Spilling the Coach Tea: Pricing, Insurance, and Why Therapy Isn't Always Better
Should you invest in therapy, coaching, or both? And why does this question somehow feel more stressful than picking a health insurance plan? (Which, admittedly, is a very low bar.)In this episode, I'm answering some of the most common questions I hear about coaching and therapy. We talk about whether a degree automatically makes someone better at helping people, why insurance-covered therapy isn't always the bargain it seems, how to choose the right person to support your growth, and why fit matters more than most people realize. Along the way, I share a few stories from my own experiences, including a truly unforgettable 15-minute mental health appointment that left me wondering if I needed therapy for the therapy. Most importantly, we're talking about the return on investment of working on yourself. Because while a bigger house, a fancy car, or a dream vacation can be lovely, you're still bringing the same brain along for the ride. The skills that help you process emotions, set boundaries, challenge old beliefs, and stay calm when life gets messy? Those are gifts you get to keep forever. If you've been wondering whether investing in your emotional well-being is worth it, this episode is for you.CALM YOUR TITSWhat's that? Tips on Hiring Your First Coach
How do you choose the right therapist or coach when there are so many options... and the stakes feel pretty high?In this episode, we're talking about one of the most overlooked factors in personal growth: the relationship between you and your helper. Yes, training, credentials, and methods matter. But whether you're looking for a therapist, coach, or some other kind of support, research consistently shows that the connection itself is often what creates the biggest shifts. I'll share what I've learned from working with a lot of coaches, seeing several therapists, and investing many thousands of dollars in my own growth. We'll talk about why the most qualified person on paper isn't always the best fit, how to tell if someone's style works for you, and what to look for before investing. We'll also cover how to do your homework when coaching is largely unregulated, why consuming someone's free content can tell you more than a page full of testimonials, and the questions you should ask before signing a contract. If you're wondering whether coaching, therapy, or a particular practitioner is right for you, this episode will help you make a more informed decision, and hopefully save you some time, money, and awkward Zoom calls.CONTACT SARAHInstagram: @missadventurepantsEmail: [email protected] YOUR TITSWhat's that? Coaching, Therapy, or Both? Where to Invest for the Best ROI.
If you’re struggling with your mental health, feeling stuck in life, or wondering whether life coaching or therapy is the better investment, this episode is for you. As someone who has worked as both a therapist and a coach, I’m breaking down the real differences between the two — without the black-and-white internet hot takes. We’ll talk about when therapy is the smartest place to start, when coaching can help you grow faster, and why some people benefit from both. We’re diving into everything from anxiety, trauma, and depression to stress, burnout, boundaries, habits, career transitions, and personal development. Plus, I’ll share some surprising exceptions to the “rules,” including why some coaches can be incredibly effective for deeper emotional work — and why finding the right practitioner matters more than the title on their website. If you’ve ever wondered where to invest your time, energy, and money to actually feel better and move forward, this conversation will help you make a more informed decision. What to Do When You Feel Judged
Ever mess up — and feel like everyone saw?In this episode of the Climb Your Mountain Podcast, life coach Sarah Maurer dives into what to do when you’re feeling judged. Maybe you missed a meeting at work. Yelled at your kid in Target. Snapped at your aging parent. Got dumped and now dread showing up solo to your cousin’s wedding. Sometimes people really are judging. But here’s the deeper truth: it only burns when you’re judging yourself too.We explore why shame hits hardest when you secretly believe you should be better, more perfect, more put-together. Often that harsh inner voice isn’t even yours — it’s an old parent, teacher, coach, or middle school bully living rent-free in your head. This episode covers:Why imagined judgment feels so realThe two common protection patterns: ruthless perfectionism or freezing and playing smallTall poppy syndrome and the fear of visibilityWhy failure is proof you’re in the arenaInspired by Theodore Roosevelt’s “Man in the Arena” quote, this conversation is about choosing courage over criticism. You’ll learn practical life coaching tools to build real self love and self compassion:How to talk to yourself like a supportive coach (not a drill sergeant)Making mistakes an exception, not your identityNormalizing failure as part of growthBuilding emotional strength to handle shame, disappointment, and embarrassment without numbing outWhen you stop joining in on your own judgment, everything changes. How to Experience More Love (No Matter Your Relationship Status)
