The Cost of Carrying it All: From Over-Functioning Eldest Daughter to Healed Hero with Adaku Mbagwu
We’ve been conditioned to think about the "eldest daughter syndrome" through the lens of internet memes and relatable TikToks. But the hyper-responsibility, the chronic over-functioning, and the inability to rest aren't just relatable jokes, but the deeply ingrained psychological aftermath of childhood parentification. In this episode, we sit down with Adaku Mbagwu, a dedicated First-Born Daughter Coach, to completely flip the script on what it means to grow up as the eldest girl. Adaku pulls from her own profound journey of hitting rock bottom, navigating childhood trauma, and doing the messy work of healing her relationship with her mother to provide a roadmap for the first-born daughters ready to reclaim their own lives. If you’ve felt overwhelmed by the constant pressure to hold everything together for everyone else, this conversation is the grounding, compassionate reality check you need. Adaku shares beautiful, realistic frameworks to help you navigate the guilt of setting boundaries and start living for yourself, without destroying your family bonds. In This Class, We Discuss:The Parentification of the Eldest Daughter: A deep dive into what happens when a young girl is forced into adult roles, and how that early survival mechanism manifests as anxiety and over-functioning.The Relationship Ripple Effect: How the instinct to be the family "fixer" unconsciously sabotages your adult romantic relationships, making you prone to over-giving.Dismantling Transactional Love: Breaking down the core limiting beliefs of first-born daughters, specifically the internal narrative that you must earn love and that your value is tied to your productivity. The Importance Pausing: Why slowing down feels actively unsafe for eldest daughters, and how to overcome the acute fear of rest.Navigating Boundary Guilt: Powerful mindsets for setting boundaries, and how to sit with the inevitable wave of guilt without backsliding.Healing the Mother-Daughter Bond: Adaku shares her personal journey of transformation, navigating the rock bottom necessary for change, and rebuilding a healthier relationship with her mother from a place of adult autonomy.Connect with Adaku:Website: https://healedhero.com/about-usInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/adaku_mbagwu/LinkedIn: https://mx.linkedin.com/in/adakumbagwu

Skin Health & The Restorative Power of Plants with Jodi Scott
We’ve been conditioned to think about skincare purely through the lens of cosmetics, anti-aging, aesthetics. But what if your skin isn’t just an outer covering, but an active, hyper-communicative extension of your nervous system? In this episode, we sit down with Jodi Scott, Co-founder and CEO of Green Goo, to completely flip the script on skin health. Jodi bridges the gap between clinical science and traditional herbalism, pulling from her pre-med roots and Master's in Health Psychology to explain why the skin is actually a major communicator in the body.We dive into endocrine disruptors (what even are they?), ingredients to add versus ones to avoid, and why whole-plant formulations hold a biological intelligence that isolated chemical extracts simply cannot replicate. If you’ve felt overwhelmed by the fear-mongering of hormone health online, this conversation is the grounding, science-forward reality check you need. Jodi shares beautiful, realistic, micro-habits to reclaim your skin health, and overall health, without overhauling your life.In This Class, We Discuss:The Embryonic Origin of Skin: How the skin and the nervous system both develop from the embryonic tissue, and how your skin is constantly communicating to the rest of the body. The Problem with Endocrine Disruptors: A non-alarmist breakdown of what chemicals like parabens, phthalates, and petroleums actually do to your body’s internal hormonal feedback loops.Ovarian Health is Longevity Health: Shifting the narrative away from ovaries as purely reproductive organs, and looking at them as foundational engines for a woman's lifelong vitality and long-term wellness.Whole-Plant Chemistry vs. Plant Extracts: The botanical science showing why utilizing the entire plant creates a more balanced, effective, and bioavailable response than synthetics or highly-processed extracts. The SHAMAN Framework: A simple, empowering acronym (Sleep, Hydration, Antioxidants, Mindfulness, Avoid, Nature) designed to help you integrate quiet, restorative micro-decisions into your daily flow.Connect with Jodi:Check out Jodi's skincare company, Green Goo: https://www.greengoo.com/Connect on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jodi-scott-7234331b8

