#90. Day 10 of Waking Up at 5AM: Great Mornings Start the Night Before

Day 10 of testing if waking up at 5AM will change my life. We're officially in double digits, babies. Ten days into my 5AM challenge, I'm learning something surprising: waking up early isn't actually the hardest part. Going to bed on time so I don't dread it is.In this Day 10 check-in, I'm sharing the reality behind building new habits, especially with ADHD. The excitement of starting something new is beginning to wear off, the novelty is slightly fading, and I'm entering the phase where consistency matters more than motivation.I talk about:• The struggle of creating healthy nighttime habits when the kids are at their dad's (where my single moms at?)• How doom scrolling, late-night TV, and "just one more thing" can sabotage even the best morning routine• The evening routine I'm experimenting with to support better sleep and more consistent mornings• Why habit building often requires replacing old behaviors, not just eliminating them• The role community and accountability play in personal growth and self-improvementIf you're trying to wake up earlier, build better habits, improve your productivity, or simply become more consistent with the promises you make to yourself, this episode is a reminder that progress isn't about perfection. It's about showing up, even when the excitement fades. And to everyone who's been sending me 5AM texts, DMs, and messages - you might be the reason this challenge is still going strong 💕Because becoming the person you want to be doesn't happen overnight - but it might happen one small habit at a time... and we're about to find out. Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #89. Why Keeping Promises to Yourself Changes Everything

Four days into my 5AM wake-up challenge, and I'm already noticing some surprising changes. In this episode of Mostly All Figured Out, I'm sharing the real-life experience of waking up at 5AM as a single mom, business owner, and person with ADHD. No miracle morning claims. No "I've completely transformed my life in a week" nonsense. Just an honest look at what's working, what's hard, and why keeping promises to yourself might be more powerful than any productivity hack.We talk about:• My day-by-day 5AM wake-up ratings• Why charging my phone across the room is a game-changer• The unexpected connection between self-trust and productivity• Lessons from Atomic Habits by James Clear, truly one of the best books I've ever read• How identity shapes our habits and behaviors• Why small actions can create massive change over time• Balancing personal goals, motherhood, business ownership, and a social lifeIf you've ever struggled to stick with a new habit, hit snooze one too many times, or wondered whether changing your routine could help you become the person you want to be, this episode is for you.Follow along as I spend the next month testing whether waking up at 5AM actually leads to better focus, more consistency, business growth, and a life that feels more aligned with my goals.Because maybe the secret isn't waking up at 5AM. Maybe it's becoming someone who keeps promises to herself ✨Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? There’s a new listener support option now! #88. Wealthy women don't spiral, they pivot.

Hey babies, we're back!! It's been a minute. I'm catching you up on everything: the resting era, the panic era, and the locked-in era I'm currently living in. We're talking divorce aftermath, selling the house, a boyfriend detour, a financial wake-up call that hit like a freight train, and how sheer desperation (as per usual) is what finally got me moving. But the real thing I want to talk about today? What it actually means to decide. Not the Instagram "claim it in the comments!!" version of deciding - the real kind. The kind where you accidentally forget to cancel a $370 hotel you never stayed in, and instead of absolutely destroying yourself over it, you just... don't. Because you've already decided you're wealthy, and wealthy women don't spiral, they pivot.I'm also getting into my big money goals for 2026, what's actually working in my business (shoutout to my incredible contractors), and how my financial advisor pulled off a miracle I never could have dreamed up on my own.Plus: My dog Simon makes a quick cameo, Jackson's cardinal mug gets its moment, and I shout out basically everyone I've ever met.If you're a single mom running a business, figuring it out on your own, and tired of advice that sounds like it was written by ChatGPT - this one's for you.Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #87. Messy Middle Energy - 2026 So Far

In this episode, I’m giving an update on where I’m at right now - two and a half months into 2026, chasing big goals, managing ADHD, running a business, and trying to level up my income as a single mom.My word of the year is money… and let me tell you, that has forced me to look at everything - how I work, how I charge, how I think, and honestly, how much I’ve been playing small.I share what’s actually been going on behind the scenes in my business, including how I’m working toward a $250K year, what’s already shifting, and the mindset blocks I’ve had to call myself out on (hi, undercharging and overgiving 🙃).We also get into:Why “expanders” are more powerful than generic adviceThe reality of building a business with ADHDLearning to receive money - harder than it soundsHolding two truths at once - gratitude and burnoutThe mindset shifts helping me grow faster this yearAnd how I’m learning to regulate my nervous system while still going after big goalsThis episode is messy, honest, and hopefully exactly what you need if you’re in your own “figuring it out” era.If you’ve ever felt like you know you’re capable of more, but can’t quite get out of your own way, this one’s for you.Let’s figure it out together 💛Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #86. How to Stop Caring What People Think (And Start Living Authentically) with Leighton Jones

