If you’ve ever brushed off leaking, painful intimacy, constipation, or back pain as “just part of being a woman”, today’s episode is for YOU!We’re sharing some of the most common things we hear from patients every single week as pelvic floor therapists. Just because something is common does not mean it’s normal!Whether it’s peeing when you sneeze after having kids, feeling pressure “down there,” or struggling with painful intimacy, you’re definitely not alone. While these things can be embarrassing to talk about, there are REAL answers (and support) available! The biggest reminder from this conversation? 67. Learning to Trust Your Body Again

Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything *right* for your health, but…somehow things still feel off? In today’s conversation, we’re unpacking something we see all the time in our clinics (and have experienced ourselves): when healing efforts quietly turn into hypervigilance. Instead of helping the body feel safe and supported, constant monitoring, overthinking, and trying to do it all “perfectly”, can actually keep symptoms lingering longer than they need to. Even using helpful strategies can quickly become unhelpful (which leads to even more frustration and overwhelm). If you’ve been feeling stuck, discouraged, or like your day revolves around managing symptoms, this episode is your reminder: your body isn’t fragile - it’s incredibly capable. Sometimes, the most POWERFUL shift isn’t adding more. It’s loosening your grip, creating space, and learning to trust your body again!Episode Recap:What hypervigilance in health really meansWhy helpful strategies can become unhelpful when they turn obsessive or fear-drivenThe crucial role your nervous system playsRealizing that more effort ≠ faster healingWhy this pattern is often driven by subconscious fearsKey signs to watch forShifting your body from control → trustSmall shifts that can truly help to break this cycleWhy healing your body isn’t about perfection**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. There are plenty of signs to look for, causes for why this is happening, and what real solutions can look like for parents and families. While many people are told this is “normal” or something kids will grow out of, the truth is, there’s a LOT we can do to support healthy bowel habits early on!If constipation is ongoing, painful, or impacting your child’s daily life, it may be time to bring in support. 64. Endometriosis Awareness: What Every Woman Needs to Know

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, and this is a topic that’s incredibly important to us as pelvic health therapists!Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women worldwide, yet the average time to diagnosis is still 7–10 years. That delay often leaves women feeling dismissed, confused, and questioning their own experiences when painful symptoms are brushed off as “normal.” In reality, endometriosis is far more complex than many people realize, and it deserves MUCH more awareness and support!Endometriosis care works best when it’s multidisciplinary and whole-body focused. A supportive care team (including pelvic health therapists like ourselves), can help address underlying inflammation and chronic pain patterns. If you’ve ever wondered whether painful periods are normal, what endometriosis symptoms look like, or how endometriosis is diagnosed and treated, we hope this episode brought you value and insight as you advocate for your health!Episode Recap:Key endometriosis stats + how long the typical diagnosis takesWhy endometriosis is more than a reproductive condition + can affect many areas of the bodyWhy symptoms go far beyond painful periodsUnderstanding that pain that disrupts your life is NOT normalWhy disease stage doesn’t equal symptom severity.Reasons why endometriosis diagnosis is often delayedWhy specialized surgery is the gold standardHow pelvic health PT and OT can help manage symptomsWhy endometriosis care NEEDS to be multidisciplinaryContinuing to advocate for your health & seek providers who will support you**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 63. Rethinking Clogged Ducts + Mastitis: How Therapeutic Ultrasound Supports Healing for Nursing Moms

In today’s episode, we’re diving into a tool we both use in our clinics that more nursing moms deserve to know about: therapeutic ultrasound for clogged ducts and mastitis. According to the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine’s Clinical Protocol #36 (revised in 2022), therapeutic ultrasound may be an effective treatment for conditions within the mastitis spectrum. When used early (and really at the first sign of a clogged duct) this modality can make a HUGE difference!During mastitis, ultrasound helps shift the environment in the tissue by decreasing inflammatory processes and supporting the body’s natural healing response. The earlier we intervene, the better the outcome tends to be.We also talk through practical do’s and don’ts if you’re dealing with a clogged duct (some may surprise you). As always, we want you to know that there are supportive, evidence-informed tools available. You don’t have to just “power through” this alone!Whether you’re a mom navigating your breastfeeding journey, or a provider wanting to better support your patients, we hope this episode feels both enlightening AND empowering!Episode Recap:What therapeutic ultrasound is + how it differs from diagnostic imagingWhy the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine recognizes therapeutic ultrasound as an effective treatment optionHow early treatment of clogged ducts can prevent progression to mastitisWhat’s physiologically happening during a clogged duct + how inflammation can quickly escalate if not addressedHow therapeutic ultrasound supports the body’s natural healing response + helps restore proper milk flowThe importance of a whole-body, team-based approach during this timePractical do’s & don’ts for managing clogged ducts at home**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 61. Pelvic Floor Basics: Understanding Your Pelvic Floor From the Ground Up