Chronic Illness & Eating Disorders: How Sick Is "Sick Enough" with Tamie Gangloff
In today’s episode, I am joined by therapist, author, and educator Tamie Gangloff to blow the lid off a massive blind spot in women's healthcare: the intersection of chronic illness and disordered eating. When you live with chronic pain, inflammation, or conditions like endometriosis, adenomyosis, or hEDS, your relationship with food automatically gets complicated. We try so hard to control our symptoms through what we eat that we can easily slide into disordered patterns without even realizing it.Tamie opens up about her own journey, from hearing the word "deformity" and it shaping her experience throughout life to her recent hysterectomy where Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) made recovery much longer and harder than expected, triggering intense post-surgical anxiety. We dive deep into why the "sick enough" mentality is keeping you from getting the help you deserve and how to actually rebuild body trust when healing isn’t linear. In This Episode, We Discuss:The Intersection of Chronic Illness & Disordered Eating: Why living with a chronic condition automatically complicates your relationship with food and movement.Eating Disorders vs. Disordered Eating: Unpacking the crucial nuance between a clinical diagnosis and the survival-driven food anxieties that develop around chronic pain. The "Sick Enough" Trap: How internal gatekeeping and medical dismissal convince women their pain isn’t severe enough to warrant deeper lab investigations or specialist care. The Control Fallacy: How to use food as a supportive tool for your health without slipping down the slope of self-blame when a diet doesn’t "cure" your chronic illness.Weight Bias in Medicine: The dangerous assumption that thin equals healthy and heavy equals unhealthy, and how this bias delays care.Connect with Tamie:Website: https://www.tamiegangloff.com/Book: Chronic Illness and Eating Disorders: Assessment, Clinical Skills, and Lived ExperiencesAs mentioned in class:National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated DisordersFree Medical Appt Pre-Planning GuideInsight TimerEDS Conference at University of Virginia

The Missing Gap in Endometriosis Care: Why Surgery Isn’t the End of the Story with Jessica Doto
This conversation with Jessica Doto, APRN, ANP-C, BSN, MSN is a masterclass in what total care for endometriosis should actually look like. As the Medical Director at Elysara, Jessica brings her high-intensity background in ER and ICU medicine to the world of functional health, and the result is a no-nonsense, deeply compassionate look at how we untangle this complex disease. We’re moving past the "what next?" gap that so many of us feel after surgery. We’re talking about the science of why your body feels the way it does and how to advocate for yourself in a system that often relies on outdated data.In this episode, we dive into...The Post-Surgical Gap: Why surgery is just one piece of the puzzle and how Elysara builds a post-op roadmap for multidisciplinary treatment. The BHRT & Estrogen Myth: Breaking down the fear-based narrative around estrogen and why bioidentical hormone replacement is a game-changer for long-term health.Progesterone Resistance: Why so many endo patients feel "crazy" on synthetic birth control and why our blood tests show normal hormone levels.IVs: The science behind IV infusions for endometriosis and how they can be better for absorption.Cheat Sheet: Decoding the TerminologyDuring our chat, we used some heavy-hitting clinical terms. Here is a quick breakdown of what they mean:BHRT (Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy): Hormones that are chemically identical to those your body produces naturally, used to restore balance without the side effects of synthetics.Neurosteroid: Steroids produced in the nervous system that act rapidly to regulate the brain. These play a huge role in mood, anxiety, and how you perceive pain.Mast Cells: Type of white blood cells in your immune system that releases chemicals (like histamine) during an inflammatory response. In endo patients, these are often overactive.Angiogenesis: The creation of new blood vessels. Endo lesions use this to "feed" themselves and grow.Prostaglandins: Hormone-like substances that are over-produced in endometriosis patients. They can sensitize nerve endings to signal pain.N-acetylcysteine (NAC): A powerful antioxidant that helps the body produce glutathione. Research shows it can help reduce the size of endo cysts and lower systemic oxidative stress.Connect with Jessica & Elysara Medical:Website: https://elysarawellness.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/elysaramedical/About This Series: This is part three of our collaborative series with Elysara Medical & Wellness. Perimenopause 101: Understanding Anxiety, Stressors, and Identity Shifts with Dr. Blake Myers
