Threshold Moments

Threshold Moments is a podcast about people who follow their hearts to lead their most authentic lives. Along the way they will cross over some thresholds in which it is clear that what once worked, no longer works. The next version is awaiting. The path is unknown, and safety structures will fall away.Once a week, you can expect to hear from incredible guests about the moments that forever changed them. They'll share their messy middles, the things they can now laugh at in retrospect, the lessons they've learned along the way, and the freedom they've found by following the pull. You'll hear about a variety of navigation tools: Some of my guests rely on breathing, fitness, or hot/cold therapy. Some track the moon, their menstrual cycles, their mind set, or sensations in their bodies. Others attune to nature, their spiritual team, and/or dreams.Others use psychedelic medicine and or psychotherapy. No matter the tools, threshold moments tend to be ripe w/ heartbreak, excitement

122 - Wendy Snyder: When Parenting Breaks You Open

In this episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy sits down with parenting educator and family life coach Wendy Snyder to explore a transformative shift in how we understand children's behavior, nervous system regulation, and the dynamics of power in the parent-child relationship. Wendy introduces a radically different framework for parenting strong-willed children; moving away from punishment, shame, and control, and toward connection, compassion, and what she calls "democratic firm and kind parenting." Together, Sarah and Wendy unpack what it really means when a child resists, pushes back, or escalates—and how those moments can be seen not as defiance, but as communication. They also explore how parenting becomes a mirror for our own nervous system patterns, why repair matters more than perfection, and how breaking generational cycles often requires both courage and practice in real-time, imperfect moments. In This Episode, We Explore: What "strong-willed" actually means (and why it's often misunderstood) The difference between authoritarian, permissive, and democratic parenting Why misbehavior is often communication—not defiance How nervous system regulation changes parenting responses Tools for dissolving power struggles without punishment or shame Why repair after rupture is essential for both parent and child development How children learn emotional intelligence through modeled conflict resolution What it looks like to raise kids who can take responsibility without fear Sibling conflict as a skill-building opportunity, not a problem to eliminate About the Guest Wendy Snyder is a Certified Positive Parenting Educator, Family Life Coach, and founder of Fresh Start Family, where she helps families ditch fear-based discipline and raise strong, emotionally healthy kids with compassion and confidence. Through her podcast, courses, and coaching programs, she's guided thousands of parents to break painful generational cycles and create homes rooted in connection, peace, and purpose. She is the author of the upcoming book Fresh Start Your Family: Powerful Parenting to Restore Peace in Your Home. Wendy lives in Southern California with her husband Terry—her high school sweetheart—and their two kids, where they're rewriting their own family legacy, one grace-filled day at a time. 121 - Dana B. Myers: The Art and Magic of Allowing

In this rich and playful conversation, Sarah sits down with returning guest Dana Meyers—former founder of Booty Parlor, author, tarot reader, ritualist, and self-described "business witch"—to explore what unfolded after selling the company she built for 20 years. For over twenty years, she has built brands, led communities, and helped people reconnect to their joy, intuition, and personal power. The question she's exploring now is: What happens when you stop forcing outcomes and start allowing life to surprise and delight you? Dana shares the threshold of releasing an identity tied to achievement, stepping into the unknown, and learning to trust a new way of living rooted in intuition, creativity, pleasure, and flow. Together, Sarah and Dana talk about motherhood, money, nervous system patterns, parenting teens, the wheel of life seasons, and how ritual can help us move through stuckness and reconnect with our own power. This episode is a reminder that sometimes the next chapter can arrive through allowing (a pattern interrupt for most of us!). Dana leaves us with a few rituals we can use as we transition into spring! In This Episode, We Explore: What it felt like to sell the business that shaped Dana's identity Why "allowing" feels so new and exciting for her The difference between forcing outcomes vs trusting timing How panic-promoting shows up in business and life Why Dana says, "My true wealth is my happy home" The role of evidence in building trust with yourself Parenting teenagers and learning to listen instead of fix How ritual and spell work create movement during hard seasons Using creativity as medicine for stuckness, grief, and change Practical spring rituals for pleasure, cleansing, and renewal Dana first joined Sarah in Season Two for a powerful conversation on pleasure, intimacy, relationships, motherhood, and reclaiming desire. 120 - Elisabeth Kristof Q&A: Staying Regulated During Expansion

