#253 Let's Talk Why Temperature Could Be the Missing Piece in Your Sleep with Sam from Oak Sleep
**Correction in Episode**In the episode Sam misspoke about heart‑rate variability (HRV). A lower resting heart rate (RHR) during sleep is good, but HRV works the other way around. A higher HRV at night generally reflects better recovery and stronger parasympathetic activity. HRV should stay fairly steady across the night rather than being lower. And just to clarify, healthy sleepers tend to show predictable heart‑rate changes across sleep stages, not big irregular spikes. In this episode of Let’s Just Talk, I sit down with Sam, founder of Oak Sleep, to talk about the role temperature plays in sleep quality and why he set out to create a more affordable, subscription-free alternative to the major sleep technology products on the market.Sam shares the story behind Oak Sleep, how their mattress surface temperature control system works, and why regulating body temperature overnight can help with falling asleep, staying asleep, deeper sleep and overall recovery. Our conversation also explores the growing frustration many consumers have with subscription-based health technology, and why Sam believes simplicity, accessibility and customer ownership matter.Sam and I then go on to discuss sleep hygiene fundamentals, including the importance of routine, stress management, nutrition, and not becoming overly obsessed with tracking every health metric. We also cover wearables, HRV, EMFs, temperature-related sleep disruption, who may benefit most from sleep technology, and where Oak Sleep is heading as the business expands beyond Australia. If you're someone that would benefit from a conversation about sleep, business, health tech, and the balance between using technology to improve your life without letting it over complicate it, then this is one is not to be missedWebsite: https://www.oaksleep.com.au/Instagram : @OakSleepFaceBook: OakSleep

252 - The Truth About Weight Loss, Hormones & Cancer with Dr. Krystle Zuniga
In this episode of Let’s Just Talk, I sit down with Dr. Krystle Zuniga, a board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition, for an open and evidence-based conversation about cancer risk, weight loss medications, hormones, and long-term health. Together, we unpack what really influences cancer risk, the role of genetics versus lifestyle, and why obesity and visceral fat matter more than many people realise. Dr. Zuniga shares clear, practical insights on GLP-1 weight loss medications, menopause and hormone replacement therapy, and the importance of personalised, medically guided care over internet hype. This episode is especially relevant for women navigating weight changes, hormonal shifts, and health decisions in their 30s, 40s, and beyond, by cutting through fear, misinformation, and extremes to focus on what the science actually says.Dr. Krystle ZunigaInstagram: @cancernutritionhq

Buying my Lamborghini and Why People Should Never Use a Glucose Monitor
On this weeks episode I run through a few fun topics and I hope you enjoy First up I talk about offset accounts, what they are and how they could potentially save you hundreds of thousands of dollars and years off your mortgage. Next I then roll into my plan to finally buy my own Lamborghini and how much it will cost me per month to achieve my life time dream. I then dive deep into what is Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and the difference between them and roll into why monitoring your blood glucose if you are neither type 1 or 2 diabetic is the most stupid thing you can do. Lastly I talk about the GROSS underestimating that people do when they eat out and how making a few changes can help you understand just how many calories you are likely eating and in turn help you live a balanced life that allows you to be in a healthy weight range and enjoy social get gatherings with your friends and family

How to get a GREAT nights sleep - #243
I haven't had time to record the final podcast before I take a break and so I've gone back through the archive and picked out what is one of the most downloaded episodes. In this episode I detail my nightly routine and share with you what has worked for me and many of my clients to sleep better, more efficiently and enable me to get up each day and ALWAYS feel energetic, enthusiastic and empowered to have the best day ever! As babies, our parents (many of you who are now parents yourselves will also relate to this) were constantly trying to get us into a routine of a night time to get us into a relaxed state and to help us sleep at our best. At some point along the way we lost this idea and as adults we are ATROCIOUS at having a nightly routine to settle us and get us ready to go to sleep. This 30 minute routine that I do EVERY NIGHT has changed my life and I know it will help to see you INSTANTLY have a better nights sleep and over the next few weeks, if you can stick with it, you will soon sleep better than you ever have in your life and feel at your best each and every day that you alarm goes off. I hope you find this podcast helpful and you enjoy the best nights sleep you are about to have!