Why does society expect women to "shrink" just as they are reaching their most powerful years? In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Blake Myers, a licensed naturopathic doctor and graduate professor, to dismantle the "taboo" around perimenopause. We dive deep into why anxiety is often the very first indicator of hormonal shifts, the way our bodies adapt (or struggle) with modern stressors, and why picking up heavy weights is a radical act of self-love and feminism. In This Episode, We Discuss:The ND Difference: Why Naturopathic Doctors are the "Systems Biology" experts your healthcare team might be missing. The Anxiety Connection: Why the brain often reacts to hormonal shifts before your period ever changes.Homeostasis: How our bodies adapt to stressors in our 20s and 30s, and why that can change so drastically during perimenopause.Identity Reclaimed: Navigating the spiritual and emotional "ego death" that happens during the menopausal transition.Muscle as Resistance: Why strength training is about so much more than aesthetics: It's about metabolic freedom and fighting back against a system that wants women to stay small.Normalizing the Conversation: How to talk to the next generation so they enter midlife with clarity instead of fear.Even if you're years away from these key hormonal shifts, it's important to know what they are, how they can show up in the body and brain, and how to best take care of your hormone health now to make the transition as smooth as possible later.Whether you're a young person who wants to prepare for their future or someone currently in the throes of perimenopause, this episode has a lot to offer.Dr. Blake's Website: https://www.thebridgesystemmethod.com/Follow Dr. Blake on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebridgesystem

After spending 26 years in a marriage that was lacking true intimacy, Xanet transformed her life to figure out why desire actually disappears and how to rebuild it.We dive into the "roommate syndrome" that so many of us fear, the difference between a trauma response and a gut feeling, and why your Type A analytical brain might be the very thing blocking your pleasure.Whether you’re single and looking for a long-term love or in an established partnership trying to find that spark again, this conversation is a masterclass in reclaiming pleasure as your birthright. In This Episode, We Discuss:The Sexless Marriage Epidemic: Why sex is the ultimate "canary in the coal mine" for the health of your relationship. The Analytical Trap: Why high-achieving, "Type A" women struggle to drop into their bodies and how to train the brain to find pleasure.Roommate Syndrome: How to identify the warning signs of a fading connection before your relationship becomes devoid of intimacy. The Safety Factor: Why emotional safety is the most important prerequisite for desire (and how to create that safety).Pleasure as a Practice: Using self-touch, sexy playlists, and "micro-pleasures" throughout the day to heal your relationship with your sexuality.Xanet wants us all to remember—pleasure is our birthright. What Does Cardiology Have to Do With Endometriosis? | Dr. George Yiachos
Endometriosis is a systemic disease requiring a multidisciplinary approach. In this episode, we’re joined by Dr. George Yiachos, a board-certified integrative cardiologist who's answering the question: What does cardiology have to do with endo?As it turns out, everything. (Please note: There are a few minutes in this episode where Dr. George pulls up slides. It is not necessary to watch; the audio is sufficiently explanatory! If you'd like, find the podcast on YouTube for full video.)Dr. George breaks down the cellular mechanics of endometriosis as a whole-body inflammatory disease and explains why removing the lesions is only half the battle. If we don’t address the "inflammatory fire" happening in the blood and the cells, we aren't truly healing. In this episode, we dive into:The Inflammatory Triggers: Dr. George shares his framework for what actually induces chronic inflammation and how these components act as a catalyst for endo symptoms.Endo as a Whole-Body Disease: Understanding the intersection between chronic inflammation, cardiovascular health, and long-term Health Span.Dampening the Fire: A deep dive into cutting-edge therapies used by Dr. George at Elysara to regulate inflammation from endometriosis:Ozonotherapy: The role of pelvic plexus injections and blood oxygenation in reducing systemic inflammation.Targeted Supplementation & IVs: Why high-dose antioxidants like green tea (EGCG) and quercetin are game-changers for cellular repair.Peptide Therapy: How we can guide the body to heal itself at a mitochondrial level.Reframing Endo: Why the medical system is failing patients by keeping endometriosis strictly in the gynecological "bucket" and ignoring its systemic impact. The Future of Care: Why Dr. George has hope for the future of endometriosis care.Connect with Dr. GeorgeWebsite: https://wprmedical.