Okay. This episode? It’s one of those conversations that stays with you. This week on Mostly All Figured Out, I’m sitting down with my incredible friend Leighton Jones - dancer, nurse, immigrant, political advocate, community builder, and one of the most fearless humans I know.We talk about what it actually means and looks like to stop caring what people think… and why that’s way harder than Instagram makes it look.Leighton shares his story of immigrating from Jamaica to the U.S. at 19, growing up in a country where being gay is illegal, surviving bullying and violence, and choosing - over and over again - to live authentically anyway. And let me tell you… this conversation will make you rethink what bravery really looks like.We get into:Why your reaction is your powerHow to stop people-pleasing (especially when it’s your default)The difference between online connection and real-life communityImmigrant resilience and the trauma people don’t talk aboutFacing fears around money, business, and asking for what you’re worthWhat it looks like to choose joy on purposeThere’s laughter. There’s real talk. There are uncomfortable truths. There’s a moment where I get lovingly called out (and honestly? I needed it).If you’ve ever:Held yourself back because you were afraid of being judgedStruggled to show up authentically onlineFelt torn between who you are and who people expect you to beNeeded permission to choose yourselfThis one’s for you. We’re stepping into 2026 with courage, boundaries, bold energy, and way less caring about what the wrong people think.Let’s get into it 💛Follow Leighton for all the details on dance classes and what he's up to next on IG @leejay____Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #85. Quarter-Milli Energy: How I Set Goals for 2026

It’s 2026, babies, and you know what that means. It’s goal-setting time. In this solo episode, I’m sharing exactly how I’m planning my year, my goals (big and tiny), and what actually worked for me in 2025. From ADHD chaos to hair loss hell to realizing I’ve been emotionally held hostage by one lipstick comment since 2013 -this one’s a full-on heart-to-heart. I talk about quitting Adderall, reorganizing my office mid-spiral, the reason behind my word of the year (MONEYYY), and building real systems to actually follow through on goals. If you’re a neurodivergent human, a chronically overextended woman, or just tired of setting resolutions that flop by February - this one’s for you. You’ll leave with a tangible, doable system for setting goals that make sense (and stick), plus a reminder that you’re not alone in trying to figure it all out.Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #84. The One Thing That Can Change Your Life This Year

Hi friends! Welcome back to Mostly All Figured Out! It’s 2026, and I’m kicking off this year by choosing a theme for myself that feels big and a little scary: money. Yep. This is the year I stop playing small, stop doing free labor, and start owning the value I bring - in business, in life, in everything. In this episode, I’m reflecting on the past few years of choosing a "word of the year" (remember freedom? gamechanger? routine?) and sharing why this year is all about financial growth, CEO energy, and actually believing I’m the boss I already am. I’m diving into what held me back before, what I’m focusing on now, and what I’m no longer available for (spoiler alert: burnout and undercharging). If you’ve been feeling stuck in survival mode, unsure how to level up, or just need a nudge to finally pick your own word of the year - this one’s for you.I’m talking about:How I pick my annual theme and why it mattersWhat “money” really means to me this yearThe tough love I got from a friend that changed everythingADHD, routines, and finding a rhythm that actually worksAnd how I plan to grow this podcast and my income this yearLet’s make 2026 the year we show up differently - more confident, more intentional, and more in charge of our lives. #83. How Working From Home Helped Me Create an Intentional Christmas (and an Evening Routine That Stuck)

