The Lie You Built Your Life On

Who told you that you weren’t good enough?Who told you that you were bad, too much, not enough, too far gone, or incapable of becoming who God created you to be?In this episode of The Growth Lounge, I’m unpacking the quiet agreements many of us make with lies spoken over us, experiences that shaped us, and shame that was never meant to name us.I’m sharing a deeply personal reflection from a moment in my own life when I was packing to go to rehab, feeling helpless and unsure of what came next. That moment did not come out of nowhere. Addiction did not come out of nowhere. The patterns we live in do not come out of nowhere. There is always a thing behind the thing.Together, we’ll explore how the way we relate to ourselves directly impacts our circumstances, relationships, healing, and legacy. This episode is an invitation to stop letting shame, fear, old wounds, or learned behaviors define you, and to begin rebuilding your life on who God says you are.In this episode, we talk about:The “who told you?” question and why it mattersHow old agreements become patterns, behaviors, and circumstancesThe difference between dealing with symptoms and healing at the rootWhy learned behaviors are not your identityHow shame leads us to hide, but God invites us into truthWhat it means to rebuild your life on God’s voice instead of old woundsReflection question:What agreement have you been living under because believing it once felt safe?Call to action:If this episode spoke to you, take a screenshot, share it to your stories, and tag me. And if you’re ready to stop circling the same mountain and start healing at the root, send me a message with the word ROOT.Instagram: @jessicaphillipscoFacebook: jessicaphillipscoWebsite: www.jessicaphillips.co

Keeping the Peace Is Costing You More Than You Think

In this episode of The Growth Lounge, I’m digging into something I believe so many women are feeling but not always saying out loud:You are not actually afraid of change. You are afraid of what that change might disrupt.Maybe it looks like hesitation.Maybe it sounds like “I just need more clarity,” “I’m going to pray about it,” or “I’ll start when things settle down.”But underneath that is often a deeper fear:What happens if I really change? What happens to my marriage, my family, my relationships, or the role I’ve always played? In this conversation, I unpack how so many of us learned early on that keeping the peace felt safer than being fully expressed. That pattern can follow us into adulthood as shrinking, over-giving, over-explaining, and staying small enough not to rock the boat. But familiar does not always mean aligned. And peace does not come from keeping everything the same.Real peace comes from being honest about what is true.I also share pieces of my own story, what this looked like in my marriage, and why I believe growth does not always mean something is falling apart. Sometimes it means your life and relationships are being invited into a new level. That can feel tender, stretched, and messy, but that does not mean you are doing it wrong. We talk about:Why the fear of change is often really a fear of losing connection. How peacekeeping becomes a survival pattern. What the messy middle actually looks like in real life. Why familiar is not always the same as healthy or aligned. How faith anchors us when growth feels disruptive. Why “I’m going to pray about it” can sometimes be fear dressed up as faith. How root-level healing helps you understand where these patterns came from so you can finally change in a grounded, sustainable way. This episode is an invitation to get radically honest with yourself.Where have you been shrinking to keep the peace? And is that actually creating peace… or just preventing growth? You are not selfish for growing. You are not wrong for wanting more. And you do not have to quit in the middle. If this episode speaks to you, send me a message, comment ROOT, or connect with me. I’d love to talk with you about what it could look like to heal this at the root and step into the next version of who you were created to be.Instagram: @jessicaphillipscoFacebook: jessicaphillipscoWebsite: www.jessicaphillips.co

    Self Help Didn’t Heal Me

In this episode, Jessica gets real about the difference between surface-level self-help and true root healing. She shares how affirmations, routines, journaling, boundaries, and mindset tools helped take the lid off… but they did not heal what was underneath. This conversation goes deeper into what actually keeps women stuck in the same patterns year after year, even when they are doing “all the right things.” Jessica unpacks how childhood agreements, emotional protection patterns, unhealed wounds, and identity-level beliefs can keep running the show in adulthood. She also shares why the 180 Method is different. This is not about performing better while still hurting underneath. This is about surrender.Awareness.Ownership.Inviting God into the places behavior alone cannot reach. And healing at the root.If you have ever wondered why the habits, plans, diets, discipline, and self-help tools have only taken you so far, this episode will help you understand why.In this episode, we talk about:What the messy middle really looks likeWhy self-help tools can help, but still fall shortThe difference between managing symptoms and healing at the rootHow childhood protection patterns still show up in adulthoodWhy your behavior is the fruit, not the rootWhat it means to do a true 180 instead of another 360The role of surrender, awareness, and ownership in healingWhy inviting God into the process changes everythingReflection questions:What agreement am I still living under that no longer fits who I am becoming?Where have I been trying to manage symptoms instead of heal the root?Where am I still hiding, and where do I need to let God in? Healing Begins Where Hiding Ends

