19: Simple Self-Care Through the Holidays

As a mom myself, I understand how easy it is to set aside our own needs in favor of our family's happiness. But, as we'll discuss in this episode, prioritizing your self-care isn't a luxury; it's a necessity. We’ll explore four foundational pillars of self-care: nurturing your body, nourishing your mind, tending to your heart, and creating a harmonious home environment. Join me as we simplify self-care so you can emerge from the holiday rush feeling revitalized instead of depleted. Key Takeaways: Body: Prioritize adequate sleep and hydration throughout the holiday season to maintain your energy and well-being without resorting to drastic diets or restrictions. Mind:Simplify your holiday To-Do List and focus on your personal joy by letting go of perfectionism, allowing yourself to truly enjoy the present moment with your family. Heart:Make time for hobbies you love and practice gratitude to enhance emotional well-being and create meaningful moments, while also permitting yourself to feel your emotions fully. Home:Transform your living space into a cozy sanctuary that reflects joy, and involve your family in maintaining this environment to foster a collective sense of care and responsibility.  Notable Quotes:  "Self-care doesn’t have to look a specific way; it can be whatever you need it to be." 15: Building a Relationship with Your Inner Dinosaur

Last week, we uncovered the purpose of your inner dinosaur: keeping you safe and protected. 14: Meet Your Inner Dinosaur

We all have an “inner dinosaur”—that inner voice that’s more than just an “inner mean girl.” This dinosaur’s job is to keep you safe, even if it means holding you back with negative thoughts and limiting beliefs. In this episode, we’ll explore how recognizing this inner dinosaur can help you take back control, break free from self-doubt, and start taking empowered action. Key Takeaways: The ego can be reframed as the "inner dinosaur," simplifying the understanding of its role in our lives. Recognizing and naming your inner dinosaur helps create a healthier relationship with your thoughts and emotions. Your inner dinosaur often expresses itself through negative self-talk, anxiety, and perfectionism as a way to protect you. Engaging in dialogue with your inner dinosaur can help you gain control over your emotions and thoughts. Practicing mindfulness and self-reflection allows you to address and soothe the worries expressed by your inner dinosaur. Notable Quotes: “Building a relationship with your inner dinosaur is key to understanding that it is a part of you, but it does not define you.” "Recognizing that your inner dinosaur is a part of you—not all of you—allows for a greater sense of control and compassion." "When you acknowledge your inner dinosaur, you can turn chaos into clarity and fear into growth." Journal Prompt: What stories does my inner dinosaur tell me about myself? How can I reframe these stories into something more supportive and empowering? 13: Remove Your Mask and Find Alignment with Yourself

Are you hiding behind a mask, pretending to be someone you aren’t.? Maybe it’s because you don’t want to go against the norm, or maybe it’s because you think this version of yourself is more acceptable and expected. Whatever the reason, I can say with 100% certainty that wearing that mask is causing you harm. It’s time to step into your power and find alignment with yourself and who you truly are.  Key Takeaways: Stepping into your authentic self is crucial for personal growth and connection with your child. Societal expectations can be suffocating; breaking free from them allows for genuine self-expression. Your story and journey as a mother are valid, and they matter to the world. Stop following what other moms are doing, that's their path to walk, not yours. You have a different path and that is OK, that is the beauty of this life. Notable Quotes:  "You should not live under the expectations of what you think motherhood should be; create your own path." "When you finally are able to remove that mask...it’s like a breath of fresh air." Journal Prompt: Reflect on a time when you felt pressure to conform to societal expectations as a parent. How did it affect you? What steps can you take to embrace your authentic self and redefine what being a good mom means to you? Free Journal PDF Download  Affirmation: I am enough as a mother. 12: Release the Pressure of Expectations: The Blue Halloween Bucket Dilemma

I believe that as moms we often place unnecessary expectations on ourselves. Take the blue halloween bucket for example, do you feel the pressure to purchase one for your child, just because society said it was a good idea? If you had a special needs child who fit the description for this halloween bucket idea but your child wanted a green bucket instead, which color would you buy for them? It’s important for us as moms to be aware of the expectations we set on ourselves and to question where those expectations are coming from and whether or not they are helpful. Key Takeaways: - Challenge Expectations: Question the unspoken parenting rules you feel pressured to follow and release any expectations that complicate your parenting journey. - Manage Stress: Reframe the way you approach challenging situations by asking, "What if this isn’t as hard as I’m imagining?" This can significantly reduce self-imposed stress and anxiety. - Focus on Compassion: Lead your decisions with love and compassion towards your child’s unique needs, creating a more enjoyable parenting experience. - Redefine Success in Parenting: Shift your definition of successful parenting from strict adherence to rules to fostering happiness and connection with your child. Celebrate small victories and unique moments together. - Challenge Peer Pressure: Recognize the influence of peers and social media on your parenting choices. Trust your instincts and your family dynamics instead of comparing yourself to others. Quotes: "Instead of letting pressure and expectations weigh me down, I can flip them into fuel for positive action."  "Every family, every child, and every home life is different, and it’s okay to break free from what others are telling you—or even what you’re telling yourself." Journal Prompt: Whataspects of my parenting do I feel are influenced by others' expectations? How can I redefine my own standards for success in this role? Affirmation: I trust my instincts and intuition as a parent, releasing the heavy burden of others’ opinions.   Resources: ·  Reclaim Your Time- Secret Podcast and Workbook for Special Needs Moms ·  Free- Time Hacks PDF ·  Free-Self-Care Rituals Guide PDF ·  Yoga Flow for Power and Confidence
