    Ep56 - The Comparison Game

    Comparison is the thief of joy. In this world of celebrities, social media, and “success”, it’s very easy for us to get caught up in the comparison game. A game where we measure our own success, wealth, and happiness, based on how our lives appear compared to those around us. As human beings I think it’s in our nature to compare ourselves. I also don’t think this is inherently bad. Comparison is one of the ways we learn from each other. I might compare my results to yours, find that you’re doing better than me in some area, ask you how you do it, apply this new found knowledge, and make my life better too! And that’s great! That’s exactly how we should aim to play the comparison game.  The problem occurs when these comparisons only serve to make us feel unworthy, unsuccessful, and unfulfilled.     Ep55 - Talking about the hard stuff

    It ain’t weak to speak. The campaign slogan designed to encourage us to talk when we’re struggling internally. It’s an important point for everyone to take into consideration,  But I think this one is more specifically aimed at us men, As we’re much less likely to open up during hard times, And far more likely to see this as a weakness.     Ep54 - The Cost of Inaction

    How much does it cost? A question I get asked all the time about the UBM training program and our events. And it’s a fair question.  However something we often respond with is what is it going to cost you if you don’t do this? If you don’t get fit and healthy? If you don’t build your self-confidence? If you don’t get clear on where you’re headed in life? It’s something we often don’t consider, and I think our lack of consideration for this is the reason why many men stay stuck in life.     Ep53 - Climbing Mt Barney

    Facing our fears. Recently myself and a select group of the UBM boys took on Mt Barney. The tallest mountain in South East Queensland. And naturally we decided to take the challenging route… It’s called Logan’s Ridge and it involves climbing and scrambling for 3-4km to an elevation of 1350m. Plus a total of 10hrs, and an 18km round trip. It’s not for the fearful, but fear is exactly the feeling we’re learning to manage by doing this challenge. So check out Ep53 if you want to be brave.     Ep52 - We're half way through 2024

    We’re almost half way through 2024… You might be thinking to yourself; “Where’s the time gone?” And it’s for that very reason that I always talk about how precious our time is, and how easily we can allow it to go to waste. What have you accomplished in the last 6 months of your life? What positive changes have you made? If the answer is not many, or none at all, then you’re making a big mistake. You’ll be the same guy at the end of this year that you’ve been for the last few years or more. The same guy, doing the same shit, with nothing meaningful to work towards or look forward to.  To me, that’s not living.  So Ep52 is your mid year kick up the ass to start living your life to your fullest potential.     The Unbreakable Man Retreat is the pinnacle of what we do for men at UBM. It’s a 2.5 day experience designed to help men create clarity, about what they want in life and what they need to do And develop confidence in their ability to follow through and actually create those outcomes.     Ep46 - A Man of Your Word

    As men, our word should be iron clad. Why? Because our ability to create successful relationships is built on trust.  And even more importantly, our sense of confidence, is built on the same trust… Trust in our ability to show up in the way we say we will. Because when we fail to make good on our word, we’re not just lying to that other person (Therefore compromising the trust between us and them) We’re also lying to ourselves, and reducing the confidence we have in ourselves that we will show up as the man we want to be. Then we begin to doubt ourselves, and men who lack confidence ultimately draw the short straw in life. So your word should be iron clad.  It’s in your best interest.     Ep44 - 8 Loser Mindsets

    We are responsible for every outcome in our life. Or at least that’s what I believe.  I also believe that the outcomes we get reflect the actions we choose to take/not take, And that our actions are a reflection of the way we think.  Therefore to change the outcomes we see in our lives we must change the way we think. Ep44 contains a list of 8 loser mindsets. Mindsets that only serve to take us further away from the success we want in our lives.  If you identify any of these mindsets in yourself whilst listening, don’t be upset, we all have them to some degree, but commit to removing this thought process from your life.     Ep43 - Don't underestimate this...

    Most humans suck at predicting the future. Yet if we want to be great at anything we know it takes a long bloody time. And we’ve gotta remain consistent for that long bloody time! Believe me, when you see a man who is absolutely crushing it in life, what you’re looking at is the final stage of that man reaching that level.  We often don’t realise the blood, sweat, tears, and patience that went into the result that we can all now see.     How do you make or break a habit? To me, our habits are basically our lives. These are the little things we do every day,  The sum total of which make up the experience of our life. Most of us have not consciously decided on what habits we wanted in our lives. Many of our habits were given to us by friends, family, or society. And many of them are ruining our lives. These little actions repeated daily are the reason: We struggle to stay healthy Why our relationships either don’t work or aren’t as good as they could be And why we can feel stuck in the same place But just as our bad habits can keep us down, it’s good habits that can change everything.     Ep40 - The Feather, the Brick, and the Bus

