Unscripted Life Update: Coparenting, Un-Posturing, and Going Viral
We’re back with another off-the-cuff life update after having a breakdown last weekend that truly set me free. I go into the challenges of coparenting, transition days, the inner collapse that always follows, and letting it all be as it is.It’s a new level of freedom when I began to allow myself to fall apart without fixing it, labeling it, or rushing myself back into productivity.I share about the moment I craved connection and the viral post that followed, reminding me of the power that comes with vulnerability and allowing myself to be seen in the messy truth of it all. While putting myself on display in these moments is hard, I can’t deny that “un-posturing” feels like such a necessary part of my healing, and apparently the healing of thousands of others (based on my viral IG post…).Highlights:(05:02) - The internal collapse that happens every time my son leaves (09:27) - What it felt like to let the “mess” actually just be part of the natural cycle of coparenting (14:19) - Keeping it real when people ask me (and I ask me) if coparenting gets easier with time (19:51) - How my years of posturing was a survival mechanism and the ways I did this with myself (24:40) - When going viral opens the floodgates to lots of resonance and support - and of course the “trolls” who need love the most (29:35) - Why the messy, imperfect version of you is the one people actually connect withResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. The Postpartum Journey They Never Saw Coming w/ Sandy & Wade Critides - (PART 2)
*TRIGGER WARNING - mention of postpartum depression and postpartum psychosisIn this episode, I’m back with Sandy and Wade for part two of their story, and this one goes much deeper.Sandy shares what happened after the birth of their son, from extreme sleep deprivation and non-epileptic seizures to resurfaced childhood trauma, postpartum psychosis, and multiple psychiatric hospitalizations. We delicately revisit the horrific lack of care, Sandy’s retraumatization, and the numerous times Wade had to bust her out back into real life where the future was more than uncertain. We talk about what it took to keep going when life felt completely unrecognizable, what this season demanded from their marriage and family, and the role faith and healing have played in rebuilding their lives. This is a story about surviving the impossible, fighting for Sandy’s recovery in a system that is more harmful than helpful, and allowing an unimaginably difficult chapter to give them a whole new level of strength and connection.Highlights:(08:01) - The birth experience that marked the beginning of a much bigger postpartum crisis(11:57) - The moment Sandy asked for prayer because she knew she could not carry this alone(13:04) - The traumatizing childhood memory that resurfaced after 24 years and changed everything(18:08) - When postpartum psychosis was finally named and the psych ward nightmares(25:46) - The point where the whole family was running on empty and knew they needed more help(34:24) - One year later: deeper faith, a stronger marriage, and turning pain into purposeAdditional Links:Learn more about The Bridge Recovery Center Follow Sandy & Wade on InstagramTune into their podcast, Getting Magnetic to listen to their 3-part series about Sandy’s birth and postpartum journey:Listen on AppleListen on SpotifyResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Burning the Blueprint: Finances, Family, and Faith w/ Sandy & Wade Critides (PART 1)
Such an honor to interview my dear friends, Sandy & Wade Critides - entrepreneurs, mentors, and parents of three who’ve spent the last decade building businesses and intentionally designing a life around freedom, family, faith, and purpose. These two incredible humans came into my life only a few short years ago, but have expanded me in massive ways just by being in their presence. They operate on a frequency individually and as a family that is against what we are taught in society, taking leaps that are considered illogical and carving paths that most may consider high risk.We dive into the life events that have inspired them to burn the “safe” templates we were handed and and the belief systems they’ve developed to lead with grace, unwavering faith, and conviction in everything they do. Highlights:(05:44) - How one Instagram hashtag led to a friendship that changed everything(15:00) - Baby best friends, family history, and the love story that technically started in the womb(18:02) - The devastating loss that ultimately redirected Sandy’s entire life(25:20) - The text that finally admitted what both of them had been feeling(31:00) - The Matterhorn proposal that felt like a movie(49:11) - The accidental LinkedIn post that got Wade fired and pushed them fully into entrepreneurshipAdditional Links:Follow Sandy & Wade on Instagram Tune into their podcast, Getting Magnetic to listen to their 3-part series about Sandy’s birth and postpartum journey:Listen on Apple Listen on Spotify Resources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Book 2 Sneak Peek - An Unplanned Detour: Fear, Sex & A French Chateau
