Master the 5 Movements of Vata (2023)

This episode originally aired in 2023 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today. Vata, nature's bio force of motion and circulation, plays a significant role in our mind/body system - specifically our digestive and emotional wellbeing. The subdoshas of Vata: Prana Vayu, Udana Vayu, Samana Vayu, Apana Vayu, and Vyana Vayu each have specific, significant roles in regulating our inner harmony. Chronic psychosomatic illnesses occur when Vata gets aggravated and left unchecked. We hope this conversation plants a deeper understanding of this dynamic dosha and offers practical tools for keeping your Vata balanced from the inside out.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Ayurveda for High Performers: How to Rise Through Pressure, Fear & Mistakes | Season 8 Finale

As we grow - whether in our career, our leadership, our inner evolution - the stakes inevitably rise. Pressure increases, expectations heighten, and mistakes become more visible. In this episode, Sasha and Erin explore how to meet higher stakes with steadiness, through an Ayurvedic lens that honors the cultivation, and protection, of ojas under stress. They also dive into something essential that is often overlooked in high performance culture: the importance of pausing and creating buffers. Strategic pauses, integration periods, and intentional space are not signs of slowing down - they are what make sustainable growth possible. It is said that the latest way to get somewhere, is to go slowly. This gives us perspective, an opportunity for recalibration and increase our capacity to hold more, without burnout or fragmentation. The truth about expansion, is that it’s not linear. It requires rhythm: effort and rest, motion and stillness, engagement and withdrawal, intensity and integration. When we learn to build in these buffers, we don’t just handle pressure better: we grow to meet ourselves with more clarity, wisdom, and stability. This episode is a sentimental finale to our first chapter in Austin. Finally rooted, finally flying.Thank you for being here for every step of our evolution. Ayurvedic Nutrition: What, When and How to Eat for Your Dosha Imbalance (Vikruti)

There’s a moment on the Ayurvedic path when we realize that knowing our constitution isn’t enough. We may know our Prakriti, our true nature. We may even know what foods are “good” or “bad” for us. And yet… we still feel off. Bloated. Inflamed. Heavy. Unsettled. Or simply not fully ourselves. And this is where Ayurveda gently redirects us from who we are, to what is actually happening. From prakriti to vikruti.Because the truth is, most of us are not eating for our constitution, we’re living in a state of Vikriti, or imbalance. And that imbalance is rarely simple. It’s layered. It’s dynamic. Often, it’s dual-doshic or even tridoshic- heat and heaviness, dryness and stagnation, intensity and depletion, all coexisting in the same body.So the question becomes: Not just what should I eat? But what does my body need, right now, in this state? In today’s episode, we’re exploring Ayurvedic nutrition through that lens. Not as a rigid food list, but as a living relationship. We explore why so many people stay stuck, even when they’re “eating healthy. And just as importantly, we’re shifting the conversation beyond food itself. Because in Ayurveda, healing doesn’t come from what we eat alone. It comes from when we eat. How we eat. The state of our nervous system as we eat. The rhythm, the pace, the presence. You can eat the most perfect diet for your dosha, and still create imbalance if the timing is off, if the quantity is too much, or if the body isn’t ready to receive. There’s a classical idea in Ayurveda that the strength of the vessel determines what can be given. And in many ways, this episode is about strengthening that vessel. So that what you eat can actually nourish you.If  you’ve been trying to “eat right” but still feel out of balance…if you’ve been toggling between different food rules, unsure what applies to you…or if you’re ready to understand Ayurvedic nutrition on a deeper, more intuitive level, this episode is for you. Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

The 5 Types of Flow in Ayurveda: Understanding the Body’s Channels (Srotas)

There is a quiet intelligence moving through your body at all times, carrying nourishment, clearing waste, transmitting information, and sustaining life itself. In Ayurveda, this movement is understood through the concept of srotas—the channels of the body.Today, Sasha and Erin explore the five types of flow that can exist within the srotas: normal (or balanced), excessive, deficient, blocked, or flow-out.Healing is not just about what you put into the body—it’s about how well everything is able to move, and be held. As is the vessel, so is what may be given. In other words: The strength of the vessel determines the blessing it can receive.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Ayurvedic Wisdom for Healing Betrayal & Restoring Self-Trust

Healing after betrayal is not just emotional: it is deeply physiological and spiritual. In this episode, we explore how to rebuild trust in yourself and others after heartbreak.Whether you’ve experienced dishonesty in a relationship, broken trust in friendship, or a deep sense of abandonment, your nervous system holds the imprint. The Pancha Kleshas: 5 Obstacles to Inner Peace