In this episode of The Growth Lounge, I’m talking about what it really looks like to let God into the hidden parts of us. Not just the polished places. Not just the parts we let everyone else see. The real parts. The scared parts. The over-functioning parts. The parts that still believe hiding is what keeps us safe. I share how hiding does not always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like productivity, people pleasing, overworking, control, serving everyone else, or staying so busy that we never slow down long enough to hear what is really going on underneath. I talk about the protection patterns we learned when we were younger, why they made sense then, and why they can quietly start limiting our relationships, joy, peace, growth, and capacity to hold the life God is calling us into now. I also open up about my own pattern with weight loss and how, in the past, I lost the weight but could not hold that version of myself because I had not done the deeper healing work. I share why healing is not about perfection, performance, or fixing yourself for God. It is about being honest enough to let Him meet you in the messy middle and letting His presence into the places shame has kept covered. This episode is an invitation to stop asking, “What is wrong with me?” and start asking better questions. What am I hiding? What is this behavior protecting? What old agreement am I still living under? And what would it look like to let God into that place, specifically and honestly, so real healing can begin? If this episode speaks to you, I want you to sit with this question all week:Where am I still hiding, and what would it look like to let God see that place?Instagram: @jessicaphillipscoFacebook: jessicaphillipscoWebsite: www.jessicaphillips.coWant inspiration delivered right to your email. The Thing Behind the Thing: The Story Under the Struggle

Today’s episode is personal. This is not a conversation from the finish line.It is from the middle. In this episode, I’m sharing about the thing behind the thing. For a long time, I thought my weight was the issue. The hold-up. The reason I did not feel fully free, fully confident, or fully at peace in my own skin. But what I’ve been uncovering is this:It was never just about the weight. It was about the thing behind the thing. It was about what I made my weight mean about me.What I believed about myself. What I had attached to my body. What I was carrying underneath the visible struggle all along. In this episode, we talk about: • why fixing the outside did not bring the peace I thought it would • the deeper meaning I attached to my weight • how early beliefs and hidden agreements get formed • why shame quietly shapes the way so many women live • and why healing starts when we stop only addressing the visible struggle and tell the truth about what is underneath itAnd maybe for you, it is not weight.Maybe it is your marriage.Your body.Your business.Your parenting.Your health.Your fear.Your waiting.Whatever the struggle is on the outside, there may be a thing behind the thing that still needs your attention.A question to carry with you as you listen:What have I been making my struggle mean about me?If this episode speaks to you, share it with a friend and come tell me what landed. If you’d like to discover what ‘the thing under the thing’ is for you, I invite you to schedule a discovery call with me here: https://jessicaphillips.co/book-a-free-callInstagram: @jessicaphillipscoFacebook: jessicaphillipscoWebsite: www.jessicaphillips.co

Do Not Quit in the Messy Middle

We need to talk about the part of the story most people leave out.Not the before. Not the after. The middle. The messy, stretching, humbling, holy in-between where you are trying, learning, healing, praying, wondering, and sometimes wanting to quit because it feels like everybody else got their breakthrough faster than you.In this solo episode, Jessica shares why more women need to tell the truth about the real journey, not just the polished outcome. Because when all we see is someone’s point A and point B, it is easy to believe our own middle means we are failing. But the middle is not failure. It is formation. It is process. It is where so much of the real work happens.Jessica also opens up about how hard it was to bring her family into her own journey, why being seen in process can feel so vulnerable, and how accountability and support can become part of the healing when you let safe people in.If you have ever felt behind, frustrated with yourself, ashamed that it is taking longer than you thought, or tempted to compare your middle to someone else’s finished story, this episode is for you.You are not behind. You are not broken. You are not alone. And the messy middle does not get the final word.God does.I'd love to know if this episode spoke to you. Choosing to Stay: Marriage, Growth, and Real-Life Communication