This episode feels especially vulnerable. I’m sharing another excerpt from my upcoming book, this time exploring intimacy, sexuality, shame, worthiness and what it means to stop measuring myself by whether someone chooses me…plus a very exciting next “chapter” for me (pun intended). Tune into my essay, An Unplanned Detour, a deeply personal piece about physical intimacy, a scar that tells a deep story, and finally learning to separate my worth from rejection, relationships, and other people’s choices. This is about allowing ourselves to tell the truth, meet the hidden parts of who we are and love ourselves without containment.Highlights:(05:14) - The Chateau I stalked for years somehow became real(10:30) - A 2am email, a dream opportunity, and the power of finally stepping back into the author in me(15:47) - The moment a mark on my body became about so much more than a scar(20:13) - I am not measured by who chooses me, rejects me or walks away(23:09) - What changed when I realized I had been hiding my own pain from myselfResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Using Social Media for Good: Creating Actual Change for Domestic Abuse Survivors with Chelsey De Groot (PART 2)
What happens when you stop letting fear cripple you and open up about everything you’ve endured? Chances are you’re going to create more change than staying silent. Join us for Part 2 of my powerful interview with Advocate and Leadership Coach, Chelsey De Groot in our Landon Hail Press Author Community. In this episode, I’m joined by Chelsey and members of our author community for a deeply impactful conversation about courage, visibility, and what happens in real life when we let our real lives shape the stories we tell - even if we only have a few hundred social media followers. We talk about sharing sensitive content, building genuine connections instead of chasing viral trends, and why the right message reaching one person can matter more than thousands of views. We also explore identity, advocacy, discomfort, and the choice to keep showing up even when being seen feels terrifying. Highlights:(03:37) - How one judge’s response showed Chelsey that her story could create real change(09:18) - Why the most powerful content often comes directly from the life you’re already living(11:50) - The unexpected conversation with a police officer that proved one post can have massive impact(19:30) - How manufacturing content often means you’re holding back in your real life (23:22) - What actually changes when you finally decide your voice deserves to be heard(31:26) - Owning your story without shrinking, apologizing, or waiting for the perfect momentAdditional links:Visit Chelsey’s website for Support & Leadership Resources: rootsandrisecc.comFollow Chelsey on Instagram for her “Dear Officer” series and more!Resources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Using Social Media for Good: Creating Actual Change for Domestic Abuse Survivors with Chelsey De Groot (PART 1)
I’m joined by author and advocate, Chelsey De Groot for Part 1 of a Guest Interview in the Landon Hail Press Author Community where we talk about the actual difference between impact and entertainment.Chelsey opens up about experiencing domestic violence with her daughter’s father, unexpectedly losing her job, and choosing to finally publish her book, realizing that the hardest disruption in her life became a powerful invitation to move forward. We talk about advocacy, policy change, and how the biggest shifts often happen from the smallest social media accounts because intention will always be more effective than popularity…in real life, that is.Chelsey’s story is a reminder that moving the needle to create systemic change isn’t about followers and likes - it shows up in challenged policies, difficult conversations, and the courage your honesty gives someone else - in Chelsey’s case: Judges, Crowns, and Police Officers.Highlights:(03:52) Why advocacy often requires saying the uncomfortable truth(05:24) Destruction becoming the green light to take the leap(07:56) How rejection opened up channels for change(16:15) The experiences that transformed personal pain into public advocacy(19:50) How one person’s story can influence training, policy, and real impact(24:21) The very bold (and very risky) social media decision that had messages flooding inAdditional links:Visit Chelsey’s website for Support & Leadership ResourcesFollow Chelsey on Instagram for her “Dear Officer” series and more!Resources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Confusion or Denial? Your “I Don’t Know” Is Actually Fear
Get ready for a sneak peek into my powerful session for my dear friend, Princeton Clark’s “Breakthrough Leadership Summit”, where I had the honor of speaking to his incredible community.I get really honest about the BS we tell ourselves and how 99% of the time, “I don’t know” means: “I DO know…and I’m terrified.”You’ll hear about the biggest catalyst in my life that led me to leaving corporate, being thrust into motherhood, finally writing the book I postponed for ten years, and building a publishing company from a truth I almost kept hidden. We explore people-pleasing, vulnerability, self-trust, and why your biggest breakthrough might begin with one uncomfortable conversation.Highlights:(03:01) - Why nobody else can make you braver(06:27) - “I don’t know” is actually fear in disguise(10:04) - The real cost of keeping everyone comfortable(17:05) - Making my son my reason, not my excuse(28:04) - The beliefs, safety, and conditions behind your story(42:28) - The wall in your mind may have an open doorAdditional links:Follow Princeton Clark on Instagram *DM him ‘Breakthrough’ for the link to the full virtual summit! The “M” Word: Why Wealth & Minimalism Are Not Mutually Exclusive
