What the Five Regrets of the Dying Teach Us About Living
When I first launched this podcast, I talked about Bronnie Ware’s Five Regrets of the Dying, and how reflecting on them can help us live more intentionally now, so we don’t get to the end with regret. Lately, those regrets have been top of mind for me again, especially after the recent loss of someone close to me.I believe the five regrets of the dying can serve as gentle check-in points to help us live more fulfilling lives today. Here are some reflection questions inspired by those regrets:1. “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” → Check-in question:What would I do differently if I trusted my own inner voice and intuition more? What does “a life true to me” look like for right now, in this season of my life?2. “I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.” → Check-in question:What am I working so hard for, and is it worth it to me?What do I wish I had more time or energy for?3. “I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.” → Check-in question:What emotions have I been pushing down that want acknowledgment? What would emotional honesty look like in one small interaction today?4. “I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.” → Check-in question:Who do I feel most myself around and when did we last connect? What relationships need tending, even in a small way?5. “I wish I had let myself be happier.” → Check-in question: What brings me joy that I haven’t made space for lately? How could I make that a priority today? I encourage you to take a few moments and really reflect on these questions. They’re not just nice questions — they’re a roadmap for how to live.Ready to start creating a life you love? 10 helpful thoughts before making a big change
Today I’m sharing ten helpful thoughts to think about, explore, or noodle on when you're about to take a big leap or make a meaningful change in your life. Whether you're switching careers, leaving a relationship, moving across the country, or simply choosing to live more authentically, this episode is for you! Here’s what I cover:1. You don't need permission to do what you want to do (though you may want someone's blessing!)2. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for what you’re planning or doing (unless you want to)3. You're not a bad person for wanting to change4. There’s never a perfect time to change and you’re never going to be 100% ready5. It’s okay to experiment6. It’s okay to ask for help or be a little lost along the way7. If there’s a will, there’s a way (time to get scrappy!)8. You can always change your mind9. Past performance does not dictate future success10. Not being 100% happy after change does NOT mean you've made the wrong decisionMentioned on the Show: Redesign Your Life podcast, Changing Your Mind is a Sign of Growth, Not FlakinessReady to start creating a life you love? What are you wishing would be different?
One of the things I talk a lot about on this podcast is the power of starting small and how those tiny steps can spark massive change.Even if your brain insists that the only way to improve your life is to burn everything down and start over… you don’t actually have to listen to that voice. In today’s episode, I walk you through a different, much more doable way to create change. One that doesn’t require a full-blown life overhaul.Questions to Reflect On:What’s one thing you wish was different in your life? What do you think it’ll take to change it?What if that story isn’t actually true? What’s one tiny thing you could do today to get the ball rolling?Ready to start creating a life you love? Minimum Viable Experience
Today, we’re diving into something that comes up a lot when you're redesigning your life: How do you take a big, audacious life goal, like moving somewhere you’ve never been, changing careers, overhauling your lifestyle, or even running a marathon when you've never run before, and ease into it instead of feeling like you're leaping off a cliff? That’s what today’s episode is all about: creating a Minimum Viable Experience. You might’ve heard a similar term before: minimum viable product. It comes from the tech and product design world, and it refers to putting something out there that's the simplest version of a product that still works well enough to test with real users. So lately I’ve been wondering, what if you took that same concept and created a minimal viable version of what you want to do and applied it to your life? What would it be like to start out small and let yourself explore without committing to big changes right away? You might be surprised what you learn! What no one talks about when you’re planning big (or small!) life changes
On today's episode I share some real-time updates on how my husband and I are redesigning our lives for the summer. I'm hoping that my personal example might help you think about a few things for your life. What I've seen both in myself and in my clients is that when there are changes coming up, it’s so easy to bury yourself in logistics - the planning, the checklists, the organizing - all the stuff that helps you feel in control when you're experiencing change. But sometimes that focus on logistics also helps you avoid the emotions you're experiencing behind the scenes! Today's podcast is a pep talk all about getting out of your comfort zone (without turning your whole life upside down). What if your path needs to be a little weird?
Many of us believe life is supposed to be linear. And it feels like we're doing something wrong when it's not. We’re given this idea from a young age that things should unfold in a particular order. And if we deviate from that, we’d better have a really good explanation ready. For some people having a defined path is reassuring, but for others, the idea of linearity can be incredibly limiting. This can lead people to take on roles or stay way too long in situations just because of how it might look if they left or changed things up.So what if you gave yourself permission to imagine your path as a little bit weird? What old stories about yourself would you have to drop? What would be different about today?I want to encourage you to explore that thing, whatever it is, to just plant the seeds of a different path. Your future self will thank you. Mentioned in the Episode- Redesign Your Life, Quitting Without a PlanReady to start creating a life you love? Low Power Mode (For Humans!)
