Uncommon Christianity
by peternunz1955
Uncommon Christianity is a podcast devoted to calling believers back to the faith once delivered to the saints.Over time, much of what is called Christianity today has drifted in doctrine, in sanctification, and in spiritual conviction. In many places, biblical truth has been softened, redefined, or replaced with ideas that are more acceptable to culture than faithful to Christ. The purpose of this podcast is not to create something new, but to return to what is original. To the teachings of Christ and His apostles. To apostolic doctrine. To a life shaped by truth, holiness, and obedience to the will of God.Uncommon Christianity seeks to examine Scripture carefully, speak honestly, and encourage believers to live as those who belong wholly to Jesus Christ, not merely in profession, but in practice. These conversations are recorded and shared to strengthen faith, clarify truth, and call the Church back to a Christianity that is uncommon in the world, but faithful to Christ.

The Pope and the Gospel: Why Christ Needs No Substitute E090•2026
In this episode of Uncommon Christianity, we address a critical and often misunderstood issue in the Christian world today — the role of the pope and the claims of the papacy. As global tensions rise and religious voices enter political conversations, many assume that the pope speaks with unique authority on behalf of Christ. But is that idea supported by the New Testament? Opening the Scriptures, we examine what Jesus and the apostles actually taught about authority, mediation, and access to God. With clarity and conviction, this episode confronts the question: does any man have the right to stand as the representative of Christ on earth? From the headship of Christ to the truth that there is only one mediator between God and man, we return to the simplicity of the gospel — salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. This is not an attack on people, but a call back to truth. A call back to Christ. And a reminder that He alone is enough.

How Should Christians Think About Voting? E088•2026
In this episode of Uncommon Christianity, we take a clear and biblical look at a question many believers struggle with: Should Christians vote? While America is not the Kingdom of God, we still live in a world where leadership affects everyday life, the stability of society, and even the environment in which the gospel is preached. So how should we think about our role? Drawing from passages like 1 Timothy 2, Romans 13, and Jeremiah 29, we explore the command to pray for those in authority, and what that means in practical terms. If we are praying for conditions that allow us to live quiet and peaceable lives in all godliness and honesty, should that shape how we think when we have the opportunity to participate? This is not about political parties or placing hope in men. It is about thinking as Christians, discerning direction, and acting with a clear conscience in a fallen world. We are not choosing a savior. We are walking in responsibility.

“Genesis 6 Exposed:The Truth About Angels, Sons of God, and a Dangerous Misunderstanding” E083•2026
Did angels really reproduce with human women in Genesis 6… or has this idea come from outside the Bible? In this Scripture-centered episode of Uncommon Christianity, we carefully examine Genesis 6, the words of Jesus, Job, Jude, and more to uncover what the Bible actually teaches about angels, the “sons of God,” and God’s created order. By allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture, we address the major objections—including the use of “sons of God” in Job and the influence of the Book of Enoch—and bring the focus back to what Genesis 6 truly emphasizes: the corruption of man, not the crossing of kinds. If you’ve wrestled with the Nephilim or the mystery of this passage, this episode will bring clarity, stability, and confidence in the Word of God. THE TRUE HEAD OF THE CHURCH - E077•2026
As Easter approaches, much of the world turns its attention to Rome, the Vatican, and the Pope as the visible authority of Christianity. But is this what Jesus actually established? In this episode of Uncommon Christianity, we step back from tradition and examine the claims of the papacy in the light of Scripture. Did Christ build His Church on Peter as a supreme earthly head, or is the foundation something far greater? We explore how the early Church was transformed after Constantine, how imperial structure began to shape religious authority, and why the idea of a visible head of the Church on earth does not align with the pattern of the apostles. Most importantly, we return to the central truth revealed by the Father Himself: that the Church is built upon the revelation of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. This is not about attacking people, but about calling all of us back to the simplicity that is in Christ. Jesus did not leave us dependent on a man, a system, or a throne. He gave us Himself. And the testimony of Scripture is clear: Christ alone is the Head of the Church.

