Most couples don’t realize they’re stuck in a conflict pattern… they just know they keep having the same argument. In this episode, I’m sharing three common patterns I see in relationships and how they can quietly create distance—especially during big transitions like having a baby.Because it’s not the conflict itself that causes disconnection… it’s the pattern underneath it.If you’re expecting or planning for a baby, this is one of the most important conversations you can start having now.I also introduce Us Before Baby, my upcoming program designed to help couples feel like a team before life gets more demanding.Want to check out the course? S4: E19 Part 2 with Liz Farmer

Part 2 of this powerful and eye-opening episode of Love After Lullabies, Miranda sits down with birth worker and activist Liz Farmer to explore why the United States has the worst maternal health outcomes in the developed world — and what we can do about it.Liz shares her background in anthropology and birth work, explaining how both over-medicalization in the U.S. and lack of access to care globally impact mothers and babies. She breaks down the critical gap in postpartum care — especially the dangerous window between birth and the six-week checkup — and highlights how conditions like postpartum preeclampsia are often missed. The conversation dives deep into the role of birth and postpartum doulas, how Oregon now mandates insurance coverage for doula services, and why community-based support dramatically reduces postpartum depression, anxiety, and maternal mortality — particularly for under-resourced families.Miranda and Liz also explore the cultural history of birth, the impact of patriarchy and profit-driven medicine, and the importance of embodied childbirth education. Liz discusses the hormonal parallels between orgasm and birth, how stress hormones inhibit labor, and why safety and relaxation are essential for physiological birth. This episode is an empowering look at reclaiming ancestral wisdom, advocating for better maternal care, and preparing both your body and your relationship for the transition into parenthood.Bio of Liz Farmer:Liz Farmer is a second generation Jewish American anthropologist, activist and birth worker.  Liz holds a BA in Biological Anthropology and an MA in Cultural Anthropology.  During her studies she researched the detriment of over medicalization of birth in the US versus how withholding medical care in the Global South negatively affects birth outcomes. After graduate school she went on to become a birth and postpartum doula, providing private paid care to high income clients while volunteering with marginalized, historically underserved communities.  Liz is currently Director of Portland New Family Fund, a nonprofit that supports low income families across Oregon and Washington with birth and postpartum doula care and advocates for insurance to cover these services.  Liz is a mama to a rambunctious 9 year old, has two kitties and a wonderful husband of 11 years.https://www.portlandnewfamilyfund.orgTake the FREE Parenthood Readiness Quiz:https://square-fog-73231.myflodesk.com/readinessCheck out our new website:www.loveafterlullabies.comFollow Love After Lullabies on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube:https://www.instagram.com/loveafterlullabies/https://www.facebook.com/groups/818194252548981https://www.youtube.com/@LoveAfterLullabiesVisit our Amazon Storefront:https://www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-fed02c38?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_aipsfshop_aipsfinfluencer-fed02c38_1FAWEYQVF54XQ4X7TSY1If you’d like to be a guest on our show or leave us a comment: [email protected] After Lullabies helps new and expectant parents stay connected through relationship coaching, postpartum wellness recipes, and date night meals. S4: E14 Integrating Chinese Medicine into Trauma-Informed Fertility Care with Nicole Lange