Today I’m sharing a helpful analogy for anyone who struggles to rest. If you’re the kind of person who keeps going until you’re wiped out, or believes you can’t take a break until the to-do list is done…this episode is for you.I’m introducing the idea of Low Power Mode—not just for your phone, but for you. Because sometimes, you're not at full capacity and that's okay. And instead of pushing through or fantasizing about quitting everything and moving to the beach, there’s a middle ground. In this episode, I talk about… Why so many of us struggle to restHow overworking shows up as a coping mechanism for uncertaintySigns it might be time to shift into Low Power Mode10 practical ideas for how to scale back when you’re running lowTwo questions to help you figure out what’s essential when your energy is drainedKeep this analogy in mind to use the next time you're not feeling 100%. This isn’t about giving up or failing. it’s about recognizing your capacity and honoring it. Even our phones know when they need to chill, so why shouldn’t we?Ready to start creating a life you love? What If You Measured Your Time by How You Felt—Not What You Got Done? (Try an Emotional Audit)
What if productivity wasn't really a great measure of how you're actually feeling? In today's episode I reflect on a recent workshop I attended where we looked at the quarter based on how we felt, not what we got done. I talk about:Why task-based reviews leave out the most important information: how you feltHow to conduct your own emotional auditWhy daily emotional check-ins matterP.S. If the idea of doing an emotional audit in a cozy group setting sounds like your thing, let me know! I’ve been toying with the idea of hosting a free or low-cost Saturday morning workshop where we get together, reflect, and set intentions—not just for what we want to do, but for how we want to feel. Redesigning Your Life After Loss
Today we’re talking about being in the in-between spaces—those liminal moments when you’re navigating a big life transition. This topic is deeply personal for me right now, and I wanted to share a story that’s still unfolding in real time.Last week, we had to say goodbye to our sweet dog Arya. She had a heart condition, and while we knew our time with her was limited, it still hit us hard. And with her passing came something entirely unexpected: a lot of time freedom. That strange combination—grief and freedom—has me reflecting on what it really means to move forward from this place. In this episode, I’m not offering a step-by-step process for moving on. Instead, I talk about allowing yourself to pause before redesigning your life after loss—whether that’s the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a role, or a season of life.If you're in the in-between right now too, I hope this episode helps you feel a little less alone. ❤️Ready to Start Creating a Life You Love? Why Visualizing Your Future is Hard and What to Do About It
Ever feel stuck when trying to imagine your future? You’re not alone. Conventional wisdom says that to redesign your life, you need to visualize it first. But what if future thinking feels impossible—or just really uncomfortable? Here’s the thing: our brains are naturally wired to project ahead, whether we’re imagining exciting possibilities or catastrophizing about everything that could go wrong. But if you find yourself blocked—especially when it comes to picturing a positive future—there’s a reason for that. And today, we’re diving into why this happens and what you can do about it.Three Common Blocks to Future ThinkingYou over-rely on the past to predict the future – Past experiences influence new experiences instead of considering different possibilities. You may not have developed the skill of future thinking – If your path has always been clear-cut, future thinking may be a brand new skill for you. You're WAY too busy to think about your future – When you’re just trying to keep up with daily life, long-term visioning isn't always a top priorityWhat You Can Do About ItAcknowledge where you are Bring curiosity instead of judgment Practice with small promptsRemember, you don’t have to figure this out aloneMentioned in this EpisodeRedesign Your Life, Episode 9: Are You Moving Toward Your Dreams or Escaping Your Problems? Introducing Redesign Your Life — One Imperfect Step at a Time
The podcast has a new name and focus! For the first 40-ish episodes, this show was called the Courageously Unconventional podcast, where we explored living life on your own terms and staying true to yourself. I loved that theme, but over time, my focus started shifting. I found myself talking more and more about what it looks like to create a life you love and then taking action to make that happen.I played with a lot of different ideas, but when I landed on the name Redesign Your Life, it just felt right. Instantly, I had so many ideas about how to help you create a life that’s fulfilling, meaningful, and full of purpose—and more importantly, how to get there. As I played with the idea, I also felt compelled to add a tagline: Redesign Your Life – One Imperfect Step at a Time. Why? Because simply calling it Redesign Your Life sounded too prescriptive—like I was handing out a master plan for a perfect life. That’s not what I believe in, it's not what I’m here to do. I want to help you figure that out for yourself. I'd like to think of this podcast as a resource to help you live life as an experiment that evolves over time.Ready to take more risks but need support? As a life coach, I help people like you uncover what’s holding them back and start creating a life and work they truly love. Feeling Aligned with Your Work