The Love of the Truth: The Only Safety Against Deception E076•2026
What is the greatest danger in the time we are living in? Jesus answered it plainly: “Take heed that no man deceive you.” In this episode, we follow that warning through the New Testament — from Jesus, to Paul, Peter, John, and Revelation — all pointing to one central truth: deception will increase, and it will be powerful. But who will stand? Paul gives the answer: “Because they received not the love of the truth…” Truth being present is not enough. Hearing it is not enough. Even knowing it is not enough. Only those who love the truth are protected from deception. This is not just a teaching — it is a call to examine our hearts. Do we know the truth… or do we truly love it? THE PLACE HE PREPARED — WHAT JESUS REALLY MEANT (JOHN 13–17) E075•2026
What did Jesus really mean when He said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions”? For many of us, this has been understood as a promise of heavenly homes… a place we will one day go. But what if that is not what Jesus was saying at all? In this episode, we walk carefully through John chapters 13 through 17, staying with the words of Jesus Himself, allowing Him to define His own meaning. What unfolds is not a promise of future buildings… but a revelation of something far greater. Jesus was not preparing a place for us in heaven. He was opening the way for us to be brought into the Father. Through His death, resurrection, and the giving of the Spirit, we are not waiting to arrive someday… we are being brought into union with God now. This episode challenges long held assumptions and calls us back to the simplicity that is in Christ… where eternal life is not about where we go, but where we are brought… in Him. “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above…” (Colossians 3:1) Join us as we rediscover what it truly means to dwell in God… and God in us. The Book of Revelation — Seeing Jesus in Every Chapter E074•2026
The book of Book of Revelation has often been treated as a mystery to decode, a timeline to analyze, or a warning to fear. Many have focused on beasts, judgments, and end-time events, and in doing so, have missed the very thing the book declares from the beginning. “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” In this episode, we walk through Revelation chapter by chapter, not to build a system, but to recover its true purpose — to see Jesus Christ revealed. From His unveiled glory in chapter 1… to His heart toward His church in chapters 2 and 3… to the throne and the Lamb in chapters 4 and 5… to the unfolding of all things under His authority… to His final appearing as King of kings… and the ultimate restoration where we see His face… This book does not take our eyes off of Christ. It fixes them on Him. If you’ve ever felt confused by Revelation, or overwhelmed by different teachings, this episode will bring you back to the simplicity that is in Christ. The True Value of a Friend E073•2026
What is a true friend… really? In this episode of Uncommon Christianity, we go beyond surface ideas of friendship and uncover the biblical meaning of what it means to be a friend. Is friendship just emotion, shared history, or frequent communication… or is it something deeper that remains even when time and distance intervene? Drawing from Proverbs, the life of Abraham, the relationship of Moses with God, and the words of the Lord Jesus Christ in John 15, we discover that a friend is not defined by proximity… but by a constant love that does not change. “A friend loveth at all times.” This episode explores: The true biblical definition of a friend Why real friendship is not dependent on time, distance, or circumstance What it means that Abraham was called the friend of God How Jesus defines friendship through love, obedience, and revelation Why the greatest question is not if we have friends… but if we are one If this ministry has been a blessing to you, you can support the work through: Zelle: [email protected] PayPal: paypal.me/guardiansoftruth

A Personal Reflection on the “Set Man” Leadership System - E046• 2026
In this episode, I share a personal reflection from my own journey in ministry about a leadership philosophy that is common in many churches today, often called the “set man” system. For many years I believed and supported this model, which teaches that just as Moses was set over Israel, God sets one man over the church as the central authority. But as I continued to study the New Testament carefully, I began to see that this structure is not revealed in the apostolic pattern of the church. In this teaching, I explain how this leadership model is often built by borrowing examples from Old Testament figures such as Moses and David, even though these men ultimately served as prophetic shadows pointing to Jesus Christ, not as templates for modern church leadership. We will look at what the New Testament actually reveals about leadership in the church, why the apostles consistently established a plurality of elders rather than a single dominant leader, and why the church must guard against systems that elevate personalities instead of honoring Christ as the true Head of His church. This episode is both a personal testimony and a biblical challenge to return to the simple pattern of leadership revealed in the Scriptures.