In this conversation, Nicole Lange, founder of Life Healing Life, discusses her journey into acupuncture and women's healthcare, focusing on the integration of traditional Chinese medicine with modern medical practices. She highlights the emotional and psychological challenges women face during fertility treatments, including the prevalence of PTSD. Lange emphasizes the importance of holistic approaches that consider both physical and emotional health, advocating for trauma-informed care and the need for better education in fertility and reproductive health. The discussion also touches on the financial burdens of fertility treatments and the cultural perceptions surrounding them, as well as the significance of couples therapy in navigating these challenges together.Bio of our guest:Nicole Lange is an acupuncturist and thought leader who's pioneered trauma-informed fertility care since 2006—and she’s passionate about addressing what happens to relationships during the fertility journey and the ripples it makes (for better or worse). Nicole leads the conversation around the shocking reality that nearly 50% of women in fertility treatment develop PTSD regardless of whether they conceive. Research shows couples who undergo failed fertility treatments are more than twice as likely to divorce—not because treatment failed, but because typical fertility care breaks down both individuals AND their relationships.Nicole's revolutionary approach integrates cutting-edge nervous system science with Traditional Chinese Medicine to prevent treatment-induced trauma while supporting couples through one of the most challenging experiences they'll face together. Her work serves all types of couples and relationships, teaching how to stay connected when you're on completely different pages about next steps, how to maintain intimacy when fertility becomes the third person in your relationship, and how to navigate this journey without sacrificing your partnership. With nearly 20 years of clinical experience and outcomes that consistently surpass published studies, Nicole pioneers the best of both worlds—classic holistic practice integrated with modern science.Find Nicole's programs and fertility education at lifehealinglife.comPodcast listeners can enter LHLPOD for 10% off any online coursesAnd my online education is all on this page (lots for free): https://www.lifehealinglife.com/online-fertility-educationCheck out our new website:www.loveafterlullabies.comFollow Love After Lullabies on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube:https://www.instagram.com/loveafterlullabies/https://www.facebook.com/groups/818194252548981https://www.youtube.com/@LoveAfterLullabiesVisit our Amazon Storefront:https://www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-fed02c38?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_aipsfshop_aipsfinfluencer-fed02c38_1FAWEYQVF54XQ4X7TSY1If you’d like to be a guest on our show or leave us a comment: [email protected] After Lullabies helps new and expectant parents stay connected through relationship coaching, postpartum wellness recipes, and date night meals. Our family was on the brink of failure. The stress in our home was overwhelming. I was ready to leave my wife and 6 kids and never return. Then a revelation popped into my mind that changed the fate of our family forever. My name is Kyle Jetsel and for years I (and My now deceased wife, Shelly) struggled mightily raising our 6 “very challenging” kids. Nothing seemed to be off-limits for this “seemingly feral” crew. When everything we'd tried failed to help us with our "AT HOME" challenges, we made it our business to better understand how we could parent our kiddos in a "Spirit of Love." Through the "secrets" we learned we dramatically LOWERED STRESS for everyone and TRANSFORMED our family. Now, WE TEACH that same framework and recipe to other families so they can become what our family has become. A top 1% happy family. And we love sharing our success map with anyone interested. We are so grateful communication is the foundation of our relationship (credited to our initial year of long-distance), and have shared our fair share of challenging moments. BONUS: Preserving family legacies with Jodi Bondy

In this engaging BONUS episode, Jodi Bondi shares her journey from studying biology to becoming a professional photo organizer. She discusses the importance of preserving family memories, the emotional challenges of sorting through photos, and the impact of social media on privacy. Jodi also highlights her experiences as an EMT and offers valuable insights on safeguarding family legacies in the digital age. Guest Bio: Jodi Bondy has always been a bit of a trailblazer. She hates to allow a situation or problem get the best of her. While growing up, Jodi pushed the boundaries when it came to academics, sports and even being the oldest of 2 girls in her family. Jodi went to college and studied Biology but her dream job never materialized. She got married, moved with her husband from Michigan to South Carolina and they started a family. Several years later, they moved to Indiana and that is where she is still. Their 3 grown daughters are all married, within an hour drive, and are raising 7 grandchildren. Jodi went back to school and received her Secondary Education certificate. She worked in public schools, private schools and at the university level for many years. As education was changing Jodi decided she would pursue a new avenue – helping others to save their photos and memories. She had been scrapbooking part time, and this new venture fed right into her wheelhouse. Besides her career in education, Jodi has also been in public safety as an EMT for 46 years. She uses her skills from years of listening to patients to delve into the projects of her photo clients. And that does include HIPAA (when you have some photos that might require discreet handling). In 2014 Jodi started her own business and continues today working with clients on their family history and legacy. She loves hearing the stories, solving the puzzles of missing data and helping people to find connections. Learning new technology and keeping up with the ever changing world of photos contributes to a lot of the work she does behind the scenes. While their story began in an unconventional way and the statistics in how they started out would have said that they probably wouldn’t have made past the 1st year of marriage, they have figured out how to thrive in their marriage by always making sure to foster their relationship first.  https://www.designyourexistence.com  facebook.com/designyourexistence/  www.instgram.com/designyourexistence  https://a.co/d/22aAU74  Follow Love After Lullabies on Instagram or Facebook: https://www.instagram.com/loveafterlullabies/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/818194252548981 Visit our Amazon Storefront: https://www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-fed02c38?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_aipsfshop_aipsfinfluencer-fed02c38_1FAWEYQVF54XQ4X7TSY1 If you’d like to be a guest on our show or leave us a comment:  [email protected]