Taking it back to my book, “The Less Effect: Design Your Life For Happiness & Purpose”, diving into Chapter 2: The “M” Word. We unpack two of my favorite subjects: money and minimalism, and why choosing a life of less does not mean settling for less income, opportunity, or impact. Minimalism is about removing what no longer fits so you can create more room for what genuinely matters. We touch on how my own inherited beliefs around money were shaped, challenged, and eventually transformed. From manifestation rituals that got me nowhere to the practical power of clearing physical, emotional, and mental clutter - this episode is a reminder that abundance and simplicity can absolutely co-exist.Highlights:(01:39) - Why minimalism and wealth are not opposites(03:31) - Getting curious: Questioning the money beliefs you inherited(05:27) - Giving yourself permission to want more(07:06) - How negative money beliefs quietly limit your potential(08:18) - The manifestation lesson that changed everything(10:13) - The hill I will die on: Creating space leads to your greatest abundance Resources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Women as Medical Mysteries: Over-Pathologized and Under-Researched
For centuries, women have been labeled as crazy, too emotional, too paranoid, too much - treating intuition, trauma, and assertiveness as problems to be diagnosed or corrected. We continue to pathologize women, yet fail to properly research them.I explore how these patterns show up in the various stages of a woman’s life: adolescence, postpartum, menopause - times to be celebrated, but are instead shamed. We go into the very misguided medical research (or lack thereof), and the way women are often dismissed and gaslit when their knowing is spot on.I also share my personal experience of finally being given a diagnosis after years of the medical system ignoring my condition and manipulating my gut instinct. This conversation is about questioning systems, recognizing the lack of support women receive, and how unraveling what we’ve been taught about women creates a better world for all of us. Highlights:(03:20) - Why women’s emotions get labeled as instability(07:33) - Deconstructing Postpartum Depression and what might actually be happening (14:41) - What isolation and a lack of support really cost mothers(18:18) - The contrast of what Menopause means in other cultures(23:15) - My “mystery” condition solved after decades of medical gaslighting (26:45) - The medical device invented in 1878 still used in its original form for women’s care today Additional Links:Read Unwell Women: Misdiagnosis and Myth in a Manmade World by Elinor CleghornResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Showing Up in the Sh*t: What Grief Taught Me About Business
Join me in a raw conversation on a panel I spoke on less than two months after tragically losing my younger brother. (This will explain my very strained voice after weeks of tears and anguish.)While this may not be the rosy, go-getter conversation typically heard at personal development events, it’s real and honest about how we can keep showing up when life is breaking your heart. This loss has shifted my perspective on everything, stripping away the energy it takes to pretend I’m anywhere other than exactly where I am.We talk about consistency, signs, business pivots, burning the template, and why your truth is always the thing that sets you free. This episode is a reminder that you do not have to be polished to be powerful. You just have to be willing to be exactly who you are.Highlights:(02:36) - Entering my no-f*cks season(03:22) - Why consistency cannot exist without the lows(04:37) - The raw client moment that might make you cringe(05:56) - How signs and synchronicities started pointing the way(07:09) - The feeling that tells me a leap is aligned(09:29) - Why burning the template set me freeResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Why Women Are Superior Leaders: The Science Doesn’t Lie
Today, we’re exposing one of the biggest myths about leadership and backing it with biology, research, and science. It comes down to a hormone that is responsible for keeping humanity alive (not to be dramatic) - and how women are the superior ones in this. I’m breaking down how we as women are wired to constantly read social environments, assess trust, gauge safety, and lead from the “we” rather than the “I.” This is not about women being better than men - it’s about challenging old conditioning, showing the evidence, and understanding that intuition is not hysteria, it primal intelligence for our survival.Highlights: (3:08) - Women and men need to stop trying to do each other‘s job (5:05) - The biology behind human bonding and what it means about each gender (7:20) - How oxytocin affects intuition and the functions in the brain (11:25) - The history behind the first women’s mental disorder diagnosis: “Hysteria” (17:09) - The instagram post that made everything in the entire Universe make sense (22:00) - Why women are called “crazy” (27:30) - “We Should All Be Millionaires”Additional Links:Follow @RhythmsOfHealth on Instagram The oxytocin boosting benefit of female leaders - Samantha WoolvenDo Men and Women Lead Differently? - Chief Learning OfficerAre Women More Effective Leaders than Men? - Kenneth Nowack Women and investing: Key findings and opportunities / Money Fit Women’s Study - FidelityResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. The 10-Hour Countdown Revealed: Being Bold in the Face of Fear