Pelvic health is one of those topics that everyone has heard about, but very few people truly understand. In today’s episode, we’re going back to the pelvic floor basics. We’re breaking down what the pelvic floor actually is, what it does, and why it’s so much more than the dysfunction-based conversations most people are hearing! Our goal is to help you feel informed, empowered, and supported - not scared or confused. While you can’t *see* your pelvic floor muscles, they’re doing a LOT in your everyday life (for both women AND men).If there’s one key takeaway from this episode, it’s this: your pelvic floor is a dynamic, adaptable muscle system - not a problem to ignore, or a muscle to endlessly overwork. True pelvic health goes FAR beyond kegels!Pelvic health is never one-size-fits-all, and meaningful progress takes time. With the right input and individualized care, real healing is absolutely possible!Episode Recap:Why pelvic health is so much more than dysfunctionWhat the pelvic floor really is + how they can become overworked like any other systemUnderstanding that BOTH men & women have pelvic floors with crucial roles6 key functions of the pelvic floorWhy pelvic floor challenges aren’t always about weaknessHow breathing and pressure management are closely connected to the pelvic floor’s functionWhy symptoms like leaking, urgency & pain are common, but NOT normalWhy pelvic health is individualized and goes FAR beyond kegels**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 60. Building Resilient Bodies: What We Can Learn From the Norwegian Way of Living

In today’s episode, we’re diving into nervous system regulation, body resilience, and what we can learn from the Norwegian approach to daily life. Megan has been exploring the Scandinavian way of living (the Norwegian concept friluftsliv translates to “open air life”). Getting fresh air outside is prioritized (regardless of weather), and discomfort isn’t avoided, but embraced! The simple practices they utilize support calmer, more regulated nervous systems, and stronger, more resilient bodies over time. One of the biggest takeaways here? Growth and regulation don’t happen in comfort. Safe, manageable discomfort helps train resilience - both physically and emotionally. As humans, we often want to avoid discomfort entirely. But…regulation is built through safe challenges, simpler rhythms, clearer boundaries, and fewer extremes. Calm is not inherited - it’s practiced!Whether it’s stepping outside for a few minutes, breathing intentionally, or choosing one small habit that supports your health, we want to invite you to rethink wellness, and create rhythms that truly support your pelvic floor and whole-body health!Episode Recap:Why nervous system regulation is a key foundation for pelvic health, resilience & overall wellnessHow daily time outside can act as a powerful nervous system regulator + how this supports pelvic floor synergyWhy regulation and growth happen through safe & manageable discomfortTapping into nervous system regulation if you want to reap the rewards w/your healthSimple ways to help reduce nervous system overloadWhy “calm” is a skill that’s trained through consistent & intentional practicesHow small actions can create meaningful change over time**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 59. What We’re Leaving Behind (and Taking With Us) Into 2026

As we step into 2026, we wanted to do something a little different with this episode. We’re talking a little less “new year, new you” energy, and more honest reflection. Instead of piling more onto already full plates, this conversation is about looking at what’s already there! We’re sharing our thoughts on restoring order, optimizing where possible, evaluating our TRUE capacity (not what we *think* we can do), how burnout really shows up, and more. Between business ownership, motherhood, marriage, and all of the other roles we hold as women, it’s easy to feel like we should always be “on”, and doing all.the.things. But…it’s not about adding more to our plates - it’s about doing what we’re already doing BETTER.As we head into this new year, we’re inviting you to use your time wisely (however that looks for you in this season). Cheers to health, compassion, connection, and intentionality in 2026!Episode Recap:Optimizing what we’re already doing (and doing it better)How restoring order, organization & focus can clean lead to more focus + clarity Why your capacity matters + is allowed to changeLetting go of over-explaining, people-pleasing, and instant responsesWhy constantly being “on” can lead to burnout + more health challengesWhy stewarding your health is VITAL**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 57. Simple Mindfulness Tools for the Holiday Season + Everyday Life