#227 - Three Idiots and 30 Years of Friendship
Outside of family, it's rare these days to find people that you can call family and who would be there for you at the drop of a hat. I've been lucky to find 2 of these people in my life and to be lucky enough to travel to Melbourne to celebrate the 40th birthday of Glenn and to sit down with my other best mate Matt, and have the 3 of us "chew the fat" for a couple of hours. I don't know what value this conversation will bring to the world, but it was great to be able to just openly chat with my 2 best mates and talk about topics that we deem important at the time. I'm big on mental health these days and in particular men's mental health as to often men don't talk to their mates about what's going on in their life. If this chat helps just one male, but also females, be more open about their feelings and what's going on in their life and it brings more energy and peace to your mind and life, then job done. For everyone else, I hope you enjoy the chat that we 3 best mates shared and you feel like you are part of our group and a fly in the room for our chat. #225 - How To Shift From a Fixed Mindset To a Growth Mindset with Max Lowery
After both Max and I released a book about intermittent fasting back in 2017 and I moved to live in France in that same year, it was inevitable that we would run into each other. I had max on my podcast WAY back in 2017 and while I've watched from a far the huge changes Max has gone through and the incredible work he has produced in that time, it's been a long time since we have both sat down and had a chat and so it was great to finally do that and to be able to record that chat and bring it to you as an episode on this new version of my podcast. Max is ever evolving with not only the content he produces for his large social media platform, but also how he goes about living his own life and how he works to live a happy and balanced life and he shares how developing a growth mindset and breaking free from a fixed mindset has played a huge role in that development. We talk about how you to can change your mindset and how being open to change, open to feedback and allowing yourself to learn from your mistakes can set you free and have you live your best and most balanced life. #224 - What's The Best Way To Help Your Child's Speech Development with Rita Shamoun
As a father of 2 cheeky but fun girls, I constantly worry if what I'm doing and providing to my girls in the form of parenting, is helping them be the best that they can be. Should I allow them on their iPads and if so, how much time is OK, is it OK to swear in front of them, when is the best time to teach them new skills and is the drill sergeant or honey giver the best approach and whats the best way to help their language development. This week I had the pleasure of speaking to Rita Shamoun who's a speech pathologist and has worked with 100's of kids in her private practice and throughout her career and she had some amazing insights on all things speech and behaviour. #223 - I Ask Dr Steven Singh Is Barefoot Running Better For your Feet
I have both, never understood the foot or those who choose a profession that is all about the foot. With that said, I understand the importance the feet play in our body and how we move about and it's why I reached out to Dr Steven Singh to come on the show for a chat all about feet. The feet, just like the tires of a car, are the part of your body that are always in contact with the ground and are what help you, jump, walk, run, crawl, climb and basically do everything you take for granted on a daily basis. There are 26 bones, 33 joints, 29 muscles and a host of tendons, ligaments and nerves that make up the foot and it was great to have Steven on the show to not only explain how they all work to allow us to do what we do, but to also dispel some myths and misconceptions around feet and footwear, as well as talking about gadgets that might one day propel us further or help us run faster. While I don't particularly like feet, I LOVED this chat and would like to thank Steven for coming on and sharing his love and vast knowledge on the topic. Harriet Ducker or more commonly known on Instagram and other socials as Healthful Harri is a health and fitness coach with a smile, personality and vibe about life that is calming and amazing to be around. #221 How Can You Level Up, Dress Up and Move Up Your Style with Stylist Adele Leahy
It's very clear to anyone looking in, that I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to fashion and making myself look stylish. I have a wardrobe full of black, white and grey T-shirts and similar coloured shorts and that's the extent of my mixing and matching and I don't venture too far from it. With that said, I think when you look great and you have clothes that fit well and go with your mood and personality, then you tend to have a more positive vibe and flow about you and this infiltrates your life and the lives of those around you. This week I had the pleasure of speaking to Adele Leahy, a personal wardrobe stylist and image coach who loves helping men and women level up, dress up and move up in their everyday life. This conversation was SOOO much more than I could have anticipated and we had a BLAST talking all things fashion, style and the best way to be the best version of you. #219 How I Effortlessly Lost 10kg and How You Can To
I've been on a number fat loss journey's over my life and I've also helped 1000's of people do the same and for the most part I've been successful in not only helping those clients who come to me for help, but also myself. In 2022 though, I felt burnt out both mentally and physically and decided to completely stop focusing on the food I was eating and instead drive my attention towards the other pillars of health I talk about, being sleep, exercise and performance and time doing the things I love the most with the people I love the most. Over a 12 month period I had ballooned from a very lean 68kg to a whopping 85.8kg. This was the heaviest I'd ever been in my life and while I finally felt mentally well and also felt physically rejuvenated, I was unfit, out of breath and feeling like a fat slob. Now promoting a life of balance, I didn't want to go on a hard core cut that would leave me miserable and fatigued all over again and so I embarked on a new "BALANCE JOURNEY" and decided to document every step of the way on my Instagram stories. It's now 5 months later, I'm 10kg lighter and I've have never felt better both mentally or physically and on this weeks podcast, I detail every step I took and every up and down I went through, so you to can achieve any goal you aspire to reach for and do it in a balanced and sustainable way just like I did. There is a tonne of gold in this podcast and I do hope you enjoy the listen! #218 Opening Up The Conversation on Death, Funerals and Saying Goodbye with Funeral Celebrant Luke O'Connell