Sasha and Erin dive into a foundational teaching from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras: the Pancha Kleshas—five root obstacles that block our inner peace and keep us trapped in suffering. These five kleshas are:Avidya, or ignorance, the root misperception that keeps us from seeing reality clearly. Asmita, egoism, our over-identification with ‘I’ and our roles in the world. Raga, attachment, the clinging to pleasure that creates endless desire and intense feelings that drive unconscious, reactive actions which in turn produce karmas. Dvesha, aversion or hatred of suffering, the push against pain and discomfort that fuels reactivity. Abhinivesha, the instinctive fear of death and clinging to life itself, which underlies so much of our anxiety. These kleshas produce duhkha (suffering) and bind the mind to cycles of desire and aversion. In other words, creating patterns and/or addictions that are hard to break.Yoga’s purpose is to weaken and dissolve the kleshas, leading to clarity, peace, and liberation. We explore how these kleshas show up in our daily lives, how they influence our relationships, health, and choices, and what practical tools from yoga and Ayurveda can help us recognize, release, and ultimately dissolve these mental obstacles.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

The Real Root Cause of Disease: An Ayurvedic Perspective

Today, Sasha and Erin dive into the root causes of disease, as described in Ayurveda. In classical Ayurveda, disease is never random. At the deepest level, it arises when we forget our true nature as spirit, identifying with the ego instead of our inherent consciousness.Subsequently, there are three primary root causes:    1.    Parinama – the process of natural transformation and change.Parinama is the understanding that everything in life — our body, mind, and environment — is in constant motion. This includes the passage of time, the cycles of energy in our body, and the “drama” of life itself — the events, relationships, and stresses that stir the mind. When we resist change, cling to outcomes, or identify with transient experiences, these forces accumulate as tension, aging, and ultimately disease. Parinama reminds us that disease can arise when we fail to flow with change, instead binding ourselves to patterns of reaction, attachment, or ego.    2.    Prajnaparadha  – the mistake of the intellect. This happens when our discernment is clouded, and we act against our own well-being. It’s not ignorance, but lapses in wisdom that create imbalance — like eating, thinking, or acting in ways that disrupt our natural rhythms.    3.    Asatmendriyartha Samyoga – the misuse of the senses. When we overindulge, neglect, or misuse sensory input — taste, sight, sound, touch, or smell — we disconnect from our inner rhythm. This leads to physical and mental imbalance and eventually manifests as disease.Sasha and Erin unpack each of these root causes whilst sharing personal anecdotes, and exploring practical ways to apply this knowledge and increase ease in mind, body, and spirit.

Sacred Sexuality Series: Sexual Mastery with Ben Timby

In Ayurveda, sex is not taboo: it is one of the three pillars of life, alongside food and sleep. When honored consciously, sexual energy builds vitality, creativity, immunity, and longevity. But when overstimulated or misused, it depletes ojas — our most refined vital essence responsible for resilience, radiance, and spiritual strength. In today’s hypersexualized digital culture, pornography has become one of the most powerful yet unspoken forces shaping modern intimacy. While often normalized, porn addiction is quietly limiting men’s emotional depth, nervous system regulation, spiritual connection, and capacity for embodied, conscious sex. But the impact doesn’t stop there. It affects women, relationships, and the collective field of intimacy, pulling us out of embodiment and into reenactment.Instead of experiencing sacred sexuality as a living, breathing current of life force energy, many couples find themselves unconsciously replaying scripts learned from screens. Performance replaces presence. Stimulation replaces sensation. Disconnection replaces devotion. In this powerful episode, Sasha sits with Ben Timby, transformational coach, spiritual guide, and founder of Men’s Sexual Mastery.Drawing from Tantric and Taoist sexual alchemy practices, along with modern behavioral neuroscience and psychology, Ben guides men in reclaiming their sexual energy as a sacred force for healing, vitality, and spiritual awakening. We explore how reclaiming sexual energy as life force, rather than consumption, restores vitality, strengthens relationships, and creates a healthier template of intimacy for future generations. If you’ve ever felt the quiet grief of what intimacy could be..If you’ve sensed that sexuality holds untapped spiritual power…If you believe that healing men’s sexuality is central to healing our culture…this episode is for you.

