early mornings, quiet rituals—and the social tradeoffs that come with discipline. 48. Life is Messy
The spiral notebook told the truth—life refuses to stay in neat sections. If you’ve ever waited for the right time, the perfect plan, or the flawless caption, this conversation will nudge you to leap before you feel ready. We unpack the hidden ways learning becomes hiding, and how small daily action compounds into serious progress. I break down the shift from memorizing every detail to a faster loop—skim, try, assess, refine. Mentorship plays a big role. I talk about hiring the right coaches for targeted outcomes, cutting social noise, and aligning strategy with values so you stop spinning. We also get real about social media in 2025: audiences crave humanity. Polished is fine, but the unfiltered you builds trust and reach. Reframe vanity metrics into real people and your work gets lighter, braver, and better. The takeaway is simple and strong: forgive the rough edges, publish the 90 percent draft, and let your voice lead your strategy. If this resonated, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs the push, and leave a quick review to help others find the show.Send us Fan MailIf you want the deeper lessons behind strength training, join my newsletter called Between Reps: Building the Unbreakable Woman. 47. Keep Showing Up
What if the difference between stuck and steady is simply refusing to stop? We dig into the messy middle of consistency—the days you don’t feel inspired, the moments your work feels small, and the temptation to quit before anything compounds. A tender listener message arrives right as doubt creeps in, and it hits like a sign: stories matter when they help someone feel less alone. That reminder sets the tone for a candid look at motivation, discipline, and the quiet power of micro actions that stack into visible change. We talk through the nuance: when showing up is the bravest choice—and when it becomes a performance that costs more than it gives. If your feelings shift like weather, let them inform you, not drive the car. Consistency isn’t glamorous, but it’s honest—and it’s how you earn a life you don’t want to escape. Listen for practical strategies, relatable stories, and a straight-talking push to keep showing up, especially when no one’s watching. 46. Do less to get further
Tired of telling yourself you’ll “figure it out” while your to-do list grows louder than your own thoughts? I’m sharing a different playbook: do less, move slower on purpose, and buy back your time so progress stops depending on willpower. From corporate conditioning to solopreneur burnout, I walk through the hard truth I learned the slow way—your system is only as strong as your ability to delegate, simplify, and trust yourself to act before you feel ready. We dig into the cost of constant notifications and the myth that more information equals better outcomes. Whether you’re an entrepreneur juggling every role or a professional swimming in process and meetings, this conversation offers a calmer path to results—less hustle, more intention, and a clearer line between what only you can do and what should be handed off. 45. Who deserves your unfiltered joy?
What if the most sacred part of you is the one that laughs too loud, dances in the kitchen, and tells corny jokes at the worst possible time—and what if that part deserves VIP treatment? Today I share personal stories about being “too much,” the difference between genuine effort and a polished “representative,” and why your playful side needs protection, not a muzzle. As we move, I talk about the moments that taught me to guard my joy: a partner who shut down when I danced, the thrill of nightlife in New York, and the loneliness that followed when I hoped a crowded room would translate into deep connection. Schedule play like an essential practice. Revisit the music that formed you and notice what comes alive. Name the people who welcome your unfiltered self, and if you can’t name them yet, start building that circle with small, brave steps. Your joy isn’t frivolous; it’s fuel for resilience, presence, and better relationships. 44. Trust Paradox: When to Leap, When to Play Safe
Trust—it's the foundation of our relationships, our decisions, and ultimately our growth. Fresh from a week at PowerMonkey Fitness Camp in Tennessee, this episode dives deep into what happens when we're forced to build trust quickly and under pressure.Through the lens of VO2 Max testing, where I guide people through their physical limits while they wear masks and run on treadmills, we explore the fascinating moment when someone must decide to keep pushing or pull back. That split second where pain kicks in, breathing changes, and the body starts to resist—it's where the most profound lessons about trust emerge. Those who excel aren't necessarily the most athletic; they're the ones who understand when to surrender to the process and trust both themselves and the person guiding them. This exploration of trust takes a personal turn as I share a traumatic childhood swimming experience that fundamentally altered my relationship with trust. Whether you're facing high-pressure situations, navigating difficult relationships, or simply trying to determine if you should add more weight to your next workout set, this episode offers insights on balancing risk versus reward. You'll discover why healing yourself might be the most powerful contribution you can make to healing the world, and why slowing down and creating space for rest might be the counterintuitive key to building unshakable self-trust.Listen now, and if you find value in these conversations, please leave a review to help others discover tools for building their own unbreakable resilience.Send us Fan MailIf you want the deeper lessons behind strength training, join my newsletter called Between Reps: Building the Unbreakable Woman. 43. Rediscovering Joy: Why Making Art Matters to Your Mental Health
