He's With me in the Fire

Send us Fan MailShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and the fiery furnace seems like the last place you would look for a message about marriage, but the recent Marriage Retreat Christina and Melissia went on with their husbands talked about just that. One speaker mentioned the fire being turned up 7 times, but it would be. The fire was so hot. How hot are we making the fire in our marriages? Thank goodness we can go through those fiery times with God by our side. It is said often in this podcast; it is so much easier to go through anything with God in your life. We need to keep the connection with him by praying and reading our Bible. Keep God at the center of your marriage!Daniel 3:13-26'Then Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. So they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up? Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated. And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their cloaks, their tunics, their hats, and their other garments, and they were thrown into the burning fiery furnace. Because the king’s order was urgent and the furnace overheated, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell bound into the burning fiery furnace. Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and rose up in haste. He declared to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” He answered and said, “But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.” Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire. Be Interruptible

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. In our lives we have to be able to let God interrupt us, change our path even. The same thing goes for people we encounter throughout our day. We have to remain interruptible. Many of the miracles Jesus performed were done when he was interrupted. Give Yourself Grace

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. When we are trying to please God and our families, we are never going to be perfect. we are going to "fail" at some point. We have to remember to give ourselves grace. God gives us grace, and we often forget that he knows we are not perfect. We need to learn from what we are struggling with and move forward. We see you and we know it can be tough. OVERWHELMING. EXAUSTING. Know God loves you, seek Him and let Him show you what your next steps are.Romans 5:1-11' Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. He Will Give you Rest

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. But I will leave in your midst a people humble and lowly. They shall seek refuge in the name of the Lord , those who are left in Israel; they shall do no injustice and speak no lies, nor shall there be found in their mouth a deceitful tongue. For they shall graze and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.” Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem! The Lord has taken away the judgments against you; he has cleared away your enemies. The King of Israel, the Lord , is in your midst; you shall never again fear evil. On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: “Fear not, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak. The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. I will gather those of you who mourn for the festival, so that you will no longer suffer reproach. Behold, at that time I will deal with all your oppressors. And I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise and renown in all the earth. At that time I will bring you in, at the time when I gather you together; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes,” says the Lord .'Matthew 11:28-30'Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Written on the Hearts of All

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. To look at all God created and not to see that indeed it had to have been created by a higher power, but instead created by happenstance is such a leap of faith. It takes more faith to be an atheist than the see what has been created and recognize there has to be a creator. God did create the earth and everything in it, including all of us. Do you notice how people who do not believe in God and are not saved still seem to have a set of morals and rules that they follow? We call this a conscience. Where did this conscience come from? God wrote these set of rules on all the hearts of his creation, all of his creation. Whether someone believes or not that person was created by God and has these laws within them. Some people make choices to the point where their heart is hardened. Some people are influenced by evil. We all have the conscience, but we still have conflicting thoughts or excuses to let ourselves believe that what we are doing is okay, even with a Holy Spirit. This is why it's so easy for unbelievers to do things against this law, they need that Holy Spirit and the guidance of God. Speaking as a person with the Holy Spirt, sin is still a battle. We will fight against our flesh and the spiritual world, but none of us are without the laws.Romans 1:18-25"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen."Romans 2: 12-16"For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus."Christians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Way Maker

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends.Everything happens in God's timing. He will lead us to something and often we have to wait for our next steps. BUT in the meantime, don't wait around. Go do the work. Be sharpened. Ask God to search your heart, to refine you. So, in a way, while you wait for God's timing on what he is calling you to, don't wait and do nothing. Witness about Jesus. Learn the things you need to learn. Do the work that is needing done. God is making a way for what he is calling you to. We cannot understand his ways, so we need to just trust in the fact that he is our Way Maker. ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬“So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.””‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬“yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.””‭‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Yet not What I Will, but What you Will

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. As humans, we want all the creature comforts. As Christians, we don’t stop wanting that and we know what our God can do. He can take our pain and He can heal any of our sorrows. But often we need the pain. Pain sometimes helps us; to be alarmed to a problem in our bodies, to help us through emotional sorrow, or to refine us. What we go through grows us and allows us to have compassion and understanding for others. ‭‭Mark‬ ‭14‬:‭34‬-‭39‬ ‭ESV‬‬“And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch.” And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.”Mentioned in this episode:Lysa TerKuerst, “It’s Not Supposed to be This Way”Find us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    In Wonder and Surrender