In this episode of Mostly All Figured Out, I’m sharing how working from home unexpectedly helped me create a more intentional holiday season, build an evening routine that actually stuck, and be more present with my kids during December.I knew going into this month that I’d have the boys a lot - their dad was gone for most of December - and I didn’t want to look back and feel like I missed it while technically being there the whole time. So I got intentional with my days, locked in during work hours, and built small systems that supported the kind of mom and human I wanted to be this season. We talk about:Working from home as a system (not just a vibe)Building an evening routine without forcing itHabit stacking and ADHD-friendly routinesHow washing the dishes every night completely changed my life (swear to God, I'm just as shocked as you are)Being present with your kids without burning yourself outWhy small, supportive habits matter more than big overhaulsI also share a quick update on working on the inauguration reception for Buffalo’s incoming mayor, Sean Ryan, and why there’s no real slowing down as the year wraps up.If you’ve been craving calmer days, better routines, or proof that small changes can actually change how your life feels - this episode is for you 💛Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? My phone’s across the room now, and suddenly I’m… journaling? Reflecting? Pulling tarot cards?? Who even am I. Spoiler: I like her.But the biggest shift? Prepping for 9 days without my kids while they travel overseas with their dad - over Thanksgiving. It’s the longest we’ve ever been apart, and it’s stirring up big emotions: grief, co-parenting anxiety, and solo holiday dread. #79. No Screens After 9PM: Sleep, Sanity & Emotional Regulation (Week 1 Update)

I’ve officially gone screen-free after 9PM for a whole week… and it might be changing my entire life??In this episode, I’m breaking down the surprising (and honestly wild) impact of cutting off phone time before bed - from actually cleaning my room (shocking), to finishing a sexy fairy book (that I hated?), to waking up with positive vibes like some kind of morning person.I also talk about:The night I broke the rule, and why it lowkey proved how powerful this habit isMy mini car scroll moment (we’re all fragile, okay)How less screen time has boosted my productivity, improved my sleep, helped with emotional regulation, and made me feel like a more present parentOh, and there’s a letter from my son that had me ugly crying in the best way — this one's got heart.🔑 Key things you'll find in this episode:How to stop doomscrolling at nightSetting phone boundaries for better sleepCreating a night routine without screensMental health and screen timeJournaling before bedParenting while healing (and trying your best)If you’re thinking of setting a no screens rule at night or just need a cozy, encouraging listen to nudge you into a better habit... this is your sign 💫💬 In this episode:Why I’m screen-free after 9pm (and kinda obsessed)The gross feeling of breaking my own ruleA weirdly productive week How I discovered sexy fairy books were not for meParenting wins that hit deepDM me or drop a comment if you’re trying out no screens after 9 - let’s be emotionally regulated girlies (or girlies adjacent) together.Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #78. The Habit You Voted For (and Why I’m Ignoring It)

The people voted. The people wanted me to work out every day.And I… kindly said, “No thank you.”This week, we’re kicking off a brand-new month and a brand-new habit: no screens after 9PM. Why? Because I want to actually succeed at this whole becoming-my-best-self thing. And if that means I have to ditch late-night Instagram doomscrolling in favor of sleep and sanity, so be it.In this episode, I’m talking about:The habit I am committing to this month, and why.Why working out daily isn’t the first step (at least not for me).A beautiful breakdown from my friend Victoria about how nervous system health, rest, and screen time are all connected. The realest talk on the most important habit of all: keeping promises to yourself. Also: shout out to my ADHD brain, mini crosswords, my love-hate relationship with January, and the power of making just one change at a time.If you’re ready to make one small shift that could unlock bigger ones, come do this with me. #77. The Hairy Godmother Returns: Lessons in Hair, Healing, and Hustling

Felicia is back, baby! And this time, we’ve got better mics and zero foils crinkling in your ear. In Part 2 of my conversation with my “hairy godmother,” Felicia Cardinale - owner of Mercury Salon and one of the most deeply intuitive humans I know - we go way beyond hair.We talk about what it means to create safe, affirming spaces for all folx to feel seen, supported, and stylin'. Felicia shares the real (and raw) story of how she opened her salon - spoiler alert: it involves coffee-fueled late nights, screaming landlords, and a serious survival mode hustle. She opens up about building community, being your authentic self (even when it’s messy), and what it really takes to come back from rock bottom. We also touch on the power of mentorship, asking for help, and how falling on your face is basically a prereq for success. This episode is hilarious, healing, and honest - just like a great salon session should be.In this episode:The real story behind Mercury Salon's creationWhy the salon chair often becomes a therapist’s couchFelicia’s wisdom on surviving hard seasons and coming out strongerThe surprising connection between hair care and personal growth👑 Felicia is currently accepting new clients! #76. The Critical Three-Month Dating Rule (I'm single again)

