    You're Fooling Yourself (James 1:19-27) | Point Blank — Week 3

What if the problem isn't that you haven't heard enough? What if you've heard plenty — and just keep walking away?James 1:19-27 is one of the most confrontational passages in the New Testament. James doesn't call out pagans or skeptics. He calls out church people — people who show up, hear the Word, nod along, and go home unchanged. He has one word for that: self-deception.In this message from our series Point Blank: Faith That Doesn't Flinch, we dig into what it actually takes to let the Word of God do what it came to do — and why most of us keep walking away from the one mirror that tells us the truth. The Word that exposes you is the same Word that can save you. But only if you don't walk away from what it shows.

Stop Blaming Everything Around You. The Problem Is Inside You. | Point Blank — Week 2

You know the list. The culture is too sexualized. The season is too busy. The cost of living is too high. The enemy is too active. There's always a reason why you can't seem to break the cycle — and it always points somewhere other than you.James 1:9–18 doesn't let that stand. This week in our series through the book of James, we get into the anatomy of temptation — how it actually works, where it actually comes from, and why the excuse-making isn't just dishonest. It's costing you something you can't get back. The gospel collision of this passage isn't a moral lecture. It's a single word swap that changes everything. Not I can't. I won't. And the only reason that word is even available to you is because of what God already did.If you've been losing the same battles for years and blaming everything outside yourself — this one is for you.

Why Is Following Jesus So Hard? (James 1:1–8) | Point Blank - Week 1

Nobody told you following Jesus would feel like this. You believed. You trusted. And life didn't get easier — it got harder. Now you're sitting in the middle of a trial you didn't choose, wondering if any of this is actually worth it.James wrote this letter to people asking that exact question. Scattered. Suffering. Holding onto faith with both hands and losing their grip. His answer wasn't what they expected. And it probably isn't what you expect either. In this first message of our new series Point Blank: Faith That Doesn't Flinch, we're opening James 1:1–8 and confronting one of the hardest commands in Scripture — and the one truth that changes everything about how you walk through pain.Joy isn't found after the fire. It's forged in it.

He's Not Just the Lamb, He's the Lord | Easter Sunday | Behold the Lamb - WK 4

The tomb is empty. So why do so many of us live like it doesn't change anything? In this Easter Sunday message from John 20, Pastor Greg Rains walks through one of the most important chapters in all of Scripture — the resurrection of Jesus Christ. From the empty tomb to Mary in the garden, from the locked upper room to Thomas's confession, this message confronts the most dangerous kind of unbelief: believing just enough to show up, but not enough to let it cost you anything. If you've ever called Jesus Savior but kept control of your own life — this message is for you.

The Name You Won’t Say (But Need To) | Behold the Lamb - WK 3

There’s a name you won’t say out loud. Maybe not even to God. A person you’ve cut off, gone silent on, decided no longer deserves your awareness. You call it moving on. But the wound is still there — and silence never healed anything. In this message from the series Behold the Lamb, we look at what Jesus does while He’s dying. He prays for His enemies. He welcomes the criminal beside Him. He tears the curtain open. And He asks us the hardest question of the series: if the Lamb died for His enemies — what will we do with ours?Text: John 18:38b–40 | Luke 23:32–46

The Cup Jesus Left on the Table | Behold the Lamb - WK 2

On the night Jesus was betrayed, He did something that would have stopped every Jewish person in that room cold. He left the Passover unfinished. The fourth cup — the cup of completion, the cup that closed the Passover for fifteen hundred years — was still on the table when He walked out into the night.Where did that cup go?In this message from Mark 14:32–50, we follow Jesus into the garden of Gethsemane — where He fell to the ground, prayed with everything He had, and made the most important decision in human history. Not on the cross. In a garden. In the dark. Alone. While His closest friends slept ten feet away. This is Week 2 of our Behold the Lamb series — and it's a message about the gap between the faith most of us have been handed and the faith Jesus is actually calling us to. Easy faith raises a hand. Real faith picks up a cup.If you've ever wondered why your faith feels like it costs you nothing — this message is for you.