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. Full surrender comes from trusting God. Our obedience of what the LORD is asking of us shows God that we love him. Not obeying God completely, is not being truly obedient. “Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. The one who doesn’t love me will not keep my words. The word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me. “I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit,   whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you. “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Let Your Ear be Attentive to the Prayer of Your Servant

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. Melissia and Christina talk about God‘s provision and putting their trust in Him. Sometimes we try to take control of our lives and the situations we are in rather than letting God take care of us. We want to keep our worldly comforts, but God often calls us ‭to more so we will rely on Him more fully. He always has something better for us than we could ever plan for ourselves. God always hears us, but we need to release our grip and let God work in our lives.‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬-‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬“And the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart.” Then I was very much afraid. I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” Then the king said to me, “What are you requesting?” So I prayed to the God of heaven. And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ graves, that I may rebuild it.””Find us:Our Webpagehttps://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    The Lord Has Sent you

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends.  God often calls us to things that we are afraid to do or we just plain don’t want to. Melissia was feeling led to speak about the rebuilding of the temple in the book of Haggai. When God‘s people finally surrendered in obedience, they were able to feel a fullness and joy from God. Christina talked about that same surrender God’s servant Job had when he lost his whole family and everything he owned and was stricken with sickness. When Job surrendered to God, he was blessed by God with something greater just as God’s people in Haggai were. Let’s live our lives in obedience and surrender to God. Then we can see what God truly has in store for us in our lives. We are here to bring glory to Him, but He is so gracious to bless us in that journey. ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬“I said in my heart, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy yourself.” But behold, this also was vanity. I said of laughter, “It is mad,” and of pleasure, “What use is it?” I searched with my heart how to cheer my body with wine—my heart still guiding me with wisdom—and how to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the children of man to do under heaven during the few days of their life.”‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬“So I became great and surpassed all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me. And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart found pleasure in all my toil, and this was my reward for all my toil. Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.”‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”‭‭Haggai‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬““Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified, says the Lord. You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? declares the Lord of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.”‭‭Haggai‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Then Haggai, the messenger of the Lord, spoke to the people with the Lord’s message, “I am with you, declares the Lord.” And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,”‭‭Haggai‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the Lord. Be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the Lord. Work, for I am with you, declares the Lord of hosts, according to the covenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not. For thus says the Lord of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land. And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with gloChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Baptism: Testimony of Faith

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. Baptism is the outward expression of faith. It’s your Testimony! We are not saved with baptism. We are saved only with the blood of Jesus! We are then sealed! The Bible talks about the importance of baptism, and we should be obedient to that. However, only our faith in Jesus will save us. It’s Jesus! Only his blood, his perfect sacrifice. Praise God for His grace and giving us His son as the perfect sacrifice! To say we are not saved without baptism, is to say that Jesus is not the perfect sacrifice! We are sealed with that blood and the acceptance of the Holy Spirit! Bring baptized is the testimony of our faith. Showing the death of our old self and the new life in Christ! ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬-‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬-‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, byChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    The Greatest Gift

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends.  The greatest gift is Jesus! We get the spirit of God to dwell in us being our guide. We are HONORED with the opportunity to share the greatest gift WE can give to another person, the gift of sharing the gospel! Praise God for trusting us to be part of His message! ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭52‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Behold, my servant shall act wisely; he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be exalted. As many were astonished at you— his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the children of mankind— so shall he sprinkle many nations. Kings shall shut their mouths because of him, for that which has not been told them they see, and that which they have not heard they understand.”‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭15‬-‭20‬, ‭26‬ ‭ESV‬‬““If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”Mentioned in this episode:fearthelamb TikTok She Reads Truth Bible CSB Translation Passion of the ChristDaily Devotional Tap Bracelets Find us:Our Webpagehttps://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Refinement and Restoration