What happens when you are no longer in crisis, but you are not yet fully yourself? Most nervous system conversations start at the bottom — trauma, shutdown, survival mode. This one starts in the middle. That in-between place where you have done real work, you can see the progress, and somehow it still feels harder than you thought it would by now. In this episode I sat down live with my Juice members (a nervous system reset- movement membership) for a Q&A conversation with Elisabeth Kristof. She is the founder of Neurosomatic Intelligence, co-host of the Apple Top 100 podcast Trauma Rewired, and one of the leading voices applying neurology to complex trauma resolution. Elisabeth has been working in neuro and movement based therapies since 2007, and what she brings to this conversation is both the science and the lived humanity of it. We go into what it actually looks like to heal in real time. The burnout. The rebuilding. The cycles of expansion and contraction that nobody warns you about. The difference between regulating your emotions and suppressing them. And why resourcing sometimes opens the door to more feeling, not less. If you have ever wondered why this work takes as long as it does, this conversation will make you feel less alone in that question, and more oriented inside the process. Together, we explore what it actually looks like to live this work in real time, moving beyond theory into the lived, messy, human experience of nervous system healing. This conversation weaves science and story, physiology and poetry, as we explore: What it means to feel "stuck in the middle" — not in crisis, but not fully thriving and how nervous system can really help for performance not just trauma resolution The reality of burnout, depletion, and rebuilding capacity over time Why healing isn't linear (and often includes cycles of expansion and contraction) The difference between emotional regulation and emotional suppression What it looks like to begin this work with curiosity and self-compassion Why resourcing can sometimes open the door to more feeling—not less How to stay with yourself through intensity, discomfort, and the unknown You'll hear powerful reflections on liminal space, rehabilitation, and the slow return to aliveness—along with an honest look at how long this work can take, and why that's not a failure, but part of the process. 119 - Elisabeth Kristof: Somatics & Nervous System for Wealth

In this episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy sits down with Elisabeth Kristof, founder of Brain-Based Wellness and Neuro Somatic Intelligence (NSI), and co-host of the podcast Trauma Rewired. Together, they explore the intersection of applied neurology, somatic practices, and nervous system rehabilitation for personal growth and healing. In this episode, Sarah's focus on subtle somatic presence and co-regulation meets Elisabeth's applied neurology tools for practical, everyday nervous system support. They discuss: How early experiences and adverse childhood events (ACE scores) shape nervous system patterns and lifelong coping mechanisms. Elisabeth's personal story with early hardship and addiction and how these nervous system practices have brought so much stability and agency into her life. The journey from high-achievement and perfectionism to deeper nervous system regulation and self-awareness. Practical tools to "re-pattern" the nervous system, from modulation and resourcing to body mapping and balance training. The importance of slowing down, allowing for presence, and integrating small, doable practices into daily life. Stories of transformation, including managing dysregulation, chronic stress, and high activation in everyday life. How NSI bridges the gap between athletic performance, trauma recovery, and personal growth, creating tools that are actionable, personalized, and sustainable. Whether you're interested in somatics, applied neurology, or nervous system wellness, this conversation offers insights for anyone looking to understand their body's responses, create lasting change, and live more fully in their own nervous system. More on Elisabeth: Elisabeth Kristof is an MA in Applied Neurology, somatic practitioner, and co-host of the Apple Top 100 podcast Trauma Rewired. Working in neuro- and movement-based therapies since 2007, she has become a leading voice in applying neurology to complex trauma resolution. After witnessing the harm that can occur when practitioners lack nervous system literacy, Elisabeth created the Neurosomatic Intelligence Coaching Certification to train coaches in safe, precise trauma-informed work. 118 - Kaitlyn Carlson Q&A: Planning for Support

In this special Q&A episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy is joined by financial strategist Kaitlyn Carlson for an honest, grounded conversation with members of the JUICE community. Kaitlyn Carlson is the founder of Theory Planning Partners a wealth building firm. She brings experience from advising some of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in America. Kaitlyn's work blends financial mastery with intuition, action with intention, and strategy with sustainability — offering a grounded, empowering perspective on wealth that benefits both visionary founders and everyday high achievers who want to grow their money wisely and well. Together, they explore what it really looks like to stand at a personal threshold, the moment where authenticity calls you forward but certainty hasn't arrived yet. Through live audience questions, Kaitlyn shares the behind-the-scenes reality of leaving a stable but soul sucking job to build something new. What she would do differently if she were to go back, and what small internal shifts create lasting transformation, and why financial systems, and our relationship to money, may be more expansive than we've been taught to believe. Also can capitalism really be regenerative? This conversation moves beyond mindset into practical, emotional, and philosophical territory: from trusting inner whispers to redefining capitalism, building sustainable business foundations, and taking the first doable steps toward financial stability (doing something is better than doing nothing!). If you've ever felt the pull toward a new version of yourself but wondered how people actually make the leap, this episode offers both reassurance and real-world guidance. In This Episode, We Explore: What it means to stand at a threshold of authenticity The "micro inner movements" that create big life changes Why courage often looks messy, uncertain, and incremental Trusting intuition while still making practical decisions Meditation as a tool for clarity and nervous system regulation Surrounding yourself with people who can hold belief for you Building frameworks that create sustainable transformation A new perspective on regenerative capitalism Moving from scarcity thinking to value creation Beginner-friendly first steps toward investing and financial stability Connect with Sarah Follow Sarah on Instagram @sarahtacyt Learn more about Sarah's work Join Sarah's email list Join Kate Northrup's free 3-day workshop Good With Money (affiliate link) Connect with Kaitlyn Follow Kaitlyn on Instagram Connect with Kaitlyn