The Crowd Got It Wrong — and So Do We | Behold the Lamb - WK 1

With the Triumphal Entry, the crowd got it right and wrong at the same time. They called Him King — and He was. But they wanted a general, and God sent a Lamb. In Luke 19, Jesus rides into Jerusalem on the exact day every Jewish household was selecting their Passover lamb — and He weeps over a city that can't see what's right in front of them. This isn't just their story. It's ours. We've learned to celebrate Jesus without actually depending on Him. This message will change the way you see the Triumphal Entry — and challenge you to carry what the crowd refused to carry. He wept. He went. Now we go.

The Weapon You're Not Using | Behold the Christ - WK 5

The enemy doesn't need to take you out. He just needs to keep you distracted. In this message from John 10, Pastor Greg Rains unpacks the thief's real strategy — and reveals the one weapon most believers aren't using. If you've been feeling spiritually exhausted, numb, or like God feels distant, this message is for you.

The Man Who Commands the Dead | Behold the Christ - Week 4

What if your biggest problem with Jesus isn't that you've rejected him — it's that you've underestimated him? In John 11, we meet a Jesus who delays on purpose, weeps at a grave, and shouts a dead man back to life. He is not tame. He is not manageable. And apathy toward him isn't a devotion problem — it's a vision problem. This message will challenge the way you see Jesus and why it changes everything.

  10. 161

No One Ever Talked Like This | Behold the Christ - Week 3

Everyone has a response to Jesus. The minimizer calls Him a good teacher. The skeptic says He doesn't add up. The hostile man wants Him silenced. The curious man circles from a safe distance. And the respectful man walks away impressed — but unchanged. In John 7, temple guards were sent to arrest Jesus. They came back empty-handed. Not because they couldn't grab Him. Because they couldn't stop listening to Him.That's the most dangerous place you can be. Close enough to feel it. Far enough to walk away. This message from John 7 asks the question every person in the room has to answer: Which response is yours?Jesus doesn't want your applause. He wants your allegiance.

Fear Him, Fear Nothing | Behold the Christ - Week 1

Fear Him, Fear NothingMost of us have our fear in the wrong place. We're terrified of our circumstances—the storm that's threatening to sink us—but Jesus? He's comfortable. Manageable. Safe. But here's the problem: A Jesus you don't fear can't save you from the storms you do fear.In Mark 4:35-41, the disciples thought they were going to drown in a storm. But when Jesus stood up and commanded the wind and waves to be silent—they became MORE afraid of Him than they were of the storm that almost killed them. And that changes everything. This message unpacks what it actually means to fear Jesus (hint: it's not terror—it's awe), why we've tried to domesticate the King of creation into a life coach, and what freedom looks like when you finally get your fear in the right place.Bottom line: Fear Him, fear nothing. If you've been more afraid of your circumstances than you are of Jesus, this one's for you.📖 Main Text: Mark 4:35-41⏱️ Watch Time: [Insert time]🎯 Series: Behold the Christ

Seek It | Vision Without Prayer Is Just Planning | Hands for the House Week 2

In Week 2 of our "Hands for the House" series, Pastor Greg unpacks what Nehemiah did BEFORE he ever approached the king about rebuilding Jerusalem's walls. Spoiler: it wasn't strategy. It was surrender. This message explores three postures we need when seeking God for something big: DEPENDENCE (seek God before you move), ALIGNMENT (let prayer and fasting reshape your heart), and POWER (trust that God's vision requires God's power).Whether you're facing a major life decision, leading a church through transition, or simply want to learn how to hear from God before you act—this message will challenge how you approach prayer, fasting, and seeking God's direction.— — — — — — — — — —📖 SCRIPTURES REFERENCED:• Nehemiah 1:4-11 (NLT)• 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT)• Ephesians 3:20-21 (NLT)🎯 KEY TAKEAWAYS:• Before we act, we ask• Fasting doesn't impress God—it empties us so God can fill us• We don't need a better plan—we need God's powerABOUT NORTHVIEW CHURCH:We're a church in Kodak, Tennessee passionate about making disciples who make disciples. What happens when God gives a church a vision? It starts with a burden, requires courage to communicate, and demands both mission and movement. A Tale of Two Kings | Luke 2 | Behold the King Series