True Spiritual Authority in the Church: episode 5- Elders, Bishops, and Deacons: -E045• 2026
In this episode, we take a careful look at what the New Testament actually says about elders, bishops, and deacons in the church. Instead of beginning with explanations or traditions, we begin by reading the key passages of Scripture that describe how leadership functioned in the early church. Once we hear the Word of God together, we step back and examine what these verses reveal about spiritual oversight, the qualifications for leaders, and the pattern the apostles established for the care of God's people. What we discover is a leadership model rooted not in hierarchy or personality, but in spiritual maturity, character, shared responsibility, and faithful stewardship of the church that Christ purchased with His own blood. True Spiritual Authority in the Church: E04 -A Conversation Every Believer Needs to Hear: E044• 2026
Before continuing our series on spiritual authority in the church, I want to pause and speak about something very important. Over the centuries the church has developed structures and systems that often look very different from the pattern we see in the New Testament. In this episode we step back and honestly examine how the church came to look the way it does today, and whether we may need to return again to the simplicity that is in Christ. True Spiritual Authority in the Church: episode 3 - The Pastor: -E043• 2026
The Pastor: God's Heart for Shepherding His People In this episode we explore the biblical role of the pastor and what true shepherding looks like according to the New Testament. In many churches today the pastor has become a professional position shaped by institutions, boards, and organizational systems. But the Scriptures present a very different picture. Pastors are not produced by human systems. They are gifts given by Christ to care for His people. Together we will examine what the Bible teaches about shepherding the flock of God, the responsibility to feed the church with truth, and the danger of leadership that becomes focused on reputation, numbers, and finances rather than the spiritual health of God's people. We will also look at the New Testament pattern of shared pastoral care among elders, and why shepherding was never meant to be confined to a single weekly message from one individual. Finally we will consider God's promise in Jeremiah that He will raise up pastors after His own heart who will feed His people with knowledge and understanding. This episode is part of the series True Spiritual Authority in the Church, where we are rediscovering the ministries Christ gave to build and strengthen His church.

True Spiritual Authority in the Church: episode two - The Prophet -E042 2026
In this episode we examine the role of the prophet in the New Testament Church. What is the difference between the gift of prophecy that can operate among believers and the office of a prophet that Christ gave to the Church? Looking at passages from 1 Corinthians, Acts, and Ephesians, we explore how prophetic ministry functioned in the early Church and how it relates to the apostolic foundation upon which the Church was built. This discussion helps us understand both the value of prophetic ministry and the safeguards Scripture gives so that the Church remains anchored to Christ and the truth already revealed in His Word. True Spiritual Authority in the Church: episode one - What Is an Apostle? -E040• 2026
In this opening episode we begin examining the ministry gifts that Christ gave to His Church. The first gift listed in Ephesians 4:11 is the apostle. Yet today the word has become either misunderstood or misused. Some reject the idea of apostles entirely, while others claim the title without understanding the biblical meaning. So what is an apostle according to the New Testament? In this episode we return to the Scriptures to look at the apostolic ministry as it functioned in the early Church. We will explore the difference between the original apostles who were eyewitnesses of the resurrection and the broader apostolic ministry that Christ continues to give for the building of His Church. We will examine how apostles were sent by Christ, how they laid spiritual foundations, and how their authority was never about control or titles but about serving the purpose of God for the body of Christ. When we understand the apostolic ministry correctly, we begin to see how Christ Himself continues to build His Church through the gifts He has given. When “Prophecy” Fails: A Personal Story the Church Needs to Hear -E041• 2026
For nearly fifty years Peter watched prophetic words spoken over his life that never came to pass. In this deeply personal episode he shares two early experiences that shaped his understanding of the prophetic movement in the church, and the lessons he learned over decades of watching those words fade into time. This testimony raises an important question for believers today: how should we respond when someone claims to speak for God? In the next episode we will turn to the Scriptures to examine what the New Testament actually teaches about prophets and the prophetic ministry.