Ever wonder what happened to those creative passions that once lit up your childhood? The drawings proudly displayed on refrigerators, the dance routines performed in living rooms, the stories written in spiral notebooks? Somewhere along the way, many of us packed these joys away, convinced they weren't practical or profitable enough to deserve space in our adult lives. This episode challenges that notion head-on, exploring why reconnecting with creative expression is vital for mental resilience and genuine self-care. I share my own journey with dance and various outlets. When we treat creativity like a muscle that needs regular exercise, we strengthen not just our artistic abilities but our capacity for joy, processing emotions, and connecting with ourselves. Movement practices like dance offer particularly powerful benefits for clearing stagnant energy and processing trauma that talk therapy alone sometimes can't reach. The world needs your unique creative expression, not because it might make you famous, but because it makes you more fully human. Peace doesn't happen by accident. 39. Digital Access & Options
The digital landscape has created what I call "the illusion of access" – a false belief that finding someone's profile justifies making personal contact. I share three revealing personal experiences. This phenomenon intersects with another modern dilemma – "the illusion of options." Many people claim to want meaningful relationships while remaining perpetually distracted by their phones, afraid to commit because someone "better" might be a swipe away. The paradox? We're more connected yet increasingly lonely because we've lost the ability to be fully present with the person sitting across from us.Setting boundaries isn't selfish – it's necessary for your wellbeing. I offer practical strategies for managing digital accessibility while maintaining your peace: being intentional about what you share online, communicating clear expectations about how and when people can contact you, and prioritizing in-person connection over digital distractions. These boundaries protect not just your personal space but your capacity for genuine connection.Your safety matters. Your peace matters. And sometimes, protecting both means recognizing when someone is crossing a line, even when they try to disguise it as innocent connection. How are you protecting your digital boundaries? Share your thoughts or experiences, and let's continue this important conversation.Send us Fan MailIf you want the deeper lessons behind strength training, join my newsletter called Between Reps: Building the Unbreakable Woman. 37. What Do You Do?: Crafting Your Identity
Have you ever stumbled when someone asks "What do you do?" That seemingly simple question often leaves us fumbling for words, underselling our value, or rambling without clarity. After attending a powerful female entrepreneurship conference in New York City, I'm sharing a perspective-shifting approach to answering this question in a way that truly captures your essence and impact. As a multi-passionate creative who's navigated various professional identities, I understand the complexity of defining yourself when you don't fit neatly into one box. Many of us feel pressure to present ourselves as "pure entrepreneurs" or downplay certain aspects of our professional lives due to perceived judgment. My non-linear path has taught me that there's no shame in creating a professional identity that combines entrepreneurial ventures with traditional employment if that arrangement creates a life you find fulfilling. What matters isn't whether whether you're building an authentic life aligned with your values. When someone asks what you do, start with "I help..." followed by who you help and what transformation you facilitate. This immediately shifts focus from your title to your impact. 36. Finding Freedom in Endings
Ever noticed how losing something unexpectedly creates space for something better? When my favorite kitchen appliance broke down after years of faithful service, I reluctantly went shopping for a replacement. What I discovered was something I never knew existed. This wasn't just a replacement; it was a significant upgrade that would never have entered my life had my old appliance not died. This experience perfectly mirrors so many transitions we face. Whether it's the end of a relationship, leaving a toxic workplace, or outgrowing a living situation, we often cling desperately to what's familiar—even when it no longer serves us. We tell stories that position ourselves as victims, focusing on what others did rather than how we responded or what we learned. Drawing from my own experiences working in construction (an industry that was clearly wrong for me) and observing friends emerging from controlling relationships, I explore how we become conditioned to accept limitations and walk on eggshells. The deconditioning process—rediscovering who we are without these external definitions—takes time but leads to profound freedom. So the next time something breaks down in your life, consider that it might be clearing space for an unexpected upgrade you never knew you needed.Send us Fan MailIf you want the deeper lessons behind strength training, join my newsletter called Between Reps: Building the Unbreakable Woman. Ever notice how your gut instinct picks up on energy shifts before your conscious mind does? That invisible force guiding you is more powerful than most of us realize. In this raw, unfiltered conversation, we dive into the quantum physics of energy and how it shapes our reality. I share why I've found that my most authentic content emerges when I trust my intuition rather than over-planning—a principle that extends far beyond podcasting into every area of life. We explore the fascinating intersection between energy, manifestation, and self-trust, examining how the gap between where you are and where you want to be can only be bridged when your actions align with your desires. The conversation takes a personal turn as I reflect on past relationships and the crucial role trust plays in building any solid foundation. Whether in romantic partnerships, friendships, or professional connections, the absence of trust creates an unstable environment that eventually crumbles. 33. Awaken Your Creative Potential