    The Feather, the Brick, and the Bus. I think life is constantly giving us feedback on how we’re doing. If we really pay attention we’re usually able to recognise whether things are heading in the right direction or not… The problem I see, is that we usually aren’t paying attention. We all have so much going on that we fail to recognise the little clues life gives us, And only when something big breaks in our lives do we notice: Our wife/girlfriend tells us she’s not happy. You find out your work will be laying people off soon. You have a health scare  A mentor of mine once told me about the analogy of the Feather, the Brick, and the Bus. The Feather refers to the little seemingly insignificant clues life leaves us to show us we’re making a mistake. The Brick is the thing life hits us with when we ignore the feather for too long (some of the things I mentioned above). And when we fail to listen after being hit by a few bricks, life hits us with a BUS.  It’s the heart attack, the divorce, the economic collapse that we could have seen coming but chose to ignore the signs.     Do you feel too lazy to train? When I ask dudes what’s stopping them from making the changes they know they need to make in their lives I often hear “I guess I’m just lazy…” This isn’t the worst answer in my book because at least this shows that the man is taking ownership of his situation. However my response is often something like:  “Are you lazy?” Most men who tell me this work full time and have a family to care for. They’re busy productive guys in those areas of their lives, but struggle to attack their personal goals with the same commitment.     Ep31 - Upgrading Your Character

    If your life were a video game, you’d be the main character. And just like in a video game when you upgrade your character in real life, THE GAME GETS MORE FUN TOO! Ep31 is about how you can make your life easier, more fun, and more meaningful. So far life has only revealed one way of doing this to me.  (I’ll be sure to let you know if I find any short cuts along the way) And that’s upgrading your character. You know when you just start playing a video game, and because you’re at level 1 every other character in the game can destroy you? It’s a battle just to survive! (Kinda sounds like a lot of people’s lives…) But once you get to level 20 those same characters that could kill you with one shot at the start are now just a nuisance that you can deal with easily. The problems in your life are just like those characters.  You’ll never get rid of them BUT you could become so good that it’s physically impossible for them to bother you.     Ep30 - A Winning Environment

    We went abseiling and climbing on the weekend. Most people would make the mistake of thinking that these are solo sports, But that couldn’t be further from the truth. These challenging and potentially scary experiences, And they both provide us the opportunity to work outside of our comfort zone. That’s not an easy thing to do for anyone. Ep30 is about the one thing that makes it much much easier… Surrounding yourself with like-minded people, and those who have gone before you. Many of the men who joined us had some reservations about these challenges on the day.  Having the team around them allowed them to settle their nerves and have an experience and a sense of achievement that they otherwise never would have had. In this way our ability to create change, and better ourselves, is directly impacted by the people we surround ourselves with.  Get around some good blokes and your life improves dramatically. Place yourself amongst fearful, unmotivated, and negative people, and you’ll learn where that takes you too.     Ep28 - The Price of our Values

    How much is your life WORTH to you? Hopefully it’s worth everything to you. Hopefully the value of all the things you own, and the experiences you may get to have, pale in comparison when put up next to your life. Some of the most important things in life are difficult to put a price tag on. How much would you pay to have great physical and mental health?  How much would you pay to have a truly amazing and passionate relationship? How much would you pay to spend more quality time with your friends and family? We know how much we might pay for a new car or house, but what would we sacrifice for these things? We often have very little problem buying objects that we think will make our lives better, Yet we may say we don’t have the money to invest in our health, our skills, and our relationships. At the end of the day what we are really saying to ourselves is that: We don’t value these things enough to find a way to invest in them. And anything we don’t value will turn to shit So when it comes to deciding on making a purchase around the things in our lives that are difficult to put a price on,  Stop thinking about the price, and start thinking about the value.     Ep25 - Leaning into Fear

    All of best things in life are on the other side of fear. A few weeks ago I ran an event that saw myself and 7 Unbreakable Men climb up Logan’s Ridge to hit the summit of South East Qld’s tallest mountain, Mt Barney. It’s known to be a tricky and potentially dangerous route.  If you’re not careful you can get seriously hurt.  It was a tough climb physically and mentally for a number of the men on the mission.  But for those men hitting the summit was an even greater reward. If you’ve ever done anything scary you will understand how amazing the feeling of accomplishment is afterwards. And it seems that this feeling grows in proportion the further out of our comfort zone we go. This episode is about why we should do the scary things in life.     Ep15 Dr Dinesh Palipana - A man with a WHY can bare any how.

    In Ep15 I sit down with Dr Dinesh Palipana. He’s most well known for being one of the few practicing doctors in the country with a severe disability. He was left wheelchair bound and lost the use of his hands after a car crash whilst he was going through medical school. Despite this, my impression of Dr Dinesh was that he’s one of the most satisfied and fulfilled men I’ve ever met. In our chat we explore how one man can seemingly lose everything, and yet still find more joy and fulfilment in his life than those who seemingly have everything.     Ep12 - Weight Loss Surgery

    Weight loss surgery. If we went back 100yrs and told people that in the future we would be paying thousands to have most of our stomachs removed to force ourselves to eat less, I think they’d say we’re crazy… But the world is changing. And this is virtually common place now. Everyone knows at least one person who’s had weight loss surgery. I 100% believe and sympathise with the very real psychological challenges that are causing people to take this path. But I don’t think removing a part of your stomach is solving the real problem. They are symptoms of the real problem within us.  Men who don’t suffer from these challenges aren’t fighting the urge to do these things every day, They never feel these urges in the first place!