In this episode, I’m able to share the news I left you hanging with last week - if you have no idea what I’m talking about, go back and listen first! After months of being deep in uncertainty, fear, old wounds, and my motherhood in question being brought right back to the center, I’m talking about what it looked like to choose faith before I even had the proof. This conversation is deep from my heart and completely off the cuff. It’s about surrender, support, shame, God, and the deeply inconvenient truth that we don’t really want expansion - we want the rewards that expansion can bring us.Tune in to learn my story of how asking for help, letting people see me fall apart, and even breaking my bed became part of my healing.Highlights:(02:30) - Trusting in the unseen: Finding safety from within(05:07) - Knowing what is mine to do, and what is God’s to do(10:36) - Why nobody actually wants expansion even when they say they do(16:05) - The life-changing power of stopping the need to prove yourself(23:34) - Being the martyr: How we arrange our conditions to stay in victim-mode(35:05) - Turning morning anxiety into a full-body act of faith and years of gratitudeAdditional Links:Mile Hi Church: Prayer & Care CenterResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Unscripted Life Update: Closing the Gap Between Me and Myself
For this week’s episode, I got an extremely strong download to hit “record” with nothing in mind except to speak from my heart about the season I’m moving through. The last 8 years have been one of the longest and hardest seasons of my life. It hasn’t come without debilitating fear and loads of uncertainty - but along the way I’ve somehow learned how to keep it from running the entire show. This is a raw conversation about how I’m reorienting my relationship with past trauma, mastering surrender, and navigating constant legal stress, motherhood, and grief all at the same time. It all starts with coming back into my body instead of searching outside myself for safety.I share how God has been leading me into a deeper relationship with myself, why fear can sit beside me without taking over, and how loving this version of me has become one of the greatest gifts of the whole journey.Highlights:(01:30) - A real-life update from the middle of pajamas, laundry, and total honesty(04:10) - Why this season has been hard, but not as hard as it once was(06:20) - The 10-hour countdown back to a moment of terror(10:21) - The shift from reacting to life to becoming the creator of it(16:42) - How fear can still be present without taking over the whole body(31:18) - Learning to deeply love the version of me who survived all of thisResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Self-Love, Boundaries, and Being Fully Seen with Lindsey Marie of Powerhouse Women
In this episode, I’m joined by Lindsey Marie, founder of Powerhouse Women, bestselling author and master community builder, for what feels less like an interview and more like a very honest first date between new friends. We touch on business, but mostly we go beneath the surface into worthiness, visibility, boundaries, female friendships, grief, dating, self-trust, and the kind of personal transformation that does not fit neatly into an Instagram caption.Lindsey holds nothing back, diving into what it’s meant to move through the end of a long-term marriage, enduring a complete financial reset, a health scare, and putting herself fully out there in a way she hasn’t ever before. This conversation is about the medicine inside a loving “no,” the freedom of self-validation, the power of platonic intimacy, and why feeling safe in being truly known starts with the willingness to meet yourself first.Highlights:(05:00) - Why telling others “no” is the most loving thing you can do for them (11:45) - Understanding the difference between “nice” and “kind”(19:07) - The medicine that can be found in someone closing a door on us (31:46) - Finding yourself again after grief, divorce and deep personal change(47:00) - How it’s female friendships among women that teaches us real intimacy and repair(58:09) - Letting yourself be seen in the middle of the healingAdditional links:Join the 10th annual Powerhouse Women Event 8/14-8/16 in Scottsdale, AZ Follow Lindsey Marie on InstagramFollow Powerhouse Women on InstagramConnect with Lindsay HereResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Writing Is Medicine: Your Journal Could Be the Missing Prescription
Disclaimer: I am not a licensed health professional or doctor and this podcast episode does not include any medical advice, simply researched information. We’re getting nerdy today because if you haven’t learned yet, I’m a forever skeptic needing to know the why behind pretty much everything. This episode is all about the science-backed healing power of writing and how it might be the missing antidote to your healing. I share why writing my first book changed me in ways I could feel before I fully understood, and how I see the same transformation happen again and again with authors through Landon Hail Press. We look at the scientific research behind expressive writing, including how facing the deeper, more painful parts of your lived experience can support emotional processing, nervous system regulation, and can dramatically improve your physical health. A huge first step in healing physically and emotionally is understanding the difference between simply managing emotions and truly processing them - and why consistent, honest writing can help you stop carrying old trauma like it just happened yesterday.Highlights:(00:53) - The reason consistent expressive writing (or journaling) can create massive healing outcomes(03:31) - How the subconscious mind shapes the stories we keep repeating - and the actions that follow(06:35) - The science-backed research studies that support the connection between expressive writing and healing(10:34) - What a daily writing practice can do for stress, illness, and emotional processing(12:09) - The brain function that occurs when writing about pain that moves our trauma from alarm bells to meaning(17:07) - Why buried pain keeps you stuck in the same loop- and how to get out of it Resources:Pennebaker, J.W., Kiecolt-Glaser, J., & Glaser, R. What It Really Takes (and Gives) to Become a Published Author with Amberly Lago: PART 2