What do you do when marriage feels stretched, the day is stressful, and real life is happening in real time?In this episode of The Growth Lounge, Jessica and Chad bring you into a real, honest, lightly humorous conversation from the middle of one of those kinds of days. They talk about why they intentionally take two months away each year, what that time means for their marriage, and how they use it to reflect, reset, and plan for the year ahead so they can show up better together. This conversation also ties together the heart of the previous episodes. It is about learning the art of communication, making room for both togetherness and alone time, and understanding that growth in marriage is not something to fear. When one person grows, it does not have to mean the relationship is falling apart. It can mean something good is unfolding.Jessica and Chad also talk honestly about choosing to stay even in seasons when they both had reasons they could have left. This episode is a reminder that strong marriages are not built by accident. They are built through curiosity, communication, grace, and the decision to keep showing up when things are hard.If you are navigating stress, personal growth, or a hard season in your relationship, this episode will encourage you to lean in and keep going.Instagram: @jessicaphillipscoFacebook: jessicaphillipscoWebsite: www.jessicaphillips.coThoughts to ponder:Where might God be inviting me to get curious instead of uncomfortable in this season of marriage? What would it look like for me to communicate more honestly and love more intentionally right now?How can I show up better in my marriage in this next season instead of just hoping things change on their own?I am cheering for you!

Marriage Growth: Reconnecting When Life Gets Busy, Kids, Work, and the Slow Fade

Welcome back to The Growth Lounge and part three of our Love and Marriage series. In this episode, Chad and I talk about marriage growth and reconnecting when life gets busy. Many couples experience what we call the slow fade. Not because love disappears, but because raising kids, managing schedules, and the business of everyday life slowly pulls attention away from the relationship. If you are searching for marriage advice, ways to reconnect in your marriage, or how couples stay close while raising a family, this conversation will resonate. We share how drift can happen quietly over time when couples move into survival mode. Running kids to activities, working long hours, and simply trying to keep food on the table can slowly replace intentional connection. One of the biggest things we learned is that growth inside a marriage matters. When one person begins growing emotionally or spiritually it can feel uncomfortable or even scary for the other partner. But healthy relationships allow space for both people to keep growing and becoming. In this episode we discuss:• Why many couples experience the slow fade during busy parenting years• How personal growth inside a marriage can create both tension and renewal• Why marriage is not always 50/50 and how couples support each other through different seasons• Learning to listen without trying to win the argument• How an introvert and extrovert can build a strong partnership• The importance of simple connection rhythms like family dinners, game nights, camping, and shared time togetherOne of the most powerful lessons we learned is that marriage is not about keeping score. There will be seasons where one partner has to give more because the other is stretched thin. That is not failure. That is partnership. We also talk about the simple family traditions that helped rebuild connection in our home. Many of our deepest conversations happened around the dinner table, during pizza and game nights, camping trips, and everyday moments together. If you did not grow up seeing a healthy marriage modeled, we want you to hear this clearly. You can still build something beautiful.Even if your story did not begin that way, intentional connection and personal growth can help you create a legacy your family will carry forward.Next week we close this series by talking about marriage legacy and how the work you do in your relationship shapes your children and future generations.Instagram: @jessicaphillipscoFacebook: jessicaphillipscoWebsite: www.jessicaphillips.co

Fresh out of rehab and the Navy, unexpectedly stepping into parenthood, financially strained, and emotionally immature, we were trying to build a life while still learning who we were.We talk about broken communication, damaged trust, counseling, emotional growth, and the turning point that shifted everything. Hormone Health, Low Testosterone in Women, and Why Saying Yes Can Change Your Life | Women in Wellness

We discuss why hormone testing can be an important step for women, especially as they age, and how low testosterone often goes unrecognized despite its impact on energy, mood, strength, and motivation. We also talk about diet culture and why extreme or restrictive approaches tend to disconnect women from their bodies rather than support long-term health. This episode emphasizes the value of small, realistic changes, consistency over time, and learning to pay attention to what your body is communicating. This conversation is practical, honest, and grounded. The Year I Took My Power Back: Radical Honesty, Growth, and Learning to Trust Myself