The holiday season can feel like a LOT.Between overstimulation, full schedules, travel, chronic illness flares, and more, our bodies pick up far more than we realize. In today’s episode, we wanted to slow things down and talk about mindfulness. And no…not the “fluffy, clear your mind and float away” kind of mindfulness. More like the REAL, usable version that can help you come back home to yourself whenever you need to!As clinicians who spend hours holding space for people in hard moments, having a daily “reset” ritual isn’t optional for us - it’s necessary.Mindfulness is not about fixing - it’s about witnessing. Mindfulness becomes powerful when it becomes woven into your everyday life (not another task added to your neverending to-do list). We hope you choose presence, curiosity, and give your nervous system a chance to BREATHE during one of the busiest seasons of the year!!Episode Recap:Why mindfulness is NOT just “clearing your mind”Start with your body first (not your mind)Using micro-moments throughout your day instead of long mindfulness sessionsLabeling sensations & emotions with neutral, non-judgmental language.Focusing on witnessing your experience instead of “fixing” or forcing calmUsing all 5 of your senses as anchors to stay presentPracticing self-compassion every time your mind wandersAttaching mindfulness to daily habits so it becomes automatic AND sustainableLearning to use your breath like a dial (instead of a hammer)Asking yourself, “What is happening in my body right now?**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 56. Your Body Isn’t Betraying You: A Thanksgiving Gratitude Reset

In today’s episode, we’re leaning into gratitude…but not the “fluffy”, toxic-positivity version that may come to mind. With Thanksgiving around the corner, it felt like the perfect time to explore gratitude as a powerful lens that shapes how we experience our health, our healing, and our bodies!Gratitude isn’t about pretending things are “fine”. It’s about acknowledging what is good, steady, AND improving, even when the hard stuff is happening right alongside it.Your body gives you sooo much to appreciate, even on the days it feels like it’s working against you. Even symptoms (as frustrating as they are) are your body signaling, not betraying you. Gratitude calms the system, and a calm system can finally HEAL.If you’re walking through a pelvic health journey (or any healing journey), remember - it doesn’t have to be only about “fixing”. Healing becomes more possible when we can honor how the body is supporting us along the way!Episode Recap:What gratitude truly is + why noticing what’s good, steady & improving mattersHow gratitude supports the body + calms the nervous systemWhy your body isn’t betraying you, but adapting and signalingSimple gratitude tools & journal prompts you can use todayGetting curious about resistance or emotions that surface**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. Unlike her first two pregnancies, Roxi admits this one felt much more laid-back (as in, she wasn’t as consumed by all the details because, well, life was happening)! We’re chatting about Roxi’s expectations for her birth (which looked totally different than what she pictured), what helped her get through this “unexpected” labor and delivery, why it’s okay to be vulnerable during this time, and more.Through it all, Roxi walked away with a deep sense of peace, accomplishment, and contentment. Whether it’s your first baby or your third, this is a beautiful reminder to give yourself grace, advocate for what you want, and cherish the sweetness of the journey!Episode Recap:What life looked like for Roxi leading up to this pregnancyHow this pregnancy felt different from her first twoBirth “plans” vs. expectations going inWhat she pictured her labor and delivery would be likeThe surprising start to labor and being induced a week past her due dateRoxi’s unexpected unmedicated birth + what it took to get through itThe most challenging moment + the mindset work that helped her push throughWhy vulnerability matters during labor and birthLessons she learned + how this birth changed herRoxi’s advice for anyone preparing for birthOne word Roxi uses to describe her birth story**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 51. Lichen Sclerosus & Pelvic Floor Therapy: Taking a Collaborative Approach with Women’s Health

Lichen sclerosus is one of those conditions that doesn’t get nearly enough attention, even though it can have a MAJOR impact on quality of life. In today’s conversation, we’re breaking down what lichen sclerosus is, what it looks like, and why early treatment makes SUCH a big difference. Lichen sclerosus is not something you want brushed off as “normal.” If left untreated, it can progress to many unwanted symptoms. Thankfully, there’s good news - LS can be managed with the right support and treatment plan! While pelvic health PTs and OTs don’t “treat” LS directly, we can make a huge difference when it comes to addressing pelvic pain, dyspareunia, and muscle tightness that often accompany this condition. Most importantly, you DON’T have to navigate this alone. Building a care team (whether that’s a gynecologist, dermatologist, pelvic floor therapist, or even a sex therapist), can help you find relief and feel more confident in your body again. If something feels off, don’t wait for someone else to “catch it.” You deserve answers, and to feel healthy, comfortable, AND empowered in your own skin!!Episode recap:What lichen sclerosus is + the most common symptoms to look out forOther possible conditions that can mimic LS symptomsWhy early diagnosis and treatment make such a BIG differenceThe first-line medical treatment for lichen sclerosusLifestyle and self-care practices that support vulvar health and overall well-beingThe role of pelvic health providers in helping patients navigate LSWhat your collaborative care team might includeThe importance of advocating for your own health & getting the care you deserve**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 49. The Hip-Pelvic Floor Connection: Why Your Hip Pain Might Need a Different Approach