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends.God’s plans for us are beyond our scope. It’s hard to know why we are going through the things we are. While we are still in the midst of it, it’s especially hard to know of what good is going to come from it all. We have to know that God sharpens us and He uses all things for His glory and for our good. We need to let our suffering get us to the point of where God needs us to be and let it sharpen us and glorify God. We need to be prepared for the rough times. God does not say that we will be without hard times as Christians. The Bible actually says to expect it, be ready. God brought Himself down to our level and chose to humble Himself and suffer for us, through Jesus. Jesus suffered more than we can imagine. All because he loves us. The pain that is a Crucification from those times! And know that He was sure to have it worse than others. But that’s not the pain I’m speaking of. When he took on all the sins of Christians that ever existed and will exist, that would have been…well I can’t even guess actually.  Know that whatever we go through, it’s worth the eternity in His presence. Remember to praise God through all of everything, like Job did. ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭12‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬““If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you, how will you compete with horses? And if in a safe land you are so trusting, what will you do in the thicket of the Jordan? For even your brothers and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you; they are in full cry after you; do not believe them, though they speak friendly words to you.””Mentioned in this episode:https://www.lifebible.com/https://www.crossway.org/bibles/esv-study-bible-case/Bible ProjectFind us:Our Webpagehttps://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

Should not Shepherds Feed the Sheep?

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. In the book of Ezekiel it talks about leaders who were benefiting from those who they were to care for. The people they were to lead. They were not taking care of the sick, the poor, the lost, or the hungry. God calls us to love one another. We have to be taking care of each other. ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭34‬:‭1‬-‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬“The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say to them, even to the shepherds, Thus says the Lord God: Ah, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding yourselves! Should not shepherds feed the sheep? You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat ones, but you do not feed the sheep. The weak you have not strengthened, the sick you have not healed, the injured you have not bound up, the strayed you have not brought back, the lost you have not sought, and with force and harshness you have ruled them. So they were scattered, because there was no shepherd, and they became food for all the wild beasts. My sheep were scattered; they wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. My sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, with none to search or seek for them. “Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: As I live, declares the Lord God, surely because my sheep have become a prey, and my sheep have become food for all the wild beasts, since there was no shepherd, and because my shepherds have not searched for my sheep, but the shepherds have fed themselves, and have not fed my sheep, therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: Thus says the Lord God, Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require my sheep at their hand and put a stop to their feeding the sheep. No longer shall the shepherds feed themselves. I will rescue my sheep from their mouths, that they may not be food for them.”Mentioned in this episode:https://www.lifebible.com/https://www.crossway.org/bibles/esv-study-bible-case/Find us:Our Webpagehttps://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Thankfulness Grows Your Faith

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. When we are thankful we don’t have room for worry.  God did not wire our brains that way. Through faith we do God’s works. Our trust in God comes from having faith. We must have faith! We grow it with thankfulness in God and knowing Him! ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. The Bible talks about how people will be held to what we teach others, especially when it comes to children. We were able to hear from women who were talking about the battles they were going through. How they could relate to the message we were giving. We prayed so hard for the Holy Spirit to speak through us and boy did we see God moving! We spoke on our worth that can only come from God. Searching for our worth in worldly things tends to leave us wanting. In this episode you will also hear about the peace that comes from being aligned with God’s will. We spoke about how God will allow things to be taken from us, in order for our paths to be straightened. ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬“My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech, who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways.”Mentioned in this episode:https://www.lifebible.com/YouVersion plan 'Dangerous Prayers'Crisis Pregnancy CenterGod’s Not Dead - Dean Cain- PureFlixFind us:Our Webpagehttps://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Trusting God Through Life’s Disappointments

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. To paraphrase Lysa TerKeurst, who said it well, “The gap between our expectations and reality is where our disappointment lies.” It’s natural to expectations in life and have a picture of how things are supposed to be, but when those things don’t happen we get disappointed. We as Christian’s need to remember God knows the plan better than we could begin to imagine it. We need to trust God when we don’t get what we want out of life and trust that he knows what he’s doing. It is hard and we are still human, but we can ask God for comfort. We can ask God to give us encouragement. He is gracious enough to give it to us. He loves us so much. In Psalms 23 it says that he walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death, that he will deliver us from evil. That he will prepare a seat for us in the presence of our enemies, while he anoints our head with oil and over flows our cups. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like our cup is overflowing, but are we walking in his plan? Are we being obedient to what he is calling us to? Walking in his path and his plan is key to the overflowing cup. Ask God for these things. Ask God for his path, his encouragement and your cup will overflow. I’m so excited for you because when God delivers it is so overwhelming, the love he has for us!  Even through the disappointment of the way we thought it should be, there is encouragement because God knows the better way!‭‭Psalm‬ ‭23‬:‭1‬-‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”Mentioned in this episode:Lysa TerKuerst, “It’s Not Supposed to be This Way”https://www.lifebible.com/https://bibleproject.com/app/Louie Giglio, “Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table”Find us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

To Halloween or not to Halloween?