Have you ever had a job that should feel amazing, but something still feels off? Maybe it checks all the right boxes, yet deep down, you’re unfulfilled. In this episode, we’re exploring why some jobs look great on paper but don’t align with who we are.I’ll share a client’s story about transitioning to a job that seemed perfect but left her feeling disconnected and how she uncovered what was missing. I also talk about why gratitude can’t override misalignment, the fears that keep us from speaking up, and how you can start identifying the kind of work that truly lights you up.If something feels off for you right now, I encourage you to take a step back and ask: What parts of me feel most alive when I express them?Am I actually expressing them in my work? And if not, what would it look like to start? Maybe You Never Learned to Dream
Today’s episode is all about dreaming big, and why it can be so challenging for some people to imagine a different way of living or working. For many of the women I coach, dreaming outside the framework they’ve followed for years can feel foreign. If you’ve spent most of your life checking boxes and following a well-laid-out path, the question, “What do I really want?” might not come naturally. But this doesn't mean that you lack creativity and are unable to dream. Questions to help you practice dreaming biggerWho inspires me, and what about their life or choices resonates with me?What would it look like to live a life that’s 1% bigger? What is one thing I’ve always been curious about but never pursued? If I could spend a day doing anything I wanted, no matter how impractical, what would it be?What’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit or live, and what about it excites me?What is one small, joyful thing I could do this week that would feel adventurous or new? When was the last time I felt truly alive and excited? What was I doing? What’s something I’ve told myself I can’t do but secretly want to try? What values do I want to align my life with more closely? What’s something I’d regret not trying if I reached the end of my life?Ready to dream bigger, but want some help? Close the Loops: Simple Actions to Ease Overwhelm
In this episode, I share a simple yet powerful suggestion I recently gave to one of my clients who was feeling stressed: close the loops you can. When life feels overwhelming, it’s not always about finding a huge, life-changing solution. Instead, it’s about identifying those small, lingering tasks that are within your control, and taking action on them. We’ll explore:How “open loops” can amplify stress. How closing even one or two loops can free up mental space.Practical examples of what this could look like in your life, from deciding on a gift to delaying a decision until you have more capacity.Big stress doesn’t always need a big solution—sometimes, it’s the small things that create the most relief.Take a few minutes today to identify and close 3-5 loops in your life and close them. It’s a simple step you can take to create more breathing room in your mind and ease the overwhelm.Connect with Lynn Grogan: If you’re curious about coaching and want to experience it for yourself, sign up for a free 1:1 private coaching session with me at https://lynngrogan.com/work-with-me/Let's Connect! What If This Was an Invitation, Not a Threat?
Today, I want to share a mindset shift that has been incredibly impactful for both me and my coaching clients: What if this was an invitation and not a threat?Inspired by insights from Martha Beck's The Way of Integrity, I’ll share how this mindset shift can help you open up in areas where you may be shutting down. When we can reframe threats as invitations, we create space to question if those things are really threats in the first place. And from that point of view, we can grow and align more fully with our values. A Question to Help You Through the Holidays
I hope you're all doing well! I'm doing a short episode this week because I'm officially on vacation. Wherever you are and whether or not you're in the midst of holidays, I want to leave you with a question this week that you can absolutely journal on. I actually find this question helpful to ask in the moment, especially when I'm feeling a little stressed or overwhelmed or irritated.Besides my thoughts, is everything okay? I think I got this question from the author James Clear, and I absolutely love it. More often than not, we're doing okay, and it's our perspective on what's happening that is creating our overall experience. And when we know that it's our thoughts or perspective creating our experience, we give ourselves a chance to make adjustments. And if you ask yourself that question and you find that the answer is NO, everything is NOT okay, you give yourself a chance to tend to your needs or ask for help. Thank you for listening and I'm sending you love where you are! Connect with Lynn Grogan: If you’re considering a major career or lifestyle change and want to talk to someone, I’m here for you! Lessons Learned from Being Alone