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wpr_medical/Listen to Decoding the Health Matrix: https://open.spotify.com/show/5TI4oNb4RVnyNqrv4EZ291Get Dr. George's book: https://www.amazon.com/Heart-Matter-Preventing-Reversing-Cardiovascular-ebook/dp/B0GHQRBCJ2About This Series: This is part two of our collaborative series with Elysara Medical & Wellness. Yoga for Every Body: Chronic Pain, Neurodivergence, and the Power of Aerial Yoga with Jo Stewart
I’ll be honest: for a long time, I thought aerial yoga was just a fun, circus-y way to do yoga. But after sitting down with Jo Stewart, Senior Yoga Teacher and author of Eight Limbs of Aerial Yoga, I realized I had it all wrong. For people living with chronic pain, neurodivergence, or PTSD, the hammock isn't just a prop, it’s a sanctuary. In this episode, Jo and I unpack why the Westernized, "fitness-first" approach to yoga is actually doing us a disservice and how we can reclaim movement as a tool for nervous system regulation, chronic pain (from endometriosis or something else), and our overall health. We dive deep into the specific benefits for female-bodied health, from managing mental health to autonomic balance to finding representation for conditions like endometriosis in the movement world. What We Discuss:The "Weight Loss" Myth: Why chasing a "yoga body" actually dishonors the practice’s history, disregards accessibility, and keeps us trapped in toxic diet culture.A Safety Net for the Nervous System: How the hammock acts as a co-regulator for those with PTSD or sensory processing needs.Chronic Pain & Endo: Jo shares the benefits of aerial yoga in particular for chronic pain and inflammation, and how it offers a bridge to movement when your body feels like it’s betraying you.Neurodivergence: The sensory benefits of deep pressure and why "traditional" yoga cues can be confusing for neurodivergent or structurally diverse bodies.Connect with Jo:Website: Garden of YogaBook: Eight Limbs of Aerial Yoga: Adapting Practice for Neurodiversity, Accessibility and Physical SupportPodcast: The Flow Artists PodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gardenofyoga/

Her Story: Surviving Endometriosis, Infertility, & The "Whiny Woman" Label with Amanda Martinez
Endometriosis, adenomyosis, infertility, and a messed up medical system—Amanda’s story is a heavy one, but it’s the reality for so many of us navigating the endo world. After eight surgeries (ablation and excision surgery) and the emotional rollercoaster of failed fertility treatments, Amanda finally opted for a hysterectomy. She bravely and candidly tells her story from cancer to cysts to endo, shedding so much light on what living with this disease actually looks like.In this episode, we get into the mindfuck of dealing with fertility issues and endometriosis. Despite specifically asking not to be there, Amanda was placed in the maternity ward post-hysterectomy, which apparently happens more often than you'd think. (Cruel, right?)Imagine trying to heal from losing your fertility while a chime plays over the loudspeaker every single time a baby is born. It’s a level of systemic negligence that is hard to wrap your head around. We’re talking about:Ablations & Bad Surgeries: Why burning endo tissue (ablation) is often a band-aid (kinda?) that causes more harm than good, and why you need to hold out for an excision specialist. The "Whiny Woman" Myth: Amanda opens up about being labeled a "difficult" or "whiny" patient by hospital staff and how that gaslighting and bias impacts recovery. The WTF Moment: Amanda shares an all-too-common experience of learning via the internet that her surgeon performed the wrong surgery for endo. We should be able to trust our surgeons over a Facebook group, yet that community was what led her to an actual endometriosis excision specialist.Finding Peace: How Amanda is finally sharing her story on her own terms and what her health looks like today. If you’ve ever been told that ablation was your only option, or if you’ve been told a hysterectomy is a "simple cure," this episode is for you. Amanda is living proof that we have to be our own loudest advocates.