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. The question in our hearts should always be, “What is God asking from me”. Sometimes that means, what is he asking us to give up. Christina was contemplating this in this episode. She was feeling a personal conviction to not celebrate Halloween anymore. Now we are not saying you should do what she is doing. We are saying God calls us in different ways and convicts us in different areas at different times. For whatever reason God is calling her out of this holiday. That being said, we should all be taking a hard check at our celebrations and our lives in general. Is this something God would want from me? Maybe not. They talk about seeing the evils in the word and knowing when people are not of God. We should not come along and support those who do not support God!!‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬“You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. Finding Your Worth

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. We all try and find our worth in worldly things or achievements at some point in our lives. Often people will search after success in a secular way. I’ve been there. Do I have a good enough job yet, do I make enough money, have a husband, a home? These things can all be great but we will never get true fulfillment from these things. Only from God can we get that fulfillment. God loves us so much and He knows us! He knows us so well that the hairs on our head on numbered. As Christians we were written in the book of life from the beginning, BEFORE the foundation of the world. He had YOU picked to be His. He knew you would answer. DO NOT let that enemy tell you anything different. Your shame, your past, the things you tell yourself you are not. Don’t listen! YOU have worth! YOU are loved!‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”Mentioned in this episode:Megan Woods- “The Truth”JUSTIN BIEBER AND CHANDLER MOORE LYRIC VIDEO | Jireh (You Are Enough)Justin Bieber: Journey To Jesus | Full Mini-Movie ᴴᴰ 2021 (Life Story and his Faith in God)Find us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. The Least Will be the Greatest

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. God often uses the unlikely people to do his will. Those who are considered less in society and in a worldly sense. These are often the people that God rises up to do great things! In the Bible, God uses prostitutes, the sick, the poor, and woman! He uses those the world sees are less than. God takes them and shows them their worth, lets them know that they are loved and saves them out of their situation. Those who humble themselves and become like children, these will be the greatest in heaven. Jesus did not come for the healthy, he came for the sick. He came to rescue us from ourselves really. If Jesus would have come to this world and sought out the leaders to help him finish his work, his ministry would not have been able to blossom in the way that it did. GOD KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING!‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭CSB‬‬“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “So who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a small child and had him stand among them. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child — this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬-‭20‬ ‭CSB‬‬““Don’t think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all things are accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever does and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.”‭‭Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭CSB‬‬“Afterward he was traveling from one town and village to another, preaching and telling the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary, called Magdalene (seven demons had come out of her); Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward; Susanna; and many others who were supporting them from their possessions.”Mentioned in this episode:https://bibleproject.com/playlists/the-least-and-greatest-in-the-kingdomFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Storing up Treasures

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. We as Christians should not be storing up things for moths and rust to destroy. We have to trust that God will provide what we need without having to hoard things. This only causes things to get dusty and clutter things up, or even to be ruined. We have both struggled with this and in our walk with God we are learning that we are not trusting him when we do this. Our items are not being used for those in need and we have to care for them! We are serving our items and giving our time to them! We are making temptations for others to rob and cause sin. Talk to God and ask him to guide you on who needs the items that you don’t! ‭‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭29‬-‭34‬ ‭ESV‬‬“And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭CSB‬‬““Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward with your Father in heaven. So whenever you give to the poor, don’t sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. But when you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭CSB‬‬“I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content — whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me.”‭‭‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭CSB‬‬“Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with all things to enjoy. The legacy above all, is to leave a legacy of our testimony of Jesus. How we lived our lives and how that influenced those around us, especially our children! Did we set an example of how to live our lives for Christ? Did we plant the seeds of the gospel into the younger generation? If we are not growing the church through the youth then the church will eventually die. How are we growing the kingdom of heaven if we are not discipling the next generations?‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away.”Exodus‬ ‭34‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭CSB‬‬“The Lord passed in front of him and proclaimed: The Lord  — the Lord is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth, maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But he will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.”‭‭Mentioned in this episode:https://www.lifebible.com/Focus on the Family- Understanding the Generational Curse Find us:Our WebsiteOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