So… I went through a breakup last week. Which means, we need to talk about The Three-Month Rule - aka that moment in every relationship when the dopamine wears off and you may start to see the person you've been swooning over a lil differently. In this episode, I’m breaking down the arc of my post-divorce dating, the absolutely feral things your brain does when you think you’re catching feelings, and why my therapist Deborah (we love her) is absolutely correct about the three-month mark being a turning point. I’m walking you through how I got back into the dating world and the patterns I keep seeing in myself - and maybe in you, too.I also read you my list of qualities for my ideal man, directly from my Notes app. It’s giving “manifestation with a side of delusion,” but why bother living any other way, honestly. Plus, we’re talking about the honeymoon phase and how to tell if someone’s actually worth the emotional labor of a hard conversation.Whether you’re dating, healing, avoiding Hinge like the plague, or just here for the chaos - you are so welcome. Love you, babes. I’m glad you’re listening. Let’s keep figuring this shit out together.✨ In this episode:I cry. Just kidding lmaoI explain why three months is the magic number (and not in a cute way)I roast my dating history and read you my "ideal man" listWe talk boundaries, patterns, and how not to ignore red flags (again)And I give you permission to get a rebound. A hot one. 🖇️ Check out the full article I reference in the episode: https://amiethedatingcoach.com/why-relationships-end-at-3-months-and-what-to-do/ Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #75. Don't Make the Chili (aka Learn to Say 'No')

This week, we’re getting real about something I know you’re doing too: living for everyone else. Whether it’s making chili on your birthday or saying yes to a project when your calendar is already screaming no, this episode is for the good girls, the independent women, and anyone who’s been caught in the exhausting cycle of people-pleasing.In this solo episode, I’m talking:Where people-pleasing shows up in my daily life (spoiler: everywhere)Why doing less might actually be the key to feeling betterA surprisingly emotional chili-related meltdownMy favorite concept from the book Unbound by Kasia UrbaniakI’m also challenging you (and myself) to pick just three things a day that actually matter—and say no to the rest. #74. Let’s Get (Mostly) All Figured Out... Again

We’re back!!! Season 4 is officially here, and I am so freaking happy to be back behind the mic. I missed this space. I missed you. And honestly, I’m coming into this season with a whole new energy - and a whole new game plan.In this kickoff episode, I’m reintroducing myself (hi, I’m Emily Rose 👋), and sharing the deeply personal, mostly chaotic path that got me here - from growing up the oldest of nine in a big Polish Catholic family to giving an epically bad chastity speech to a group of fourth graders (don’t worry, I explain), to becoming a single mom, small biz owner, and woman who is finally figuring out what she wants… not just what everyone else expects from her.I’ve never been a perfectionist - but I am a lifelong people pleaser. I’ve spent so much of my life trying to be what everyone else needed, expected, or wanted me to be. And that led me into some very real moments of crisis, transformation, and (thankfully) growth. This season, the podcast is evolving. I’m doing something new: every month, I’m taking on a different habit or goal (like waking up early, working out, tracking my spending) and using this space to hold myself accountable in real time. The goal? Progress, not perfection. Just messy, human, hilarious, healing growth. In this episode:Why I’m switching things up this season (again)That time I weaponized a chastity talk (sorry to literally all my friends)How pregnancy, miscarriage, and divorce forced me to rethink everythingLearning to stop living for other people’s approvalHow ADHD and radical acceptance have shaped me latelyThe monthly challenges I’m taking on (and dragging you into with me)Whether you’re brand new here or you’ve been around since day one, thank you for being part of this. #73. Tarot, Spirit Guides & a Broken Down Elevator Moment That Gave Me Chills! (With Beth Metal)

