#12: Cara McErlain - Calming your mind & managing anxiety

On today's episode I had Cara McErlain also known as alilpageofpositivity! I didn't really prepare much for this episode because I knew me and Cara would be able to talk for ages just from what I seen on her socials. She is one of the nicest girls I have ever chatted with and she has so much knowledge with her job as a psychological wellbeing practitioner! Cara started her page on Instagram to make a difference in the world of mental health by openly talking about her own experience and comforting others by letting them know they're not alone :) There's loads of quotes in this episode that we speak about, one in particular by Michelle Obama that gave us both a lot of comfort and also Cara's own quotes that she writes herself. If you haven't been feeling yourself recently or even just want to feel that bit better, this episode will hopefully help and inspire you! I hope you enjoy! #11: Trusting the process ...

Hey everyone, solo episode again today! For the first time since I was 5, I'm fully coming out of education and trying to find a job and it feels scary. The uncertainty of where I'm going next is scary and can be overwhelming sometimes. I woke up this morning feeling anxious and on edge but I also don't like feeling like that and I know that doesn't fix anything. So I done a few things that usually calm my mind and help me be grateful for what I currently have and where I can go. I hope this episode helps anyone who has ever felt the same and can try some of these things to trust the process and allow amazing things to come to them in good time. Sara x

#10: Nevin Riches - Life Mixed-Race during The Troubles

This episode is with Nevin Riches, a 48 year old man from Cookstown. My mum and Gerard had told me about Nevin as a potential guest on the podcast because we had similar stories growing up - both being mixed race in the North of Ireland and from the same area. The conversation we had was extremely vulnerable, emotional and for me it was hard hitting to hear some of the experiences Nevin had growing up mixed-race during The Troubles in Ireland. We speak of the changing times and how to get through the trauma of those experiences. Nevin moved to Manchester at 16 to play football for Man City and the rest is history... I hope you enjoy this episode and another thanks to Nevin for his openness to share some of his experiences with me and all of you. Sara

#9: Questions I've never asked my mummy ...

Honestly don't want to say too much about this episode because it was so unplanned and neither of us had any idea what was going to come up. I told mummy when I was home last week that I wanted to do a podcast with her and she wasn't allowed know any of the questions, so that's what we done. I think this is probably the deepest conversation we ever had and we both said that we felt SO good after it. The full unedited version was actually 2 hours and 20 minutes long but we cut it down into what we felt were the most important and meaningly bits for us. I have so much love and respect for my mummy and I hope you enjoy this episode xxx Sara x

#8: Terezita Doherty - "Girl we're just living the same life"

This episode is with Terezita Doherty and we actually realised we have basically lived the exact same lives hahaha. We talk about everything from her job change, her love for animals, modelling, our similarities in being mixed race and the only person of colour in our family. Terezita also talks about the first time she found out she had another sister, her relationship with her Dad and having those difficult conversations with your family about uncomfortable topics. I love this episode and it was so refreshing speaking to someone who understands your experiences. She has some good and reassuring advice at the end and I hope this podcast inspires or relates to even one person Enjoy!!
