097: Locating the Balance between Effort and Surrender
"Striving" sounds powerfully positive and even necessary for optimal business success…to be filled with determination and tenacity! But striving can also mean to struggle vigorously. So when does this positive quality shift into anxiety and turmoil? Sometimes surrender means giving up trying to understand and becoming comfortable with not knowing. Your transformation into the person you were destined to be, and the fulfillment of your deepest purpose, happens on the other side of surrender. William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, said that "The greatness of a man's power is the measure of his surrender." 093: Leaders...Vulnerability is the Only Bridge to True Human Connection
Business leaders might feel as though they have to project this 'superhuman' persona in order to be considered effective leaders, but Dr. Norton and Bruce discuss why you shouldn't, on this week's episode. Although it might seem frightening at first, a vulnerable leader is often a good leader, and is seen as much more trustworthy to their team. Key Takeaways: [3:15] Vulnerability is the only bridge to true human connection. [4:30] Bruce believes the lack of vulnerability in business relationships made them less functional. [7:25] Bruce kept up the image of always being 'strong' and 'in control,' for a long time. [8:25] People, whether consciously or unconsciously, pick up on the fact that you're not being genuine with them. [10:05] Bruce was able to enjoy the process a lot more, by being vulnerable. [13:00] Trust in yourself is really required, for you to truly be vulnerable. [14:35] Vulnerability needs to be distinguished from arrogance or cockiness. [17:10] If you do not have a team that trusts you just yet, or if it's a new team, then you have to keep on being you, and vulnerable, in order to eventually gain that trust. [17:55] It's hard to inspire people when you act like a machine. [19:45] So, what does being a vulnerable leader mean? [21:55] Bruce tells a story of selling a product, when he had no idea whether or not it would be successful, and the problems that came along with it. [25:40] Choose to overcome ego, and be more humble. [27:00] Allow others to see that you're learning. [30:50] What are some of the benefits of vulnerable leadership? [34:45] There are four key steps that help leaders open up, and become more vulnerable. [40:15] Mindfluence challenge of the week. 092: Doug Stevenson - Engage the Power of Storytelling to Better Sell Your Vision, Ideas, and Service
How do you leverage, and monetize, your personal story? How does story apply in a company setting? This week's guest is a masterful storyteller. Doug Stevenson is the Founder and President of Story Theater International, a speaking, training, and consulting company. Doug has trained clients from all over the world on how to properly tell their story in an engaging way, where it attracts the customers' feelings and emotions first. Find out more on how to engage your customer through storytelling on this week's episode! Key Takeaways: [3:30] How does telling a good story change someone's thoughts and behaviors? [5:10] Customers are not interested in the technical aspects of your job. [8:55] If people are unable to feel it, they are unable to get it. [9:15] People want to sell with facts and data, but that doesn't always make a convincing sale. [11:45] Customers need to like you and trust you before they spend money on you. [12:45] Can you heal people with storytelling? [16:10] As business owners, how can we use stories, and monetize them? [20:15] Have you ever tried to give a dog a pill? [23:25] How can we choose the right story to tell? [30:20] You need to sell yourself and who you are, and you do that by telling your story! [33:15] How do companies craft their personal story? [36:45] People will work for less money, and way harder, for a cause they believe in. [39:25] Mindfluence challenge of the week. 091: Embrace Frustration for Positive Change & Greater Impact
We often see frustration and anger as negative things, but Dr. Norton and Bruce discusses why they don't always have to be. We often seek comfort over action, but this can lead to inaction, which can then lead to regret. If anything, you should be more afraid of inaction than taking the action itself. On this episode, you'll find out how you can use your frustration to create momentum, growth, and change. Key Takeaways: [2:00] Is your status quo just okay? [3:30] You can't always be happy, right? [5:45] You can really learn a lot from your frustrations. They can be the trigger you need to take action. [7:25] Without consistent change, you can't optimally grow. [9:40] When thinking of making a change, fear is the most common emotion that arises. [10:55] We've all heard of having a fight-or-flight response, but there's a third one to consider, you freeze. [11:35] When you've stayed frozen too long, it does lead to regret. [14:35] You should be more afraid of inaction than the action itself. [17:55] You will run into frustrating opposition with people and circumstances. [22:50] When it comes to your team, it may be beneficial to get angry with them (occasionally). Bruce explains further. [28:00] Anger and frustration are not bad, it just depends on how you use them. They can be great tools for learning and growing. [32:05] When you're feeling frustrated, look at the positive values from being in that state. [34:15] As we seek short-term comfort, it can end up disabling us towards positive growth. [35:25] You can use your discomfort to go insane, or you can use it to create positive momentum. [37:15] You have the ability to overcome these challenges!! [37:50] Mindfluence challenge of the week. 090: Aaron Janx - The Straight Scoop on Successful Selling