This week’s episode is a real treat—not just because my guest is an actual magical human, but also because it happened to be her birthday when we recorded it. 🎉 The universe has impeccable timing, and so does my friend Lauren, who introduced me to the one and only Beth Metal.Beth is a tarot reader, animist, channeler, and all-around spiritual badass. In this episode, we dive into:Her journey from flower-whispering child to full-on mysticWhat animism is (and why she once had to flee a Savers mid-sensing)How she got into tarot, what it was like being told “you’re a witch,” and why her first deck cracked something openChanneling spirits (yes, including one in an elevator!)Differentiating intuition from anxiety (this part blew my mind)Why everything—yes, everything—can be a signAnd how honoring your inner child can change everythingBeth also shares what it’s like doing readings for others, what questions people ask her the most (spoiler: love & career never die), and what happens when you ask the universe for a breadcrumb and it hands you a pterodactyl. This episode is cozy, witchy, healing, and full of giggles and goosebumps. If you’ve ever wondered if that weird feeling means something—this one's for you.✨ Book a reading with Beth or follow her work at @nearbethexperience or at nearbethexperience.com.🦕 And yes, we talk about the time a drink cup with a dinosaur on it ushered me into a new era.Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #72. Dating after divorce with Lindsay Robson

This week’s episode is such a fun one, and honestly, I wish we could've kept it going because I have SO many follow-up questions. I sat down with Lindsay Robson, who you might know from Nickel City Pretty, Copper & Steel, When’s Food? podcast, the Buffalo Blogger Network… and basically every cool creative corner of Buffalo. We talked about all of her amazing projects and how she’s managed to keep showing up creatively through all the highs and lows — including her divorce. Which brings us to the real juice of this episode: dating post-divorce.Lindsay has been on over 60 first dates in the last couple of years (yes, you read that right), and she came ready to share the wild, the weird, and the occasionally heartwarming tales from the dating trenches. We talked about the apps, the red flags, the lessons, and how she stays grounded through all of it.But the real takeaway? Be true to yourself. Go to that event. Start the thing you’ve been dreaming about. Wear the outfit. Go on the date. Whatever it is — do it for you. Also… men are something else right now. So, maybe just protect your peace at the moment if you are a single straight woman. So whether you’re dating, divorced, deep into your creative journey, or just trying to figure things out — this one’s for you. Thanks for listening, and as always — we’re all mostly all figured out, and that’s more than enough. 💛Follow Lindsay on IG for links to allllll the things: @nicklecityprettySupport the show💸 Want to support the pod? Everyone’s in for a real treat with this one — meet my grandparents, Norbert and Rosemarie Marciniak! While visiting them in Las Vegas, I pulled out my mic (much to their surprise) and started asking all the questions: about their childhoods, how they met, what parenting was like in the ’60s and ’70s, and whether hindsight really is 20/20. We even tossed in some audience questions from Instagram! This episode is one my family and I will cherish forever. I hope you enjoy their stories, laughs, and time tested advice as much as I did. #70. From Wrongfully Accused to Purpose-Driven Entrepreneur with Chad Williams of dooProcess

In this episode of the Mostly All Figured Out podcast, I sit down with Chad Williams, founder of the clothing brand dooProcess. Chad opens up about his journey from growing up in a large, close-knit family in Brooklyn to moving to Buffalo to attend Buffalo State University. Wrestling played a huge role in his life, and although an injury altered his athletic path, Chad's resilient mindset carried him forward.Chad shares the powerful and emotional story of being wrongfully arrested while trying to help a friend—an experience that deeply impacted his education and work life. This challenging time ignited his passion for justice reform and inspired him to create dooProcess, a street-wear clothing brand that donates 15% of sales to social justice organizations.Through our conversation, Chad talks about the importance of family, turning obstacles into opportunities, and how fashion has become his powerful medium for storytelling and advocacy. He also offers a glimpse into Buffalo's vibrant and growing fashion scene and the role community engagement plays in his mission. Chad's story is a testament to staying grounded, embracing life's challenges, and living life freely.Follow dooProcess: @dooprocessFollow Chad: @osotalented_Get your dooProcess attire: dooprocess.orgSupport the show💸 Want to support the pod? #69. Staying accountable: My monthly review strategy

In this episode, I'm sharing a simple practice that's already made a huge difference in keeping me on track with my goals — a monthly review. Taking about an hour at the end of each month to reflect has helped me stay accountable, identify where I fell short, and create a plan to overcome obstacles in the month ahead. For example, I wasn’t as consistent with podcasting this month as I’d hoped. To fix that, I’m putting some new systems in place — like working with a podcast editor (shoutout to Jake!), scheduling a batch of interviews in advance, and shifting most future interviews to virtual. These changes will streamline my process and save so much time!I love sharing what’s working for me, and I hope this episode inspires you to try something similar. #67. Fix Your Vision Board: Ditch the Fluff and Make It Work for You

