Why sleep changes after menopause and how to support it naturally

Hi and welcome back. Let's talk about something that comes up for a lot of women in midlife… Sleep not feeling the way it used to. Maybe you're falling asleep fine, but waking in the early hours. Or feeling tired even after a full night in bed. Or noticing that your sleep just feels lighter… more fragile. And if that's you, you're not doing anything wrong. This is something many women experience after menopause — and there are real, physiological reasons for it. So in today's episode, we're going to look at what actually changes in sleep during this stage of life… and more importantly, what you can do through nutrition, lifestyle, and daily rhythm to support it. Because sleep isn't random. It's responsive. And once you understand what influences it, you can start to shift it.

Reclaiming my health: my battle with illness and empowering my healing journey - or so I thought!

Hi, this episode was first published on July 10th 2024 on another platform. I'll add it in here to keep some consistency in my episodes. Back then I believed I was finallly on the mend from years of being fobbed off with internal bleeding in my colon and methanogen overgrowth. Despite my best hopes there's been a long saga since then. More explanation.  I was still very weak and recovering when I did this post. It was the best I could do back then. So forgive it, especially if it's too fast. My head was a spin, I was trying to cope with the aftermath of being barbarically treated in hospital, put into a ward of confused patients and ignored by all bar one staff member and having to get my head around after major work in the theatre there was no aftercall protcol sent to the ward.  This was my intro from 2024.  I'm back finally from serious illness! What a journey it's been to reach this stage of wellness. For years if I'd been looked after properly by GPs I'd never have had to suffer, or miss out on, so much. I'm on the mend which is the most important thing. Thankfully, after an arduous journey of medical work, and healing I'm back in the best form I've been in years. I see even more now how ill I was and only dismissed by GPs. I've a whole new perspective and determination to help myself and other woman thrive in post menopause. Yes there'll be challenges but there is so many opportunities worth being at your best to savour, enjoy and experience. Then I had to navigate my road to wellness. Still more work to do but after 8 months of recovery I can start working again, live my life and stop being the hermit I had become. Saying i's great to be alive has a whole deeper meaning to me now as I do a whole reset.   You'll find more about me on www.marianhearne.ie I did mention a freebie ready for download. It is no longer available. I will be adding this as an article on my Substack (link on my website above). You'll also find it obviously on my webstite then also. It's a glimpse of my views on ageing. If you're interested you'll find details of how you can work with me there too.   Enjoy my 8th episode of season 1. Yours in wellness Marian