Aaron Janx is a 'No BS' sales mentor, and has some tips to share on how you can close that sale, because, as he says, if you don't have sales, you don't have a business. Do you want to lead more effectively in your next sales encounter? Then this is a podcast episode you certainty do not want to miss. Key Takeaways: [3:00] What motivates Aaron? [8:55] You can have the passion and certainty, but still not have the sales process down just yet. [12:15] Marketing is the servant to sales. It's not a sale unless you've received money. [16:40] Whenever you're selling something to somebody, you're always the leader in the relationship. [20:15] We're much more willing to avoid the pain than we are to actively seek and get pleasure. [23:35] If you can't close on the first selling encounter, 9 times out of 10, you will never be able to close that customer. [28:20] It has nothing to do with the prospects, but everything to do with you and how you speak to them. [30:10] How do we clarify and declutter our what and how? 089: Designing Your Compelling Future...Plant Seeds of Success
What is your biggest desired future? What is your dream outcome? When it comes to these answers, most people are uncertain as to where they'd like to go. However, if they do ever come up with a destination, it gets put into one of three categories as to when they should act on it: Now, someday, or never. Today, Dr. Norton and Bruce discuss the three success factors to achieving your desired future and lifestyle, so that you'll never put your dreams on hold. Key Takeaways: [0:45] What is your biggest desired future? [1:35] The only business and lifestyle you're destined to have is the one you're fully committed to designing. [3:55] Although you may have to add new things into your life in order to expect change, you may also have to get rid of things that are holding you back. [4:35] Once you have decided on what you want to do, you have three options as to when you can do them: Now, someday, or never. [6:25] Write down a plan of action. [7:10] There are three success factors that help you achieve the lifestyle you want. [7:45] Success factor number one: Dare to dream more deeply. [9:05] Create a business that supports your lifestyle, instead of compromising your lifestyle to support your business. [12:20] You cannot help others at the highest level if you, yourself, are struggling. [15:00] Always think about your compelling future, and how you can optimize your life today in order to achieve it. [16:00] Bruce reads a poem he wrote for his mother. [19:00] Send Bruce your poems…! [25:30] Entrepreneurs have to be willing to go out of their comfort zone (at least a little bit), in order to achieve the success they are looking for. [26:35] Success factor number two: Invest in the seeds and planting process, before you produce the successful harvest that you seek. [29:00] To start, you have to plant the seeds. If you don't, you'll never get what you want. [29:20] Bruce has another poem to share with you! [30:30] So many people wait for a crop to come up, when they haven't even planted the seeds. [34:10] Instant gratification will not get you to your desired future. [35:25] Success factor number three: Get outside perspectives before you commit to more planting. [35:55] Remember, you are the most important person in your business. [37:00] It's important to be able to find people who ask you the most essential and meaningful questions. 087: The Unique Impact of Stress on Men and Women and What You Can Do
Let's talk about stress. Men and women both experience stress and get rid of stress very differently from one another. Neither of this is good or bad, but as a business owner it is important to be aware of some of the subtle differences between the two genders when they're stressed out. Research shows that about 8 in 10 U.S. employees are stressed out about their jobs, so how can you give your staff the tools they need to help them get rid of stress? Find out more, on this week's episode. Key Takeaways: [4:15] There is such a thing as positive stress. [6:15] Some stress makes you feel alive, and some stress sucks the life out of you. [7:00] How do men and women stress differently? [11:15] How are these common stressors relevant to business owners? [14:25] About 8 in 10 U.S. employees are stressed about their jobs. [16:15] Watching TV was the number one stress reliever for both men and women. [21:15] Women are more likely than men to focus on their negative emotional state. [24:00] Women are also twice as likely as men to suffer from stress-related psychiatric disorders. [24:30] Men are three times more likely than women to suffer from drug and alcohol abuse. [27:25] How can women and men release stress? [28:30] It's far more likely that women are going to be more overwhelmed than men. [32:30] Men tend to have more of a flight or flight response to stress whereas women will try to talk through a conflict. [35:55] How can people minimize their stress? 086: Return to Center...Your Source of Clarity and Power