Alright, let’s be real—vision boards can feel a little cringe. Cutting out magazine quotes like “Be Brave” and slapping them on a poster doesn’t magically make you brave (trust me, I’ve tried). But here’s the thing: vision boards can actually work—if you do them right. In this episode, I’m breaking down:✨ Why your past vision boards might’ve been a total flop✨ The one small tweak that made mine actually work✨ How I used a vision board to manifest my dream home (spoiler: it wasn’t magic, but it was kinda wild)✨ The key to picking images that actually get you results✨ Why you should focus on one goal at a time (I know it's hard but trust me on this)I promise—this isn’t just another fluffy “believe and receive” talk. #65. Helpful tools I picked up from 37 days in a row practicing being thankful

We've all heard it a million times— "Gratitude is life-changing!" "You need a gratitude practice!" "It’ll shift your mindset, attract abundance, and transform your life!" But… does it really work? For me, the answer has been a resounding yes. What started as a 28-day gratitude journey at the beginning of the year has turned into something I never want to stop. Along the way, I’ve experienced incredible shifts—some small, some truly life-changing. In this episode, I’m sharing some of the wins I’ve seen firsthand, plus the simple yet powerful tools I’ll be carrying with me long after the "challenge" is over.Gratitude isn’t about ignoring the hard stuff—it’s about finding the good even when things feel uncertain. It’s a way to break free from negativity, to see the beauty and possibility that already surround us. I truly believe that recognizing and appreciating what’s working in our lives can create even more good.I hope this episode gives you ideas on how to weave gratitude into your own life in a way that feels effortless and real. #64. Your femininity is defined by you and only you with vocalist, Ellie Banke

I still can't believe this interview actually happened. I fell in love with Ellie's voice before I had the chance to meet her and fall in love with her as a human. In this episode, she shares what it was like being a kid in high school who knew with explicit certainty what she wanted to be when she grew up. She talks about the importance of setting and enforcing boundaries, sticking up for yourself, and the transformative power of taking time off the grid to connect with yourself. I didn’t know it at the time, but so much of our conversation ties into her latest single, Woman, released in October. If you haven’t already, search for "Ellie Banke" wherever you listen to music and give it a spin—it’s the perfect prequel to this episode.Ellie also opens up about redefining femininity and womanhood on her own terms, breaking free from societal norms, and embracing the freedom that comes with it.This is a conversation you don’t want to miss. Hello, hello! This episode was originally recorded in April 2024. And what a year 2024 was! Sadly, not a year with this podcast interview in it. But here it is now!The guest is Sarah Baird, Executive Director or Let There Be Light International, an organization that along with local NGO partners helps people in off-grid Africa to gain access to solar energy in their homes and frontline health clinics. In this episode we talk about the many fascinating twists and turns her life has taken over the years - from making a blood pact to become a comedian with her sister, to getting a masters in Russian studies, to stay-at-home moming, to creating an organization impacting millions of people through the power of solar light. This is a great conversation and will definitely inspire you to ride the wave of life and be open but also intentional about whatever direction it takes you in. #62. Skip on resolutions and go right to the Theme of the Year

Happy New Year! I'm sure I say this every year but I cannot believe it's 2025. Like... what??? We are five years from 2030 I cannot get over this. Anyway 😅 this episode is a solo update on where I'm at and what the podcast is going to look like this year. I also talk about my favorite New Year's ritual - picking a theme word for the year. I highly recommend this as a way to keep yourself grounded in the energy you want to live in this year. It's a significantly more realistic way to set an intention for your year versus the old New Year's resolutions. Leave those behind and find your word! Thanks for listening 🥰Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? There’s a new listener support option now! #61. We need to talk about mental health in the food industry, with Executive Chef Malik Von Saint