Raise your hand if you want to feel more love in your life.In this episode of the Climb Your Mountain Podcast, life coach Sarah Maurer explores a belief many of us carry: that love comes from other people. If you’re single and worried you’re missing out… if you’re in a relationship but don’t feel fully loved… or if you secretly believe you’re just “not lovable enough,” this conversation is for you.We unpack the hidden “love manuals” we create — the unspoken rules about how someone must behave for us to feel loved (they must say “I love you,” remember birthdays, help around the house, respond sexually, get us completely). When those rules aren’t followed, we feel rejected, unseen, or alone. But here’s the shift: other people don’t create your feelings. They don’t beam love into you. The emotion of love is created by your thoughts, your beliefs, and the stories you tell yourself. This episode dives into:Why trying to control others to feel loved never worksHow people-pleasing and relationship anxiety are rooted in fear of being unlovedWhy “they hurt my feelings” misses the deeper truthThe powerful reframe: all love is self loveSarah shares practical life coaching tools to help you build real self love and self compassion, including:Noticing harsh self-talkChallenging the story that you’re “lazy,” “too much,” or “not enough”Learning to validate yourselfCelebrating small wins and personal growthWhen you become your own source of love, everything changes. You can enjoy being single. You can speak honestly in relationships. You can stop trying to control your partner’s behavior. You can feel steady and connected — even in lonely seasons. If you’re ready to feel more loving, lovable, and secure from the inside out, this episode is your starting point.Enjoy ❤️ WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? Radical Self Acceptance
What if self-acceptance wasn’t just a feel-good idea—but the key to becoming more effective, motivated, and fulfilled in every area of your life?In this episode of the Climb Your Mountain Podcast, Sarah Maurer explores radical self acceptance and why beating yourself up for “falling short” actually blocks the results you want. If you struggle with shame, harsh self-talk, or the belief that you need to fix yourself to be worthy, this conversation is for you.We dig into the familiar “greatest hits” many high-achievers carry—you’re lazy, you’re too much, you’re not capable, you’re not lovable—and how these thoughts show up in real life: yelling at your kids after a long day, forcing yourself into tight jeans, skipping the gym, overspending, or trying to be smaller and more pleasing than you really are.Sarah breaks down why self-criticism is actually a form of self-protection, why it doesn’t work long-term, and how operating from shame fuels emotional overwhelm, burnout, and inconsistency. Then she offers a powerful alternative: choosing self compassion and believing you are fundamentally good, worthy, and capable exactly as you are.The sooner you practice radical self acceptance, the sooner you create more of what you want—connection, confidence, consistency, and peace.WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? Hypnocoaching for Emotional Regulation and Effortless Change (feat. Wella Jay)
For the first 48 years of my life, my only experience with hypnosis was a stage show at college. The hypnotist told the participants they were in class. They sat looking straight ahead like they were listening to the professor. Suddenly the hypnotist yelled BADGER! and pointed at the ground. And all the participants freaked out and jumped up on their chairs. It was hilarious. But I didn’t exactly associate it with healing and empowerment. It felt kind of coercive, to be honest. When you think about hypnosis, what comes to mind? A bearded guy swinging a gold watch? A cult leader? 😵💫If so, you’re not alone. There are so many misconceptions out there.Which is really a shame, because science suggests hypnosis is a fast and effective way to relieve stress and anxiety. It’s also great for pain management and behavior change.I’ve personally undergone hypnosis to help with guilt, social anxiety, and a driving phobia. And the results feel like a miracle. And as a life coach certified in hypnosis, I’ve seen this modality help clients change faster and with less struggle. But don’t just take it from me!On this week’s episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I’m joined by the amazing Wella Jay. She’s a past client who came to me specifically for hypnosis. In our conversation she opens up about her experiences with hypnocoaching. We dive into:❇️ How clinical hypnosis (the one we do in coaching) actually empowers you to take control of your own healing❇️ What to expect in a typical hypnosis session❇️ Why hypnosis might work better for some people than traditional “talking” methods of coaching❇️ Debunking common myths, e.g. that it’s a form of mind control or manipulation❇️ How hypnosis changed how we see life and ourselves (there’s definitely a spiritual benefit)❇️ Our own experiences and results in hypnotherapy — and how it sometimes surprised us with “bonus” healing we weren’t even looking forIf you’re curious about hypnosis …If you’ve thought about coaching, but dislike the idea of talking about yourself or answering lots of questions …This one is definitely for you!Enjoy! ❤️WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? Life Planning for People Who Hate Goal Setting (The Scribble)