We think we have to climb up to God, clean up to belong, and earn our way to peace. But the story of Jesus' birth shatters all three lies. While Caesar Augustus ruled from his throne, demanding allegiance, God sent His Son to a manger—coming down so we could come close. In this Christmas message, we contrast Caesar's empire with Jesus' Kingdom and discover what it means that the King came down. You don't have to work your way up. You don't have to get your life together first. You don't have to control everything to find peace. The King came down. You can come close.Scripture: Luke 1:26-38, 46-55; 2:1-20Series: Behold the King | Behold the Christ | Behold the Lamb🔔 Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications so you don’t miss a message!

    Three Responses to King Jesus

When King Jesus is born, everyone has to respond. In this sermon on Matthew 2:1–12, we look at three very different responses to the birth of Christ in the Christmas story. The wise men (Magi) travel 800 miles to worship the newborn King. Herod feels threatened and plots murder. The religious leaders know the Old Testament prophecy about the Messiah but won’t even walk six miles to Bethlehem. Same King. Three responses. Three very different trajectories. What you do with Jesus next writes the rest of your story. This is Week 2 of “Behold the King,” the first phase of a 14-week journey through the Gospels from Christmas to Easter exploring who Jesus is—King, Christ, and Lamb. Victory Doesn’t Cancel the Fight — It Guarantees the Finish

Victory doesn’t mean the battle isn’t real—it means the outcome is settled. In this final message of our Battle Cry series, we sing “Victory in Jesus” as a war-song of faith and walk through 1 Corinthians 15:50–58 (NLT) to see why the resurrection changes everything.Paul declares that death is swallowed up in victory, the sting of death is broken through Christ, and because Jesus has already won, we don’t fight for victory—we fight from victory. If you’re facing fear, grief, temptation, or spiritual warfare, this message will anchor you in gospel confidence and call you to stand firm and live with eternal purpose.🔔 Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications so you don’t miss a message!

When Life Is Not Well, It Is Well With My Soul

When everything is falling apart, can you still say, “It is well with my soul”?In this message from Habakkuk 3:17–19, Pastor Greg Rains walks through the story behind the hymn It Is Well and shows how worship becomes a battle cry when life is not well at all. Learn how to be brutally honest about your pain, choose to rejoice in who God is (not how life feels), and walk like someone held up by God, not by your circumstances. This is Week 2 of our Battle Cry series on worship as war, featuring classic hymns like How Great Thou Art, It Is Well, and Victory in Jesus. If this sermon encourages you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and tell us in the comments how God is teaching you to say, “It is well with my soul.”📍Learn more about our church: at www.mynorthview.church

The End of the Matter: Solomon's Final Conclusion | Ecclesiastes 12:9-14

After a lifetime of chasing pleasure, wealth, power, and meaning, King Solomon arrived at one final conclusion that changes everything. In this powerful finale to our 8-week Smoke and Mirrors series, we dive into Ecclesiastes 12:9-14—Solomon's last words and his ultimate verdict on what actually matters in life.In this episode, you'll discover:Why God's Word is the only reliable source of wisdom in a world drowning in opinionsHow Scripture both corrects and anchors us (think cattle prods and tent stakes)The danger of endless information without transformationWhat it really means to fear God, follow Jesus, and finish faithfulBottom Line: True wisdom begins and ends with God. Fear Him. Follow Him. Finish faithful.Whether you're feeling the emptiness of chasing success "under the sun," searching for purpose, or wondering what actually lasts when everything else fades—this message will challenge you to build your life on the only foundation that doesn't crumble. This is straight-up, no-fluff biblical teaching with a masculine, direct edge. If you've been wondering what the point of it all is, Solomon's got your answer.Scripture: Ecclesiastes 12:9-14

  20. 151

Don’t Waste Your Prime: Give God Your Best While You’ve Still Got Breath (Ecclesiastes 12:1-8)

Your prime years represent the peak of your physical strength, mental sharpness, and energy - but time eventually humbles everyone. Most people give the world their best years and offer God whatever's left over, but God deserves your first and best, not your leftovers. Solomon warns in Ecclesiastes 12:1 to honor your Creator in your youth before growing old and losing your vitality. The greatest waste of strength is spending it entirely on yourself rather than investing in God's kingdom. Jesus modeled this perfectly at 33, choosing the cross over earthly comfort and building an eternal legacy that continues today.