Welcome back to Part 2 where I share the second half of a workshop I gave for Amberly Lago’s Unstoppable Success Mastermind, all about the myths and misconceptions that keep so many people from writing and publishing the book they know they’re meant to write. We talk about the false belief that you need to be perfectly clear before you begin, the fear that you’re a “bad writer,” and the idea that becoming an author is only for writers with huge platforms, fancy credentials or endless free time. Spoiler: none of that gets to be the reason your story stays in a notes app forever. We dive into what makes a story compelling, how vulnerability builds trust, and why sharing real and raw experiences in your life activates parts of the brain for true connection. We also get into what actually makes a book a bestseller, beyond just sales numbers and shiny launch graphics - plus a special Q&A with Amberly Lago. Whether you’re writing a book, building a brand or finally owning your message, this episode is about trusting that your story can open doors, for you and for someone else.Highlights:(01:14) - Why waiting for clarity is the reason for your writer’s block (and how to solve this)(02:31) - Busting the myth that you’re a “bad writer” and what is actually going on(05:16) - A peek into the editing process and the different stages(06:29) - The misconception that you need a huge audience to have a successful book(08:09) - Three key points that make your book a Best Seller(16:11) - Q&A with Amberly and how she grew her reader base and audienceFollow Amberly on InstagramCheckout Amberly’s Events & Masterminds hereResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. What It Really Takes (and Gives) to Become a Published Author: PART 1
Join me in a live workshop I delivered to Amberly Lago’s Unstoppable Success Mastermind where we talk about what it really takes to write and publish a book. It’s not just about gaining credibility, followers, money, or some shiny “author” label. Those things can happen, yes - but the real work starts with who you become in the process.I share the origin story of how I became an author and publisher, why identity and clarity matter just as much as strategy, and the myths that keep brilliant people sitting on their stories for years.Spolier: stepping into this chapter has less to do with “how-to” and everything to do with your belief system. This one is workshop style, so listen, take notes, and actually interact with the prompts. Your book might be closer than you think.Highlights:(02:33) - Why writing a book starts with identity, not just publishing strategy: BE > DO > HAVE(07:04) - The power of prioritizing the “why” over the “how” and how it reorganizes your life(09:51) - My biggest fear realized when my book became an exhibit in court(12:52) - How writing a book can open doors you didn’t know existed and create real abundance(19:50) - The belief check that reveals what is actually stopping you (it’s not what you think)(30:40) - Throwing away your excuses: Practical ways to start writing with the tools already in your lifeFollow Amberly on InstagramCheckout Amberly’s Events & Masterminds hereResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. How to Come Back to Presence When Life Feels Heavy
In this episode, I’m slowing things down and talking about what it really means to come back to yourself when life feels intense, overwhelming, or just a bit too much. I share why reconnecting with your mind, body and spirit is not some abstract idea, but a practical, and necessary, everyday way to feel safer, calmer and more grounded in your own life.We get into body intelligence, emotional awareness, and the ways your body is constantly communicating with you, even when you’re not listening (which is often for many of us!). I also talk about stress, coping habits, and simple practices to help you feel more present because this is the only place that truth really exists. And it’s usually easier than you think - sometimes it really does start with just five intentional minutes a day of returning back to yourself.Highlights:(02:15) - Why you need to pause and let yourself feel the discomfort in order to not feel it anymore(04:34) - Breaking the MBS Integration and why it can change your life(07:24) - The science that proves your physical and mental health are always linked(11:56) - A fascinating research study that exhibits the power of emotions in the physical body(17:19) - The damages of that can occur when ignoring your connection to yourself(27:32) - Simple practices to help you come back into your body and the present momentAdd additional links / resources:2014 Study - Body Map of Emotions (Nummenmaa, Glerean, Hari, & Hietanen, 2014)Resources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Wedding & Marriage Rituals: Honored Traditions or Patriarchal Conditioning?