In this episode, I sat down with Executive Chef Malik Von Saint of Harvest Restaurant at Bent's Opera House in Medina. Chef talked about his journey growing up in the industry, and the people and places that had an impact on him. As the leader in his fine dining kitchen now, he uses all the things he's learned along the way to usher the next generation of culinary creators. He shared how difficult it is to live the lifestyle of a chef, especially with maintaining an intimate relationship. We also talked about how making small changes in his routines and starting therapy really made a big difference for him. In the episode, Chef references "A Cook's Tour" an event the benefits an organization called Family Meal, a nonprofit that emerged from a desire to support struggling hospitality industry workers. Be sure to check them out to support or look for support if you need it. Thanks for listening, please share it with your friends!Follow Chef Malik on IG: @malikvonsaintAnd get yourself to Harvest for a meal you will love, and a stay at Bent's Opera House! I got to stay there with my sister and it was so lovely. The rooms are all different and unique, and the little town has all sorts of fun shops and bars to slip in and out of. #60. Building a business one block of wood at a time and Step Daddy J's story with Justin Hofschneider

Aaaaaaaaand we're back. I won't bore y'all with what life has been like the last couple of months that led to another podcast hiatus. Well, actually I will, but I'll save it for a solo episode. More importantly, I'm THRILLED to share my conversation with Justin Hofschneider of Wine on Hertel (WOH)! Justin and I met ages ago when he first soft opened WOH and I was "writing articles" for Step Out Buffalo. Sadly, the article I was supposed to write for his business was never written (sounds believable doesn't it?), but years later, he ended up dating my sister! And now he's the awesome Step Daddy J to my three nieces and my nephew. In our episode, we talked about his side of the story of their relationship (My sister Liz gave her side in the controversial episode #47) and how he transitioned from single business owner bachelor to doing school pick-ups and making dinners for 6. We also talk about how Wine on Hertel began and the slow process it was to making it what it is today - coming up on year 10!We talked a lot about perspectives and the importance of taking nothing for granted. There are lessons around every corner if you are open to learning them. Hope you enjoy this episode, and if you do, please share!Follow Wine on Hertel on IG: @wineonhertelAnd be sure to stop by for a glass of wine and some delicious tapas!Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #59. How selling cellphones at the mall made him a successful business owner & so much more with Sean Wrafter

Finally, I give you, the long-anticipated, fascinating conversation with the one and only, Sean Wrafter. Sean and I recorded this back in April of this year which honestly feels like another lifetime to me.Sean is the co-owner of Acme Cabinet Company. Before that, he designed and built furniture and commercial fixtures at his furniture store called Wrafterbuilt. He's worked in construction, inside and outside sales and marketing, and many other things in-between.We talked about his career trajectory but also got into the difficulty of finding a good therapist, changing the narrative in your friends' group to help you stick to your health and self-care goals, the importance of being present, and so much more. Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #58. Season Three: Divorce, selling the house, and how I manifested my dream apartment (solo episode)

OMGGGGG I am so happy to be back 😭 Wow I missed this podcast, I missed talking into the mic alone, I missed sharing great conversations with amazing people, wow wow wow. I can't let 4 months go by like that again. But, tbh, I had to. I share more in the episode, but it's been a wild 4 months of pushing to the finish line of this chapter of my life. It's been frustrating, sad, exciting, and scary all at once. We're still in it, but it's getting close. Also in this episode, I share exactly how I manifested my dream apartment. This was such a massive thing for me. I desperately wanted to find a place that felt like a real home for my boys. This has been a tough year for them, too. But also, leaving the house my ex and I bought together, the place where both my boys grew up, it's really the final nail in the coffin of this chapter, so I wanted to start over somewhere that made me feel joy, hope, and comfort. When I tell you this place is literally exactly what I wanted... I can't believe it, but also, I a little bit can. Have a listen, tell your friends the best podcast around is back on, and give yourself a hug cause you're doing a great fucking job.Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #57. The audacity of just going for it with Chris Flynn of Bflo Pizza Bistro

Chris Flynn of Bflo Pizza Bistro is on the podcast today! Y'all, I have been shook over how this podcast has opened doors to meeting new people doing really cool things. I met Chris while with a friend at Free Street Tavern. When he was introduced to me as the owner of Bflo Pizza Bistro, my first thoughts were - wow that is so cool, I need to know more about how he got to this point! However, it came out verbally as "what gave you the audacity to open a pizza shop in Buffalo?" Lol. Oopsie.Luckily he got what I meant and didn't take offense to it, we recorded a visually disastrous mini podcast right then and there at Free Street and then set up a time to do the real thing a couple weeks later. Chris and his buddies also started a major annual beloved Buffalo event - Buffalo Groundhog Day. They all seem to possess the "fuck around and find out" mindset that I am now obsessed with. I hope that listening to Chris talk about his journey inspires you to just do the damn thing - whatever it is for you. #52. Is consistency the key? We'll find out I guess.