I Will Send out an Army

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends.God says he will leave the 99 to come and find the one! As the song, “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle says, “I will send out and Army, to find you in the middle of the darkest night. It’s true, I will rescue you.” One day, as Melissia was listening to this song, it clicked with her about just who is enlisted into that army of God. It’s Christians! It’s you and I. When the Bible or anyone talks about an army, it’s easy to imagine an army of angels. And although God does sometimes use an army of angels, often it is the everyday people who God places to fight for one of his lost. You and I! Be there for one another. Obey God when he asks you to do anything. You have no idea what it could mean to someone!‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬““You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”Mentioned in the episode:Lauren Daigle, “Rescue”Find us:Our WebsiteOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant, is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. Church Hurt!

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. No church is perfect, because imperfect people are there. Just because we are Christian, does not mean that we won’t mess up. We will! Then what? We need to be accountable to each other and work it out. If you are being called to a different church, then follow that. Don’t allow people to get in the way of your relationship with God. We have all heard it before, people stopped attending church because someone hurt their feelings or offended them.  Would you really let that come between you and God? We hope not! We are still to follow all of what the Bible tells us to do. To serve the Lord! In whatever way He calls you! Is that to serve at church? Is that to start a program in your neighborhood? Follow God’s path! We cannot stress that enough. We are also called to tithe. People might see this in different ways, but the bottom line is, this is God’s money that he blessed you with. What is He calling you to do with it? If we are not tithing to the church, how can we  expect the church to function in a biblical way? Joel‬ ‭1‬:‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.”‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬““What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats. “When you come to appear before me, who has required of you this trampling of my courts? Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.”‭‭Haggai‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬“For thus says the Lord of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land. And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the Lord of hosts. The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, declares the Lord of hosts.’””‭‭Mentioned in this episode:https://www.lifebible.com/Find us:Our WebsiteOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Complete Surrender

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. There is a great quote from Christian author, Jennie Allen that says, “Great people do not do great things; God does great things through surrendered people.” If we want to walk in the path God has for us, it takes surrender! We as Christians need to die to self. Which means that we are not the important ones, our plans are not what matters. We know that’s hard to hear sometimes. Also, if we are not feeling pulled to compassion for others, then we should give our salvation a hard check! ‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭ESV“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Speaking Truth is Showing Love

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. We need to be firm in our Faith. Not to be afraid to share the real Gospel Truth with love! We are not loving someone when we ignore our sins. Allowing others to believe false doctrine can be the difference in their Salvation. Our sins also hurt our relationship with God. We are not loving fellow Christians by ignoring these sins. We must be accountable to one another. When someone is not yet saved, we need to not worry so much about the sin, but rather love on them. We need to show them the love that God has shown us. Share our struggles and while we speak the truth about what the Bible says, we need to remember God will convict them of their sins in His time. When they are not saved, they do not have the Holy Spirit guiding them!‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.”‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭3‬-‭5‬, ‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬“If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.”‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”Mentioned in this Episode:Signing Time "Proud To Be Me" (DJ Lex Tree-House Mix) https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3CBUFvOKvn/?igsh=ZWRrcGVnMGlkaGV6Find us:Our WebsiteOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcastChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Be Like Job!

God is there for us, even in the struggles. He has an understanding that is not for us and He has the best plan for us. We can’t know the ways for God as he tells us in the book of Job. We wasn’t there when the Earth was formed and it wasn’t our power that did it. We can not always know the “whys” of our lives. Let’s just hope that God will look at us the way He does Job and for Him to bless us for our refusal to stop praising God through everything! ‭‭Job‬ ‭40‬:‭1‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV“And the Lord said to Job: “Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.” Then Job answered the Lord and said: “Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further.” Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: “Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right? What it Means to Remember the Sabbath

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. What does it mean to remember the Sabbath? God rested on the 7th day after 6 days of creation. Do you think the maker of the universe needed a break? Probably not. God reflected on all he had made. We need that time in our week to recharge. We need to remember who God is and regain the strength to complete our works the next week. Without rest and recharging, we cannot properly be the workers, the wives, or the mothers that God is calling us to be. It is sometimes hard for us to not feel lazy as we take this rest, like we are not contributing to our household. There is a difference between rest and laziness. Rest is a reward for a job well done, while laziness is an excuse to not complete what needs done. Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.”‭‭‭‭Mark‬ ‭2‬:‭23‬-‭28‬ ‭ESV‬‬“One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God, in the time ofAbiathar the high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?” And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Where does Your Allegiance Lie?