In light of the horrific happenings in the world regarding men and consent - it begs the question: how much of this culture is engrained in society? The answer: more than we can ever imagine. In this episode, I am unpacking time honored wedding traditions dating back tens to hundreds of years. While we consciously associate weddings and marriage with love in modern day (for the most part), this was not always the case - and the origins of nuptial rituals prove it. The scary part is what we have been passed down and taught to see as romantic, harmless, and normal is anything but. I explore where these traditions actually came from and why so many of us never stop to question them.Join me on this journey of unraveling my own patriarchal conditioning, internalized misogyny, and waking up to the reality of what we have been fed all of our life. If you’re an actual truth seeker (not just one who claims to be until it’s inconvenient), this episode is for you. Highlights:(02:10) - A life changing parable that will instantly wake you up(04:32) - What patriarchy really means, and why matriarchy is not the opposite (06:44) - Being chosen as the root of women’s worth and why this is harmful (09:48) - The shocking roots of being walked down the aisle and "given away"(11:04) The real reason we assign a woman the man’s last name(14:55) - The dark origin story behind the best man tradition(16:27) Why women are assigned a label, but not men(20:17) Unpacking the root meaning of “honeymoon” and its original purpose (20:34) - Why questioning old rituals can help us choose from truth, not conditioningResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Detaching from False Narratives of Feminine Power with Alyssa Azcué
In this episode, I’m joined by my close friend and personal coach, Alyssa Azcué for a deeply honest conversation about what it looks like to be in true feminine power and where we may be posturing as women. Alyssa is a feminine embodiment practitioner, blending parts work, somatic trauma healing, and relational neuroscience to support women in reconnecting to their truth, feminine power, and inner stability. We explore important areas like sacred sexuality, cultural conditioning, emotional safety, relationship dynamics, and the difference between external power and the kind that comes from being anchored in your own body and truth. Alyssa and I dive deep into the stories we were handed as women and how to release these false narratives about love, desirability, and self-worth. If you’re ready to step out of performing and efforting for validation, and return to a version of yourself that feels rooted, truthful, and deeply self-held — this episode is for you. Highlights:(02:40) My origin story with Alyssa and how we came together (08:03) - Alyssa’s relationship as fuel for her personal journey of unraveling false power (14:36) - The taxi cab ride in Thailand that exposed Alyssa’s truth and changed her marriage forever (19:37) - The false belief that women must be violated in order to receive love: the perceived cost of intimacy(20:05) - Why performative sexuality can look like power without actually being that(26:18) - Maturing of the feminine system and our responsibility as women to heal our lineage (30:00) - Sacred sexuality, rooting back in the body, and identifying false programming (40:08) - How to find safety in self and practice detachment to speak truth to your partner (44:10) - Alyssa’s line in the sand: leaving her relationship with her now husband(50:48) - Men as the “assessor” and the effect on a woman’s perception of her desirability, worth, and value (55:10) - Male fragility, managing the shame-body, and the role of feminine power in relationship Follow Alyssa Azcué on Instagram: @WildlyWorthy_OfficialResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. The Invisible (Very Visible) Load Of Motherhood
Welcome back to another sneak peek from my second book, a collection of entries that go straight to the heart of motherhood, identity, and what it feels like to carry so much while feeling invisible. I invite you into the messy middle of my writing (be nice!), how this book is more memoir than self-help (the power of vulnerable storytelling), and how stepping into the version of you in a moment brings the deepest kind of honesty to the page. You’ll hear about the rawest accounts of my postpartum experience, the invisibility of motherhood, the grief of single parenting, and the emotional weight so many women are expected to carry in silence. Despite feeling isolated and overlooked in this season, there is a remembering that your pain is not your identity.Highlights:(04:38) - The raw truth about motherhood and the changes in your body & identity(06:04) - Why the hospital experience still haunts me(08:00) - The postpartum “support” that is not support at all(10:12) - The therapy moment where I finally felt seen(11:37) - Falling apart while holding it together (14:59) - The fire and the rage that ignites true powerResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Transmuting Shame Through Reparenting The Inner Child