Hey, y'all. It's been a weird week. I've been in a funk for no real reason. For me, when anxiety appears, it takes the form of a tight chest and decision paralysis. Which is why I'm posting this podcast at 10:45PM on the day it should be up. In this episode, I share how imposter syndrome and people-pleasing accosted me the last few days and the things I did tonight to help break me out of the spiral I've been sliding down. If this was a rough week for you too, you're not alone. I don't think how I feel is abnormal. So here I am telling you about it. Thanks for listening, I hope this helps somebody.Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? My brother is on the podcast today!! I know I say this a lot, but this really was one of my most favorite episodes to record, DEFINITELY my most favorite to edit, and it's such a good listen, too. John Marciniak is Marciniak #6 of the 9 of us, and he has been an entertainer since birth. I have proof weaved into this episode - I inserted a clip from a "Family Documentary" project I did in college and John was probably around 9-years-old then. He and my brother Tyler (#3) started their band years ago, first as "The Spaghetti Boys", and now as "Johnny & The Mankids". John has written over 30 songs, and we talk about where his inspiration comes from, his upcoming cross-country tour, and who in our family would make it in an apocalypse. Mike "Shooky" Ciesiulka, co-owner of JJ's Casa Di Pizza and fan-fave bartender at Free Street Tavern joined me in studio today! We got to record in Casa which was awesome (check it out on the YouTube!)  so apologies for some of the background noise/music - but I think it adds to the esthetic 🕺🏼Mike and I talked about where he grew up, teaching CCD classes at OLBS in Depew, his career trajectory (he first started working at Casa Di Pizza when he was 16!), and things that bring him joy in day-to-day life. We also talked about his son Ethan, what made him such a special kid, and how Mike processed his grief after his loss and continues to do so. This one is a biiiiiiiiiiit personal, some might argue, a bit too personal? I bring my sister on and consume two bottles of wine while we talk dating in 2024. Definitely not one for the kids, ensure there are no children around that can hear this when you do. Trust and believe the public podcast will not have content like this again 😅 But once I officially launch the Patreon (a membership platform that you will be able to sign up for to get extra content and some fun goodies from me!), this will be a series where Lizzy and I consume alcohol and hash something out. SO if you like it, stay tuned for that official membership launch.Just to be clear I am a nice person I just like a good back and forth, a little debate if you will 😂 Anyway, enjoy this one. Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? #45. Let's Talk Trash with John Atkinson

Composting, recycling, landfills... oh my! I finally got my episode with sustainability engineer John Atkinson! Recycling has always been such a mystery to me so I was grateful to be able to ask some of the questions that have been swirling around my brain for a while. It turns out that recycling IS in fact important. We actually do make a difference when we do it properly.  Additionally, we should all be composting. John walks us through how and what that looks like, which again before this convo was a complete mystery to me. I still have to get my compost bucket but I WILL get it and I'll share on the gram once I do. Hope you enjoy this episode and that it gives you some good tips for managing your own waste better!Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? There’s a new listener support option now! #44. NYE 2024 and the Official YouTube Launch

We're trying something new this week! YouTube. Can you believe? It's been confirmed from our guru at the Buffalo Public Library, the brilliant Jordan, that we can use camera equipment there! So that means sometimes you will see us recording with guests in the library, and other times you will see me in the studio in my home office. And still, other times, you are gonna see me god knows where because I occasionally bring the mic to wherever our guests are. This week we're in my log cabin living room. Never again 😂In this episode, I share a couple of things I *actually* do to prepare for a new year. Please ignore the episode I did last year with eight ridiculous steps that got me nowhere. What are your New Year rituals? Thanks for listening and supporting y'all. It means the world to me ❤️Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? There’s a new listener support option now! #43. "The braver I am, the luckier I get", and other faves from Untamed by Glennon Doyle

Solo episode today, baby. In this episode I discussed 3 passages from the book "Untamed" by Glennon Doyle, a book I now truly feel all women should read, especially women going through a major life transition. I talk about guiding kids through tough times, how there is racism in all of us (did I stutter), and that living a truly magical life takes courage. Hope you enjoy listening as much as I did recording ✨Support the show💸 Want to support the pod? There’s a new listener support option now!