This year stretched me, shaped me, and ultimately changed me.In this episode, I’m getting real about what it actually looked like to take my power back. Not through a new planner or another quick fix, but by getting radically honest, reflecting deeply, and rebuilding trust with myself and with God.When my dad passed three years ago, I did what so many of us do when we don’t know what to do with pain... I stayed busy. I jumped into masterminds, joined coaching programs, kept moving… because slowing down felt too heavy. But last November, I finally asked God how to hold both the good and the hard memories of my dad, and that moment changed everything. He met me right there and gave me a peace I didn’t even know I was chasing.Through coaching, reflection, and a lot of uncomfortable truth-telling, I realized I had been living in a victim mindset, quietly waiting for the right time, the right feeling, the right season to start showing up differently. But here’s the truth… the power I was searching for was never out there. It was always inside of me.In this episode, I’m sharing:How radical honesty completely changed the way I grow. What it looked like to take full ownership of my life and goals. Why self-trust is the foundation of everything I’m building now.How slowing down gave me more peace than hustling ever did.Why I’m closing out this year rooted in family, presence, and purpose. If you’ve been feeling caught between who you’ve been and who you’re becoming, this one’s for you. You don’t have to wait for January to start over. You can start right now, by keeping one small promise to yourself today.I’m also sharing what’s next. Taking November and December to slow down, pour into my people, and share a few of my favorite episodes (and some surprise bonus ones) along the way.If what I share in this episode hits home and you’re ready to walk deeper into your own 180, I’d love to have you join my next group or 1:1 coaching. No filters, no applause, just real growth that lasts. The power of journaling and how writing things down moves emotions from your amygdala (emotional brain) to your prefrontal cortex (rational brain)How Christian meditation helps lower cortisol, regulate your breathing, and create space for God’s peace to enterThe science behind grounding in nature and why connecting with the earth literally calms your nervous systemHow laughter shifts your body chemistry and brings joy back into your healing journeyWhy changing your circle of influence can change your energy, mindset, and belief systemWhat it means to do the “dark work” the unseen, unglamorous, behind-the-scenes steps that build unshakable growthThis is the episode that helps you take your healing from concept to practice, from thinking about change to living it.Where do I feel “stuck” or emotionally foggy right now? What could I release through writing that I’ve been holding in my body? What does stillness feel like in my day and how can I make more space for it?Who in my circle makes me feel peaceful, supported, and spiritually grounded? What “dark work” am I avoiding because no one will see it but God?Friend, this season isn’t meant to break you, it’s meant to balance you. When you begin supporting your healing from the inside out - your body, mind, and spirit start speaking the same language. You feel lighter, clearer, and more aligned with who God created you to be.So if you’ve been walking through a funk… you’re not lost. You’re just in process.Let this be the week you slow down, journal it out, laugh a little more, step outside, and start doing the quiet work no one sees because that’s the work that changes everything. If this episode spoke to you, share it with a friend who’s in her own unbecoming season and needs a little hope today.Tag me on Instagram @jessicaphillipsco  and tell me which “un-funk” tool you’re starting with first; journaling, grounding, laughing, or changing your circle. And if you’re ready to go deeper, DM me the word UNFUNK and I’ll send you my 7-Day Reset Guide to help you find peace and flow again.Episode 1: The Turning Point — When “Enough Is Enough” Becomes Holy Ground Learn more about The 180 Method® → jessicaphillips.coJoin the Growth Lounge Community for deeper connection and coachingI'm cheering for you!XOXO,Jess

When “Enough Is Enough” : Coming Home to the Woman God Intended You to Be

There comes a moment in every woman’s life when she whispers the words, " I can't carry this any more."If you’ve been there, or maybe you’re sitting in that space right now, this episode is for you. This is where my own 180 began. The day I realized that trying harder wasn’t healing me…it was hiding me.We talk a lot about growth and purpose, but what we often skip over is the part where we have to clear the clutter. The emotional, spiritual, and even physical junk that’s keeping us from hearing God clearly.Because just like cleaning out an old closet, healing means pulling everything out, sitting in the mess, and deciding what gets to stay and what has to go.In this first episode of The Becoming Series, I share the truth about what it looks like to come home to the woman God created you to be.We dig into:Why exhaustion and burnout are often God’s way of inviting you to begin againHow the brain (yep, your amygdala!) stores unexpressed emotions, and how that emotional clutter shows up in your lifeThe difference between real humility and the kind that keeps Christian women smallHow people-pleasing can look holy, but actually keeps us disconnected and resentfulWhat biblical women like Esther, Deborah, and the midwives of Exodus can teach us about courage and callingAnd yes...we even talk about your closet. Because after two powerful conversations with stylist Jessica Papineau, I can’t not bring up the link between your external space and your internal healing.Just like those clothes that no longer fit the woman you’re becoming, some beliefs, habits, and patterns need to be released too.So if you’ve been striving, performing, or holding it all together for everyone else...it’s time to exhale. This is your holy ground, friend. This is where transformation begins. Here are some journaling prompts for you this week:What is this pain trying to teach me?What am I avoiding because it feels too uncomfortable to face? What might God be inviting me to release?Isaiah 43:19 “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”Sometimes the breaking isn’t punishment, it’s preparation. The unbecoming before the becoming is not a set back, it is a set up!If this episode stirred something in you, if you’re ready to stop pretending you’re fine and start healing at the root, share this episode with a friend who needs the reminder that it’s not too late to begin again.Tag me on Instagram: @jessicaphillipsco and tell me what part hit home for you.And if you’re ready to take your next step, DM me the word TURNING and let's discuss your next steps. Growth doesn't happen in our safe zone: What Charlie Kirk got right.