In this episode, I’m talking about inner child healing, reparenting, and what it really means to meet the parts of yourself that still feel scared, unseen, or stuck in old survival patterns. This work is deeply personal to me as it has been the gateway to truly understanding my own patterns and behaviors. The awareness of our relationship with the little being inside of us illuminates how childhood wounds continue to shape our adult reactions, and why healing starts by getting curious about what is actually beneath the trigger.I break down the difference between the inner child, the outer child, and the adult self, and why so much of what we call “self-sabotage” may not actually be what it sounds like. Highlights:(02:04) - Why inner child work is the gateway to understanding self (07:05) - Childhood conditioning - how and why it still runs the show(12:28) - The reason this work is vital for healing trauma(19:43) - That “self-sabotage” is mislabeled (in my humble opinion)(24:42) - The difference between the inner child, outer child, and adult self as explained by Susan Anderson (32:56) - Some gentle guidance on ways to reparent your inner child for deeper healing Mentioned in this episode:“The Journey from Abandonment to Healing” by Susan AndersonResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. The Missing Piece to Shift Your Mindset For Good
“Mindset”: the buzzword that, in my opinion, is wildly overused in personal development. For years, I was convinced this was where it all started. So many books, podcasts, and videos out there will convince you that if you just work harder on your thoughts, push through another challenge, or stay disciplined long enough, you’ll finally become the version of you that you’ve been striving for. But then without fail, you snap back to old patterns. Sound familiar? In this episode, I’m sharing the missing link that changed everything for me; the precursor to Mindset. We dive deep into the foundational piece of Identity, how your environment quietly reinforces it, and why decluttering is one of the most powerful personal development tools out there. This is about unlearning who you thought you should be and getting back to who you actually are.Highlights: (02:14) Why mindset work alone keeps pulling you back to square one (04:52) The “identity code” and how your story shapes your entire life (08:03) The self-sabotage myth, and what’s really happening underneath (11:27) Why most personal development programs miss the root cause (14:36) Decluttering as identity work, not just cleaning your house (17:58) Micro shifts that completely change how you see yourselfResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. The Profound (and Psychological) Impact of Ritual on Mental Health
This week I’m sharing something deeply personal that has radically shifted my mental health and spiritual connection, ritual. Not routine. Not productivity hacks. Ritual. The kind that grounds you when anxiety spikes, helps you let go when attachment tightens, and recalibrates you when overwhelm takes over. After a season of intense growth, emotional release, and deep spiritual awakening, I realized how powerful intentional rituals have been in regulating my nervous system and anchoring me back into myself. We touch on the actual science that proves its ability to improve mental health, self-confidence, and overall wellness. In this episode, I break down the psychology behind ritual and walk you through three specific rituals I use to ground, release, and reset so you can design your own to enhance your mental state and bring ease and flow into your life. Highlights:(03:45) Why ritual is wired into the human brain(06:51) How rituals lower anxiety and regulate your nervous system(12:30) The difference between habits, routines, and rituals(18:40) Why symbolic meaning makes rituals so powerful(24:15) My grounding ritual for anxiety and self doubt(29:50) Letting go and recalibrating rituals that shift everythingResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Unraveling the Patriarchy: The Harm, The Silence, and How Men Create More Safety for Women