This weeks podcast is a topic that people usually shy away from and don't want to talk about as it brings up emotions of fear, hurt, loss and sorrow. However, as I continue to expand the breadth of this podcast and open the discussions up to ALL kinds of people and topics, I embraced this weeks guest and dove into the business and world that is funerals and being a funeral celebrant. We didn't stop there though and spoke openly and wide on all manner of topics and Luke O'Connell who is a Funeral Celebrant shared his story on how he fell into this profession after many years of being a musician and playing mostly for weddings. I truly enjoyed this podcast and my chat with Luke and not only did I find out a LOT more information about the business side of a funeral, but also how much of a difference a quality celebrant can make to the experience of what is usually a very sad time for people. Your first inclination might be to swipe away from this podcast, however I truly hope you give it a listen as there were some wonderful talking points and moments that I know will help you out when it comes time for you to plan a funeral for a loved one in your life. #216 How To Sing Like a Professional with Vocal Coach Adam Mishan
I've always thought that in order to sing like the great singers over the generations that you need a combination of an insane work ethic combined with amazing genetics, just like those who can run sub 10 second 100m or pain incredible works of art. However, after going through many classical avenues of singing lessons, Adam Mishan felt like the restrictive views a lot of teachers put on their students, held them back from achieving big breakthroughs and progress with their singing ability. Adam, a great singer in his own right, sought out to show that ANYONE can sing. Whether you're an aspiring rock star, want to sing for your wife at your wedding or already sing and wish to get better... Adam has the tools and YEARS of practice and proof that ANYONE truly can sing when given the right tools, encouragement and direction. I had a BLAST in this episode and I even put my hand at trying to sing a little better and so I hope you enjoy this episode and I don't make your ears bleed with my appalling attempt at singing happy birthday. #215 Are Planes Really The Safest Way To Travel with Captain Cameron Tribe
I know I'm not alone when I share the fact that I get a high level of anxiety when getting on a plane. I'm a control freak at heart and HATE being the passenger in any vehicle and this feeling's at it's most when traveling by air and in a tin tube held up by physics that they actually can't quite explain but know it works because planes stay up in the air and don't fall out of the sky. This week I had the opportunity to speak to Captain Cameron Tribe as he shared his tales of travel and what it's like to be a commercial airline pilot. Cameron also went into detail and answered all of those questions we anxiety ridden, control freaks want to know about flying and whether it truly is one of the safest ways to get around. I'd like to thank Cameron for coming on the show and for sharing his incredible knowledge of flight and commercial airlines and I hope that this podcast helps you become a more centred and less stressed traveler. #214 Is Now A Good Time To Buy A House with Mortgage Broker Matt White
In a world where inflation is rising and no one knows how high interest rates will go, it can be a scary time to buy a house and take on a large mortgage. But, that's exactly what Amy and I have done and while we are terrified about what is to come, we are equally excited about planting our feet into our dream home and what that home will represent to our kids over the years to come. All of this wouldn't have been achievable without my best mate and mortgage broker by my side, walking me through the process and getting this CRAZY big loan across the line. This week, I speak with Matt from Modern Financial Finance Brokers and we talk in detail about where he believes the world is heading with regards to economics, interest rates and the housing market in general and we discuss whether now is a good time to buy or a bad time to buy. Either way, if you're in the market, are looking to get into the market or you're generally curious about money, how it works and the entire finance world, then definitely give this weeks podcast a listen as I am CERTAIN you will find some gold nuggets amongst our ramblings. #213 New Ways To Find Love in 2023 with Kristen Lilly
I can remember a time when going online to find love was considered weird and if you did meet someone online, you would both make up stories on how you met so that you didn't have to say you met online. Jump to 2023, and it's almost the ONLY way people find love and it's weird to hear that people found each other in the "real world" However, is this a good thing? On this weeks podcast, I chat with Kristen Lilly, someone who tried the online dating world and hated it and thought she can't be the only one and so went about creating a way to meet people in the real world and to have real connections. Enter... SPIN THE BOTTLE, a fun, safe and stress free alternative to online dating - for those who remember dating before it went digital. I had a great time chatting with Kristen and whether you are in the dating world or not, I think this chat can be great fun to listen to and to reminisce over the "good old days" of dating and how it has evolved over the years. #210 Is The Fitness Industry Full Of Narcissist and Fakery with Zach Lazar
Zach Lazar is a strength coach and someone I've not only had on the podcast before, but someone I've spent YEARS working alongside and always enjoyed the time we had together. Zach has spent years working on his craft as a strength coach and while his approach isn't for everyone, one thing is for sure... HE GETS RESULTS! #209 How You Can Find Balance and Success In All Aspects of Life with Jacob Andreae
In 2008 I took my first trip to Thailand with 2 of my best mates from Uni and on that trip I was introduced to Jacob who was the cousin of one of these mates. Nearly 15 years later, Jacob has found great success in the fitness and health space, however it hasn't been without it's trials and tribulations and in this podcast we talk all things success, failure, balance and everything in between. It was great to catch up with Jacob again and to discuss everything that's going on in his life and to talk with another health professional for whom I admire for the hard yards he has put in to reinvent himself and find longevity in his career. There is plenty to learn from this podcast and I have no doubt that many of these lessons can be transferred into your own life to help you continue to find what helps you live your best and most balanced life and to help you pivot should your life not be heading in the direction you wanted it to go.