How to Be Okay When You’re Not Okay: Ayurveda, Grief & Coping with Loss

How do you cope with grief when life doesn’t feel okay? What does Ayurveda say about loss, impermanence, and the pain that leaves holes in our hearts? In this deeply personal episode of Ojas Oasis, we explore how to be okay when you’re not okay. Through the lens of Ayurvedic wisdom and spiritual reflection, Sasha holds space for grief, heartbreak, and the disorienting reality of impermanence. When we lose someone, whether through death, separation, or life changing unexpectedly, it can feel physical. Like the ground has disappeared beneath us. Ayurveda teaches that grief impacts the heart, the nervous system, and our sense of safety. Rather than bypassing pain or forcing positivity, this episode invites you to sit with it.Inspired by the spiritual reflections of James van der Beek on life, death, and presence, this conversation explores:How to cope with grief and lossThe Ayurvedic understanding of impermanenceWhy emotional pain can feel physicalHolding compassionate space for yourselfGrief as fragmentation and transformationSpiritual perspectives on death and dyingIf you are navigating loss, heartbreak, or existential sadness, may this episode serve as a compassionate witness. You do not need to make sense of your pain. You do not need to rush your healing. From Vision to Reality: Building an Ayurveda Clinic in Austin

Welcome to Season 8 of Ojas Oasis. "This season begins with a life update that feels less like a chapter and more like a quantum leap. I’ve moved to Austin, Texas, and the past few months have been nothing short of magic—an intricate web of synchronicities unfolding at a pace that has stretched time itself. Some days have felt like entire lifetimes, shaped by tectonic inner and outer shifts happening at lightning speed. There were moments where the velocity felt almost too much, until I remembered who I am, why I’m here, and what I’m devoted to. When I remember that this path is Dharma, and that it is walked in devotional love, everything recalibrates. The body softens. The nervous system exhales. Even rest becomes an initiation. This journey of building an Ayurveda clinic from vision to reality has been a sacred dance between action and surrender, between my fiery Pitta drive and a deep return to the Divine Feminine. And there are three pillars that have carried me here.First and foremost: my devotion to The Divine and to the Dharma entrusted to me. When you are asked to carry a sacred torch, there is no alternative path—only service, only integrity, only forward motion in love. Second: my friendships and community. My heart overflows when I think of the people who have nourished me, believed in me, and expanded my capacity simply by standing beside me. No poem could ever capture my gratitude—so instead, I choose to live it. A life as poetry. Gratitude expressed in motion, and in stillness when needed. And third: my teachers: those who have walked this path long before me, who initiated me into this lineage, who continue to pray for me as I step into a new level of responsibility and service.Austin has embraced me with open arms. Casa de Luz, the wellness village where Ojas Oasis has found its physical home, feels less like a location and more like family. It is my great honor to step into the role of Austin’s village Vaidya and to open the doors of Ojas Oasis as a living, breathing space for healing.I’m so excited to share this journey with you, what it’s taken to bring a soul vision into form, the lessons along the way, and what it truly means to build something rooted in devotion, community, and ancient wisdom.May The Divine continue to protect and guide our collective healing journey and bless this space." - SashaSend us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Rethinking ADHD: Nervous System Regulation, Trauma and Emotional Regulation with Pen King Jr.

In today’s conversation, Sasha sits  with Pen King Jr., holistic transformation coach, health-tech innovator, and CEO of Bonding Health, to explore a radically different approach to ADHD, focusing on emotional regulation, trauma, and mental health.Pen is also a dear friend of Sasha's- they met freshman year at Syracuse University in English class. Their connection deepened when she announced she was raising money to run the NYC Marathon for charity. Pen donated $1,000 on the spot, making it possible for Sasha to run the marathon at all. That generosity marked the beginning of an 18+ year friendship rooted in trust, support, and shared values.Today, Pen is leading a movement that challenges the conventional ADHD model. Rather than overstimulating the brain or defaulting to medication, he shares why slowing the brain down, strengthening neuroplasticity, and rethinking emotional regulation may be the key to lasting healing—for children and adults alike. In this conversation, they explore:Why traditional ADHD treatments may be missing the root causeHow trauma, stress, and emotional dysregulation shape behaviorThe science behind calming the nervous systemHow the Bonding Health app empowers families through warmth, play, and connectionWhy asking “What is my child communicating?” changes everythingThis episode is for parents, educators, health professionals, and anyone curious about holistic mental health, ADHD alternatives, neuroplasticity, and integrative healing. If you’re ready to move beyond bandaid solutions and explore what true regulation and resilience look like, this conversation will change how you see mental health.Discover why slowing down might be the fastest path forward.