It was raw, it was cathartic, and it touched on the exact reasons why "The Health Class She Deserves" exists in the first place. (Period pain is not normal!)Chelsea’s journey started in corporate boardrooms where she was expected to "power through" debilitating period pain, and it reached a breaking point when she was denied a basic breast cancer screening at 24 because she was "too young, "despite her family history. If you’ve ever been told your pain is "normal," been dismissed by a doctor, or felt like you had to shrink your physical needs to succeed in a male-dominated career, this episode is your permission slip to demand more. Our conversation highlights:The "too young" trap: Chelsea shares her frustrating experience of being refused breast cancer screening and how she advocates for her health. The abnormality of pain: Why we have normalized suffering for so long and how to reframe the narrative that "pain is just part of being a woman."The corporate sacrifice: A look at the invisible toll women pay when leading in male-dominated spaces while navigating hormonal health. The pillars of OURbody: exploring how transparency, community, and radical self-kindness became the foundation of her brand and her teas.Chelsea’s story is a powerful reminder that we have to be the change we want to see in the world. The Secret to Shame-Free Sex Ed with the Learn MOBO Team
What's up ladies, welcome to class! This week we are learning about *actual* sex education with Jenna Scherma and Ashley Smith, founders of Learn MOBO, and I'm so excited.Jenna and Ashley saw major gaps in sex education, so they're doing something about it. Learn MOBO is a platform that transforms sex ed from awkward lectures into an engaging, interactive experience that meets educators, parents, and teens where they are.Their 100% neutral approach to sex ed shouldn't be so radical, but it *feels* that way because of how we've modernly stigmatized sex. It's all just information—information that allows us to make educated, rational, consensual decisions about our bodies and relationships with others. When we teach youth with neutrality instead of fear, stigma, shame, or even positivity, it allows them to form their own opinions based on fact, not feelings.Jenna and Ashley also put a huge emphasis on what sex education actually is. In other words, it's not just sex! Comprehensive, age-appropriate sex ed should start at a very young age, teaching kids about their anatomy, boundaries, and autonomy.Read more about Learn MOBO: https://www.learnmobo.com/ Follow Learn MOBO on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/learn_mobo/Follow Learn MOBO on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@learnmoboWatch the episode!Sign up for the newsletter (it's free!)InstagramTikTok20% OFF Natural CyclesBe a guest Hosted on Acast. The Recipe for Glowing Skin: Why Gut Health Comes First with Jacqui Meehan
What’s up ladies, welcome to class! In this episode of The Health Class She Deserves, we’re diving into the science behind skin health, gut health, and hormone health, and how they’re all deeply connected, especially when it comes to the gut–skin connection. In a world where everyone is trying to sell us the next skincare “miracle” (at the low low price of $100 an ounce, of course), it’s important to recognize when acne, blemishes, rashes, and chronic skin issues are actually an inside problem. Because more often than not, they are. Glowing skin starts in the gut, and on this women’s health podcast, we have to talk about what’s happening beneath the surface. This week, we’re joined by Jacqui Meehan to unpack the ins and outs of gut health for skin, including what hormonal acne really is, how inflammation impacts skin health, and why topical skincare alone often isn’t enough. If you’ve ever wondered how to support clearer, healthier skin from the inside out, this episode is for you.Head over to Jacqui's Fullscript dispensary for high-quality supplements to support your gut health:https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/jacquimeehannutritionRead more about Jacqui's work on her website: https://www.jacquimeehannutrition.com/Schedule a free consult with Jacqui: https://www.jacquimeehannutrition.com/book-free-consultationWatch the episode!Sign up for the newsletter (it's free!)InstagramTikTok20% OFF Natural CyclesBe a guest Hosted on Acast. Her Story: From PCOS to Tumor: 20 Years of Medical Gaslighting with Jenna Bostick
What's up ladies, welcome to class! This week we have another episode of Her Story, where I sit down with women like you to share your stories of pain, chronic illness, medical gaslighting, mental health, and more.In this intimate and honest interview, we're speaking with Jenna Bostick. Jenna was misdiagnosed multiple times with PCOS before finally (20 years later) getting diagnosed with a rare tumor. After decades of dealing with fluctuating weight, migraines, greying hair, high blood pressure, and countless other symptoms, she ended up in the hospital for two months. In our conversation, it became clear to me that one of the most painful parts of her story is the "what ifs": What if doctors had listened to her when she was 18? What if they had run more tests? What if they had investigated further? What if women's health was taken seriously? What if we taught women to take up space and advocate for themselves? She opens up candidly about medical gaslighting, fertility, weight struggles, emotional growth, and learning to take charge of her healthcare.Jenna wants all women to take this from her story: Trust your gut. Push back against your doctors when you feel something is wrong. You can be kind while also standing up for yourself, and in doing so you may save your life. You know your body best, trust that.If you want to read the Regional One article you can do so here.Interested in sharing your story? Wealthy, Worthy Women: Unpacking the Intersection of Health & Wealth with Nancy Griffin