  21. 150

Faith Risks. Fear Hoards. - The Power of Generosity.

Solomon challenges us in Ecclesiastes 11 to stop playing it safe and start living boldly for God's kingdom. Like sending grain across dangerous seas, faith requires us to invest everything God has given us - our time, talents, and treasure - rather than hoarding them safely. We can't reap what we never sow, and waiting for perfect conditions means we'll never act. True joy comes from generous living, faithful work, and trusting God with our investments, knowing that kingdom returns may not be financial but eternal.

  22. 149

Wisdom - The Rest of the Story

Life promises satisfaction—success, money, pleasure, status—but in the end, it’s all SMOKE AND MIRRORS. The book of Ecclesiastes cuts through the illusions and asks the hard question: What really matters? In this series, we will walk through Ecclesiastes to expose the emptiness of life “under the sun” and point us to the only source of meaning that lasts—fearing God and living open-handed.👉 Don’t waste your life chasing smoke. Discover the substance only God can give.

  23. 148

Money Promises Enough — But It’s Lying to You

King Solomon, one of history's wealthiest men, discovered that money makes promises it cannot keep. In Ecclesiastes 5, he reveals that wealth fails to satisfy our deepest longings, often damages relationships, and creates anxiety rather than security. The key insight is understanding the ownership test: everything we have belongs to God, and we are simply stewards managing His gifts. True contentment comes not from accumulating more, but from recognizing that what we already have is a gift from God. Solomon teaches that godly wealth management involves holding everything with open hands, practicing contentment, and choosing generosity that requires faith.

  24. 147

IF IT'S NOT GOOD, GOD'S NOT DONE

Finding peace means recognizing that God, not us, controls the timing of life's seasons. Solomon teaches in Ecclesiastes 3 that there's an appointed time for everything - from birth to death, joy to sorrow - determined by God alone. When facing difficult seasons, instead of asking why God allowed them, we should ask what He wants us to learn. God promises to make everything beautiful in its time and has planted eternity in our hearts. By surrendering to Jesus, accepting our current season, trusting His timing, living with an eternal perspective, and resting in His purpose, we can find peace even in challenging times.

  25. 146

    THE GRIND WON'T FILL YOU

Solomon, the wisest and wealthiest king, discovered that pursuing pleasure, projects, possessions, power, and profession apart from God leads only to emptiness. Like Tom Brady who always wanted 'the next' Super Bowl ring despite his achievements, we often chase worldly success thinking it will fulfill us. Yet Solomon's verdict in Ecclesiastes 2 is clear: everything under the sun is 'hevel' - vapor, meaningless. True meaning isn't earned through grinding harder but received as a gift from God. When we center our lives on Jesus rather than worldly pursuits, we find the joy, purpose, and fulfillment we're seeking.

  26. 145

    RUNNING HARD, GETTING NOWHERE

Solomon, one of history's wisest and wealthiest individuals, discovered that life without God is like a hamster wheel - full of motion but lacking meaning. In Ecclesiastes, he describes earthly pursuits as 'hevel' (smoke or vapor) that cannot be grasped. The cyclical nature of life, our quickly fading legacies, and even the pursuit of knowledge all prove unsatisfying when disconnected from God. True meaning comes not from achievements, status, or possessions, but from fearing God and keeping His commandments. Life under the sun is merely smoke, but life in the Son (Jesus Christ) provides lasting substance and purpose.