Hip pain is something many women chalk up to “just the way it is” - especially as we move through different seasons of life. But…what if your hips are telling you there’s MORE going on beneath the surface? In today’s episode, we’re zooming in on why the hip-pelvic floor connection plays a critical role here. Pelvic floor therapy can help tremendously with reducing pain, restoring movement, AND supporting overall wellness. The truth is, your hips and pelvic floor share fascial and neural connections, meaning what happens in one area almost always affects the other. And no…stretching alone won’t resolve hip pain.  While it can help in the short term, long-term improvement comes from strengthening, building stability, and retraining the nervous system so your body feels safe enough to move freely again!Ultimately, working with a pelvic health provider can be the missing piece for addressing hip pain (whether you’re experiencing other pelvic symptoms or not). Also - don’t miss a special announcement from Roxi in this one!!In this episode, we’re covering:How hip pain can actually be a primary sign of pelvic floor dysfunctionWhy limited hip mobility changes pelvic mechanics + increases load on pelvic floor musclesCommon overlapping symptoms when hip + pelvic floor issues show up togetherUnderstanding that hips are more than just the “butt” + how the piriformis plays a big roleWhy stretching alone won’t solve your hip pain**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 48. Why Diastasis Recti Isn’t About the “Gap” + What Really Matters for Postpartum Healing

Diastasis recti (DR) is one of THE most misunderstood and frequently asked-about topics in our clinics. There's a LOT of outdated information floating around about it, so we want to set the record straight with this episode! In today’s conversation, we’re talking about diastasis recti, and why it isn’t just about the “gap” in your abs. It’s really about pressure, tension, and how your core is functioning as a system.Updated research shows that 100 percent of women will experience some degree of diastasis recti in their third trimester of pregnancy. The “gap” you may have in your abs isn’t even CLOSE to the full picture! Most cases of DR respond really well to smart, individualized rehab. We’re talking breathwork, re-activating deep core muscles, and yes, eventually adding crunches back in for some clients! Recovery isn’t a straight line, and it definitely doesn’t follow the “bounce-back” timeline our culture loves to push. If you’re ready for true postpartum healing, we can’t recommend a pelvic floor assessment enough; we would be honored to be a part of your journey! In this episode, we’re covering:What diastasis recti actually is + most likely to experience itWhy focusing only on the “gap” misses the bigger pictureCommon risk factors + the biggest myths we still hear about DRHow we assess DR & look for as clinicians + how this can help you as the patientWhat treatment and recovery really look like w/diastasis rectiSetting realistic expectations for healing vs. chasing the “bounce-back” fantasy**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 47. Pelvic Floor Truth Bombs: Why Magic Chairs and Quick Fixes Miss the Mark + Don’t Lead to True Healing

Let’s talk about the latest “shiny object” in the world of pelvic health: fancy chairs and high-priced devices promising to “fix” your pelvic floor, with the push of a button. In today’s conversation, we’re getting a littttle spicy, and spilling some major pelvic floor truth bombs. Honestly, these “quick fix” solutions (like the Emsella chair, aka the Kegel chair), just DON’T sit well with us.While they might sound appealing, the reality is these devices are expensive, over-marketed, and often miss the point ENTIRELY. You can’t outsource body awareness to a machine. These gadgets don’t help you feel your body, understand your symptoms, OR retrain your brain. Most people don’t need more pelvic floor contractions - they NEED education, relaxation, and personalized care!If you’re serious about improving your pelvic floor health, we’re here to remind you to skip the flashy chair. Instead, connect with a trained pelvic floor specialist who KNOWS how to help your body heal from the inside out!In this episode, we’re covering:The rise of pelvic floor gadgets like the Emsella chair + why they’re not actually solving the problemWhy you can’t outsource body awareness to a device or machineThe wild price tag on these devices + why they’re rarely worth itUnderstanding that pelvic health isn’t one-size-fits-all, and real healing requires hands-on, whole-person careHow fear-based marketing around these devices misses the mark on true wellness**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 45. Life After Prostate Removal: Pelvic Rehab Tips for Men