Comfort feels safe, but it’s quietly dividing us. When we refuse to get uncomfortable, when we won’t sit down across from one another and have honest conversations, we lose the chance to really hear, understand, and grow together. Instead, we cling to the sound bites, highlight reels, and media clips that keep us in our corners. In this episode, I dive into why the solution isn’t “out there” in the noise...it’s within us. It’s in choosing discomfort over silence, leaning into dialogue instead of division, and having the courage to ask ourselves:Why do I believe what I believe? Is it actually true? Or am I just repeating what I’ve heard?I’ll also share how Charlie Kirk got one thing right: he called us to be uncomfortable. He invited us to examine, to research, to think critically, and to show compassion for one another. Because real change won’t happen until we’re willing to stop consuming and start connecting. And to tie this together, I want to bring in one of my favorite books, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. This little book lays out four powerful principles for living with integrity and freedom:Be impeccable with your word.Don’t take anything personally.Don’t make assumptions.Always do your best. When we practice these, especially not taking things personally and not making assumptions, we open the door for deeper conversations, more compassion, and a whole lot less division. If you’ve been feeling the weight of our divided world, this episode will challenge you to see discomfort differently—not as pain to avoid, but as the pathway to growth, unity, and transformation.👉 Tune in and let’s explore what’s possible when we choose conversation over comfort.Let's continue the conversation:Come get in the room with other women who have decided to step out in faith and put fear in the back seat at the Rooted and Rising Retreat — October 23–26, 2025:Instagram: @jessicaphillipscoFacebook: jessicaphillipscoWebsite: www.jessicaphillips.coWant inspiration delivered right to your email. Who Am I Now? Rediscovering Yourself After the Nest Empties

There comes a moment when the noise quiets down. The house feels different, the roles you’ve held for years start to shift, and you find yourself looking in the mirror wondering… Who am I now?In today’s episode, I’m opening up about that tender season of life where the busyness fades and what’s left is an awareness of yourself — sometimes for the first time in decades. It can feel lonely. It can feel strange. And yet, this is often the very place where God begins to whisper, “Daughter, it’s time to remember who you are.”I share a personal story that changed how I looked at seasons forever, and I’ll invite you to think about what might be bubbling under the lid you’ve kept shut tight...the dreams, the hurts, even the parts of yourself you’ve put on hold while caring for everyone else. This isn’t an easy conversation, but it’s a necessary one. Because on the other side of this transition is a version of you that is more grounded, more authentic, and more aligned than ever before. If you’ve been feeling lost in the quiet, or if you’re longing to reconnect with who God created you to be, I want you to know you are not alone. Fear is a Liar: And how to silence it

In this episode of The Growth Lounge, I get real about a recent experience that almost stopped me from attending an event that reignited my purpose—and how fear nearly won. We will dig in to the science behind fear, the way our brains are wired to keep us safe (not fulfilled), and how you can lay down new neural pathways by choosing to move forward anyway. You’ll hear how my inner circle played a huge part in how I overcame the grip of anxiety. How they reminded me that I am a child of God who is meant to walk in faith, truth, and courage and that acting in the face of fear might be the most powerful shift I could make.Take a listen to my episode on leveling up your inner circle here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/5pAVZ5jLN45hYK1BdP9nTX?si=7ViuDL-YQxeA5nQ77-KTlQRemember, who you surround yourself with plays a massive role in whether fear shrinks you or faith expands you.And then get in the room with other women who have decided to step out in faith and put fear in the back seat at the Rooted and Rising Retreat — October 23–26, 2025: Instagram: @jessicaphillipscoFacebook: jessicaphillipscoWebsite: www.jessicaphillips.coSubscribe + Leave a Review:If this episode spoke to you, share it with a friend, leave a review, and don’t forget to subscribe.