When my husband goes out of town, I have a little tradition: I pick a show we wouldn’t normally watch together and plow through an entire season. This time, I chose the show Alone. I ended up loving it so much that I knew I had to bring it into today’s podcast episode. If you’re not familiar, Alone is a wilderness survival show where contestants are dropped into extreme conditions to see how long they can last. As I watched, my coach brain kicked in (as it always does!), and I started thinking: How does this apply to real life?Thankfully, most of us won’t ever face a wilderness survival scenario. But the challenges contestants face on Alone reveal some powerful lessons about resilience, adaptability, and mindset that we can learn from. In today’s episode, I’m sharing five key takeaways from Alone and showing you how to apply them to your own life:Energy Is Finite—Spend It Wisely: Focus your energy on what truly matters to you, and don’t waste it on things that drain you unnecessarily.Success Requires Both a Plan and Adaptability: Plan for the results you want, but be ready to pivot when life throws you a curveball. You Are So Much More Capable Than You Realize: Challenge yourself to push past your perceived limits—you might just surprise yourself.Mindset Matters: Your attitude can make all the difference. Practicing positivity can help you overcome even the toughest challenges.Keep the Big Picture in Mind and Allow Yourself to Change Your Mind: Life isn’t static. When your priorities shift, it’s okay to give yourself permission to change your mind. Changing Your Mind is a Sign of Growth, Not Flakiness
Being able to make decisions and giving yourself permission to change your mind is essential if you want to transform your life. Without making intentional choices, you’ll often find yourself stuck in a cycle, experiencing the same things over and over again. If you’re happy with your life as it is, that’s amazing! But if something feels off, staying on autopilot can lead to years of feeling unfulfilled. True momentum comes when you take responsibility for your choices and decide to act.If you’re grappling with a decision that feels impossible to reverse, remember: most decisions aren’t permanent. Allow yourself the freedom to change your mind and create a life that aligns with your future dreams — not one shaped solely by past decisions.Connect with Lynn Grogan: If you’re curious about coaching and want to experience it for yourself, sign up for a free 1:1 private coaching session with me at https://lynngrogan.com/work-with-me/Let's Connect! If You're in a Funk, This Can Help
For today's podcast, I want to share something I wrote a few years ago. It’s a bit different from my usual episodes, but it feels fitting right now.As the seasons shift from fall to winter, many of us may start to feel a little off, or even stuck, in a seasonal funk. In this episode, I explore how you can approach these feelings with curiosity and self-compassion, reminding you that sometimes, emotions are simply sensations in our bodies—not a sign that something has gone terribly wrong.Connect with Lynn Grogan: If you’re curious about coaching and want to experience it for yourself, sign up for a free 1:1 private coaching session with me at https://lynngrogan.com/work-with-me/Let's Connect! Reframing Purpose and Finding Meaning in Your Day-to-Day Life
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about having a purpose. Like what’s the point of it all? I think this is a pretty common question to ask yourself—especially when you’ve reached a point in life where you’ve checked off many of those big, cultural milestones that are supposed to define “success.” Maybe you’ve built a career, started a family, or bought a home, and now you’ve settled into your routines. You pretty much know how most days will go from here on out. So it seems like you should feel fulfilled at this point, but certain questions might start coming up for you: Is this it? Should I be doing something more with my life? It can feel pretty unsettling to be in that place, and may leave you wondering if what you’ve created is enough. But what if it's not about doing more—but about seeing your life differently? What if your purpose isn’t something out there to find, but something you can uncover in the life you’re already living? That’s what I’ve been thinking about lately, and in today's episode, I explore how you might reframe the idea of purpose without changing a single thing about your external circumstances.Mentioned in the Episode: Job Crafting, https://hbr.org/2020/03/what-job-crafting-looks-likeConnect with Lynn Grogan: If you’re curious about coaching and want to experience it for yourself, sign up for a free 1:1 private coaching session with me at https://lynngrogan.com/work-with-me/Let's Connect! The Emotional Cycle of Change
In today’s episode, I’m talking about a framework called the Emotional Cycle of Change developed by psychologists Don Kelley and Daryl Connor. It explains the emotional journey we undergo when we voluntarily decide to change our lives. If you’re anything like me, you’ve likely experienced a roller coaster of emotions when tackling a challenging goal or trying to shift a habit. However, Kelley and Conner assure us that this experience isn’t as chaotic as it may seem. The emotions we encounter are actually quite predictable and normal. By understanding the cycles of change in advance, you can map out and anticipate what's happening ahead of time and help yourself along the way. For instance, when you find yourself in Stage Three, the Valley of Despair, you’ll recognize it as a sign to keep pushing forward rather than quitting on yourself. So, as you listen, I encourage you to reflect on your own experiences with change. What stage are you in? What's coming next? How can you help yourself keep going, even if that critical voice in your head is telling you to give up? Because I promise, if you keep going and don’t quit on yourself, what’s waiting on the other side is absolutely worth it. The Power of Immediate Action