With June being Men’s Health Month, we’re continuing the conversation with a topic that impacts far more men than you might think: life after a prostatectomy.Whether it’s due to prostate cancer, elevated PSA levels, or other health concerns, prostate removal is a MAJOR event, and the physical and emotional recovery can be just as significant. In today’s conversation, we’re discussing what men really experience after prostate removal, and how pelvic rehab can be a total game changer during this process. Research and experience both show that “pre-hab” (aka, prepping your pelvic floor before the procedure) leads to better post-op outcomes, shorter recovery timelines, and a stronger connection to your body. Honestly, men aren’t used to tuning into their bodies this way. But…working with a provider who truly GETS this process can help with a smoother recovery and healing!Pelvic floor rehab is powerful and essential for post-prostatectomy. Life after prostate removal can be strong, healthy, and FULL of possibility! In this episode, we’re covering:Why some men need prostatectomies + common symptoms they face after surgeryEye-opening stats on pelvic floor rehab before prostate surgeryHow “pre-hab” can greatly improve recovery & confidenceWhat post-op support looks likeWhy personalized, empowering care makes ALL the difference in healing**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. In honor of Men’s Health Month, we wanted to shine a light on something that doesn’t get nearly enough air time: men’s pelvic health. While pelvic floor dysfunction is more commonly talked about in women’s health spaces, we’re seeing more and more male patients in our clinics. That has GOT to change! In today’s conversation, we’re talking about men’s pelvic health, and the REAL issues they can experience when seeking care. Yep…men have pelvic floors, just like women! Unfortunately, many of their concerns get brushed off, misdiagnosed, or overly medicalized, when pelvic floor rehab could offer major relief AND long-term results. Our goal is to help uncover the root causes and support the body in a truly functional, sustainable way.Whether you’re navigating symptoms yourself or want to support a loved one, we hope this episode brings awareness, encouragement, and empowerment. Let’s keep normalizing these topics, because everyone deserves to feel informed, heard, AND cared for!In this episode, we’re covering:Overview of the male pelvic anatomy5 common pelvic floor issues men experience (that often go ignored)Why pelvic and testicular pain are more common than you thinkTop reasons these issues often get overlooked or misdiagnosedWhat pelvic floor PT and/or OT actually looks like for menThe biggest barrier keeping most men from getting the care they need**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 35. Imperfect Wellness: Embracing Balance, Self-Compassion, and Realistic Health Goals

Today’s episode topic is one of our favorites to discuss, and one of the biggest reasons as to WHY we started our podcast: imperfect wellness.Wellness isn’t about striving for ‘perfection’, but rather, embracing balance, self-compassion, and realistic goals in our mental, physical, and emotional health. Even though NOBODY is perfect, it can be super easy to fall into the all-too-familiar ‘comparison trap’. We see what everybody else is doing on social media, and we automatically think that we’re not doing good ‘enough’, right?!In today’s conversation, we’re sharing more about our journeys with ‘imperfect wellness’, 4 key principles of imperfect wellness, and tips to help you embrace this into YOUR life. While we’ve struggled with perfectionism tendencies and fear of failure, we’ve also learned that giving ourselves grace, compassion, and allowing ourselves to adjust (or simply ‘rest’ more) during certain seasons is SO necessary!   We hope this episode encourages you to find more joyful + sustainable ways to navigate your wellness journey. It’s time to break free from the pressures of perfectionism, and embrace imperfect wellness in ALL areas of your life! In this episode, we’re covering:What ‘imperfect wellness’ means to usWhy 2 things can be true at onceRealizing that failure does NOT have to be the ‘worst thing ever’Key principles of imperfect wellnessPractical tips to help you embrace imperfect wellness**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. Today’s episode isn’t the *most* exciting topic to talk about (especially if it’s something you’ve experienced personally), but it’s a big one!Pelvic organ prolapse (commonly referred to as ‘prolapse’), is often misunderstood. 30. Why One Pelvic Floor Visit Isn’t Enough: The Importance of Consistent Care

Today’s episode topic is one that’s cropped up quite a bit recently for both of us, so we knew we had to dive into it here!In today’s episode, we’re discussing why one pelvic floor visit isn’t enough, and the importance of consistent care. We’re sometimes asked if coming in for *one* visit and doing the follow-up care on your own will work, but the truth is..it won’t. The comprehensive nature of our pelvic floor therapy evaluations are super important; we take our work very seriously, and put a great deal of time, effort, and energy into our clinics. While we can learn a lot from the initial session with a patient, the follow-up visits are KEY; this is where the magic happens!Pelvic floor issues are never a ‘single issue’ type of treatment, and change takes time - especially if you’ve had this dysfunction going on for a while. The work you do in pelvic floor therapy is not going to be a ‘quick fix’, and the commitment piece is VITAL if you’re looking to have lasting results. We’re committed to every single person who walks into our room, and will always provide the best care and guidance possible. If you’re struggling with pelvic floor issues or are simply looking to optimize your health & wellness, we hope you find this episode valuable + are reminded that one pelvic floor visit is NOT enough!!In this episode, Why One Pelvic Floor Visit Isn’t Enough, we’re covering:Why the comprehensive nature of the pelvic floor therapy evaluations matter + should be appreciatedReasons why one pelvic floor therapy session is NOT enough Understanding that certain care and treatments are going to take timeWhy your follow-up appointments are essential Realizing that nothing necessarily has to be ‘wrong’ in order for you to do pelvic floor therapy + why the commitment piece is importantExpectations vs. reality of your initial visitWhat to do between therapy sessions**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 28. From New Beginnings to Holistic Care: Embracing Growth as Pelvic Health Therapists