Dr. Norton and Bruce discuss an important concept about finding and keeping your center. Dr. Norton has been traveling these past few weeks, and he feels that he's lost a little bit of clarity from his journey. What are some of the signs and symptoms that show you're no longer at your center? How can you fix it? Why should you fix it? Bruce and Dr. Norton answer these very questions on this week's episode. Key Takeaways: [2:30] Through Dr. Norton's travels the last few weeks, and being out of his usual routine, Dr. Norton feels like he has lost clarity. [3:45] Bruce explains what 'being center' looks like to him. [5:00] You know when you're at your center because the center is calm, focused, and confident. You are at your happiest when you're center. [8:45] If we could bottle up our feelings of center, then we'd be wealthy. However, it's difficult to retain those feelings through a long and busy day, but it is possible with a bit of practice. [9:00] What does Dr. Norton feel when he is at his center? [10:35] What pulls Bruce off center? [12:00] Action ends dissatisfaction. [13:30] Bruce speaks about a client who is struggling with negative self-talk. [15:55] What's Dr. Norton's secret to getting back to center? [19:35] Bruce believes the reason why we have some great ideas in the shower, is because we're not surrounded by distractions. [22:25] What are some of the clues that tell us that we need to find our way back to center? [27:20] Finding your center is not some New Age thing. It's important for you and your business. [30:15] If you can't find peace -- this stillness -- in you, then you will never truly feel fulfilled. [34:25] When we're losing our center, we also begin to lose our discipline to take care of ourselves. [38:30] The longer we're away from our center, the hard it becomes to get back to it. [39:00] Bruce highly recommends that you meditate to keep center. [41:25] Quality friends can help bring you back on track. [43:10] Mindfluence challenge of the week. Life is a gift and you're only holding yourself back by not optimally taking care of it. Key Takeaways: [3:05] Good health is one of the contributing factors to a successful life. [3:35] Why is health important for busy on-the-go professionals? [8:00] Dr. Tran was burnt out and tired of seeing the same health problems caused by obesity. [10:00] Dr. Tran hated that she was just prescribing medication after medication. [13:25] If you're health isn't in great shape, you're holding yourself back. [13:55] Life is really a gift. [17:15] If you have a leadership role or if you're taking care of others, you have to take care of yourself first. 074: How to Leverage Strengths and Overcome Challenges by Understanding Behavior Styles
How do you deal with problems and challenges? Do you attack them directly or are you more cautious? What about rules and procedures? Are you more independent with a wiliness to break boundaries or do you focus on what's the right way to accomplish a task? There are no right or wrong answers to these questions, only understanding. If you've ever been confused by someone's actions and what drives them, then this is an episode you surely do not want to miss. Dr. Matthew and Bruce give you insightful tools to better understand those who seem almost impossible, unruly or difficult to manage. Key Takeaways: [1:00] How do you deal with problems or challenges? [4:20] Do you have issues? Are you a 'work in progress'? [4:50] You don't necessarily have to fix all the 'work in progress' stuff. [5:50] Be sure to check out the diagrams Dr. Matthew and Bruce refer to in the show notes. [6:55] Dr. Matthew does a recap of what 'core motivators' are. [7:20] Core motivators tell us why we do what we do. [7:50] Behavior styles, which is the topic of today's discussion, tell us how we move towards our core motivators. [8:45] Let's take a look at The Success Wheel diagram. Dr. Matthew provides an overview on each of the four behavior quadrants. [11:30] 45-50% of the US population is a S behavior style. [11:50] How can we apply this in a business setting? [15:35] Remember, there's nothing that's particularly right or wrong in these behavioral assessment charts. Think of these as a tool to get better insights as to who you are and who you work with. [19:30] This report is based off of 40 years of research. [20:30] When you understand what people are naturally good at, you're able to put them in the right company position. [21:45] People can adapt to new positions. However, the further away they are pulled from their natural style, the more stressed they become. [24:35] The higher people are on the D quadrant, the shorter the fuse. These people get triggered easily. [24:55] The primary emotion for I is optimism. [25:40] People who are on the S quadrant don't show their emotions as easily as all the others. [26:25] The primary emotion for people in the C quadrant is fear. The primary fear for C is criticism of their work. [27:25] The primary fear for D is being taken advantage of. [27:50] The primary fear for the I is social rejection. [29:05] The primary fear for S is loss of security. [29:50] What are the needs for each of these quadrants? [31:45] The best way to describe these charts is that they are a behavioral language. They help decode a lot of the mystery behind why someone acts the way they do. [33:15] How