Creativity isn't reserved for the naturally gifted—it's a muscle we can all strengthen through strategic practice. After spending decades believing I lacked creative ability, I recently had a revelation while buzzing around my apartment on an early Saturday morning. My studio was filled with creative stations: painting supplies, podcast equipment, a vision board, and even a puzzle corner. How did someone who once believed she had "no creative bones" in her body develop so many creative pursuits? The answer lies in applying the same three-part framework I've used throughout my fitness career: information, implementation, and integration. We often get trapped collecting knowledge without ever putting it into practice. The real transformation happens when we implement what we've learned and then integrate the practices that work for us personally. Even without innate creative gifts, you can cultivate creativity through intentional practice.I challenge you to explore those curiosities you've been ignoring—the ones that keep you up at night or spark excitement when you imagine pursuing them. 32. Forgiveness and Making Peace with the Past
What happens when a routine doctor's appointment triggers a flood of unresolved trauma? This raw, unfiltered episode takes you through my unexpected 48-hour emotional journey after my cancer-survivor mother needed a hospital stay.During what should have been a simple appointment, I found myself catapulted back to 2007 – when my mom battled brain cancer while I juggled a soul-crushing corporate job and an unsupportive relationship. The memory of her telling me to "stop fucking crying" during one vulnerable moment had shaped years of emotional suppression that I'm only now beginning to unpack. We don't need to live in our memories to learn from them. "You can look back, get your notes, make your mental checklist and then move on," I share, inviting you to consider where you might be dwelling unnecessarily in past pain. The most transformative insight came when examining my approach to self-growth. For decades, I thought healing meant abandoning my former self. Now I understand that true integration means thanking those earlier versions of myself for doing their best with limited tools. Whether you're navigating complex family dynamics, processing old wounds, or seeking to make peace with your own history, this episode offers a gentle reminder that forgiveness – especially of yourself – might be the key.Send us Fan MailIf you want the deeper lessons behind strength training, join my newsletter called Between Reps: Building the Unbreakable Woman. 31. I Never Fit In Anywhere: Navigating Cultural Identity as a Nuyorican
Have you ever felt like you don't quite belong anywhere? That feeling has followed me throughout my entire life as a Nuyorican with a distinctly Hispanic last name but without the language skills to match. My journey with cultural identity began in childhood, where my Puerto Rican parents made the difficult choice not to teach me Spanish—a decision rooted in their desire to protect me from the discrimination they had faced. "We want to make sure that you do not face as much racism as we have," they told me when I asked why we didn't speak Spanish at home. This well-intentioned protection created a disconnect that followed me into adulthood.School environments only magnified this sense of displacement. In the Bronx, kids called me "Blondie" because of my appearance, while in Westchester County, I faced different challenges, including being falsely accused of being an undercover narcotics officer by other students of color. Now in my forties, I'm embarking on a deliberate journey to reclaim parts of my heritage through language immersion, committing to daily Spanish practice despite having tried and failed before. This path has led me to three powerful questions that might help you explore your own identity - tune in for more. What parts of your identity are you reconnecting with? 30. Never Quite Ready: Taking Action Despite Self-Doubt
In this vulnerable episode, I share a recent brand photoshoot experience that had me battling waves of insecurity despite years of camera experience. Despite taking over 1,000 photos, my inner perfectionist—formed through years as a dancer and bodybuilder—kept finding flaws. The mantra that pulled me through? "I am enough and what I'm doing is important."This triggered memories of perhaps my greatest personal challenge: after earning my IFBB Pro card in 2010, I gained over 50 pounds within months. Gym sessions became exercises in humiliation. There were days the physical pain kept me bedridden, and I questioned if I'd ever feel comfortable in my own skin again.Looking at my recent photos against the backdrop of that difficult chapter reveals an important truth: readiness is largely a myth. Had I waited to feel completely confident before this photoshoot, an important project would remain just an idea. Growth happens when we step into discomfort despite our insecurities. We're never going to feel 100% ready for the things—but that's precisely why we must begin anyway. What dream are you postponing until you feel ready? 29. What About Me? How This Question Changed Me
"Well, what about me?" These four simple words transformed my understanding of boundaries and self-care. What initially shocked me—his casual request for coffee when supplies were low—ultimately gave me permission to prioritize my own needs without guilt. The beauty of this lesson was its unexpectedness. While our relationship didn't last, his natural ability to advocate for himself showed me what healthy boundary-setting looks like. During the isolation of lockdown, I had time to reflect on this interaction. Where was I making unnecessary sacrifices? With family, friends, and especially clients, I needed to learn to say "this is what works for me" without apologizing for having limits. The truth is powerfully simple: you cannot pour from an empty cup. When we fail to maintain boundaries, we end up resentful. The responsibility falls on us to clearly articulate our needs and limits, especially with those closest to us who might take our availability for granted. What I've learned is that boundaries and kindness can coexist beautifully. You can be firm without being harsh. You can say "that doesn't work for me" while still maintaining peaceful relationships.