Trigger Warning: Mentions of sexual assault and r*peThis is one of the most vulnerable and necessary conversations I’ve ever shared. In this episode, I speak openly about women’s safety, the patriarchal system we live in, and how deeply normalized harm towards women truly is. I reflect on my own lived experience of sexual assault and harassment, collective trauma through these horrific times, and the moment that forced me to see these systems more clearly than ever before. This episode is not about attacking men. It’s about accountability, awareness, and the opportunity and responsibility men have to create real safety. I invite men listening to lean into discomfort, notice defensiveness, and practice listening without fragility. And most importantly: Healing does not happen in silence, and safety begins when women are believed.Highlights:(01:37) Trigger warning, my Kundalini Awakening, and breaking out in hives(04:30) The male ego and fragility in patriarchy (6:20) “Boys will be boys”(08:10) The hidden ways women assess safety every day(12:40) Why silence and complicity cause harm(16:05) What actually makes a man feel safe to a woman(19:00) The responsibility men have beyond resisting assault Resources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. The Less Effect: Design Your Life for Happiness & Purpose
It’s officially 2026, and I’m here with a quick reality check: the Gregorian “new year” is a made-up date, but we can still use it for momentum. Today I’m walking you through the framework from my book, “The Less Effect: Design Your Life for Happiness & Purpose”. We dive into how “less” isn’t just about stuff, but about alignment in all areas. We’ll start with the easy wins (your physical space), then move into your social environment (who guides you closer to you), and finish with habits (are you driving the ship, or are your habits driving you). Simple, yes. Life-changing, also yes.Highlights:(01:45) - New Year pressure check, it’s just another day - use it, don’t worship it(03:10) - The only question that actually matters: “How can I be more of ME in 2026?”(05:05) - “The Less Effect” intro, consumerism, overwhelm, and the “aha” breaking point(08:20) - Relationship declutter and the truth about “neutral” people(10:20) - Habit loops explained, cues, behaviors, payoffs & how to swap the patterns(16:55) - Free book giveaway, plus how to write your own book with SJResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Being Nonchalant is Blocking Your Love Life: The “Chill” Era is Over
If there’s one thing blocking you from love in your life, it’s this: being the “cool girl” (or guy). Nothing amazing that I’ve attracted in life came from being nonchalant - it came from being unapologetic…and a little delusional. In this episode, I touch on the people-pleasing identity I carried for years and the pride I carried for staying chill and unbothered. How what I feel and expressing it fully (after all - I am a Pisces!) has changed my relationships, my dating life, and the way I show up for myself and my values. We explore the difference between being desired and being valued, why we often gaslight ourselves before anyone else does, and how radical honesty must become the foundation for self worth. Learn how being “low-maintenance” is just a fancy costume for self-betrayal and the beautiful love and honoring that came in once I stopped performing and started living in deeper truth. Highlights:(02:12) When (and why) I decided never to be the cool girl again(02:53) Why low maintenance is often code for self betrayal(4:51) Desire vs value and how I learned to spot the difference(14:55) Radical honesty and breaking the habit of gaslighting ourselves(16:44) My soulmate journal and where I was going wrong(23:55) A coaching session that woke me up to my own BS Listen to SJ’s Coaching Session with Relationship Coach, Christine Hassler: Maybe There Isn’t a Problem At AllCheck out Christine Hassler and her program, Be The Queen Resources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. The Importance of Language in Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
This episode digs into something so many of us neglect the crucial role it plays: the way we speak to ourselves and about our circumstances. Our words shape so much more than our mood. They shape our choices, our limits, and our sense of who we are. The best part is that shifting this starts with tiny, doable tweaks, not a full life overhaul.I break down why your brain clings to old stories, how negative language keeps you feeling stuck, and why imposter syndrome shows up right when you think you are finally leveling up. You will hear real examples, honest tough love, and simple reframes I use every day in my own life. If you are ready to feel lighter, clearer, and a lot more powerful, this one is for you.Highlights:(01:42) Why words shape everything that creates your reality (05:58) How negative language quietly traps you in a rut(12:14) Understanding the brain patterns that reinforce old stories(18:47) Imposter syndrome archetypes and why they hit so hard(26:09) Shifting your limitations into truth(31:40) Using small reframes to build confidence and break old habitsResources:Join SJ’s 2027 Winter Writing Retreat: Earlybird pricing happening Now with 15% off using code WINTER15Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here.
