Episode 125: Can you out-fitness your fork? Busting myths surrounding diets and exercise
Think you can out-exercise a bad diet? Think again. The truth is, the more you work out, the hungrier you get. And you might be surprised to learn just how much effort it takes to burn off those "small" treats. Ever indulged in a Hold The Cone from Trader Joe's? Just 90 calories, but did you know you'd need to run a mile in under nine minutes or walk for 25 minutes just to burn off one mini cone? And let's not even start on heavier meals. A single pizza or a meal at Canes? That's up to 1,800 calories, and no amount of exercise can offset that in a day, considering everything else you eat. The solution? Pair your workouts with a solid nutrition plan and a basic understanding of calories. It’s not just about burning calories; it's about understanding them.

August Member of the Month: Kristi App
This month we sat down with the Godmother of the Zero Dark Thirty Krewe, Kristi App. Though Kristi swam competitively throughout her childhood and college, she joined Roux Fitness at almost 40 years old following 20 years of inconsistent workouts. While her initial goal when she joined us was to lose weight, she quickly got hooked on seeing her strength numbers improve. Like with her swim team, Roux offers Kristi the camaraderie that she didn't find while working out on her own. In addition to being a Roux member, Kristi is a self-proclaimed lifelong Stacked Coaching client. Kristi's nutrition journey began as a participant in some of Roux's nutrition challenges and then continued with Emily for individual coaching (even pre-Stacked). And unlike some of us, Kristi had an "ah ha" moment during quarantine and her nutrition and fitness clicked. She lost weight and was feeling great, despite the fact that she was no longer working with Emily. However, once things opened back up she began to see some changes in the reverse direction. Kristi made the decision to reach out to Claire so she could get some guidance on incorporating nutrition and wellness into her everyday life. Kristi is now learning to balance her social life with her nutrition goals. So, how hard is it for Kristi to get up each day to work out with the Zero Dark Thirty Krewe? Not very- working out sets the tone for her day and by 6:30am she can already check one success off her list. Kristi is a great example of when you choose yourself and we are thrilled that she is our member of the month for August 2021!

Ep. 85 - Optimizing Performance with Maysa Hannawi DPT, Active Life RX
We've got something pretty important to say... Are you ready? Just because something is good for someone, doesn't mean it's right for you. We're big believers in functional fitness and we also know the massive benefit of training in a group setting with like-minded people, but we also know that each body is different and one workout doesn't work for everyone. Today Bradley sat down with Doctor of Physical Therapy and Active Life Coach, Maysa Hannawi. Maysa realized that she could impact lives not through a clinic, but through the gym and has been helping people all over look, feel, and perform the way they want. Tune into to learn more about Maysa and what you should be doing to optimize your performance inside and outside of the gym. While you're there, like, subscribe, and leave us a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review.

Ep. 84: How to Get the Most Out of Your Training
Have you ever been working out, moving light weight, when suddenly you feel a tweak? Maybe you felt fine on your 52nd kettlebell swing, but on rep 53 your back tightens up and you can barely look at your shoes, much less drive home. Turns out, that it probably wasn't the kettlebell swing that made your back so angry and avoiding that movement in the future won't fix you. Weaknesses develop over time. And it turns out that you start loading your body from the moment you wake up, well before you even step foot into the gym. On today's episode of "Probably the Best Fitness and Nutrition Podcast" Bradley, Emily, and Sarah talk about the concept of load vs. capacity. Learn how sleep, stress, diet, injury, and your anatomy play a role in your capacity before you even start your workout, why that matters, and how to improve your capacity while moving better. 🌟 MEMBER OF THE MONTH 🌟 Charlotte Schneller
🌟 MEMBER OF THE MONTH 🌟 Some of you know her as Ya-Ya, but we all know her as Charlotte Schneller. In addition to being a Roux member and Stacked Coaching client, Charlotte is mom to our owner, Bradley Schneller. Even though Charlotte has been around Roux from the start, she was intimidated. She finally made the leap to try classes 3 years ago, but she just wasn't ready and was inconsistent. Charlotte has had diabetes for many years, but after watching her sister get sick, Charlotte flipped the script. When Roux re-opened after quarantine, she made a commitment to herself to come to the gym 3 days a week and has stayed true to that for a year now. In addition to that, she started working with Coach Claire and Stacked and has not only lost weight and become stronger, but she is off of one of her diabetes meds and has decreased her insulin. In fact, her doctor can barely keep up to adjust it because she is doing so well. Charlotte is the perfect example of what is possible when you decide to say yes to yourself and we are thrilled that she is our June 2021 Member of the Month!