Today, we’re diving into a topic that I’ve been working on with my clients lately: the power of immediate action. A lot of times, we have these big ideas or plans for self-improvement. We think, "Oh, yeah, I’ll do that... later." We picture our future selves being more relaxed, more organized, more productive, but it’s always later, right? It’s always after we find more time or the perfect opportunity. And what I’ve noticed is that later often never comes.Today, I'm going to help you turn that around. Instead of waiting for a future version of yourself to take action, what if you did it now? What if, right after you finish listening to this podcast, you start doing that thing you’ve been thinking about immediately, on the smallest scale possible?Taking action, especially small steps, helps break the cycle of procrastination, reduces overwhelm, and creates momentum. Start today and prove to your brain that you are capable of change.Mentioned in the Episode: James Clear, Atomic HabitsConnect with Lynn Grogan: If you’re curious about coaching and want to experience it for yourself, sign up for a free 1:1 private coaching session with me at https://lynngrogan.com/work-with-me/Let's Connect! Deepening Your Friendships
Last week, I did a podcast episode called Putting Yourself Out There to Make New Friends. I got a follow-up question from one of my listeners, asking how to prioritize deepening the connections once you've made them. I think this is such a great question because, for most of us, having deep and meaningful relationships is one of the most important things in life. In Bronnie Ware's list of the Top 5 Regrets of the Dying, one of the regrets is: "I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends."I decided to reach out to my community of coaches for advice. Here's what they had to offer: Not every friendship needs to go deeper. Some friendships are great just as they are. Maybe you have activity buddies—friends you love hiking with, going to see concerts with, or grabbing a drink with, but you keep things light and fun. And that’s totally okay.If you want to get to know someone better, tell them. It’s similar to dating—you may need to make the first move in order to have a deeper relationship.Consistent facetime is key. To build a deeper friendship, you need regular, consistent contact. It doesn’t have to be daily or even weekly—setting up a monthly or quarterly meet-up can work too.Start with positivity. Friendship expert Shasta Nelson suggests that a strong friendship needs a 5:1 ratio of positivity to negativity. For every 20 minutes of venting, offloading, or personal self-disclosure, you want to balance it with 80 minutes of fun and light-hearted moments. Build vulnerability over time. True friendship deepens with vulnerability. Share your personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences as trust grows.A special thank you to the wonderful coaches in my community who contributed to this episode: Denita Bremer, Sarah Yost, Zayne Khan, Diana Murphy, Kenneth Li, and Mande Pratt John. Putting Yourself Out There to Make New Friends
A few months ago, I did a podcast episode with Dr. Em Wong called How to Live Vibrantly to 100. In that episode, we talked about the importance of social ties and friendships as we age. Building and maintaining connections is one of the key factors for healthy aging. But let’s be honest, making friends and staying connected can be a challenge for many people, myself included. My husband and I had a hard time making friends during our first years on the road, which put a lot of pressure on our relationship, as we were each other's only source of companionship. In the past two years, we've made a concerted effort to meet new people and now have a wonderful circle of friends. In today's episode, I share 5 things that have helped us along the way, including:Attending events designed for making friendsBeing vulnerable about what you're looking for Asking for contact information Scheduling regular follow-up conversations Organizing friend events yourselfIf you're anything like me, many of these activities might be outside your comfort zone, but the payoff is worth it! Feeling Overwhelmed by Change? Here are 5 Tips for Navigating It
Change is an inevitable part of life, but navigating it can be challenging. In this episode, I share five tips to help you manage and embrace change.Acknowledge that a lot IS going on in your life. When you're making big changes—like moving or switching jobs—things are far from routine. It's natural for our brains and bodies to sound the alarm when faced with uncertainty since they’re wired to keep us safe, and major lifestyle shifts don’t fit neatly into that safe zone.Separate the facts from your thoughts. By distinguishing between neutral facts and your thoughts or perspective of those facts, you can gain awareness and empower yourself to take on a different perspective. Emotions don’t mean you’re making the right or wrong decision. It’s normal to feel a range of emotions when making big changes. Feeling doubt or fear doesn't mean that you’re on the wrong path.Compile a list of questions your brain is already thinking. Write down everything your mind is offering you—big or small—and sort through what’s in your control to solve and what’s not.Borrow confidence from past experiences. Reflect on times when you’ve handled uncertainty and change before, and draw strength from others who have been through similar situations.Connect with Lynn Grogan: If you’re considering a major career or lifestyle change and want to talk to someone, I’m here for you! On a Quick Break!