If you’d rather eat broken glass than set new year’s goals, I’ve got a podcast episode for you!So many of us have PTSD around goals. We feel shame about all the times we’ve gone for something in the past … only to fall on our faces.Every time we see a successful person, we assume they did it “right.” (Set goal. Followed up with disciplined action. Got result.)But what if the opposite was actually true? What if creating your dreams is always supposed to look and feel like a shit show? It’s like this drawing. No one escapes the scribble!(Including all those successful people who make it look so easy. Remember, you’re only seeing their after.)The only reason goal-setting hurts is that we massively underestimate the time and energy it will take to create our results. And on this week’s episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I’m going to walk you through:🌺 Why so many people quit on their goals when they’re on the verge of success (and how to avoid it)🌺 Why goals are still worth it (even when they’re hard)🌺 Why it doesn’t matter how much you’ve failed in the past.🌺 Some new ways to look at goals (beyond do-or-die measures of your self-worth)Enjoy! ♥️ WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? The Chaos Antidote: Do Less, But Better
Last week in Mexico, I tried to take the bus to a cenote (swimming hole). I was SURE it would take just 15 minutes to jump on the colectivo (mini-bus).90 minutes later …😭 I’d just walked all over Tulum in the blazing sun trying to get cash for the bus fare …😭 And then walked another 30 minutes looking for the right bus stop😭 I was sweating, dehydrated, frustrated and PISSED because I wanted to get to the cenote early before the crowds😭 I finally caught the damn busWhat went wrong here?Absolutely nothing. This is the way it’s supposed to work. Our brains tell us we can do it faster. But our brains are wrong.By planning only for the best-case scenario, we create a lot of frustration for ourselves. We end up feeling stressed, behind, incapable, and overwhelmed.Life feels chaotic. We’re late for everything. And we quit on our dreams because we think they’re taking too long. (When really we just underestimated the time and effort required.)So this week’s episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, let’s talk about a new way to plan. One that factors in delays, missteps, friction, and obstacles. It’s incredibly simple. And if you’re setting 2026 intentions, it will save you so much heartache!Enjoy. ❤️ WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? New Years Pep Talk: There's no such thing as a wasted year
If you didn’t end the year like you’d hoped …If there were goals you didn’t reach …If you feel more stuck than ever …Then you’re probably beating yourself up for wasting time. You might be buying into the punishing idea that it’s actually possible to MAXIMIZE your time. By doing everything right.By never failing or getting distracted. And by always finishing what you start. If so, here’s what I want to offer you.(This always blows my clients’ minds.)Friend, there is no such thing as wasting time. The word “wasting” implies that you have perfect control. You don’t.And in fact, trying to be perfect can actually make your time management WORSE.On this week’s episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, we’ll talk about how to break free from this toxic belief. How to find sufficiency with exactly where you’re at.And why it’s still totally possible for you to succeed — even if it didn’t happen this year. What's the Point of Life (Coaching)?
How do you know you're doing life "right?"It's a question that can come up at midlife, at the end of an era — or anytime in our disconnected, technology-numbed-out world.🤔 A lot of people try to get life "right" by doing the socially approved things — prestigious job, 2.5 kids, house in the burbs.🤔 Some look to social media likes and follows to know if they're on the right path.🤔 Others find a high-control religion or guru to tell them their purpose.None of these options is necessarily "wrong."But too often, we take these actions from fear. Our unconscious fear of being cast out of our community because we're not relevant or important enough. And none of these touches the core question: Who are we really? What do we have to give that no one else can see?So if you're ready to finally meet your purpose, this episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast is for you. This week, I'm going to walk you through my two-part framework for a purposeful life. This will be like nothing you've ever heard before. No aptitude tests. No interest inventories. No empty platitudes about the meaning of it all.Just an invitation to get super intimate with yourself. And let that knowledge light a fire that changes you — and the world — forever.Enjoy!WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? Using AI for Therapy and Coaching (My Honest Thoughts)
Did you know that 70% of people have used an AI like ChatGPT for therapy, coaching, or emotional support? So if you've ever tried this — or use it daily — you're far from alone. You may also have heard negative news coverage around using AI for mental health support. (For example, many states and professional organizations are calling for greater regulations and passing restrictions into law.)Naturally, you might wonder: Is it safe to talk to AI about my problems? Could it be doing me more harm than good?I think it's time to have a nuanced conversation about this.In today's episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I'll share some of my own experiences asking the AI for coaching.Spoiler alert: I actually think it does some things really well. And I'll also share some of the limitations I've noticed. These aren't necessarily reasons NOT to use it, but they ARE helpful to be aware of.With any kind of coaching (human or AI), you want to be a savvy consumer. And this podcast will help you think critically about the coaching you receive. It will help you decide whether your particular problem/question is a good case for AI coaching — or something better addressed by a human coach. When you know the difference, you'll always be able to connect to the right kind of help. And you'll change faster and feel better sooner.Enjoy!WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? [Pre Epic 4] How to Believe New Things on Purpose