117 - Kaitlyn Carlson: Money, Power, and Your Heart

In this episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy sits down with wealth strategist and financial planner Kaitlyn Carlson for a deeply personal conversation about identity, integrity, and redefining success. Kaitlyn Carlson is the founder of Theory Planning Partners who once upon a time advised some of the wealthiest men in America, but stepped in a new direction to stay devoted to a way of higher integrity. After seeing how the biggest players in the game were positioned for exponential wealth creation, and the financial advisors making plans to benefit themselves, and the abuse she experienced as a woman in that field, she felt called to build a model rooted in greater transparency, deep care, and long-term stewardship. What begins as a story about an unexpected friendship unfolds into a powerful exploration of what it means to live beyond binary choices — between ambition and alignment, structure and intuition, achievement and freedom. Kaitlyn shares her journey from a fiercely competitive childhood athlete and national championship hockey player to a successful career in finance, revealing how early experiences shaped her belief in equality, resilience, and possibility. Along the way, she discovered that true wealth isn't just financial — it's emotional, relational, and deeply personal. Together, Sarah and Kaitlyn explore the idea of the "sacred third" — a path that exists beyond the traditional either/or choices many high-achieving women feel forced to make. This conversation dives into the psychology of money, the importance of representation and opportunity, and how integrity becomes the foundation for both financial freedom and personal joy. In this episode, we explore: Kaitlyn's journey from competitive hockey to wealth strategy Growing up believing opportunity should be equal — and living that belief How sports shaped resilience, confidence, and leadership The intersection of psychology and financial decision-making The concept of the Freedom Number and redefining wealth Integrity as a guiding principle in business and life Moving beyond patriarchal success models Creating a "sacred third" path between ambition and authenticity Connect with Sarah Follow Sarah on Instagram @sarahtacyt Learn more about Sarah's work Join Sarah's email list Join Kate in the free 3-day workshop Good With Money (affiliate link) Connect with Kaitlyn Follow Kaitlyn on Instagram Connect with Kaitlyn

113 - Deep Roots & Rich Soil: The Gift of Thresholds

Today's episode is for you if you're in the midst of a threshold and wondering how you'll make it through. When certain parts of our identity are stripped away, we go into the fertile void. In that space, we may not be able to find the rhyme or reason why it's happening, but I promise that the darkness enriches us all the same. Join me as I dip into the past decade of my practice and offer reflections on how to feels to be in the middle and make it to the other side. 112 - Awe is the Love Language of the Nervous System

I once heard from a teacher that awe might be one of the first reflexes we have as babies: eyes wide, breath held in wonder, taking in the world for the very first time. I haven't found a study to prove it, but it feels true—the impulse to point, to name, to exclaim, "Look at that! And that over there!" The small hand tugging toward something marvelous, seemingly ordinary, yet entirely new. Where trauma narrows our world, awe expands it. It brings our breath into the back body, our perspective into wholeness. Awe is an invitation to pause and ask: is there anything ordinary that for a moment I could honor as extraordinary? In this episode, I share a personal story where I embraced awe and how it changed my perspective on everyday life. 111 - I Want Calm! (or do I?)

Many of my clients come to me craving calm — slower mornings, quieter children, less chaos in their day-to-day. That sense of peace is a beautiful goal, but I also like to remind them: calm alone isn't the full picture of nervous system regulation. In this episode, we explore the pendulum between safety and activation — how to embrace life's natural rhythms, rather than resist them. I also offer reframes for resonance, aliveness, and the tidal waves of life. Tune in for an invitation to get curious about living in range. Life isn't just about calm. 099 - What is the Nervous System?

Welcome, dear listeners. Today, we continue our exploration of nervous system healing with a lesson on the reticular activating system (RAS) and the power of curiosity. Welcome back to Threshold Moments. Today we're continuing our exploration of nervous system resilience with the transformative power small doable pieces. Sometimes when we feel overwhelmed or find ourselves in a trauma response, we slip into all-or-nothing thinking. And in this episode, I share how this practice works and a few ways that small doable pieces have transformed my business, my parenting, and my life. So if you've ever felt overwhelmed, underwater, or unable to move forward, I hope you'll tune in to learn: The interplay between the nervous system and trauma responses How all-or-nothing thinking can leave us stuck in a freeze state The medicine we find in small doable pieces How to de-stack hard habit & patterns Why I choose to speak slowly & how it helps Because, when we take small doable steps over time, it can change the way we feel, the way we think, and what we believe. When we're in a situation that feels bad, being able to find nuance and a sense of empowerment is so important. But we also get to feel angry, we get to feel tired, we get to feel sad. Now I'm excited to share my story and offer my first nervous system healing program. I hope you'll listen to this episode and stick around for our full fall series about nervous system resilience. ABOUT THIS SHOW