The Church and Her Calling – Episode 9: Anchored for His Appearing , E020• 2026
In this concluding episode of The Church and Her Calling, we gather everything we have studied — the Church’s identity, maturity, endurance, and corporate calling — and anchor it in the prayer of Jesus in John 17. Christ did not pray that His people would be taken out of the world, but that they would be kept from the evil. From that foundation, we walk through the New Testament to see how Scripture consistently presents a Church that endures, overcomes, and stands faithful at His appearing. This is not a call to escape history, but to be sanctified, preserved, and ready when He is revealed. The Church and Her Calling – Episode 8: The Opposition to the Church’s Calling , E019• 2026
If the Church truly belongs to Christ, she will face resistance. In this episode, we widen the lens and examine the systemic opposition confronting the Church today. Spiritual warfare. False doctrine. Religious systems that preserve form while losing life. Cultural pressure that seeks to redefine truth. Persecution in subtle and overt forms. And the quiet danger of internal corruption. This is not a message of fear, but of discernment. The Church’s conflict does not signal failure. It confirms calling. And when we understand the nature of the opposition, we are better prepared to stand in truth, holiness, and unity. The gates of hell resist — but they do not prevail. The Church and Her Calling – Episode 7: The Corporate Expression of Christ , E018• 2026
In this episode, we examine what Scripture truly reveals about the Church as the living Body of Christ. From Ephesians 4, 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12, and the prayer of Jesus in John 17, we explore one body, one Spirit, and one shared life. This is not organizational unity. It is relational unity flowing from Christ Himself. We will see how diversity functions without division, how every member supplies, and how the goal of ministry is maturity into the fulness of Christ. If the Church is His visible expression in the earth, then her unity is not optional — it is divinely intended. The Church and Her Calling – Episode 6: Manifesting Christ in a Hostile Environment , E017• 2026
In this episode, we move from defining what it means to walk in the Spirit to examining what that walk produces. If we are truly living from the revealed Word of God, there will be visible evidence. We focus on three defining marks of a Spirit governed life: humility, love, and stability — and we expose the forces that attempt to distort them. Where the Spirit produces humility, the enemy promotes self exaltation. Where the Spirit produces sincere love, the enemy offers counterfeit division. Where the Spirit establishes stability, the enemy stirs reaction and fear. Christ cannot be dethroned, but His expression can be obscured. The question is simple: What is being manifested through us? A State of the Church Address “What Is Christ Actually Building?” E017• 2026
In this heartfelt and searching address, we step back and examine a serious question: When Jesus said, “I will build my church,” what did He mean? Christ did not redeem His people merely to gather weekly, nor to remain in perpetual spiritual infancy waiting for the next breakthrough moment. He poured out His Spirit and gave gifts to the Church for one purpose: growth, maturity, unity, and the full stature of Christ formed in His people. Are we being developed into functioning members of His Body? Or are we being kept in a cycle of anticipation without transformation? This episode is not an attack. It is an invitation. An invitation to look honestly at the current state of the Church. An invitation to examine ourselves. An invitation to return to Christ’s original objective: a mature, united people through whom the Kingdom is manifested. Not mystical impressions, but obedience to the revealed Word of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Church and Her Calling – Episode 4: Who We Are: The Identity That Defines Our Walk, E015• 2026
Before we can walk worthy of our calling, we must understand who we are. In this episode of The Church and Her Calling, Peter continues building the foundation by exploring the identity of the Church from Scripture. The Church is not a building, a denomination, or a human institution. She is the called out ones, the Body of Christ, the dwelling place of the Spirit, the family of God, the Bride of Christ, and the pillar and ground of the truth. Understanding who we are shapes how we live. When identity is clear, conduct follows. This episode lays the groundwork for the practical call to walk worthy of our calling in Christ. The Church and Her Calling – Episode 3 Expressing Christ and Walking Worthy, E014• 2026
In this episode of The Church and Her Calling, we unite two essential truths. The Church exists to express Christ and reveal the wisdom of God according to His eternal purpose. But this calling is not abstract theology. It demands personal identification and faithful obedience. Rooted in Christ as the Builder and Keeper of His Church, and anchored in Ephesians 4, this episode explores what it means to walk worthy of our vocation. We examine identity, unity, maturity, endurance, and the seriousness of belonging to the body of Christ. This is not something we attend. It is who we are.