What's up ladies, welcome to class! This week we're welcoming wealth advisor and creator of Women, Worth, & Wellness, Nancy Griffin. What do net worth and self worth have to do with each other? That's one of the key messages that Nancy unpacks for us today: You are worthy, and if you believe in your self worth, your net worth with grow.Because when we know our worth, we won't settle for less. We'll demand what we deserve in all areas of life, not just financially. We'll be fully empowered women. As women, we are often raised to not be difficult, to "just be grateful for the opportunity" instead of negotiating what we deserve. And while I'm all for gratitude, we can be grateful for what we have while standing firm in what we are worth. That's why Nancy's message today is SO important.Another key part of our discussion is how health and wealth are intimately connected. If we prioritize health up front, it can be less of a financial burden over time. Also, if we have an optimal wealth plan, we will have contingencies in place that can save us a load of stress. We talk about practical steps for working with a trusted financial advisor, building an overall wealth plan, planning finances with a partner, shamelessly prioritizing ourselves, and so much more. No matter where you're at in life, this episode will offer you something invaluable for your overall health AND wealth.Enjoy!Find Nancy below:Women, Worth, & WellnessInstagramFacebookor email her at [email protected] the episode!Sign up for the newsletter (it's free!)InstagramTikTok20% OFF Natural CyclesBe a guest Hosted on Acast. What's up ladies, welcome to class! This week we're talking all about sex, pleasure, and orgasms with Dr. Stephanie Zwonitzer.Female pleasure is considered *taboo*, but we're having this conversation to break through that stigma and bring you the sexual education you deserve. Because sex is a part of life, and pleasure is important! Sexual wellness is a part of your overall wellbeing, full stop. Many of us hold a lot of shame when it comes to intimacy. We're disconnected from parts of our body due to sexual trauma, religious trauma, family dynamics, or perhaps due simply to cultural influence. That ends today. Or, at least, begins to end today....healing will likely take much longer than 24 hours. But you get the point.Dr. Z teaches us how to maximize our pleasure (sexually and non-sexually), how to have easier conversations with intimate partners, and how to have a better time with ourselves. We also talk about different arousal types as well as the importance of non-sexual intimacy.Overall, this episode is full of valuable info no matter your situation. Womb Healing & the Powers of Psychedelic Plant Medicine with Leslie Draffin
What's up ladies, welcome to class! Today we are joined by Somatic Practitioner, Psychedelic Microdosing Guide, & Womb Mystic Leslie Draffin. We talk about sexual shame, generational trauma, religious influence, motherhood, and so much more, and how we can overcome traumas via somatic work, breathwork, and psylocibin work.Leslie realized she was living entirely in her head, which I think a lot of us high-performing women can relate to. She teaches us that when we pair breath and body work with small amounts of magic mushrooms, we can deepen the connection between mind and body and embrace true healing on a much more profound level.BUT, Leslie takes it even a step further, and teaches us that cyclical microdosing is the key to optimizing our feminine power. As we all know, the cycle impacts every aspect of our lives. Leslie knew this, and so she thought, why would psylocibin use be any different? Cycling (psycling, if you will) your microdosing frequency based on the phase you're in is what makes Leslie's approach so different from other methods on the market.Read more about Leslie's Cyclical Microdosing Method and download her free guide here.Download the FREE Cyclical Microdosing Method 5-Day Mini-CourseLeslie also hosts a podcast, The Light Within. Sanity Over Ideology: True Holism & How It Can Set You Free with Nicole Lange
What's up ladies, welcome to class!Today I'm joined by Nicole Lange to explore the intersection of women's health, fertility, and Chinese medicine. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Whether or not you plan on having kids, your fertility is a key indicator of your health. Optimal health and optimal fertility are one in the same.Nicole talks about holism vs. faux holism, and I love the distinction here! The internet can be useful, but has gotten out of hand in many aspects. A good example is how we've redefined "holism" to mean something woo-woo, when in reality, it's using all of the modalities at your disposal to achieve true healing. More on that in class! We also discuss cultural influences on women's health, the emotional aspects of fertility, and the need for individualized care. Overcoming Childhood Sexual Abuse, Toxic Beauty Culture, & Problematic Porn with Kristin Louise Duncombe