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends.Proud to be an American. How many times have you said this in your life? If you are from America, I'm sure you have said or thought similar. If you are not from America, it is the same for where you are. Where is your allegiance? Is your allegiance to your country about that of the allegiance you give to God? We are called to live in community and God has asked his people many times to make life where they are. The Bible also talks about how we are to obey those who are in authority over us, as long as it doesn't go against the Will or Word of God, and we are to do it with glad hearts! This however does not tell us to think of our countries above that of God. Anything we put above God becomes like an idol. Our allegiance is first to God then to anything else! Christina and Melissia talk about the Pledge of Allegiance and discuss if it is ok to do. The conversation moved to separation of church and state and what that means for us as Christians. Being a Christian doesn't mean you can't share God with others because of where you are. We are called to do so! Follow God's path and he will show you His Will!‭‭Romans‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬-‭7‬ ‭CSB‬‬“Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God. So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the one in authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval. For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong. Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath but also because of your conscience. And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s servants, continually attending to these tasks. Pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect, and honor to those you owe honor.”Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.”Mentioned in this episode:https://www.youversion.com/https://www.lifebible.com/Pat Barrett, Kari Jobe - Daily Bread Come Thou Fount (Above All Else) - Shane & ShaneFind us:Our WebsiteOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

She was Full of Good Works

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. Oh, to be remembered like Tabitha a woman in the book of Acts. Those who knew her, not only mourned the loss of her, but the loss of all she did for everyone. If we could only be remembered that way, what a great compliment that would be! “She was full of good works and acts of charity”.  She was a disciple of Jesus and in our lives here on earth, there is nothing more important than that! Whether we have to completely change our schedule or even not go to things like church board meetings to be in the ministry of others, we need to do it. God has called us to serve one another! No matter what our gifts and talents are, serving God is to love. When a scribe said to Jesus he wanted to follow him wherever he went, another disciple said first let me go bury my father. Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead”. Wow! Nothing should get in the way of us following Jesus! Nothing! Not even burying  our fathers!‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8‬:‭19‬-‭22‬ ‭CSB‬‬“A scribe approached him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus told him, “Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” “Lord,” another of his disciples said, “first let me go bury my father.” But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.””‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭4‬-‭8‬ ‭CSB‬‬“Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another. According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one’s faith; if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching; if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.”‭‭Acts‬ ‭9‬:‭36‬-‭42‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity. In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Please come to us without delay.” So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them. But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.”Mentioned in this episode:https://www.jennieallen.com/find-your-peopleYou can find us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.com/https://www.facebook.com/christiansinthegrittyTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.the.grittyChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    The Overwhelmed Christian

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends.Life can be overwhelming, Christian or not. Although, as Christians we have the advantage of having God to look to for help. God is faithful and will help us through any overwhelming times or heavily burdened times we will have. We need to remember to look to him. Read the Bible and seek his guidance. Pray! When we start our day with God it changes our perspective. We invite Him to be in our lives and it changes our hearts. Continue to do this throughout the day. The change will be big. Also remember not to carry our burdens alone. Find people around us to help with our heavy load. We as Christians need to pay attention to those around us. Come along beside one another and offer help. Even those who are not Christian, we need to pick up when they are struggling. In fact, especially those who don't fear God. They do not have the same kind of hope or tools that we do. Show the love of Jesus to them. ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭61‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭ESV“Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. We will miss them and we wonder if we have prepared them to be without our guidance. ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬“My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Hear, O sons, a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight, for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching. When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother, he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her. She will place on your head a graceful garland; she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.” Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many. I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble. Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life. Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil.”Mentioned in this episode:https://www.lifebible.com/You can find us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.com/https://www.facebook.com/christiansinthegrittyTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.the.grittyChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