do each of these quadrants act when they're stressed? Dr. Matthew does a quick breakdown. [35:05] In the diagram, there's a circle and a star. What does that mean? [37:20] What does the Style Insights diagram mean? [41:30] How does all of this come together? [42:15] Without knowing this information before you hire, you're actually working at a disadvantage. Consider these questions to get you started on the path to playing bigger. What will you do? How will you impact the world? What is the most meaningful contribution you could make with your life? How big could you play? What is it that's holding you back? What excuses are you making? What could you deliver that would really make a difference? What's inside you that only you could express? Now, you may be thinking - "But what if I fail?" or "I'll engage in something bigger later when I have more time?" or "Who says that I really have anything significant to offer?" or "I'll create something unique once I've produced enough money and tended to my own security needs". No matter how legitimate those thoughts appear to be, at their roots they're excuses and lies. The first challenge is tuning in to hear the still/small voice calling you to your deeper purpose, the second is prioritizing this contribution or creative expression, and the third is not allowing your fears to succeed in stopping you. So are you ready to step out, take a bigger risk and play? Tune in to explore your possibilities for playing bigger, for creating and contributing something that really matters, starting today! 066: The Most Pressing Challenge in Every Business: Making Success Sustainable
Success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, and for success to be sustainable it must be maintained at a certain level, indefinitely. Financial wealth is the typical indicator of success. Then there's the opposing perspective that disdains 'money focus' in favor of service. The Mindfluence Revolution views success as an essential balance of wealth, contribution, fun and time freedom, along with the health and vitality to truly appreciate them. Similar to baking a cake, if you leave out any of the essential ingredients or if they're improperly combined, the result just isn't fully satisfying. What else do we need, beyond financial wealth, to be truly successful and have it be sustainable? Listen in as Dr. Norton and co-host Bruce Hurley explore the most pressing challenge in every business - making success sustainable. Key Takeaways: [1:24] While more money beyond a point does not add to our happiness, it's obvious that success in business requires a certain level of wealth. [2:08] Consider these perspectives according to Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and Julia Cameron. [6:05] Success sustainability and having individually-appropriate balance among the primary areas of focus: wealth, contribution, fun, and time freedom. [9:11] Why do 96% of businesses fail within 10 years and how to be a part of that 4%? Why is it important to have a sustainability plan? [15:10] The difference between just sustaining a business with relatively no change vs. having a business that's dynamic, grows, changes, and innovates. [19:05] Wealth, Contribution, Fun, and Time Freedom have to remain intimately connected to gain long-term, sustainable, dynamic success. [20:12] Examples of businesses that failed in long-term sustainability because one of these 4 elements may have been missing. [25:27] An example of the type of business that is sustainable and what to keep in mind regarding these 4 elements. [29:02] Why is making success sustainable the most pressing challenge for businesses? [32:09] How do you sustain anything, really? Focus, attention, and intention. [33:40] Mindfluence success challenge: Listen in for the 3 questions to ask yourself in order to achieve sustainable success and move closer to your liberation. 062: Why YOUR Company Needs a Business Diagnosis
Where are you stuck and what do you need to be liberated? We aren't talking about masking or managing your business problem symptoms, we're talking about clarifying the cause and truly resolving it. As a result of undiagnosed and unresolved problems, many smart people remain stuck, living and working at less than their full potential. Dr. Matthew Norton and co-host Bruce Hurley explore the dissatisfactions and blockages that affect leaders and their businesses; necessitating a diagnosis and a blueprint for liberation. Stay tuned to the end for this week's Mindfluence Challenge. Key Takeaways: [0:37] Dr. Norton shares a few quotes that resonate with the theme of today's show. [1:36] You can't know what to do to fully recover if you don't clearly know your underlying condition & what's preventing you from operating at peak performance. [3:11] Human factors holding you and your team back from becoming the best versions of yourselves are blockages and the process of breaking free of them is liberation. [4:52] One of the things you need to be liberated from is the unquestioned status quo. [5:13] Another things is society's expectations of you. [5:58] Another big one is your fears. "You can be frightened or enlightened, but you can't be both." [6:31] We see a lot of stress and overwhelm as blockages. [8:19] "Diagnosis" is the process of identifying what you need to be liberated from. [8:47] Bruce always feels like he needs to be liberated from