Ayurveda Meets Health Tech: Digestive Care & Preventive Medicine with Scott Hickle (Throne Science)

Today’s conversation is a powerful reminder that what we often call cutting-edge technology is, in many ways, a return to deeply rooted truth.I’m honored to welcome Scott Hickle, CEO and co-founder of Throne Science, a revolutionary health-tech company reimagining how we understand digestive health. Alongside John Capodilupo, one of the original founders of WHOOP—Scott brings together deep experience in biometric data, human performance, and preventive health. At first glance, Throne’s innovation—a smart toilet that analyzes stool and urine to generate personalized health insights—may sound futuristic. But when we look through the lens of Ayurveda, this technology feels incredibly familiar. In Ayurvedic medicine, stool analysis has always been one of the most important diagnostic tools. Long before lab tests and imaging, practitioners observed the color, consistency, frequency, smell, and ease of elimination to understand digestion, metabolism, nervous system balance, and even emotional health. Ayurveda teaches that when digestion is strong and elimination is clear, vitality—ojas—naturally follows. What Throne Science is doing is translating this ancient, embodied practice into a modern, accessible, and data-driven format—one that empowers individuals to self-observe, self-educate, and reconnect with their bodies in real time. This is especially important in the context of preventive care. Colorectal cancer is now one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths, and rates are rising even among younger populations. Digestive dysfunction often whispers long before it screams—but in modern life, we’re rarely taught how to listen. Throne offers a way to notice subtle changes early, without fear, shame, or disruption to daily life. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this is deeply aligned with the principle of svastha—being rooted in the self. Health is not something handed to us by a practitioner or a system; it’s something we cultivate through awareness. Throne Science puts the keys back in our hands, transforming one of the most overlooked daily rituals into an act of self-inquiry and empowerment. We are living in a really exciting moment—where modern health technology is opening the gateway back to a wisdom system that is over 10,000 years old. Today’s conversation is about championing that bridge: how ancient knowledge and advanced technology can work together to help us understand our bodies more deeply, prevent disease more intelligently, and reclaim a sense of agency in our health journeys.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Becoming an Ayurvedic Doctor: Sasha's 8-Year Journey of Healing and Transformation

The true initiation did not happen in a classroom or a clinic. It happened in silence, when I began to see that the same intelligence that moves the cosmos also moves through my breath. To become an Ayurvedic Doctor is not merely to know about herbs and doshas. It is to see that you are a living laboratory of existence; the rivers of prana, the fire of digestion, the air that sustains life; all of this is you.A sacred initiation is not a ceremony someone else gives you. It is the moment when you dissolve as a seeker, and life itself becomes your teacher. This journey, from seeker to Ayurvedic Doctor, is not about what I have achieved. It is about who I have become. When the medicine is no longer something you practice, but something you are, that is the true initiation. This isn’t just about a degree; it’s about transformation. It’s about what happens when you say yes to the pull of your purpose, again and again, even when the path is long and uncertain. And as I arrive at this threshold, the completion of eight years of study and surrender, I bow in gratitude:To the Divine, the silent presence guiding each step, even when I could not see the path.To my teachers: including the ancient rishis and unseen gurus, who carried this light across time so it could reach me.To my friends and fellow travelers, whose laughter and courage made the long journey lighter. To my family, whose love and patience became the soil in which this journey could take root.May the merit of this work ripple outward;to all who are still seeking,to all who are still healing, and to all who are remembering that the medicine has always lived within them.Because every great becoming; every healing, every awakening, begins the same way: with one brave decision to listen to the truth inside you… and to follow it home. From Love,SashaSend us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Ayurvedic Tongue Diagnosis: What Your Tongue Reveals About Your Health with Dr. Rama Prasad

In today's episode, we explore one of Ayurveda's most fascinating diagnostic tools: the tongue. The art of tongue analysis, or Jivha Pariksha, allows practitioners to see what's happening in the body and mind before a single word is spoken, revealing the subtle imbalances, stagnation and vitality reflected on the surface of the tongue according to ancient texts. The Charaka and Sushruta Samhitas, the color coating, texture, and shape of the tongue, provide profound clues about an individual's health. In Ayurveda, the tongue is seen not merely as a muscle for taste and speech, but as a map linked to multiple organs and systems in the body. Key diagnostic insights include: detection of doshic imbalances, accumulation of toxins in the system, status of metabolic health, and signs of organ dysfunction.Joining us today is Dr. Rama Prasad. A distinguished Ayurvedic practitioner and educator with over three decades of clinical experience. Dr. Prasad is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in therapeutic fasting mind, body medicine, and holistic health assessment. He has been instrumental in introducing Ayurveda to Western health professionals through international conferences.Training programs and coaching. Currently, Dr. Rama leads innovative projects at Vaidyagrama Ayurveda Healing Village, where he focuses on online education, app development, and specialized wellness programs for a range of health conditions. His mission is to bridge the timeless principles of Ayurveda with modern healthcare, empowering both practitioners and clients to deepen their understanding of the body's innate intelligence.Today we dive into how the tongue serves as a mirror to the organs, what specific colors, textures, and shapes reveal about the doshas, and how Jivha Pariksha can help us detect and balance as long before they manifest as disease. So take a deep breath, settle in and prepare to see your health through a whole new lens: one that begins right at the tip of your tongue.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Ancient Indian Temple Science: Energy, Architecture, and Wisdom with Prem KV