Let me not be put to Shame

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. I’m sure we all have experienced someone not liking them. Some people may not like the way we look, the way we talk, our religion. Christina and Melissia discuss how it feels when someone attacks your character. How that can be the worse of all attacks. It’s like they are saying something is wrong with who you are as a person. In the face of our enemies, God is with us! Let God handle what is good or bad. Just keep serving God and let the rest work itself out! ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬“When a man’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”‭‭Psalm‬ ‭31‬:‭9‬-‭20‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also. For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away. Because of all my adversaries I have become a reproach, especially to my neighbors, and an object of dread to my acquaintances; those who see me in the street flee from me. I have been forgotten like one who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel. For I hear the whispering of many— terror on every side!— as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life. But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors! Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love! O Lord, let me not be put to shame, for I call upon you; let the wicked be put to shame; let them go silently to Sheol. Let the lying lips be mute, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt. Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind! In the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men; you store them in your shelter from the strife of tongues.”Mentioned in this episode:Lysa Terkeurst “Forgiving What you Can’t  Forget.” https://www.lifebible.com/You can find us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.com/https://www.facebook.com/christiansinthegrittyTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.the.grittyChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Parenting with Hope

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. Parenting can be so hard. Anyone who’s done it, knows that. Christina and Melissia talk in this episode about how parenting kids that have had significant trauma in their lives can leave the child with behaviors that are not typical of other children. Often self sabotaging their own wellbeing instead of accepting help and love from their parents. Melissia mentions the importance of healing for these kids before we can expect a great change in behavior or reactions. Christina talks about raising children that are not biologically hers and how that can have obstacles. They discuss how important it’s is that these kids be shown that they have worth and value, but often don’t believe it.  Many children have lost the feeling of hope. We as Christians need to remember that we serve the God of hope! Jesus saved us and offers us the greatest hope, that one day we will be in his arms. Raising kids with that hope is everything. ‭‭Romans‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ ‭CSB‬‬“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”You can find us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.com/https://www.facebook.com/christiansinthegrittyTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.the.grittyChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Where do I belong?

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends.Have you ever thought, “Where do I belong?” Chances are, that you probably have. It’s a longing we have inside of us to seek others and have a need to belong and be liked. In the book by Jeannie Allen, “Find Your People”, she talks about how we are physically, emotionally, and spiritually hardwired by God for relationship. She goes on to say, “From the moment you were born until you take your last breath, deep, authentic connection is the thing your soul most craves.” She is right, the Bible mentions over and over the importance of community, but with this desire we can be left feeling left out and lonely. Melissia shares about how she used to think it was important to be in “the cool kids club” but has found through many experiences in life that coolness is definitely in the eye of the beholder. The people who God places in your life, they are meant for you and isn't that way cooler than anything we could come up with? Just keep your focus on God and the rest will follow. Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭ESV‬‬“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”‭‭‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬-‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭44‬-‭47‬ ‭ESV‬‬“And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”Mentioned in this episode:“Find your people”https://www.jennieallen.com/find-your-peoplehttps://www.lifebible.com/You can find us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.com/https://www.facebook.com/christiansinthegrittyTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.the.grittyChristians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast

    Marriage Retreat- Run Your Race!

Send us Fan MailChristians. Sisters. Best Friends. Christina and Melissia talk about the Marriage Retreat that they just went on with their husbands as well as just marriage in general. The theme of the marriage retreat was running your race. Marriage is hard and if we are not putting God at the center of it, it can lead to the end for many. God wants us to marry someone and stay together forever. After we consummate the marriage, we become not two flesh but one. Having more than one partner in our life time causes us to carry the damage and connection to others, into our marriage. This and other traumas, hurt and baggage can cause many obstacles in our marriage. We need to find healing for these hurts, throw off the things that get in the way of our relationship with our spouse. Don’t just sit it aside, it needs thrown off with urgency! No marriage is perfect, but we all should ask ourselves if our marriage reflects God. When non Christian people look at our marriage, do they see something that they would want? When our children see how we interact with our spouse do they see love? Do they see an example of how to be a married couple? Looking to God when we have disagreements and putting our focus on Him is a great way for children to learn how a marriage should be. Like it or not, your children will probably mirror how you are in your marriage. You are the example of how to have disagreements and co parent. We have to admit that we have work to do there. It’s so worth it. We have the power to change generations upon generations by setting that example! Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭CSB‬‬“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him who endured such hostility from sinners against himself, so that you won’t grow weary and give up.”‭‭Mentioned in this episode:https://www.familylife.com/verticalmarriagestudy/Christians in The GrittyFind us:https://christiansinthegritty.buzzsprout.comOur Facebook PageTikTok: christiansinthegrittyInstagram: christians.in.gritty.podcast
