Carter Zimmerman is one of the Geomatics student at the University who is working towards his graduation. Mehdi Khalaj, who is working towards his PhD thesis and has made his debut as a lecturer for the CMPT 280 classes this Summer. His journey began back in Iran where he worked as an Investment and Risk Analyst. Later, when moving to Canada, he transitioned into becoming a student once again but in the Computer Science field. After accomplishing his Computer Science Bachelor’s degree, he went ahead to finish his Master’s through the Accelerated program. Currently, he is doing his PhD with Quantum Bioinformatics. In our conversations with him, we learnt a lot about his plans for the future, how he manages his time and what he plans to do after his education. About twenty years ago, Dr Schmirler started studying at the university as a student. Soon as years passed by, he realized his passion for Statistics and his profound love for numbers. He has submerged himself into never-ending knowledge. After his Master’s thesis, he decided to further pursue his education for his PhD and then his postdoctoral education. As he taught classes such as STAT 242 and STAT 345, he worked towards curating resources and teaching materials for students that are easy to comprehend. In one of our most knowledgeable and insightful podcasts, we speak with Owen Deis, who is currently finishing up his undergraduate honours program in History. Today’s podcast, we learn a little bit more about Osebi Daudu who is working towards his fourth year of his Physics Honors undergraduate program. Throughout our conversation, we learn about his growth from his first year self and how he has evolved to find passion for his physics specialization in materials science. What started from his Engineering degree ended up into his Physics degree while moving from one continent to another. In his current research, he works as a member of the university’s Beamteam and also actively works in the Canadian Light Source to collect data for his research. With our discussion, we gain more insights about Physics and his profounding love for the work that he has been doing.