Prem KV has been a seeker since childhood. After studying agriculture in India, he worked as a plant scientist in Melbourne. Drawn back to his roots, he embraced the life of a Brahmachari, or monk, in Sadhguru's ashram for 15 years, exploring the inner dimensions of life. Since then, he has dedicated himself to sharing the essence of Indian culture. He has been traveling across the country, visiting and filming powerful temples and sacred spaces for the last six years. His YouTube videos, garnering over 4 million views, have showcased powerful temples and sacred spaces across the country. Notable works include the Sadhguru ShriBrahma series, which explores the life of a great yogi from a century ago, and the Himalayan series offering Rare Insights into Uttarakhand's revered Temples.Prem's work inspires individuals to reconnect with their roots and contribute to preserving India's rich culture and spiritual heritage. In today's episode, we journey into the realm of sacred architecture, embodied temples, and the role of Sadhana and modern life. Ancient temples in India weren't just places of worship. They were spiritual technologies designed with precision, purpose, and chronic intelligence. Built at energy vortexes aligned with celestial rhythms and vibrating with mantras and sacred geometry. These temples were constructed not just to honor the divine, but to transform the human. But what happens when we no longer live near ancient temples? What happens when we live in cities of noise, speed, and distraction? Today's conversation invites us to remember that the temple is not lost. It simply waits to be awakened within us. We'll explore how the body itself is a sacred temple, how to design meaningful temple spaces at home, and how daily sadana our devotional practice can serve as an offering that aligns us with our inner Sri Brahma, the still point of divine intelligence at the core of all things.Whether you're a seeker, a householder, or someone simply yearning to reconnect with the sacred in a modern world, this episode will guide you back to the inner sanctum through sound, breath, ritual, and remembrance that temples are not merely relics of the past. They are living technologies meant to awaken the temple within each of us.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Ayurvedic Psychology 102: 3 Doshas and 3 Gunas

Today we dive deeper into the layers of the mind and personality with Ayurvedic Psychology 102: The 3 Doshas and the 3 Gunas. At the heart of Ayurveda lies a timeless template. One that explains not just your body and mind, but consciousness itself through the lens of the five elements and their expressions as the Doshas and Gunas. This isn't just about understanding your stress responses or emotional habits, though that's part of it. It's about learning to see the world through the lens of nature's intelligence. We'll begin with the 3 Doshas: Vata, the principle of movement and change; creative, spontaneous, but prone to anxiety and fragmentation.Pitta, the force of transformation focused, passionate, and discerning yet can burn out or become irritable. Kapa, the energy of structure and cohesion, loving, loyal and calm, but sometimes resistant to change. And then we'll move into the 3 Gunas, the subtle forces of the mind: Sattva brings clarity, peace, and harmony.Rajas brings action, ambition, and restlessness. Tamma brings stillness, but also inertia, confusion or ignorance. These 6 forces, the three Doshas and the three Gunas form a living map of consciousness. They help us understand why we feel, what we feel, do what we do, and how to come back into alignment with our higher self. When you begin to see yourself and others through this elemental lens, life starts to make more sense. You stop personalizing everything and start realizing and relating to your experience with compassion, insight, and greater freedom.

Trust Your Gut: How the Second Brain Heals Chronic Stress with Dr. Manas Kshirsagar

