In this message, we look at Exodus 16 and the Israelites facing hunger in the wilderness. They had no clear way to feed themselves, but God provided bread from heaven every morning. He gave them exactly what they needed for that day. God’s provision began with many unknowns, but His faithfulness strengthened their confidence and revealed His greatness.In Matthew 14, Jesus takes five loaves and two fish and provides enough food for a huge crowd. Jesus knows our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. He is the true Bread of Life who came to meet our greatest need, which is to know God and have a relationship with Him. God provided for Israel, for the followers of Jesus, and for Hope Alive Church in Tokorozawa. When you wonder how to trust God in uncertain times, bring your needs to Him in prayer and look for His provision. As you learn to trust Him, you can stop holding tightly to what you have and become more generous. But how do we trust God in difficult times? In Deuteronomy 8, Israel's time in the wilderness was meant to teach them humility, dependence, and obedience. Yet in Exodus 16, we see that when life became difficult, they complained and struggled to trust God's provision.In Matthew 4, Jesus also enters the wilderness and faces testing. But where Israel failed, Jesus trusted His Father and obeyed God's Word. In Mark 5, Jairus comes to Jesus because his daughter is dying, while a woman who has suffered for twelve years reaches out to Jesus for healing. Neither of them understands everything Jesus is about to do. Still, they choose to trust Jesus more than their fear, pain, or limited understanding.In this message, we see that storms, evil spirits, sickness, and even death are no match for the authority of Jesus. Many of us go through seasons where growth feels slow, prayers seem unanswered, and it is hard to see what God is doing. Yet Jesus teaches that just as a seed grows beneath the surface where no one can see it, God is always at work in the lives of His people. Even when there is no visible progress, He is strengthening and deepening the roots of our faith. We will also explore the parable of the mustard seed and discover how God can take something small and grow it into something that blesses many others. Difficult seasons do not mean God has stopped working. In fact, He may be doing some of His greatest work beneath the surface. If you are walking through a challenging season, be encouraged. This week in Mark 3 we looked at two very different responses to Jesus and two very different outcomes. The Pharisees saw the power of Jesus and rejected Him, but Jesus declared that He had come to bind the strong man and bring victory over sin, evil, and death. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has already won the victory we desperately need every day.We also looked at Jesus’ warning about hardening our hearts to the voice of God. The danger is not one mistake or one failure. The danger is continually rejecting the leading of the Holy Spirit until our hearts become hardened. God is still speaking, leading, convicting, and calling us to follow Him today.No matter what difficulty you are facing, Jesus is enough. Bring your struggles, temptations, fears, and burdens to Him. True joy is connected to contentment. In a world that constantly pushes us to want more, experience more, and compare ourselves with others, the Bible points us toward a different way to live. Paul writes these words from prison, yet he says he has learned the secret of being content in every situation. Whether in need or in abundance, his strength came from Christ. Contentment was not something that came naturally to him. It was something he learned by keeping his eyes on Jesus. This passage reminds us that contentment grows when we look up to Christ for strength, look out to serve others with generosity, and look around to recognize God’s faithful provision in our lives. It rushes in first thing in the morning and tries to set the tone for your entire day. But Philippians 4 shows us that joy can actually outweigh worry. Paul teaches us to stand firm in the Lord, pursue unity, and bring every anxious thought to God in prayer. Worry imagines the worst. Thanksgiving remembers who God is. When we begin with gratitude and lay our requests before Him, His peace doesn’t just comfort us — it guards our hearts and minds.One huge takeaway from this message is that joy grows when we think on purpose. You may not control every thought that enters your mind, but you absolutely control what you dwell on. When you fix your thoughts on what is true, noble, right, and praiseworthy, your mind shifts from panic to peace. Start your mornings getting your heart glad in the Lord before the noise of emails and news takes over. Joy isn’t accidental — it’s cultivated. 喜びは注ぐことから生まれる ・ Joy Is Found in Pouring Out 今週のHope Aliveでは、ピリピ人への手紙2章から学びました。そして一つの問いを考えました。喜びは間違ったもので自分を満たすことにあるのではなく、自分を注ぎ出すことにあるのではないでしょうか。私たちは生まれたその日から、誰かの犠牲によって支えられてきました。この箇所でパウロは、イエス、パウロ、テモテ、エパフロディトという四人の姿を通して、注ぎ出す生き方を示します。イエスはご自分を低くして十字架で命を与えてくださいました。パウロは困難の中でも喜びました。テモテは自分よりも人を大切にしました。エパフロディトは命がけで仕えました。状況ではなく、神の御心に生きることから喜びが生まれます。今週、誰かのために自分を注ぐ一つの具体的な行動を決めてみましょう。そこに本当の喜びがあります。 This week at Hope Alive we continued in Philippians 2 and asked a simple but challenging question: what if joy is not found in filling up with the wrong things, but in pouring out? From the very beginning of our lives, someone sacrificed for us. In this passage Paul points us to four examples of lives poured out for others: Jesus, Paul, Timothy, and Epaphroditus. Jesus humbled Himself and gave His life on the cross. Paul rejoiced even while facing death. Timothy put others first. Epaphroditus risked his life to serve. Their joy was not based on circumstances but on living for God’s purposes. We were reminded to work out our salvation, trust that God is at work in us, hold firmly to the word of life, stop complaining, and intentionally rejoice with others. But the gospel turns that upside down. Righteousness is not something we build. It is something we receive.Paul doesn’t run to be accepted. He runs because he already is.This message is about letting go of empty striving and discovering a fullness that never fades. It’s about trading performance for grace, pressure for peace, and fear for love.You are already loved. Stop running for it. Parenting comes with both joy and weight. As parents, we often wonder if we are preparing our children well for adulthood. More importantly, we ask how we can help them know and follow God. Deuteronomy 6 shows us that God calls families to remember His faithfulness, talk about His love, and build habits that point us back to Him.This passage reminds us that God rescued His people, sustained them, and gave them commands for life.