PRE EPIC SERIESLast month, I shared a series called Do Your Epic Shit. And some common feedback was:"This is amazing. AND. I don't feel like this is my starting point. I'm just overwhelmed, dysregulated, confused, and not able to take even small steps.First I'd love to learn the basics. The foundational skills that will allow me to play hard and tolerate the discomfort of doing bigger things."Friends, that makes SO much sense. It's actually where I start with most of my 1:1 clients. So this month on the podcast, we're laying the foundation with a new weekly series on Pre Epic Skills!THIS WEEKIf you're a big strategy person, you may sometimes find yourself bewildered when your best laid plans don't produce the results you want. You may spend time creating the most amazing, most scientifically based, most foolproof action plan. And then you go out strong. But two weeks later ... you crash and burn 🔥.Maybe you've been doing this boom and bust cycle all your life. You might be convinced that you're doom to fail.Friend, if this is you, I want you to know there's hope. You're not doomed. You are 100% capable. Here's what's been missing. It's not the actions you take that determine your results. It's the thoughts and emotions driving those actions. If you're actioning from a place of shame, urgency, pressure, and dread, taking action is going to feel AWFUL.You might be able to grind it out for a little while. But eventually, it will become too painful to sustain. That's the part where you quit — and then tell yourself that you're lazy, not good enough, always fail, etc., etc.And here's the amazing part. What if all you need to do to keep going is to tell yourself a new story that feels better? That's exactly what you're going to learn in this week's episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast. You can believe anything you want.So let's get you believing the opposite of what hurts.Enjoy!WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? [Pre Epic 2] How to Create Safety and Security for Yourself
So this month on the podcast, we're laying the foundation with a new weekly series on Pre Epic Skills!THIS WEEKIn the latest episode of Climb Your Mountain, we're going to answer an important question: how can you feel safe and secure in a world where so many bad things happen?Safety is one of our deepest needs. If you're a parent, you know that toddlers need a secure base to explore from. They need to feel that if they run off, get into things, and fall on their butts, a loving parent will always be there to scoop them up and cuddle them. And adults are the same!Without a sense of security, you feel paralyzed. You play it safe and do what you've always done. You worry that if you step out of your comfort zone, you'll never get back in.But you can't rely on anyone else to provide safety. It's something you have to create for yourself with your thoughts. And on today's episode, I'll show you how. Enjoy!WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? [PRE EPIC 1] How to Figure Out Where You Want to Go
PRE-EPIC SERIESThanks so much to everyone who tuned in for my "Do Your Epic Shit Series" last month and offered their feedback. One thing I'm hearing loud and clear from many of you: This all sounds great ... one day. But I honestly don't feel ready to even start doing hard things!Friend, that makes so much sense. When I think about my clients, very few of them came into coaching ready to immediately storm the gates of their dreams! Most of them started by learning foundation skills: things like regulating their emotions, finding sufficiency and safety, and managing their thoughts on purpose. So this October on the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I'm going to walk you through the top foundational skills you need to master before you really go for it!This is the stuff that makes "the going for it" easier, faster, and more fun. Ready? Let's do this!THIS EPISODEIn Week One of the Pre-Epic Series, we're going to dive into a big question: What the hell should I be doing with my life, anyway? This is a completely normal question anytime, but it's especially common after a big life transition (graduation, breakup, last kid leaving home, etc.).A career counselor might invite you to take an aptitude test, go job shadowing, and dive right into applying for jobs.I approach this question differently.I encourage you to start showing up to your current circumstances as your highest self. As a person who is fulfilled, grateful, enough, and driven to contribute. Most of us don't feel fulfilled and purposeful right now because we're sleepwalking through life. It's engaging with your current circumstances — no matter how crappy — that shows you who you really are and where you want to go. When you're living fully in the moment, your future path will reveal itself so easily. And you'll also be able to see and seize on opportunities that will move you into even greater fulfillment.Tune it to learn more! WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? How to Get There Faster