Dr. Manas Kshirsagar  is an Ayurvedic doctor who comes from a Rig Vedic Brahman tradition with an extensive Ayurvedic background. He graduated from Aloha Ayurveda Academy and the Maharishi University of Management. He's an acclaimed wellness consultant, Ayurvedic consultant and health educator. He provides a holistic approach to medicine, including nutrition, yoga, meditation, detoxification, and effective stress management.Today we're diving into a topic that's reshaping how we think about modern health, the profound connection between our gut and our mind. You've probably heard the phrase trust your gut, but do you know what makes your gut so trustworthy? Modern science says it is our second brain: the Enteric Nervous System. The ENS is a vast network of over a hundred million neurons embedded in the walls of our digestive tract, mostly in the small intestine and colon. That's seven to eight times more neurons than in the spinal cord, which contains around 13.5 million. Our brain contains around 86 billion neurons. Our gut does not just follow orders from the brain. It processes reacts and even remembers patterns and digestion and emotion. It functions independently of the brain, but also communicates with it locally via the vagus nerve. It communicates with the rest of the body through nerves. It uses neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine and actually produces 90 to 95% of serotonin. Both the brain and gut play a major role in mood immunity and digestion both have their own reflexes, sensory neurons and motor neurons, and both respond to stress and emotion, like how anxiety can cause diarrhea. Your gut feels emotional shifts even before your brain processes them, which is why you might get a gut feeling like butterflies or stomach upset during stress. And Ayurveda, this beautifully mirrors the idea that Agni or digestive fire is central to not just physical health, but mental health and emotional resilience. The gut is also a home for Ojas, our vital immunity and vitality. So if our ENS is inflamed or disrupted, our whole system is compromised. In today's episode, we'll explore the enteric nervous system, the complex neural network in your belly that's ultimately connected to your brain. We'll unpack how digestive orders like IBS, bloating and constipation are not just physical issues, but often reflections of deeper emotional patterns. We'll also look at how chronic stress, anxiety, and depression can disrupt our gut's natural rhythm, and how Ayurveda and modern science together offer tools for healing from the inside out.Whether you've struggled with digestion, mood, or both, this episode offers insights to help you feel more grounded, nourished, and connected with your own inner intelligence.

What shapes you?Today’s episode is a heart-opening exploration of karma, samskaras, and how the pancha maha bhutas—the five great elements—form the foundation of your inner world. From trauma and conditioning to dharma and healing, we’re diving into how both ancient and modern systems explain the development of the personality. We’ll look at how our past experiences—this lifetime or another—leave grooves, or samskaras, that get etched into the psyche. And how those grooves become thought patterns, beliefs, tendencies, even mental health diagnoses. And how Ayurveda’s elemental view—earth, water, fire, air, ether—gives us a lens for understanding not just what we do, but why we do it. It’s not about blame or shame—it’s about remembering the deeper story that lives beneath the surface. So, thank you for listening. Thank you for growing with us. And thank you for continuing to make space in your consciousness for conversations that hold both science and soul.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Ayurveda for Happy and Healthy Kids with Dr. J (Pt. 3)

In Part 3 of a 3-part series, Dr. J and Sasha conclude their exploration of Ayurveda for Happy and Healthy Kids, this time focusing on Ahara (diet and nutrition) and herbal remedies. They look deeply into the foundational role of Āhāra, or food as medicine - how it shapes a child’s growth, mood, immunity, and overall wellbeing. They also unpack the gentle power of Ayurvedic herbs and formulations — from digestive teas to ojas-building tonics — and how to use them safely and effectively for common childhood concerns. If you’ve ever wondered what to feed your child to strengthen their agni, how to calm their nervous system without sugar or screen time, or which classical remedies can help with sleep, focus, or seasonal colds — you’re in the right place. This episode offers nourishing guidance to help the little ones in your life thrive — body, mind, and spirit.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Ayurveda for Happy and Healthy Kids with Dr. J (Pt. 2)

Welcome to Season 7 of Ojas Oasis!  In part two of this three part series, Dr. Jayarajan Kodikannath (also known as Dr. J) and Sasha continue our exploration of Ayurveda for happy and healthy kids. In today's conversation, we focus on Vihara, which means lifestyle in terms of conscious or unconscious behavior, tendencies or hobbies, and Dinacharya, the Sanskrit word for ideal daily routines, which includes waking and sleeping times, oral and bodily hygiene, bowel illumination, self oil massage (abhyanga), exercise, meditation, prayer, and eating meals at regular times, all of which follow the circadian and seasonal rhythms. A key differential between Vihara and Dinacharya is that Dinacharya focuses on when and how you do the self-care rituals that optimize and regulate your life, while Vihara focuses on how you live overall: conscious or unconscious habits or hobbies you engage with throughout the day that impact your body and mind. Vihara and Dinacharya are both pillars of health in Ayurveda. Balancing both in a child's life supports healthy nervous system development, creative expression, emotional regulation, and physical resilience. In a world of overstimulation and technology continuing to advance at the speed of light, it has never been more important to balance the external environment with an internal environment that feels safe, nurturing, slow, and in sync with nature. These Ayurvedic principles offer a grounded, simple approach toward joyful, thriving childhood. We also touch on the importance of these principles being applied in parents' lives as parents are the most influential, energetic imprint in a child's life. We highly recommend Dr. J's book The Parent's Complete Guide to Ayurveda: Principles, Practices, and Recipes for Happy, Healthy Kids, published by Shambhala in 2022, which you can find in stores and online. More about Dr. J here: https://www.keralaayurveda.us/wellnesscenter/our-team/jayarajan-kodikannath/Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