For this episode, we wanted to take some time and share some reflections on our journey as pelvic floor physical therapists! Recently, we both helped at the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Floor 1 course, which is basically the ‘intro’ course for anyone looking to learn more about pelvic floor therapy. This was actually hosted at Megan’s clinic, Kansas Pelvic Health, for the first time - we had so much fun being on the other side, supporting the event! In today’s episode, we’re chatting about our start as ‘beginner’ pelvic health therapists, and what’s changed since then. From having solid mentorship and continuous learning, to focusing on holistic care and taking an empathetic, ‘whole-person’ approach with every patient, you could say we’ve learned a thing (or two) along the way.Connecting with people and helping them improve their overall health & well-being has been truly rewarding for us - it never gets old! We’ve both experienced many challenges and triumphs, but we’ve continued to embrace growth. We feel incredibly blessed to be in the world of pelvic health, and are excited for where our profession is headed!!In today’s episode about embracing growth as pelvic health therapists, we’re covering:Two intro courses that can help you get started in pelvic healthMegan’s experience with being a ‘host’ site for the first timeOur reflections on the importance of continued learning, mentorship & self-investmentTaking a holistic, whole-body approach when treating patients vs. solely treating patients’ symptom(s)Creating a nurturing + inviting clinical environment**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 27. Flexibility in Expectations: Navigating Postpartum Exercise and Activity

Before we get into today’s topic, we have to share something exciting...We just hit our ONE year anniversary with the podcast (yep, our podversary)!!This last year has been a fun one - we’ve learned a LOT through this process, and have truly enjoyed getting to dive deep into topics that we’re passionate about. We’re so grateful for this space, and we hope you’ve learned a thing (or two) about pelvic floor therapy, and what it looks like to prioritize your health and well-being, regardless of the season of life you’re in.In today’s episode, we’re discussing why flexibility in expectations matter, and more specifically, navigating postpartum exercise and activity. As pelvic floor physical therapists, we often work with women who are eager to return to regular exercise, activity, sports, etc. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always go as planned, which leaves women feeling confused, frustrated, and uncertain as to what they should do going forward. There are many gaps in the education & guidance women receive in regards to postpartum, and what to expect. It’s time to change that, and even more, stop thinking that at 6 weeks postpartum you’ll ‘magically’ feel like exercising and having sex again, without skipping a beat!We believe in informed and flexible postpartum care for all. Focusing on crucial ‘pillars’ when it comes to your health, as well as being realistic with your goals and expectations in the postpartum season is so, SO important. The postpartum period is an incredibly beautiful time, but also very challenging. Please remember to have grace with yourself, because your recovery journey is unique to YOU!!In today’s episode, Flexibility in Expectations: Navigating Postpartum Exercise and Activity, we’re covering:The increasing trend happening with people online giving pelvic floor ‘advice’, without proper training or education4 key pillars to focus on in the postpartum periodWhy it’s crucial that we change the narrative around returning to exercise and sex 6 weeks postpartumThe importance of balancing your goals & expectations as a postpartum woman + being realistic with what you can do in this seasonWhy proper loading vs. repetitive exercises builds strength and better supports you long-termShifting away from the ‘all or nothing’ mindset in postpartum **Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 26. From Pain to Pleasure: Overcoming Vaginismus and Dyspareunia with Pelvic Floor Therapy