What's up ladies, welcome to class! Today I'm joined by therapist, author, coach, and absolute pleasure Kristin Louise Duncombe!TRIGGER WARNING: The episode and following description detail topics that may be triggering or uncomfortable for some individuals, including childhood sexual assault. Use discretion. Links to crisis hotlines can be found below.Kristen and I begin our discussion with her latest memoir, Object, a powerful read about being habitually sexually assaulted by her father's colleague and how it affected her life for decades. We dive into the disturbing parallels between the current U.S. political climate and her experience with the U.S. government covering for a serial pedophile in the 80s.We then venture into toxic beauty culture, including raising the oh-so-important question of how men would see the world if we flipped the script. Even more interesting, we end up in the world of pornography: What does porn teach us about sex? What damaging gender roles are reinforced through it? How is the landscape of porn changing?Kristin's perspective is profound, having the unique experience of dating both before and after the dawn of internet porn and dating apps.Ultimately, our conversation advocates for a more empowered and informed approach to women's health, consent, and sexuality. While the topics are at times heavy, we have a fun and hopefully inspiring conversation that will leave you with hope and radical confidence.Read ObjectCheck out Kristen's websiteFind Kristen on InstagramCrisis Hotlines:The National Sexual Assault Online HotlineChild Abuse HotlineWatch the episode!Sign up for the newsletter (it's free!)InstagramTikTok20% OFF Natural CyclesBe a guest Hosted on Acast. Reproductive Rights, the Importance of Political Advocacy as a Doctor, & Merging Medicine and Motherhood with Dr. Kristen Cain
What's up ladies, welcome to class! Today I'm joined by Dr. Kristen Cain, a double board-certified OBGYN and fertility physician, reproductive rights advocate, and the number 1 bestselling author of Doctoring Your Life: The Secret to Merging Medicine and Motherhood While Loving Your Life.In this conversation we're unpacking fertility and in-vitro fertilization (IVF), the unavoidable politics surrounding it, and how women can have it all, but they shouldn't do it all. With over 30 years of experience practicing reproductive endocrinology, balancing family and a busy career, and over a decade of political advocacy for reproductive rights, Dr. Cain shares her perspective, wisdom, and experience. We also discuss sex education (and how it's actually gone downhill over the last few decades), the importance of fertility for your health and wellness no matter your family plans, and how health insurance has gotten way too powerful.Women are under attack. Women's health is under attack. Growing anti-woman and anti-reproductive rights attitudes are plaguing the U.S. and costing women their lives. Extremists are calling doctors like Kristen Cain—ones who practice IVF—murderers, despite their entire purpose being the opposite as they help people create life. It's easy to feel despair in times like these, like nothing you do will help protect reproductive rights, but the hopeful perspective, powerful statistics, and invaluable knowledge shared by Dr. Cain in this episode rekindled my fire. I hope it does for you too!Find Dr. Kristen Cain below:Website + Dr. Cain's new book: https://www.drkristencain.com/Kindbody: https://kindbody.com/team/dr-kristen-cain/Insta: https://www.instagram.com/drkcain/?hl=enLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristen-cain-bb57ba75/Watch the episode!Sign up for the newsletter (it's free!)InstagramTikTok20% OFF Natural CyclesBe a guest Hosted on Acast. Endometriosis Crash Out: My Periods & Pain Post-Surgery
EXTRA CREDIT! I'm here to share my endometriosis updates. If you're new here, make sure you listen to Autumn's Laparoscopy & Official Endometriosis Diagnosis for the full surgery story.I received endo excision surgery on June 24, 2025. Now, about 6 weeks later, I've gad two (very different) periods. Tune into this episode to hear about my first and second period post-op, the symptoms I had/didn't have, and the reality of living with endometriosis.I also have a teensy little breakdown in the middle of the episode (hence the title), so you've been warned! Listen to this if you're curious what to expect after endo excision, suspect endometriosis, or simply like listening to me share my story <3But PLEASE, always keep in mind that endometriosis is a complex, nuanced disease unique to each individual. Thanks to medical misogyny, we have very limited research on it over the past century. To make matters worse, there is still a LOT of misunderstanding around endo as well. It's a privilege to be able to share my story with you, but never forget that it's unlikely my experience is *exactly* like yours. THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE ENDO!!!As always, my door is open. ABOUT THIS SHOW
What's up ladies, welcome to class! I'm your host, Autumn Paone, here to have real, honest conversations about everything you should have learned in school about the female body but didn’t. From hormones to living cyclically to the stuff no one talks about, I'm breaking it all down so you can understand your body and actually work with it, not against it.If you’ve ever been told your pain is “just part of being a woman,” that your period problems are “normal,” or that the only solution is yet another round of hormonal birth control when it's failed you time and time again, you’ve been lied to. Let's call out the gaslighting, expose the BS, and expand education on women's health. Educated women = empowered women! This podcast is for you if you find yourself asking questions such as:What are the menstrual cycle phases? What is ovulation? How do I cycle sync? What else did they fail to mention in sex-ed and he