As Sasha's own teacher, he embodies the Divine Father and Ayurveda itself, guiding his students with wisdom, humility, and love.Today, in part one of our three-part series on Ayurveda for Happy and Healthy Kids, we explore a topic close to both our hearts. We begin with Prana—the primordial life force—its role in childhood development, and its impact on cognitive health. We also discuss:The Ayurvedic perspective on childhood growth and developmentCommon childhood imbalances and their root causesThe role of parents in their children’s healthThe impact of stress and environmental factors on kidsThe controversial use of pharmaceuticals for behavioral challengesBreaking cycles of sleep deprivation for parentsBalancing structured activities with free, unstructured playtimeThe healing power of nature and the innate healing capacity within us allIt seems fitting that Dr. J wrote a book on conscious, loving Ayurvedic parenting—because that is exactly what he offers us as his students. He doesn’t just teach Ayurveda; he embodies it, sharing from his heart rather than merely his vast knowledge. His wisdom flows effortlessly, granting all of us in his presence the blessing of Darshan—Divine sight.Send us Fan MailFor 20% off Kerala Ayurveda products, use code OjasOasis at checkoutFor 20% off GarryNSun products, use code OJASOASIS20 at checkoutFor 20% off Ora Cacao products, use OJASOASIS20 at checkout Support the showTo learn more about working with us, please visit www.OjasOasis.com Connect with us @ojasoasis on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube

Honor the Journey: Season 6 Finale

"As we close this transformative season, I find myself in deep gratitude for the journey we’ve shared. We have had so many incredible guests, and reflecting on it all fills me with appreciation for this work and the community we’ve built. As I write this, I’m in my birthday week—this episode won’t air for another month, but I’m in a deeply reflective state. A solar eclipse is approaching, and Saturn is entering Pisces for the first time in 30 years—a profound cosmic shift and an equally significant moment in my personal Vedic chart. In this episode, Erin and I reunite after a month to explore the theme of community and its role in personal growth. This podcast has become a bridge for meaningful connections, and the joy it brings us is immeasurable. We dive into embracing AI as a tool, my preparations for speaking at the NAMA conference in May, redefining leadership through the lens of the Divine Feminine, and why we dedicated much of this season to the foundations of subtle anatomy—the koshas and the chakras. We also explore intuition in decision-making, practices for mental clarity, and the journey of reparenting our inner child. And of course, we look ahead to the magic that awaits us in Season 7.While we’re excited for what the future holds, we’re also pausing to stand at this summit, taking in the breathtaking view of how far we’ve come. We started this season in India. We launched our YouTube channel. We surpassed 10,000 downloads. We turned three. We welcomed two renowned Ayurveda Gurus—Dr. Ramkumar and Dr. J. We collaborated with inspiring experts across Ayurveda, Jyotish, Yoga, Bodywork, Birth work, and Entrepreneurship. Teaching this knowledge week after week, month after month, has been profoundly rewarding. We hear from listeners around the world about how this show is changing their lives, and it fuels us to keep going. This show continues to find those who need it, and our prayer is that it always does. May we keep meeting in this space—growing, learning, and evolving together. Here’s to Season 7 and beyond. Heal Addiction: Yoga for Recovery with Rob Loud

Addiction, from an Ayurvedic lens, is more than just a physical dependence—it’s a deep imbalance in the body, mind, and spirit. It often arises from a disconnect from one’s true self (Prakriti) and an accumulation of toxins (Ama), whether physical, emotional, or energetic. Many turn to substances in an attempt to soothe inner suffering, regulate emotions, or fill a void left by trauma or unresolved pain.    •    Vata imbalances can manifest as anxiety, restlessness, and a pervasive sense of emptiness, driving the urge to escape through addiction.    •    Pitta imbalances fuel intense cravings, impulsivity, and self-destructive tendencies.    •    Kapha imbalances create stagnation, attachment, and emotional heaviness, making it harder to break free from addictive cycles.Substance use depletes Ojas (vital essence) and Prana (life force energy), but Ayurveda offers a path to rebuild through nourishment, breathwork, meditation, and detoxification practices like Panchakarma and Rasayana (rejuvenation therapy). By restoring balance through daily routines (Dinacharya) and sattvic living, we cultivate clarity, resilience, and self-awareness—key elements in long-term healing.Today, we're honored to sit down with Rob Loud, a yoga teacher whose journey through drug and alcohol addiction led him to a path of deep transformation. Rob describes his teaching style as embodied vinyasa, drawing wisdom from multiple yogic lineages. His passion for yoga is evident—not just in his classes, which are creative, intelligent, and dynamic—but in the way he lives his practice. In this conversation, Rob opens up about his early struggles with addiction, the trauma that shaped him, and how rewiring his nervous system through yoga became the foundation of his recovery. We discuss how yoga not only supports sobriety but also helps navigate both daily stressors and the deeper emotional wounds that addiction often masks. This is a raw, vulnerable conversation—one that invites us all into a deeper intimacy with ourselves, our inner child, and the universal thread that unites us: compassion for the suffering we all experience as human beings.Rob, thank you for your wisdom, your presence, and the light you bring to your students, on and off the mat.