Our main focus for today’s episode is painful intercourse - specifically, the conditions known as vaginismus and dyspareunia. We treat both of these super often in our clinics, and we know it is very common for women to suffer in silence when they’re experiencing one (or both) of these. Fortunately, vaginismus and dyspareunia are very treatable, but there are some key differences as to what they are, what we see, and how we treat them.  In today’s conversation, we’re talking about overcoming vaginismus and dyspareunia with pelvic floor therapy. As pelvic floor physical therapists, we’re always going to treat the person, not the diagnosis. It’s important to take a personalized approach and really understand WHY you’re experiencing painful intercourse, or any kind of pelvic pain or dysfunction. While this may feel ‘normal’ to you (especially if it’s been this way for a while), it’s always connected to a previous event or trauma, and we want to get to the bottom of that. This extra pelvic pain or tension that you’re dealing with is very multifaceted. It’s there for a reason, and it’s not ‘just in your head’. Having a glass of wine and simply ‘relaxing more’ isn’t going to make it go away! Ultimately, we hope this episode gives you more insight into both vaginismus and dyspareunia, and why these aren’t conditions that you’re destined to deal with forever. You can go from pain to pleasure, because your body IS capable of healing!! In today’s episode, From Pain to Pleasure: Overcoming Vaginismus and Dyspareunia with Pelvic Floor Therapy, we’re covering:What vaginismus is + how it’s different from dyspareuniaWhat dyspareunia is + the different typesCommon causes that contribute to vaginismus and dyspareunia + the strong connection the nervous system has in both conditionsThe crucial role the pelvic floor physical therapist plays in supporting and treating patients with vaginismus and dyspareuniaWhy taking a ‘team’ approach and collaborating with other health professionals can lead to better outcomes and overall healingClassic myths and misconceptions surrounding vaginismus and dyspareunia Our best, practical advice as you’re navigating vaginismus, dyspareunia, or any kind of pelvic pain or dysfunction**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 25. Mindset Matters: Shifting Perspectives to Empower Healing

Today’s episode is covering a topic that is often overlooked, but definitely impacts you more than you think!Yep..we’re talking about the power of your MINDSET, and how it really can ‘make or break you’ as you’re trying to heal. In today’s conversation, we’re discussing why mindset matters, and how shifting perspectives can empower healing. Mindset is a crucial piece of your healing journey, and as pelvic floor physical therapists, we see this all the time when working with our patients. When you stop doubting yourself and get out of that ‘victim’ mentality, you CAN get better. A positive mindset is powerful, and when you allow yourself to see what’s possible by putting in the work and believing in yourself (regardless of what obstacles come your way), true healing IS possible!Whether you’re focusing on your health, fitness, career, or something else, don’t forget to celebrate yourself and all of your ‘wins’ along the way. We hope this episode empowers you to embrace imperfection; progress IS a beautiful thing, and ultimately, your mindset matters when it comes to your healing! In today’s episode, Mindset Matters: Shifting Perspectives to Empower Healing, we’re covering:How changing your mindset in order to heal can be difficult, but totally possible tooLearning to ‘flip the switch’ and get out of the ‘victim’ mentality, so you can tackle any obstacles ahead of youThe powerful mindset shift that happens when you DO believe you have what it takes + why a positive mindset is similar to compound interestGetting out of the ‘all or nothing’ mindset and celebrating your wins, instead of feeling defeated for not doing enoughUnderstanding that 2 things can be true at once + holding space for progress, not perfection**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 24. Understanding Stress Urinary Incontinence: Myths, Causes, and Treatments

When you think of pelvic floor therapy, chances are you also think of stress urinary incontinence (aka urinary ‘leakage’). This is probably the most widely-known (and definitely most common) issue associated with pelvic floor therapy, and it’s something we are very familiar with as pelvic floor therapists!Unfortunately, there are quite a few myths surrounding this topic, so we wanted to debunk those here. In today’s conversation, we’re discussing what stress urinary incontinence is, and who is affected (*hint - it’s not only postpartum women or those of a ‘certain’ age!). We’re diving into the root causes and symptoms of stress urinary incontinence, how your posture, constipation, nervous system, and even mindset play a critical role, our thoughts on pelvic floor devices like the EMSELLA chair, and more.Pelvic floor therapy is never a one-size-fits-all. It’s vital that you get to the root cause of WHY you’re experiencing symptoms like stress urinary incontinence, so you can improve your pelvic health and overall wellness. We get to see how transformational and truly life-changing pelvic floor therapy can be every single day as we’re treating our patients. We hope this episode gave you some valuable insights on how to manage stress urinary incontinence, and ultimately, better connect with your pelvic floor! In today’s episode about understanding stress urinary incontinence, we’re covering:What stress urinary incontinence isThe myth that only women who have had children or are of a certain age are affected by stress urinary incontinenceCommon symptoms that present with stress urinary incontinenceHow factors like poor posture, constipation, and your nervous system really come into play Why a thorough pelvic floor assessment is essential before undergoing any sort of treatmentBeing cautious with pelvic floor ‘devices’ + why pelvic rehab is a comprehensive and cost-effective solution**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 22. Normalizing Periods: Empowering Girls Through Open Conversations About Their Menstrual Cycles