his bad habits like procrastination and poor organization. What do you need to be liberated from? [9:26] What are the things that are holding you back from living your best life? [9:53] Imagine what would happen in your business if every member of your team could identify their own blockages? [11:01] The path of least resistance is the path that you should be on - a path that has flow. [12:05] Bruce shares a great liberation story on achieving outstanding outcomes in business by letting go of personal blockages. [17:19] Prior to getting to liberation, it's important to come to a diagnostic conclusion. How do you begin this diagnostic process? [18:19] Symptoms and signs: success blockages, fears, stressors, uncertainties, negative patterns, overwhelms, blind spots, etc. [19:15] Part of this liberation process is a willingness to open yourself up to really seeing yourself; and there are strategies and processes to do this, and it takes time. [21:11] You can break through your blockages and when you do you'll be living in a place of liberation which most people don't even visit. [22:35] "Blockages" is another way of saying things are out of balance with how you're expressing yourself and engaging other human beings out there. [25:23] The key takeaway: It's not what you're doing or not doing in your business that's been holding you back. So what is it? [27:00] Start by examining your dissatisfactions, to get some clues and be able to see what needs to be addressed. [28:57] What are some potential dissatisfactions which indicate some action needs to be taken? [30:21] The positive thing about looking at negative things is that you are empowered to do something about it. [33:14] In Mindfluence, the opposite of blockage is liberation. "You become liberated by empowering yourself to break through those blockages." [35:30] Problems are good symptom clues and a lot of times it takes problems to get help. [36:53] What does it take to get a full, clear and comprehensive business diagnosis that will lead to a liberation blueprint so you can get the success you're looking for. [38:49] Mindfluence success challenge: Brainstorm a list of your dissatisfactions and if you want a free help in doing so, send an email to [email protected]. And third, Who could I ask?" - Jim Rohn Mentioned in This Episode: www.mindfluencerevolution.com The Mindfluence YOUniverse [email protected]

060: Core Purpose...Your Success Foundation
Today's conversation is focused around fulfilling our purpose and reason for being on the planet in the first place. Are you interested in experiencing greater success in your business and your life? But, wondering how are the two connected in the first place? As Benjamin Disraeli has said, the secret to success is constancy to purpose. But what if you don't really know your purpose or can't figure it out in the first place, as Bishop T.D. Jakes once said, if you can't figure out your purpose, figure out your passion; for your passion will lead you right into your purpose. On this philosophically rich and insightful episode, Dr. Norton and co-host Bruce Hurley will deep dive into how core purpose sets the foundation and is the touchstone for your greatest success and fulfilment. Make sure to also catch the Mindfluence Challenge of the week detailing the 6 critical questions you can ask yourself to clarify and articulate your core purpose. Key Takeaways: [1:05] "The secret to success is constancy to purpose." Benjamin Disraeli [1:31] "Purpose is the place where your deep gladness meets the world's needs." - Frederick Buechner [2:01] Bruce shares his thoughts on the idea of core purpose. He says having your core purpose in mind is foundational to informing all of your activities. [2:58] What's the meaning of life? You Are! [4:00] What is your Unique Compelling Contribution (UCC)? [5:29] Meaning and purpose are personally discerned. We assume and search for meaning and that's one of those things that come from the inside. [6:05] Bruce shares a poem he wrote for an art project, on the meaning of life, when he was 12-years-old. He called it 'The Meaning'. [9:05] This idea of 'meaning' is not always unicorns and rainbows. There's meaning in failure, there's meaning in grief…learn to love the passion, that is all! [11:40] Leaders need to be involved in directing and driving forward their core purpose and mission. [13:15] Why is having an unwavering focus on your purpose so critical? How can it keep you moving forward? [14:24] Having a clear core purpose is going to motivate you as a leader, but it's also going to motivate your team, the people you serve, and the world. [16:31] Keeping your purpose on the forefront of your mind will help keep your priorities straight. [18:21] Bruce shares a life changing book titled Awareness, by Anthony De Mello. [19:39] Knowing your purpose will help you evaluate your progress and act as a guide to help you determine if you're on your path. [21:37] Why might you be feeling lost in your life or in your business? How can finding yourself in that lost place be a high positive energy state?<span class= "Apple-converted-space"> [23:00] It's important to connect your personal purpose to the company purpose. "The personal purpose of the leader should infuse the company purpose." [24:23] A study on truly exceptional companies that have prospered over the long-term found that the key component of their ability to endure and to thrive was a deeply held core purpose that created a strong sense of identity and continuity throughout the business. [25:45] Don't just create reasonable goals, create unreasonable goals. Don't just create a realistic version of your contribution, create an idealistic one so that it's bigger than you can imagine. [26:55] Your ability to prosper as a company is not about what you sell, it's about what you believe and that should drive everything that you do. [28:31] The entire point of getting clear on your purpose is to inspire and lead your team and the people you serve. [29:38] When defining your core purpose you need to be clear and genuine. It has to be meaningful to your business. 054: Helping Fill the Massive Public Need