  27. 144

HOW TO LEAD YOUR FAMILY LIKE JESUS

Creating a Christ-centered home requires making Jesus Lord of every relationship, not just in theory but in practice. While our natural tendency is self-centeredness, Paul's instructions in Colossians guide families toward mutual submission and Christ-like love. For marriages, this means wives voluntarily supporting their husbands' leadership while husbands love sacrificially as Christ loved the church. Parents are called to provide both validation and vision for their children, discipling them through consistent teaching and modeling authentic faith. The foundation for all family relationships is mutual submission out of reverence for Christ, putting others' needs before our own.

  28. 143

WHY YOU CAN'T FOLLOW JESUS ALONE

Are you trying to pour out what you haven't first taken in? Just like you need to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others on a plane, you need to be filled with Christ before you can truly serve others. How are you 'clothing yourself' with compassion, kindness, and love today? Faith was never meant to be a solo journey - discover how being connected to Christ and community changes everything.

  29. 142

STOP TRYING HARDER. START LIVING NEW.

Sometimes in life, we try to fix our problems on our own, only to realize we need someone who truly knows what they're doing. This is especially true in our spiritual lives. The truth is, we don't just need to fix areas of our lives—we need a completely new life. And that's exactly what Paul teaches in Colossians 3.

  30. 141

    CHASING SHADOWS

Many believers create spiritual scorecards, measuring their relationship with God by religious activities rather than genuine transformation. Like the Colossian church, we often add rules and traditions to create a 'Jesus plus' faith that misses the heart of Christianity. We chase shadows—church attendance, spiritual dietary laws, calendar Christianity, and style preferences—instead of pursuing Jesus himself. True faith isn't about performance or earning God's favor through religious activities. Your walk with Christ is about your identity in Him, not your activity for Him. Stop chasing shadows and cling to the Savior, letting spiritual disciplines flow from love rather than obligation.

  31. 140

WHY YOUR FAITH FEELS STUCK (AND HOW TO GET MOVING AGAIN)

Many Christians feel spiritually stagnant because they're trying to grow without being rooted in Christ. Like the mighty Angel Oak tree that has withstood centuries of storms because of its deep root system, our spiritual lives need to be firmly anchored in Jesus to withstand life's challenges. Paul instructs believers to be rooted in Christ, build their lives on Him, grow strong in faith, and overflow with thankfulness. This growth doesn't happen in isolation but through Scripture, prayer, and community. By evaluating what we're rooted in, assessing our foundation, committing to community, and balancing our spiritual inputs, we can experience genuine spiritual transformation.

  32. 139

    A LIFE WORTH LIVING

Spiritual maturity in Christ isn't built on comfort, but on sacrifice. While becoming a Christian costs nothing, growing in Christ requires sacrificing comfort, time, and resources. We must shift from being Christian consumers who only take to being missionaries who serve others and advance the gospel. Paul viewed his sufferings as participation in Christ's work, recognizing that his sacrifices advanced the kingdom. The ultimate mission isn't just making converts but making disciples—helping others grow into mature followers of Christ. Through sacrificial giving, serving, and stepping out of our comfort zones, we can make an eternal difference that reaches farther than we could imagine.

  33. 138

    WHO IS JESUS - REALLY?

Who is Jesus? This foundational question reveals that Jesus is more than a prophet, guru, or moral teacher - He is the visible image of the invisible God. Colossians 1:15-20 presents Jesus as supreme over all creation, the Creator who holds everything together, and the head of the church. He is fully God in human form, reconciling all things to Himself through His sacrifice. Understanding Jesus' true identity transforms our perspective on life's purpose and challenges us to make Him first in our time, talents, and treasure - not just important, but preeminent in every aspect of our lives.

  34. 137

THE TRUTH YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO FORGET

In a world of competing voices, it's easy to drift from the simple truth of the gospel, just like the Colossian Christians did. They faced threats of diminishing Jesus' deity and legalism, creating a distorted version of Christianity. Today, we face similar challenges as we consume more social media than Scripture. Paul reminds us to remember our identity in Christ, recognize what God has done for us, and focus on where He is taking us. By filtering what we hear through Scripture and spending intentional time with Jesus, we can return to the simple truth that Jesus is all that matters.

