You do not get stuck when you are in motion.  We talk about staying present and remembering that we have choices and there are always moves to make.  Nio’s mother says, “If you want to stay alive, keep moving”. Consistency, Our Patterns and Trust | Joy & Gratitude Podcast Ep. 56

Beth and Nio share very emotional and personal stories of the impacts of consistent and inconsistent behavior.  Consistency is a key pillar of trust, and it can both build and erode trust.  But it is not that simple. We each have our own personal values and patterns of behavior that impact how we show up.  Understanding our patterns and choosing to change is an important part of personal growth.  This topic took some fun turns as we realized we are both very activated by inconsistency.  Live learning at its best! Caregiving can sometimes feel like balancing on a tight rope.  Are you helping and supporting in a way that is truly received as helpful?  Are you projecting what is supportive when maybe it is not?  Can we pause and ensure that we are caregiving ourselves as a foundation for authentic and heart led care/kindness?  If we own what is ours and ask questions first, perhaps we can create a more mutually beneficial experience where both sides feel cared for.  In this episode, you will hear Beth learn in the moment of the impact of pausing as a tool for better caregiving.  Join us! With Special Guest John Holcombe (JH Leadership and Strategy, Inc) We have so much fun in this episode as we define innovation and discuss the learner’s mindset and the positive impacts of diversity of thought (the “we” dynamic).  It is so easy to think in a linear way and to stay in the same routine, but innovation happens when we get uncomfortable and start to iterate.  John shares how we can develop different use cases and then use feedback to create solutions that move individuals, teams and organizations forward.  With AI infiltrating our personal and professional lives, this was a very timely reminder of how to position yourself to leverage innovation.   Joy Notes Songs:   Saved My Life by Andy Grammer Songs by Tai Verdes (like AOK) Hustling by Rick Ross Gratitude Rocks!: Breathe Subscribe for more conversations on joy, growth, mindfulness, and gratitude. Adaptability Creates Flow

Adaptability is a powerful tool we can use to stay in flow.  We know change is a constant, so how can we practice being adaptable and knowing that we can indeed choose how we react to each and every circumstance, even if it is not what we planned or hoped for.  Beth and Nio talk about using grace and space to make shifts and move forward when we are confronted with being stuck or find ourselves in an unwanted change/transition.  Throw your pity party and then remember that you know how to adapt, you know how to make a new choice, and you can always adapt again. Being in the practice of adapting makes it easier to live in flow.  Give it a go! Finding and Creating Joy | Joy & Gratitude Ep. 48

If we all need more joy in our lives, how do we find it? Beth and Nio explore the difference between finding joy and creating joy.  How can we be more open to joy and tune into the moments where we experience joy.  Joy is a decision and a choice, and it gives you power. We each have joyful memories that can be recalled when we need to be resourced and rejuvenated.  Music is one universal way to call joy into your life with purpose. What brings you joy?  We invite you to plan joy into each and every day. Joy can resource us. Joy can rejuvenate us. Joy can shift our entire perspective. The question is: are we making space for it? This episode invites you to reflect on the people, places, memories, and moments that bring genuine joy into your life — and how planning for joy may be one of the healthiest things we can do for ourselves. ✨ What brings YOU joy? The Habit of Overwhelm

Have you ever thought about the state of overwhelm as a habit?  Nio and Beth dig into this topic and get excited about the idea of shifting this “habit” of overwhelm into movement and action.  Can we get focused, be disciplined and allow ourselves to prioritize our energy and our essence?  If we give 1000% to one thing and remove the noise, how could that feel?  What if that laser focus makes us feel accomplished, successful, and motivated.  Let’s experiment with allowing ourselves to lean into one thing, face our fears and take action.  Break it down, be patient with yourself and choose to take one step forward. Together they unpack: Why overwhelm can feel familiar and even addictive How mental noise steals our energy and focus The power of discipline, prioritization, and intentional action What happens when we give our full attention to one thing How small steps can create momentum, confidence, and peace This conversation is an invitation to slow down, simplify, and move forward with purpose. How Are You Doing? (Why We Rarely Answer Honestly)

This simple question “How are you doing?” can provide us with a much-needed personal check in.  Are we honest with our answer?  Is our answer surface level or do we provide a deeper answer that builds connection?  Are there people and places that impact how we answer?  Why do we ask about “doing” instead of “being”?  We are conditioned to be performative instead of just being present in ourselves.  Beth and Nio dive into all of these reflections and remind us that fundamentally we have choice in how we answer and in how we tune into what is really going on within us.  Let’s use this question as a way to check in with ourselves personally each and every day.  Then, perhaps when we ask it of others or are asked by others we can answer with intention and vulnerability. 🎵 Joy Notes Song “Fast Car” — Fast Car by Tracy Chapman 🙏 Gratitude Rocks! Clarity Can Transform Us

Beth and Nio talk about pausing and creating spaces to gain clarity.  What are the ways that you pause and commit to listen to yourself in order to clarify how you are feeling or what you are thinking.  Rather than racing through and creating our own stories, let’s find ways to slow down, reflect, be empathetic, and focus on clarity so that we can then take choiceful and potentially different actions.   Joy Notes Songs:   I Can See Clearly Now by Johnny Nash Gratitude Rocks!: Explore Hosts: Nio Queiro & Beth Mercurio Follow us: https://www.instagram.com/joyandgratitudepod/ If you'd like to ask any questions or offer up any topics to discuss email us at [email protected]