People are hardwired for contribution and this is why entrepreneurs who make a contribution to the world and to the people they serve are often happier and more fulfilled. There are entrepreneurs like Kevin O'Leary from Shark Tank who are all about the bottom-line and whether it makes money or not, but one can assume he is not as happy or even as fulfilled. Dr. Matthew and Bruce talk on how you can actually do both, make money and bring contribution to your customers and team, on today's episode. Key Takeaways: [2:05] True entrepreneurs are driven to serve and to lead. [2:10] Bruce talks about the contribution perspective. [3:55] Is Kevin O'Leary the least happy person on Shark Tank? [4:55] People like Steve Jobs and Tony Hsieh serve the market's unmet needs. [5:45] When Roger Bannister ran a mile in four minutes, he inspired others to do the same as well. [7:00] You will also provide inspiration to your team, not just your customers. [7:45] People who are just focused on the bottom-line aren't as fulfilled. [8:15] If you're just focusing on money, then you're somewhere in the middle of the process. [9:35] It always starts with the public's unmet needs. [10:30] Why do you own a business? [12:55] People can have massive success, but still be unfulfilled. [13:25] You can contribute to your success while you're making money. [14:15] Business people feel lost because they're on a hamster wheel. [14:30] We're hardwired for contribution. [17:15] So many businesses do not relate to the people they serve. [19:55] If you're not engaged with your own story, it's very hard for others to follow suit. [23:50] A lot of entrepreneurs fall in love with an idea they have and naively believe it will sell. [24:00] Ask yourself: What are the public's unmet needs and how can I solve it? [25:10] Bruce talks about the 4 primary business mindsets: Hamster, Inventor, Problem Solver, and Guide. [29:00] Dr. Matthew explains 'hair on fire, customer pain'. [29:40] Look for the customers with their hair on fire. How can you solve their problems? [32:00] To test an idea, Bruce would run an ad to test the market before he'd make the product. [33:55] A common mistake startups make is that they solve problems nobody has. [34:25] Even if you've been in business for a long time, think of your company as a startup to change your perspective on old and out of date business models. How would you do it differently? [35:35] Challenge of the week: Look at the public and see who has their hair on fire. [3:40] Fred impressed Mark so much that he wrote a book about him titled: The Fred Factor. [4:10] The premise to Mark's book is that nobody can prevent you from being extraordinary. [8:25] We can create a transaction and then turn it into a connection with other people. Mark explains further. [9:35] The ability for your employees to connect with others is what builds customer loyalty. [11:30] You can add value to anything you do and it won't cost you a dime. [14:15] Customers need three As: Attention, Acknowledgment, and Action. [17:45] What are you doing differently from everyone else? [19:45] Now that you are successful, are you still having fun? [23:20] Methods that worked 20 years ago, might not work today. You have to constantly reinvent yourself. [24:15] Although reflection is difficult, it needs to happen in order for you to grow. [29:45] Mark has learned a lot from just sitting down at a bar and talking to bartenders. [30:25] Closing thoughts: always ask, 'How can I help?' 051: Creative Innovation
Dr. Matthew and Bruce discuss why it's important to think about incorporating innovation into your business. When you're providing a service no one else is providing, not only do you have a competitive edge, but you can also make your own rules along the way. Humans are designed to be creative and if you can incorporate that into your business model, you'll find it will fuel you to new heights and achievements without it leaving you drained or burned out. [6:10] You can't be the only guy doing what you do without a little bit of innovation. [6:55] The traditional way to solve problems is falling short because it fails to inspire people. [7:25] What does Bruce mean by innovation in this context? [10:20] When you apply creativity to your business model, you get a double benefit that prevents you from being burned out. [11:00] Dr. Matthew talks about innovation and Steve Jobs. [12:35] We're designed to be creative. [13:30] Creativity + innovation = impact. [15:40] When you're offering something other people aren't offering, you can make your own rules. [18:00] Innovation doesn't always mean you have to reinvent the wheel.