Doula Wisdom: Holistic Birth and Intuitive Mothering with Carson Meyer

Over the past seven years, Carson Meyer has had the privilege of supporting hundreds of parents through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. As a doula she meets her clients where they’re at on their unique journey and offers resources, education and support for home or hospital birth. She helps parents navigate the many choices they have so they can feel confident, connected and empowered throughout this sacred time.  In addition to her birth work, Carson has a celebrity-favorite clean skincare line, C & The Moon. She believes that the way we approach birth has the potential to change the world.A supported mother who is respected in her autonomy is not only less likely to experience birth trauma or postpartum depression but will feel better equipped to show up as a mother with all that she has to give. The imprinting that takes place for a child on the day they are born and the days and weeks that follow informs their worldview and lifelong physical health more than we may realize. After years of working as a doula she was shocked to learn how rare it was for doctors to talk to clients about good nutrition, emotional wellbeing, and environmental health. The impact of a healthy lifestyle for mom and baby are well studied and she believes should be a central point of prenatal and postpartum care. In 2020 she became certified a nutrition consultant through the Oh Baby Academy so she could support her clients in feeling their best. And in 2022, she became a mother herself. She gave birth to her daughter Lou in her home in North Carolina.Today Sasha and Carson sat down to explore her new book, Growing Together: Doula Wisdom & Holistic Practices for Pregnancy, Birth & Early Motherhood, being released by Chronicle Books on March 25. We chat about Carson’s own journey in becoming a doula and educator, understanding the roles of a Doula vs Midwife, the impact of the medicalization of childbirth, the importance of sisterhood and female friendships, and empowering women through knowledge and their own intuition. Connect to the Highest State of Awareness through Sahasrapadma (Crown Chakra)

Today, Erin and Sasha dive into the beauty of the Sahasrapadma Chakra. “Sahasrara” means thousand and “Padma” means lotus. Together, it is referred to as the “thousand-petaled lotus.” Much like the human experience, a lotus begins its life in the depths of muddy, murky waters—our struggles, attachments, desires, and ignorance (Avidya). Just as the lotus remains rooted in the mud, we too are born into the material world, facing suffering, karmic cycles, and obstacles. As the lotus stem rises through the water, it symbolizes the seeker’s journey through self-awareness, discipline, and inner purification. The phrase represents the infinite layers of consciousness. And through our efforts in Yoga, Meditation, and Self-Inquiry, overcoming obstacles, refining the mind, and aligning with higher consciousness, we unfold one petal at a time, moving closer to Divine realization. Sahasrapadma Chakra is located at the crown of the head, and is the gateway to pure consciousness. When it is balanced, we experience deep inner peace, clarity, and a profound connection to universal wisdom. Life flows effortlessly, and we feel aligned with our highest purpose. When imbalanced or blocked, it can manifest as mental fog, chronic stress, anxiety, or depression. On a physical level, disharmony in this chakra is often linked to neurological disorders, migraines, hormonal imbalances, sleep disturbances, and even autoimmune conditions. Some may struggle with disconnection from their spiritual path, while others might experience an overwhelming sense of isolation or existential confusion.Through meditation, pranayama, acts of surrender, nourishing ourselves with sattvic foods like coconut, almonds, and ghee, occasional fasting with fresh juices or herbal teas, and using Ayurvedic herbs such as Brahmi, Shankhpushpi, Gotu Kola, and Tulsi, we unlock the potential of this energy center. Yoga asanas like Sirsasana (headstand), Savasana (corpse pose), Vrikshasana (tree pose) and Padmasana (lotus pose) further help stimulate this center of Divine connection. When the lotus reaches the surface, it blossoms in the sunlight, untouched by the water below. This represents the final stage of spiritual awakening, the self-realization (moksha), where one transcends suffering, duality, and illusion (maya). The enlightened being, like a lotus, remainds in the world but is no longer affected by its turbulence. Despite its impure surroundings, the lotus remains pristine and beautiful, symbolizing that true beauty and purity arise from within, regardless of external circumstances.