Whether, you're trying to lose 10 pounds, find your person, or sell your first screenplay — we all want to make our dreams happen faster. This might lead you to rush. You might set unrealistic timelines.Try to do all the things at once. And try to make it happen from a place of urgency. But the truth is: trying to rush actually slows you down. You feel more resistance.More confusion. There's more internal pressure to do it perfect the first time.Which makes it hard to keep moving forward. So what can you do instead? On this week's episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I'm going to teach you the concept of "small steps fast."It's all about breaking big tasks down into small ones. And then quickly taking action, evaluating, and acting again. It sounds like slowing down. But you're about to learn why it's always the fastest way to get there. And also how it sets you up for the big quantum leaps where you collapse time in ways that feel magical.Enjoy!WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? Shaming Yourself for Being Selfish
Self-care. It's nice for twenty-somethings without kids, elderly parents, patients, students, or a demanding job.But you? You have responsibilities. If you don't take care of it all, who will?Setting boundaries feels so selfish.Spending time and money on your own happiness feels like taking it from others. It's almost like what's bad for them is good for you.Friend, if you're feeling this, I want you to consider ...That the complete opposite is actually true.As the caregiver, you are the asset.Your are creating massive value for others and the world. What's bad for you is bad for everyone. And what's good for you is good for everyone. So on this week's episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I'm going to show you that self-care isn't just "nice to have." It's actually your ethical duty as a human and a helper. And that means it sometimes has to come before the needs and wants of others. If this feels impossible to believe, don't worry. I'm going to walk you through it one thought at a time.So you can start prioritizing your health. And that vitality can ripple out from you to the world.WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? Taking Responsibility for Your Results
Do you feel stuck, like nothing ever changes in your life? Then ask yourself this question: Where am I NOT taking responsibility for my results? The answer might not be obvious. Your brain loves to protect you from failure, judgment, and negative emotion by giving away your power in sneaky ways.🧠 Making your kids the reason you don't leave that relationship.🧠 Making your partner the reason you don't spend money🧠 Making your busy work schedule the reason you don't travel. Giving away responsibility might earn you approval points in the short-term.But the long-term result is a "default" life. One that feels like it's been chosen for you against your will.Friend, that is not the existance you deserve. And that's why on today's episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I'm going to show you how to recognize where you're delegating important decisions ...💪 and how to take back your power, even when it feels wicked uncomfortable. When you start showing up as the leader of your own life, you might disappoint others. But you will never disappoint YOU.Let's do this!WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? Getting Guidance From Your Intuition
You've probably heard that the secret to feeling calmer, getting more done, and living a life you love summed up in two words: TRUST YOURSELF.But you don't trust your own brain one bit!Cause your brain is a spaz. 🤪 Anytime you get a grumpy email from your boss, it tells you you're getting fired.Anytime your partner seems distant, it tells you they don't love you anymore.Anytime you get an unexpected bill, it tells you that you can't afford it ... and now you're going to end up homeless and living in a box.So how the hell can you trust that deep pull you feel to start a business, go back to school, or take your relationship to the next step? Here's good news.Intuition is real. It's powerful. It's TOTALLY different from your thoughts (which tend to be loud and anxious). And you can learn to tap into it to get guidance from the best source on earth: yourself. In today's episode of Climb Your Mountain, I'm going to show you exactly how to do that.So you can stop being kicked around by your anxiety and social programming — and get busy doing your epic shit in this lifetime!Enjoy ❤️ WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? Why waiting around for a better time always backfires
"I'll start that business ... just as soon as things calm down.""It'll be easier to get my masters ... once my littles are in school.""I'm going to bike across the wine region of Italy ... just as soon as I retire!"Have you ever put off a dream because you're waiting for a better time? You're not alone. So many of my clients are waiting for "the right time" to start creating their FY life. But what if "the right time" never comes? What if "normal life" isn't some magic calm period that always comes back around if we hang on long enough? What if "normal life" is actually your car breaking down, a surprise work trip, your dog needing surgery, your small volunteer commitment morphing into a full-time job, and your landlord doubling the rent ... possibly all at once? When we let go of the fantasy that life will calm down, it's easier to jump NOW. (Which let's be honest, is almost always the best time.)And in this week's episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I show you exactly why moving faster is usually better — and what you can do to take that scary first step.Enjoy!RESOURCES MENTIONEDDie with Zero by Bill Perkins (Aff. link) WORK WITH SARAHCurious about how life coaching can help you? How to create more free time and space in your life