I just wanted to pop in here and say that I'm on a break this week for the podcast. I'll be back next week featuring my friend David Delaney, where we talk all about how to create a life that's NOT centered around work. So you're not going to want to miss that one! In the mean time, I'm off to Wisconsin to be with my family, but I'll be thinking of all of you along the way. And because I love a good journaling question, I want to leave you with this one: What is ONE thing you can do this week (or that you already did this week) to make your life at least 1% better? I'm in a Facebook group where they ask this question every week, and I'm always inspired by what everyone comes up with. My 1% better is leaving my laptop at home while I take my trip, so I can fully focus on being with my family. I'll admit already feel a little anxious when I think about it, but that just shows me a little bit about how much I'm on my computer! You Can Just Decide to Change Your Life
Did you know you can just decide that you're going to change your life? Like right now? You don't need anyone's permission, you don't need an elaborate plan or fancy program, you don't need the perfect time. If there's something in your life that you want to be different, you can just decide right now that you want to do something about it.The key is to make the change tiny and achievable. Pick something, anything that takes you in the direction you want to go. Ideally pick something you can try out right away and get a quick win from. And because it's something different and out of routine for you, your brain will take notice. Small changes add up to a big impact. And why does this work? The Power of Small Wins: Small successes can build momentum. Celebrating minor achievements can boost motivation and confidence, making it easier to tackle larger goals.Reduced Resistance: Smaller changes are less intimidating and can reduce resistance to change. This makes it easier to start and maintain new behaviors.Sustainability: Tiny interventions are more sustainable because they are less likely to cause burnout or overwhelm. This increases the likelihood of long-term adherence to new habits.Mentioned in the Episode: Tiny Habits: The Small Changes that Change Everything by BJ Fogg Let's Connect! Are You Moving Toward Your Dreams or Escaping Your Problems?
Consider the last few decisions you've made in your life. Were you going toward a future you were excited to live or was it more about escaping something you didn't want? It's natural to seek relief from negative experiences or situations, but this can lead to reactive choices. Part of living a fulfilling life means creating a vision for what you want and actively moving towards it. It's about courageously pursuing your dreams and embracing the uncertainty that comes with stepping into the unknown. Key Takeaways: Reflect on Motivations: Ask yourself, "Am I going toward what I want, or trying to escape something I don't want?" Honest reflection can lead to powerful clarity.Set Future-oriented Goals: Imagine and invest in what you are going toward, rather than simply getting away from something. Visualize your desired future. Embrace Uncertainty: Understand that the path to fulfillment may not always be clear. Trust that you'll figure it out and allow yourself to experience all the feelings along the way.Mentioned in the Episode: Dan Sullivan of Strategic CoachCourageously Unconventional podcast, Crafting a New Career: Kricia Palmer on Leaving Medicine and Starting Over as an Interior Designer Let's Connect! You Don't Have to Burnout to Change Your Life: Priyanka Venugopal's Path from ObGyn to Entrepreneur
This week on the Courageously Unconventional podcast, I'm joined by Priyanka Venugopal. I met Priyanka several years ago when I was working as a coach for physicians who wanted to lose weight. It was such a joy to coach her, and it has been SO fun and inspiring for me to watch her go from practicing as a physician to becoming an entrepreneur over the years. In this episode, you'll hear more about her story of leaving medicine to create the Unstoppable Mom Brain coaching business, where she helps high achieving professional moms lose weight without a calculator, and create more sustainable ease at work and home. What really stands out about Priyanka's story is that she wasn't burned out when she left medicine. She actually used coaching to love her work MORE, but she decided to go toward what was lighting her up even more than that: having her own coaching practice. The real highlight of her story is that you don't have to hate things to change your life. And this goes for any area of your life, not just your career. It's okay to change things just because you want to change them. However, it doesn't mean that change doesn't come with doubt, uncertainty, sadness, and grief. Any transition includes things that you must work through on your way forward. We also talk about: - How she worked through her all or nothing thinking to embrace change and uncertainty that comes with living and working unconventionally - Using your intuition to guide your decisions- How to reverse engineer your decision making by flash forwarding to the futureEnjoy this conversation with Priyanka Venugopal!