Today’s episode is a fun one, because we’re chatting all things periods and menstrual health! While this is a topic that we’re excited to bring more awareness to, we also know it can feel daunting, and honestly, something we put off talking about with our daughters for as long as possible. As a mom (Megan) whose daughter recently started her period for the first time, it really hit home the critical role we play as parents in guiding our girls through this major milestone. We shouldn’t feel ‘weird’ discussing menstruation, and we also can’t assume they already know (or fully understand) what’s going on with their bodies. In today’s conversation, we’re talking about normalizing periods, and empowering girls through open conversations about their menstrual cycles. 21. Hands-On Fertility Treatment: Using Visceral Mobilization Techniques to Relieve Pain and Optimize Reproductive Health (Part 4)

We’re excited to be wrapping up our fourth and final episode in our hands-on fertility treatment series! Today’s episode is going to cover more of what you would expect in a typical session with us - the hands-on work, and more specifically, visceral mobilization techniques. As seasoned pelvic health physical therapists, we’ve learned how crucial proper mobility is when it comes to particular organs and tissues within the body. In today’s conversation, we’re discussing visceral mobilization techniques, and how this greatly impacts reproductive organs like the uterus and ovaries, as well as nearby organs like the bladder. We’re sharing what it looks like to implement lymphatic drainage and ‘clear the area’, how deep tissue work can really facilitate the body to correct itself, why painful periods shouldn’t be a normal thing for you, our intensely emotional and physical experiences with ovarian mobilization, and more. The human body is deeply intricate, and very connected. Being able to restore the body to how it was created to function, and identify areas of restriction so you do have good movement can create a powerful ripple effect you didn’t know was possible! While the physical transformation is incredible, the emotional one can be even more so (which we both know firsthand). We want to get your body in the healthiest and most optimized place, whether you’re trying to improve fertility or not. We hope this series has both educated and empowered you when it comes to your fertility and overall health, because knowledge IS power! In today’s episode about visceral mobilization techniques, we’re covering:What the ‘local listening’ technique entails + using manual therapy to expertly assess and treat patientsHow we support with lymphatic drainage and what ‘clearing the area’ meansUsing deep tissue work to facilitate the body’s correction + Roxi and Megan’s personal experiences with deep peritoneal treatmentMobilization of the uterus, bladder, and more + understanding that having painful periods actually isn’t normalThe ‘ripple effect’ that happens if you’re not working to improve something within your body that isn’t functioning properlyWhat mobilization of the ovaries can be like + the unforgettable experiences both Megan and Roxi had with ovarian mobilization**Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice. 19. Hands-On Fertility Treatment: Understanding the Roles of the Endocrine System and Nutrition on Fertility (Part 2)

Today’s episode will be part two in our hands-on fertility treatment series, as we’re continuing on with what we’ve learned in our pelvic rehab fertility specialist certification! Two key topics we want to dive more into is the endocrine system (aka all things hormone health), and nutrition. There really is such an intricate relationship between hormone health, nutrition, and fertility, and we want to bring to light how all of this works together. In today’s conversation, we’re discussing more about the roles of the endocrine system and nutrition, and how they significantly impact fertility. From concepts like naturally tracking your menstrual cycle (which we’ll be diving more into in a future episode) and managing stress, to better understanding key differences of fasting vs. eating balanced meals, we want to share why ALL of these things matter, and why they’re incredibly crucial for optimal fertility. While there is never a one-size-fits-all when it comes to improving fertility and reproductive health, we’ve learned the value in taking a root-cause approach when working with our patients. All of these areas are connected, and it’s important to be aware of everything that you’re putting both into AND onto your body. Whether you’re trying to optimize your health for pregnancy, or simply, improve any frustrating conditions that are affecting your overall health and well-being, this conversation will provide you with plenty of valuable takeaways you can begin implementing right away! In today’s episode about the roles of the endocrine system and nutrition in fertility, we’re covering:What the endocrine system is + the role of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis and how key hormones are connected hereWhy a better understanding of complex conditions affecting our patients will allow us to continue providing quality, in-depth care The value in learning how to naturally track your cycleTaking a holistic, ‘root cause’ approach when it comes to addressing infertility and inflammation in the body Understanding fasting and how this can dramatically impact your ability to conceiveThe importance of nutrition for optimizing fertility + common dietary mistakes to avoid Key nutrients and supplements to consider when trying to improve fertility **Disclaimer: The information shared in this podcast is NOT meant to be taken as individual or medical advice.