  35. 136

TOP SON II - The Rise of Joseph

Life's delays aren't denials but runways preparing us for takeoff, as illustrated by Joseph's journey from pit to palace. Despite being sold into slavery, imprisoned, and forgotten, Joseph remained faithful during seasons of waiting. God used these delays to develop Joseph's character, leadership, and humility before suddenly elevating him to govern Egypt. When we feel stuck or forgotten, God is building strength beneath the surface. Our waiting seasons are purposeful preparation for the unique mission God has designed for us.

  36. 135

TWO THINGS EVERY CHRISTIAN MUST DO TO SURVIVE THE BATTLE

Spiritual warfare is a reality for every believer, with an enemy seeking to destroy and a God offering abundant life. To win these battles, Christians need two essential weapons: the Sword of the Spirit (God's Word) and persistent prayer. Research shows reading the Bible at least four times weekly creates significant positive life changes, while prayer connects us to God's power. These weapons aren't just defensive but allow believers to take the offensive against the enemy's schemes, leading to true abundance—not necessarily material wealth, but a rich life grounded in gospel truth.

  37. 134

    DON'T FORGET WHO YOU ARE

In today's world, we face an unprecedented identity crisis, evidenced by alarming mental health statistics and rising psychological distress, particularly among young people. Satan strategically attacks our identity through four main tactics: circumstances that question God's love, comparison that breeds discontent, competition that creates pressure to prove ourselves, and condemnation that generates shame about our past. The Gospel, however, provides powerful antidotes to these attacks. Through adoption, we become God's beloved children with an unshakeable identity. Justification ensures our right standing with God isn't based on performance. Reconciliation makes us new creations with a fresh start, and forgiveness cancels all past charges against us. Understanding and embracing these truths is essential for maintaining spiritual and emotional well-being in today's challenging world.

  38. 133

    BE GROUNDED AND GUARDED

Christians must recognize they're in a spiritual battle, not on a spiritual vacation. When someone accepts Jesus as Savior, they become a target for spiritual attacks, necessitating proper spiritual armor and preparation. The foundation begins with the shoes of gospel peace, which grounds believers in the truth that reconciliation with God is available through Jesus Christ. This peace becomes both a personal anchor and a message to share with others. The shield of faith serves as crucial protection against various enemy attacks, including lies about identity in Christ, temptations during vulnerable times, and spiritual complacency. Faith development often progresses gradually, like a dimmer switch rather than an instant light switch, requiring multiple exposures to the gospel message. The Holy Spirit works through believers who act as witnesses rather than attorneys trying to win arguments.Effective spiritual warfare requires both individual preparation and community support. Believers are called to link shields with others through active church involvement and accountability relationships. This includes identifying areas needing strengthening, memorizing relevant Scripture, and actively sharing the gospel while maintaining a battleship rather than cruise ship mentality.

    FATHER, FORGIVE THEM

Jesus's first words on the cross, Father, forgive them, carry profound meaning beyond their immediate context. While directly addressing those carrying out His crucifixion at Golgotha, these words extend to all humanity. The statement reveals both the depth of human sin in rejecting and mocking Christ, and the immensity of divine love in responding with forgiveness. This truth challenges us to examine how we might show indifference or rejection to Jesus in our daily lives through half-hearted worship, misplaced priorities, and actions that don't align with our professed faith.

HOW TO LIVE COURAGEOUS IN A WORLD OF FEAR

Fear and Christianity are fundamentally contradictory, yet many believers struggle with fear that hinders their spiritual journey. The Bible addresses fear 366 times, emphasizing its importance in our faith walk. Through understanding that fear represents misplaced faith and by adopting key mindsets - remembering God's calling, recognizing death's defeat, and relying on the Holy Spirit - believers can overcome their fears. This transformation enables bold living and effective ministry, allowing Christians to join the fellowship of the unashamed and live courageously for Christ.
