49: Beyond Earthing: 3 Powerful Grounding Strategies for Airway Breakthroughs
In this experiential episode, Karindy breaks down the real meaning of grounding and why it may be the missing piece behind airway issues, chronic tension, and stalled therapy outcomes. This isn’t just about “earthing.” You’ll discover three powerful types of grounding—through the earth, the body, and human connection—and how they directly impact the nervous system, learning, and healing. If your patients are overwhelmed, compensating, or stuck… this episode will change how you see everything. In this episode, you’ll learn: What grounding actually is (and where it comes from) How nervous system regulation impacts therapy outcomes The connection between tension patterns (like jaw clenching) and compensation Why patients need regulation to learn and integrate new skills How co-regulation and practitioner presence influence healing Simple grounding strategies you can use immediately Why it matters: When patients are dysregulated, progress is limited. Grounding provides a physiological pathway to regulation, improving engagement, reducing tension, and enhancing results—for both patients and providers. 🔗 Learn more + access free resources: myohackerslp.com 📲 Follow Karindy on Instagram: @myohackerslp Credits: The Myohacker Podcast is hosted by Karindy Ong, MA, CCC-SLP and edited by Allison Massengale. 47: The Missing Link in Myofunctional Therapy: Trauma, Patterns, & Connection
In this special solo episode, Karindy explores how trauma, both physical and emotional, can be stored in the body, creating protective patterns that limit healing. Through clinical insights and a powerful story from her beta program, Karindy shows how awareness of these patterns can unlock transformation for both patients and providers. You’ll go behind the scenes of her upcoming provider training, and hear how she approaches the body through layers of connection - movement, breathing, development, and compensation - to uncover what’s truly driving dysfunction, and how subtle imbalances can ripple through the entire system. This episode is an invitation to slow down, observe differently, and bring clinical intuition into your work. 46: Whole-Body Support for Infant Feeding Success
This episode focuses on clinical intuition in feeding & oral motor therapy, using a detailed infant case study to illustrate how providers can move beyond symptom-based care and into a whole-body, systems-based approach. Karindy explains how clinicians should think in layers (like tracing paper) - from structure to soft tissue to systemic processes - and how dysfunction in one area (like movement patterns or tension) can cascade into feeding, breathing, and digestion challenges. The case study highlights a 4-month-old infant with feeding and weight gain issues, demonstrating how collaboration, movement-based support, and oral-motor coordination can transform outcomes without escalating to more invasive interventions. In episode 38 of the MyoHacker Podcast, Karindy speaks with Kelley Rubio, BS, RDH, QOM founder of My Myo My Health about the intersection of myofunctional therapy, women’s health, hormones, and airway-centered care. They explore how hormonal shifts during pregnancy, perimenopause, and midlife influence oral health, TMJ symptoms, breathing patterns, sleep quality, and nervous system regulation. The conversation highlights how myofunctional therapy and breathing techniques can support women experiencing stress, anxiety, jaw tension, and airway challenges during hormonal transitions. Kelly highlights the importance of self-care, education, and community support in women’s health, encouraging women to advocate for their bodies, seek answers, and take an active role in their long-term wellness. 10: Sensory Integration for Picky Eating and Feeding Problems with Nat Udwin
Summary In Episode #10 of The Myohacker Podcast, Speech Therapist Karindy Ong interviews Occupational Therapist Nat Udwin about the critical role of sensory integration in feeding therapy for children. They explore the importance of understanding the sensory system, the impact of sensory stimulation and play in feeding therapy, and strategies for navigating transitions for children with sensory needs. Nat shares insights on when & how to seek professional help, the connection between primitive reflexes and child development, and the importance of real-life experiences for setting a foundation of sensory motor development in children. If you are wondering why crossing midline is a big deal or why being ambidextrous may be holding back your child in the long run, this episode is for you.