Time-starved. That was me.Every morning, I'd make my to-do list. And by the end of the day, it would be LONGER, not shorter. All day long, I raced from task to task — and then from my home office to my mom's assisted living to the run club happy hour.If — heaven forbid — I was bored for a minute, I took it as an invitation to dive into my Trello project backlog. (Which was extensive.)I was constantly in motion. But never quite getting anywhere. Stuck at the same weight, run splits, drinks per week, business earnings, etc.And honestly, starting to look like a shipwrecked castaway because I couldn't even find the time to get a haircut 🏴☠️ 😂 Then one principle turned it all around: Essentialism. It's the concept of doing less better. You see, I'd bought into the dangerous myth that I could have it all.No one can. When you make the hard but clear-eyed decision to focus on what's most important RIGHT NOW, your life will change. So much space will open up in your life. And you won't be afraid of it, because you'll also realize that doing big things requires time and space to think.Yes, it turns out being a little bored is actually good for you!Ready to embrace essentialism? I finished a trail marathon in May and was gunning for my first post-Covid 50K in June. And then bam. Setbacks!COVID struck again, followed by a drug-resistant UTI. Even when it’s not stressful, they’ll typically find a way to make it stressful.” – Gordon Flett“Socially prescribed perfectionism, characterized by the feeling that others have high demands, is the most strongly correlated with serious mental illness.” – Thomas CurranWe'll cover:Common traits and challenges faced by perfectionists, including the constant need to meet high expectations—both self-imposed and socially prescribed. My own journey as an only child and high academic achiever, grappling with the intense family pressure of being the "perfect" daughter. #90 – What I learned from spilling three drinks in 24 hours
In this week's episode of Climb Your Mountain, I share the story of an unfortunate series of drink spills ... and the surprising lessons that came from them. From embarrassment and guilt to spiritual insight and self-kindness, this story goes deeper than just clumsiness. It’s about learning to be kinder to myself and embracing the imperfections we all have.Key Takeaways:The spills: On vacation, after a long hike, I spilled a beer, red wine, and another beer in quick succession. Each time, I was met with generosity and kindness, rather than the scorn I expected.Emotional reaction: I was exhausted and embarrassed, but it also revealed my pattern of being hard on myself, feeling like I don’t deserve to take up space when I make mistakes.People-pleasing roots: Growing up as a people pleaser and peacemaker, I’ve always hated causing trouble, and these spills triggered that deep-seated discomfort. The universe’s message: Talking with a friend led me to see these spills as a spiritual lesson. The universe was offering me opportunities to learn self-compassion and release the need for perfection.Learning to be kinder: Through this experience, I realized that people might actually respond with generosity and understanding, even when I mess up.Work With Me: If you’re a pressured perfectionist who'd not where you want to be with your health and fitness, I’d love to help you shift into a kinder and more sustainable approach. #88 – How I'm Training Smarter-Not-Harder This Summer
I used to believe when it came to exercise, more was always more.Especially for a multisport athlete who is running, backpacking, mountaineering and wanting to be ALWAYS READY TO ROLL at a moment's notice. Also, as I cruised toward 50, I felt like I needed to work harder just to maintain a certain level of performance. But this summer, I got tired of being exhausted.Tired of grinding through my day job.Tired of feeling irritated with every little thing. (Like I would knock over a can of Seltzer and fly into a rage.)Tired of starting each weekend adventure exhausted from the last weekend adventure.Tired of feeling spacey and not fully connected while coaching my clients. So I did a crazy thing.😱 I actually cut back my workouts by 30%.And you know what? I am absolutely loving the results! I feel like I'm actually performing BETTER on my adventures. And having more time and energy for everyone else in my life.In this week's episode of the Climb Your Mountain podcast, I'll pull back the curtain and share exactly how I started working out smarter and not harder. We'll go through the full before and after.(And also why I didn't do it sooner. I had a lot of insecurities about cutting back. But they were just lies my brain was telling me.)I hope this gives you so much permission to stop grinding and create a more joyous and sustainable fitness life!COACH WITH SARAH:Email questions to [email protected] ORSchedule a free discovery call