Why One Believes and Another Does Not E013• 2026
In this episode, we answer a question that has shaped centuries of theological debate: If two people hear the same gospel and only one believes, why? Is the difference an eternal decree, or does Scripture give us another explanation? We walk carefully through the words of Jesus, the apostles, and the broader testimony of Scripture. Looking closely at the Parable of the Sower, Matthew 13, John 3, Romans 10, and more, we examine what the Bible actually says about hearing, believing, resisting, and responding to truth. This is not a philosophical discussion. It is a biblical one. Our aim is simple: to let Scripture speak clearly, honestly, and in context.

The Church and Her Calling: Episode 2, What She Is and What She Is Not E012• 2026
In Episode 1, we introduced the foundation of this series by affirming that the Church is part of God’s eternal purpose. We briefly touched on what the Church is and why her identity matters. In this episode, we slow down and expound that truth. What does Scripture actually mean by “the Church”? Is it a building, an institution, or something far deeper? We examine the biblical meaning of the Church as the called out ones, the living body of Christ, born through the Spirit and belonging entirely to Him. Before we can understand the Church’s calling, we must clearly understand her identity. This episode lays that groundwork, clarifying what the Church is not, and reaffirming what she truly is in the heart and purpose of God.

The Church and Her Calling: Episode One, Why the Church Exists E011• 2026
In this opening episode of The Church and Her Calling, we lay the foundation for the entire series. What is the Church? Why does she exist? Is she a religious institution, a gathering of like minded people, or something eternal in the heart of God? Before we can discuss her mission, structure, or function, we must understand her origin. The Church was not man’s idea. She was born in the eternal purpose of God, secured by the blood of Christ, and brought to life by the Spirit. This episode establishes the premise for everything that follows.

Election, Regeneration, and the Gospel : A Biblical Response to TULIP E010• 2026
In this episode, we conclude our study on election, foreknowledge, and predestination by examining the claims of Calvinism and the TULIP system in light of Scripture. Does regeneration precede faith? Are sinners unable to respond to the gospel unless first made alive? Is grace irresistible? We walk through Ephesians, Titus, John, and Acts to examine what the apostles actually taught about election, human responsibility, and the order of salvation. Salvation is not rooted in arbitrary decree, but in God’s eternal purpose in Christ. And Scripture consistently presents faith as the means by which we receive life. This episode brings clarity to the subject and brings the focus back where it belongs — on Christ and the gospel.

What God Determined Before the Foundation of the World E009• 2026
In this episode, we move from Paul’s teaching in Romans into Ephesians 1 to examine election, foreknowledge, and predestination as Scripture presents them. Rather than an arbitrary selection of individuals, Paul reveals God’s eternal purpose centered in Christ. Before the foundation of the world, God determined that salvation would be found in His Son and that all who are in Christ would share in redemption, adoption, and inheritance. This teaching clarifies who the “us” is in Ephesians, how Jew and Gentile are made one in Christ, and why Scripture consistently speaks in terms of “whosoever will believe.” Election is not about secret decrees. Election is about God’s redemptive plan in Christ.

Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved? | Part 7 E008• 2026
In this concluding episode of Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved?, we examine Romans chapter 11, where Paul answers the final and pressing question: Has God rejected Israel? Paul’s answer is unmistakable. God has not cast away His people. Israel’s stumbling is partial and temporary, Gentiles are grafted in by faith, and God’s mercy remains central to His redemptive plan. Romans 11 reveals that God’s purposes have not failed, His calling remains intact, and mercy, not pride or speculation, is the proper response. Paul ends not with argument, but with worship, pointing us to the depth of God’s wisdom and faithfulness.

Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved? | Part 6 E007• 2026
In this episode of Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved?, we turn to Romans chapter 10, where Paul emphasizes human responsibility and the necessity of faith. After explaining God’s purpose in Romans 9, Paul now makes clear that salvation is not automatic, inherited, or imposed. Romans 10 shows that Israel’s problem was not lack of opportunity, but refusal to submit to righteousness by faith. Christ was preached, the word was near, and the invitation was sincere. This chapter highlights the heart of the gospel: faith comes by hearing, salvation is available to all who call upon the name of the Lord, and God’s mercy is genuinely offered to both Jew and Gentile.

Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved? | Part 5| E006 • 2026
In this episode of Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved?, we focus exclusively on Romans chapter 9. This chapter is often treated as a standalone text and used to support conclusions about salvation that Paul is not making. Romans 9 is not about God arbitrarily deciding individual destinies. It is Paul’s defense of the faithfulness of God in light of Israel’s unbelief. Paul explains how God’s promises have always operated according to divine purpose and mercy, not ethnicity or works. By reading Romans 9 in its historical and biblical context, we see that election is about God’s right to carry forward His redemptive plan, while salvation itself remains grounded in faith and mercy.

13
Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved? | Part 4 | E005 • 2026
In this episode of Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved?, we step back and examine the flow of Paul’s argument in Romans chapters 1 through 8 before moving into Romans 9, 10, and 11. Paul is not building a system of determinism. He is laying the foundation for understanding sin, grace, justification by faith, life in the Spirit, and the unshakable assurance believers have in Christ. This overview shows why Romans 9–11 does not stand alone, but grows directly out of what Paul has already established about God’s purpose, God’s character, and the role of faith. Without this context, Romans 9–11 is often misunderstood. With it, Paul’s argument becomes clear, consistent, and faithful to the character of God revealed throughout Scripture.

Does God Determine Who Will Be Saved? | Part 3 | E004 • 2026
The Seed of the Woman and the Foundation of Paul’s Argument Before opening the book of Romans, and especially before examining Romans chapters 9, 10, and 11, it is essential to understand the premise Paul is working from. In this episode, we step back to the beginning and follow the biblical revelation of the seed of promise, starting in the garden and moving through redemptive history to the birth of Jesus Christ. Scripture reveals that history is governed not by human achievement, but by God’s preservation of the Seed the woman’s Seed who would crush the serpent and bring life to the world. We explore the meaning of “seed” in Scripture, the division of humanity into two lines in Adam and in Christ, the role of Mary as the true bloodline of David, the legal role of Joseph, and why the virgin conception was necessary for the fulfillment of God’s promise. Along the way, we allow the New Testament, especially the writings of Paul, to interpret the Old Testament promises clearly and consistently. This teaching lays the groundwork for understanding Paul’s discussion of election, history, and God’s purpose in Romans. Without this foundation, Romans is easily misunderstood. With it, Paul’s argument becomes coherent, faithful to Scripture, and anchored in God’s eternal plan revealed from the beginning.

Does God determine who will be saved? In this series, we are examining election and predestination by first establishing who God truly is. Is salvation entirely predetermined by God, or does the response of the individual matter? In this series, we examine election and predestination through Scripture, beginning with who God is. Part 1 establishes the foundation by focusing on God’s character, His righteousness, and His goodness, which must frame any biblical understanding of election.
